Beaches in la palma: Beaches – Visit La Palma
The beautiful Canary Island of La Palma with Oceanview
Discover La Palma
The overwhelming nature and the sunny beaches make La Palma an ideal destination for an active holiday with the possibility of being lazy at the same time.
How big is La Palma?
La Palma is the most north-westerly of the Canary Islands. La Palma is 42 kilometres long and 24 kilometres wide. The highest peak on the island is 2421 metres high.
La Palma is an island of great contrasts and contradictions. The journey from the coast to the highest peak passes through five different climate zones.
While in the north-east the mountain slopes are humid by the trade winds, in the west the sun shines. Deep gorges criss-cross the lush north; the south is volcanic.
Through the heart of the erosion crater Caldera de Taburiente flows a clear stream towards the ocean. The gurgling white gold irrigates the fertile coastal plantations. The banana cultivation that brings work and prosperity, combined with the mild climate, make the Palmeros a gentle and contented people.
Two thirds of the total surface of La Palma is covered with forest, of which one third has the status of a protected nature reserve. The varied landscape in combination with the rural tranquillity makes La Palma a popular holiday destination for nature lovers.
And above all this, the Roque de los Muchachos stretches out as if it were trying to touch the sky. La Palma will continue to amaze you.
On the top of a volcano
The ocean around La Palma is 4 kilometres deep. The total area of the island above sea level is only 10% of the total volume. On La Palma you really live on top of a volcano.
How is the wetter on La Palma?
La Palma has a subtropical climate. The average temperature measured at the coast is 27 degrees in summer. In the winter the temperature fluctuates around 20 degrees. The seawater temperature drops to 19 degrees in February and rises to 24 degrees in summer.
La Palma is also called the island of eternal spring. The island has a subtropical climate and is at the same latitude as Kuwait, Florida and Western Sahara.
From the coast to an altitude of 200 metres, the temperature remains the same throughout the year, with small variations, and rarely drops below 20 degrees, even in the coldest months. In winter, snow may fall on the highest peak, the Roque de Los Muchachos, while you can enjoy a summer day on the beach.
How many people live on La Palma?
The island has about 87.000 inhabitants.
The inhabitants of La Palma are called Palmeros. Most Palmeros are employed in agriculture. Palmeros rarely speak a second language. Speaking a few words of Spanish will do wonders for winning over a Palmero.
The Palmero is sensitive, punctual and has a sense of humour. Palmeros like to relax with others and are then completely happy. Palmeros are original, melancholic and have a slight tendency to be overly afraid of illness.
There is no mass tourism on La Palma. You can shop in the shops where the Palmeros shop and you will also find Palmeros on the beaches and in the restaurants. You will get to know the real island life.
Islander among the islanders
In a rural holiday home with your own private garden and a veranda with a view of the Atlantic Ocean, you will be an islander among the islanders during your holiday.
The beaches on La Palma
According to the experts, the beaches on La Palma are not among the best in the world, but the atmosphere is very friendly and the sun shines as much as on all the other Canary Islands. It is even said of the beach at Tazacorte that nowhere else in Europe does the sun shine as much as here.
La Palma has more than fifteen beaches and coves, some of which can only be reached on foot.
La Palma forever
You wouldn’t be the first person to experience it: La Palma is a dream island where you would like to stay forever.

Long sunny days, a fantastic climate with mild temperatures both in summer and winter, the constancy of the trade winds and a seabed of volcanic reef and rich diversity are the great attractions that La Palma offers for surfing and kitesurfing at any time of the year.
La Palma has numerous beaches, which allows you to visit different spots in a short time in search of the perfect wave. However, two of them stand out, being the most recommended for the practice of this sport: Playa Nueva, near Puerto de Naos, ideal especially in winter, and Los Nogales beach, in the northeast of the island, which is accessed through a well-conditioned path of approximately 1 km that borders the cliff.
If you want to go kitesurfing or surfing during your stay at our hotel in La Palma, please contact our reception team. We will be happy to help you organise your lessons or equipment hire.

