Fuerteventura with kids at amazing Suite Hotel Atlantis Resort –

Winter time in Europe is not the most attractive season, that’s why we decided to escape the winter blues in February by flying to The Canary Islands. There are eight main islands and some more smaller islands. The most popular ones are Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote. But we decided to pay a visit to the best all-inclusive resort at Fuerteventura, on the island of beautiful beaches and great family resorts. Furthermore Fuerteventura is well known for being a child friendly destination. If you are wondering where else you can go with kids in Europe, read 10 Best family friendly cities in Europe.

Pool area at Suite Hotel Atlantis Resort, Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura is famous for year-round sunshine, about 3000 hours of lovely baking sun per year. It’s also known for the biggest and best beaches in the Canaries. The island is situated in the Atlantic Ocean, one hundred kilometres off the coast of Africa. It was formed by ancient volcanoes and shaped by the winds from the Sahara desert. No wonder that it was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2009.

Play with kids at Suite Hotel Atlantis Resort, Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura is not only the perfect destination with kids but also an ideal place to master the waves and enjoy windsurfing. Yoga lovers will be also spoiled with various retreats. All in one it’s an ideal destination for those who love sport or want to enjoy luxury resorts. It’s without a doubt a perfect holiday destination for families, couples and surfers.

What language do they speak in Fuerteventura?

The Canary Islands are a part of Spain that’s why the official language is Spanish. However because of the great touristic development many people speak English and German.

How to get to Fuerteventura?

To get to Fuerteventura from Brussels, you need to take a 4h flight. The easiest way to get to the airport is to use Easy Transport services like we did. Especially if you are travelling in the early morning and would prefer to have a stress free start of your holidays. Anyway we flew with Ryanair, the flight was a bit long especially with our child but it was still manageable. Just take plenty of snacks and some entertaining toys to keep your kiddo busy.

After our arrival at Airport De Fuerteventura we decided to take a taxi. Our aim this time was to enjoy the pool and the activities inside the Suite Hotel Atlantis Fuerteventura Resort. It took us around 30 minutes to get to our destination for the price of 50€. But if you want to discover the island then I would definitely suggest to rent a car and drive around. As a volcanic nature reserve, the island is completely free from traffic and the roads are very well maintained.

Why you should stay at Suite Hotel Atlantis Fuerteventura Resort

Amazing Suite Hotel Atlantis Resort, FuerteventuraMiniClub at Suite Hotel Atlantis Resort, Fuerteventura

Suite Hotel Atlantis Fuerteventura Resort is located only 50m away from Corralejo, on Fuerteventura’s north coast. It offers everything what could satisfy your holiday wishes: From various swimming pools, a spa, fitness centre to a delicious all-inclusive buffet. It’s an ideal place to come with the kids because of the playground and activity clubs for children organised at Atlantini Mini Club. Our little one didn’t want to get out of the heated baby pool. That’s why we needed to get tons of sunscreen to protect him from the vicious Canarian sun.

Due to the mild temperatures of around 21 degrees and strong wind swimming was not always very pleasant but there were also deep swimming pool with warm water. Which is a great extra. Another amazing feature is the 6 bars, such as a cocktail bar and a poolside bar you can frequent to help you stay hydrated. Or also enjoy tasty cocktails to bring you even more into the holiday mood.

Pool Area at Suite Hotel Atlantis Resort

I haven’t seen the Adult Only area but it features a sun terrace and relaxing area with Balinese beds. So if you are not ready for the kids and just want to be sure that it’s quiet in your perimeter then definitely check the Adults Only Premium Club.

Room at Spa at Suite Hotel Atlantis Resort, Fuerteventura

As I already mentioned we were in love with the modern and stylish facilities. You could see that everything has been recently renovated and painted in clean white colours with blue accents. The rooms were also nice with spacious beds, bathrooms with walk-in showers, lovely balconies and a TV. On our first day a bottle of bubbles and fruit basket were expecting us in the room. On the last day we received some presents: Canarian traditional jams, one with almonds and another one with papaya and oranges. How considerate is that?

