We woke up at 7:30 am in the morning, with a beautiful sunrise, the sky was dotted with little pink clouds, which quickly disappeared and turned into a fresh summer morning. It was time for a chicken noodle soup, a coffee and a outdoor bathroom run.

El Cabrito

During these trips you really become a child again and learn to appreciate what you have, I never had such a tasteful instant soup. After the tent was taken down and everything was packed in our backpacks it was time to start hiking again.

We found a direct path to Hotel Finca El Cabrito, a small barn, with pigs, ducks and horses at the entrance. Unfortunately we were not allowed to enter the property. We had to find a new way around the area.

A minefield of loose and unstable rocks was waiting for us. After a few minutes we passed this obstacle and reached the beach of El Cabrito, like the Playa de la Gunacha it was a stone beach. While Bella was refilling our camel bak and water bottles at the reception, I was going for a refreshing morning swim. But the water was way too cold and I quickly decided against it.

The Finca looked really nice. The whole complex was a former tomato and banana plantation developed at the turn of the 20th century. It was completely renovated in 1987, and is open for lodging guests since 1991. The special attraction of this bay: it has no access by road. El Cabrito is situated directly by the sea and can only be reached by boat.

The guest and staff of the Hotel Finca El Cabrito were looking at us suspiciously, while listening to their daily group meeting. Maybe because they had no clue what we were doing or where we came from.

The GR 132 led us on the next steep ridge, on which we had to stop every 5 minutes to catch a breath. But the view was worth the effort. The path was lined with cactuses and some of them had small red fruits in their leaves. Called prickly pears, these neon fruits provide delicious juice that tastes like a cross between all-natural bubble gum and watermelon.

You can make a small detour to the edge of the ridge. A nice place to make a cereal bar break while enjoying the breathtaking panorama of Tenerife and the cloud covered Teide. The deep blue of the Atlantic Ocean will extend the break even more and if you are lucky it will be possible to see some Bryde’s whales from up there.

Morales

Continuing on the GR 132 we were heading towards Morales. One of our highlights of the day were the abandoned buildings of Morales and Contreras. The real reason why the people left their villages is unknown. Some sources say the cultivation of lice and the expensive extraction process of the dye wasn’t profitable anymore, others say the wheat farming wasn’t lucrative.

Nevertheless the deteriorating historical building were the right place for our lunch break accompanied by a quick nap in the sun. The shadow provided by the buildings was a welcome change.

Casa de Contreras

30 minutes later we reached Casa de Contreras, a two story high building, or rather its ruins from the 18th century. Cows and goats were following us while we reached the scenery. Today, the Casa de Contreras is a silent witness to past times of cereal prosperity.

From here we walked downhill for 1,5 kilometres until we reached a deep valley which we had to pass. – The Barranco de Chinguarime.

We were rewarded with a great view of the valley while we descented. There is a big banana plantation in the valley with tasteful small bananas. Introduced from Asia, the Canary Island Banana became acclimated to the islands in this archipelago during the 15th and 16th centuries. Today the plátano de canarias is part of many traditional dishes on La Gomera.

Bananas!

After passing El Joradillo located on the next mountain ridge we reached the “outskirts” of Playa de Santiago. In the early twentieth century, La Gomera was known in other islands by their fishing wealth and good economic prospects… so when on November 18th, 1909 saw the eruption of Chinyero volcano in Tenerife municipality of Santiago del Teide, their residents migrated to other parts of the island and south of La Gomera, where they decided to settle establishing the embryo of the small fishing village of Playa de Santiago.

Playa de Santiago

The first impression of Playa de Santiago was a bit misleading due to the fact that we had to pass the area of the Tecina Golf Club. After the barren scenery of the last two days this seemed to be an oasis in the desert. The actual town of Playa de Santiago was completely different. A nice old fishing town with old people sitting on the streets while playing domino.

