Where does this data come from
Weather data for Guia was collected from the MERRA-2 project from NASA, which used a climate model combined with historical data from weather stations around the world to estimate what the conditions were like for every point on the Earth.
For all data based on historical data, we’ve averaged the data from the past 11 years (2010-2020). For example, for the hourly temperature at 10am, we’ve looked at the temperature at 10am on every day in October (e.g., October 1, October 2, etc. in 2010, 2011, etc.) and took the arithmetic mean. We did not smooth the data, so for example, our daily temperature line will have some randomness due to the fact that weather is random in the first place.
Spain in October: Spain Travel Guide
While summers in Spain can be unbearably hot, and even the air September can still feel like it’s hanging onto the heat of August, October in Spain is perhaps one of the most pleasant months to visit the country, weather-wise, although as you might expect the later you get in the month the cooler it will be.
The country-wide average temperatures for October (which is kind of a silly number to come up with, really, as the country’s climate varies so widely from one region to another, but I’m just quoting the official Spain tourism website here) are just over 70F (25C) for a high and just over 52F (11C) for a low. Because some of Spain’s most popular cities are absolutely stifling in the height of summer, they’re really best avoided until the shoulder seasons – October is probably the best month to visit cities like Madrid, for instance.
But even though some parts of Spain can get cooler in late October, in some places it’s still totally possible to include lying on the beach in your vacation plans! You’ll need to check with current weather forecasts, but especially if you’re going to the Costa del Sol, you might want to consider bringing your bathing suit with you.
Some average temperatures for Spain in October, listed by city, are:
- Barcelona – 70F high, 54F low
- Madrid – 68F high, 46F low
- Seville – 79F high, 55F low
- Santiago – 84F high, 48F low
- Malaga – 73F high, 57F low
The rainfall levels in Spain in October vary by region and city, but the country-wide average is just over 68mm for October. Barcelona, Valencia and Madrid average about 10 rainy days in October, while Seville, Granada and Malaga average only 8. Cities like Santiago and Bilbao average more rainy days, coming in at 18 and 15 respectively.
As for the festivals in October in Spain, the biggest country-wide holiday all month is Spain’s national holiday on October 12, the Dia de la Hispanidad – also known as Columbus Day. This means that lots of things will be closed, including banks and some tourist attractions. If October 12 falls on a Tuesday or a Thursday, some shops may also be closed the Monday before or Friday afterwards as well – check with your hotel or hostel to find out more. Some other holidays and festivals which take place around Spain in October are:
- Bienal de Flamenco – From mid-September through mid-October, this is a very important flamenco festival in Seville, but it only takes place every two years (in the even years).
- La Fiesta del Pilar – In Zaragoza on October 12, this is perhaps the biggest festival of the month; it dates back to 40AD and involves parades, music, and dances.
- Barcelona Film Festivals – During October, Barcelona runs two film festivals – one for erotic films early in the month, and just after that one for gay & lesbian films.
- Other Film Festivals – October is film festival month in Spain, with festivals in Albacete, Sitges, Valencia, and San Sebastian. The latter is a horror & fantasy film festival.
- Festival de Otono – From mid-October through early November, Madrid is home to this performing arts festival.
And just in case you happen to be in the Alpujarras mountains in early October, be sure to swing into the town of Cadiar where they mark their Feria de Octubre by replacing all the water in the city’s fountains with wine.
Weather in Spain in October 2022 ✓ Now +6°С/+8°С ✓ Weather forecast outdoors and in the water for 3, 5, 7, 10 and 14 days.

When to go to Spain

to Spain
1,394 Views
Climate: The Spanish climate can be divided into three main types: Mediterranean in the south, continental in the central part and oceanic-Atlantic in the northwest.
In addition to these three main types of climate, Spain also has an alpine climate on the highest peaks of the Pyrenees, while the climate in the Murcia region is rather arid, in the Canary Islands it is subtropical semi-arid.
OCEANIC CLIMATE:
The oceanic climate is characteristic of the north of Spain, often referred to as “Green Spain”, an area characterized by this type of climate extending west from the Pyrenees to the coast of Galicia. The climate is characterized by: relatively mild winters, hot summers, but not stuffy, rains are abundant and distributed throughout the year.