Spa area at Suite Hotel Atlantis Resort

I would recommend to visit the spa area. There are two saunas and an outside area where you can lay under the sun or umbrella if it’s too hot for you. I couldn’t resist and booked a relaxing massage. It was a great choice, the masseur was very professional: It was not too soft not too hard. One hour passed by like a minute!

Queit Pool area at Suite Hotel Atlantis Resort, Fuerteventura

The active ones can play volleyball, football and some other games next to the pool. The hotel also offers various activities like aquarobics, yoga and many more during the day. In the evening there were entertaining shows but unfortunately we couldn’t see any of them because of our 2 year old rebel who needed to go to bed.

Spa at Suite Hotel Atlantis Resort, Fuerteventura

Important to mention are the exclusive 5 restaurants with top quality food. Every day there was a new theme and the menu always offered something new. We also could reserve a table in a smaller restaurant offering Spanish meals at “Atrium”and Asian cuisine at “Rambutan”. So don’t even think to visit Suite Hotel Atlantis Fuerteventura Resort while being on a diet!

Buffet at Suite Hotel Atlantis Resort

What to do outside of Suite Hotel Atlantis Fuerteventura Resort

Suite Hotel Atlantis Fuerteventura Resort offers a free shuttle service at specific set times to the nearby beach, Natural Park Corralejo Dunes. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy the beautiful beach side of Fuertventura and take some memorable pictures. But again just be sure to take plenty of sunscreen.

Corralejo, Fuerteventura

You can also visit Corralejo, a town located close to the resort so you can easily reach it by foot. The once small fishing village has grown into vivid and colourful town with the help of the development of tourism. On the main street in the town you will find most of the shops, bars and restaurants. There is also a beautiful harbour where you can enjoy a cocktail and watch the sailing boats. The atmosphere is very charming and laid back.

Explore Suite Hotel Atlantis Fuerteventura Resort

There are also plenty of possibilities to enjoy water sport like windsurfing or kayaking. So there is definitely no time to get bored on the Canary island of Fuerteventura! And for those who are searching 5-star luxury hotel in Fuerteventura and want to be treated like a king I would recommend to visit Gran Hotel Bahia Real.

If you would like to stay here too you can contact Suite Hotel Atlantis Resort, Fuerteventura via email [email protected] or phone number +34 928 536 151

Where to stay in Fuerteventura for a perfect vacation

Going to Fuerteventura for the first time!!! Let me help you choose the best place to stay by describing some of the best locations.

First of all you need to decide whether you plan to spend your vacation relaxing by the sea or in natural surroundings. Do you want to try your hand at water sports or spend your days trekking, or you just want to enjoy the island’s nightlife!!!! No worry you will be spoiled for choice!!!

Ajuy beach

Exploring the island is a must, therefore I suggest you rent a car, as distances from one place to the other can take up to two hours. Without your own car you may not be able to see some of the most fascinating places in “Fuerteventura“.

Overview of the best locations where to stay in Fuerteventura

If it’s the first time you go to Fuerteventura, you could be a bit confused on which is the best place to stay.

Below you will find an overview with a map of the various areas and their characteristics, as well as some advice on where to look for a hotel according to your needs.

Whether you are in Fuerteventura with your family or as a couple?? Do you want to surf, windsurf or kitesurf?? Are you looking for nightlife or you just want to relax and take it easy??? Do you have a car? All questions that you must answer before choosing the best place to stay for you.

As a couple, the best option could be, El Cotillo on the west coast, an old fishing village where you can enjoy beautiful sunsets, take romantic walks along the most spectacular cliffs of the island and lovely beaches with turquoise waters.

Are you looking for a quiet little town with beautiful beaches, well then Morro Jable might be the best place for you. I really enjoyed it, you’ll find nice restaurants, beautiful beaches and plenty of pubs and clubs to have a quiet drink after dinner.

You are going with your family and have kids well then Caleta de Fuste is the place to be! Fuerteventura is indeed very windy (hence its name) but in Caleta de Fuste you will find a wide and well-protected beach. Children can play safely in the calm waters.

