The climate on the Costa Blanca
The Costa Blanca in Spain has the least contrast in the weather. Only little rainfall and a lot sunshine throughout the year. However, it is always possible there are a few extreme temperatures throughout the year. There’s almost never any frost during the winter months or extreme temperatures above 40 degrees during the summer months. The mild dry winters and warm dry summers are caused by a Mediterranean climate where the Mediterranean Sea has a warming effect in the winter and a cooling effect in the summer. Through the presence of mountains and hills behind the Costa Blanca the warmth of the sea can be held and it stops the cold from the Inland during the winter. The climate is because of this perfect balance, extremely healthy. The combination of clean air, the tropical weather and sunlight, has a particularly invigorating impact on body and health. The World Health Organization has declared the region Costa Blanca, the most pleasant climate of Europe. The sunshine stimulates the blood circulation and influencing the skin to create vitamin D, that allows a buildup of calcium in the bones. Due this pleasant climate you’ll also be more outdoors. You can be more active outside in the fresh air. And don’t forget that this climate has a positive effect on your mood as well! That’s why people with symptoms such as asthma, eczema, heart disease and rheumatism have a better life on the Costa Blanca. Sun, sea beaches and a lovely climate. Life is cheaper here as well? What more do we need!
Warm summers: The Costa Blanca has a rather long summer season. Already in April the first summer days can be listed, but for the real summer you must usually wait until sometime in June. Then the chances of a rainy day rapidly decline. On average, June only has two days of rain. July and August are virtually guaranteed for tropical heat without any rain.
Everywhere around the Costa Blanca coast the temperatures are around thirty to thirtyfive degrees during the summer months. Inland it may be a few degrees warmer. In contrast to the southern coastal areas such as the Costa del Sol the probability of temperatures of 40 degrees is a lot smaller. For people who want to avoid the extreme heat, the Costa Blanca is also a better choice than the South of Spain. The Costa Blanca is on average a little bit warmer than for the Dutch or English so popular Costa Brava. On the Costa Brava, however, there is a greater chance of heavier showers and thunderstorms. The summer weather on the Costa Blanca will at least last until end of September. Though there is more chance of a rain or a thunderstorm in September. The evenings also are a little less warm, especially towards the end of the month. October is a transitional month with all kinds of weather. For some years in October, the weather used to be quite instable weather that provided disturbances, while during other years high pressure areas treat the people on beautiful summer days on the Costa Blanca. Sometimes the summer even last till halfway November.
Little precipitation: On the Costa Blanca there’s relatively little rainfall. The average amount precipitation varies in what place you are. This is on average between 400- and 500-millimeters pro year. That’s about 40% less precipitation than in the Netherlands, Belgium or England. What is striking, that if it rains on the Costa Blanca, the average amount of rainfall within a day is on the very high side. You have the smallest chance of rainfall during the summer months. Only the chance of rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is greater. The wettest period is from the end of September till early May, with October clearly as wettest month. In October, there is on average about as much rainfall as in the Netherlands, Belgium or England.
Mild winter months: The winter is very mild on the Costa Blanca. During the day the average temperature is between 14 and 20 degrees. However, it can be warmer and then you can easily lay on the beach while in the Netherlands, Belgium or England they sit in front of the heater. Absolutely a lovely climate to live in during the European winters.

Tenerife was at the centre of an international coronavirus drama in February when the four-star h20 Costa Adeje Palace suffered Spain’s first lockdown after an Italian guest tested positive for Covid-19.
Canary Islands’ president Angel Victor Torres has told local press: “The Canary Islands were the first to have coronavirus in Spain and now we want to be the first out of confinement. ”
Today he said the reactivation of international tourism was the third phase of a recovery plan based around Canary Islands’ residents first and mainland Spaniards second.
Insisting the road back to recovery had to be graduated and “international tourism” would be phase three, he told Spanish daily El Mundo: “That way, in October, November or December, which are good months in the Canary Islands, we can begin to receive tourists from other countries.”
Revealing the regional government’s plans for the reopening of hotels, he added: “The first forecast was June 1.
“Today, that plan is too optimistic. If in the months of July or August we can get hotels open, we would be on the right path.”
Meanwhile, the country has suffered a setback in its fight against coronavirus after a small rise in the number of Covid-19 deaths.
Health chiefs announced today 430 people had died in the previous 24 hours.
The new figure emerged a day after Spain recorded its lowest single-day death tally for nearly a month – 399 people.