The north and northwest of the country, especially along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, are influenced by the Gulf Stream, due to which the climate is characterized by moderate temperatures, but also high humidity and heavy cloud cover.
Basically oceanic influence causes frequent rains, thick fog along the coast and often cloudy days, autumn is the rainiest time of the year and summer is generally sunny but cooler compared to the rest of Spain.
The temperature differs little day and night, and in different seasons. The farther from the ocean, the less the intensity of rain, which gradually decreases as you move east.
CONTINENTAL CLIMATE:
this type of climate prevails in most of the Iberian Peninsula, on the central Meseta plateau and the basin of the river. Ebro. The climate in these areas is characterized by significant differences between day and night temperatures, as well as between different seasons, irregular and scarce precipitation with an average annual level of 300 mm – 600 mm. In the northern part of the Meseta plateau and the river basin. The Ebro has two more intense rainy seasons from April to June, and then a second season from October to November.
The southern part of the Meseta plateau also has two rainy seasons: the rainiest period is in autumn, and a shorter rainy period usually in March. Meseta and the central regions of Spain have a continental climate with very hot summers, with very high temperatures and dry air, and cold, windy winters, often with frosts. It can rain in spring and autumn. There is a lot of snow in the mountains in winter. In summer, there is a significant difference between day and night temperatures: from 30-40°C during the day to 10°C at night.
Toledo, Spain. Author Marco Ramerini
MEDITERRANEAN CLIMATE:
Spain’s Mediterranean climate stretches along the coast south from the Pyrenees to Andalusia. The Mediterranean is characterized by mild winters, long and dry summers, rainy autumns and magnificent springs. As a rule, a breeze blowing from the sea softens the summer heat, while the extreme southern regions are exposed to a dry wind from North Africa. The average temperature in winter along the coast is about 10-13°C, and in the interior of Andalusia it is several degrees lower. In summer, the average temperature is about 22-27°C on the coast and 29-31°C in the hinterland.
When to go to Spain
The best time to visit Spain is undoubtedly spring and autumn. Spring is the perfect time of year to visit the central regions of Castile, Andalusia, the Mediterranean coast and the Balearic Islands. In summer it is good to visit the northern regions, especially the coast of Cantabria, Galicia and Santiago. Autumn is perhaps the best time of the year to visit the whole country. Wonderful weather, sunny days and blue skies. In winter, the mountain ranges to the north and south provide excellent opportunities for winter sports.

What’s the weather like in Alcudia the rest of the year? We’ve collected the weather data for Alcudia during all other months of the year too:
Where does this data come from?Weather data for Alcudia was collected from the MERRA-2 project from NASA, which used a climate model combined with historical data from weather stations around the world to estimate what the conditions were like for every point on the Earth. A warning has been sent out to Ryanair customers over online check-ins for flights booked in November.
The airline has announced its online check-in process will be down temporarily, which could result in holidaymakers being hit with an unexpected fee. The Ryanair website and app is set to undergo maintenance for an 11-hour period, with the outage starting 6pm on November 8 and ending at 5am on November 9.
Passengers have been told to check in ahead of the maintenance work if they are flying during this period. Ryanair charges customers £55 for failing to check in online if their flight departs in less than two hours, or £30 for flights to Spain.

An announcement on the Irish airline’s website reads: “Due to planned maintenance, Ryanair website / app will be temporarily down from 18.00hrs Tue, 8 – 05.00hrs Wed, 9 Nov. Customers who are due to fly during this 11-hour period should check-in online before 18.00hrs on Tue, 8 Nov.”
A fine over check-ins could leave passengers out of pocket before their holiday even begins. The news comes after a recent report found that two-thirds of Brits admit they were also caught out by ” financial blindspots ” while abroad.
The HSBC UK survey found that one in 10 have made purchases abroad in GBP, which is more expensive than local currencies. On top of this, six in 10 holidaymakers said they incurred fees for cash withdrawals and debit card transactions last time they travelled overseas. One in four Brits were also found to have gone over-budget by between £100-£300 on their holiday this year.

Exploring without the fuss on P&O Cruises Azura around the Canaries, Scotland on Sunday Travel
Stepping onto P&O Cruises’ Azura in Tenerife, my first reaction was one of surprise at the scale.