Webcam La Palma (Canary Islands) – Puerto Naos Beach
Click on the arrow to view the next webcam are palm trees with lush crowns. This beach is famous for being one of the ten cleanest and most beautiful beaches in Spain, as evidenced by the well-deserved Blue Flag award awarded to it in 2007. Being the longest beach of La Gomera (its length is 500 m), it attracts the views of thousands of tourists. Puerto Naos beach is covered with volcanic black sand that does not stick to the body. Among the black grains of crumbled lava, you can see green blotches. These are small particles of a semi-precious mineral – olivine, jewelry from which can be found in souvenir shops of the Canary Islands. At Puerto Naos Beach, you can rent a mask and diving equipment and explore the underwater world of the Atlantic Ocean. You can also go surfing here, because, despite the abundance of sunny days on the west coast, this part of La Palma is well blown by the winds that carry the waves to the shore.
The number of clear days a year in Puerto Naos approaches 330, so tourists can sunbathe here almost all year round. On the main beach of the city, you can rent sun loungers and umbrellas (you can see them in the La Palma webcam picture) and enjoy the warmth of the Canary Island and beautiful views of the ocean and the promenade with palm trees. You can rent accommodation in this city using the Hotellook service. In small Puerto Naos, in addition to a beach holiday, there are other entertainments. For example, you have the opportunity to paragliding over the city and the ocean, go trekking in the mountains of the island, or ride a bike along the established routes. Shoppers will love small shops with fashionable things, souvenirs, and clothes. The island has established the production of cigars from local and Cuban tobacco leaf. If you wish, you can not only buy yourself or your friends an excellent souvenir from La Palma, but also visit the La Nubia cigar factory, see how the process of turning a long tobacco leaf into an excellent quality cigar takes place.
Lovers of Canarian architecture, vacationing in Puerto Naos, can rent a car in in the Canaries and go on a short trip. The city of Tazacorte is just 15 minutes away. Having arrived there, you can look at the Church of St. Michael of the 14th century, ancient fountains, plantations of banana trees, mountains. If you wish, you can swim on Tazacorte beach and take a walk along the promenade. The city has a port from which during the day you can go on a boat trip to see dolphins, and in the late afternoon go on a boat to the Beautiful Cave and admire its walls golden in the sun. Thanks to the car, from Tazacorte you can go to the neighboring city of Los Llanos de Aridane. Here is a magnificent historic center with narrow streets, Canarian-style houses with carved wooden balconies and a baroque church. Leaving the vehicle in the parking lot, take a walk through the Old Town, which is a pedestrian area. Then return to your resort, part of which you can see before your vacation at any time convenient for you, because the webcam La Palma (Canary Islands) – Puerto Naos Beach broadcasts the image around the clock. The picture is updated every 3-5 seconds, as evidenced by the timer in its upper right corner.

Tazacorte – Photo and description of the resort
On the west coast of the green island (as the locals call La Palma), one of the main resort places is Tazacorte. It has everything for a great holiday: an equipped beach, a lot of cafes where you can try local cuisine (which the island is famous for), shops to bring gifts and souvenirs. Lovers of attractions will also find entertainment.
It was from Tazacorte that Alonso Fernando de Lugo once began his path of conquest of La Palma back in 1492. The warm climate contributes to the fact that most of the territory (85%) is occupied by plantations on which banana palms grow. There is also one near Tazacorte.
The resort is located, as mentioned above, in the western part of the island. It occupies the right slope of the Barranco de las Angustias (the name translates as the Ravine of Sorrows) – part of the Caldera de Taburiente gorge.
The distance from the airport to this resort is 36 km. You can overcome it without any problems on regular buses that run regularly between the cities of the island.
You will have to fly to La Palma from Moscow with a transfer – there is no direct flight connection. From Moscow, you need to get either to another island of the Canary archipelago – Tenerife, or to one of the cities in Europe, from which a direct flight is organized immediately to La Palma airport. Such cities are Berlin, Barcelona, Amsterdam and others. If the option with a transfer in Tenerife is chosen, planes of local airlines will deliver to La Palma.
The climate in the city is Mediterranean, which means that even in cold weather, according to the calendar, the thermometer does not fall below 17-18 degrees. This applies not only to air, but also to water. So, the rest here will be quite comfortable, no matter what time of the year is chosen. Of course, few will dare to swim in the Atlantic Ocean in winter, after all, the water is cool, but the resort hospitably invites you to bask in the rays of the gentle sun.
The hottest time is in August-September, when both air and water warm up to +25. The season lasts from July to September, the conditions remain quite comfortable in October. Tazacorte is considered the warmest region of the island.
For tourists in the city there are apartments and hotels, bungalows and holiday homes. Most of them do not have star status, but this does not prevent them from receiving flattering reviews from the guests of the resort. Residencial Las Norias and Apartamentos Finca La Cruz, Hacienda de Abajo by Vikhotels, for example, are rated “amazing”, while Atlantis and Isa apartments are rated “good”.
There are two of them in the resort. Quite small – only 50×10 m, in which the port for privately owned boats is located, is called Puerto de Tazacorte. The second – simply Tazacorte – has a much larger seating area. It stretches along the coast for 500 meters, the width is 50 meters. If the first one is completely sandy and the waves are small there, then there are gravel sections on the second one. The color of the sand is black. And the waves on Tazacorta are either moderate or strong.
What to see
The long embankment of the city is rich – there are numerous cafes, bars, restaurants, shops.
