Myths and passion at Cyprus holiday lettings

Cyprus is the Island of Love, the mythical birthplace of one Aphrodite – heard of her before? It’s home to a people so passionate you can taste it in every bite of sizzling haloumi or spicy selection of mezze, so you’re bound to be seduced. It’s ringed by glowing beaches and see-through seas, home to tanning bodies and scuba divers seeking turtles. Inland, the rugged Troodos take over, cradling Cyprus holiday rentals with pools and sweeping views, alongside mysterious Byzantine monasteries. The towns are another story – hedonistic partying at Ayia Napa; Paphos, steeped in mosaics; Nicosia, divided in two.

History

Couple’s retreat near Cyprus holiday homes

Whether you’re planning a honeymoon or a couple’s retreat, Cyprus boasts an array of romantic spaces for relaxing and rejuvenating. Holiday homes are available near places like Petra tou Romiou, a legendary rock formation near a pebbly beach that’s the rumoured birthplace of Aphrodite, and Hala Sultan Tekke, a prominent mosque with a lush formal garden. You could also explore Larnaca Salt Lake, a series of salt lakes with flamingos and other water birds, as well as the shrine to Hala Sultan Tekke.

Things to do

Sightseeing near your Cyprus holiday rental

You might not think it from the chilled Cypriot ways, but this gem-shaped isle is home to some of Europe’s most awesome historical sites. Start in Paphos, where the cave-like Tombs of the Kings have garnered a UNESCO World Heritage tag. They are a haunting glimpse of a religious necropolis from the 4th century BC. Nearby, the silhouette of colonnades and temples heralds the Kato Paphos Archaeological Park, a mix of Roman and Greek remains with resplendent mosaics aplenty. Bagging Cyprus holiday rentals in Nicosia means being close to the Cyprus Museum – a place to make sense of it all.

Activities

Fun things to do near Cyprus holiday homes

Cyprus artfully fuses exciting adventure with hard-earned R&R in a way that many islands simply can’t. You can turn one corner and be faced with blinding-white beaches and prime tanning spots, only to swivel around and discover inviting trailheads and mountain biking routes that weave up to Mount Olympos, and the incense-scented monasteries it hides. In other places, relaxing strolls through fig orchards are balanced out by fiery cooking classes in a Cypriot home. In yet others, you can swim in pristine lagoons before adventuring to mythical waterfalls for wild splashes surrounded by forestry.

Weather

Local weather near Cyprus holiday homes

From the clubs of Ayia Napa to the beaches of Polis and Paphos, Cyprus bursts into life when the summer months swing around. This far south, that tends to start with May and June, lasting right up until the last days of August. Scorching temperatures and slight rainfall combine then to make it a perfect time to seek out Cyprus holiday rentals with a pool or proximity to the sea. Other times of year can be good for hitting museums and hiking the peaks – think autumn months like September, or early spring, in April.

Natural features

Cyprus – carved and washed by mountains and sea

There are plenty of reasons why veteran travellers to Cyprus wax so lyrical about the island’s gorgeous countryside. The beaches range from rocky lagoons and turtle-trodden bays along the Akamas Peninsula, to the gorgeous sandy stretches of Aiya Napa. Pull on the walking boots and go inland for other treasures. The star is the Paphos Forest of the Troodos Mountains. Valleys rise and fall there, with pockets of fig, olive and cedar trees, hiding raptors and rustic villages.

Beaches

Best beach locales near Cyprus holiday homes

The beaches of Cyprus are one of its biggest draws. Holiday homes can be found near stunning beach locales like Nissi Beach, an idyllic beach with sparkling turquoise waters, and Coral Bay, a bustling beach with clear swimming waters, boat rentals and tourist amenities. You could also visit Fig Tree Bay, a sandy beach with clear, calm waters for swimming and watersports.

‘No mental scars’ for new look Aberdeen says boss Jim Goodwin

By
Sean Wallace

September 10, 2022, 6:00 am
Updated: September 10, 2022, 8:48 am

Aberdeen manager Jim Goodwin is already looking towards the January transfer window.

