90,000 FBI finally admits: Hitler died in Paraguay in 1973.

Video, Unexplained, New, TOP

The Americans organized his escape only to prevent him from falling into the hands of the Russians, reports

According to the history books, Adolf Hitler committed suicide in 1945 with his mistress Eva Braun. However, there is information suggesting another theory that Hitler did not die, but escaped and lived in South America. Official figures show the brutal dictator shot himself in the head while his wife took cyanide pills in a bunker in Berlin.

Their bodies were soon set on fire and buried. But what if this information was just a distraction while Hitler fled, just to keep him out of Russian hands? It sounds unbelievable, but historian Abel Basti explains this theory in detail in his new book, entitled Hitler in Exile.

“An agreement was reached with America that Hitler would run away so he wouldn’t fall into the hands of the Russians,” Basti says.

“It makes sense for the scientists, the military and the spies who later participated in the fight against the Russian regime,” he added.

Basti believes that Hitler escaped through a tunnel that led to Tempelhof Airport, where a plane was waiting to take him to Spain. He first arrived in the Canary Islands, then moved to Argentina, where he lived for ten years, after which he settled in Paraguay, where he was under the protection of the dictator Alfred Stroessner.

“Wealthy families who helped him over the years were responsible for organizing his funeral,” Basti explains.

“Hitler is buried in an underground bunker now located in a luxury hotel in Asuncion. The entrance to the bunker was closed in 1973, and about 40 people came to say goodbye to Hitler. One of them was Hitler’s close soldier Fernando Noguera de Araujo, who told reporters about the ceremony,” says Basti.

This is stated in the channel’s documentary “Hitler’s Hunt”, which aired in 2015. Bayer and his team claim to have found evidence of Hitler’s escape using 700 pages of FBI documents. Among these documents is a report that mentions the meeting of a man named Guidano, sent to meet with Hitler and his entourage (50 people in total), as soon as they reached the submarine in Argentina, two and a half weeks after the fall of Berlin.

Guidano was one of four people who met Hitler and his entourage when the U-boats arrived in Argentina.

“Hitler with two women… doctors and other people over 50 went ashore. They arrived at the ranch in the evening to hide. Guidano is ready to reveal the names of the three who helped Hitler and his people. Guidano says he was given $15,000 to help him with all this,” the FBI said on August 14, 1945.

Another message (also dated August 14) mentions the arrival of Nazi U-boats in Argentina. The FBI Headquarters began sending Hitler’s reports to the public and investigators in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act of 26 April 1976 years in an abridged version.

The Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival last till late February. You can see many (life-size) famous buildings etc. sculpted in ice or snow.

Harbin is also a good place for skiing. If you are interested in skiing, please refer to Yabuli Skiing Center, Erlongshan Skiing Resort, and Jihua Skiing Resort.

February is a good time to visit Yuanyang’s Rice Terraces (in Kunming prefecture, southwest China). It is one of China’s five most beautiful rice terraces.

It looks like a huge palette, with red earth and water in the fields reflecting the blue sky and golden sunshine. Around mid-February, the blooming wildflowers make it more charming.

It’s also an ideal month to see rape flowers in Luoping. The yellow rape flowers, covering an area of more than 100 square kilometers (39 sq mi), are in full bloom between February and March.

Where to Go in Africa in February

Africa in February sees summer in full swing. Rain has settled in across most of the continent, nourishing its vast savannahs and irrigating the tropical coastline through afternoon showers. But it’s not all grey clouds: choose the right destination and you’ll find yourself under Africa’s classic blue skies and gorgeous sunshine.

It’s a great time for both safaris and beach holidays if you know where to go in February, and you’ll be perfectly in time for some of the year’s biggest wildlife experiences. If you’ve ever wanted to snorkel with a 12-metre (40-foot) whale shark or encounter a rare mountain gorilla in its natural habitat, this is the time to do it. It’s time for cool wine cellars on sprawling estates in the Cape Town’s magnificent winelands and palm-thatched bandas on endless tropical beaches.

Want to see blue skies overhead? Book a vacation in Africa in February. It might not be peak season in the most popular places, but it’s the perfect season for a little R&R under the African sun in these destinations:

Saruni Samburu

Samburu & Masai Mara

Nudging northern Kenya’s savannah plains, the Samburu National Reserve is a very different destination to its more famous southern cousins, Amboseli and the Masai Mara. Samburu’s palm groves and thorny scrub are in complete semi-desert contrast to the Mara’s rolling grasslands, but the wildlife is equally as superb. You’ll find all the regulars here – elephant, lion and leopard – along with some species unique to the region such as the Samburu Special 5: Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk antelope, reticulated giraffe, Besia oryx and Somali ostrich.

Remember, it’s hot in February, so lodges with pools are ideal, but this is a nice dry window of opportunity between Kenya’s rainy seasons. Game viewing by 4X4 is the main activity here alongside cultural encounters at the local villages, fascinating guided nature walks and even camelback safaris.

Samburu and the Masai Mara is where to go in February and one of the best ways of experiencing Kenya in our opinion. You get to enjoy the diversity and unique landscapes of the Samburu with the iconic savannah and wildlife of the Mara.

South Africa

2. South Africa

Aerial view of Cape Town.

Cape Town

February is the connoisseur’s choice for summer in Cape Town. Free from the festive-season crowds, it’s as sunny as Africa should be and as dry as an oak-matured chardonnay. From the spectacular white-sand beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton to the shopping hub of the V&A Waterfront, there is plenty to do and see. But our advice is to skip the sun-baked City Bowl and head south for the cooler, shadier slopes of Table Mountain, where plump rows of green vines mark the start of the Constantia Wine Route.

One of Cape Town’s most exclusive neighbourhoods, Constantia is home to South Africa’s oldest wine estates and the February heat makes those chilled wines and under-the-oak-tree picnics sublime. There’s also excellent hiking in nearby Silvermine Nature Reserve, as well as organic food markets to browse and local beaches to visit. Finish off a lazy summer day with a music concert in the natural beauty of Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden – the perfect way to experience South Africa in February.

3. Tanzania

Mafia Island, Zanzibar

Serengeti National Park

After Tanzania’s short rains season, the southern Serengeti offers good grazing for the Wildebeest Migration’s herds. It’s calving season until about March – prepare yourself for plenty of wobbly babies and potential heartbreak as predators swoop in on easy prey. If you’re looking for dramatic predator action, East Africa in February will deliver lions, brown hyenas, leopards and even wild dogs taking advantage of vulnerable calves. If that’s not enough action, February also kicks off the Migration’s rutting season when males joust for the right to mate with receptive females.

Longer than a London bus and weighing twice as much, the whale shark is the ocean’s biggest fish by a country mile. But its great size belies a curious fact: slow-moving, filter-feeding whale sharks are about as dangerous as a dozing cow. Snorkellers have even grasped a table-sized fin to catch a ride! Young whale sharks are known to be playful with human divers.