Caleta de Fuste is a lovely town and most of the restaurants and bars are open throughout the year.

Costa Calma is another great place, especially from October to April. The water is shallow and the beach spectacular. I would suggest to avoid it in July and August, as during those months it is much more windy.

For young people who are also looking for some nightlife, Corralejo is the best area to stay: the movida is lively and you can find plenty of things to do in the surrounding area, as for example ride a buggy along the coast. You could also take the ferry to Lanzarote for a day trip and see both islands or visit the beautiful Isla de Los Lobos.

In Corralejo you will also find excellent beaches for surfing, windsurfing or just relaxing after a good night out.

Corralejo beach

El Cotillo is one of the best spots on the island for surfing and beach sports. Here you will find beaches for beginners as well as experienced surfers. El Cotillo is famous for its wind as well as its waves. The windy season usually starts in March/April and ends in October/November.

If you arrive by plane and you do not want to rent a car, then you should stay in Puerto del Rosario, which is the hub of the public bus network: from there you can reach most of the main destinations in Fuerteventura. You will also find beaches, and although the town, in my opinion, is not really that nice, you can eat well and the accommodations are fairly inexpensive.

Gran Tarajal is one of the quieter places on the island, but you will still find good facilities (restaurants, bars, supermarkets, etc. ) and a large wide beach sheltered from the wind and waves. Here you will experience more of the local Spanish life since the number of tourists is rather limited.

Fuerteventura: North or South!!

The island’s name in English translates as “strong fortune” or “strong wind“, so you can immagine that even if the island is really beautiful wind can be a big problem. With proper care, however, you can somehow manage to “dodge” it.

If you have to decide whether it is better to stay at the North or South of Fuerteventura, you should consider the following:

Usually, the northern part of the island has the windiest but also the sunniest climate, while the central and southern parts of Fuerteventura will generally be sunny, warm, and therefore have pleasant weather most of the time.

The less windy area of Fuerteventura is the northeastern coast. In this respect, Caleta de Fuste is an ideal place to stay, even during summer when the wind is stronger than during the rest of the year.

Keep in mind that, on average, the island has a sharp drop in wind between September and November. Another option is to stay in Morro Jable, which is sheltered mainly from the northeast wind, although, when I went a crazy wind was blowing anyway.

So to answer the question of whether to stay in the north or the south, the answer for me is in the south – plus Caleta de Fuste!

1- Where to stay in Fuerteventura for young people: Corralejo

I love Corralejo and most probably it is the best-known and most popular destination in Fuerteventura.

Located in the northern part of the island, Corralejo is an oasis of dunes of light-colored sand and crystal clear waters! You will notice the beauty of this area along the way from the airport: imagine a long road with sand on both sides and the bluest of seas an incredible scenery.

The city, despite not being the main town, offers everything you need to enjoy your vacation.

In Corralejo you will find stores, pharmacies, banks, post office, restaurants and bars: in short, everything you may need.

Many excursions, tours, ferries and boats depart daily from the port to visit Isla de Los Lobos, for Whale Watching or to reach Lanzarote.

The surroundings, are famous for the Dunes of Corralejo, a protected desert area that from the hinterland seems to literally dive into the sea. Corralejo‘s most beautiful and famous beach, Playa Grande is 10 km long: and the dunes of light-colored sand meet the sea and create a magical picture.

With its relaxed atmosphere and lively port, Corralejo represents the perfect Spanish vacation spot. If you are visiting Fuerteventura for the first time, Corralejo is definitely the best place to stay.

Corralejo is also perfect for the young looking for a lively nightlife: it may not compare to other Spanish islands, but defends itself well with its live music venues, a few discos, and bars that stay open late.

