Cons
Simple and straightforward, the budget Dunas Club may feel a bit plain at times, but the guests here appreciate the inexpensive rates and peaceful waterfront location removed from the noise of town but still within walking distance of everything. The 108 rooms here are spacious, and even the entry-level category have kitchenettes and balconies, but they lack air-conditioning. A restaurant, smallish pool, gym, and squash court (rare in Fuerteventura) round out the features. On the downside, wear and tear are apparent in spots, and some guests complain of maintenance issues and hard beds. It’s a tranquil property overall, so travelers looking for a more boisterous property could try the Aloe Club.

A simple, straightforward waterfront resort attracting retirees and families
Hotel Dunas Club isn’t big on looks. The lobby is a simple, white-tiled affair leading out to a sunny courtyard backed with vending machines for cigarettes, candy, and soda. Just beyond that, a smallish freeform pool is circled by loungers topped by guests sunning themselves to a copper hue. And while it’s nothing remarkable, guests seem quite happy simply basking in the sunshine or taking in the waterfront views from the restaurant or some of the rooms. (Views stretch out to Isla de Lobos — the island just off the northern tip of Fuerteventura.) Several value hotels seem to equate affordable rates with loud entertainment — blaring sound systems or screaming animation teams — by contrast Dunas Club is far more tranquil, and apart from a little piped in music in the courtyard or the restaurant’s TV playing sports, there’s plenty of serenity, which is just how the guest prefer it. Dunas Clubs tends to draw families with young children and older retired couples.

Location
By a waterfront promenade, a six-minute walk to town
Directly across from the waterfront, Hotel Dunas Club faces incredible views of the water and the Isla de Lobos just beyond. (The ferry for the island, which is famed for swimmable lagoons and sea lions, stops in front of the hotel. ) A waterfront promenade is right outside the property and offers a shoreline path bordered by benches. But reaching a sandy beach still requires a five-minute walk. Following the shore, guests can also walk into the center of town in six minutes, where a glut of restaurants, bars, shops, nightclubs, and other entertainment are on offer. The larger sand-dune beaches of the area (the Grandes Playas) require an 11-minute drive. It’s a 41-minute drive to reach the local airport.

Rooms
Basic rooms with balconies, kitchenettes, and flat-screen TVs — but no AC
As with the rest of the hotel, rooms are simple to the point of being basic, but they’re tidy, clean, and offer furnished balconies. Wood furniture with gray laminate surfaces and coffee-colored sofa beds furnish the spaces. Rooms come in six categories varying in size and view, with sea-view ones being the most desirable. But all rooms share the same amenities including safes, blackout curtains, and fans. (There’s no air-conditioning.) Flat-screen TVs are tiny, and they’re not always placed at the best vantage points. Rooms in all categories also include kitchenettes that are incredibly well-stocked with burners, microwaves, toasters, mini-fridges, electric kettles, coffeemakers, cookware, dishes, even dishwashing supplies. Bathrooms trimmed in pretty floral tile, offer shower/tub combos, but lower categories aren’t stocked with toiletries. Some guests also complain of maintenance issues (like leaky toilets) and hard beds.

Features
Simple pool, squash court, and serviceable restaurant
One unexpected feature at the Dunas Club is its squash court. It’s the only hotel in the area that offers one, and several hotel guest come just to take advantage of this feature. It even draws squash-players staying at other hotels. The court sits next to a modest gym with a handful of dated weight-lifting equipment (though little in the way of cardio). Still the feature that gets the most use is the hotel’s pool, a simple, smallish freeform body of water divided in two, with a kiddie pool on one end. Below the pool, a café offers beverages and light snacks with courtyard seating. But the on-site restaurant offers more dining including all meals, bar drinks, even ice cream. Breakfast is included in some rates. Two public computers are available for guest use (although on our visit, one was out of order). Vending machines, a small gift shop, and a dive center, and guest laundry round out the amenities. Free Wi-Fi is available for limited hours in reception, but in-room Wi-Fi costs an additional fee.

what do you know about Fuerteventura?
If this is not the first time you have been preparing the list of documents required for obtaining a visa to Spain, you have certainly heard about the Canary Islands. But acquaintance with the archipelago for many is limited only to Gran Canaria. Meanwhile, experienced tourists are well aware of the opportunities that the second largest of the Canary Islands, Fuerteventura, provides them. Its unique climate has created conditions here that are truly ideal for relaxation. And this island should not be discounted by those who are planning their next Spanish vacation.
Fuerteventura: basic information
The second largest island in the Canary archipelago is 100 km long and 31 km wide. The number of sunny hours per year here exceeds 3000, and the temperature even in winter is rarely below +18 degrees. It is not surprising that on this small island there are four resorts at once, which have long been chosen by Europeans. Costa Calma and Morro Jable are mostly visited by tourists from Germany every year, while English-speaking visitors to the archipelago prefer Caleta de Fuste and Corralejo. The number of our compatriots here is still small, which many will consider a definite plus.
Fuerteventura can be a holiday destination for those who prefer noisy entertainment, and those who are looking for a relaxing holiday. The first is to go to Corralejo, and for the second, the southern part of the island will be more preferable.
Fuerteventura is known for having the longest stretch of beaches in the entire archipelago. And it attracts fans of beach holidays in the first place. Local beaches are considered to be the best in Europe. True, it is worth considering that due to the special location of the island on the western coast of Fuerteventura, it is almost always very windy. Therefore, mainly surfers and windsurfers go here. If, having received a visa to Spain by invitation, you just want to soak up the warm sand, you better choose the eastern side of the island for relaxation.
What can a tourist do?
Of course, the first thing that all guests of Fuerteventura do is go to the beach. The best place for a beach holiday is between Morro Jable and Costa Calma. This is the longest white sand beach, which, even in high season, is not too crowded for many tourists.
If you have received a visa to Spain by invitation and you want something exotic, you can go to Gran Tarajal. This beach is known for its black sand and there are not many tourists here. Mostly it is visited by locals.
Fans of a safe holiday should give preference to one of the Blue Flag beaches – there are many of them on the island. This EU standard is very strict and takes into account as many as 27 criteria. It is worth noting that the Blue Flag is not awarded once and for all. If for any of the parameters the beach ceases to meet stringent European quality standards, the flag is removed.
After relaxing on the beach, you can go to the natural park called De las Dunas. Its main attraction is, as you might guess, huge sand dunes. Here you can not only admire interesting natural formations, but also visit one of the small restaurants offering to get acquainted with the peculiarities of the local cuisine.
Visa to Spain: the list of documents for visiting Fuerteventura is ready, it’s time to catch the wind!
The island is considered a real paradise for windsurfers, and surfers do not miss the opportunity to come here. This is an elite place, which has long been chosen by true connoisseurs and professionals of these spectacular sports. It is here that every year the world championship among windsurfers is held. During the summer months, steady winds constantly blow on the island, creating ideal conditions for those who like to effectively cut through the water surface.
If you are only enviously watching those who have already mastered this art, do not lose heart: there are several surf schools in Fuerteventura. Here you can not only rent everything you need, but also take advantage of the lessons of experienced instructors. And in a few days, proudly demonstrate their newfound skill on local beaches.
Of course, divers will not be disappointed with the rest on the island either – ideal conditions for diving here: warm water, visibility up to 30 meters.
