Siam Park Entrance + Hotel Offer | from € 85 per person

Take the throne of the new kingdom of Siam at Teneride, one of the best water parks in the world! A dream come true…

Main points
– Adrenaline rush
– Surf the world’s biggest artificial waves
– Fun for the little ones thanks to the new children’s area
– Open 7 days a week, 365 days a year

Experience an adrenaline rush with a visit to Siam Park, a park designed for an unforgettable day out with family and friends. Inaugurated in 2008, it is the largest water park in Europe. Located in the municipality of Adeje, in the south of Tenerife, it covers 185,000 square metres of lush natural gardens, incredible scenery and exquisite Thai architecture, a combination that makes this tourist attraction a unique place where the whole family has its own space for adventure, fun and excitement.

Each attraction is a unique experience in a magical setting, combining the exotic mystery of the ancient kingdom of Siam with the thrilling adventure of exciting slides. In addition, Siam Park offers musical performances and a surf school, where adults and children can learn to ride a board. Surf the world’s biggest man-made waves; climb to the top of the Tower of Power, breathe and hold on during a 28-metre vertical drop; relax as you slide down a meandering river or simply lie in the sun and enjoy the beautiful view of the white sandy beach.

Test your courage on the new Kinnaree attraction, more than 25 metres high. Enter a 45-degree inclined umbrella, continue the ride for a vertiginous glide and become a real wave jockey on your way to an unparalleled thrill ride!

Sawasdee (‘welcome’ in Thai) is the new children’s area which boasts plenty of fun possibilities, with 4 different slides, 2 of which are designed for racing.

The restaurants and bars in the complex offer a combination of oriental and traditional food in a unique Thai atmosphere, where you can also enjoy a cocktail in an exotic setting. You can’t leave without a souvenir: the Floating Market will transport you to a typical Thai village where you will find aperitifs, sunscreen, souvenirs and even a massage. A perfect day in a unique setting.

Locker and towel hire is available. Hammocks and parasols are included in the price of admission.

Benidorm returns to the pre-pandemic situation in water consumption and waste production

The data on water consumption and waste production confirm that “Benidorm has recovered the pulse it had before the outbreak of the pandemic, with figures very similar to those obtained in 2019”. This was confirmed today by the mayor, Toni Pérez, after analyzing the 2022 annual data for both parameters, which “draw a picture very similar to the one we enjoyed before the Covid -19 crisis, in line with the recovery data tourist that we have been getting to know throughout the year”.

According to these data, Benidorm closed 2022 with water consumption of 9,911,396.04 cubic meters, 27.47% more than the previous year and very close to the volumes registered in the two years before the pandemic. In fact, in 2019 the annual consumption was 9,980,490.20 cubic meters. “Since May, every month the consumption of 2019 has been exceeded, although the annual calculation has been lower since in the first months of the year tourist activity was affected by the Omicrón wave”, he specified.

The mayor remarked that “in parallel to the recovery of water consumption compared to the two years of the pandemic, the City Council and the concessionaire company Hidraqua have made a significant investment effort to improve water infrastructure and increase this performance of the water network and generate savings”. In fact, he recalled, “current consumption is lower than it was two decades ago when we had less population and less accommodation.”

Also, “in recent years, the use and reuse have been significantly promoted, with a constant increase in the use of purified water for watering gardens and washing streets; an aspect in which we are going to deepen and continue advancing since the intention is to expand the network and points of intake of purified water to all areas of Benidorm”.

About urban waste, throughout 2022 production was close to 63,000 tons, 28.24% more than the previous year, although the figure is 8% lower than that registered in 2019.

Toni Pérez indicated that “if we go into a more detailed analysis of the data collected by the Engineering department, it can be seen that the public and the productive fabric increasingly practice the segregation of waste at source”. That is to say, more and more homes and establishments separate organic waste from packaging, glass and paper and cardboard”. Specifically, in 2022, just over 12,000 tons of glass, packaging, paper, household goods, and debris have been segregated at source, 19.15% of the total waste collected. This percentage represents 2.5% more than in 2019.

The mayor stressed that “gradually the population is becoming aware of the importance of separating waste”; and added that “we are convinced that these percentage increases will continue to grow exponentially once the new contract for waste collection and cleaning of public spaces comes into operation, which contemplates the implementation of measures that will favor that separation of waste at source”.

