Yachting in May – rest on a yacht during May holidays
The May holidays have long been given the status of holidays and most of the inhabitants of our country are associated with a short vacation. This time is ideal for visiting overseas resorts. What could be better after a long Russian winter than sailing surrounded by exotic landscapes, warm sun and clear sea!
nine0025
Since the key to a successful trip is the right preparation, you should start with the study of the “range” and careful planning.
Yacht charter
Croatia – the center of the labyrinths of the Adriatic
This country is one of the leaders in popularity among sailing enthusiasts. Both professional yachtsmen and amateur yachtsmen come here with enthusiasm, because Croatia has prepared a special place for each guest. In a relatively miniature state, there is a five hundred-kilometer coastline with picturesque bays, grottoes, lagoons and entire islands. Navigation in Croatia is quite difficult, so for beginners who come here for the first time, it is better to organize a trip to the sea with more trained athletes. And an additional bonus for active travelers is diving in the Adriatic Sea.

French Polynesia
French Polynesia is a friendly group of islands and archipelagos nestled comfortably in the Pacific Ocean. In a small area, there are about 115 different-sized islands, which together form 5 archipelagos: the Tuamotu, the Marquesas Islands, the Gambier and Tubuai Islands, as well as the Society Islands.
The island of Tahiti, known to every professional yachtsman, is not only the center of French Polynesia. In addition, this island has received the well-deserved status of the center of sailing. Those who prefer active sports without interruption from the benefits of civilization come here.
nine0025
For tourists who dream of taking a break from the bustle of the people, Tuamotu is perfect, which includes more than seventy atolls of coral origin. Tuamotu is the perfect place for a romantic adventure in the style of Robinson Crusoe. Another interesting place is the Marquesas Islands. There are no reefs here, but their absence is compensated by the presence of a huge number of picturesque bays.
Greece – on the way to Olympus
Greece has long been famous for its picturesque islands, spread across several seas at once. The Aegean Sea is a paradise for yachting enthusiasts, because here you can choose a route, depending on the level of training and available time.
nine0025
May is the ideal time for sailing on the waters of the island regions of the Cyclades. The main boom of tourists in these places falls on the summer months (it is due to the fact that most Europeans who choose these lands for recreation prefer to take vacations in July-August). Therefore, in May, you can comfortably relax in a quiet retreat and enjoy the beautiful views around.
It is impossible to visit Greece and not visit Rhodes (the most interesting monuments of ancient architecture are concentrated here) and Ithaca (the birthplace of the legendary Odysseus). Not far from Athens are the interesting bays of Argolikos and Saronicos.
nine0025
Spain – a country of “five-star” swims
Spain is a country of hot sun and always a fair wind. Both owners of their own yachts and those who prefer to rent a boat come here. There is no shortage of rental offers, so each guest will pick up a yacht, depending on their wishes and possibilities.
Palma de Mallorca, Balearic, Ibiza, Menorca are the undisputed leaders of yachting. The choice of a route in the water area of Spain directly depends on the duration of the route. If you have a week left, then during one trip you can visit Mallorca, Formentera and Ibiza, alternating a cruise trip with sunbathing on deserted beaches, surfing and kitesurfing. And true lovers of adrenaline will be offered to arrange a short trip in the open ocean.

French Riviera
From Mentora to Marseille itself, there is another priority place – the Cote d’Azur. A walk around the islands and bays should be diluted with short trips to Saint-Tropez and Grimaud. Once upon a time, impenetrable swamps flaunted on the site of fashionable streets and such a transformation is definitely worth seeing with your own eyes.
Lorenz Islands in the south side of Nice, the birthplace of Napoleon – Corsica – every guest will find here something that will be remembered for a lifetime. Of course, it is hardly worth counting on secluded sailing trips, because the Cote d’Azur is one of the most “promoted” destinations on the planet.
nine0025
May is considered the ideal time for swimming in the bays of the Cote d’Azur. At this time, there are not so many fans of sailing here, and it is still not as hot as in summer. It is best to go here not for a couple of days, but for two weeks. During this time, you will be able to enjoy amazing views of the Cote d’Azur and get to know its most important sights better.