A migratory species, these beautiful giants grace the East African coast between October and April in numbers unheard of just a decade ago, and February is the best month to see them. Head for the south coast of Kenya or Zanzibar’s gorgeous islands where your visit will happily coincide with the archipelago’s best weather. Chumbe Island is great for general snorkelling, while Mnemba Island has its own marine reserve, and Pemba and Mafia islands are legendary whale shark snorkelling spots. If you’ve always dreamed of swimming with our planet’s biggest fish, then head to East Africa in February.

Uganda, Rwanda & Congo

4. Uganda, Rwanda & Congo

Mboko Camp, Congo

Elephants, chimpanzees and forest buffalo are big attractions, but the stars of the show are endangered gorillas. Congo, Uganda or Rwanda are where to go in February to see these great apes in their natural habitat. Although gorilla trekking is considered a year-round activity, February is one of the best times for these expeditions: it’s dry, hiking conditions are good and the month has the lowest malaria risk. For most of the year, gorillas eat a diet of plain, starchy vegetation, but come February, they can be found beneath the trees heavy with fruit.

Seychelles & Mozambique

Seychelles & Mozambique

Quirimbas Archipelago, Mozambique

If you’re planning an Indian Ocean holiday in February, you’d better pack an umbrella: it’s cyclone season. So why are we recommending Mozambique and the Seychelles? Because they are located outside the cyclone zone and, although there are occasional afternoon showers, both destinations offer classic sun-drenched, palm-fringed beaches at the time of year when the northern hemisphere is under snow and ice.

The small, exclusive Quirimbas Archipelago lies off northern Mozambique and is ideal for honeymooners and adventure-seeking families. The Seychelles experience ranges from family resorts to private islands with everything in between. Both destinations offer an unbeatable blend of water sports action and indulgent pampering and, thanks to easy logistics, both make a fantastic add-on to your safari in Africa in February.

February for St. Petersburg is the low season. The New Year holidays are over, and the white nights are still far away. Therefore, it is at this time that you can expect lower prices for flights and accommodation. The air temperature is in the range of -3..-5 degrees, sometimes rolling into the plus. However, due to the high humidity it feels much cooler. It is better to plan your program in St. Petersburg so that you spend as little time outdoors as possible, and the famous suburbs (Tsarskoye Selo, Pavlovsk, Gatchina, Oranienbaum) are worth visiting with an organized group. nine0003

This is not the most touristy month for the city on the Neva. All interesting activities are moving to museums, theaters, art spaces, warm and atmospheric cafes. The fate of Yekaterinburg is intertwined with the events that have taken place in the country throughout its history. Therefore, it is difficult to pass by the Church on the Blood, which is associated with the tragic biography of Nicholas II and his family. On the opposite bank of the city pond, the Yeltsin Center was recently built, dedicated to the first president of Russia, a native of the Sverdlovsk region. nine0003

What to do on Lake Baikal in winter

What to do if the sarma, the most powerful and frightening Baikal wind, knocks you off your feet? Why lie on ice on your stomach? And also: skating expeditions, freeride, curling, hot springs, amphibious boat and dog sledding: we found a couple of dozen reasons why to go to Baikal in winter. Go! nine0349

Winter on Baikal is real: long, cold, snowy and quite sunny. You will find here all the usual winter activities – from skating or skiing to ice fishing, hot springs and a real Siberian bath. Yes, it’s snowy and cold here. But along with the temperature, prices also drop. The main thing is to dress well and stock up on healthy curiosity. You have never had such a vacation!

Baikal ice

The first cold comes to the Irkutsk region and neighboring Buryatia in early October. But the most frosty days usually fall on December, and it is then that the ice binds the lake and gains density and thickness; it will begin to melt only in mid-April. Snow lies on the shores of Lake Baikal from November to May, and the depth of the cover reaches two meters. But if you don’t surprise visiting tourists with snowdrifts, then Baikal ice is something completely special. nine0003

Photo: Katvic / Shutterstock

The water in Baikal is so clean and clear that the stones at the bottom can be seen at a depth of up to 40 meters. Freezing, it turns into the same transparent ice.

Amazing photos

Where else have you seen people take so many pictures of the ice of a frozen lake? A rich palette of blues and all its shades, from baby blue to jet black, with stunning patterns of layers, cracks and bubbles. The favorite entertainment of tourists is to lie on their stomachs and peer into the depths of the Baikal waters. And take pictures, pictures, pictures. Huge Baikal hummocks and icy rocks only add variety to the graphic plots of the photographs. nine0003

Photo: Serg Zastavkin / Shutterstock

Natural ice rink

Not only natural beauty attracts tourists to Lake Baikal. This lake is also the largest and most picturesque skating rink in the world. Due to the crystal clear water and the strongest winds, the surface of the Baikal ice is surprisingly smooth and slippery. The most desperate thrill-seekers go on real skating expeditions. Tourists do not have to go for such feats: any decent camp site standing on the shore clears a nearby area of ice for skating and rents out skates. In Listvyanka, on the Small Sea and on the southern coast, where the hotels stand close to each other, the skating rinks stretch along the coast for several kilometers. They also play curling or golf on the ice of Lake Baikal and hold a festival of ice sculptures. nine0003

Ice roads

Ice on Baikal has an important practical application – not only for tourists, but also for local residents. It is so dense and strong that often people simply drive along it to the most beautiful shores in cars, snowmobiles or amphibious boats. In summer, the number of car routes is very limited: there are few roads around the lake, driving along them is a dubious pleasure, and you have to walk or fly by helicopter to the most dizzying and untouched places. And in winter, I got into the car and drove straight. nine0003

Photo: Viktorya Telminova / Shutterstock

True, winter roads – roads on ice monitored by the traffic police and the Ministry of Emergency Situations – are laid only along the most popular routes. Otherwise, riding on a frozen surface is at your own peril, risk and luck. Usually the strongest ice is from mid-February to early April. And the main advice completely contradicts traffic rules: when driving on ice, in no case should you buckle up, it is better to steer only with your right hand, and with your left at any moment you need to be ready to open the door handle in order to jump out of the car if it suddenly starts to go under water. And these are not just horror stories: there are several dozen such cases on Baikal every year. nine0003

Ice fishing

Fishermen take to the ice in January when Baikal bays freeze. And since February, when the thickness of the ice reaches one and a half meters, they fish literally everywhere they can get. The most fishy and convenient place is the Small Sea, between the coast of the Irkutsk region and Olkhon Island. Perch, burbot, grayling and the most famous Baikal fish, omul, are taken out of the holes.

Photo: ivandan / Shutterstock

Ice diving

Any diving under water is an excursion to another world. But when a one and a half meter layer of the most beautiful ice is above you, the sensations and emotions are unearthly. This entertainment is available only to very experienced divers who are ready for risky and unusual situations. To dive, you need a “dry” wetsuit, which can be rented at a local diving center – for example, in Listvyanka.

For information on what to do on Lake Baikal in winter, see the Follow Me program on the Let’s Go! TV channel. nine0349

Winds of Baikal

The heaviest and most dangerous thing on Baikal is winds. There are many of them, they are different, and only local residents can accurately tell whether the beginning breeze will remain just a small breath or turn into a real snow storm. The wind along Baikal usually blows calmly. But the transverse ones are very dangerous!