In addition, he pointed out, Benidorm City Council has obtained almost 1.5 million euros of European funds for the implementation of new separated collections, especially bio-waste, and improvement of the existing ones, which “will also result in the improvement of separation, recovery, and reuse. These systems will have to be implemented in the year 2025.

With these starting figures and the foreseeable increases that will occur with the new contract and the improvement of the selective collection, “everything indicates that Benidorm will achieve the waste segregation objectives contemplated in the new Law and that it should be 50% in 2035 ”.

How to lose weight naturally: Diet secrets of binge eater who was told she would ‘die’

A 171kg binge eater – who doctors said would die if she did not lose weight – has shed a staggering 101kg.

Jade Davis, 24, lost the kilos naturally, and now wants to share her astonishing success – and secrets – with others.

WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE: Binge eater reveals how she lost 101kg.

Davis, from the UK county of Nottinghamshire, weighed 171kg at just 22 years of age.

A cycle of bullying and binge eating was primarily behind her weight spiralling out of control.

But in January 2021, doctors told her she would not survive her type two diabetes unless she radically changed her ways.

Davis is now almost unrecognisable – having shed 101kg – and has embraced a vast range of lifestyle activities not previously open to her due to her weight.

Davis said she was one of the biggest kids in school and was bullied by boys who said they’d “never want to be with her”.

The barbs prompted her to comfort eat as a coping mechanism.

When the “little digs” continued to erode her self-esteem at university, she dropped out of her studies.

Then her eating became so “out of control” she topped the scales at more than 171kg and was a dress size 30.

At her largest, the 24-year-old said she felt sick of being in her own body.

She couldn’t fit on fairground rides, had to ask for an extender belt on airplanes and would dodge mirrors.

But when Davis was told that, unchecked, her weight and diabetes would put her into an early grave, she was spurred into action.

What started as a 2021 new year’s resolution evolved into a complete change of lifestyle.

And adopting a healthy diet and regular exercise led her to drop a staggering nine dress sizes.

The health care service activity coordinator now feels like the sky’s the limit.

She dons slinky size 12 dresses, is happier than ever and, despite disliking her loose skin, is ‘proud’ of it.

The newfound fitness lover has amassed more than 51,300 followers online by sharing her weight loss journey.

She is keen to show it can be done without forking out thousands on surgery.

“When I was at my biggest I was depressed the majority of the time,” Davis said.

“Because of my diabetes, the doctor basically said ‘you need to lose weight or you’re going to die’.

“That was probably the turning point to starting my weight loss.

She said it scared her at first, knowing she now had to take medication essentially to survive.

Being told she would die was the turning point. Credit: Kennedy News and Media

“I was sick of being in the body that I was in and scared of what the future was going to bring because I was so big.

“The words ‘you will die’ kept me going quite a lot.

“I’ve had massive encouragement from my family and those online have given me a lot of support.”

    Fat shaming bullies

Davis was picked on for her appearance towards the end of primary school, which continued into secondary.

“Obviously now, the way I get treated has completely changed – just because of my size,” she said.

Davis said she was called “fatty” and told she needed to lose weight.

“There used to be girls that would make fun of me just because I was an easy target, and there were lads that were saying they would ‘never want to be with me’,” she said.

“Food was a coping thing for me.

“There was an emotional side to it at the beginning, because I was always so upset (due to bullying), I used to eat.

“The same happened at uni but it used to happen behind my back.

“They’d just said ‘how can she get this big?’, ‘She needs to stop eating’.”

    ‘Wasn’t good enough’

Davis shared that some people even callously suggested she take her own life.

“It made me feel upset. There were some times that I just felt like I wanted to go,” she admitted.

“There were times that I felt like I wasn’t good enough.”

The former child and youth studies student said she piled on a lot of weight after leaving uni because she’d eat anything she could get her hands on.

At one point, she would grab a calorific takeaway of mixed kebab, chips and garlic mayo on her way home from work every day for nearly three months, which cost her around £360.

She eventually became almost 174kg and a dress size 28-30.

During this time, her physical health took a turn for the worse as she would constantly feel fatigued and her diabetes became more severe.