Caribbean
This place is the birthplace of the delicious Curosao liqueur and the filming location of the famous movie “Pirates of the Caribbean”, but these two facts did not make it popular on the planet. Deserted long beaches, exotic vegetation and open sea – all these advantages attract yachting fans from all over the world. In order to rent a boat or charter, you need to have a captain’s license. Where does this data come from
Weather data for Spanish Fork was collected from the MERRA-2 project from NASA, which used a climate model combined with historical data from weather stations around the world to estimate what the conditions were like for every point on the Earth.
For all data based on historical data, we’ve averaged the data from the past 11 years (2010-2020). For example, for the hourly temperature at 10am, we’ve looked at the temperature at 10am on every day in May (e.g., May 1, May 2, etc. in 2010, 2011, etc.) and took the arithmetic mean. We did not smooth the data, so for example, our daily temperature line will have some randomness due to the fact that weather is random in the first place.

Weather Forecast for 18 to 24 May It was a mainly warm and sunny week across Tenerife with only some cloud about and not much sign on the coast of the showers that had been predicted. Although still warm, as predicted there was a noticeable drop in temperatures during the second half of the week.
Weather Forecast for Tenerife 25 to 31 May The north and east look like they’ll enjoy the lion’s share of the sunshine with only a few cloudy spells. The south and south west will have sunshine every day but with some cloudy spells as well; midweek could see some grey clouds about. There’s a slight chance of light showers in most parts of Tenerife with the south being most likely, although if it happens it will probably be higher up the slopes. Temperatures will follow a similar pattern to recent weeks with a hot start to the week followed by a dip and a rise for the weekend.
Weather in South Tenerife – There will be a mix of cloud and sun between Monday and Thursday with Wednesday and Thursday experiencing the most cloud. Things will brighten up for a sunny weekend. Temperatures start the week at 24C before dropping to 19/20C before climbing back to 22/24C at the weekend. There’s a 5-35% chance of showers between Monday and Friday.
Weather in North Tenerife – It should be a mainly sunny week with some cloudy spells on Monday and Tuesday morning. There’s a 5-20% chance of showers throughout the week. Temperatures start the week at 23C, drop to 18/20C midweek and climb back to 23C for the weekend.
Weather in East Tenerife – The same pattern as the north of Tenerife.
Weather in South West Tenerife – Nearly the same as the forecast for the south, except Tuesday and Wednesday look like they could experience the most cloud, and there’s less of a chance of showers.
Weather in the Mount Teide Crater – It looks like it could be an unusually rainy week in Teide National Park with light showers breaking up the sunshine at crater level at least until the weekend.
Tenerife Weather 25 April to 1 May The pattern continued much the same as in previous weeks with a good amount of sunshine, cloudy spells and some rain, but nothing serious. High waves affected some ferries in the south of Tenerife, but all in all it was a typical end of April, beginning of May week. We spent the second half of the week in the south of La Gomera where it was mostly hot and sunny but also quite breezy.
Weather Forecast for Tenerife 2 to 8 May It’s no real surprise that the outlook continues to be similar with sunshine forecast for nearly every day on all coasts, but with cloudy spells and the chance of showers as well from Tuesday afternoon. It looks that most places will see some of the wets stuff at some point over the weekend. The forecast for the big 3rd of May firework display in Los Realejos on Tuesday is for an 80% chance of rain. Let’s hope it doesn’t turn out to be a damp squib.
Weather in South Tenerife – The week could start with a sunny Monday morning and then it should be a mix of sun and cloud for the rest of the week, especially from Wednesday to Sunday when there will also be a chance of showers (5-80%). At the moment some rain is most likely at the weekend. Shade temperatures start the week at 25C and then will stick around 20/22C from Wednesday onwards.
Weather in North Tenerife – Monday and Tuesday morning should see plenty of sunshine but after that there could be more cloud than sun each day with a good chance of showers from Tuesday afternoon. There’s a 30 to 65% chance of showers between Tuesday afternoon and Thursday, rising to 95 to 100% between Friday and Sunday. Shade temperatures start the week around 25C before dropping slightly to 22C on Tuesday and then staying around 18C from Wednesday for the rest of the week.