Photo: Anastasia Sladkova / Shutterstock

The most insidious is the Sarma wind. Sensing his approach, the locals immediately go to the shelter. A powerful stream of air is capable of dragging a person across perfectly smooth ice at incredible speed. Forwarders take ice axes and crampons in case of strong winds, but if a sarma arrives, they will not help either. So do not leave or go far from the coast so that you can return as soon as you or your guide sense the approach of bad weather. nine0003

Ski holidays on Baikal

Baikal is surrounded by high mountains from almost all sides, the peaks of which are covered with snow even in summer. There are also ski centers on the slopes of the Sayans. The most popular resort is located on Mount Sobolinaya, on the southeastern shore of the lake. Here, eight lifts serve 12 ski slopes with a total length of 17 kilometers. The highest point is at 1004 meters. The elevation difference is about 500 meters. Of course, there are more interesting ski resorts in Russia and neighboring countries, but the landscapes of Lake Baikal and the Khamar-Daban mountain range cannot be confused with anything. nine0003

Mount Mamai, located nearby, is a cult place for freeriders. Snow falls here already in November, and at the height of winter its depth reaches six meters, so skiing is quite safe – it is almost impossible to run into stones under the snow. But you need to be able to hold on to deep powder and have the equipment necessary for such skiing: if you fall into the snow, it will not seem enough. The longest descent along the Mamaia virgin lands stretches for about three kilometers.

Horse and dog sledding

You don’t have to climb mountains to ride with the breeze on Lake Baikal.

There is also a horse farm and a sled dog kennel in Listvyanka. On horseback or in a sled with dogs, you can ride through the Siberian taiga.

Snowmobile or amphibious rides

Want to get even faster? It’s worth a ride on a snowmobile to see a kaleidoscope of winter landscapes in a short trip – from snow-covered taiga to breathtaking views over the expanses of Lake Baikal. nine0003

And if a trip on a frozen lake beckons you, then instead of a heavy car, it is better to choose the maneuverable Khivus – a small hovercraft. On it you can drive up to the most picturesque natural monuments on the shores and islands of Lake Baikal.

Hot springs of Baikal

Winter Baikal is not only majestic ice and powerful air currents surrounded by beautiful Sayan Mountains. There is also something much more pleasant. Hot Springs. All of them are concentrated on the Buryat coast. The most ennobled and, accordingly, the most expensive hot springs to visit are located on Cape Kotelnikovsky. You can get here at any time of the year only by the lake – in summer by boat, in winter – by car, Khivus or snowmobile. nine0003

Photo: Pomorzev / Shutterstock

Hot springs are free to visit in Zmenina Bay in the Zabaikalsky National Park, there are wooden changing rooms and fonts, and there are almost no people. The easiest way to get to Dzelinda and Goudzhekit springs is, for example, by train from Severobaikalsk. And there is even a free transfer to the Khakusy thermal resort.

Siberian bath

If a trip across the ice of Lake Baikal to hot springs seems like an extreme adventure for you, but you really want to get warm and mellow, look for a good bath. They are available in many recreation centers and private guest houses. Siberians will steam you for real! And then they will be treated to cold beer with whitefish or omul, tea from Siberian herbs or a hearty dinner. nine0003

Siberian and Buryat cuisine

When you visit Baikal, be sure to try the local fish — hot smoked omul, dried whitefish and grayling. Frozen fish is used to prepare splitting – a Siberian version of stroganina. From fresh – saguday. And also very satisfying and tasty poses or buuzas, very similar to manti: with meat filling and broth. The national Buryat soup bukhler is made from lamb. On the Irkutsk coast, at the end of the meal, you will be offered tea with herbs, and on the Buryat coast – with milk. And you should definitely try it yourself and bring real pine nuts as souvenirs to your friends – you will find them so fresh and tasty only in Siberia. nine0003

Olkhon Island and the Small Sea. The strait between the mainland of the Irkutsk region and the island of Olkhon stretched along the coast is called the Small Sea. And he, in turn, is a concentration of natural monuments, places of power and amazing legends. In winter, a dense and snow-white road to the Small Sea is much more pleasant than a dusty summer dirt road. And to get to the island, you do not need to wait for the ferry: a winter road is laid across the strait. The journey from Irkutsk takes about four hours. On the way you will see the snow-covered Tazheran steppes, and on the Small Sea – the most transparent, colorful and patterned ice of Lake Baikal. The sarma wind blowing regularly here blows snow off the ice, so here it is usually crystal clear and smooth. Once on Olkhon, do not forget to visit Shamanka rock and Cape Khoboy. nine0003

Photo: Chawanat Utapan / Shutterstock

Circum-Baikal Railway. This monument of engineering is impressive at any time of the year: dozens of tunnels cut into the rocks and stone bridges over bays and rivers. Once the road was of great practical importance, but now it is a tourist attraction that everyone should ride. And be sure to take the time to Slyudyanka, a small town on the Circum-Baikal Railway, which houses a unique private museum of colored stones and minerals. nine0003

Shaman sites, rocks and caves. They are literally on any part of the coast of Baikal or its islands. Ask any local resident and he will dip you into the world of spirits, ancestors and mystical stories.

Buddhist datsans. The Buryats occupy a rather prominent role in the world life of the Buddhist community and are proud of their great lamas. There is also a real sacred stupa in the Irkutsk region – on the small and uninhabited island of Ogoy, not far from Olkhon.

Taltsy Open Air Ethnographic Museum. Here, in the suburbs of Irkutsk, there are about a hundred historical buildings typical of Western Siberia – from wooden churches and houses to defensive structures and national dwellings of northern peoples. You can trace the history and culture of the peoples living here – Russians, Buryats and Evenks, starting from the 10th century. Here, not only a Siberian settlement is recreated, and inside the buildings – the life of different classes, but also the work of potters, blacksmiths, architects and other artisans. nine0003

Photo: Ovchinnikova Irina / Shutterstock

Settlements on Lake Baikal. The easiest way to get to Listvyanka – buses and minibuses go here from Irkutsk, and there are many hotels, recreation centers and other tourist infrastructure here. There is also an interesting Baikal Museum. It is very picturesque in the area of Staraya Angasolka, to which a four-kilometer hiking trail leads from the Tyomnaya Pad station; You can also walk along the sleepers of the Circum-Baikal Railway from the village of Kultuk. In addition to being simply beautiful here, there is also the house-museum of Nicholas Roerich. And it’s worth a trip to Bolshoye Goloustnoye to get from there by winter road to Peschanaya Bay — unique in its beauty at any time of the year.

INEOS Britannia heads offshore, while Patriot has a foggy encounter

No further developments from the late entry French K-Challenge. An announcement will be made in Paris, on February 2 by the team and their challenging club Societe Nautique de Saint-Tropez.

INEOS Britannia – LEQ12 – Mallorca – January 31, 2023 – Day 18

Top sailing journalist, Justin Chisholm was on the water and made various observations:

With a complex weather scenario in play on Palma Bay today – which involved northerly gradient breezes being negated by a nascent sea breeze created by warm sunshine and clear blue skies heating up the Mallorca landmass – INEOS Britannia’s meteorological advisors called for an offshore day out side the confines of the bay.