The Azura sails around the Canary Islands, and can hold around 3,100 passengers. Pic: P&0 Cruises
It was massive, absurd, a shining white behemoth that can hold around 3,100 passengers and still never feel crowded.
My second was of concern, worried that stepping out of Spain’s gorgeous October sun I would find myself locked up on a boat, a captive with hordes of other tourists stuck in a floating tin filled with English sardines.
But what I actually found was a holiday free from the faff of admin, with instead a focus on making sure you have the best time doing whatever you want, with staff focused on making sure you feel like the most important person in the world at all times.

Fancy just lounging around by the pool with a book? You can do that. Want to go on a guided tour or be driven up a mountain? Both work. Fancy exploring on your own without other tourists? You can, and you absolutely should.
Our ship sailed around the Canaries, stopping in Tenerife, Madeira, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote across one week.
Flying direct from Gatwick to Tenerife, the first thing that hits you is the heat, a thickness in the air that frankly I could not believe I was feeling in October. From here it was a short taxi ride across the seafront to the ship, which you can’t miss because it’s bigger than anything you’ve ever seen.
Despite this, much like the Tardis, it’s bigger on the inside, and can feel a bit like you’re going between planets just due to the massive range of facilities on board.

The Azura has four swimming pools complete with sunbathing areas, a spa, hot tubs, and even a sports court where I managed to throw the basketball in with a backwards shot, because the facilities are not only lovely but helpful for bragging.
One of these naturally comes with an open air cinema, or if that’s too outside for you, there’s the Playhouse theatre for cabaret, magic, comedy and even interactive game shows.
It is overwhelming in the best way, and that’s before we’ve even got to the restaurants, some of which are so good it’s a shame you have to book a cruise to go to them.
Top of the list would be Sindhu, one of the few venues where you have to pay a little extra, offering Indian food and incredible service. We had the chickpea curry and paneer dumplings, followed by a chocolate truffle mousse I was too full to eat, so instead essentially inhaled it. It was brilliant, and along with the fine dining restaurant The Epicurean, represented some of the best food available on the ship.
Guests can take a ferry to the beach for swims and kayaking. La Graciosa beach Lanzarote. Pic: P&O
On top of this there are more traditional restaurants and a buffet included, albeit with food that is more about sustenance. But when you can have as much as you want, there is something comforting about piling a plate up after a long hard day of lounging.
Not that you’re stuck on the boat, with off-shore activities available at every location, ranging from jet skis to wine tasting, beach days to hikes, to bike tours and cruises.
In Tenerife, we elected to travel to Mount Teide, a volcano representing the highest point in Spain at 3,715m. Stopping off for pictures at view spots or at quaint cafes for pastries, it offered incredible sights and a complete change of scenery from the lush greenery you see elsewhere on the island.
While piling into the bus can seem a bit too much like organised fun, travelling like this was the only way we could have reached it, beyond hiring a car, and was a real treat.
Madeira is full of cobbled streets, small squares and little restaurants packed with locals. Pic: P&O
The real highlight though was in Lanzarote, where we signed up for a cruise which took us to a remote beach where we could swim, kayak and sunbathe to our hearts content.
Our generous hosts then let us swim out to the boat, though a water taxi was available, for a paella lunch at sea with some beers. Jumping into the sea straight from the ship, one guest told me it was “what holidays are all about”, and she’d already booked to come back next year.
It was striking how many people felt this way and many they do these regularly so there is a community around them, and it’s a great way to socialise and make friends.
If you’re less inclined to do that, going off on your own is also an option, which is what we did in Madeira, best known for hosting the Christiano Ronaldo museum. More excitingly however, it just feels like a vibrant European city, with cobbled streets, small squares where a beer is a euro, and little restaurants packed with locals. It was at one of these where I tried the local delicacy, a black scabbard fish sandwich which was so utterly brilliant I will think about it for the rest of my life.
We also ventured out in Gran Canaria, enjoying cocktails by the sea, in-between swimming in it. Being able to live like that at any time is a joy, let alone during winter.
None of this would matter of course if our base was not nice, but our balcony room was a delight. Finding a bottle of champagne and chocolates on arriving, we spent days sitting on the balcony reading next to the endless sea, or playing chess until we were too drunk to cope with losing.