Weather in East Tenerife – The forecast for Santa Cruz mirrors that of the northern coast in all ways except there could be more sunshine.
Weather in South West Tenerife – Much the same as the south with a sunny start to the week and a mix of sun, cloud and showers during the second half of the week. There’s a 5 to 55% possibility of rain between Wednesday and Friday and a 75/80% chance over the weekend. Temperatures start the week at 24/25C before settling at 21/22C from Wednesday through to Sunday.
Weather in the Mount Teide Crater – The outlook is much the same for Teide National Park with a mix of sun and cloud every day as well as the chance of light showers from Tuesday afternoon till the end of the week. On the summit of Mount Teide it should be bright and sunny all week. Temperatures should hover between 7 and 9C in the crater and -3 and 2C on the peak of Mount Teide.
The Tenerife Weather This Time in 2015 So what happened this time last year? ‘Much of the same as last week with cloud affecting some areas at the start of the week, which may even result in rainfall on higher ground.

Ibitsa is located on the territory of the Mediterranean Island of the Archithore of the same name in the Ballery. . The city is located on a hill. It is surrounded by ancient fortresses. Near the bay is a seaport. The nearest air harbor is located seven kilometers from Ibiza. The city is considered to be a major tourist center. Young people from all over the world come here to hang out at the famous discos and have fun at incendiary parties. nine0003
History of the city of Ibiza
The city was founded in 654 BC by Phoenician colonists. At that time it was called Ibossim. The Phoenicians immediately started building a port on its coast. Then the city was conquered by the Romans, who gave it the name Ebusus, and when the Moors captured the island, it was renamed Yebisah. In all the old names of Ibiza, you can hear the phrase “the island of Bes” – the ancient Greek god of entertainment and eroticism. He endowed the reproductive power of men. Under his protection were women in labor and babies. nine0003
The Phoenicians were expelled from the island by the Carthaginians. The famous Assyrian invasion is still remembered here. Under the Romans, fish sauce (garum), wool, natural dye and salt were supplied to the continent from here.
Ibiza has become a popular holiday destination since the 1960s. Hippies spent their holidays here at that time. Until now, the island attracts young people from different parts of our planet, who have a noisy and fun vacation here.
Ibiza on the world map
Ibiza sights and tourism
Even today the city has retained its historical appearance and charm. This is especially noticeable in the areas of Old Town D’Alt Vila, El Eixample and Ra Marina. UNESCO has listed the architecture of the Old City as a World Heritage Site. Here you can visit the Museum of Modern Art and the magnificent Archaeological Museum with unique prehistoric objects.
The ferry terminal is the starting point for traveling around the Old Town. Then you will find yourself in the Sa Peña quarter and walk along its old streets. Ancient fortifications fence off the Old Town from modern Ibiza. Here you can take a look at medieval sights – the Dominican Church of St. Domingo of the 16th century and the Cathedral, which was built in the 13th-14th centuries. It is decorated with baroque, renaissance and gothic elements. Previously, in its place was the temple of Mercury. nine0003
At the Museo Pich de Molins on Via Romana, you will see sarcophagi found in an ancient burial site near the city and pottery from that era. Under the museum building you can visit the necropolis with tombs.
Population of Ibiza
In 2010, 49.5 thousand people lived in the city. Ibiza is the capital of the island of the same name, which is known for its party youth centers. Mostly the British rest in them. You can also meet Spaniards, French and Germans here. Russians are not frequent guests of this expensive resort. The “club season” period starts in June and ends in September. nine0003
The old town is equipped with a marina that receives daily ferries linking Ibiza with Barcelona, Dénia, Palma and Formentera. The pier is surrounded by numerous bars and cafes. The Sa Peña area is full of shops, restaurants, bars and other entertainment options.
Climate and ecology of Ibiza
The island is influenced by the Mediterranean climate. Compared to Mallorca, it has cool summers and warm winters. The average annual temperature is at the level of +18C. In summer, the air warms up to +30C. Precipitation at this time of the year is practically non-existent.