Wide stairs led us to the old city on the way, we stopped at playground right in front of Barranco de Santiago to refill our water bottles and clean ourselves a bit before searching for a restaurant.

A rustic looking restaurant close to the city square with a wonderful view over the Atlantic ocean was the perfect spot to eat a hamburger with potatas. There was a TV running in every restaurant in town, motorbike racing is the sport to watch.

Unfortunately it was already getting dark and we had to move on. The plan was to sleep on the mountain north of the town, but we couldn’t find the correct way and the light of our head lamps where not providing enough light to find a good camping spot.

We decided to turn around, that meant we had to cross the whole town and the golf club until we reached  Playa de Tapahuga again. I was completely wasted and the constant up and down wasn’t making it any better.

Shortly after the golf club we finally saw who was keeping us awake yesterday night the Scopoli’s shearwater. The birds were attracted by headlamps and screaming while flying in the light cones.

After one hour of wandering around, we found a hidden camping spot and went to bed without dinner. We were simply too exhausted – but still very happy. The “german birds” send us to sleep – nein… nein …….nein ……..nein ….

Description

Playa de Santiago is a small town in the municipality of Alachero in the south of La Gomera. It is located at the intersection of two gorges Barranco de los Cocos and Barranco de Santiago . Playa de Santiago is the largest settlement in the southern part of the island. Now the town has become a popular tourist destination, where you should definitely go on an excursion.

Tourism

Tourism and handicrafts have been the lifeline of Playa de Santiago. A fishing pier has been renovated in the city; this place has become popular with yachtsmen. Ferry company Fred Olsen invested heavily in the city, they built a large hotel complex, hotel Jardín Tecina and the only golf course on the island of La Gomera – Tecina Golf.

Beach

This has made Playa de Santiago a popular holiday destination and has attracted tourists. The city has its own beach, about a kilometer long with dark sand and pebbles. The beach has a gentle entry into the water and is protected from waves.

Tourism in Playa de Santiago is further enhanced by its proximity to La Gomera Airport, a 10-minute drive away.

Hotels

Hotel Jardin Tecina — 4

The hotel area is large, almost all shrouded in greenery, clean. Large and comfortable rooms. The restaurant has a large selection of different dishes. Of the amenities, the hotel has its own elevator descent to the ocean. Jardin Tecina was repeatedly visited by the German statesman and politician Angela Merkel.

Port – Puerto de Playa Santiago

One of the attractions of Playa de Santiago is its port for fishing boats and yachts. It accepts vessels up to 30 meters long. The port connects the city with Valle Gran Rey and San Sebastian, ferries Olsen Express sail there regularly, the trip takes 1-10 hours. It’s convenient and fast.

You can also go on a sea excursion from the port. While walking along the port, you can watch how the fishermen unload their freshly caught catch, admire the moored boats and yachts.

Leisure

Along the promenade there are many small cafes and restaurants where you can dine deliciously with traditional Canarian cuisine and the freshest seafood. Local restaurants and taverns perfectly convey the local flavor.

It is also worth walking along the narrow streets of Playa de Santiago, admiring the pretty houses in the Canarian style, visiting souvenir shops and fully enjoying the measured atmosphere that reigns around.

Hotel Jardin Tecina is an excellent hotel, but what surprised me the most was the excellent service of their staff! All staff members were always very friendly and helpful. It was my mom’s birthday, I pre-ordered a cake, everything worked just perfectly out and my mom cried tears of joys as it was an unexpected surprise. Breakfast is great, the pools are super, the view is exceptional! Would recommend everyone visiting La Gomera to stay at this hotel.

    Everything for independent rest!

    1. Tenerife Resorts
    2. Puerto de Santiago

Puerto de Santiago (Spanish: Puerto de Santiago) is a coastal resort town located in the western part of the island of Tenerife. The distance to the South Airport (Reina Sofia – TFS) is 45 km and from the North Airport (Los Rodeos – TFN) 80 km (how to get there). Included in the municipality of Santiago del Teide.

