What’s the weather like in Guia the rest of the year

We’ve collected the weather data for Guia during all other months of the year too:

  • Weather in Guia in January
  • Weather in Guia in February
  • Weather in Guia in March
  • Weather in Guia in April
  • Weather in Guia in May
  • Weather in Guia in June
  • Weather in Guia in July
  • Weather in Guia in August
  • Weather in Guia in September
  • Weather in Guia in November
  • Weather in Guia in December

Where does this data come from

Weather data for Guia was collected from the MERRA-2 project from NASA, which used a climate model combined with historical data from weather stations around the world to estimate what the conditions were like for every point on the Earth.

For all data based on historical data, we’ve averaged the data from the past 11 years (2010-2020). For example, for the hourly temperature at 10am, we’ve looked at the temperature at 10am on every day in October (e.g., October 1, October 2, etc. in 2010, 2011, etc.) and took the arithmetic mean. We did not smooth the data, so for example, our daily temperature line will have some randomness due to the fact that weather is random in the first place.

Spain in October: Spain Travel Guide

While summers in Spain can be unbearably hot, and even the air September can still feel like it’s hanging onto the heat of August, October in Spain is perhaps one of the most pleasant months to visit the country, weather-wise, although as you might expect the later you get in the month the cooler it will be.

The country-wide average temperatures for October (which is kind of a silly number to come up with, really, as the country’s climate varies so widely from one region to another, but I’m just quoting the official Spain tourism website here) are just over 70F (25C) for a high and just over 52F (11C) for a low. Because some of Spain’s most popular cities are absolutely stifling in the height of summer, they’re really best avoided until the shoulder seasons – October is probably the best month to visit cities like Madrid, for instance.

But even though some parts of Spain can get cooler in late October, in some places it’s still totally possible to include lying on the beach in your vacation plans! You’ll need to check with current weather forecasts, but especially if you’re going to the Costa del Sol, you might want to consider bringing your bathing suit with you.

Some average temperatures for Spain in October, listed by city, are:

  • Barcelona – 70F high, 54F low
  • Madrid – 68F high, 46F low
  • Seville – 79F high, 55F low
  • Santiago – 84F high, 48F low
  • Malaga – 73F high, 57F low

The rainfall levels in Spain in October vary by region and city, but the country-wide average is just over 68mm for October. Barcelona, Valencia and Madrid average about 10 rainy days in October, while Seville, Granada and Malaga average only 8. Cities like Santiago and Bilbao average more rainy days, coming in at 18 and 15 respectively.

As for the festivals in October in Spain, the biggest country-wide holiday all month is Spain’s national holiday on October 12, the Dia de la Hispanidad – also known as Columbus Day. This means that lots of things will be closed, including banks and some tourist attractions. If October 12 falls on a Tuesday or a Thursday, some shops may also be closed the Monday before or Friday afterwards as well – check with your hotel or hostel to find out more. Some other holidays and festivals which take place around Spain in October are:

  • Bienal de Flamenco – From mid-September through mid-October, this is a very important flamenco festival in Seville, but it only takes place every two years (in the even years).
  • La Fiesta del Pilar – In Zaragoza on October 12, this is perhaps the biggest festival of the month; it dates back to 40AD and involves parades, music, and dances.
  • Barcelona Film Festivals – During October, Barcelona runs two film festivals – one for erotic films early in the month, and just after that one for gay & lesbian films.
  • Other Film Festivals – October is film festival month in Spain, with festivals in Albacete, Sitges, Valencia, and San Sebastian. The latter is a horror & fantasy film festival.
  • Festival de Otono – From mid-October through early November, Madrid is home to this performing arts festival.

And just in case you happen to be in the Alpujarras mountains in early October, be sure to swing into the town of Cadiar where they mark their Feria de Octubre by replacing all the water in the city’s fountains with wine.

Spain Climate.

When to go to Spain

Home / Europe / Spain / Spain Climate. When to go to Spain

to Spain

Climate: The Spanish climate can be divided into three main types: Mediterranean in the south, continental in the central part and oceanic-Atlantic in the northwest.

In addition to these three main types of climate, Spain also has an alpine climate on the highest peaks of the Pyrenees, while the climate in the Murcia region is rather arid, in the Canary Islands it is subtropical semi-arid.

OCEANIC CLIMATE:

The oceanic climate is characteristic of the north of Spain, often referred to as “Green Spain”, an area characterized by this type of climate extending west from the Pyrenees to the coast of Galicia. The climate is characterized by: relatively mild winters, hot summers, but not stuffy, rains are abundant and distributed throughout the year.

The north and northwest of the country, especially along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, are influenced by the Gulf Stream, due to which the climate is characterized by moderate temperatures, but also high humidity and heavy cloud cover.

Basically oceanic influence causes frequent rains, thick fog along the coast and often cloudy days, autumn is the rainiest time of the year and summer is generally sunny but cooler compared to the rest of Spain.

The temperature differs little day and night, and in different seasons. The farther from the ocean, the less the intensity of rain, which gradually decreases as you move east.

CONTINENTAL CLIMATE:

this type of climate prevails in most of the Iberian Peninsula, on the central Meseta plateau and the basin of the river. Ebro. The climate in these areas is characterized by significant differences between day and night temperatures, as well as between different seasons, irregular and scarce precipitation with an average annual level of 300 mm – 600 mm. In the northern part of the Meseta plateau and the river basin. The Ebro has two more intense rainy seasons from April to June, and then a second season from October to November.

The southern part of the Meseta plateau also has two rainy seasons: the rainiest period is in autumn, and a shorter rainy period usually in March. Meseta and the central regions of Spain have a continental climate with very hot summers, with very high temperatures and dry air, and cold, windy winters, often with frosts. It can rain in spring and autumn. There is a lot of snow in the mountains in winter. In summer, there is a significant difference between day and night temperatures: from 30-40°C during the day to 10°C at night.

Toledo, Spain. Author Marco Ramerini

MEDITERRANEAN CLIMATE:

Spain’s Mediterranean climate stretches along the coast south from the Pyrenees to Andalusia. The Mediterranean is characterized by mild winters, long and dry summers, rainy autumns and magnificent springs. As a rule, a breeze blowing from the sea softens the summer heat, while the extreme southern regions are exposed to a dry wind from North Africa. The average temperature in winter along the coast is about 10-13°C, and in the interior of Andalusia it is several degrees lower. In summer, the average temperature is about 22-27°C on the coast and 29-31°C in the hinterland.

When to go to Spain

The best time to visit Spain is undoubtedly spring and autumn. Spring is the perfect time of year to visit the central regions of Castile, Andalusia, the Mediterranean coast and the Balearic Islands. In summer it is good to visit the northern regions, especially the coast of Cantabria, Galicia and Santiago. Autumn is perhaps the best time of the year to visit the whole country. Wonderful weather, sunny days and blue skies. In winter, the mountain ranges to the north and south provide excellent opportunities for winter sports.

