Climate in Tenerife

The climate in Tenerife is very pleasant all year round, and it is not without reason that one speaks of the “island of eternal spring”. Nevertheless, there are regional differences due to the influence of the northeast trade wind. In the north of Tenerife is the coast facing the wind, while the south is in the sheltered area.

It is therefore not uncommon for the sun to shine on one side of the island while the other half is covered in clouds. But in general Tenerife is considered to be very sunny, dry and pleasant with an oceanic-tropical climate.

In summer it is warm with daytime temperatures between 26 and 29 degrees, even in winter the 20 degree mark is usually exceeded during the day. At night, temperatures fluctuate between 16 and 21 ° C over the course of the year. About from the beginning of June to mid- December, the Atlantic has a pleasant water temperature of 20 to 23 degrees (September) every year.

When to go to Tenerife

Tenerife is a real year-round destination and, along with the other Canary Islands, is also a popular refuge for sun seekers in winter. It is dry all year round, most of the rain falls between December and February, but even these months are by no means rainy with a maximum of 37 mm of precipitation, for example in the capital.

However, we recommend the summer months as the best time to travel to Tenerife. The season starts around the end of April, the travel time from the beginning of June to the end of October is particularly ideal. The warmest travel month is August, statistically speaking, the most hours of sunshine on Tenerife are in July.