Puerto de Santiago is above all a very calm and quiet town, chosen for the beautiful La Arena beach with black sand and the view of the cliffs of Los Gigantes. The great remoteness by island standards from the popular tourist centers of Costa Adeje, Playa de Las Americas and airports makes it less popular for our compatriots, including Europeans. In view of this, you have to waste a lot of time (additional funds) on a trip to water parks, transfers, zoos, visiting shopping centers and the lack of a variety of excursion tours to choose from.

The resort of Puerto de Santiago has all the infrastructure for a normal holiday stay. If you have rented an apartment, then here is one of the best supermarkets in Tenerife – Mercadona, and 750 meters from it, there is a Lidl supermarket. For hiking, from La Chica Beach to El Hibisco Street, there is a walking promenade that runs along the Atlantic Ocean. Its length is about 620 meters. Bars and restaurants are located mainly along the coastline, a large cluster of them is located on the Maritima Puerto de Santiago Avenue. We list the most popular of them, but again, someone may not like it, try to be selective:

    Climate Puerto de Santiago

    Winter

The western part of Tenerife is protected by a mountain range from the cool north and east-north winds, so the weather in Puerto de Santiago is stable and very mild. As can be seen in the graph, the coldest time falls on the last two winter months, January and February, capturing one spring – March. The average temperature from 2012 to 2017 fluctuates between 18 – 20°C. During the winter months on the ocean on a cloudless day, the sun usually warms the air up to 25 – 26°C, which is quite normal for being on the beach. During this period, the water temperature of the Atlantic Ocean at Playa de la Arena drops to 19- 20°C. Find out the ocean temperature in Tenerife now

    Summer

The peak of high temperatures occurs in July, August and lasts until the end of September, sometimes until October. The temperature indicator is in the range of 27 – 28 ° C. Due to the cold Canarian current and the sea breeze, the weather in Puerto de Santiago feels comfortable, even on the hottest days. Ocean temperatures reach up to 24°C.

    Beaches of Puerto de Santiago

The main and best beach – Playa La Arena (Spanish: Playa de La Arena), is located in the heart of the resort town. It is considered one of the cleanest and best beaches on the island, due to its coverage of coarse black volcanic sand. It is located in a bay surrounded by frozen volcanic formations. La Arena Beach is annually awarded the international Blue Flag award for its high standards of water quality and safe swimming. For families with children, the beach is very suitable, but due to the frequent waves of the ocean, you should be extremely careful.

From the free amenities service at La Arena, you will find internet Wi-Fi and a foot shower; of the paid ones: two sun loungers and an umbrella for 9 euros (price for 2017), body shower and toilet. In the immediate vicinity there are bars and restaurants, a grocery store “HiperDino Express”, a bus stop, public parking and taxis.

Fans of photography will also like it here – almost every place seems to be copied from a picture. Velvet black sand, blue-blue ocean and the setting sun during sunset. You will have where to point the lens of your camera.

The second quite popular place created by nature is El Roque. This is a swimming area in the crevices of hardened volcanic lava, which are located near the Barceló Santiago 4 * hotel or the Marblanco shopping center. Here you can dive from steep cliffs, swim with underwater masks, fish and, accordingly, sunbathe. The crystal clear waters will delight you and the kids will love to catch small fish and shells at low tide.

In addition, if you climb the rock formations nearby, you will see the Charco del Tacon cave, hidden from view, filled with sea water. In this very place, the locals have fun diving and riding the waves in the inner space. Be extremely careful before going down into this very bowl. First make sure that the Canarians dive without fear and then it is already worth jumping. In view of the incoming powerful wave, here it can strongly throw the body with streams of water and hit the rocks.