Where does this data come from?

Weather data for Alcudia was collected from the MERRA-2 project from NASA, which used a climate model combined with historical data from weather stations around the world to estimate what the conditions were like for every point on the Earth.

Excursions by car in Mallorca: 6 unusual ideas

Brits love nothing more than a sunny summer holiday to the Balearic Islands. But unlike my fellow English travellers, I first fell in love with a sleepy off-season Ibiza long after the clubs had shut their doors and the crowds had vanished. I followed this with a couple of forrays to the even sleepier and smaller island of Menorca….

A warning has been sent out to Ryanair customers over online check-ins for flights booked in November.

The airline has announced its online check-in process will be down temporarily, which could result in holidaymakers being hit with an unexpected fee. The Ryanair website and app is set to undergo maintenance for an 11-hour period, with the outage starting 6pm on November 8 and ending at 5am on November 9.

Passengers have been told to check in ahead of the maintenance work if they are flying during this period. Ryanair charges customers £55 for failing to check in online if their flight departs in less than two hours, or £30 for flights to Spain.

An announcement on the Irish airline’s website reads: “Due to planned maintenance, Ryanair website / app will be temporarily down from 18.00hrs Tue, 8 – 05.00hrs Wed, 9 Nov. Customers who are due to fly during this 11-hour period should check-in online before 18.00hrs on Tue, 8 Nov.”

A fine over check-ins could leave passengers out of pocket before their holiday even begins. The news comes after a recent report found that two-thirds of Brits admit they were also caught out by ” financial blindspots ” while abroad.

The HSBC UK survey found that one in 10 have made purchases abroad in GBP, which is more expensive than local currencies. On top of this, six in 10 holidaymakers said they incurred fees for cash withdrawals and debit card transactions last time they travelled overseas. One in four Brits were also found to have gone over-budget by between £100-£300 on their holiday this year.

Exploring without the fuss on P&O Cruises Azura around the Canaries, Scotland on Sunday Travel

Stepping onto P&O Cruises’ Azura in Tenerife, my first reaction was one of surprise at the scale.

The Azura sails around the Canary Islands, and can hold around 3,100 passengers. Pic: P&0 Cruises

It was massive, absurd, a shining white behemoth that can hold around 3,100 passengers and still never feel crowded.

My second was of concern, worried that stepping out of Spain’s gorgeous October sun I would find myself locked up on a boat, a captive with hordes of other tourists stuck in a floating tin filled with English sardines.

But what I actually found was a holiday free from the faff of admin, with instead a focus on making sure you have the best time doing whatever you want, with staff focused on making sure you feel like the most important person in the world at all times.

Fancy just lounging around by the pool with a book? You can do that. Want to go on a guided tour or be driven up a mountain? Both work. Fancy exploring on your own without other tourists? You can, and you absolutely should.

Our ship sailed around the Canaries, stopping in Tenerife, Madeira, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote across one week.

Flying direct from Gatwick to Tenerife, the first thing that hits you is the heat, a thickness in the air that frankly I could not believe I was feeling in October. From here it was a short taxi ride across the seafront to the ship, which you can’t miss because it’s bigger than anything you’ve ever seen.

Despite this, much like the Tardis, it’s bigger on the inside, and can feel a bit like you’re going between planets just due to the massive range of facilities on board.

This arch bridge built over the Los Tilos ravine located on the Canary Island of La Palma is the longest and highest arch bridge ever built in Spain. Pic: Shutterstock / KevinN

The Azura has four swimming pools complete with sunbathing areas, a spa, hot tubs, and even a sports court where I managed to throw the basketball in with a backwards shot, because the facilities are not only lovely but helpful for bragging.

One of these naturally comes with an open air cinema, or if that’s too outside for you, there’s the Playhouse theatre for cabaret, magic, comedy and even interactive game shows.

It is overwhelming in the best way, and that’s before we’ve even got to the restaurants, some of which are so good it’s a shame you have to book a cruise to go to them.

Top of the list would be Sindhu, one of the few venues where you have to pay a little extra, offering Indian food and incredible service. We had the chickpea curry and paneer dumplings, followed by a chocolate truffle mousse I was too full to eat, so instead essentially inhaled it. It was brilliant, and along with the fine dining restaurant The Epicurean, represented some of the best food available on the ship.

Guests can take a ferry to the beach for swims and kayaking. La Graciosa beach Lanzarote. Pic: P&O

On top of this there are more traditional restaurants and a buffet included, albeit with food that is more about sustenance. But when you can have as much as you want, there is something comforting about piling a plate up after a long hard day of lounging.

Not that you’re stuck on the boat, with off-shore activities available at every location, ranging from jet skis to wine tasting, beach days to hikes, to bike tours and cruises.

In Tenerife, we elected to travel to Mount Teide, a volcano representing the highest point in Spain at 3,715m. Stopping off for pictures at view spots or at quaint cafes for pastries, it offered incredible sights and a complete change of scenery from the lush greenery you see elsewhere on the island.

While piling into the bus can seem a bit too much like organised fun, travelling like this was the only way we could have reached it, beyond hiring a car, and was a real treat.

Madeira is full of cobbled streets, small squares and little restaurants packed with locals. Pic: P&O

The real highlight though was in Lanzarote, where we signed up for a cruise which took us to a remote beach where we could swim, kayak and sunbathe to our hearts content.

Our generous hosts then let us swim out to the boat, though a water taxi was available, for a paella lunch at sea with some beers. Jumping into the sea straight from the ship, one guest told me it was “what holidays are all about”, and she’d already booked to come back next year.

It was striking how many people felt this way and many they do these regularly so there is a community around them, and it’s a great way to socialise and make friends.

If you’re less inclined to do that, going off on your own is also an option, which is what we did in Madeira, best known for hosting the Christiano Ronaldo museum. More excitingly however, it just feels like a vibrant European city, with cobbled streets, small squares where a beer is a euro, and little restaurants packed with locals. It was at one of these where I tried the local delicacy, a black scabbard fish sandwich which was so utterly brilliant I will think about it for the rest of my life.

We also ventured out in Gran Canaria, enjoying cocktails by the sea, in-between swimming in it. Being able to live like that at any time is a joy, let alone during winter.

None of this would matter of course if our base was not nice, but our balcony room was a delight. Finding a bottle of champagne and chocolates on arriving, we spent days sitting on the balcony reading next to the endless sea, or playing chess until we were too drunk to cope with losing.

