Welcome to Playa de Las Teresitas – one of the finest beaches, located in the north of Tenerife. It is an artificial white sand beach. Around 270,000 tons of white sand was transported in 1973 from Western Sahara, also called Spanish Sahara. Previously, there were mostly rocks and strips of black sand. In 1998, 2800 tonnes of more sand from Western Sahara was shifted to fill the places where sand had been lost in the first 25 years.
The beach extends up to 1.5 km in length along the coast. Palm trees, sea breeze, and the clam water provide a perfect look for mental peace. View of the sandy beach is so enchanting that it remains busy for most of the times due to a large number of masses coming to have a refreshing sunbath. It won’t be an exaggeration to say that Playa de Las Teresitas is the most popular beach in the Canary Islands. Reality show Geordie Shore has chosen this place as a promotional spot for its third season. An important paleontological site of Quaternary, a submarine reservoir in the submerged beach is another wonderful spot to enjoy nature.

La Playa de Las Teresitas en Tenerife, la más familiar de la isla
Como te hemos dicho, la playa de Las Teresitas es ideal para relajarse en familia y disfrutar de sus arenas doradas y su mar sereno.
Esta playa tiene una particularidad que la hace más interesante, ya que la arena que cubre su superficie fue importada desde el desierto del Sahara durante la década de los 60. Por lo tanto su arena no es natural, pero de poco importa.
Con una extensión de 1500 metros de largo y 80 de ancho se necesitaron más de 4 millones de sacos de arena para rellenar este espacio y dar vida a lo que es actualmente la playa de Las Teresitas en la isla de Tenerife.
Un arrecife creado artificialmente y dos rompeolas que sirven como propósito para contener las fuertes corrientes oceánicas que embisten la costa, son las características más notables de este lugar.
Relájate y entrégate al placer de tomar un baño tranquilo mientras admiras los peces que nadan en sus aguas cristalinas.
Aunque esto no es lo único que puedes hacer, ya que también puedes quedarte en un espacio sombreado y apreciar las vistas del macizo de Anaga que rodea la playa.
Algunas de las cosas que puedes hacer son las siguientes:
- Tienes la posibilidad de asistir a una de las clases de aerobic o yoga organizadas al aire libre.
- Alquila un equipo de buceo y zambúllete para explorar el arrecife y maravillarte con los peces de colores que forman parte del ecosistema de la Playa de Las Teresitas.
- Los árboles y palmeras que forman parte de la playa aportan la sombra suficiente para echarte una buena siesta y descansar.
Dentro del conjunto de servicios disponibles en la playa podrás encontrar baños, duchas y vestuarios así como varios pubs y puestos de comida.
Además, cubriendo toda la zona hay un extenso un personal de salvamento para acudir al auxilio de los bañistas. También tiene un zona de parking, así como la posibilidad de llegar en transporte público.
Si solo tuvieras 3 días en Tenerife y tuvieras que elegir una sola playa, ésta sería la mejor opción. Junto con Siam Park y Loro Parque, es una de las grandes atracciones de la isla.
¿Cómo llegar a la Playa Las Teresitas?
En caso de que estés hospedado en la ciudad de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, para llegar a la playa de Las Teresitas podrás hacerlo usando el transporte público tomando el autobús de la línea 910.
Si tienes vehículo propio, deberás salir desde la ciudad de Santa Cruz y tomar la Avenida Marítima TF-11 en sentido San Andrés. Desde ahí, continúa tu recorrido por la Avenida Marítima y cuando llegues a un semáforo, tomas la ruta que va hacia la derecha.
Si lo deseas, en los alrededores puedes aprovechar para visitar un pueblo de atractivo único conocido como el Igueste de San Andrés. Un tesoro escondido dentro del Macizo de Anaga.
Por encontrarse muy cerca de San Andrés, en la playa de Las Teresitas tienes la opción de degustar la gastronomía local del pueblo y hacer aún más agradable tu estancia.
Características de la playa
La arena suave y dorada, las palmeras y aguas cristalinas, son solo algunas de las características que forman parte de la belleza de la playa Las Teresitas.
Su atmósfera no tiene nada que envidiarle a las playas del Caribe, ya que su arena dorada que contrasta con la tonalidad oscura y áspera que posee la propia isla le ha otorgado fama entre lugareños y turistas.
Esto significa que la afluencia de visitantes a la playa de Las Teresitas es bastante grande. Sin embargo, a pesar de ello, los fines de semana sigue siendo un sitio donde relajarse es posible.
Comer en la playa de Las Teresitas de Tenerife
Para comer te recomendamos que visites el pueblo cercano de San Andrés, situado en la zona sur de la playa de Las Teresitas.
Esta pequeña y tranquila población pesquera tiene algunas marisquerías estupendas.
Te sugerimos degustar el pescado o marisco fresco y complementarlo con guarniciones tradicionales.
Estas guarniciones pueden ser las papas arrugadas, cocidas con la piel y el mojo picón bañado con salsa de pimienta picante.
A pocos metros de la playa de Las Teresitas se encuentra, en pleno barrio pesquero de San Andrés, un exponente gastronómico símbolo de la gran variedad de pescados frescos de San Andrés: ”La Pandorga”.
Excelente calidad en la preparación de arroces caldosos, negro, ciego o con conejo y pescados frescos. El bocinegro y el peto son algunas de las opciones gastronómicas que podrás saborear.
También cuenta con solomillos de alta calidad: al Oporto, a la pimienta, a la mostaza antigua, con almogrote y al roquefort.
Toda esta variedad de alimentos puedes disfrutarla a un precio accesible que ronda los 20 euros, aunque puedes encontrar sitios con menús que te permiten comer por 10 euros.
Servicios que ofrece la playa a los bañistas
Dentro de los servicios que la playa de Las Teresitas brinda a sus visitantes están los baños, vestuarios, hamacas y duchas.
En caso de que alguno de los miembros de tu familia requiera de atención médica, la playa está bien equipada ya que cuenta con puesto de Cruz Roja.
También tienen servicio de socorrista para acudir al rescate de alguna persona que esté en peligro de ahogo.
Si no quieres ir hasta el pueblo, la playa cuenta con varios restaurantes con excelentes menús para que degustes lo mejor de la gastronomía local acompañada de una refrescante bebida.
Pensando en la conservación del medio ambiente, a lo largo de la playa, están dispuestas papeleras para almacenar los desperdicios que los visitantes generen durante su visita.