It was the first time the number of daily deaths from the killer virus had dropped below 400 since March 22 when health chiefs revealed 394 people had lost their lives.

Holidays in October in Tenerife – review of Servatur Caribe, Playa de las Americas, Spain
The apartments are located near the Las Americas bus station, which is convenient if you plan to travel around the island by bus. If you have a rental car, then the apartments have their own large free parking, which always has a place. The building is terraced, meaning there are no internal corridors, access to all rooms is from galleries running along the north side of each floor. Accordingly, all balconies in the rooms face south, to the ocean and the pool in the yard. The balconies are relatively large, but open, everything is in view, so every morning begins with greetings to the neighbors. Each of the rooms consists of two rooms and a bathroom. One of the rooms (the entrance room) is combined with a kitchenette (it also has a sofa that can accommodate a third guest), the second is a bedroom with two large beds. The location of the bedrooms in the rooms alternates – in half of the rooms the windows of the bedrooms face south, to the pool, in the second half – to the north, that is, to the gallery through which guests enter their rooms. The rooms are quite large, the total area of the room is not less than 35 square meters. There are only two elevators in the building, so it will often be faster to use the stairs. nine0003 The kitchenette has a 2-burner electric stove, a microwave oven, an electric kettle, a coffee maker, a toaster and an extremely small refrigerator (I chronically lacked space for beer supplies). The refrigerator is absorption type, without a compressor, so it does not interfere with sleep. The set of dishes is extremely limited, literally three glasses, plates, cups and forks, plus a couple of dull knives. There is also a frying pan, a couple of pots, a corkscrew and a beer opener. We usually took out the garbage ourselves, there were too many empty containers – there are a couple of containers for garbage in the parking lot, to the right of the exit from the building. nine0003 The bathroom is rather modest, without any frills. Towels are changed every time the room is cleaned (unless, of course, you throw them on the floor). Cleaning is done five or six times a week. The balcony has a table, a couple of chairs and a folding dryer. There is also an ashtray, so a healthy lifestyle has not yet poisoned existence here – smoking on balconies, thank God, is allowed. There is a safe in the room, which you have to pay for separately, so it was not used. There is a TV, but without a remote control, for which you also have to pay separately (I didn’t figure out if a fee is taken for the remote control or only a deposit). On the back of the TV there is a joystick with which you can turn it on, change channels and adjust the volume. Most of the channels are in Spanish, but there are also some in English, French, German and Italian. There are also a couple of channels of Moscow rubbish. A flash drive plugged into the USB port is recognized by the TV, but without a remote control you cannot access the menu that allows you to display files. So if you cannot live without TV, then take the remote control at the reception or take it with you from some Samsung. A big problem is the obvious lack of 220 volt sockets in the room, all sorts of devices have to be charged in turn. There is no air conditioning or fan in the room, but in the local climate there is no particular need for them. There are no mosquitoes, but occasionally chic local palm bugs come across. nine0003 Internet in the rooms is chargeable. It was possible to try to crack the password with some kind of cracker, but it was too lazy to mess around. At the reception every day you can take a coupon for a free hourly wi-fi connection to the router in the salon of the lowest floor overlooking the pool. In the courtyard there is a swimming pool with sunbeds and umbrellas, a bar, mini-golf and a tennis court. The pool is large, but there are quite a lot of people around it, so, according to my observations, it is better to take a sunbed early. The pool is cleaned every morning, the area around it is also carefully cleaned. True, I can’t really understand people hanging around the pool when there is an ocean beach in a seven or eight minute walk. nine0003 A few words about the specifics of the hotel. It is located near Veronicas, the center of the nightlife of the village of Las Americas, so more than half of the guests are testosterone-filled youngsters from all over Europe who come here in droves to break away in taverns and clubs. No, this is by no means a brothel, people come here either with their company, or make acquaintances right there by the pool or in the club, but everything around is permeated with valiant prowess and lust. In the evenings, all this people sit on the balconies, drinking beer and strong drinks, yelling loudly in a dozen languages, but only until midnight, after which it is forbidden to make noise on the balconies. And indeed, five minutes before midnight, all this noise and din subsides, as if a toggle switch has been flipped. A ferocious security guard begins to walk in the yard, calculating on which balconies they still continue to make noise, after which he rises to the violators and puts things