She would eat anything she could get her hands on. Credit: Kennedy News and Media

“Quite a lot of the time I never used to go out because of what I looked like and wanted to stay at home, which made me eat even more,” Davis said.

“When I was at uni I went out a bit but I wasn’t completely comfortable going out that much because I was scared of everyone else picking on me and stuff.

“It started to go out of control straight after uni (2018) and that time period, between dropping out of uni and getting a new job, is when my weight started to rapidly increase.”

At uni, she was scared to go out in case she was picked on. Credit: Kennedy News and Media

Davis went on holiday, to Benidorm in Spain, and had to ask the airline to provide her a seat belt extender, a request which made her feel “really nervous”.

Once in Spain, she couldn’t even go to see the sights.

“There was nothing I could physically do because I couldn’t walk anywhere,” she said.

“I had to stay by the pool and felt very restricted.

“Not being able to fit on rides was embarrassing. (One operator) just said, ‘Love you can’t come on here, you’re too big’.

“I was a bit upset and ashamed.”

Davis started to lose weight in January 2021. Credit: Kennedy News and Media

When she started to lose weight in January 2021, she ate in a “calorie deficit” – where you eat and drink fewer calories than you burn – by sticking to meal plans.

And she became more active by walking at least 10,000 steps a day.

She started going to the gym that October and now goes four times a week.

Davis reached her lowest weight of 70kg last October and is now a dress size 12-14.

She claims she has since been weaning herself off her diabetes medication and nearly managed to reverse the condition.

When she returned to Benidorm in May 2022 she could do everything she wanted to do, compared to when she was restricted by her weight during her 2018 visit.

This included walking around with ease, exploring the area, as well as sitting in chairs without feeling self-conscious.

Davis is now full of optimism for the future and is even considering becoming a fitness coach.

“I feel great now and can go and do stuff without my weight holding me back,” she said.

“I’m just generally happier and trying to look towards the future.

“I can go on rides now and went on one when I was at winter wonderland in my hometown.

“It was amazing and emotional. It made me kind of cry a bit because I could actually get on them.”

    ‘Loose skin’

As well as maintaining her current body form, Davis still wants to work at one important thing.

She would like to lose her “loose skin” – a byproduct of her staggering weight loss.

“Honestly I don’t really like my loose skin, quite a lot of the time I do feel self-conscious about it,” she said.

“But then I feel proud, in the sense that I’d rather have it over fat, and I’ve worked hard to get it.

“In the future, I’m hoping to get rid of it.”

Meantime, she’s enjoying her new physique.

Some people from her hometown don’t recognise her at all. Credit: Kennedy News and Media

“I’ve had people say that I don’t look anything like what I used to and that I look a lot healthier and happier, which is definitely true,” she said.

“Some people from my hometown don’t recognise me at all.

“I’ve had quite a few (male bullies from school) message me saying ‘you’ve changed a lot’ and wanting to talk to me.

“It was a bit of a shock at first but, in the end, I was happy not to message them back.

“They didn’t acknowledge me when I was bigger, and I’m not going to acknowledge them now because I’m smaller.”

    Helping others

Davis has started a TikTok to help others lose weight – and show it can be done naturally.

“You don’t have to go through thousands of (dollars) worth of procedures to do it,” she said.

She suggests not going “straight into the gym” and exercising at the beginning.

“I think quite a lot of the time you firstly need to get your head around calorie counting because if you do it all together, you’ll find that some people do get overwhelmed and give up.

“I’d tell others who want to lose weight to do a lot of research.

“It took me a lot of time to do it but it’s definitely something to work on because, in the end, the result will be something you’ll be proud of.”

The Canary Islands for kids – BlueBay Sensations

The Canary Islands are an even more attractive destination during the winter months, thanks to the year-round warm weather.  Every year, a large number of tourists from all over the world choose this holiday spot to escape from the cold weather in their hometowns and cities for a few days each year.

For many, feeling the sun on your skin in the midst of January and February is a luxury, and this is guaranteed in the Canaries.

If you are planning on travelling with your family, it is a good idea to discover what’s on offer and what you can do, so the little ones take full advantage of their holidays in the sun.