    Wine tour

Tenerife is a relatively small island with not only beaches, volcanoes and mountains, but also vineyards grown on volcanic rock. Therefore, the grapes have peculiar flavors that are unique to this region and convey them to the wine. Due to the small number of areas where it is possible to cultivate this valuable crop, local winemakers in the production of wines put quality in the first place, not quantity.

Booking a wine tour in Tenerife and tasting the best flavors of organic wines couldn’t be easier. One of the valuable local products is “Malvasia”, a variety of grapes and good quality wine. Upon arrival, we will introduce you to detailed information on the production of wine in Tenerife, what grape variety is fermented from, where it grew and what kind of aging. In addition, stronger lovers will be offered liqueurs and Canarian rum. And after the purchase, you and your guide will visit additional attractions and a souvenir shop of Canarian crafts and various goods. And even more so, you probably want to bring gifts to your family, friends, colleagues or colleagues.

It is possible to combine this tour with a return transfer to the airport. If you leave the hotel before 12, and you get to the airport much later, then this is the best opportunity to have a busy time!

    La Bodega de Jandia

Restaurant, Bodega, Tapas, Spanish, Vegetarian, Vegan

At the front of the restaurant, a few tables are placed in the narrow alley, perfect for a relaxing meal away from the busy seafront.

“We only booked this holiday 3 days before travelling so didn’t know anything about the island or the hotel. Pick up was fine. Reception was very informative and we were welcomed with a glass of cava. Our room was lovely overlooking the ocean, cleaned everyday to a high standard. Didn’t hear much noise from the room. The bathrooms are a good size with lots of shampoos etc. The restock of tea bags and milk was a bit hit and miss but I just got spares from breakfast. All meals were good even in the buffet restaurant especially breakfast. My favourite meals were in the Mediterranean and I’d recommend booking here. I do have to comment though after initial drinks they seem to never top up unless you flag someone down and being all in I’d expect a couple of glasses with my meal. Always sun beds available anytime of day. Although you do get the *****s who put them down before breakfast then disappear until after lunch no need whatsoever. Pools are cold but ok once in like most in Spain. The hotel in general is very well kept, always someone cleaning somewhere and the staff are a credit to the hotel. We were preferred club all inclusive which worked well for us. The only thing I didn’t see the point of was the Club lounge, never anyone in there and no alcohol. We’ve been to h20 hotels privilege and the lounges there are much better as you can serve yourself. You always have to be waited on here which if busy could take a while. My husband used the gym most days and he said it’s one of the better ones he’s used.
“Just returned from this Amazing hotel having stayed 7 nights all inclusive we can only say it was the BEST hotel we have stayed in and have been to many over the years. The food was exceptional and staff could not do anymore for you making you feel welcomed and relaxed. Rooms were amazing bed so comfy and cleaners kept room in five star order throughout the stay. This was our anniversary and could not have chosen a better hotel so relaxing plenty of sun beds by pool and beach and comfy you just sank into the quality bed. My wife is taking our daughter back in November to also experience this Amazing place so thank you to the management who look after the staff so well it is obvious the staff appreciate how they are treated and work with both enthusiasm happy professionalism. See you November you deserve more than 5 STARS ⭐️ “
“Very spacious room in which nothing is missing and the biggest and best buffet for breakfast with are than 250 items. Also a private beach with good beds right on the sea. However, one cannot enter the sea from the beach because of rocky bottoms. There is a pier with stairs into the sea. The hotel is +18, so (families with) children are not welcome.”

