Where to stay in Lanzarote

Lanzarote is a beautiful island to explore where most places have kept original charm, since construction has been regulated thanks to the work of artist and architect César Manrique.
This led to the creation of low level resorts that feel more like villages.

The island has 3 main resort towns and a capital where you can find 5 star accommodations. My favorite, as you can see in my overall guide on where to stay in Lanzarote, is Playa Blanca.
Below is a simple map to get you oriented and locate the various towns mentioned in this article: Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise and Arrecife.
The famous volcanoes of Timanfaya (see photos) are located on the East Coast.

Fantastic location in the heart of Playa Blanca, close to all the shops and restaurants. Right by the most beautiful beach in Playa Blanca.

Analysis

• BEACH ACCESS – Just in front of Playa Dorada
• VIEWS – Some rooms with great sea views (and maybe Montana Roja)
• POOLS – 6 outdoor pools for adults and children and a poolbar
• FACILITIES – Thalasso, spa (with seawater circuit), sport facilities, sauna end
• ACTIVITIES  – daily activities and entertainment, lots of activities for kids and a baby nursery

Located in Playa Blanca, South of the island.
15min walk East from the town center

Analysis

• BEACH ACCESS – 3min walk to Playa Flamingo
• VIEWS – Some rooms have sea views
• POOLS – Many swimming pools outside with pool bars and overlooking the sea – some for adults and others for kids
• FACILITIES – Gym, Hammam, sauna, spa, multisport field
• ACTIVITIES  – kids club, evening shows and daily entertainment
• FOOD – Good choice – Lots of seafood, buffet options – Huge breakfast buffet with fresh juices
• SPECIAL POINTS – It has a Star prestige adult only section with an adult only pool

• A bit further away from the center of Playa Blanca – Walk along the promenade to get there

• FACILITIES – Spa
• ACTIVITIES  – Music entertainment

POTENTIAL NEGATIVES:

• Inside Arrecife which is not a touristic/holiday destination – surrounded by buildings
• no ‘exotic island’ feel

Luxury Villas in Lanzarote

Another option for you to enjoy luxury with a little more independence and quiet is to stay in a beautiful villas.
There are many rental options all around the island for different prices and facilities.

You can find wonderful places with typical Lanzarote architecture and private pools.

For example in Playa Blanca you can find the Villa Marina de Luxe:

Oasis de Lanzarote is a luxurious hotel in Kosta -Tagis. The hotel also provides housekeeping and wake-up service.

This hotel is located near the Royal Residence of La Mareta, a 10-minute drive from San Gabriel Castle. It is a 15 minute walk from Los Topetes. The Oasis De Lanzarote is located within walking distance of Playa de las Cucharas.

The hotel offers a flat-screen TV and a mini-fridge, as well as sea views from the rooms. Each room is equipped with a private bathroom.

Steptoes, Hollywood Cafe, and La Tunera are all nearby and offer a bite to eat. A wellness center and a massage parlor are provided for guests of this hotel. Guests can work out in the gym.