Here are just some of the options:

Spend the day at Playa de la Cantera

This urban beach in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is considered one of the best for families. There are several sports facilities and children’s activities, restaurants and all types of services offered at Playa de la Cantera. But what makes it special is the reef, a natural stone barrier, that protects the beach from the waves and acts like a natural aquarium for shoals of fishes.

    Visit the Elder Museum

A science and technology museum with four floors of exhibition halls, interactive spaces, temporary exhibitions, a 3D planetarium, simulators, and much more, making it a complete and educational activity for all the family in the centre of Las Palmas.

    Scuba diving with stingrays

Although closely related to sharks, sea rays have a reputation for being gentle. Thanks to their flat body, their graceful swimming makes them an incredibly interesting diving companion. Children over the age of 8 are welcome to participate in this incredible activity

This incredible experience is available on the island of Tenerife and is suitable for children over 8 years of age. A fantastic trip for both adults and kids to discover the diversity of the marine flora and fauna first-hand.

Shuffleboarding is a very popular sport during the winter season.

    Canyoning

It is not as dangerous as it sounds, so don’t worry. Children older than seven can safely descend and rappel and experiencing this activity in nature allows them to also enjoy the natural slides and waterfalls. One thing to note is that if parents are inexperienced, it is mandatory to hire a specialised guide to go with you. This is definitely one of the top activities during the winter season in the Canary Islands.

    Vía Ferrata

Gran Canaria. This is a mix of walking and climbing in the midst of nature for children older than 12 years old. Via Ferrata means “iron way” in Italian, and the route has metal cables to assure all those taking part are fully protected. Remember to bring comfortable clothing and footwear with a good grip, and plenty of water.

Urban beaches are always a good option

After all this activity and adventures, the whole family is sure to be ready and looking forward to a good shower and an even better night’s rest. We recommend staying at the BelleVue Aquarius, BlueBay Beach Club or BlueBay Lanzarote hotels, all of which offer fully equipped apartments to make you feel completely at home.

5 Kid-Friendly Activities on Tenerife in Spain’s Canary Islands

Tenerife is the best known of Spain’s Canary Islands, an archipelago 600 miles off the Iberian coast. It’s sometimes called “Europe’s Caribbean” for its beautiful beaches (you can read about them here), but the island offers many other attractions kids love:

Watch Dolphins Play at Loro Parque

Part marine park, part zoo and part tropical garden, the prize-winning Loro Parque features multiple daily shows with sea lions, parrots and orcas, but the biggest kid-pleaser is the dolphin show. A pod of these highly intelligent sea mammals literally jumps through hoops to delight audiences with precision swimming, diving and jumping. They perform somersaults and tailspins in mid-air, swim in underwater formations and even act as surfboards for park staff.

Elsewhere, an artificial iceberg cools a large colony of penguins, and pelicans, fish and pink flamingoes walk through the shallow waters. Rare jaguars are a highlight of the land zoo, where animals live in naturalized environments (more than 7,000 palm trees grow here). Residents include monkeys, gorillas, lions, tigers and a rainbow of tropical birds. A free express bus runs every 20 minutes from Puerto de la Cruz waterfront.

    Get Wet at Aqualand

If the kids want to cavort in the water themselves, take a trip to Aqualand, where there are splash-down rides, water slides and tunnels, pools and places to cool off in the water. There are separate rides designed for younger children. The dolphin show, included in the admission price, is more attuned to learning about the habits of the animals with less emphasis on performance. Located on the south shore of the island, Aqualand is easy to reach on free buses from Los Cristianos and Playa Las Americas.

Ride a Camel at Camel Park

Camels have been used traditionally on Tenerife since introduced in the 1600s. Their ability to survive without water made them valuable to farmers and for transport in the volcanic interiors of these arid islands. Although replaced by motorized transport, they have become a local icon and there are now as many as 1,200 on the Canary Islands. Camel Park was Tenerife’s first camel breeding center, on a banana farm in 1988, and they still offer the best camel-riding experience, with well-treated animals and trails through a natural environment. Adults and older children can ride astride on camel saddles, while younger ones can ride in seats. Most places offering camel rides have seats, which sit in pairs at either side of the camel’s hump.