It was special, truly special, with lots of wonderful moments packed into one holiday purely because they make it so easy. I have always put a lot of effort into my holidays, spending hours scouring articles about where to go, trawling flight comparison sites, and looking up places to stay on a map so I don’t accidentally end up in the wrong place. Did you know there was a Bruges in France? Because I did only after falling in love with an airbnb not in Belgium. I’d do the same with restaurants and sites, making a google maps list of all the places I wanted to visit, knowing inevitably I would fail. With P&O Cruises, you get all this time back, the concerns over what to see and what to do dissipate. Instead of picking one country for a long time, like tapas you get smaller samples of a lot of them, and it’s all the more filling because of it.

Prices at P&O Cruises aboard the Azura, Canarie, starting from £499 for seven nights with food included.

The Top Ten Best Holiday Destinations In October

As the nights are beginning to draw closer and the weather starts to take a turn for the worse, it can really put a downer on your mood. If you hate the idea of shivering and turning the heating up full blast then we think it’s time you booked yourself some autumnal sun to break up those chilly nights – don’t you? If you’re not too sure where it is that you want to jet off too, take a look at our top ten October holiday destinations below.

    Tenerife

The perfect place for affordable winter sun that’s only four hours away from home. If you fancy some peace and quiet then head to the delightfully stunning town of Los Cristianos on the southwest coast or choose the tourist haven that is Playas De Las Amèricas, which has six beaches and a lively nightlife scene. Indulge yourself with one of the many activities that the island has to offer such as scuba diving, horse riding, swimming and much more. But if you simply want to chill by the pool with a good book then the gorgeous weather will certainly let you do just that. For a holiday that offers it all, Tenerife is the one.

    Rome

If you’re looking for a city break that is still lovely and warm, then this is the one for you. October is one of the most beautiful times of years for Rome, where the evening light casts warm shadows across the city’s beautiful architecture.

Many of the schools across Europe have broken up around the third week of October so if you’re thinking of heading to Rome around that time then expect it to be a bit busy. However, in the Italian capital busy is normal; there’s an enticing buzz about it, the cafes and restaurants are in full swing and the atmosphere is both comforting and welcoming.

    Lanzarote

With its gorgeous beaches, this lively Canary Island is packed full of things to keep you happy and entertained whilst you’re there. It’s great for families, couples who want to explore the secluded quiet areas or a large group of friends who want to take full advantage of its nightlife.

Shop till you drop at the Teguise market or head to chilled out Playa De Los Pocillos and shut off from the outside world. If you hire a car you can drive to one end of the island to the other very easily. Lanzarote is a great destination for a late beach holiday.

    Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands

For a slightly more unusual holiday off the beaten track, how about visiting Ecuador and  Galapagos Islands in October? It’s the perfect time of year to go as the temperatures start to creep up after a cooler August and September and the end of the ‘garua season’ – otherwise known as mist season – draws near. This is where the mist covering the tops of the highland areas begins to break up, increasing the visibility and making some amazing sunrises over the volcanoes. Tourists can witness the stunning landscape at its finest.

There is still a lot of marine activity in October because the Antarctic Humbolt current is at its strongest during this month – so there are a lot of tropical fish to see and birds to spot.

    Turkey

For another nearby holiday destination prioritising plenty of sun, Turkey is the perfect place. There are so many different activities on offer here – you can spend your time checking out striking architecture like the Blue Mosque, or look round the Roman ruins across the island.  Spend your days soaking up the atmosphere and lazing around on the white sands while looking out to the sea. There is a spot in Turkey to suit any holiday maker: Dalaman, Antalya, Marmaris, Oludeniz and Bodrum are all fantastic destinations.

    Mauritius

Mauritius is an island just off the southeast coast of Africa, approximately 900km from Madagascar in the Indian Ocean, meaning you will experience lots of blissful tropical weather. There is no better pairing than white sand and crystal clear waters which Mauritius has to offer in abundance. Search the reefs for parrotfish, clown fish, and trumpet fish. You might even spot some sea turtles and dolphins. The west coast is home to some of the best diving sites and exotic marine life so be sure to get your flippers and snorkels out! Go and explore the exotic flowers and wildlife that are blooming during October as it’s spring time over there.

    Las Vegas

Now, Las Vegas could be a bit chillier in October so there are more reliable places to go to in terms of sun, but a holiday here is never completely about the weather. The vibe in Vegas is truly spectacular. Full of charismatic casinos, fancy hotels and great bars, the weather really won’t matter to you. But it will still be warm enough to wear light clothing, especially during the daytime when the temperatures are at their highest. Las Vegas is one of the most exciting cities in the world – you certainly won’t be bored when you’re there. Do some shopping or check out the many tourist attractions that it has to offer such as the High Roller and Stratosphere Tower. Or go for a hike around the Red Rock Canyon. The possibilities in Vegas are endless.

    Algarve, Portugal

Although the autumn rain tends to pick up towards the end of October because of the Algarve’s location it is still a great time to visit as the weather is still so warm. If you’re someone who prefers the thinner crowds as well, then this is perfect for you. It’s been said that some of the best months in the Algarve are the ones out of peak summer season.

Head down to one of the outdoor restaurants, take a walk down to the beach or take part in some water sports that are available. If you’re a fan of exploring then you’ll love it here, and with it being slightly cooler in October it’s the best time to take a look around the region. There are gorgeous castles atop hills to be uncovered, green countryside full of wild flowers and plenty of wildlife to admire from afar.

    Brazil

Brazilian beaches are spectacular but the best ones are on the northeast coastline of Ceara and Bahia. It’s not hard to find what attracts people to this place at all with its palm fringe beaches and lovely little villages. If you’re into any kind of surfing, from windsurfing to kitesurfing, you must check out Jericoacoara which has 30-knot winds from July to December. Browse the romantic backstreets stocked with boutique hotels and gourmet restaurants. Explore the historic missions of Rio Grande do Sul. Go hang gliding over the whole of Rio, giving you a bird’s-eye view over the city and the forest. Or explore the wildlife in the Pantanal, home to big cats, reptiles and exotic birds.

    Crete, Greece

October is one of the best months to visit Crete as it’s not blistering hot like the summer months, making it bearable to go out and do things. It’s the perfect opportunity to visit some of the archaeological sites like Knossos, Aptera or the Minoan Palace as there won’t be as many visitors compared to the summer months. The Samaria Gorge closes to the public at the end of October so it is your last chance to hike this famous attraction till early May when it will re-open. If you are there towards the end of October, you will see the parades and commemorations of Oxi Day – or Ohi Day – on 28 October.

water temperature, weather, holidays and attractions

Morocco is a country of colorful houses and an “oriental fairy tale” that lurks around every corner. An exotic African country with completely unexplored traditions, tourists visit not only in the summer, but also in October. What is interesting to see in Morocco and what are the advantages of traveling in autumn?