in order. Somewhere after midnight, people go in flocks to nightclubs, and then the main akhtung comes in the morning, when the public begins to return to the hotel. Our bedroom window overlooked the gallery and a couple of times I had to get up and exhort the companies clamoring near the doors of their rooms. nine0003 There is practically no Russian-speaking audience in the hotel. We took room only, so we cooked our own food, but if you wish, you can take bed & breakfast, breakfasts are served near the pool bar. Although, given the ridiculously low prices for food (and booze) in stores, it makes no sense to spend money on a hotel breakfast. Money for the entire stay was withdrawn from the card immediately upon check-in. Although many booking sites say that the hotel takes a deposit of 100 euros in case of damage to property, this was not applied to us – obviously, our elderly faces were a guarantee that destroying furniture was not included in our plans. The check-out process was simple – I gave the keys to the room, and that was the end of the formalities. nine0003 You should stock up on food (and booze, especially beer) only in large supermarkets (of course, if you have a car) – prices there are 30-50% lower than in numerous shops near the hotel. The hotel itself has vending machines selling all sorts of snacks and drinks. Yes, there is also a laundromat in the basement of the hotel. Regarding the location – the hotel is located in close proximity to Siam Park, it takes about ten minutes on foot. The nearest beach in the village is a seven to eight minute walk. The nudist beach of Playa de la Tejita in El Medano is twenty minutes by car. BP gas station (expensive, it is better to refuel at Shell or Repsol) and exit to the TF-1 autobahn – five hundred meters from the hotel. nine0003 In general, this hotel is a fairly budget and quite acceptable option.

October is the last month of the summer season in Benidorm. The resort and beaches are quieter than the summer months but the temperature is still ideal for holidaymakers. We’ve looked at the most up-to-date weather data for Benidorm, covering the last 12 years up to 2023, plus we’ve asked our team of travel bloggers for their first-hand experiences in order to answer the most frequently asked questions about Benidorm weather in October.
How warm is it in Benidorm during October?
The temperature is extremely stable in October with average highs of 23℃ and lows just 4℃ lower at 19℃. The UV index will be moderate at this time of year, so not something to worry about for the average person. However, if you’re going to be outside for long periods it’s worth wearing a broad spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen and UV-blocking sunglasses. Remember that bright surfaces, such as water and sand increase UV exposure.
Does it rain in Benidorm during October?
On average, there will be 3 rainy days during the month, amounting to 51.1mm in total. That’s broadly comparable with the amount of rain we see in England during the summer months, and would be considered dry. There’s a small chance that you’ll catch a thunderstorm during your trip.
Is it windy in Benidorm during October?
You’re unlikely to experience any strong winds. Expect a light breeze that picks up slightly at times in October. With moderate humidity and mild air temperatures, the breeze will have a slight cooling effect.
How warm is the sea in Benidorm during October?
The water temperature around Benidorm reaches a pleasant 23℃ during October. While generally considered warm, some people might find it a little on the cool side on entering the water.

Benidorm launches a training guide aimed at the hospitality sector to promote gastronomic tourism
Benidorm has launched a guide aimed at the hospitality sector with the aim of promoting gastronomic tourism in the city. This guide, which has been presented at the Madrid International Tourism Fair (Fitur), emanates from the 2022 Gastronomic Tourism Acceleration Plan, developed with funds from the ‘Benidorm DTI + Seguro’ Tourism Sustainability Plan.
The mayor, Toni Pérez, explained that “this guide has reflected the main issues that were addressed in the nine training days that were offered to the city’s tourism sector between the months of February and May of last year”, and in which six thematic areas were worked on: Innovation and Specialization, Digital Transformation, Digital Marketing, New Scenarios, Tourism Sustainability and Accessibility.
The mayor has stressed that “this guide serves as a roadmap for hospitality establishments to delve into their transformation and digitization”; an action that “has individual and global repercussions”, since the establishment gains competitiveness and the destination benefits from the positioning of its gastronomic product, thus opening up new market niches.
In this guide “the hospitality sector will find keys, strategies and marketing, digitization, innovation and sustainability tools” to “face as greater and better guarantees the new demands of a tourist who, when planning their vacations, increasingly attaches greater importance to gastronomy”.
“As times and demands advance, the percentage of tourists and residents who expect something more than eating well from a lunch or dinner grows; they want to live an experience through gastronomy and the sector has to be prepared to respond to that expectation”, pointed out the mayor.