A new month is set to spell a new phase of winter weather for Britain – with stormy conditions on the horizon, the Met Office predicts. January has so far seen sub-zero temperatures, snow and freezing fog, making those darker mornings all the more harder to navigate. But as February sits just days away, the signs of winter gently mellowing are yet to be seen – with a risk of snow, cold interludes and a chance of the UK’s first named storm arriving.
Overnight on January 31 a snow plume does appear to push over Scotland and the north east, leaving a dusting for people to wake up to on February 1. Interactive maps WXCHARTS suggest for the first week of February at least, things appear to become more settled.
The nation as a whole could bask in temperatures of up to 6C, even in the likes of Scotland where snow coverage has been thick and consistent. Then, on February 9 at around midnight it shows a band of rain pushing in off the Atlantic targetting large swathes of Ireland, from Cork to Belfast, as well as encompassing the north western coast of Scotland.
While this is typical British winter weather, the Met Office has detailed in its long range forecast just what people could expect into the first days of the new month – and it really is a mixed bag thanks to a high pressure system centred in the north.
From Tuesday, January 31 – when the brief snowfall is predicted, to February 9 – it says: “Tuesday likely cloudy with rain in the north, especially the northwest, clearing to sunny spells and blustery showers.
Snow may blast the north east during brief colder spells, the Met Office says (Image: WXCHARTS/Getty)
British holiday hotspots covered in snow as Spain hit with -15C weather warning
Brits planning to escape the chilly temperatures to their favourite holiday hotspots may not get the sunny climes they were hoping for as temperatures plunge far below zero in destinations across Spain.
The beaches of Ibiza have been covered in snow after the icy weather even reached Majorca – with one village on the island reaching almost -2C, while other parts of Spain reach -15C.
Read more HERE.
The colder period will transition to milder weather in early February (Image: WXCHARTS)
“Initially mostly dry in the south with some sunshine, but likely becoming cloudier with some patchy rain later. Into the rest of the period, the main theme is of high pressure centred to the south, with low pressure systems passing to the north.
“This will result in frontal systems spreading from the northwest, bringing spells of wet and windy weather mainly to the north and northwest.”
But, the south won’t evade the rain entirely – with the leading forecaster not ruling out any brief cold periods. It adds: “The south is also likely to see some rain at times. In any colder interludes between frontal systems, we will likely see a mixture of sunshine and showers, perhaps wintry in the northeast.
“Temperatures generally varying between mild and cool, with a frost risk remaining.”

A milder period is on the cards – but with this comes the chances of rain and strong gales (Image: WXCHARTS)
Some maps indicate the potential for gales and stormy weather towards the middle of the month (Image: WXCHARTS)
Brian Gaze, the founder of The Weather Outlook, described next week as “changeable” and alluded to more cold Arctic air which may cut across the UK. In his blog he said: “The early part of next week is looking changeable.
“High pressure continues to have a lot of influence, but it probably retreats southwestwards for a time. That allows more active disturbances to bring showers or longer spells of rain at times. Also, a plunge of cold Arctic air may briefly move down across the UK.”
Looking further ahead into February, the Met Office long-range forecast from February 9 to 23 suggests changeable conditions will continue throughout the month. The big question mark is how severe it will be – and whether it will constitute disruptive weather.
It adds: “During this period, frontal activity and associated changeable weather conditions are likely to bring rainfall, heavy at times, especially to the north and west.
Trending
“The south and east are expected to see some lighter rain or showers at times, interspersed with some drier and brighter periods.
“A brief spell of more settled conditions is possible in the middle of the period, bringing a greater risk of overnight frost and freezing fog, especially under clear skies with light winds.
“Temperatures are expected to be generally at or slightly above average, although a brief colder spell remains possible.”

Sea temperature
Ibiza comes to life in May. Daytime and evening temperatures become warm and rainy spells become less frequent. The sea temperature is still cool, but brave swimmers return to the waves for the first swim of the season. We’ve looked at the most up-to-date weather data for Ibiza, covering the last 12 years up to 2023, plus we’ve asked our team of travel bloggers for their first-hand experiences in order to answer the most frequently asked questions about Ibiza weather in May.