Best things to do in Corralejo:

  • Spend a fun day with your family at the Acua Water Park
  • Enjoy a family day at Corralejo Viejo beach
  • Explore Corralejo‘s nightlife
  • Take a trip to Isla de Los Lobos or visit Lanzarote with only a 30 minutes ferry ride
  • Sip a drink at the Flicks Karaoke & Disco Bar
  • Enjoy surfing at the Playa del Medio
  • Visit the Corralejo Natural Park

2 – Where to stay in Fuerteventura for the beaches: Morro Jable

On the other side of the island, to the south, you find Morro Jable, an old fishing village that is now one of Fuerteventura’s most popular location. This fishing village has managed to maintain its authentic local atmosphere even though it is a very popular location, especially among German tourists.

As in Corralejo here you will find everything you need (from stores to restaurants) and a decent nightlife.

The center is pleasant for a stroll, and the long sandy beach is perfect for a stay with the little ones. On the waterfront you can take pleasant walks or go cycling. At the port you will find many restaurants and bars that, as you may have guessed, offer the best seafood specialities, after all, it is a fishing village!

Furthermore, Morro Jable’s location is perfect to explore the Jandia Peninsula and reach the wonderful Cofete Beach. Playa de Cofete is surrounded by the highest cliffs on one side and the most magical turquoise waters on the other and is not too far down the coast from Morro Jable.

It can be reached by public transportation or you can rent a car and get there in less than an hour.

In Morro Jable you will find different types of accommodation: from B&B, apartments, and residences with swimming pools.

Playas de Jandía is also a good area to stay in Fuerteventura. Some of the most beautiful beaches in Fuerteventura are here, so if you are looking for beach tourism and want to relax, this is really the place to be.

If you have children you should know that this is a popular area for naturists, you will also find sandbars a few meters wide that create blue lagoons where anyone can windsurf or kitesurf. It is a good place to spend your vacation if you want to learn one of these sports.

3 – Where to stay in Fuerteventura if you do not have a car: Puerto del Rosario

Puerto del Rosario is the capital of Fuerteventura and, as you might imagine, offers many services.

Unlike the other towns on the island, this is definitely the less characteristic, but it is a very convenient and fairly inexpensive place to sleep in Fuerteventura.

The town is close to the airport, and both cruise ships and ferries that depart for the other Canary Islands dock at the port.

From here you can rent a car to get you around and explore the island.

The center of Puerto del Rosario and its waterfront are full of stores, restaurants, and tapas bars.

In fact, the town sits across a small bay with a sandy beach that is usually sheltered from the winds, which means it’s a safe place for children and you’ll find all the facilities you need such as sunbeds and umbrellas.

Located on the east coast, this location is close to the airport and full of bars, restaurants and great hotels, perfect for families traveling with young children. This part of the island has a relaxed atmosphere and is very quiet, the waterfront offers wonderful views of the whole town and is a lovely place where you can take long walks at sunset.

This touristic center is definitely quieter than the other locations, and in the evening, after dinner, life flows quietly while sipping a cocktail or a beer in the local bars. If you are looking for discos or a livelier nightlife, then it is better if you go to Corralejo.

Another plus in staying in Caleta de Fuste is its proximity to the airport and good location for exploring the rest of the island.

I recommend staying in Costa Calma if you love water sports: surfing and windsurfing are the best activities to do there.

Another particularly popular destination for surfers and romantic people is the magical El Cotillo. Reaching the beaches to the left of Faro Toston, in fact, it is possible to enjoy not only the wind and waves, but also romantic sunsets.

Located on the northwest side of the island and characterized by small houses and white sand, El Cotillo is the best place in Fuerteventura for romantic walks on the beach and peaceful sunsets near the cliffs. Furthermore, this former fishing village is never too crowded so it is perfect if you are looking for a calm and relaxed vacation.

Holidays in Greece with children – where to go in summer?

Vestnik ATOR figured out which Greek resorts and hotels will be the most memorable family holiday with children in Greece this year, what nuances travelers should take into account when choosing a resort and hotel in this hospitable country.

HOLIDAYS IN GREECE: VISA AND FLIGHT

Greece is a great option for families with children: a short flight, a long swimming season, a large selection of resorts for every taste and budget – these are not all the pluses, because there is also an ancient history and unusually delicious food. Tourists are also attracted by a fairly wide range of accommodation options: from cozy apart-hotels to chic hotel complexes that are part of the world’s most famous chains. And one more thing – children, wherever you stay, are extremely loved, praised and pampered, and you will feel it from the first minutes of your vacation.

