Holiday in Playa Blanca

Very nice and clean resort, ideal if you like walking or jogging as all the paths along the coast roads are all paved and in good condition. Lots of different types of restaurants and bars not the sort of place where the younger teenagers go. All in all we would go there again with no worries.

Typical coastal town for tourists

Playa Blanca is a town/resort located in the South-west coast of Lanzarote, one of the Canary Islands. Here there are a harbour, a nice promenade and obviously some beaches. Also, there are shops, restaurants, bars or hotels, the typical summer tourist place. I came here to walk at evening before going to dinner and buy some souvenirs. Nice. Typical. Tourist.

You have to visit YumYums for a cocktail in the port, best in Playa Blanca. Shop around at the supermarkets as prices do vary a lot

Not much in the way of good shops

Restaurants have great views but the food leaves a lot to be desired. The Harp Irish Bar is great to watch the football and the food is better than the high end eateries.

We didnot care for Playa Blanca. There wasn’t really what I would call a lovely beach at all. The enclosed swimming areas were surrounded by bars restaurants and hotels. I hope they have good waste disposal facilities at these places
It was noisy at night. The streets are kept clean enough though
I am relieved we were only over there for 3 days from Furterventura which is much more family friendly and has amazing beach

A good resort, which when we were there was not too busy.

The main street of the town is just up a flight of stairs from the paseo maritimo and the beach.

There were a good number of tourists, but the town is quite spacious, so plenty of room for all.

All the obligatory shops you would expect are here – pubs, restaurants tourist tat shops and supermarkets.

One thing to watch out for, when the Olsen ferry comes and goes, you get large waves which splash up over the promenade and drench unsuspecting tourists!

Day trip from Fuerteventura

We came over from Fuerteventura to visit for the day.
Pleasantly surprised, nice resort with lots of restaurants and shops (some seem to sell the same tat)
The beaches are nice and in walking distance from the port.
The sea is crystal clear, sheltered and calm lovely for the little ones.
Weather was fabulous but very hot as no wind compared to fuert.
Definitely recommend at visit.

Lovely family destination.

Really clean little town with loads of restaurants to choose from.
Plenty of supermarkets if you’re self catering.
A few clean little beaches and water sports.
Lovely clear water and loads of fish and crabs.

One beach gets massive waves when the ferry comes in. Watch your bags. We almost had our things washed away!
Under a bridge there were two drunks who were also nearly washed away, I found this amusing after one urinated in full view of families.

Ruined by commercialisation. Just want money money money. Sad as another beautiful island ruined

Playa Blanca used to be beautiful and still in touch with its roots of culture. After Covid they have gone very commercialised all just for money and trying to cram as many tourists in as they can and it’s going to get worst now the harbour has been extended to a port for small cruise ships and the mammoth hotel there building near the marina. If your older and don’t have young children the link super pedestrian electric scooters is the best way to get around as for love nor money or if you want to que a hour you cannot get a taxi at all they used to be so fast a now there seems to be none around. It’s shame as we’ve been coming to playa Blanca for years but this will be our last time here and won’t be returning as is going to get worse.