What’s the temperature like in Ibiza during May?
The temperature is extremely stable in May with average highs of 20℃ and lows just 2℃ lower at 18℃. The UV index will be high at this time of year, so protection against skin and eye damage is needed.
Try to limit exposure between 10am and 4pm. Apply broad spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen every few hours, even if it’s cloudy, or more frequently after sweating or swimming, and wear UV-blocking sunglasses too, and bear in mind that bright surfaces, such as sand and water increase UV exposure.
Does it rain in Ibiza during May?
On average, there will be 2 rainy days during the month, amounting to 27.7mm in total. That’s much drier than we see in England during August, and therefore not something to be concerned about. There’s a small chance that you’ll catch a thunderstorm during your trip.
Is it windy in Ibiza during May?
You’re unlikely to experience any strong winds. Expect a gentle breeze that increases to moderate at times during May. With warm air temperatures and high humidity, any breeze will feel warm but refreshing.
How warm is the sea in Ibiza during May?
The water around Ibiza is around 19℃ during May. It will feel a little on the cool when first entering, but you’ll warm up quickly. Most kids will have no problem with this temperature, but those who feel the cold are unlikely to want to swim.

Our month-by-month guide to the weather and climate in Ibiza
Packing your suitcase? Read the forecast – maybe instead of a swimsuit, you need to take a raincoat. Or vice versa!
So, soon to the airport. A few hours on the plane – and instead of an office, a computer and traffic jams, for several days your life will consist of swimming in the sea, walking around European cities or Thai massages (that’s who’s going where for May!). And since we often pack our bags on the last evening before departure (well, if not on the last night!), It will not be out of place to ask about the latest weather forecast. Maybe there is no point in dragging three pairs of jeans with you? It’s hot there – it’s better to take another pareo! Or vice versa: leave sunscreen at home, and give its place in luggage to an umbrella? So, what is the weather like now in the cities and countries that are popular with our tourists: Finland and Scandinavia. If you are going on a cruise on a ferry across the Baltic Sea or decide to admire the Norwegian fjords, warm up. In the north of Europe, the May days are only +7…+12 degrees. In addition, it is wet, windy and overcast. France, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic. The weather is unlikely to spoil the mood for lovers of walks in the beautiful cities of the Old World. It’s not hot at all in Paris, Prague, Vienna, but it’s quite comfortable for a city break: now +15…+20 degrees, and after May 3 it will get colder to +10…+15. Grab your jacket and umbrella – weather forecasters promise rain throughout Central Europe. Spain, Portugal and Italy. Have you chosen these countries for your May voyage? In any case, you are lucky with the weather – you will enjoy the beauties of Rome, Madrid and Barcelona, or relax on the coast of Tuscany or Valencia … Now in Madrid and Lisbon it is almost +30. But soon, according to forecasts, the temperature will drop. On holidays in the Pyrenees and the Apennines, about +25 degrees, if it rains, it will be small and short-lived. The same weather in Mallorca and Ibiza. In the Canary Islands, perfect weather is promised for all May Day holidays: +24…+26 degrees and sunshine. Greece, Montenegro, Croatia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Cyprus. In the south of Europe and the Balkans in early May, almost summer heat will set in, +22 … +27, in some places up to +30 degrees. Sunny and dry, and hardened people will be able to swim – the water warmed up to +17. United Kingdom. Here on vacation +14…+16 degrees. Rain is expected in the first days of May, so tourists will see the Tower and Westminster in classic English weather. And then for a few days the weather should be dry and sunny. Why not plan a trip out of town, there are plenty of idyllic places around London. Yes, and within the city too – Greenwich, for example, or numerous London parks, where locals love to just lie on the grass … Egypt. They fly to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh for the warm sea and the hot sun. And here the Egyptians will not be deceived, on the thermometers it will be +28 … +32. Israel. On the other side of the Red Sea, in Eilat, the heat will also exceed +30. It’s cooler in Tel Aviv, +26.. .+27. Turkey. Beauty in Antalya, +27…+29and no hint of rain. In Istanbul, the weather is excellent for exploring the amazing metropolis on the banks of the Bosphorus, +20…+25, and also sunny and dry. Cuba. It’s hot in the Caribbean, +29…+33. But rain is possible. Baltic countries. In Riga weather forecasters promise +10…+15 degrees. In Vilnius +15…+20. In Tallinn +11…+13. In any case, there is nothing to do without an umbrella. Tenerife Weather in May – What’s the weather like? Is it hot?