    Apartamentos Hesperia Bristol Playa

Urbanización Lago de Bristol, 1, Corralejo, Canary Islands, Spain

    41.5km from Fuerteventura Airport

“Hotel is a very nice picturesque hotel on the outskirts of town, a 5-10 minute walk to the music square and main bars, restaurants and beaches. Its a little tired in places however there is a lot of painting and touching up going on all the time and it doesn’t really affect the overall pleasantness of the surroundings which is for the most part clean. Our room was 2 bedrooms backing onto the volleyball court (no net and therefore entirely useless) but with probably the biggest terrace/balcony we have ever had. They only came in to clean once during the stay but you have a dustpan and large brush so its really not an issue. The pool whilst lovely is patrolled by the fun police/lifeguards who do not allow diving, inflatables or ball games of any kind in the pool – spoilt the hotel a little to be honest with their enforcement of this and led to us spending more time at the beach. The pool is also salt water and quite cool but is ok once you are in! Sunbeds are often reserved by residents with towels but if you need beds the fun police will remove towels from beds that have not been used for a while so you can have them – to be fair they are consistent with this so no complaints from us. The reception staff are sadly lacking in charisma and don’t even look up as you pass through reception never mind offer you a greeting. We were given wristbands to wear for security but didn’t wear them once during our 2 week stay and were never challenged. The pool bar staff on the other hand are extremely friendly! Sadly this closes at 8pm each evening as does the shop so its deathly quiet at night a bonus for some I am sure. Overall this is a nice hotel and we had a very nice holiday. Pro’s – Quiet location, sea & pool view, great room, clean pool area, excellent pool bar. Cons – Strict pool rules, dead at night, reception staff unfriendly.”
“Perfect for a short stay !”
“I was excited to visit hesperia bristol playa again after first visiting with friends in 2017, however our trip was sadly disappointing. On first impression the room itself was dated, basic and not up to cleanliness standards expected. We were by no means expecting a luxury trip, as this is a budget hotel. However I feel regardless of this some effort should be made in terms of presentation. The photos of the hotel you see on the website did not reflect what we arrived to. The kitchen units had paint flaking off of them, making them look unsightly. There were no cushions/throws in an attempt to make the room look welcoming. The toilet had not been cleaned properly and the floor corners thick with dirt. There is no cleaning service offered unless you pay extra – my fault for not reading the details fully but you’d expect the floors to be cleaned at least once in a week visit. Especially when dirty to begin with! On the plus side the pool was nice – the pool attendant always helpful in securing us a lounger and friendly staff at the bar. Unfortunately the bad outweighs the good and we will not be returning.”

Corralejo on Fuerteventura – Topography including position plan and island map

    You are here:

    Information

     >

    Corralejo

Corralejo is, after Jandia/Morro Jable, the second largest tourist town on Fuerteventura. It is situated in the very north of the island. Corralejo is a buzzing town – the main attraction, however, is the protected dune area “El Jable”, which lies in the south of Corralejo.

    Map of Corralejo

    Information about Corralejo

Corralejo is situated in the north of Fuerteventura and is about 45 km away from the airport.

Formerly a small fishing village, the town has turned into the largest tourist centre in the north and the second largest one on the entire island of Fuerteventura. Corralejo belongs to the municipality of La Oliva and is particularly popular with British tourists. This can also be seen in the numerous English pubs and bars.

Corralejo possesses a historic town centre with charm. The proximity to the harbour and the narrow alleyways give the town a special air despite its size. The view of the neighbouring island “Los Lobos” also contributes to that.

The town is a buzzing place. Its centre is the large high street with many shops, restaurants, bars and discos. During the day, most people can be found on the beach and along the beach promenade.

Beach promenade near the old town centre of Corralejo

In the harbour, where both fishing boats and yachts but also big ferries can be found, there is always something going on. Many people use the harbour as a starting point for excursions to Lanzarote or Los Lobos. See also “Trip to Lanzarote”.

View of the harbour in Corralejo

Corralejo has plenty to offer for visitors looking for action: boat trips, surfing, catamaran trips, mountain biking, tennis, sea-angling, jet skiing, etc.
Corralejo’s nightlife is the best one in all towns of Fuerteventura.