Toni Pérez has stressed that “Benidorm has a long gastronomic history and a diversified, powerful and quality sector that must be constantly updated to meet customer needs.” “Gastronomy – he stated – is also a brand and for this reason it is essential to provide the sector with the training resources that are necessary for the customer to have the best possible experience”.
In this line of generating experiences, the I Benidorm Fest Tapas Contest is framed, promoted by the Association of Bars, Restaurants and Cafes (Abreca) with the support of the Benidorm City Council and the Generalitat Valenciana. A contest that was presented yesterday in Fitur by the mayor and Álex Fratini and Diego Salinas, member of the board of directors of Abreca and manager of the entity respectively; and that it will take place from January 27 to February 5.
This activity is part of the parallel activities to the Benidorm Fest and 18 establishments participate in it. Each of them has proposed a tapa, which diners can consume at the price of 2.5 euros. To participate in the contest, users can vote for the tapas through the GastroEventos app, scoring them in the range of 1 to 5 stars. On February 1, among all the votes, a double ticket will be raffled to live the final gala of the Benidorm Fest on February 4, which includes a ‘meet and greet’ with the artists.
To make it easier for the public to know all the details of this I Tapas Contest, a pocket brochure has been published that includes a location map of the participating establishments and their Benidorm Fest tapas, voting instructions and the contest rules.
The mayor has highlighted that “this I Benidorn Fest Tapas Contest, as well as the different events that make up the Gastronomic Benidorm every year, are an example of the proactivity and initiative of the Benidorm hospitality sector, always in search of actions that give a added value to local gastronomy, making it a powerful complementary tourist product”.
The participating establishments are: Angelillo, l’Abadia, El Mesón, Esturión, Brasería Aurrerá, La Cava Aragonesa, La Marina, Tabernita del Sur, La Tapería, Los Peces, Malaspina, Manila, Mia Social Club, Pinocchio, Pintxos Aurrerá, Taberna Andalusian, Wine On and Bar Zarzosa.
Also during the Madrid fair, the ‘Gastronomic Benidorm 2023’ calendar was presented, which will have 5 appointments and which begins next March, from 3 to 12, with the XI Jornadas de la Cuchara. The next event, the III Tuna Conference, will take place from May 12 to 21; while from June 16 to 25 the longest-running proposal of ‘Gastronomic Benidorm’ will take place: the XIII Tapas and Pinchos Contest.

Where is hot in March? Top sunny destinations for early spring 2023
Ready to March ahead into the sun? (Picture: Getty)
While the post-Christmas months are always a slog for many, this year, the cold snaps and flood warnings have given 2023 a tough start.
This could mean that many of us are already planning ahead for some Spring sun and dreaming of sunnier climates.
With Christmas debts still lingering, you might not be ready to splash the cash on a January or February holiday, but you could be cutting some money aside for a little break in March.
And you’d be right to! March is a wonderful month to visit many parts of the world, including areas of South-East Asia, North America, Africa and South America.
Hey, there are even a few European destinations that escape the rainy, chilly and blustery weather March is known for.
Some places have temperatures in early 30s territory, and for many countries March is considered ‘shoulder season’ – meaning you’ll likely avoid the bulk of the crowds.
Yay. So, where should you jet off to?
Where is hot in March?
The Gambia
The Gambia is one of Africa’s smallest countries (Picture: Getty)
Temperature: 34°C Sunshine hours: 10 hours Flight time: Six hours, five minutes
This small West African nation’s hottest month is March – you definitely won’t feel a chill here.
The Gambia is known for having lovely beaches near the capital Banjul and Serrekunda, but it’s also a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts.
Nature-lovers should consider a stay at the eco-lodge at Tanji Bird Reserve (though October to December is typically birding season). It’s also possible to spot leopards, hippos and monkeys in Bao Bolong Wetland Reserve and Kiang West National Park.
Hawaii
Hawaii is hot this time of year (Picture: Getty)
Temperature: 24°C (up to 26°C) Sunshine hours: Nine hours Flight time: 17 hours (with one-stop, no direct flights).
Alas, Hawaii isn’t in shoulder season in March. But the views are guaranteed to be gorgeous.
As is the weather. Temperatures are perfectly placed right in the middle of the 20s, and though you may experience the odd snap shower of rain, it’s far less rainy than in February.
You’re a bit spoiled for choice when it comes to visiting Hawaii’s beautiful islands. Honolulu, O’ahu, Maui and Kaua’i are among the most famous for their beaches, rich histories and breathtaking natural landscapes.