    Weather

Various tour operators vying with each other offer travelers tours to this kingdom, and there are many reviews on the sites from those who have already been there. What does a tourist who is going to visit Morocco in October need to know? nine0003

A bright and very pleasant bonus of visiting Morocco in autumn is the weather and temperature regime. The shores of the Islamic kingdom, located in the northern part of Africa , are washed by the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. It is these reservoirs that play a significant role in the formation of weather conditions in the coastal part of Morocco. Resorts located on the Mediterranean coast have a mild, pronounced climate of the classic subtropics, but the Atlantic coast will endow the visitor in October with coolness and significant temperature changes day and night. nine0003

Since the kingdom of Morocco has low, in terms of global scale, the Atlas mountains, the climate of the mountainous regions also differs significantly from the flat areas. In winter, you can go skiing or do other classic winter sports in the mountains.

Morocco is rich in various resorts, hotels and tourist areas. The most visited cities among travelers are:

    • Marrakesh (October 29 during the day and 20 at night),
    • nine0186 Rabat (28/19),

    • Casablanca (27/20),
    • Agadir (29/21),
    • Mohammedia (27/20),
    • Essaouira (26/20),
    • El Jadida (26/20),
    • Tangier (25/17 degrees).

    Water temperature

The most “bathing” city is Tangier, located on the coast of the Strait of Gibraltar. During the day the air warms up to 25 degrees , the water temperature is 22 warm degrees. Tourists vacationing on the beaches of Tangier write in reviews that although the water is not “fresh milk”, it is quite comfortable to swim. nine0003

It is warm during the daytime in October in such cities of the kingdom located on the Atlantic coast as Rabat, Casablanca and Agadir. However, swimming, according to tourists, is pretty cool, the water temperature in this part of Morocco in October does not exceed 20 degrees.

Do not forget that at this time of the year it rains in the Islamic kingdom. Although the rate of precipitation here is not the same as in the regions of Russia in autumn, however, when going to Morocco for a vacation, you should still take this into account. nine0003

Weather forecast for water temperature in some beach towns Morocco in October is as follows. So, the temperature indicator of water at this time is:

    • Agadir +21 warm degrees,
    • Casablanca +19,
    • Tangier + 22,
    • Essaouira + 26.

Why is Morocco worth visiting in October?

The influx of tourists in October in Morocco is reduced, mainly lovers of more extreme water recreation, namely surfers, come here at this time of the year. The secret capital of this species water sports in the kingdom is Essaouira. A massive influx of surfers is especially observed on weekends. Basically, residents of Italy and France come to “catch the wave” and take a break from everyday bustle on Saturday and Sunday. When traveling to Morocco specifically for the weekend, it is worth remembering this feature and taking into account that in this case it will be difficult to find a suitable hotel and book a room in it.

October Morocco also attracts tourists who like to actively travel around the country and attend various excursions and outings. For lovers of authenticity and Preservation of national traditions a tour to the harvest festival “Date Festival”, held in the city of Eyfud, is suitable. The city is remote from popular tourist routes and is located almost on the very border with the Sahara Desert. The folklore festival is also held in the city of Marrakesh, which most tourists mistakenly consider the capital of Morocco.

A scenic and unforgettable trip to the village of Imuzzer with white houses and the Garden of Eden. The village is located on the territory of the natural park-reserve Du Paradis. A visitor to the village will have the opportunity not only to admire the beauties of the local nature, but also to taste Moroccan honey, as the locals have been engaged in beekeeping and keeping belts since time immemorial. nine0003

You can also visit the Massa nature reserve, located on the lake, which was formed as a result of the construction of the dam. The excursion to the village of Tafraout, which is located at the foot of the mountains Anti-Atlas, also deserved positive feedback from tourists. Natural formations from rocks here are very unusual, one might even say Martian, in shape. Among travelers there will always be those who want to take a photo against the backdrop of this natural attraction.

Mysterious Marrakech and other cities of the country

Marrakesh enjoys special attention and high demand among tourists discovering the kingdom of Morocco. The city itself is very unique, it smells like a real oriental fairy tale. Note that it was in this African city that the events described in the fairy tale “Aladdin”, so successfully filmed by Walt Disney, once developed.

Having walked a lot along the picturesque streets of Marrakech, tourists go either to the Kik plateau in the Atlas Mountains, or to the Ourika valley , inhabited by the indigenous Berber tribe. Also, travelers in the reviews are advised to visit the picturesque Ouzoud waterfall.

Excursion tours to the ancient pearl of the Sousse valley, the city of Taroudant, are popular. The entire territory of the attraction is surrounded by a high centuries-old stone wall. Local residents of the city of are engaged in handicrafts characteristic of the inhabitants of Morocco. Oriental shops and bazaars are replete with masterpieces of their manual labor, which can be purchased freely.

Connoisseurs of Morocco recommend visiting the city of Fes. The ancient settlement is really mesmerizing and, as described in many reviews, soothing. There is no usual fuss in the city, life flows measuredly and calmly.

For those who are not satisfied with the day life of the kingdom, there is no less vibrant and fascinating night life. With the onset of twilight, a pleasant coolness descends on the African lands of Morocco, and night lights are lit. Since most of the population, and is exactly 98% of local residents profess Islam, then this way of life extends to most of the state. However, you should not think that life here is finally fading; hotels have discos and bars with restaurants that serve around the clock. However, especially lovers of nightlife liked Marrakesh and Casablanca.

What do people celebrate in Morocco in October?

There are not so many official holidays in Morocco, especially those that fall precisely on October. Since most local holidays do not have of a well-defined date , then the Eastern New Year, which here is called Fatih Muharram, may also fall on the tenth month of the year. In the city of Tisza, located a few tens of kilometers from Fes, during this period, an equestrian festival is held, where the Berbers demonstrate their skills. If you’re lucky, in Fez itself you can get to the culinary festival, which, however, is not held every year.

    Instead of an afterword

If you are going to visit the Kingdom of Morocco, you should not forget that this is an Islamic state. Tourists in the reviews note that there, of course, it is not as strict as in Saudi Arabia, but Tunisia is not permissive either. Morocco is a calm country where the authorities are doing their best to to provide comfort and peace precisely to tourists, sometimes even turning a blind eye to minor misconduct of the country’s guests. However, despite this, during the Muslim holiday of Ramadan, even guests are forbidden to consume alcoholic beverages.

October is a great “velvet” month to visit the fabulous kingdom of Morocco. It is possible that a tour to this country will help the traveler to find oriental slowness and discover his Arabian fairy tale.

In November, for the nearest coastal location, the temperature of the sea averages around 19°C, that’s 66° Fahrenheit. Our index indicates for swimming this is considered relatively cool and though enjoyed by the more hardy among us, any more than 10-20 minutes in the sea would leave you feeling refreshed to say the least.