In Corralejo, there are many hotels, bungalow resorts and apartments. The building boom still goes on. The further away you walk from the harbour and the town centre, the less ambience has Corralejo. In the south of Corralejo, one big hotel follows the other. The hotels and apartments are mostly low (concerning the number of floors). Exceptions are the two RIU hotels, which are situated directly in the dunes. These two hotels are considered as “eyesores” of Fuerteventura. They were built in the middle of the dunes and are very high.

RIU hotel directly in the Corralejo dunes on Fuerteventura

The above-mentioned dune area in the south of Corralejo is called “El Jable” and has been under protection since 1982. The main road FV1 leads to Corralejo through the dune area. On foot, the route from the accommodation in Corralejo to the dunes can be exhausting since you will have to walk between 3 to 5 kilometres, depending on where your accommodation is located.

A further attraction was built only recently: “BAKU Waterpark” – a large park with water slides.
In “BAKU Waterpark”, every Monday and Friday the weekly market takes place. The “BAKU Waterpark” is situated in the southern part of Corralejo, almost at the outskirts.

    Corralejo beach

Corralejo beach is divided into two large sections.

There are many small beach bays in Corralejo town. Here the largest bathing bay is about 200 m long. These beaches are popular with both tourists and locals. The sand is light-coloured and fine. From nearly all bays, you will have a beautiful view of the harbour and Los Lobos. There are both water sports facilities and beach bars and restaurants in order to buy a snack.

Furthermore, there is the large dune area “El Jable” (about 20 sqkm), which is situated south of Corralejo. Here you will find mainly RIU hotel guests but also many “day guests” (e. g. surfers or day-trippers). The dune area is perfect for sun worshippers and beach aficionados. Another attraction of this area is the view of Los Lobos. Naturism is also done and tolerated.

    Shopping and restaurants

Almost no other place on Fuerteventura offers such a large number of restaurants, bars, shops and shopping centres as Corralejo.

Here you will find both international restaurants and small, romantic fish restaurants along the promenade.

The centre of action is the high street. Here there are most shops and some car rentals.

    High street in Corralejo

    Shopping street in Corralejo

In the evening, you can choose between many bars and discos. The “Waikiki”, which lies directly in one of the small beach bays, has been “in” for years.

The weekly market, which used to take place along the high street, can now be found in BAKU Waterpark every Monday and Friday.

    Bus/Taxi

There are many bus stops in Corralejo. Bus schedules can be found in island magazines, amongst others, or you just ask the bus driver. From Corralejo, there are connections to Puerto del Rosario, La Oliva, Lajares, and El Cotillo.

    History

In the 17th century, Corralejo was a pirate and smuggler port; after that it was a small fishing village. Tourism started around 1967, when, for example, the first apartment resort “Hoplaco” was built.
In the 70s, the “crimes of architecture” in the dune area (Riu hotels) were built. The big building boom started in 1980.

        CORRALEJO

Corralejo, once a quiet fishing port in the north of Fuerteventura, over the past twenty years has become the second largest resort on the island (after the Jandia peninsula), while maintaining the lifestyle and atmosphere of a small provincial town.
In contrast to the southern tourist centers “specializing” in tourists from Germany, in Corralejo the predominance of Germans is not so obvious: the northern coast is also popular among the British.
Center of city life – Avenida Generalisimo Franco. Most of the shops, restaurants and bars are located here.

        Panoramic plan of Corralejo, 1999
        [ Enlarge the photo, 198 KB ]

The name of the resort with coral reefs (which are not here in sight) is not connected in any way and is formed from the word “corral” – a fence for pets.
Corralejo is a more youthful and lively resort than the Jandia peninsula. Of course, taking into account the amendments to the specifics of Fuerteventura as a whole.

        Corralejo – low-rise town.

Small beaches in a densely built-up town are always crowded. But in the south, immediately beyond it, the ten-kilometer coast of Corralejo begins – the most beautiful beach of the island. It is he who attracts tourists to this area of Fuerteventura.

City beach (I-29 square on the panoramic plan).