Boss Jim Goodwin believes his new-look Aberdeen side are free of ‘mental scars’ from the failure of last season.

He reckons that makes his reconstructed side fearless in the bid to secure European qualification.

Goodwin says there is no hangover from the dismal 2021-22 campaign as the vast majority of his squad were not at the club then.

Last season the Reds slumped to a 10th placed finish, the worst position since 2004, and missed out on European qualification.

In reaction Goodwin ripped apart the misfiring squad he inherited.

He wielded the axe with 15 players having exited Pittodrie since his appointment as manager in mid February.

Aberdeen spent in excess of £1.5 million in transfer fees in a summer window where 11 new signings were secured.

The Reds team is virtually unrecognisable from last term and Goodwin reckons that is a powerful position as he bids to deliver Euro qualification.

There will be no hang-ups about last season, no scars – and no fear.

Aberdeen manager Jim Goodwin rebuilt the team in the summer window.

Goodwin said: “There are only three or four left over from that particular period last season.

“So our guys have got no mental scars, they don’t fear playing anybody.

“It was an extremely frustrating time for everybody connected to the club.

“But last season doesn’t bother this group of players because they weren’t here.

“They don’t worry about what happened last season.

“When I took the job I spoke about the short-term objectives and the long-term objectives.

‘Our main objective this year is to get the club into European football next season.

‘To do that we need to be at the top end of the table.”

Manager Jim Goodwin congratulates striker Bojan Miovski.

Dons supporters starting to believe

Following a summer of upheaval and transition at Pittodrie, Goodwin hopes the club’s fans are also starting to get over the stress of last season.

The growing belief in the team is beginning to be shown in fan numbers.

A travelling Aberdeen support of 2,174 cheered on the Dons in the 1-1 draw at Ross County last weekend.

Aberdeen fans during the 1-1 draw at Ross County.

Goodwin said: “There was still a bit of a hangover early on from what happened last season.

“However there’s been a real air of excitement from probably after the second League Cup game.

“I think that happened when the supporters saw the level of player we brought to the group.

“And then the way that we wanted to play.

“We have tried to be an entertaining team.

“That has been the case for the majority of the games we’ve played apart from maybe the Motherwell one (3-2 loss).

“We just had a bad day at the office there.

“In every other game we have tried to get after teams and impose our game on them.”

Aberdeen’s Luis Lopes scores to make it 1-0 with a sublime scissors kick.

Clarkson now banned until October

Aberdeen were scheduled to face second placed Rangers at Pittodrie on Saturday.

Victory would have leapfrogged the rebuilt Dons ahead of the Ibrox club into second spot in the Premiership.

However the match was postponed, along with all others in Scotland, as a mark of respect following Queen Elizabeth II’s passing.

The @SPFL & @ScottishFA have confirmed that Saturday’s first team match against Rangers and Sunday’s AFC Women’s match against Hibernian have been postponed as a mark of respect following the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

— Aberdeen FC (@AberdeenFC) September 9, 2022

The SFA and SPFL confirmed the suspension of this weekend’s Scottish professional football fixture schedule.

All four divisions in the SPFL are postponed including the Scottish women’s game,  the Highland League and junior football.

On loan Liverpool midfielder Leighton Clarkson was set to serve the first of a two game retrospective ban against Rangers.

The 20-year-old was cited with a notice of complaint by the SFA earlier this week for a challenge on Ross County’s Callum Johnson.

Clarkson was yellow carded for the challenge by referee Kevin Clancy in the 1-1 draw.

Loan star Clarkson had been due to have a fast-track tribunal on Thursday for “serious foul play” in breach of disciplinary rule 200.

However, the midfielder subsequently admitted the charge and will serve an immediate two-game suspension.

Due to the postponement of the Rangers game Clarkson will now not be available until after the international break.