A visa to Greece is issued in a fairly short time, for children under 6 years old, a visa is issued free of charge, up to 12 years old at a discount. For the second year, the Greek consulate is actively issuing visas for 1 year or more under certain conditions, so this is a great chance to get a “long” visa to the Schengen countries.

Greek visa for children under 6 years old is issued free of charge, for children under 12 years old – with a discount

How to fly? For the summer period, charter flights are organized from Moscow, St. Petersburg and some regions of Russia to Crete (Heraklion, Chania airports), Corfu, Rhodes, Zakynthos, Thassos, Halkidiki (Thessaloniki airport), Peloponnese (Araxos and Kalamata). It will be a direct flight without connections and an hour or two after arrival you will already be at the hotel. Flight time is about 4 hours (to Crete).

There are also regular flights of Greek and Russian airlines – direct to Heraklion (Crete) and Thessaloniki, Kalamata Airport in the Peloponnese or with connections to the airports of the Greek islands. The island of Santorini can be reached by ferry or visited as part of a cruise trip.

WHICH HOTEL TO CHOOSE

Photo: pixabay. com

If we talk about the conditions of accommodation with children, it is worth noting that in 3-4* hotels there will usually be a children’s playground, a children’s pool, and in restaurants there will be high chairs. The rooms will be equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable stay, their design, as a rule, will be designed in a classic or “rustic” theme.

In 5* hotels , especially those with large areas focused on families with children, the infrastructure for families will be much more extensive: mini and midi clubs, water slides, sports and entertainment activities, children’s menus in restaurants and baby food for babies – it all depends on the budget of the trip. ..

The Grecotel hotel chain, for example, provides strollers, bottle warmers, pots and diapers for babies, football school for older children, language courses or lessons for young models. Therefore, when choosing a tour, be sure to pay attention to the pleasant little things that a hotel for families with children can offer.

Compared with the popular Turkey, it is worth noting that in Greece 5 * hotels can at first glance lose in luxury to Turkish ones. However, in terms of the level of service and quality of food, Greek hotels will benefit. So, speaking of food, even about 3-4 * hotels in Greece, we can say with confidence that it will be tasty and satisfying here.

In Greece, 5 * hotels can, at first glance, lose in terms of luxury to Turkish ones. However, in terms of the level of service and quality of food, Greek hotels will benefit.

The animation program in Greek hotels is designed for sporting events during the day, show programs or a live music concert are held in the evening. In large complexes there are also dance floors and discos. There is no intrusive musical noise in the hotels of Greece, here the child can sleep peacefully during the day.

With sunbeds and umbrellas the situation is as follows. All beaches in Greece are municipal, but, as a rule, 5 * complexes located on the coast have rented sections of beaches with free sunbeds and umbrellas .

If the beach near the hotel is urban / municipal, then sunbeds and umbrellas will be paid: 5-7 euros per item. We recommend that you check this point with the tour operator in advance.

CATERING IN GREECE HOTELS AND OUTSIDE THEM

Photo: pixabay. com

More and more hotels in Greece operate on an all-inclusive basis and this is an excellent choice for families with children: the quality and variety of dishes are always at the highest level. Fresh products, classic recipes and fresh air will awaken the appetite of even the little ones. If you plan to actively travel around Greece, go on excursions, then it is better to book breakfast or half board, but with children they usually spend the maximum time in a hotel and therefore “all inclusive” is definitely more profitable than .

Hotels operating on a “breakfast” or “breakfast and dinner” diet, as a rule, have a restaurant or snack bar on their territory where you can have lunch or dinner. It is also very important when choosing a “limited” breakfast / dinner meal to understand if there are cafes and restaurants nearby, taverns to try authentic Greek food, and not just “for tourists”. If you choose not “all inclusive”, then consider when planning a family vacation additional costs : the cost of lunch in a tavern outside the hotel can vary between 6-15 euros per person, dinner – between 17-25 euros.