        Fuerteventura

        order

Fuerteventura is the second largest island in the Canary archipelago. It is perfect for both a relaxing family holiday and active entertainment (diving, windsurfing, etc.). Several dozen excellent beaches with golden and black volcanic sand attract many travelers here.

The main resorts of Fuerteventura are Costa Calma, Playa Matorral and Morro del Jable on the Jandia Peninsula, as well as Playa de Corralejo and Caleta de Fuste. In the village of Costa Calma, the picturesque coast of Sotavento originates with beautiful secluded beaches. Windsurfing fans come here from March to October, as during this period the conditions are especially favorable for it. Not far from Costa Calma is one of the world’s largest windsurfing centers – Pro Center Rene Egli, so prestigious water sports competitions often take place in these places.

Morro del Jable is another popular holiday destination in Fuerteventura. Once it was a small fishing village, and today it boasts a fairly developed tourist infrastructure. A colorful historical center with old houses and a beautiful harbor, numerous shops and restaurants where you can taste a variety of fish dishes – these are perhaps the main advantages of Morro del Jable.

        Fuerteventura, Spain

The resort of Playa Matorral has a lot to offer. On the central shopping street you will find a variety of shops, cafes and bars. The city also has a high lighthouse and a small zoo where you can admire tropical birds, kangaroos and other animals.

For a tour of Fuerteventura, many choose Caleta de Fuste, located just 9 km from the airport. The local beach is perfect for families with children, as it is quite gentle and protected from strong winds. In terms of entertainment, Caleta de Fuste has a cinema, great restaurants, bars with live music, bowling, and not far from the resort there is even a golf course. In addition, Caleta de Fuste is great for divers, windsurfers and fishing enthusiasts. Fans of a more relaxing holiday can go on a boat trip and watch whales and dolphins.

The most beautiful beach of Fuerteventura is located next to the resort of Playa de Corralejo. The 10-kilometer long golden sandy coast attracts many leisure-seekers… and nudists, as it is considered one of the best places in the world for those who want to sunbathe without a bathing suit. Part of the coast, whose beautiful dunes resemble the Sahara, has been declared a protected area. Here you can see many species of birds – for example, Egyptian vultures, canaries and hoopoes. Any construction in the reserve is prohibited, so in this place you can enjoy truly pristine nature. The city itself has several beaches, shops, bars and restaurants. From the local port, you can go on a boat trip or deep sea fishing.

        Fuerteventura, Spain

Beach holidays in Fuerteventura can be diluted with interesting excursions. It is worth visiting the capital of the island, Puerto del Rosario, in the picturesque village of Betancuria, located in the crater of an extinct volcano, as well as in Antigua, which houses one of the famous old mills. Inside the mill, there is now an interactive Cheese Museum, where you can learn about the production process of Canarian cheese, learn how to cook local delicacies, and, for example, milk a virtual goat. Goats, by the way, are the real symbol of the island. You can see herds of these animals in almost any part of the resort.

During your holiday in Fuerteventura, it is also interesting to visit the village of La Oliva, which is famous for its architecture. The old governor’s mansion, the church of Nuestra Señora de Candelaria with its elaborately carved door, the art center where you can see paintings by local painters are just some of the sights of the village. Not far from La Oliva is the Cueva del Llano Cave, which is over a million years old. Another interesting village is La Lajite. Here we recommend visiting the Camel Oasis Zoo and stroll through the botanical garden, where more than 2,500 species of cacti grow.

        Fuerteventura, Spain

The choice of hotels in Fuerteventura is quite wide, so it will not be difficult for you to find a hotel that meets all modern requirements in terms of comfort and service. The popular resort of Playa de Corralejo, the quiet Playa Matorral, the family Caleta de Fuste, Costa Calma – a paradise for windsurfers, the picturesque Morro del Jable – the choice is yours. In any case, you will have a wonderful holiday “in the Canary way”!