A scheduled 1200 dockout was delayed until 1315 due to technical issues we believe to have been related to the pair of GPS aerials on the British LEQ12’s stern quarters. Once out of the harbour and mainsail hoisted the T6 test boat was towed south for 30 minutes at 20 knots out into the open waters of the Mediterranean.

Conditions outside the bay comprised 9 knots of wind from 240 to 260 with a bumpy unpleasant seastate made up of a characteristic Mallorca short steep chop overlaid with a half metre swell. Not ideal conditions for foiling perhaps but the British crew – helmsmen Ben Ainslie and Giles Scott, with flight controllers/trimmers Leigh McMillan and Luke Parkinson (who swapped out for Iain Jensen during the session) – made the best of them to rack up plenty of flying time during a 50 nautical mile day.

Take offs were mostly self-generated but there were a few tow ups during lighter patches of breeze. The crew started the day with a series of take offs, shore one minute or less flights, followed quickly by another takeoff. The team’s coach Rob Wilson said this ‘circuits and bumps’ session was a planned take-off practice session.

Later in the day there were several extended foiling runs with multiple foiling tacks and gybes – some clean and others involving touch downs.

The only issue the team encountered was a break required to fix an issue with the J1 (used all day) halliard lock which had rleased itself while the boat was in flight. With the sun only just above the horizon at 1715 the breeze finally began to fade, putting paid to chances of anymore foiling.

Sails were dropped shortly afterwards before a long (10 nm) tow back to port.

After the session team coach, Rob Wilson gave his prespective on the day.

“We’re still in this tricky weather pattern down here in Palma. So we’ve got Northeasterlies/Northwesterlies. It was actually warm today. Earlier on, we had 15-16 degrees that we were signed to get a little bit of a sea breeze up near Palma . So with the northwesterly fighting the southwesterly we thought we’d cut our losses, in the end . And so it was a half hour tow to outside the bay, and we got some really good sailing in.”

He described the sea state as “a half metre swell and then a bit of a tricky chop on top of that. So you know, it certainly made the takeoffs a lot harder. And then, the whole control side more difficult in a straight line. It was really nice, it felt like a sort of scaled down Barcelona day. So it was good to be out there.”

Justin Chisholm asked Wilson to explain one of the Brits training routines where “we saw the boat doing a few short flights and then dropping off the foils and then just 30 seconds later another flight and then down again. Was that a deliberate kind of let’s practice takeoffs at a certain angle?”

“Yes, that was part of the day,” Wilson responded. “It’s just to check in on the takeoffs so yeah, we you know, get the boat up to speed and then we’re just bringing it down again. It’s quite useful exercise.”

“What did you learn about the boat sailing in those conditions, it’s obvious to draw a parallel with what we’re hearing about Barcelona,” Chisholm asked.

“We will have to have a look at the data and sort of dig into that side of it,” Wilson replied. “There’s lots of little pieces you’re learning on all of these days, how the boat reacts in the flat water and in the sea state, and I wouldn’t say it’s one major thing, but sort of sum of lots of little things.

Rob Wilson said they were pleased with the way T6, as the British test boat is known, was taking off – both unassisted in 8-9kts of wind and under tow in lighter winds.

“Especially in that [difficult] sea state, which effectively makes it harder to take off. It’s probably equivalent of a sort of eight knot, wind speed day. We were getting between by between five knots and probably 12 knots today in total.

American Magic – AC75 Version 2 – Pensacola – January 31, 2023 – Day 41

From the AC37 Joint Recon Team:

Patriot sailed inshore today, covered approximately 11 nm, comprised of 2 W/L legs.

Three headsails were loaded into the support RIB, one was used. Sailing began at 1342hrs Patriot completed two maneuvers and ended sailing at 1417hrs. Patriot had a total flying time of 12 Minutes. Top speeds could not accurately be measured due to the short duration of the sailing.

VIP’s were observed on board the chase boats today including: Tom Whidden, Gary Jobson, and members of the DeVos family.

A brief attempt was made to get some hours in but, the breeze never filled in consistently today. The fog was intermittent as well.

Today’s sailing efforts were likely for the benefit of the spectators.

This was the second day in which Patriot had encountered fog at Pensacola and had their training session impacted by it.

Patriot is not expected to roll out tomorrow Wednesday Feb 1, 2023.

After the session Mike Petersen of the AC37 Joint Recon team asked Michael Menninger, a Flight Controller and Sail Trimmer on board Patriot for his take on the day.

“It was good. We struggled to find some breeze. But we managed to get up and get a little bit of sailing. So it was a positive day and we tried to get as much out of it as we could. But we didn’t have great breeze.

“We’re trying to squeeze, as much knowledge we can with the remaining days we have on Patriot because it’s coming to a close soon.”

The session then turned into a school on flight control and sail trimming, including whether the two roles could be combined.
“With regard to light control, how much adjustment is needed to the foil flaps once you’re in flight?” Petersen asked.

“It depends on the seastate, it depends on the variability in the breeze, it depends on a lot of things. But as a flight controller, you’re trying to be as consistent and smooth as possible, just to avoid using as much of the flaps and the elevator as possible.”

“Can you tell us the difference between low flight and high flight? And when do you use the different modes?” Petersen asked
“It’s just how high you want to fly,” Menninger responded. “And I guess that could be another sea state, different moding option – the higher the sea state and the bigger the difference between the troughs and the crests, you may want to fly a little bit lower, just so you don’t get as much tip breaching.”

American Magic – AC75 – January 31, 2023 – Pensacola – photo © Paul Todd/America’s Cup

“Is flight control a full time job, or could it be combined with sail trim and/or cycling?” Petersen asked.

“That’s a good question”, Menninger replied. “That’s something that we’re, trying to ask ourselves and know a lot of other teams are asking as well. It’s going to be a long process to learn how we can be good at kind of melding those two skills together. This is an ongoing thing that we’re working on.”

“When we’re sailing offshore, and in a rougher sea state, do you tend to try to err on the side of a low flight mode for safety? Petersen asked.
“It really depends how the boats setting up and what type of foil you may have on,” Menninger explained. “When we get to the America’s Cup, it’s going to be interesting to see how all the different teams choose to mode their boats through the sea state.”

American Magic – AC75 – January 31, 2023 – Pensacola – photo © Paul Todd/America’s Cup

“People might choose different foils. They might choose to sail different cant angles, ride heights, etc. I think the sea state brings a certain dynamic piece to the sailing, and that I think teams will be able to make different choices and have different platforms.”

“And just with a few days remaining, sailing Patriot in this session, what will the team specifically be trying to get out of the boat?” Petersen asked.

“We’re just trying to end on a high note. Just trying to wrap up this sailing, and our highest priorities put behind us and moving on to the AC 40,” was Menninger’s reply.

Festivals in Spain in February

As winter begins to recede, Spain enters holiday mode. Each new month brings more fun and February is no exception. The most interesting festivals in Spain in February:

Moors against Christians

This amazing festival is one of the oldest and most spectacular in Spain. Dancing, amazing parades are waiting for you during the six days of the holiday. In February, this holiday can be seen in the city of Bocairent, Valencia province.
Date: every year on the first Friday of February.