It was special, truly special, with lots of wonderful moments packed into one holiday purely because they make it so easy. I have always put a lot of effort into my holidays, spending hours scouring articles about where to go, trawling flight comparison sites, and looking up places to stay on a map so I don’t accidentally end up in the wrong place. Did you know there was a Bruges in France? Because I did only after falling in love with an airbnb not in Belgium. I’d do the same with restaurants and sites, making a google maps list of all the places I wanted to visit, knowing inevitably I would fail. With P&O Cruises, you get all this time back, the concerns over what to see and what to do dissipate. Instead of picking one country for a long time, like tapas you get smaller samples of a lot of them, and it’s all the more filling because of it.
Prices at P&O Cruises aboard the Azura, Canarie, starting from £499 for seven nights with food included.

The Top Ten Best Holiday Destinations In October
As the nights are beginning to draw closer and the weather starts to take a turn for the worse, it can really put a downer on your mood. If you hate the idea of shivering and turning the heating up full blast then we think it’s time you booked yourself some autumnal sun to break up those chilly nights – don’t you? If you’re not too sure where it is that you want to jet off too, take a look at our top ten October holiday destinations below.
Tenerife
The perfect place for affordable winter sun that’s only four hours away from home. If you fancy some peace and quiet then head to the delightfully stunning town of Los Cristianos on the southwest coast or choose the tourist haven that is Playas De Las Amèricas, which has six beaches and a lively nightlife scene. Indulge yourself with one of the many activities that the island has to offer such as scuba diving, horse riding, swimming and much more. But if you simply want to chill by the pool with a good book then the gorgeous weather will certainly let you do just that. For a holiday that offers it all, Tenerife is the one.
Rome
If you’re looking for a city break that is still lovely and warm, then this is the one for you. October is one of the most beautiful times of years for Rome, where the evening light casts warm shadows across the city’s beautiful architecture.
Many of the schools across Europe have broken up around the third week of October so if you’re thinking of heading to Rome around that time then expect it to be a bit busy. However, in the Italian capital busy is normal; there’s an enticing buzz about it, the cafes and restaurants are in full swing and the atmosphere is both comforting and welcoming.
Lanzarote
With its gorgeous beaches, this lively Canary Island is packed full of things to keep you happy and entertained whilst you’re there. It’s great for families, couples who want to explore the secluded quiet areas or a large group of friends who want to take full advantage of its nightlife.
Shop till you drop at the Teguise market or head to chilled out Playa De Los Pocillos and shut off from the outside world. If you hire a car you can drive to one end of the island to the other very easily. Lanzarote is a great destination for a late beach holiday.
Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands
For a slightly more unusual holiday off the beaten track, how about visiting Ecuador and Galapagos Islands in October? It’s the perfect time of year to go as the temperatures start to creep up after a cooler August and September and the end of the ‘garua season’ – otherwise known as mist season – draws near. This is where the mist covering the tops of the highland areas begins to break up, increasing the visibility and making some amazing sunrises over the volcanoes. Tourists can witness the stunning landscape at its finest.
There is still a lot of marine activity in October because the Antarctic Humbolt current is at its strongest during this month – so there are a lot of tropical fish to see and birds to spot.
Turkey
For another nearby holiday destination prioritising plenty of sun, Turkey is the perfect place. There are so many different activities on offer here – you can spend your time checking out striking architecture like the Blue Mosque, or look round the Roman ruins across the island. Spend your days soaking up the atmosphere and lazing around on the white sands while looking out to the sea. There is a spot in Turkey to suit any holiday maker: Dalaman, Antalya, Marmaris, Oludeniz and Bodrum are all fantastic destinations.
Mauritius
Mauritius is an island just off the southeast coast of Africa, approximately 900km from Madagascar in the Indian Ocean, meaning you will experience lots of blissful tropical weather. There is no better pairing than white sand and crystal clear waters which Mauritius has to offer in abundance. Search the reefs for parrotfish, clown fish, and trumpet fish. You might even spot some sea turtles and dolphins. The west coast is home to some of the best diving sites and exotic marine life so be sure to get your flippers and snorkels out! Go and explore the exotic flowers and wildlife that are blooming during October as it’s spring time over there.