Puedes dar un paseo a orillas de la playa sintiendo la suave arena y observar los uveros de playa. Los uveros son árboles silvestres cuyos frutos presentan un sabor ácido y una tonalidad púrpura.

Sendero del Bosque Encantado
Se encuentra a un kilómetro de la playa de las Teresitas, en el que podrás contemplar el área mejor preservada de Laurisilva de Tenerife.
Este lugar destaca por sus enormes helechos que envuelven la superficie llegando en ocasiones a cubrir totalmente el sendero.
Además, si continuas caminando tienes una de las más increíbles vistas de toda la costa norte de Anaga.
Espacio cultural el tanque
El Espacio cultural el Tanque es un viejo almacén de refinado de crudo de los años 50 que se encuentra a menos de un kilómetro de la playa de Las Teresitas. En concreto en el barrio de Cabo Llanos de Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Con la expansión urbana de la ciudad ocurrida en 1997, la vieja zona industrial pasó a convertirse en un barrio residencial ocupado por la refinería Cepsa.
Como un vestigio del siglo XX se tomó la decisión de preservarlo y convertirlo en patrimonio histórico industrial. Ahora se integra en la ciudad como centro cultural y salón de exposiciones.
San Cristóbal Gastrobar
En este sitio podrás disfrutar de sus increíbles tapas de una calidad única.