Carnivals in Tenerife and Cadiz

February in Spain is the beginning of the carnival season. Local carnivals easily compete with Brazilian ones. World famous carnivals take place in Tenerife and Cadiz. Colorful processions and extravagant costumes, incendiary music and enchanting atmosphere are waiting for you. Carnival begins with the election of a queen. During this competition, the spectators and the jury observe the stunning beauty of the costumes specially designed for the carnival. Charming girls sometimes wear costumes that can weigh up to a hundred kilograms. There are many dance and singing competitions. In Tenerife, the carnival ends with the burial of the sardine. Papier-mache fish is transported through the streets of Santa Cruz to the coast and burned there. All celebrations are completed by magnificent fireworks. Don’t miss the chance to take part in the most colorful and crazy outdoor party!

Tenerife 2019 dates: 24 February to 10 March.
Dates for 2019 in Cadiz: 28 February to 10 March.

Tip: If you plan to visit the carnivals in Tenerife and Cadiz, then book your hotels in advance. There may be no seats left for the start of the event.

Madrid Gastronomy Festival

The Gastronomic Festival starts approximately from the third week of January to the first week of February. During this period, Madrid is a real feast of Spanish culinary culture. Restaurants and tapas bars located throughout Madrid offer a wide range of national and international cuisine. Cocktail bars, restaurants, museums and art galleries contribute to the city’s gastronomic celebration.
Date: from January 23 to February 10, 2019.

Travel to Spain in February

If you are determined to visit Spain in February, be prepared to “cool off” in the literal sense of the word. This is one of the coldest months of the year throughout the country, when the weather is not particularly friendly.

Spain in February in the northern mountains is the height of the ski season, and along the Atlantic coast the weather is wet, cold and windy. In the inner central regions, including in Madrid, it is very dank and cold. Tourists looking for the warm rays of the sun can safely rely on the southern and eastern coasts of the Mediterranean Sea: there will be enough of them to bask in their overflowing warmth. However, it will still be cool for sunbathing.

Andalusia is probably the warmest part of Spain in February with moderate temperatures and plenty of sunshine. Here the weather is delightful for enjoying it in a summer cafe right under the open sky.

Come to Spain in February for ski resorts

Weather in Spain in February

With a wide variety of climatic regions, from mild Mediterranean to extreme continental, the weather in mainland Spain in February depends mainly on where you are going. But in general, it is frosty, and in most areas it is the driest month of the winter.

In southern Andalusia temperatures can rise to high Celsius. In February, there are 6 rainy days and a large amount of sunshine – on average, 6 clear hours of sunshine out of 10 daily hours.

Madrid freezes over in February, as it is the highest European capital, which is directly reflected in its weather conditions. Rains happen often: about one day out of three is overcast. The maximum temperature in Madrid is 12°C, often falling below freezing at night.

Barcelona is warmer, but slightly warmer, with highs and lows of 14°C and 5°C respectively. There is a chance of occasional showers, but most of the month the skies in Barcelona are blue and clear.

Spain’s wettest provinces, Galicia and Asturias, located in the northwest of the country, are characterized by only heavy rains this month.

What happens in Spain in February

Despite the fact that the weather in February in Spain is not the most pleasant, the fervor from the country’s legendary festivals remains as hot as ever. The best festival in February is the Carnival of Sitges in Catalonia – a wild but amazing gay event that draws revelers of all persuasions and morals into its celebration, from a magnificent banquet to colorful parades and entertainment events.

Carnival in Sitges is not for the faint hearted

Seville in February is simply addictive for tasting Tapas, a traditional light Spanish snack served with alcoholic drinks in local bars. And in Barcelona at this time, the music “flows like water” at the Festa de Santa Eulalia (in mid-February).

Festa de Santa Eulalia

What to bring?

For those who are looking for the warm sun on the Mediterranean coast of Spain in February, shorts and open legs can still get away with it. However, in the evening you can not do without jeans and a jacket. In other areas of the country, the coat is a priority of the first importance. And no matter where exactly you are traveling – an umbrella, water-repellent outerwear and waterproof shoes can suddenly come in handy despite the fact that it is a relatively dry month.

In Spain, the winter only in the northern and central regions resembles the Russian one. Frost and snow are possible here. In Madrid, for example, during the day the average temperature is around 12 degrees, and at night it drops to 4°C. True, snowfalls and frosts are possible here, but the total number of days on which precipitation falls does not exceed six.

And the warmest weather in Spain pleases the south-east of the country. For example, in Cartagena, the daytime temperature is kept at 17 degrees, and the nighttime temperature is around 5°C. In the same temperature limits, the temperature is kept in the south of Spain, for example, in Malaga and the Costa del Sol. During the day it is 18 ° C, and at night – 8 degrees. As in Madrid, the number of rainy days here is about six.

But the most cloudless and sunniest region in Spanish February is the Costa Blanca region and Valencia itself as such. Here, there are only four rainy days for 15 clear days. And the air temperature here is kept within the limits characteristic of the south of Spain (16/6 degrees).

If we talk about bathing, then in February it is still impossible to talk about the possibility of a full-fledged reception of water procedures. The average water temperature is only 13°C. The exception is Malaga, which is about 17 degrees. At the resorts of Costa Brava and Costa Dorada, which are favored by Russian tourists, the situation is the same. Here, not only the water is cold, but the air is relatively cool – only 14 degrees during the day and up to 15 ° C at night. But there is little precipitation in this area – 33 mm.

Nevertheless, the not too warm February weather in Spain makes it possible to get to know the country, its culture and traditions better, for example, to see flamenco. Moreover, in different cities of Spain, the manner of performance will be different. Now there are four main schools of flamenco in Spain – in Jerez, Madrid, Granada and Seville. Dancers and dancers perform in special venues called tablaos. If necessary, a ticket can be purchased in advance, although the influx of tourists in February is still small, so there will be no problems with tickets on the day of the performance.

But at the end of the month, the number of tourists increases significantly, because at this time Spain is immersed in the atmosphere of carnivals taking place in different cities. There is no specific start date for carnival processions, as it depends on when Easter was. Carnivals in Cadiz and Madrid are considered the most impressive. Cadiz is very close in spirit to the carnival in Rio de Janeiro. You can look at all the carnival processions absolutely free of charge, but if you want to watch them, sitting in chairs placed on both sides of the street along which the procession will move, you will have to pay.

In terms of weather, February in Spain contributes to visiting such a bright and unforgettable holiday that takes place as part of the Carnival week as the Carnival of the Bulls in Ciudad Rodrigo (Castile). During the action, you can see running with bulls, bullfights and masquerade processions.

With the onset of February frosts, it is very difficult to resist the temptation to leave for warm countries. There are a lot of options – the choice is limited only by the state of the wallet. But it should be borne in mind that in many places at the end of winter there is still a low season, i.e. a beach holiday is out of the question. In our case, on the island of Mallorca, February is a good month for sightseeing. The weather conditions at this time are quite comfortable, especially in comparison with our harsh winters.

Changes in the weather in February on the island of Mallorca

Analyzing the values of air and sea temperature in February on the island of Mallorca for several years, we have compiled the following summary table.