The cost of lunch in a tavern outside the hotel can vary between 6-15 euros per person, dinner – within 17-25 euros.

We will mark with a special column apartments – these are small hotels in which all rooms are equipped with kitchens. As a rule, these are one-room and with 1/2/3 bedrooms and a living room, a kitchen fully equipped with utensils and household appliances, with a small hotel area, from the infrastructure there is usually a bar / restaurant and a swimming pool. This type of accommodation is very popular for longer stays, families with several children and for those who prefer to cook for themselves or eat in cafes and restaurants.

ISLAND GREECE FOR HOLIDAYS WITH CHILDREN

In the description of Greek resorts, we will start with the islands: island holidays are very popular among families with children, especially small ones.

KRET

Photo: pixabay. com

Crete is conditionally divided into 4 large regions: Heraklion, Lassithi, Rethymnon and Chania. Arrival of flights is possible at the airport of Heraklion or Chania. Water parks, an aquarium and excursions based on Greek myths will be of interest to children regardless of age.

Heraklion (cities of Amoudara, Gouves, Hersonissos, Malia, Stalida) is a resort with a noisy, active life, numerous taverns, shops, cafes. There is a water park WaterCity. Hotels from 3 to 5 * are located along the coast and near the infrastructure of a particular village. A plus is also the proximity to the airport, transfers are quite short in time. Sandy beaches, entertainment and cozy hotel areas are the choice for those who plan walks combined with seaside holidays.

An economical accommodation option for families with children in Heraklion is ILIOSTASI BEACH APARTMENTS 2* . The hotel has a playground and a children’s pool, the sandy beach is located 30 m from the hotel. It is possible to stay with breakfast or without meals – all apartments are equipped with a kitchen.

Photo from Biblio-Globus tour operator website

Of the five-star family hotels in Heraklion, we can recommend Agapi Beach 5 * (large area, private sandy beach). In the hotel, in addition to the standard set for children’s recreation, such as a mini club, children’s chairs in the restaurant, entertainment programs, etc., there is a special package for babies: baths for bathing, potties, changing mats, and the restaurant has blender, bottle sterilizer and microwave available.

Lassithi is a sophisticated resort with quite expensive hotels. There is beautiful nature, spacious sandy beaches and cozy bays, sheltered from the winds. Here it is worth paying attention to 9 Club Kalimera Kriti 5* The hotel has a large area, with one main building, three “villages”-bungalows and a sandy beach. For children, the hotel has 3 children’s clubs divided by age, a playground, swimming pools and a disco in the evening. By the way, on the territory of the hotel there is an ancient cave in which the tavern is located.

Rethymno – mountainous area, located at about the same distance from the airports of Heraklion and Chania. The city itself is quite noisy: discos, bars and restaurants are open until late in the evening, it will be uncomfortable here with children.

Outside the city, in quiet fishing villages, life stops at sunset and they are more preferable for family holidays. Sandy beaches and a calm atmosphere will appeal to families with small children. There is a large selection of hotels from 3 to 5 * with various types of food. An economical option for a family holiday in the Rethymno region is Bella Casita Family Apartments 3* , located on the beach. Cafés and shops are just 300 meters away. The hotel offers baby baths, strollers and blenders (on request) for families with children.

Photo from the site of the tour operator “Intourist”

Chania is the most picturesque area of Crete: green groves, parks and orange trees, cozy streets of the ancient city and measured life will appeal to everyone who is tired of the bustle of the metropolis. There is a small water park in the area. There are few hotels here, mostly 4-5 * categories. For a family holiday in Chania, experts advise to pay attention to LOUIS CRETA PRINCESS (Cat. A) 4* . The hotel has water slides, an original playground in the form of a ship, separate pools for toddlers and older children, a kids club. The food is quite varied. The hotel is located on the first line, operates on an all-inclusive basis.

RHODES

The island of Rhodes is called sunny because it has the largest number of sunny days in Greece, it is the southernmost Greek island and is located next to Turkey. We note right away that it is not worth staying with children in the city of Rhodes itself – the beaches here are pebbly, with strong waves and the hotels are modest in terms of their infrastructure.

