Teide National Park is located in the heart of Tenerife. It is the largest park in the Canaries and the largest nature reserve in the islands. Teide Park is located on an area of 18.9thousand hectares, it was founded on January 22, 1954.

Teide Park is the only highland area in Europe located in the subtropics. The main attraction of the park is, of course, the Teide volcano, but the local flora is no less interesting. A large number of plants are found on its territory, many of which are recognized as endemic, that is, they grow only here and are not found anywhere else. To be more precise, of the 168 species of flowers that grow in the Teide Park, 58 are rare, found only in this area. The most famous of them is the Teide bruise. The fauna in Teide Park is scarce – of the indigenous inhabitants, only bats, birds and reptiles live there, the rest of the animals were brought here from the continent.

Teide Park is located at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level, the climate here is dry, rains are very rare. In addition, the climate in Teide Park is known for its contrasts: very bright sun, strong wind and cold at the same time.

It is always cold here, regardless of the season, so when going on an excursion to the Teide Park, you should definitely take warm clothes.

Teide Park is located in Las Cañadas (a giant pit formed millions of years ago as a result of the destruction of the crater) In the center of the park is the Teide volcano, its height is 3818 m, Teide is not only the highest point not only in the Canaries, but also in Spain. The top of the Teide volcano is a cone with an 80-meter crater.

The Teide volcano is active, the last eruption was in the northwest of the island in 1909, after which the volcano acquired its present form. Today, a large number of fumaroles can be observed in the crater, from which smoke with the smell of sulfur comes out.

TEIDE PARK: what is worth seeing?

On the way to Teide Park, you can see unique plantations of Canary pine, which grows only on the slopes of the volcano. The environmental conditions have led to the fact that this pine has acquired an unusual ability for a tree – it does not burn at all and even after a fire, the Canarian pine is completely restored.

One of the most famous places in the Teide park is the cliffs of Los Roques de Garcia. They have a very unusual shape – their base is much thinner than their top. There is a belief that these rocks are able to grant wishes.

Another popular place in the Teide Park is the moon valley, which looks like space. And it is not surprising that famous science fiction films such as “Star Wars”, “Planet of the Apes” were filmed here.

An astronomical observatory operates on the territory of the Teide Park, from where, thanks to the unique transparent atmosphere, astronomers can observe the Sun and other celestial bodies.

And, of course, having arrived in the Teide Park, it is worth climbing the volcano, especially since it is very easy to do. Two centuries ago, the naturalist Alexander von Humboldt took 29 hours to conquer the Teide, today it takes only 10 minutes to climb to the crater of the volcano, this was made possible thanks to the cable car. True, in this way you can climb not to the crater itself, but to the observation platforms located 185 meters below the top. The view that comes off is mesmerizing, because clouds are floating below, and in good weather, a view of bewitching beauty opens up to the eye.

At the call of the heart: the most romantic places on the map of Europe

Thinking of a romantic trip, we immediately imagine Paris: the lights of the Eiffel Tower and the Podes Bridge nt Arts, flowers and dates in small street cafes.

In the Astons guide you will not find routes through the famous “City of Love”, the canals of Venice or the streets of Verona. We offer you to get acquainted with no less beautiful, but much more unusual and mysterious places in Europe for a trip together.

Bruges, Belgium

Quiet, secluded, the most beautiful and dramatic city in Belgium, where time has stopped running. Medieval houses, ancient cobbled streets, canals and forged bridges, the picturesque “Lake of Love” and the aroma of the famous Belgian chocolate in the air will be remembered for a lifetime. Even more romance is added by beautiful white swans living on the canals of Bruges.

Porto Moniz, Madeira

Tiny, picturesque town of Porto Moniz in the northwestern part of Madeira, surrounded by sheer cliffs and the raging Atlantic. This part of the island was created for romantic walks and solitude, away from the noisy Funchal. Red tiles and atmospheric houses, lava natural pools, mountain slopes with broken terraces and, of course, the main attraction is the ocean: beyond the horizon, up to the coast of the North American continent, there is nothing but endless and mysterious waters.

Cabo de Roca, Portugal

Views of the endless Atlantic from the height of a 150-meter cliff make you feel like you are at the end of the world. Cabo de Roca is part of the Sintra-Cascais National Park, located just 42 kilometers from Lisbon, and the most western and romantic point of mainland Europe, which has a special historical and symbolic significance in the Age of Discovery. This place is a must visit for everyone who comes to Portugal, it takes your breath away from the endless raging ocean and huge waves crashing against the rocks. 9

Orange Garden, Italy

Pantheon, Colosseum, Trevi Fountain – the most famous and popular locations of the “eternal” city. But not everyone knows about the small Savello park on the Aventine Hill, which is called the orange grove. This is a small shady park where couples and families with children walk in love among pine trees and many orange trees that bear fruit for Christmas. The sounds of street musicians, an incredible panorama of the domes and roofs of Rome and the Vatican, the aroma of citrus fruits make this place a real island of romance and solitude in a bustling city.

Isle of Skye, Scotland