Mallorca peak and average temperatures in February

Happy At night Sea
min 3÷5 0÷4 12
max 17÷19 14÷16 14
average 14 9 13

Sky over Mallorca

February can hardly be called the most cloudless month in Mallorca. Clear days are issued from the strength of 5-10. Most of the month it is partly cloudy or cloudy (about 10 days). February is a rainy month, precipitation can fall 1-3 times. It is worth warning that in cloudy weather the colors of Mallorca fade, and the island itself ceases to seem fabulous.

What to see in Mallorca in February?

During a week stay on the island, you can get acquainted with its main attractions. Actually, February limits tourists only in beach activities:

  • this time is convenient for excursions in Mallorca, because “winter” tourists are rarely found here.

Holidays in Egypt in February: pros and cons

If it’s a joke, then all the disadvantages will remain at home: you will board the plane at -10-20°C, and leave at +20°C. But seriously, Egypt in February is not for everyone. Rest in this country will appeal to you if you do not want to fry all day on the beach and will not suffer because of the cool sea. Then you will be pleased:

    • various excursions – to Cairo, Luxor, Aswan;
    • numerous entertainments – water parks, dolphinariums, motor safari;
    • half-empty hotels and beaches;
    • reasonable prices for holidays even in expensive hotels.

There are few negative reviews about holidays in Egypt in February. Mostly dissatisfied are tourists who dream of hot sun and hot sea. If you like hot weather, it is better to go to the resorts of Thailand, Vietnam, Dominican Republic, Mexico in winter. nine0003

In addition, due to short daylight hours and cold evenings, there is not much time left for a beach holiday. Afternoon excursions and evening entertainment at the hotel save here. Are you one of those who appreciate peace and love to travel? Then it’s time to figure out where to relax in Egypt in February. And the first important characteristic is the weather.

    Weather in Egypt in February

Winter in Egypt is a period of rest from the incredible heat. The weather in February-March gradually changes from “a little cool” to “warm”, and therefore you can set aside time for beaches and excursions. The weather in early February is sunny, suitable for all kinds of holidays. There is a noticeable wind in Hurghada, but this resort is windy all year round. nine0003

The weather in Egypt at the end of February is almost the same, the temperature fluctuates slightly throughout the month. If you are going to Egypt in February with a child, take both light and warm clothes: after hot days, cold evenings come.

    Air and water temperature

No matter how hot the climate of Egypt is, there is winter here too. Compared to summer, February is even colder – daytime temperatures can drop to +16°C. But in most cases, the weather is pleasant in the capital and resorts:

    Resort Daily Night t water
    Hurghada +22. 2°C +16.9°C +22.3°C
    Makadi Bay +22.3°C +16.3°C +22.5°C
    Marsa Alam +23.3°С +17.8°C +22.7°C
    Sharm El Sheikh +22.5°C +17.6°C +22.7°C
    Cairo +21.0°C +12.9°C
    Luxor +23.2°C +11.8°C

Daytime air temperature in Egypt in February ranges from +16°С to +26°С, at night it gets colder to +11-18°С. Days in Luxor or Aswan are hotter, sometimes above + 30 ° C, nights, on the contrary, are a little colder. The water temperature in Egypt in February does not change during the month, but in one year the Red Sea can maintain a temperature of + 23 ° C, and in another it can cool down to + 21 ° C. nine0003

    Is it possible to swim

Who is ready to swim in Egypt in February? Those who do not like the sea like fresh milk. Those who cannot imagine a beach holiday without swimming. And children, as long as the water doesn’t seem dangerously cold to their parents.

The sea is probably not the most comfortable for long swims. Tourists usually dip for only a couple of minutes. After that, it is advisable to change into dry clothes, and many even take warm clothes with them – just to keep warm after swimming. nine0003

The place where careful vacationers swim in February is hotel pools. If warm water is important to you, check if the pool is heated.

    Beach holiday

Sunbathing in Egypt in winter is preferred by those tourists who do not tolerate the heat. Despite the sunny weather, it can be quite chilly in February: one day you want to wear a bathing suit, and the next – a jacket.

The strong wind typical for Hurghada and neighboring resorts, as well as the invigorating sea interfere with a good beach holiday. However, the choice of where to go in Egypt in February is influenced not only by the weather. Here are some of the benefits of staying at different resorts. nine0003

In Hurghada, February is not hot at all. Most often, thermometers show +18-24°C during the day and +14-20°C at night, although sometimes the air warms up to +28°C or cools down to +16°C. The wind is quite strong, about 5.1 m / s, the sky is most often cloudless, short rain is from the category of curiosities. The water temperature in different years is +21-23°С.

The beaches of the resort are sandy, with a gentle entry into the water, without corals near the shore. They are great for families with children, but because of the strong wind in February, it is not very comfortable to sunbathe and swim. Many hotels install windscreens and also provide the rest of the beach infrastructure. nine0003

The sea depths off the coast of Hurghada are not as picturesque as in Sharm. But still here you can learn diving and make the first dive. The resort has many diving centers, many offer the help of Russian-speaking instructors.

Hotels in Hurghada are often described as outdated. Indeed, they are not as good as the modern complexes of Makadi or El Gouna, many require major repairs. But at this resort there are quite decent “fours” and “fives”, focused on families with children. nine0003

The two main reasons to choose Hurghada are the proximity of the airport and the variety of entertainment.

Transfer from the airport takes no more than 30 minutes. As for entertainment, the list is quite impressive: 4 large water parks, 2 aquariums, a dolphinarium, Mini Egypt Park miniature exhibition, Sand City sand sculpture complex.

    Makadi Bay

40 km south of Hurghada is a respectable resort Makadi Bay. It is loved for comfortable family hotels, well-groomed beaches and excellent opportunities for outdoor activities. In early February, the air temperature in the resort is +18-24°C during the day and +12-18°C at night. The wind is slightly weaker than in Hurghada, about 4.6 m/s. There are very few cloudy days, mostly the sun shines in the sky. Water off the coast of Makadi maintains a temperature of about + 22-23 ° С. nine0003

Sandy beaches are mostly divided between hotels. On the shore there are umbrellas, sun loungers and, as a rule, wind screens. If not for the wind, Makadi beaches with a gentle entrance to the water would be a wonderful place to relax with children.

There are no corals near the shore in the resort, but the coral reef can be reached on foot along the sandy spit. Diving near reefs gives you much more impressions: if you have not yet mastered diving, then you can contact one of the training centers in Makadi Bay. Also, this village is known as a good place for windsurfing. In the surf center you can take a few lessons and rent equipment. nine0003

Near Makadi there are some of the main attractions of Hurghada – the best water park in Egypt Makadi Water World, Mini Egypt miniature park and a dolphinarium. It also organizes glass-bottom boat trips. The hotels of the resort have a lot of entertainment for children: mini-aqua parks, children’s clubs, playrooms and playgrounds. There are hotels that offer other necessary services for families with kids, including a children’s menu.

    Marsa Alam

The town of Marsa Alam is becoming increasingly popular with tourists, despite the fact that it is located 280 km from Hurghada airport. Marsa Alam has its own airport, but it only accepts charters during the high season.