If the trip to Hibs next Saturday goes ahead Clarkson will return to action in the away match at Dundee United on Saturday, October 8.

However if the Hibs game is also postponed due to Queen Elizabeth II’s death Clarkson will not return until the trip to Hearts on Sunday, October 16.

Aberdeen’s Leighton Clarkson is booked for a challenge on Ross County’s Callum Johnson.

Players who can step in for Clarkson

Goodwin is confident he has the backup within his squad to fill the void left by the absence of Clarkson.

🤯 👏🏽

🔥 Leighton Clarkson. 🔥#StandFree | #cinchPrem pic.twitter.com/QaLcIoQpR9

— Aberdeen FC (@AberdeenFC) August 21, 2022

He said: “When we get a suspension or an injury we have to be in a position where we can counter that.

“Albeit losing a player of Leighton’s quality is a big disappointment.

“However I believe in the squad and believe there are guys there in the wings who are capable of stepping in.”

Tenerife – weather, climate and annual temperatures

Tenerife is an island of eternal spring. You will often come across this wording. From our subjective point of view (inhabitants of a temperate climate), this can be misleading. I will say more, definitely misleading.
Imagine an island where the average daily air temperature throughout the year does not fall below 20 degrees Celsius and the temperature of the water in the sea in the coldest month does not fall below 18 degrees. Translate it into our terms and what season do you associate it with? Of course it’s summer!!!
Perhaps for the inhabitants of Spain, Portugal or Italy (where the climate is much warmer than ours), Tenerife is the island of eternal spring. For us – you can safely say – Tenerife is more like an island of eternal summer .

Tenerife in February is 20 degrees Celsius and the sun!

Tenerife, however, is not the same in terms of climate. Volcano 9 is a key element influencing the climate diversity in Tenerife0009 Teide , located almost in the middle of the island. 3718 high above sea level is an effective barrier to the cooler air that flows over the island from the north. Teide acts like a curtain and does not allow cool air to pass to the south. The effect is that in the north of the island the temperature is several degrees lower than the average temperature I gave. But in the south, everything is exactly the opposite. Usually a few degrees warmer.
North and south are therefore significantly different in appearance. The north is lush and green, the south is dry and tan.
Below is a table with average temperatures for all months of the year. If you are going to holiday in the south of the island, expect 5-7 degrees above average, but if you choose the north of the island, subtract 3-5 degrees from the set average temperature each month.
In practice, it looks like this, if you like the heat, choose spring or summer and the south of the island. A temperature of around 30 degrees is guaranteed. If you like warmth, but not necessarily hot, choose spring or summer and the north of the island, or other seasons and the south of the island. If you want to get away from the Polish winter and cold weather and relax in pleasant warmth in winter, choose the south of the island.

Summer in Tenerife is a guarantee of weather. There is an average of 1 rainy day per month, but a rainy day does not mean that it rains all day. If you are truly unlucky and encounter this rainy day, chances are it will be a light and fleeting rain that you will enjoy with pleasure.
It’s hot in the south. 30 degrees and full sun is the norm. Expect temperatures around 25 degrees in the north.

Tenerife – weather: autumn (October, November)

In autumn, the number of rainy days in Tenerife gradually increases (from 4 to 5 days per month), but the rainfall intensity is not like what we know from our climate. They are not troublesome and not durable. In principle, they do not interfere with relaxation.
It is still very warm in the south of the island (about 25 degrees), in the north temperatures around 20 degrees are expected.
The water in the sea is still warm, like in summer.

Tenerife – weather: winter (December, January, February)

Winter in Tenerife in terms of temperature resembles a series of spring and summer in Poland. There are more or less 6 rainy days a month (in Poland there are definitely more) and the temperature is perfect for actively exploring the island. The rains are not prolonged or unpleasant (especially when it rains at night). If you want to escape somewhere in the winter to recharge your internal batteries, this is a great place. Almost every day you are guaranteed a large amount of sunlight.
The temperature of the day in the south of the island is pleasant 20-22 degrees. In the north it gets a little windy and the temperature drops to about 15 degrees.
Winter is the perfect time of year to watch the giant waves that crash into the north coast of Tenerife. The impression is amazing. Watching a wave build up that reaches several or several meters in height and then crashes into the rocks with a giant impact is hard to describe.
I was mesmerized by this phenomenon. You won’t see this in the summer.