Las Vegas
Now, Las Vegas could be a bit chillier in October so there are more reliable places to go to in terms of sun, but a holiday here is never completely about the weather. The vibe in Vegas is truly spectacular. Full of charismatic casinos, fancy hotels and great bars, the weather really won’t matter to you. But it will still be warm enough to wear light clothing, especially during the daytime when the temperatures are at their highest. Las Vegas is one of the most exciting cities in the world – you certainly won’t be bored when you’re there. Do some shopping or check out the many tourist attractions that it has to offer such as the High Roller and Stratosphere Tower. Or go for a hike around the Red Rock Canyon. The possibilities in Vegas are endless.
Algarve, Portugal
Although the autumn rain tends to pick up towards the end of October because of the Algarve’s location it is still a great time to visit as the weather is still so warm. If you’re someone who prefers the thinner crowds as well, then this is perfect for you. It’s been said that some of the best months in the Algarve are the ones out of peak summer season.
Head down to one of the outdoor restaurants, take a walk down to the beach or take part in some water sports that are available. If you’re a fan of exploring then you’ll love it here, and with it being slightly cooler in October it’s the best time to take a look around the region. There are gorgeous castles atop hills to be uncovered, green countryside full of wild flowers and plenty of wildlife to admire from afar.
Brazil
Brazilian beaches are spectacular but the best ones are on the northeast coastline of Ceara and Bahia. It’s not hard to find what attracts people to this place at all with its palm fringe beaches and lovely little villages. If you’re into any kind of surfing, from windsurfing to kitesurfing, you must check out Jericoacoara which has 30-knot winds from July to December. Browse the romantic backstreets stocked with boutique hotels and gourmet restaurants. Explore the historic missions of Rio Grande do Sul. Go hang gliding over the whole of Rio, giving you a bird’s-eye view over the city and the forest. Or explore the wildlife in the Pantanal, home to big cats, reptiles and exotic birds.
Crete, Greece
October is one of the best months to visit Crete as it’s not blistering hot like the summer months, making it bearable to go out and do things. It’s the perfect opportunity to visit some of the archaeological sites like Knossos, Aptera or the Minoan Palace as there won’t be as many visitors compared to the summer months. The Samaria Gorge closes to the public at the end of October so it is your last chance to hike this famous attraction till early May when it will re-open. If you are there towards the end of October, you will see the parades and commemorations of Oxi Day – or Ohi Day – on 28 October.

water temperature, weather, holidays and attractions
Morocco is a country of colorful houses and an “oriental fairy tale” that lurks around every corner. An exotic African country with completely unexplored traditions, tourists visit not only in the summer, but also in October. What is interesting to see in Morocco and what are the advantages of traveling in autumn?

Weather
Various tour operators vying with each other offer travelers tours to this kingdom, and there are many reviews on the sites from those who have already been there. What does a tourist who is going to visit Morocco in October need to know? nine0003
A bright and very pleasant bonus of visiting Morocco in autumn is the weather and temperature regime. The shores of the Islamic kingdom, located in the northern part of Africa , are washed by the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. It is these reservoirs that play a significant role in the formation of weather conditions in the coastal part of Morocco. Resorts located on the Mediterranean coast have a mild, pronounced climate of the classic subtropics, but the Atlantic coast will endow the visitor in October with coolness and significant temperature changes day and night. nine0003
Since the kingdom of Morocco has low, in terms of global scale, the Atlas mountains, the climate of the mountainous regions also differs significantly from the flat areas. In winter, you can go skiing or do other classic winter sports in the mountains.
Morocco is rich in various resorts, hotels and tourist areas. The most visited cities among travelers are:
- Marrakesh (October 29 during the day and 20 at night),
- Casablanca (27/20),
- Agadir (29/21),
- Mohammedia (27/20),
- Essaouira (26/20),
- El Jadida (26/20),
- Tangier (25/17 degrees).
nine0186 Rabat (28/19),
Water temperature
The most “bathing” city is Tangier, located on the coast of the Strait of Gibraltar. During the day the air warms up to 25 degrees , the water temperature is 22 warm degrees. Tourists vacationing on the beaches of Tangier write in reviews that although the water is not “fresh milk”, it is quite comfortable to swim. nine0003
It is warm during the daytime in October in such cities of the kingdom located on the Atlantic coast as Rabat, Casablanca and Agadir. However, swimming, according to tourists, is pretty cool, the water temperature in this part of Morocco in October does not exceed 20 degrees.