Marsa Alam is much to the south of other resorts, in early and mid-February it is a little warmer there: the average temperature is one degree higher than in Hurghada or Makadi Bay. Thermometers show +19-24°С during the day and +14-20°С at night. The wind is very noticeable, 4.6 m/s, the weather is mostly clear. The water temperature is kept at + 22-23 ° С.

The beaches of the resort stretch for 50 km, but not all of them have been put in order yet. As a rule, hotels equip the nearest part of the coast, and a completely empty wild beach can be located nearby. Be sure to check which beach belongs to the selected hotel.

Corals grow in some places near the shore, you can go down into the water only from a pontoon, you should take a mask and a snorkel with you. In other places, the beaches are located in bays with a clean sloping bottom, the sea there is very calm, suitable even for kids. nine0003

Marsa Alam is very popular with divers who have already gained some impressions and are eager for something new. According to reviews, the underwater fauna near the resort is as rich as in Sharm and other spots around the Sinai Peninsula. Beginners can take an initial course at diving centers. Also, the windy weather in the resort favors wind and kite surfing.

Marsa Alam is inferior to other Egyptian resorts in terms of entertainment. So far, only excursions to the desert and boat trips on boats with a transparent bottom are available here. Hotels provide the main entertainment program. The town is being actively built up, solid hotels with a large territory and a range of services for families with children appear here. nine0003

    Sharm El Sheikh

Charm in the low season is no more boring than in the high season. All hotels are open, all entertainment is available – but there are fewer tourists than in the warmer months. The air temperature, both at the beginning and at the end of February, is within + 16-24 ° C during the day and + 12-18 ° C at night. The wind here is much weaker than in Hurghada, 3.1 m/s. There are slightly more cloudy days than on the left bank of the Red Sea, but still sunny weather prevails. The sea temperature does not exceed +22-23°C. nine0003

In Sharm, as nowhere else, you need to carefully choose the beach. On many beaches, because of the corals, you have to go down from the pontoon into the water; in some places, as in the bay of Nabq, the tides are strongly pronounced. There are convenient places for families with children in the Sharm El Maya area.

Sharm el-Sheikh is famous for its magnificent coral reefs, which attract experienced divers. It is worth choosing this resort if you want to master diving at a decent level and see the mysterious worlds of the Red Sea with your own eyes.

Holidays in Sharm with children are diversified by three large water parks and a dolphinarium. Evenings can be spent at the SOHO Square shopping and entertainment center. Please note that many family hotels are located quite far from the center of the resort. However, the hotels themselves usually also have entertainment for children, including pools with slides and mini clubs.

    Excursion rest

An interesting fact: many sights of Egypt are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. These are the pyramids of Giza, and the tombs of Thebes, and the temples of Abu Simbel, and the monastery of St. Catherine, and the old city of Cairo. In February, when the sun is merciful to tourists, you can see the main antiquities.

From Hurghada, Marsa Alam and neighboring resorts it is easy to get to Luxor. It was there that the city of Thebes once existed, and since then the Karnak and Luxor temples, a vast necropolis known as the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens, have been preserved. nine0003

Cairo is located relatively far from all resorts, but a comfortable air-conditioned bus brightens up the road. The most famous monuments near the capital are the Pyramid of Cheops and the Sphinx, there are other pyramids there. Mummies, sarcophagi, valuables from the tombs are exhibited in Cairo and the Great Egyptian Museums. It is easier for little tourists to get acquainted with the history of Ancient Egypt in the Children’s Museum.

The historical part of Cairo has not been preserved as well as the medieval mosques, the oldest university in the world and other buildings would deserve. In the capital of Egypt, they usually visit not these areas, but the museums in the Abdin Palace, the Museum of Islamic Art, the Guyer-Anderson Museum. nine0003

St. Catherine’s Monastery and Mount Sinai, at the foot of which it was built, are closest to Sharm el-Sheikh. Other attractions located on the Sinai Peninsula and worth visiting are the Ras Mohammed National Park and the Colored Canyon.

The temples of Abu Simbel are the furthest away from the resorts. The distance from Hurghada to Abu Simbel is about 800 km, and the most convenient way to get to the temple complex is by cruise on the Nile. A lesser known but definitely amazing place is the Wadi al-Khitan paleontological park, 150 km from Cairo. Well-preserved skeletons of ancient whales, sharks, turtles and other representatives of the fauna that inhabited the Earth 35-50 million years ago were found here. The length of the largest skeleton is 21 meters. nine0003

    Entertainment for children

The beach is cool, but it gets dark early in the evening. So, you need to think about the entertainment program. In part, this issue is solved by hotels, there are many interesting things outside of them. From the point of view of children, the best entertainment is water parks.

Makadi Water World is located in Makadi Bay. Three large water parks each in Hurghada (Jungle Aqua Park, Titanic, Sindbad) and Sharm el-Sheikh (Aqua Park City, Cleo Park). Mini water parks are available in many family hotels. In children’s pools, as a rule, water heating is provided. nine0003

Combine fun and learning at Mini Egypt Miniature Park near Hurghada. On its territory you will see copies of the pyramids of Giza, the Temple of Karnak, the Aswan Dam and other famous structures.

Sand City Sand Sculpture Park is located between Hurghada and Makadi. There are two thematic zones in the park: the compositions of one are dedicated to historical characters, the other – to the heroes of films and books. Sculptors are able to sculpt anything from sand, from King Kong to Smeshariki. nine0003

A popular attraction in Hurghada and Sharm is glass bottom boat trips. Boats sail over the coral reefs, and you can see brightly colored fish and other inhabitants of the Red Sea from a close distance. In addition, the secrets of the underwater world open an accident in Hurghada. With teenagers in winter, you can go on a moto safari in the desert. Many holidays in Egypt are tied to the Muslim calendar and change from year to year. Religious holidays practically do not affect resort life, unless February falls on Eid al-Fitr : on the occasion of the end of the month of fasting, the Egyptians go to resorts and relax to the fullest. The next year when Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated at the end of winter is 2028.

If there are no outstanding holidays in Egypt in February, then there is one famous festival. Every year on February 22, tourists from all over the world go to the Abu Simbel temple to see how the rays of the rising sun illuminate the 65-meter corridor of the temple, then linger on the face of the statue of Pharaoh Ramses II for 12 minutes and illuminate the statues of the gods Amun and Ra for 6 minutes. nine0005 Abu Simbel Sun Festival takes place twice a year, in October and February. The action in the temple is complemented by songs, dances, laser shows and other entertainment.

    Vacation prices

Low prices in Egypt in February attract tourists as well as the opportunity to forget about the cold for a while and bask on the seashore. At the end of winter, you can relax in a good hotel at a very nice price.

    Flight tickets

In the second half of winter, a flight to Hurghada or Sharm is cheaper than at other times of the year. In March, the price rises by about 5%. nine0003

During the low season, hotels significantly lower prices. Thus, the difference between the cost of rooms during the New Year holidays and February is 20-25%. With the advent of spring, rooms become more expensive by 15-17%.