Dominican Republic
There’s much to see and do in the Dominican Republic, including the capital Santo Domingo (Picture: Getty)
Temperature: 25°C (up to 30°C) Sunshine hours: 13 hours Flight time: Nine hours, 15 minutes
A Caribbean holiday usually promises hot weather and sandy beaches, perfect for sunbathing.
It’s absolutely possible to have an all-inclusive, resort holiday in the Dominican Republic. Look up Punta Cana, or Cabarete and Sosúa in Puerto Plata. (The latter is great for water sports).
But if you want to explore, drive to the capital, Santo Domingo. As of one the Caribbean’s oldest cities, there’s plenty of history to learn about. Uncover some at the palace-turned-museum Alcázar de Colón.
If you’re looking to escape the standard beach break, consider a visit to the peaceful Samaná Peninsula.
Southern Vietnam
Wherever you visit in Vietnam, there’ll be good weather in March (Picture: Getty)
Temperature: 29°C Sunshine hours: 10 to 11 hours Flight time: 11 hours, 50 minutes (to Ho Chi Minh City)
If it’s an unforgettable beach experience you want, then heading to the southern coast in Vietnam is a good plan.
It’s well worth the lengthy flight time from the UK, which will likely take you to Ho Chi Minh City. Spend a day or two (or longer, if you can swing it) in the city, before driving a few hours to a coastal resort.
While it’s hot in the south, it’s a bit cooler up north, around the 19°C mark. Here, you’ll find capital city Hanoi. It’s also where you can embark on a visit to Halong Bay – a classic tourist hotspot for a reason.
Seville, Spain
Seville’s famous Alcazar is just one of many places to visit (Picture: Getty)
Temperature: 15°C (up to 20°C) Sunshine hours: Seven hours Flight time: Two hours, 45 minutes
Sadly, you can’t expect too much sun from Europe in March, but the southwestern Spanish city of Seville should warm your soul.
There’s a chance you could experience a high temperature of 20°C, but even a tepid 15°C is ideal for traversing the city on foot.
Architecture is Seville’s number one selling point – particularly Baroque, Renaissance, and Moorish Revival.
Check out the Cathedral, admire the Royal Alcazar (a palace you’ll have spotted in the hit HBO series Game Of Thrones) and wander the 1920s Plaza de España to admire its many ceramic tiles.
Grenada
The Caribbean country of Grenada is too often underrated (Picture: Getty)
Temperature: 26°C (up to 30°C) Sunshine hours: Eight hours Flight time: Nine hours, 15 minutes
The Caribbean country of Grenada may be relatively small, but it shouldn’t be underestimated.
It has three main islands: Grenada itself, plus the smaller Carricou and Petite Martinique, and a few others (including the ludicrously-costly private island Calivigny).
Of its golden beaches, Magazine, Levera, Morne Rouge and Grand Anse are probably the best know. So you can’t go wrong with accommodation nearby.
But in your search for sea and sand, don’t miss out on the capital St George’s, and a walk along its picturesque Carenage harbour.
Nature lovers will also have plenty more to appreciate beyond the beach. Make plans to explore Grand Etang Lake, Concord Falls or Annandale Forest Park, if you can.
Cartagena, Colombia
Not just heat, but history too. Cartagena’s walled city is UNESCO-listed (Picture: Getty)
Temperature: 26°C (up to 31°C) Sunshine hours: 7.5 hours Flight time: 12 hours, five minutes
Most major cities in Colombia are poised to give you the March hot holiday you’re looking for.
There’s Bogota, Medellin and Cali to choose from – but perhaps Cartagena is the prettiest.
Set along the northern coast, it’s known for its UNESCO-recognised walled city, which dates back to 16th century. Expect to see great art and visit fascinating museums.
You’ll also be a boat ride away from one of Colombia’s national parks, Rosario Islands, which is known for its excellent snorkelling opportunities.
Tenerife
Tenerife is more than a beach island… but the beaches are pretty amazing (Picture: Getty)
Temperature: 17°C (up to 21°C) Sunshine hours: Seven hours Flight time: Four hours, 30 minutes
Few will be shocked to see this Canary Island on our March list – it’s also on November’s, too.
The reason why is simple: Tenerife, though part of Spain, is geographically located in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa. Making it a touch warmer than much of mainland Europe during wintry months.
It’s also got everything you could want from a hot holiday: beaches, water sports, nature, hiking, cruises, cultural activities, an epic water park and of course, the volcanic Mount Teide.