Do not forget that at this time of the year it rains in the Islamic kingdom. Although the rate of precipitation here is not the same as in the regions of Russia in autumn, however, when going to Morocco for a vacation, you should still take this into account. nine0003
Weather forecast for water temperature in some beach towns Morocco in October is as follows. So, the temperature indicator of water at this time is:
- Agadir +21 warm degrees,
- Casablanca +19,
- Tangier + 22,
- Essaouira + 26.
Why is Morocco worth visiting in October?
The influx of tourists in October in Morocco is reduced, mainly lovers of more extreme water recreation, namely surfers, come here at this time of the year. The secret capital of this species water sports in the kingdom is Essaouira. A massive influx of surfers is especially observed on weekends. Basically, residents of Italy and France come to “catch the wave” and take a break from everyday bustle on Saturday and Sunday. When traveling to Morocco specifically for the weekend, it is worth remembering this feature and taking into account that in this case it will be difficult to find a suitable hotel and book a room in it.
October Morocco also attracts tourists who like to actively travel around the country and attend various excursions and outings. For lovers of authenticity and Preservation of national traditions a tour to the harvest festival “Date Festival”, held in the city of Eyfud, is suitable. The city is remote from popular tourist routes and is located almost on the very border with the Sahara Desert. The folklore festival is also held in the city of Marrakesh, which most tourists mistakenly consider the capital of Morocco.
A scenic and unforgettable trip to the village of Imuzzer with white houses and the Garden of Eden. The village is located on the territory of the natural park-reserve Du Paradis. A visitor to the village will have the opportunity not only to admire the beauties of the local nature, but also to taste Moroccan honey, as the locals have been engaged in beekeeping and keeping belts since time immemorial. nine0003
You can also visit the Massa nature reserve, located on the lake, which was formed as a result of the construction of the dam. The excursion to the village of Tafraout, which is located at the foot of the mountains Anti-Atlas, also deserved positive feedback from tourists. Natural formations from rocks here are very unusual, one might even say Martian, in shape. Among travelers there will always be those who want to take a photo against the backdrop of this natural attraction.
Mysterious Marrakech and other cities of the country
Marrakesh enjoys special attention and high demand among tourists discovering the kingdom of Morocco. The city itself is very unique, it smells like a real oriental fairy tale. Note that it was in this African city that the events described in the fairy tale “Aladdin”, so successfully filmed by Walt Disney, once developed.
Having walked a lot along the picturesque streets of Marrakech, tourists go either to the Kik plateau in the Atlas Mountains, or to the Ourika valley , inhabited by the indigenous Berber tribe. Also, travelers in the reviews are advised to visit the picturesque Ouzoud waterfall.
Excursion tours to the ancient pearl of the Sousse valley, the city of Taroudant, are popular. The entire territory of the attraction is surrounded by a high centuries-old stone wall. Local residents of the city of are engaged in handicrafts characteristic of the inhabitants of Morocco. Oriental shops and bazaars are replete with masterpieces of their manual labor, which can be purchased freely.
Connoisseurs of Morocco recommend visiting the city of Fes. The ancient settlement is really mesmerizing and, as described in many reviews, soothing. There is no usual fuss in the city, life flows measuredly and calmly.
For those who are not satisfied with the day life of the kingdom, there is no less vibrant and fascinating night life. With the onset of twilight, a pleasant coolness descends on the African lands of Morocco, and night lights are lit. Since most of the population, and is exactly 98% of local residents profess Islam, then this way of life extends to most of the state. However, you should not think that life here is finally fading; hotels have discos and bars with restaurants that serve around the clock. However, especially lovers of nightlife liked Marrakesh and Casablanca.
What do people celebrate in Morocco in October?
There are not so many official holidays in Morocco, especially those that fall precisely on October. Since most local holidays do not have of a well-defined date , then the Eastern New Year, which here is called Fatih Muharram, may also fall on the tenth month of the year. In the city of Tisza, located a few tens of kilometers from Fes, during this period, an equestrian festival is held, where the Berbers demonstrate their skills. If you’re lucky, in Fez itself you can get to the culinary festival, which, however, is not held every year.