Tenerife in May – what temperatures can you expect? And it is a good month to visit?
May is a good month to visit Tenerife if you are looking for a warm and peaceful holiday before the school year ends. The island starts blooming and the weather is perfect for sunbathing without being too overly hot that you have to hide from the scorching sun.

How is the weather in Tenerife in May
Following the tricky month of April, the weather starts to improve in Tenerife in May. There are far fewer chances of precipitation, especially if you are staying in Tenerife South.
The temperatures in the south of the island easily go up to 25°C during the daytime, but it will feel much hotter as it’s the case in the general in the Canaries due to their position in latitude.
We feel like May can be considered as a summer month in Tenerife, since it is already warm enough on most nights to leave your jacket at home and go out wearing just a T-shirt. Also, the water temperature in May is around 20°C, which means it’s warm enough to swim comfortably.
Tenerife South in May
Tenerife South is still warmer in May compared to the north of the island, although the temperatures start to rise all over the island.
Puerto de la Cruz still has more chances of cloudy weather in May, so if you’re looking for a sunny holiday you should still choose Tenerife South as a base.
On most beaches in the south of Tenerife you can swim all year round, so in May you should have no problem in this regard. We love the beaches in Los Cristianos and Playa La Pinta as well, but as long as you choose a sheltered beach with a breakwater you should be able to go in the water just fine.
Temperatures in Tenerife in May
In the south of the island, the weather already starts to feel like proper summer, but the north can be quite warm as well in May.
The temperatures below are from Tenerife South Airport.
Average high temperature: 23.9°C (75°F)
Average low temperature: 17°C (62.6°F)

What to do in Tenerife in May
As the largest Canary Island, Tenerife offers an array of activities for any kind of traveler.
There are so many things to do in Tenerife that you simply can’t get bored here and we strongly recommend you to go out and explore the natural beauty of the island.
This is why, if we have to pick just one thing that you simply MUST DO in Tenerife in May, this would be:
Go to Las Canadas de Teide in May and see the Tajinaste in bloom!
Tajinaste plant in bloom in Tenerife in Las Canadas de Teide
The Tajinaste Rojo is a flowering plant, endemic to the island of Tenerife and it’s found mainly in the area of Las Canadas.
The flower starts to bloom around the second week of May and it grows up to 3 meters high.
You will see lots of people stopping on the side of the road inside Teide National Park just to take a beautiful photo of the tajinaste plant. If you’re visiting Tenerife in May it would be a shame to miss this special occasion to see the tajinaste in bloom. Once the plant produces its seeds it dies and the beautiful red color goes with it and only the skeleton remains, which can be seen even in winter.
Spend the day at the best water park in Spain
Siam Park is the best water park in Spain!
Siam Park has been voted as the best water park in the world by Tripadvisor users, so it’s fair to say it is the best water park in Spain as well.
Even with no official title, we would still recommend Siam Park in May. During the summer months, the parks get really busy, so May is still a month where you can avoid the big crowds and the weather should be warm enough to enjoy a full day at the park.
Go to Playa de las Teresitas in May
Playa de Las Teresitas, with soft golden sand – near Santa Cruz de Tenerife
Since the weather in May in Tenerife starts to get pretty warm towards the end of the month even in the north of the island, we would recommend you to stay on the lookout for a sunny day and go spend it on the beach of Las Teresitas.
This is one of the most beautiful beaches in Tenerife and the only one with golden sand in the north. Playa Las Teresitas is quite popular with locals during the summer months and in May you have a window of opportunity to enjoy it while it’s still relatively quiet. Once the season for the summer holidays starts, this beach will be packed with locals and tourists as well, so you better head there in May to beat the crowds.