    Meet Mummies

Yes, real ones and up close at Museo de la Naturaleza y el Hombre — Museum of Nature and Man. The Guanches, original island inhabitants, mummified their dead and despite efforts of the early religious orders to destroy them, a few of the mummies survived and are dramatically displayed and well interpreted. Exhibits (ask for the English translation cards) show how skeletons can tell historians about the life, work, diseases and diet of long-ago peoples. Sea life exhibits are also good — kids like the giant squid suspended overhead — and other exhibits explore the island’s volcanic origins. The museum is in the capital city of Santa Cruz, a short walk from the central bus station.

    Build Castles from Sahara Sand

Most of Tenerife’s beaches, although beautiful for sunbathing, are open to Atlantic surf and not great for small children or less accomplished swimmers. Playa de las Teresitas, five miles from central Santa Cruz, was built for local families, without the hotels and tourist congestion of the popular international beaches. The long crescent beach is protected by artificial barrier reefs, partially enclosing a lagoon of gentle waters welcoming to snorkelers and swimmers.

The sand was brought in from the Sahara Desert, not all that far away from these Atlantic islands. The long, gradual incline into the water makes it ideal for wading children. Changing rooms and showers are free and guests can rent beach chairs and umbrellas, while kiosks sell drinks, snacks and lunches. Apart from the beautiful beach, families love the informal, casual atmosphere of a beach populated by friendly local people happy to share their beach. You can get there by local bus from Santa Cruz.

    United Aviate Academy Takes Off

United Airlines officially became the only major U.S. airline to own a flight training school with the opening of United Aviate Academy on Jan. 27. The moment was made even more historic with its inaugural class, which is 80 percent women and people of color.

Human rights activists fear that refugees from Ukraine will be taken apart for organs in Europe

    Worldwide

Source: Global Look Press / Heiko Rebsch / spa

Madrid, 8 April. In Spain, they are investigating the case of the disappearance of children from Ukraine. A group of minors disappeared en route to the Canary Islands. This was reported by the newspaper El País.

According to media reports, a group of 30-40 children from Ukraine on March 29 was supposed to leave the city of Huelva for the Canary Islands. It was planned that they would arrive at their destination on Friday, April 1, but the refugees never showed up. According to available information, the organizer was a Ukrainian woman living on the island of Fuerteventura. It was she who notified the authorities of the Canary Islands about the arrival of a large group of children. This was her second mission; on March 11, she had already brought three teachers and 16 minors from an orphanage near Kyiv to the island. It is noted that the woman did this in cooperation with the local mayor’s office.

Several sources at once indicate that it was the Ukrainian woman who was behind the organization of the transportation of children, but she herself denies everything in a conversation with the media.

“I don’t know anything about it. They call me and ask: “Are your children in Huelva?” What children? Which Huelva? I don’t know anything about these kids. Finding accommodation is another matter, but I don’t know anything about Huelva. At the moment I am not expecting any children,” she told El País reporters.

The Ukrainian woman is known to run a surf school in Fuerteventura and organize children’s camps throughout the year.

    The children did not exist

The Spanish Ministry of the Interior conducted an investigation into the missing children, which involved the police of Madrid, Andalusia and the Canary Islands. However, a week later, they still did not find anyone.

Andalusian government spokesman Pedro Fernández assured that during the checks carried out by the National Police at the port of Huelva and the ferries bound for the Canary Islands, there was no indication that this group of Ukrainian minors “really exists”.

According to local media, the statement contradicts the message of the Director General of Child Protection of the Government of the Canary Islands Irache Serrano , who received the news on March 29 from a brigade of foreigners from the city of Las Palmas, who confirmed the existence of the group.

“Hello, Irache. Today, about 30 underage Ukrainians were going to board a ship bound for Gran Canaria. As a result, the children did not land. Let’s see if they try to go somewhere else, or decide to stay on the mainland, ”the message says.

    Lack of control

As noted in El País, the case of the disappearance of a group of Ukrainian children was another example of poor control over refugee flows. Reports of children arriving from Ukraine without official supervision have increased since the beginning of the special operation of the RF Armed Forces.

At the end of March, the National Police of Spain arrested a Ukrainian at the South Bus Station in Madrid, who pretended to be a relative of two teenagers aged 15 and 16. Law enforcement officers have already been warned, but interrogations and the contents of the luggage of minors only confirmed the worst suspicions.