Instead of an afterword
If you are going to visit the Kingdom of Morocco, you should not forget that this is an Islamic state. Tourists in the reviews note that there, of course, it is not as strict as in Saudi Arabia, but Tunisia is not permissive either. Morocco is a calm country where the authorities are doing their best to to provide comfort and peace precisely to tourists, sometimes even turning a blind eye to minor misconduct of the country’s guests. However, despite this, during the Muslim holiday of Ramadan, even guests are forbidden to consume alcoholic beverages.
October is a great “velvet” month to visit the fabulous kingdom of Morocco. It is possible that a tour to this country will help the traveler to find oriental slowness and discover his Arabian fairy tale.

Torrevieja is a Spanish city in the province of Alicante. It is located on the Mediterranean coast and for this it is loved by tourists and expats.

Read our article and you will find out why Torrevieja is interesting, why it is called the “Russian” city and what is worth seeing there.
Why Torrevieja is called the “Russian capital” of Spain
In the 2000s, a stream of Russian tourists poured into Spain. Inspired by the Spanish warm climate and seascapes, the Russians invested in local real estate, and eventually received a residence permit and remained to live near the Mediterranean Sea.
The largest Russian diaspora in Spain has formed in Torrevieja. Because of this, the city began to be called the “Russian capital” of the country. Russian speech in Torrevieja can be heard everywhere: on the streets, in shops, medical centers, restaurants, beauty salons. There are Russian-language schools, radio and television.
“I don’t know how, but everyone understands what you need. And sometimes in a bank you don’t understand something, and a person stands in line behind and translates in Russian. Everyone helps each other, no matter where you turn, – says our client Veronika. We helped her and her husband move to Torrevieja.
The couple’s neighbors turned out to be several Russian-speaking families, among which there were even their countrymen from the Samara region.

Beach holidays in Torrevieja
Sandy beaches cover 25 km of the coast. Most of them have received the Blue Flag award for cleanliness, comfort and safety. Every public beach in Torrevieja is equipped with toilets, foot showers, lifeguard stations. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available for rent, there are cafes and restaurants.
We present you the TOP 5 popular beaches of Torrevieja.
La Mata (Playa de la Mata)
The largest recreation area in the city and county – 1930 m long and 47 m wide. The beach is strewn with light soft sand, the descent into the water is gentle. Along the coast you can walk along the wooden embankment.
La Mata is located 6.5 km from the historic center of Torrevieja and can be easily reached on foot. If you are not ready for long walks, then buses are at your service.
Cala Cabo Cervera
This cosy, 100-meter sandy cove is adjacent to La Mata. There is fine yellow sand on the shore, the entrance to the water is quite convenient, in some places there are rocky formations at the bottom. There are several sandy and rocky bays nearby, but they are not equipped for swimming and can even be dangerous for unsure swimmers. In these places of Torrevieja autotourists and divers prefer to stop.
Los Locos (Playa de Los Locos)
You don’t have to leave Torrevieja to enjoy this beach. It is quite spacious – 760 m long and 27 wide. Immediately behind the sandy strip is an asphalt embankment.
Interestingly, in Spanish, Playa de Los Locos means “the beach of the crazy.” Until the end of the Civil War, a psychiatric clinic worked here. Then it closed, but the name stuck.
Playa Del Cura
This beach is always full of life, because it is located in the center of Torrevieja. Cleanliness is especially monitored here – every morning they remove garbage and level the sand. Attractions of Torrevieja and its environs
In the 19th century, the watchtower was the main object of the city, from which the name Torrevieja (Spanish: Torre Vieja – old tower) came from. Over time, it collapsed, but the inhabitants of Torrevieja built a new one so as not to lose their historical roots. Tower Torre del Moro is the symbol of the city, which is proudly shown to tourists.
Parque de Las Naciones is a great place to walk. There is a lot of greenery on the territory of 20 thousand square meters, and ponds and fountains give coolness in the summer heat. A playground is equipped for children. The park is dedicated to the nations of Europe and is decorated with flags of different countries. One of its lakes follows the shape of the European continent.