Krabi, Thailand
Krabi’s waters will be lovely and warm in March (Picture: Getty)
Temperature: 29°C (up to 34°C) Sunshine hours: Nine hours Flight time: Around 16 hours (usually with a stop in Bangkok)
Thailand’s weather can be intense in March. You can expect to sizzle in the capital, Bangkok, and it can be uncomfortably hot at times in the country’s northern reaches.
Luckily, there are plenty of island locations to keep things a tad cooler, most offering out-of-this-world beaches, with warm water perfect for swimming and splashing around in.
By no means is Krabi your only option, but this province promises ultimate relaxation, (literal) turquoise waters and stunning views of breathtaking karsts. Sold.
Trinidad & Tobago
Unbeatable views, as well as high March temperatures, can be found in the Caribbean (Picture: Getty)
Like many of the destinations on this list, you can have the best of both worlds with Trinidad & Tobago.
If you want to laze by a pool, there’s no shortage of gorgeous villas to book. But the islands (Trinidad, the larger, and Tobago, the smaller) are also rich in history and culture.
To bear witness to something really special, arrive at the country’s capital, Port of Spain, by March 1. You’ll hopefully get to see the end of Calypso: an explosion of music, dance and bold colours, often dubbed the Caribbean’s largest carnival.
Gozo, Malta
See another side of Malta on the isle of Gozo (Picture: Getty)
Temperature: 14°C (up to 17°C) Sunshine hours: Eight hours Flight time: Three hours, 10 minutes (to mainland Malta).
The archipelago of Malta, on the map, sits below Italy and off the coast of Tunisia in Africa. This means it can, at times, reach some gorgeously warm temperatures.
It’s one of the better flight times on this list, with a trip to the main island, Malta, taking just over three hours. But if you’ve seen Valletta and want to see another side of Malta – why not hop on a ferry to its second-biggest island, Gozo?
Travel time will be added to your trip, yes, but you can stay on Gozo for several days (in some rather lovely hotels).
Here, you’ll explore the city of Victoria’s medieval citadel – as well as admire rocky bays, ancient temples, basilicas, sandy beaches, plus sample only the finest Maltese dishes.
Cyprus
Tear yourself away from the resorts to see Aphrodite’s Rock (Picture: Getty)
Cyprus is usually a winner, whether it’s summer or a million miles away from the UK’s sunny season.
Temperatures are typically in the high 10s at this time of year, reaching just shy of 20ºC. It does get cooler in the evenings (somewhere around 9ºC), so bring something warm for the nighttime.
You’ve got plenty of choice on where to stay and what to see. Classic resort destinations include Paphos, Limassol and Larnaca. For a city experience, try Nicosia.
And if you’re game to party, there’s always Ayia Napa…
Find out where’s hot throughout the year
Before you book, keep in mind…
A March getaway sounds great, but remember that Covid restrictions could still be in place in some countries. Before booking, check gov.uk’s Foreign Travel Advice for your ideal destination.
You should check:
Are Brits allowed in to the country at all?
To enter, do you need to show proof of a negative test, or prove you’ve had your Covid vaccinations?
On arrival, will you need to self-isolate at your hotel or quarantine somewhere else for a set period of time?
On return to the UK, will the British government expect you to self-isolate at home or quarantine in a hotel?
These are all questions you should be able to answer. Even then, the answer could well change at the drop of a hat.

A Report from a Local Expat
Booking a trip to Fuengirola and you’re not sure if October is too cold already?
You’re in luck – I happen to live here and can tell you all about it, first hand!
Table of Contents
How is Fuengirola in October?
Warm, and very pleasant.
It’s much less crowded compared to previous months, still enjoys plenty of warm sunny days and lots of daylight hours. Compared to the rest of Europe, you can consider it to be ‘hot’.
In October, the temperatures hover around 25C, with the only noticeable change in weather being in the mornings and evenings.
Mornings and evenings are starting to get chilli, so you would wear a light jacket. Even with that, it’s not typical autumn weather as you would expect it.
You can still enjoy a day at the beach, the seawater is between 20 – 23C, so very pleasant for swimming. Unlike a month ago, you won’t have to compete for the best sunlounger spots with other tourists.
Is Fuengirola Busy in October?
Short answer – no.
Compared to September, October is normally a much more quiet month with fewer tourists arriving for holidays. But that does not mean the city is empty.