    • The best hotels in Egypt for families with children

In January, February and March, there are plenty of opportunities for budget package holidays. The cost of tours, if fluctuating, is no more than 1-2%. The price hike starts in mid-April. nine0003

Most tourists who come to Egypt for a beach holiday prefer to choose an all-inclusive hotel. This is a good way to relieve yourself of worries about food, but it is always worth checking how high-quality and varied food the selected hotel offers.

Those who spend the whole winter in Egypt usually do their own cooking. There are no problems with the assortment, prices and quality of goods in supermarkets. Large resorts have European chain stores where you can buy familiar baby food. nine0003

In February, a huge selection of local fruits – from oranges, grapefruits and bananas to strawberries, physalis and guava. It is in winter that they recommend buying the most delicious Egyptian mango: in the warm season, imported fruits are sold here, not so sweet. Approximate price for 1 kg of fruit: bananas – from 5 pounds, oranges, strawberries – 10-15 pounds, pomegranates, kumquats – 15-20 pounds, mango, guava – from 20 pounds.

Going to the market and souvenir shops in Egypt can be equated to excursions. If you don’t want to bring miniature pyramids or other souvenir rubbish from your trip, we recommend buying something really useful, for example, things made from Egyptian cotton or camel hair. The most popular are cotton home textiles and camel blankets.

Small but pleasant purchases – oriental spices, hibiscus tea, essential oils. In reviews of holidays in Egypt in February, they mention that, despite the absence of winter sales, sellers make a good discount if you bargain. nine0003

Air traffic controllers announce strikes at four airports in the Canary Islands –

    1/18/23, 2:46 PM

    By Canarian Weekly

The USCA and CCOO unions have called a strike for air traffic controllers in the privatized control towers of Spanish airports at the end of January and in February, after negotiations collapsed with employees over working conditions.

The strike will affect 16 airports in Spain, four of which are here in the Canary Islands, causing disruptions not only directly at those airports, but indirectly over Spanish air space.

The strikes have been announced for the following dates:

    January 30th

    February 6th

    February 13th

    February 20th

    February 27th.

The airports that will be most affected by striking staff in the Canary Islands are: Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, La Palma, and El Hierro, but others include Valencia, Murcia, Seville, and Ibiza.

The CCOO and USCA unions were negotiating the collective agreement with the APCTA business association, which includes the private providers of the liberalized market SAERCO and FerroNATS, but they have finally considered the negotiations broken, hence the reason for the strikes.

As the weather took a turn for the worst, I found myself dreaming of a holiday in the sun. Where better than Tenerife for a winter beach break?

Incognito browsers can be used in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari and allow users to surf the web without the browser remembering their activity.

If you’re looking at booking a holiday and keep checking the flight prices over the week, experts say the price could start rising as the company can see there is high demand.

According to some travel experts, using an incognito browser could help Britons get a cheaper flight.

I wanted to see whether I could get a cheaper price for my flight to Tenerife if I searched using incognito mode on my Google Chrome browser.

I was looking to book a week’s holiday in Tenerife, leaving London on February 4 and returning on February 11.

I first looked at the flights on January 16 and found a return flight with Ryanair for just £69 on Skyscanner and £74 on Google Flights.

After checking the same flights on an incognito browser, I got exactly the same results. Most Britons tend to think about a holiday for a few days before booking and I was no exception.

I looked at the flights again on January 17 and found it for £74 on Skyscanner and £76 on Google Flights, with exactly the same results on incognito.

On the last day I checked, January 19, the Skyscanner flights had risen to £81 while the Google Flights option was £84.

By this point, I was getting a few adverts for Tenerife hotels through my browser so I knew it had tracked my interest.

However, when I checked the flights using incognito mode, I was disappointed to find the prices were exactly the same as on my regular browser.

So why hadn’t I managed to save any money on my Tenerife break by going incognito?

      • The staycation that’s just like Portugal’s Algarve

Matthew Gribben, a cyber security expert, told me: “Using an incognito browser may not be as private as people would like to think.

“Incognito mode is ultimately designed to prevent the browser from saving browsing history, cookies, and search information, but it doesn’t actually provide true anonymity. Websites have a lot of technology at their disposal to track user behaviour and ‘conversion tracking’ i.e. tracking when you do and don’t make a purchase.

“Your browser, even whilst in incognito mode leaks vast amounts of data, sometimes called signals, that when combined form a fingerprint that is almost as unique as your actual fingerprint. This is data like your screen size/resolution, installed fonts, browser version number and more.

“This, when combined with data science techniques and machine learning, is ultimately more than enough to continue tracking your average user whilst they are using their browser’s privacy mode.

“Additionally if you’re searching for flights, for example, your search parameters are often quite specific, i.e. you’re starting at a particular airport, looking for a particular date range and going to a specific destination.”

How hot are the Canary Islands? (Image: Express)

Nick Boyle, SEO director at digital marketing lab, The Audit Lab, added: “What could have an impact on your rates is what some people may refer to as ‘fluid pricing’.

“If the site you’re browsing on uses this, then the price will fluctuate based on interest levels, how soon you wish to travel, and other factors. This still occurs when browsing in incognito mode.”

So it looks like I won’t be saving any money on my Tenerife flights by using incognito mode on my browser.

However, it could definitely pay to book your flights as soon as possible, as each flight option rose by at least £10 over the three days I was searching.

We base the humidity comfort level on the dew point, as it determines whether perspiration will evaporate from the skin, thereby cooling the body. Lower dew points feel drier and higher dew points feel more humid. Unlike temperature, which typically varies significantly between night and day, dew point tends to change more slowly, so while the temperature may drop at night, a muggy day is typically followed by a muggy night.

The chance that a given day will be muggy in Puerto Rico is essentially constant during February, remaining around 1% throughout.

For reference, on September 20, the muggiest day of the year, there are muggy conditions 45% of the time, while on January 13, the least muggy day of the year, there are muggy conditions 0% of the time.

    Temperature and Dew Point

There are 2 weather stations near enough to contribute to our estimation of the temperature and dew point in Puerto Rico.

For each station, the records are corrected for the elevation difference between that station and Puerto Rico according to the International Standard Atmosphere , and by the relative change present in the MERRA-2 satellite-era reanalysis between the two locations.

The estimated value at Puerto Rico is computed as the weighted average of the individual contributions from each station, with weights proportional to the inverse of the distance between Puerto Rico and a given station.

The stations contributing to this reconstruction are:

    • Gran Canaria Airport (GCLP, 80%, 22 mi, northeast, -7 ft elevation change)
    • Tenerife South Airport (GCTS, 20%, 56 mi, west, 125 ft elevation change)

We draw particular cautious attention to our reliance on the MERRA-2 model-based reconstructions for a number of important data series. While having the tremendous advantages of temporal and spatial completeness, these reconstructions: (1) are based on computer models that may have model-based errors, (2) are coarsely sampled on a 50 km grid and are therefore unable to reconstruct the local variations of many microclimates, and (3) have particular difficulty with the weather in some coastal areas, especially small islands.

We further caution that our travel scores are only as good as the data that underpin them, that weather conditions at any given location and time are unpredictable and variable, and that the definition of the scores reflects a particular set of preferences that may not agree with those of any particular reader.