In the 2000s, a stream of Russian tourists poured into Spain. Inspired by the Spanish warm climate and seascapes, the Russians invested in local real estate, and eventually received a residence permit and remained to live near the Mediterranean Sea.

The largest Russian diaspora in Spain has formed in Torrevieja. Because of this, the city began to be called the “Russian capital” of the country. Russian speech in Torrevieja can be heard everywhere: on the streets, in shops, medical centers, restaurants, beauty salons. There are Russian-language schools, radio and television.

“I don’t know how, but everyone understands what you need. And sometimes in a bank you don’t understand something, and a person stands in line behind and translates in Russian. Everyone helps each other, no matter where you turn, – says our client Veronika. We helped her and her husband move to Torrevieja.

The couple’s neighbors turned out to be several Russian-speaking families, among which there were even their countrymen from the Samara region.

Attractions of Torrevieja and its environs

In the 19th century, the watchtower was the main object of the city, from which the name Torrevieja (Spanish: Torre Vieja – old tower) came from. Over time, it collapsed, but the inhabitants of Torrevieja built a new one so as not to lose their historical roots. Tower Torre del Moro is the symbol of the city, which is proudly shown to tourists.

Parque de Las Naciones is a great place to walk. There is a lot of greenery on the territory of 20 thousand square meters, and ponds and fountains give coolness in the summer heat. A playground is equipped for children. The park is dedicated to the nations of Europe and is decorated with flags of different countries. One of its lakes follows the shape of the European continent.

On the outskirts of Torrevieja there are Aquapolis water park (El parque acuático Aquopolis). 15 water attractions for children and adults are at guests’ disposal. Visitors are entertained by animators.

Fans of museum expositions should pay attention to Museum of the Sea and Salt (Museo del Mar y de la Sal) . Its exhibits tell about the important industry of the city – the extraction of table salt. Torrevieja is the largest supplier of this product in Europe. Another interesting museum is located in a submarine (Museo flotante submarino S-61 Delfín). It gives an opportunity to look into the world of submariners – how they live and work on submarines.

A walk through Parque Aromatico is as good as an aromatherapy session. Dozens of species of fragrant plants grow here: lavender, basil, thyme, rosemary. An avant-garde-style ecological park of 70 thousand square meters in Torrevieja was created by the Catalan architect Carmen Pinos.

Enjoy fantastic views and improve your health at the pink lake of Torrevieja (Laguna Salada de Torrevieja). Thanks to a special type of microalgae, at different times of the year and even days, the color of the reservoir changes from pale pink to deep crimson.

The water and mud in this lake are similar in healing properties to the Dead Sea, and the air around it is saturated with beneficial ions. On the shore you can meet pink flamingos.

The pink lake of Torrevieja is located in the area of the Las Lagunas de La Mata nature reserve. Swimming is allowed only in specially designated areas, otherwise you can get a fine

For those who have explored all the interesting places in Torrevieja, we suggest looking outside the city. For example, go on an excursion to the nearest major cities – Alicante and Murcia. Very close to the ancient city Cartagena , whose cozy streets remember the times of the Roman Empire. The remains of an ancient amphitheater built in the 1st century BC have been preserved there.

The climate of Minorca (or Menorca), the north-easternmost of the Balearic Islands, is Mediterranean, with mild, relatively rainy winters and hot, sunny summers, which are a bit sultry but tempered by sea breezes.

Owing to the north wind (“Tramontana”) that blows from France, Minorca is pretty windy, especially from October to April. Actually, since it lies directly to the south of the Gulf of Lion, it is the windiest of the Balearic Islands.

At the Mahón Airport, the average temperature ranges from 11 °C (52 °F) in January and February to 25.5 °C (78 °F) in August. Here are the average temperatures.

Travel Weather – Around the Mediterranean and Canaries for an October break

    10 Day Forecast

    Weather Radar

    Lightning Detector

    Jet Stream

Mediterranean travel at this time of year can be viewed as a late opportunity to get away, hopefully having a great break with some warm sunshine. Any travel still seems beset with challenges such as transport disruption from strikes, staffing issues or engineering. If you manage to avoid COVID, there is mixed autumn weather. That might be the UK weather or what ever is happening at your destination. Will there be a disruptive storm? If you are really looking forward to a trip or need to get back on time, these autumnal low pressures add in an extra gamble. Generally, at this time of year, the Jetstream strengthens and it influences the movement of regions of low pressure. Autumn sees northern parts of Europe with deeper low pressures as high pressure settles the weather down for central and southern Europe.

    This week UK

To start the week the forecast models had been showing a deep low pressure affecting Ireland and Scotland. This signal is weaker now but there could still be some travel disruption later this week. For the Scottish Islands and maybe through the Central Belt, for ferry services, on the railways, road bridges and maybe for flights depending on where is affected by strong winds in the far north. It would be early Friday and possibly early Saturday.

    Europe

These deep low pressures can throw cold fronts right down through western and central Europe. This brings heavy rain for a time, falling temperatures and can bring strong gusty winds too. Other setups through the Mediterranean can lead to persistent rain or heavy thundery showers. Sometimes the Jetstream creates a large deep meander over western Europe and a surface cut-off low lingers over Portugal and Spain bringing unsettled showery weather.

The province of Barcelona has seen heavy thundery showers and a carpet of hail at the weekend. Roads around Berga to the north of Barcelona city turned white, as did some of the higher routes up into the National Park hills. The main road to Barcelona saw delays and icy conditions as the thundery downpours and hailstorm moved by.

Eastern Spain continued with yellow warnings for thunderstorms and heavy rain on Monday.  Barcelona will see temperatures creeping up day by day in the twenties Celsius although the risk of a heavy showers returns by Sunday.

Alicante and Benidorm see an unsettled start to the week but if you are flying off to the Costa Blanca the end of the week looks fine and warmer, up to 27C

The Algarve has also seen a few showers about to start this week but will see more settled, sunny weather this weekend. It will also feel very warm with temperatures in the high 20s C.

Gibraltar has seen the Levanter over recent days with the tell-tale cap cloud hanging off The Rock. The Levanter is a moist easterly wind. It can be drier if from the southeast but still moist from the northeast. It brings higher humidity to the upper west side of town. The easterly Levanter continues all week with temperatures around 23C

Small low centres or troughs can bring a spell of heavy showers or a few days of unsettled disappointing downpours to southern Europe.

Monday 10th October saw orange warnings for Thunderstorms over Sicily and the far south of Italy. Also, over the southern coastal areas of Croatia including Dubrovnik. This threat continues for Tuesday around the southern Adriatic Sea, the Balkans and mainland Greece with the risk of heavy rain, hail and lightning. After this disturbed spell to start the week, the weather should improve with sunshine and temperatures of 23C by the weekend.