The weather in Tenerife in February… short sleeves can be waved, nice!

Tenerife – weather: spring (March, April, May)

In Tenerife you want to live in spring. The number of rainy days (although I remind you that the term “rainy” is somewhat exaggerated) drops to 3 per month. The temperature in the south usually exceeds 25 degrees Celsius, while in the north it is usually around 20 degrees. It’s like our summer.
If after dark in winter you need an intervention to free yourself from your winter numbness, Tenerife will put you on your feet. That’s for sure!

Teide Volcano

Teide requires separate treatment. The volcano is 3,718 meters high. The bottom station of the cable car is 2356 m above sea level. The upper station is already at 3,555 m above sea level.
As altitude increases, air temperature decreases. The temperature drop is approximately 0.6 degrees Celsius for every 100m elevation difference. When arriving at Teide from a hotel located by the sea, that is, from sea level, a significant drop in temperature should be expected.
At the lower station of the queue, the temperature should be lower by: 23.5 * 0. 6 = 14.1 degrees Celsius than at sea.
At the top station of the cable car, expect a temperature drop of: 35.5 * 0.6 = 21.3 degrees Celsius than at sea.
These simple calculations show that in the summer when you go to Teide you will need light extra clothing (padded jacket, fleece) and winter clothing in winter. If you are traveling to Tenerife in winter from Poland, you will still have a set of winter clothes to dry yourself in from home. Don’t forget to take it with you to Teide.

Spain in June: holidays and weather

The beginning of summer also marks the beginning of periods of mass vacations. But first you need to decide where to go to rest during this period. Warm sea, clean beaches, interesting excursions – these and other desires can be satisfied by Spain located on the Mediterranean coast. Which area should you go to? And what events to visit? It depends on the preferred weather conditions.

SPAIN IN JUNE: REST AND WEATHER

The first summer month will delight tourists in almost all corners. Clear cloudless skies and minimal rainfall (even in the rainiest areas) will create a pleasant mood for your holiday.

Naturally, different regions have their own atmosphere, because the country is very diverse.

If you are going to visit the capital, June is a great choice. Madrid, as well as its surroundings, will meet tourists during the daytime 26-28C, so T-shirts and shorts are required, but bring warm clothes with you, because evening walks will remind you more of our early spring (13-15C). There is also a high chance of rain. Take care of the items of protection.

The northern regions (Galicia, Aragon, others) also warm up during the day (up to twenty degrees), but at night the temperature can drop to eleven. The weather in the whole north is approximately the same (+/- a couple of degrees Celsius): in Catalonia, Asturias, and other areas.

Southern corners for those who strive to enjoy not only walks, excursions, but also a long-awaited beach holiday. The weather here cannot be called warm, the definition is more suitable – hot, and in some places – sultry. What you should not be here without is without sunscreen assistants: cream and glasses.

The record holder for high daily rates is Seville, which boasts lunchtime temperatures of 31-33C. After sunset, gentle 18-20C contribute to a pleasant walk to the sound of the surf, a glass of Italian wine on the shore and similar pastime.

Similar to it in terms of parameters (the difference is literally a couple of degrees) are the Costa del Sol and the Costa Blanca. The length of the day is the longest near the southernmost region of the entire Mediterranean coast – Costa del Almeria. Despite the location, there is no sweltering heat here.

For those who also dream of returning home with a chocolate tan, but do not tolerate the scorching sun very well, it is better to choose the islands, because the sea breeze freshens the air in the best possible way. Tenerife, Gran Canaria rarely cross the border at 27C. In the evening it will be comfortable to wrap yourself in a blanket, or put on a light jacket (18-19C). You won’t see rain in June. On the island of youth – Ibiza – the weather conditions are the same, but on Menorca, as in other times of the year, it is a little cooler.