Photo: pixabay. com

The Mediterranean coast of Rhodes are wide, sandy or sandy-pebble beaches with almost no waves and a gentle entry into the sea, which are very suitable for children. The best beaches for families with children are here in the resorts of Kalithea, Kolymbia and Lindos.

Among the good accommodation options for families with children in Rhodes is the hotel Kalithea Mitsis Alila Hotel 5* (private beach, high level pool for kids, playroom and play area).

Photo from tour operator website Coral travel

The Aegean coast of Rhodes is completely different – these are constant waves and pebble or sand and pebble beaches, so young people rest here more. Families with children here can only be recommended for a very expensive, respectable and relaxing holiday in Ixia in premium hotels. Among the more economical options for family vacations, we note here the hotel Avra Beach 4* “all inclusive”).

CORFU

One of the most picturesque islands in Greece: cozy bays are framed by groves and forests, low mountains protect from the winds. Even in August there will be no sweltering heat. The hotels are quite secluded, so you can combine relaxation on the beach with excursions or a visit to the water park. The beaches in Corfu are sandy (or sand with small pebbles). Many hotels here offer all-inclusive meals and are family oriented.

Photo from the website of the tour operator Mouzenidis Travel

Among these are AQUIS SANDY BEACH RESORT 4 * (a spacious sandy beach with a gentle entrance to the sea, a well-planned area for active and relaxing recreation, water slides for toddlers and older children, an all-inclusive food system), and also GRECOTEL DAPHNILA BAY THALASSO 4* (possibility of staying in the main building or bungalows, family rooms for up to 5 people, Russian-speaking staff, large green area, beach with natural tree shade, mini club and club for teenagers, English lessons, children’s disco, treasure hunts and pool games).

For babies and their parents, the GrecoBaby concept works in the last of these hotels – even such trifles as cradle seats or changing mats are provided.

Zakynthos

The island is amazing in its natural and underwater beauty – with underwater caves, white-sand beaches and olive groves. Everything is nearby – from Zakynthos Airport to hotels, the transfer takes no more than 20 minutes. Near the capital of the island, 4 km away, there is a water park. The beaches of Vasilikos, Porto Zoro, Gerakas and Tsilivi will be ideal for a quiet measured holiday. One of the good options for families with children in Zakynthos would be ATLANTICA ELEON GRAND RESORT & SPA 5* in Tsilivi (all inclusive meals, daily animation program, evening shows, water slides for children and a gorgeous sandy beach). Pay attention to hotels in Lagonas, a resort town that belongs to the national marine park – there are sandy beaches 9 kilometers long.

MYKONOS

Photo: pixabay. com

Mykonos: an island synonymous with prestige, the center of European fashion life in the summer on a par with Capri. Gorgeous beaches, cozy ancient streets, many shops and restaurants create a magnificent backdrop for a Mediterranean fairy tale. However, Mykonos is still more of a romantic atmosphere and there are few vacationers on the island with children, because. there are no direct flights from Russia at the moment. For high-budget tourists who still decide to come here with a transfer, we recommend Mykonos Blu Grecotel Exclusive Resort 5* Deluxe .

KOS

Photo from the website of the tour operator Mouzenidis Travel

The island of Kos is famous for its picturesque nature and beaches with golden sand, known as the birthplace of Hippocrates. You can get to the island by ferry from Rhodes, by flight through Athens or by charter flight during the summer season. There is a well-known problem on the island of migrants who use Kos as a transit point, but the authorities assure that they guarantee a calm and serene holiday for tourists, this issue has been resolved and the island is completely safe. The hotels are located quite secluded, most of them have a 4-5 * category and the territory has everything you need for active and children’s recreation: for example, in the hotel Grecotel Royal Park Kos 4* (play and sports grounds, restaurants and bars, water slides).