Venice looks fair, sometimes with more cloud, other days fine and bright with temperatures around 20C

Another little low develops in the central Med between southern Sardinia and Algeria which will bring more thundery showers. By Thursday, this moves over closer to Sicily and southern Italy.

A frontal boundary from central Europe will bring unsettled weather down through the Adriatic Sea and over the Balkans. Again, showers for the Dalmatian coast. This heads across Athens, the Aegean Sea to Crete, Rhodes, more of the Greek Islands and SW Turkey by the start of the weekend. The showery weather could reach Cyprus and more of Turkey through the weekend.

There has been a fair amount of lifted dust over Spain and Portugal. This African desert dust has also reached southern France. This has been seen on cars and surfaces, deposited after dusty rain and there looks to be another bout at the weekend, reaching Madrid, the Costas and the Balearic Islands.

The Canary Islands has also seen dust and unsettled weather. There will be more blustery showers this week with a moderate north wind flowing around the Azores high. Temperatures will still be in the mid-20s Celsius with mild evenings. Lanzarote looks fine by this weekend

Hopefully, all your travel plans will go smoothly and there’ll be some fine weather and sunshine to be found by those on holiday. It will soon be half term.

    Weather Glossary – an introduction

October Weather forecast – Autumn forecast

October, like September, in Canaries, Saint Lucia, is another warm autumn month, with an average temperature fluctuating between 29.8°C (85.6°F) and 27.2°C (81°F).

    Temperature

In Canaries, the average high-temperature in October is almost the same as in September – a moderately hot 29.8°C (85.6°F). In October, the average low-temperature is 27.2°C (81°F).

    Heat index

In October, the average heat index is estimated at a torrid 36°C (96.8°F). Take special precautions – heat exhaustion and heat cramps are expected. Heatstroke may occur with lengthy activity.
Take into consideration that the heat index values are calculated for shade and light wind conditions. Exposure to direct sunshine can increase heat index values by up to 15 Fahrenheit (8 Celsius) degrees.
Note: The heat index, also known as ‘feels like’, ‘apparent temperature’, ‘real feel’, or ‘felt air temperature’, is a measure that combines air temperature and relative humidity into a single value that indicates how hot the weather feels. Additional factors like activity, metabolic differences, clothing, and pregnancy affect individual temperature impact. Bear in mind that direct sunshine exposure increases weather impact, and may raise heat index by up to 15 Fahrenheit (8 Celsius) degrees. Heat index values are particularly important for children. Children are often less aware of the need to rest and re-hydrate. Thirst is a late sign of dehydration – it is vital to remain hydrated, particularly during prolonged physical activities.
The human body normally cools itself by perspiration, as evaporated sweat carries heat away from the body. High relative humidity reduces the evaporation rate, resulting in a lower heat removal rate from the body, causing the perception of being overheated. When heat gain surpasses the level the body can shed, body temperature begins to increase, and consequently, overheating and dehydration can occur, with varying severity.

    Humidity

The average relative humidity in October in Canaries is 74%.

    Rainfall

In October, in Canaries, the rain falls for 21 days. Throughout October, 69mm (2.72″) of precipitation is accumulated. Throughout the year, in Canaries, there are 255.2 rainfall days, and 560mm (22.05″) of precipitation is accumulated.

    Sea temperature

In October, the average sea temperature in Canaries is 29.2°C (84.6°F).
Note: Water temperature between 25°C (77°F) and 29°C (84.2°F) is regarded as very warm and enjoyable by all. With these temperatures, water activities are pleasurable, without feeling uncomfortable for prolonged periods.

    Daylight

In Canaries, the average length of the day in October is 11h and 49min.
On the first day of October, sunrise is at 05:53 and sunset at 17:54. On the last day of the month, sunrise is at 05:58 and sunset at 17:37 AST.

    Sunshine

In Canaries, the average sunshine in October is 8.1h.

    UV index

January through May, July through December, with an average maximum UV index of 7, are months with the highest UV index in Canaries, Saint Lucia. A UV Index reading of 6 to 7 represents a high threat to health from unsafe exposure to UV radiation for the ordinary person.
Note: The daily maximum UV index of 7 in October interpret into the following advice:
Take precautions and adopt sun safety practices. Protection against sunburn is obliged. The Sun’s UV radiation is most powerful between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. To the extent possible, limit exposure to the direct sun during these hours. A wide-brim hat offers excellent sun protection for the eyes, ears, face, and neck. Sunglasses with UVA and UVB protection significantly reduce eye damage from sun exposure. Tightly woven, loose-fitting clothes provide additional protection from the Sun. Beware! The reflection of water and sand dramatically increases exposure to the UV rays.

    Forget-me-not – Spark No. 24 (5102) dated 10/26/2009

    1 minute.

Halloween – All Saints’ Eve – is celebrated from October 31st to November 1st. The main attributes of this holiday are costumes, masks and, of course, a pumpkin glowing from the inside, which is placed on the windowsill to scare away evil spirits. If you make such a Jack-o-lantern yourself, remember that the thickness of the peel should be about 1 cm. And if the pumpkin shrinks over time, it must be soaked overnight in water.

Vegans – strict vegetarians who do not use animal products in their diet and life – celebrate International Vegan Day on Sunday (November 1). Vegan exclusions include not only meat, poultry and fish, but also eggs and dairy products, as they are derived from animal exploitation. Some vegans refuse to use honey for the same reason – it’s a pity for the bees.

Cheese is worth a try, unless you are a vegan, in Barnaul at the International Cheese Festival on October 27th and 28th. The festival will feature cheese sculptures and a huge picture of hundreds of children’s drawings dedicated to this highly nutritious product. By the way, according to scientists, cheese relieves insomnia – it contains the amino acid tryptophan, which helps relieve stress and improves sleep.

Canaries and other birds will be presented at the autumn exhibition of songbirds in Moscow, in the “Gallery on Peschanaya” from October 24 to November 8. During the exhibition, not only lectures by ornithologists will be held, at which, for example, “issues of evaluating the singing of the Russian canary” will be discussed, everyone will also be able to get advice on caring for birds, acquire the necessary equipment, literature and feed.

The climate of Seville, the capital of Andalusia, can be defined as Mediterranean, but owing to the scorching summer, it almost seems an African city. In fact, together with the nearby city of Córdoba, during summer, Seville is the hottest city, not only in Spain but throughout Europe.

The city is located in the southwest of Spain, 65 km (40 mi) away from the coast of the Atlantic Ocean.

The average temperature of the coldest month (January) is of 11 °C (52 °F), that of the warmest month (August) is of 28.5 °C (83 °F). Here are the average temperatures.