October normally marks the start of the winter season, when the ‘winter birds’ from the Nordic countries return to their holiday homes or come here for a short holiday.
Even with the decrease in tourist numbers, all of the facilities in the city remain open as usual. The sun lounger rentals are still operating as normal, all the hotels and restaurants are also open.
The local travel services are also still in full operation, offering day trips, boat rentals, accommodation bookings and other services.
Paseo Maritimo in Carvajal in October
Is Costa del Sol Hot in October?
Generally yes, it depends on the location in Costa del Sol.
Some cities get more rain than others, for example, Fuengirola tends to avoid some of the heavier rainfalls which are headed towards Malaga or Marbella direction (I don’t know if we’ve just been lucky or it’s something that will repeat every year).
Even within Costa del Sol, there is a massive difference in the weather conditions around the different cities, and usually the further south you go, the better chances of getting decent weather.
Compared to the rest of Europe, you can consider most of Costa del Sol to be warm for this time of year, so perfect location if you’re looking for a bit of winter sun.
Torreblanca Beach in October
How Much Rain do You Get in Fuengirola in October?
On average Fuengirola enjoys 4 – 5 rainy days in October. Many times rain will be forecasted for days, but nothing actually happens as the weather front might change direction.
Even if you’re booking your holiday in advance, the chances that it will rain for more than 1-2 days in a row are pretty low. The rain at this time of year is usually just a quick shower that passes during the day, and the sun returns later.
Beach in Carvajal
What is Happening in Fuengirola in October?
The main event in October is the Rosario Fair, which starts on 6th October and ends on 12th October.
In previous years, it would be a massive fair with food and entertainment for both kids and adults, and the party would go on till late hours. Even though the restrictions in Andalusia have been pretty much all released, the fair in its original scale has been cancelled this year, as it has the previous year.
That doesn’t mean that there isn’t anything happening though.
At the local Recinto Feria, there will be a smaller scale even for kids with an amusement park and some refreshment options.
Bonus tip: If you’re booking accommodation for the week of the Feria, make sure you don’t get an apartment or hotel anywhere close to it. It’s very loud and the windows in Spain have zero soundproofing. Otherwise, you will be treated to loud music and screams every day for a week, till midnight.

Weather in Malaga
Malaga is a magnificent town in southern Spain, one of the cultural centers of Andalusia and a popular seaside resort. Holidays in Malaga, without exaggeration, are gorgeous at any time of the year, however, if excursions and walks become the main purpose of the trip, then October is the best time to think of.
Almost every day of the second autumn month in Malaga is +26-28°С, sunny and clear – only chilly evenings and nights and cool water in the sea (+18-21°C) remind you that it is autumn.
But on the other hand, October means attractive prices: the beach season has already ended, and there are fewer tourists in the city than in summer, so you can book a room in a good hotel for a bargain price or take advantage of the pleasant offers of restaurants and shops.
The most interesting part of the city is its historical center, especially the medieval fortress of Alcazaba. From the hill on which the fortress is located, there is an excellent view of Malaga and the port, and on the territory of the fort there is a small archaeological museum. Not far from the Alcazaba, you can find the ruins of an ancient Roman theater and the 13th century Gibralfaro Castle.
A number of the city’s sights are associated with the famous painter Pablo Picasso. In the city center there is a museum with his works (about 200 paintings in 14 rooms) and his father’s house (on Merced Square), where the great genius was born. It’s also great that almost all the main places of interest in Malaga are located in the city center, so you can see them all on foot.
Nightlife in October is less stormy than in summer, but the city cannot be called sleepy either. Quite a lot of fun happens on Unsibay Square, in the vicinity of the Cathedral, on the streets of Granada and Beatas, as well as in the La Malagueta area, where the most elegant establishments are located. However, even the restaurants and cafes of Malaga are of great interest for a relaxing pastime after sunset – wine and delicious Andalusian cuisine will make the evening unforgettable!
In October Malaga hosts a number of interesting festivals and celebrations. These are magnificent fairs, and holidays of saints (honoring the Mother of God and St. Michael on October 8-12), as well as Pasión Bandolera – a historical reconstruction of the crazy “times of bandits”. For three days, guests of the holiday and local residents of the city of El Burgo (an hour from Malaga) are immersed in the mysterious atmosphere of the 19th century, the era of Spanish bandits, heated debates and, of course, incredible romance. Within the framework of the festival – open-air concerts, treats and mass celebrations.