Spanish summer “blooming” and “smelling”. There is no better time to visit the Kingdom. Surprise and delight vineyards that stretch for many kilometers. They fascinate with their flowering and aroma.

WHICH HOLIDAY TO CHOOSE?

June in Spain is a special time. On the streets there are travelers from all over the world. Each of them strive to plunge into the history of the country, to feel its passionate atmosphere, to enjoy the beauties. Whichever city you choose, you will be able to hear multilingual speech merge into a muffled hum. But there is no fuss here, because everyone walks carefree, moving towards adventure.

Due to the considerable excitement, it is worth noting that it is advisable to select housing in advance so as not to waste precious vacation time on his frantic search. You can do it at home by viewing the offers on our website.

When choosing a venue for a weekend or a good rest, you must proceed from the desired entertainment. Someone wants to enjoy the luxury of white sand beaches, others are fond of relics and sights, some aim to run through the most fashionable boutiques, and there are those who are not limited to just one activity and want to do absolutely everything.

In any case, everyone will find an experience to their liking. All you have to do is check out the current offers.

  1. Spanish beaches.

In summer it is the most popular pastime. The beach season is open, which means that almost all coastal cities are waiting for tourists in their open spaces. The southern hot places, where they have been sunbathing and swimming for a month, are joined by Barcelona, Costa Brava, which have been in a calm mode until this moment. But note that in the last of them the water is quite fresh in the first half of the month (18C). Barcelona shores will delight you with more comfortable 20-21C.

With an increase in the number of visitors, the number of such establishments necessary for resort places (cafes, snack bars, bars, restaurants, etc.) also grows, major maintenance of hotels is carried out, the territory is filled with private merchants. In other words, everything around is animated.

As mentioned above, people with intolerance to stagnant heat are better off staying in Tenerife. Stable winds here will not let you feel the burning rays. But note that in the northern part of the island it is noticeably humid and occasionally overcast.

  1. Excursion program.

Tired of the monotonous stay on the sunny beaches? Organize a trip to interesting places. Madrid, Sitges and a large number of other settlements have entertaining entertainment in their arsenal. You will be able to see an incredible combination of modern restaurants, brand shops with ancient fortresses, ancient palaces, mysterious cobbled squares.

Ecotourism is now widespread all over the world, Spain is no exception. You will definitely be offered paragliding, horseback riding, overcoming the distance on bicycles, walks in the mountains, on the tops of which you can observe picturesque views, or, on the contrary, walks underground.

It is recommended to visit the Sierra Nevada Reserve with children. The climate in it is very mild, so there is no chance of getting a heat stroke. In addition, a huge number of water parks and various entertainment centers will captivate kids of any age for the whole day. Examples include Port Aventura, which is located in the Costa Dorada, the upside-down house Kathmandu, which welcomes guests in Mallorca, as well as a large zoo located in Barcelona.

Be sure to sample the local cuisine. Moreover, each region has its own main dish.

  1. Festive mood.

Traditional June holidays are International Music Day, which falls on June 21, as well as a non-universal event – St. John’s Day, which is celebrated in some localities on June 23. During the latter, the expanses of the streets are decorated with huge papier-mâché dolls, next to which tents and tables with wine, various sweets, and snacks are placed. People dance and laugh to the music. After midnight, all figures are to be burned at the stake.

An enchanting Music Festival will be held in Granada, and the Catholics of La Orotava honor the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ, during which rugs made of natural colors are placed on the streets. You can get an unforgettable experience at the wine battle taking place in the town of Haro.

These are not all the events that you can visit. Familiarize yourself with the program specifically in the region where you are going.

June is a favorable month for holidays in Spain. Prices are much lower than in the hotter season (July, August), and you will get no less emotions.