Winter, from December to February, is mild.

There are many sunny days, in which the air is mild during the day, but quite cold at night. Also, in periods of good weather, fog can form at night and in the early morning.

However, there are also periods of bad weather, with wind and rain.

Very cold days are rare, however, on the coldest nights of the year, the temperature generally drops to freezing or nearly so.

The cold record is -5.5 °C (22 °F) and was recorded in January 1945 and February 1956. After the year 2000, the temperature dropped to -5 °C (23 °F) in January 2005 and to -2 °C (28.5 °F) in February 2012. However, even during the coldest days, it is very rare for the maximum to remain below 10 °C (50 °F).

Snow in Seville is extremely rare. The last time that the city was covered in a white blanket was in February 1954. More recently, in January 2010, it snowed but the city did not get white.

Spring is a bit unstable in March and at times in April, with windy days, and sometimes rainy, but it’s often mild and sunny, and becomes gradually more stable and soon hot as well, before the rest of Europe. Already in April, daytime temperatures often approach 30 °C (86 °F). In May, the first very hot days can occur, especially in the second half of the month.

Summer, from June to mid-September, is very hot and sunny, with very rare rains.
Highs are usually about 36 °C (97 °F) in July and August, however, there are periods of scorching heat. On the hottest days of the year, the temperature normally reaches 42/43 °C (107/109 °F).

Although the temperature officially reached 51 °C (124 °F) in 1876, the record of the post-war era, whose data are more reliable, is 46.5 °C (115.5 °F), recorded in July 1995. After the year 2000, the temperature reached 46 °C (115 °F) in August 2012. In 2015, it reached 41 °C (106 °F) as early as in May, and in 2016, 45 °C (113 °F) in early September.

As mentioned, the sea is not far away, and fortunately a bit of breeze manages to arrive here. In addittion, on the hottest days the humidity is low, and the daily temperature range is considerable, so much so that nights almost always bring a bit of relief.

Autumn, from mid-September to November, is initially hot and sunny: still in October, especially in the first part, the temperature often reaches 30 °C (86 °F). But in this season the first rains begin to fall.

The amount of sunshine in Seville is great in summer, when clear skies prevail, it is good in spring, especially from mid-April onwards, and it is still fairly good in autumn and winter, when there is a moderate amount of cloudy days, during periods of bad weather, but there are also sunny periods.

In one year, there are 2,900 hours of sunshine. Here are the average sunshine hours per day.

On the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, called Costa de la Luz, southwest of Seville, the sea is very cool even in summer, in fact the water temperature reaches a maximum of 22 °C (72 °F) from July to September. The sea creates a mild microclimate, so much so that even when in Seville it’s hot, on the coast the temperature is much lower, and there’s a cool breeze from the sea.

Here are the average sea temperatures (near Huelva).

    Best Time

The best months to visit Seville are April, May and October, to avoid both the summer heat and the winter rains, although sometimes it can rain also in these months. Those who can stand the heat can also choose the summer, however, they have to be ready for the likely scorching heat.

In winter, you can find many pleasant days, sunny and spring-like, although it can get cold at night, and waves of bad weather cannot be excluded.

Where is the hottest place in Spain?

Andalusia is the hottest area, not just in Spain but in the whole of Europe. The autonomous region boasts cities like Seville and Cordoba average above 36C in the summer.

Seville is the hottest city in Spain, with an annual average temperature of 19C. Each year there are multiple days where they heat rises above 40C.

The city’s annual average is 25.4C in the daytime, while it drops to just 13C at night.

However, in the summer months of May and June, Madrid can push a few degrees above Seville, if only briefly.

What is the hottest temperature in Spain?

Seville has a disputed historical record high of 50C, but this was back in 1881 and pre-dates modern recording methods.

The highest official temperature record was reported in August 2021, when the Andalusian city, Montoro, which reached 47.4C.

Seville and Cordoba regularly see temperatures above 35C in the height of summer when Spain’s temperatures hit their peak.

Sometimes inland areas like Madrid can push hotter in these months because they lack the cooling coastal breezes.

rest and weather in Costa Dorada (Spain)

On the “Gold Coast” of Spain is not a golden autumn at all. October is painted in green and blue hues, the skirts of beauties circling in the rhythm of flamenco flicker with bright spots, and the sky now and then lights up with colorful flashes of fireworks. And if in other European countries at this time the autumn rainy season begins, in Spain summer is still going on.

If you are in doubt about whether it is worth coming to the Costa Dorada in the middle of autumn, the answer is definitely worth it! And Kidpassage in his article will tell you more about the pros and cons of a trip at this time. Despite the slight vagaries of the weather, October is a great time to visit this Spanish resort.

Holidays in the Costa Dorada in October: advantages and disadvantages of the resort

Basically, tourists leave only positive reviews on the Internet about holidays in the Costa Dorada in October. However, the impressions of visiting the resort cannot be different, because it is very difficult to single out any cons holidays in this period of time. But advantages, on the contrary, are quite a lot, let’s name only the main advantages:

    • Weather conditions. In the middle of autumn it is still warm and sunny. Compared to September, the temperature drops by an average of only 5 degrees. Especially warm in the first half of the month.
    • Sea. The water is already invigorating, but still suitable for swimming. True, the first decade of October is more suitable for family holidays, since by the end of the month the sea temperature becomes lower.
    • Seasonal fruits and vegetables. Local fertile lands delight visitors with a rich harvest. Zucchini and broccoli, citruses and figs – there are healthy products for every taste.
    • Not crowded. The high tourist season is over, students and schoolchildren have left, so the “Gold Coast” has become much more spacious.
    • Reduced prices. Together with temperature marks below steel and prices for rest. Tourists have a chance to relax not only comfortably, but also on a budget.
    • Opportunity to visit water parks and entertainment centers (in particular, the legendary “Port Aventura” in Salou), which are closed from November.

However, holidays in the Costa Dorada in October have some disadvantages . So, the weather sometimes brings surprises in the form of clouds and rains. Moreover, this happens abruptly – half an hour ago the sun was shining in the sky, and now it has become cloudy and gray. However, in fairness it should be noted that this happens infrequently.

Another disadvantage is the temperature of the water in the sea. In mid-autumn, the beach season comes to an end. At the beginning of October, the water is still warm, although it no longer resembles fresh milk, but at the end of the month, swimming is no longer very comfortable.

Weather in Costa Dorada in October

Despite the rather high air temperature, it becomes clear that summer is behind us. The weather in the Costa Dorada in October – November is less stable than it was before. Sometimes there are drizzling rains, there are more cloudy days.