On the outskirts of Torrevieja there are Aquapolis water park (El parque acuático Aquopolis). 15 water attractions for children and adults are at guests’ disposal. Visitors are entertained by animators.
Fans of museum expositions should pay attention to Museum of the Sea and Salt (Museo del Mar y de la Sal) . Its exhibits tell about the important industry of the city – the extraction of table salt. Torrevieja is the largest supplier of this product in Europe. Another interesting museum is located in a submarine (Museo flotante submarino S-61 Delfín). It gives an opportunity to look into the world of submariners – how they live and work on submarines.
A walk through Parque Aromatico is as good as an aromatherapy session. Dozens of species of fragrant plants grow here: lavender, basil, thyme, rosemary. An avant-garde-style ecological park of 70 thousand square meters in Torrevieja was created by the Catalan architect Carmen Pinos.
Enjoy fantastic views and improve your health at the pink lake of Torrevieja (Laguna Salada de Torrevieja). Thanks to a special type of microalgae, at different times of the year and even days, the color of the reservoir changes from pale pink to deep crimson.
The water and mud in this lake are similar in healing properties to the Dead Sea, and the air around it is saturated with beneficial ions. On the shore you can meet pink flamingos.
The pink lake of Torrevieja is located in the area of the Las Lagunas de La Mata nature reserve. Swimming is allowed only in specially designated areas, otherwise you can get a fine
From May to October, the color of the water in the lake is especially intense.
If you are tired of walking, sit down on a free bench among the greenery and fountains at Constitution Square (Plaza de la Consitutión). Look for it in the central part of the Old Town. And then you can go to explore dozens of nearby shops, coffee houses and restaurants.
The Cultural Center in Torrevieja (La Sociedad Cultural Casino) is known for its luxurious architecture and interiors. This ancient building used to be a casino, and now it has a restaurant with Spanish cuisine, a library, and billiards. It also hosts exhibitions and musical events.
For those who have explored all the interesting places in Torrevieja, we suggest looking outside the city. For example, go on an excursion to the nearest major cities – Alicante and Murcia. Very close to the ancient city Cartagena , whose cozy streets remember the times of the Roman Empire. The remains of an ancient amphitheater built in the 1st century BC have been preserved there.
To diversify your beach holiday, you should go to La Manga . This is a sandy spit in the province of Murcia, a little over 20 km long. One side of it overlooks the salty Mar Menor lagoon, the other – the Mediterranean Sea. The first is great for children – for several tens of meters near the shore, the water barely reaches the knee. However, in summer the lagoon gets very warm under the hot sun and it will not be possible to cool there. On the opposite side with access to the sea, swimming is much more comfortable.
Where to go shopping in Torrevieja
The city has dozens of shops and shops where you can buy both international brands and local products – from souvenirs to clothes and shoes. The most popular are located in the area of Constitution Square and the embankment.
Look for large shopping centers on the outskirts of Torrevieja or outside the city:
- La Zenia (Centro Comercial Zenia Boulevard). The main shopping center of the southern part of the Costa Blanca. There are more than 100 branded stores, a food court, a bowling alley, a casino, beauty salons, a mother and child room. On the territory of the complex there is a platform with fountains and a stage where entertainment events take place;
- Habaneras (Centro Comercial Habaneras). Located 10 minutes walk from La Zenia. This shopping center has more than 30 branded stores, there is a food court. Of the minuses – there is no roof, that is, you can hide from the rain only in one of the trade pavilions;
- Carrefour is a French hypermarket chain. Carrefour in Torrevieja is represented by one point near the Habaneras shopping center. Here you can buy almost everything – from clothes and products to building materials and electronics. Trading areas for convenience are divided into thematic areas.
There are also small outlets in Torrevieja, where goods are displayed with discounts of up to 70%. For example, El Corte Ingles Outlet, Outlet Papallona children’s clothing store.
Emigrants from the CIS countries like to shop in Russian shops in Torrevieja. They sell products that they are accustomed to since childhood – dumplings, gingerbread, buckwheat, etc. They are not made in Spain. Such outlets are located in different parts of the city and typically Russian food is brought there. They even have names with a Russian flavor – “Alenka”, “Matryoshka”.
