27 OCTOBER 2022

The latest data from the Copernicus Climate Change Service shows that on a global scale, temperatures in September were 0.3 degrees Celsius above the 1991-2020 average. That makes it the joint fourth warmest September on record.

Much of Europe, Russia and Siberia were actually cooler than average last month. It was also cooler across Australia, southern Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and northern Argentina. However in Greenland temperatures were over 8 degrees Celsius above average last month.

Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas, 84 times more potent than carbon dioxide over a 20-year period, so cutting methane is part of the solution to slow global warming. Landfill rubbish sites are an important source of the gas. This month Euronews visited a landfill site near Kraków Poland to see how they reduce methane emissions.

Nature and climate of Spain – Marbella. All about the resort of Marbella in Spain

The climate of Marbella is largely determined by the location of Spain,
however, proximity to Gibraltar and Africa is crucial. Also
location relative to the mountain ranges made it possible to create in Marbella
microclimate that allows you to live in winter as in summer.

Spain is not deprived of the sun. She is
is one of the warmest countries in Western Europe. Number of solar
days per year is approximately 270. The average annual temperature in Spain is
+20°C, including on the coast. Speaking about the climate in Spain, it can be
divided into three types: it is a temperate marine in the northwest, in the south it is
Mediterranean and continental climate inland. temperate maritime
The climate is characterized by moderate temperatures and abundant rainfall during
the whole year. The continental climate is characterized by warm, dry summers and rather cold
winters. Mediterranean climate means wet winters (rain or sleet) and
hot dry summer. There are quite a few climatic zones in Spain, but
the subtropics of the mediterranean type are dominant. In this climate, winter
very short, and the summer is dry and quite hot. mediterranean climate
preserved in the east and south of Spain, but its characteristic features, namely raw
winter, are also characteristic of other regions – Valencia, Catalonia and Andalusia. There is
in Spain and regions in which snow is not a rarity – these are the Pyrenees
(near Andorra), the Sierra Nevada mountains (Andalusia) and the Sierra de Nvadar Rama
(near the capital of Spain).

Very popular in Spain
ski resorts. They operate throughout the year. Some
territories, such as Northern Castile and Aragon, are sometimes covered with snow and
You can also practice winter sports there. Summer temperatures rise in Spain

The best time to visit Spain is spring and autumn. Near the sea in

Plant and animal
world

Since the climatic conditions in
Spain are quite diverse, the heterogeneity of the flora and
fauna in the country. In the south, one can observe similarities with African nature, and in
north – from the Central European.

Evergreen oak forests thrive in northwestern Spain.
Oaks, beeches, ash trees, birches and chestnut trees typical of Central Europe grow
also in the north in mountain forests. Small areas of dry evergreen forests
preserved in the interior of Spain.

Along the coast of Spain, i.e.
where there is a large amount of rainfall, you can find typical plants for
Mediterranean. These are dwarf-herbaceous communities, for example, tomillara and
harrigue. Garriga is characterized
participation of local species of cornflowers and gorse, and tomillar – shrubs,
rosemary and so on.

In areas of Southern Spain where
rainfall is high, especially along the coast, one can find
typical mediterranean shrub-grass communities
common of them are garriga and tomillara. The first is typical
participation of local species of gorse and cornflowers, for the second – shrub and
rosemary.

In the animal kingdom of Spain also
African and European roots stand out. If we take European species, then
two types of brown bear can be distinguished – Austrian, rather large, and more
small, black suit, which can be found in the Pyrenees. There are also wolves
foxes, lynxes and forest cats, deer, moles, hares, squirrels and other European
fauna varieties. In the Gibraltar area, you can find genets, chameleons and
even Egyptian mongooses.

Minerals

Spain has a lot of useful
minerals, in particular, it concerns the reserves of metal ores.