SANTORINI

Photo: pixabay. com

This is perhaps the most beautiful and unusual Greek island, captured in many paintings and photographs. And you probably remember them – these are snow-white houses with blue domed roofs, descending to the sea. But alas, this is an island for honeymoon trips and cruises – you can visit here with children only as part of an excursion, because the beaches here are limited, rocky and the hotel infrastructure is not designed for families with children.

FAMILY RESORTS IN MAINLAND GREECE

HALKIDIKI

Number 1 among the resorts of mainland Greece that can be recommended for families with children is Halkidiki, the famous “three fingers” peninsula – Athos, Kassandra and Sithonia. Pine trees, comfortable sandy beaches in secluded bays, calm and clear Aegean Sea – these are the colors of nature that Halkidiki is known for.

The two most famous resorts in Halkidiki with a variety of hotel options from budget 3 * to luxury villas are Sithonia and Cassandra . The nearest airport is the city of Thessaloniki and the transfer to the hotels will be within an hour and a half, which is important for children who are waiting for the sea. Thessaloniki has a modern and large water park, so if suddenly there are no water slides on the territory of the hotel, then you should definitely come and have plenty of fun on various water attractions.

Photo from Biblio-Globus tour operator website

Kassandra has long sandy or pebbly beaches, water sports stations, numerous cafes and souvenir shops in cozy villages with a real Greek atmosphere, sleepy during the day and festively bustling in the evenings. It is in this region that the famous hotel complex Sani Resort is located, which has received numerous awards for the quality and level of guest service.

There is also a large selection of family hotels and apartments that are not located on the first line, but close to the beach. They are suitable for families with children who prefer to relax on the beach and spend time on excursions or walks. For a relaxing holiday, families with children of all ages on Kassandra can recommend Hotel Alexander The Great Hotel 4* (various bars and restaurants, sports infrastructure, children’s pool and playground, comfortable rooms in bungalows or in the main building, long beach with a gentle entrance to the sea).

Sithonia is distinguished by a calm and measured atmosphere, picturesque bays, an abundance of pine trees creeping right up to the edge of the fine sand beaches and providing natural shade. There are large hotel complexes with a developed infrastructure for active and family recreation: sports grounds, mini-clubs, entertainment and an all-inclusive food system.

When traveling with children, you always want to know that the children will have fun. Take a look at the Bomo hotels – in particular, Bomo Club Assa Maris 4* (private beach, beautiful promenade with palm trees, sports and entertainment activities) BomoClubFamily concept operates in the hotel : professional animators, clubs for children by age, cognitive lessons in nature, fun sports games and developing master classes.

Athos is less popular among tourists, because here is a “state within a state” – a complex of Orthodox monasteries. But, nevertheless, there are hotels that provide a relaxing holiday against the backdrop of beautiful nature, possibly with school-age children. Among these, we note Xenia Ouranoupolis Hotel 4* 4* (located on the slope of the hill with a variety of food and dining).

PELOPONNESE

The second most popular resort, but competing for the first place among families with children, is the Peloponnese, washed by the Aegean and Ionian Seas. Most of the hotels here are located secluded, on the first line, and have large areas and a variety of recreational infrastructure, including SPA centers. On the Peloponnese peninsula – dense coniferous forests and sandy beaches.

Together with the possibility of visiting various excursions (Christian cathedrals and monasteries, fortresses and wineries, ancient Olympia, the Temple of Apollo, ferries to the island of Zakynthos, etc.), all this makes the Peloponnese a suitable resort in Greece for families with children, especially those of school age.

Among the Peloponnese hotels for families with children, we would like to mention separately Aldemar Olympian Village Family Resort 5 * swimming pool and water slide 90 m long).

Photo from the website of the tour operator Mouzenidis Travel

Experts recommend here and Potidea Palace 4* + (sandy beach, renovated in the winter of 2016, new kids club with separate sections for children from 4 to 7 and from 8 to 12, thematic Spray Park, creative center, Russian-speaking staff at the mini club).

Last year, Greece received 900,000 Russian tourists. This year, this beautiful country is counting on even more tourist flow from Russia.

However, not only Russians fell in love with Greece – especially many Germans and British will come here this year – the demand for Greek resorts has doubled and more in these countries.