The weather in early October creates the best conditions for relaxation, because during this period the thermometer reaches the highest levels of the month. The rays of the October sun give tourists a beautiful bronze tan, but do not forget to protect your skin and neglect creams.

The temperature in the Costa Dorada gradually drops in mid-October, but generally favors long walks in the fresh air. This time is perfect for sightseeing holidays, because the length of daylight hours is 10.5–11.8 hours, and it rains very rarely.

The weather in the Costa Dorada at the end of October is quite capricious and unpredictable. For those who have purchased a tour for the last ten days of the month, we recommend taking an umbrella with you.

October is the perfect time for those who can’t stand extreme heat and are calm about invigorating sea water. Despite the fact that the thermometer drops several marks lower, in the middle of autumn, tourists still have access to a beach holiday, and sightseeing becomes only more comfortable compared to the summer period.

Even those who do not like to swim in the sea come here just to soak up the sun on a sun lounger. In every resort town there are comfortable beaches, many of them even awarded the Blue Flag for excellent conditions and good ecology.

    Cunit (Tarragona)

The beach area is 2 km long and consists of seven mini beaches separated by breakwaters. It is quite shallow here, so Kunit is suitable for families with children. The infrastructure is well developed on the beach, sun loungers and umbrellas are rented, showers and changing rooms are equipped. Young people love this place for its many attractions, such as catamaran rides, water sports, etc.

    Playa Larga (Salou)

In the most popular city of the Costa Dorada – Salou – there are many good beaches, one of them is “Playa Larga”. The territory is located in the center of the resort and is surrounded by a pine forest. The sandy beach is well suited for family holidays: it is well equipped, there are various entertainments (catamarans, water skiing, etc. ), the water in the sea is clean and clear. Additional pluses are a beautiful landscape and clean air with the scent of pine needles.

    Playa de Vilafortuny (Cambrils)

Another great family holiday destination. A clean coastline, a gentle entrance to the water, a playground – what else do kids need? The infrastructure of Playa de Vilafortuny is well developed; for the convenience of visitors, showers, changing rooms and toilets are installed here, as well as rentals of umbrellas and sunbeds.

In every resort of the Costa Dorada you will find comfortable beaches and areas for “wild” recreation. In October, the coast is not crowded, but not at all deserted. Visitors enjoy not only swimming in the sea, but also sunbathing, admiring the beauty of the sea, basking in the sun and breathing clean fresh air.

    Excursion holiday in Costa Dorada

When else to explore local attractions, if not in the warm off-season? In summer it is too hot for walking, in winter it often rains, but spring and autumn are ideal times for excursions. On the “Gold Coast” there are parks, museums, entertainment centers, historical monuments and much more.

    Port Aventura

The Port Aventura amusement park in Salou is one of the largest in Europe. It would be a crime to come to the Costa Dorada and not visit this place. In addition, October is the final month of the daily work of the park, since November it is open only on weekends. Visitors enjoy unique shows and also get an adrenaline rush on high-speed rides and slides.

    • Port Aventura: author’s review of the Kid Passage, opening hours, ticket prices

    Gaudí Center (Reus)

One of the most famous attractions of the Costa Dorada is the Gaudí Center in Reus. You can visit it at the end of October, on one of the cloudy days. The center is a multimedia museum where everything is done with the latest technology. The museum also has a mirror cinema hall, where a film about the legendary architect is shown to the tourists.

    Amphitheater of Tarragona

The building was built in the 2nd century AD. e., the amphitheater of Tarragona is of great historical importance. Gladiator fights were held in the arena, later public executions, shows and theatrical performances were arranged on holidays. The amphitheater can accommodate about 15 thousand spectators, it is located almost on the very seashore, an impressive view opens from the balcony. Now there is a museum exposition.

    • karting (Salou)
    • Jungle Trek (Tarragona)
    • Aquapolis water park (La Pineda), which is open only at the beginning of the month;
    • Ebro Delta Nature Reserve

    Holidays, events, festivals

Spain is a country of continuous fiesta. It seems that the local population is ready to have fun all day long. Holidays in the Costa Dorada in October only complete the picture of a perfect holiday.

The Barcelona International Festival starts on October 1 and lasts for a whole month. The annual music event kicks off numerous jazz festivals that take place in Spain until December.

On October 12, the whole country celebrates two holidays at once: Hispanidad, National Day of Spain , and Saint Pilar Day . Religious Spaniards of the older generation honor and respect the Day of the Holy Virgin of Pilar, as it is one of the main holidays of the country’s Catholic community.

Hispanidad is considered the day of national culture and civilization, it is celebrated in every corner of the state. October 12 is an official holiday, so many government agencies and shops are closed.

From 12 to 23 October, Oktoberfest takes place in Barcelona. The beer festival is sustained in German traditions. A lot of foamy drink, a variety of beer snacks, live music, rides and other entertainment are the main components of the holiday.

    Holiday prices in October

One of the advantages of visiting the “Golden Coast” in the second month of autumn is the opportunity to save money. Mid-autumn is already far from the high tourist season, so prices in the Costa Dorada in October delight visitors with their democratic nature.

    Price of tours

So, in the first month of autumn, tourists pay an average of 84 euros per day, in the second – 75-80 euros, in the third – 76 euros.

    • Best hotels in Costa Dorada for children

    Catering and transfer

The pleasure of national Spanish cuisine will be another addition to the treasury of pleasant memories. A full meal at a local cafe costs 8–12 euros. Better to order menu del dia (business lunch), which includes the first, second, drink and dessert. A similar business lunch cafe offers from 12:00 to 16:00. Lunch in a restaurant will cost a little more, exactly the same lunch costs 10–25 euros. The price depends on the class of the establishment, and its location also plays an important role.

Buses run along the Costa Dorada, so getting from one resort to another is not difficult. A ticket for a city bus costs 1.2 euros, for an intercity bus – from 2.5 euros (the final cost depends on the distance), for a tourist train – 3-4 euros. On the “Gold Coast” you can also use the services of a taxi (landing 3.5 euros and each kilometer 1.5 euros).

How to dress in the Costa Dorada

Whatever one may say, but despite the Mediterranean climate, autumn is also autumn in Spain. Summer clothes alone are no longer enough here, since in the evenings it is cool and fresh in the resorts of the coast. Take a bigger suitcase, because you will have to carry not only T-shirts and shorts for daytime walks, a swimsuit and a hat for the beach, but also sweaters, jeans and windbreakers for the evening. Don’t forget about shoes. It should be of two types: sandals, in which you will walk along the sandy coast, and sneakers or moccasins, which you will wear on an excursion or a walk around the city.

    Recommendations for families with children

For families, the beginning of the month is more suitable, as at this time the Balearic Sea has not yet cooled down. In addition, in the first decade of October, the thermometer shows the highest temperature marks typical for this period.
