For all data based on historical data, we’ve averaged the data from the past 11 years (2010-2020). For example, for the hourly temperature at 10am, we’ve looked at the temperature at 10am on every day in May (e.g., May 1, May 2, etc. in 2010, 2011, etc.) and took the arithmetic mean. We did not smooth the data, so for example, our daily temperature line will have some randomness due to the fact that weather is random in the first place.

The beaches of Gran CanariaDespite the fact that the length of the coastline of Gran Canaria is 236 km, the organized beaches, which are mainly located in the south of the island, stretch for only 15 km. As in all of Spain, the beaches on the island are municipal property, which means that all vacationers can use them for free. The beaches here are very different – with white sand, yellow sand and dark volcanic sand. Maspalomas beach This beach is the most popular on the island. Here, sand dunes of fine white sand meet the clear waters of the ocean, and this spectacle is mesmerizing. This stretchy beach stands out for its high sand dunes. The beach is adjacent to San Agustin on one side and the center of Maspalomas on the other. In the 1960s, large-scale construction began, as a result of which a tourist area and a beautiful beach appeared, and until that time there was an ordinary wasteland. After that, this tourist area was reconstructed and modernized. In this place you can find many shopping centers. Playa Meloneras This beach attracts vacationers who are looking for tranquility. Playa de San Agustin This beach with dark volcanic sand is also made for lovers of a relaxing holiday. However, on weekends it gets a little noisier, as locals love to come here. The beach is 670 meters long, with a slight slope and no strong waves, making it perfect for scuba diving. On the promenade, you can visit several excellent restaurants where you can taste fresh seafood. In addition, there are many cafes, bars and shops on the waterfront. The beach is equipped with showers. Las Canteras Beach (Playa de las Canteras) The pearl of the capital of the island of Gran Canaria is Las Canteras beach. It is a sandy carpet that has spread for kilometers throughout the bay. People come here to relax with children, and this place is also a reserve of marine life. You can safely walk along the coast, as well as fishing and surfing. One of the attractions of the beach is the so-called “Bar Counter” (La Barra) – a long chain of stones that runs parallel to the sand line and protects the beach from the tides. HistoryLas Canteras beach Cathedral of the Canary Islands in Las Palmas The city was founded on June 24 by Juan Rejon and the troops of Castile after the victory over the Guanches (the indigenous population of the Canary Islands). In Christopher Columbus made a stop at Las Palmas before his first voyage to America. On his way back to Spain, he also stopped in the city. At the end of the 16th century () several attacks were made on the island by English corsairs (John Hawkins, Francis Drake). However, Las Palmas was not taken. The city also withstood the onslaught of the Dutch navigator Pierre van der Doyes (). June 28 159On the 9th year there was a decisive battle between the Dutch and Spanish troops, after which the Dutch were forced to forget once and for all about the claims to the Canary Islands. In honor of this victory, the Cathedral of the Canary Islands (Catedral de Canarias) was built, dedicated to Saint Anna, the patroness of the city. At the end of the 19th century, Sir Alfred Levy Jones founded the Gran Canaria Coal Company here, which began the city’s prosperity. Ships following the transatlantic route began to stop in the port. New neighborhoods have grown up around the city. At 19In 27, Las Palmas became the capital of the eastern province of the Canary Islands, which includes Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. Church of Iglesia de San Antonio Abad Next to the museum, you can visit the Church of Iglesia de San Antonio Abad, which once received a visit from Columbus before he left for America. It is thanks to his frescoes that the festive atmosphere reigns in the church. Near the altar you will see the tomb where the brilliant artist was buried. Initially, his ashes rested in Madrid, but about 100 years ago they were transferred to Las Palmas. According to local tradition, every year on June 13 in the church you can meet many young people who turn to God with prayers for love. Aqualand MaspalomasThis water park is one of the most famous in Europe. The total area of Aqualand Maspalomas is 13 sq. km. You will have to try very hard to get around all of it and try to ride on all the rides. This can usually take a whole day or more. The water park has the widest waterslide in the world, as well as the largest waterslide in the world. In addition, thrill-seekers will be happy to ride the slide, which consists of three pipes running almost vertically. For small children there are several small pools, next to which you can find sun loungers for parents. In addition, in the park you can find several large pools, and even its own sea with an artificial current. The water attractions at Aqualand Maspalomas are often upgraded to become more interesting and packed with the latest technology. The park and the water here are always clean – they are regularly checked and cleaned with hypoallergenic substances. In addition to slides and pools, the park has a large number of bars, restaurants and souvenir shops. Perhaps another advantage of this park is the cost. This water park is one of the cheapest in Europe. Added to this is free parking.

The coastline at the resort has a length of 3 km and it is customary to divide it into two main zones: Costa Adeje and Las Americas, the coast is covered with gray-golden sand everywhere.