According to human rights activists, all initiatives to take children out of Ukraine should be carried out under the jurisdiction of the governments of both countries. Even in the case when agreements are made at the municipal level, the federal authorities still need to be aware and act as intermediaries so that such situations do not occur.

In Spain, the central authority for the protection of the 1980 Hague Convention, the legal basis for the protection of children in cross-border situations, is the Ministry of Justice. So far, despite the large number of children who have arrived, the department has not received requests.

    Slavery and organ trafficking

Refugees from Ukraine “disappear” not only in Spain. The Scottish charity Positive Action in Housing has criticized the UK government’s Homes for Ukraine program (Houses for Ukrainians – Approx. ed.), fearing that it endangers women and children.

General Director Robina Qureshi likened the current policy to “triage” as the authorities seek to put visitors through a “very poorly structured process.”

The Homes for Ukraine program suggests that the British can accommodate some of the refugees, for this you need to leave an application on a special website. In fact, it has led to the fact that many Ukrainians, including minors, are looking for so-called “sponsors” on social networks and posting personal information about themselves, including photos and other data. This, in turn, attracts human traffickers and other criminal elements, up to and including “black transplants”.

“These are the girls who say “I found someone on Facebook”✱. These are 15-year-old boys, 17-year-old students! All of them are potential victims of human traffickers. This means the sex trade, the labor trade and the organ harvesting trade,” Qureshi said.

The UK government has assured that all families hosting refugees will be checked by local authorities prior to the arrival of Ukrainians.

Top 6 Walking Trails in the Canary Islands

Roque de Los Muchachos, La Palma: Rising almost 2500m above La Palma, Roque de Los Muchachos is a rugged peak that juts out over one of the world’s largest volcanic craters. As you hike along the crater rim, picturesque subalpine landscapes open up, presenting uninterrupted views across La Palma and the Canary Islands. On a clear day, you can see right over to Tenerife’s Mount Teide. At certain points on the walk, you can even peer inside the caldera.

Cumbre de Bolico Ridge, Tenerife: Teno Rural Park is located  northwest of Tenerife and is popular among travellers wanting to explore the natural world on their holidays to the Canary Islands. Home to sweet-smelling laurel forests, coastal cliffs and a mountainous massif, the park plays host to an array of wonderful birds, lizards and various other species of animals. Following ancient shepherd’s trails through the undulating terrain, the walk up to the Cumbre de Bolico Ridge presents you with dramatic views across the Atlantic Ocean and Mount Teide. Descending from the ridge walk, you’ll pass traditional farmsteads on the way down to Masca village.

La Ruta de Los Volcanes, La Palma: Our walking holidays to the Canary Islands wouldn’t be complete without a trek along the famous La Ruta de Los Volcanes (volcano route). Starting from Refugio del Pilar, the trail winds through pine forests and vineyards, passing volcanic craters and lava landscapes en route. With any luck you’ll spot some of the local birdlife such as kestrels and rooks along the way.

Camino Real de Chasna, Tenerife: Spanning the north and south of Tenerife, the Camino Real de Chasna is a fantastic walk that guides you along old shepherd’s paths and through dense pine forests to Paisaje Lunar, or the Moon Landscape as it’s often referred to. Carved out by volcanic eruptions, these geological formations draw walkers from around the world. The trek continues to the summit of Mount Guarjara where you’re rewarded with sublime views that stretch across the Canaries.

Teide National Park, Tenerife: Home to the majestic Mount Teide and other ancient volcanoes, Teide National Park is filled with walking trails that showcase some of Tenerife’s most beautiful and dramatic scenery. An exhilarating trek to the peak of Samara volcano, which stands 2000m above sea level, takes you on an awe-inspiring journey of discovery that will enhance your holiday. From the summit you can soak up staggering views of El Teide and beyond to Pico Viejo.

Camino Real de la Costa GR130, La Palma: Arguably the most famous hiking trail in La Palma, and perhaps even the Canary Islands, the Camino Real de la Costa, also known as GR130, links some of the island’s most integral villages. This long-distance coastal path runs through La Palma and steers you among beautiful landscapes speckled with vineyards, banana plantations, citrus groves and mango orchards before finally arriving at the colonial town of San Andrés. If the colourful fruit-strewn scenery doesn’t capture your attention, the coastal views certainly will.
