Where to go on vacation in October

October is not the best month of the year for a seaside vacation – an ordinary tourist would think so, but it is absolutely not so! The second month of autumn is still conducive to a beach holiday. Many countries of the world are in their heyday this month, offering tourists from all over the world a vacation near the sea and even the ocean coast. Tochka-mira will tell you where to go on vacation in October.

Cyprus

One of the few countries in Europe where the beach season ends closer to the beginning of November. So October in Cyprus is, consider, the “velvet season”. The air is cool, precipitation is rare, the heat has almost subsided, but the sun still gives a golden chocolate tan.

Weather in Cyprus in October: air t +27…+29ºС, water t up to +25ºС.

Visa : required.

Thailand

If you have a vacation in October and you are thinking where to go, then pay attention to Thailand. Although at this time the rainy season begins here, you should not be afraid of this. If the rain will pour, then about an hour, the rest of the day in Thailand is hot. Rain only brings freshness and coolness into the air.

Weather in Thailand in October : air t +28…+30ºС, water t up to +28ºС.

Seychelles

Holidays in the Seychelles in October are no different from any other month, because there is no difference in the seasons on the islands. You can fly to the Seychelles on vacation whenever you want. In October, tourists are waiting for the warm sea, humid hot air, calm ocean and calm weather.

Weather in the Seychelles in October : air t +29…+31ºС, water t up to +28ºС.

Visa : not required.

Jordan

October for Jordan is the best month of the year for all kinds of holidays. Summer heat is replaced by autumn “coolness”. The sun is no longer as active as at the height of summer, but still continues to keep the waters of the Red Sea warm. And it is much more pleasant to see the numerous sights of Jordan without fear of getting a sunstroke in the second month of autumn.

Weather in Jordan in October : air t +26…+29ºС, water t up to +30ºС.

Visa : needed, issued at the airport.

UAE

The best resorts in the UAE invite all those who do not know where to go on vacation in October. For lovers of a relaxing family holiday, the coast of Fujairah is suitable, those who are thirsty for a more active pastime should definitely go to the second capital of the Emirate – Dubai. October is the best time to experience all the delights of a holiday in the Persian Gulf.

Weather in the UAE in October: air t +33…+35ºС, water t up to +27ºС.

Visa : needed, issued at the airport.

Tunisia

The Mediterranean in October offers tourists from all over the world a mild climate, half-empty sandy beaches and warm, moist air. In Tunisia at this time there are huge discounts on accommodation, and on the Booking.com website their size reaches 50-70%.

Weather in Tunisia in October : air t +24…+26ºС, water t up to +23ºС.

Visa : not required.

Canary Islands

Summer reigns in the Canaries all year round, and October is considered the “velvet season” on the islands. From the sea it pulls with a fresh cool breeze, the air temperature is the same at night and during the day, and the water near the coast is warm, like fresh milk.

Weather in the Canary Islands in October: air t +24…+26ºС, water t up to +24ºС.

Visa : required.

Israel

The weather in Israel in October, like in neighboring Jordan, is conducive to a beach holiday. The warmest resorts here are Eilat and the Dead Sea coast. Warm weather in Israel lasts until mid-November, and after that the rainy season begins with a sharp drop in the thermometer scale.

Tenerife Summary

Tenerife is known as the island of eternal spring, and with the consistently good weather all year round, it is easy to see why. Holidaymakers flock to the largest of the Canary Islands at all times of the year, indulging in the melting Mediterranean sunshine.

Fly me to Tenerife

Your flight will arrive at one of the island’s two airports: Tenerife South in Granadilla de Abona is the busier of the two, while Tenerife North is located in San Cristóbal de La Laguna and is closer to the island’s quieter towns. Both airports provide easy access to the many resorts on the island, ensuring that you can easily book a hotel close to the airport you are flying to. Where you should fly to depends heavily on what kind of holiday you are after.

The North/South divide in Tenerife makes it extremely simple to plan your holiday. If you are seeking perfect beach weather and a vibrant party scene, the South is definitely for you. The North on the other hand, is usually visited by those who are wishing for a more relaxing vacation, with the aim of total immersion in local culture. Weather in the South of Tenerife is blisteringly hot all year round, while the North is more like the ‘eternal spring’ that the nickname suggests.

Natural beauty in Tenerife

One of the biggest attractions for many holidaymakers to explore during their holiday in Tenerife is surely the dormant volcano located in the centre of the island. The volcano is known as El Teide and is actually Spain’s highest peak – a titanic natural marvel that gives Tenerife a unique geographical quality not found in many popular holiday destinations. Although tourists are no longer permitted to enter the volcanic site, there are still cable car rides available to the top of El Teide. Once you have reached the summit of this intimidating

mountain, you can bathe in the stunning panoramic views of Tenerife from its highest point.

Few islands can boast geography as stunning as that of Tenerife, with the areas of gorgeous, barren volcanic landscape standing in complete contrast to the vistas of luscious green vegetation. Many people consider Tenerife to be the closest Europe has to paradise, due to the varied but beautiful scenery. The variety of scenery in Tenerife ensures that holidaymakers will not have a wasted minute while enjoying their break. Whether you wish to relax on the beach, take in the breathtaking views, or even spend a week familiarizing yourself with the local bars and tavernas – Tenerife truly has something for everyone wishing to get away from it all and enjoy a bargain holiday. Mountain villages are accessible by road and present something completely different for holidaymakers to explore. The coastal towns are as idyllic and picturesque as you would expect from an island perceived as a Mediterranean slice of paradise.

In October, the autumn period begins in Tenerife, which differs significantly from the similar season in Russia. There are no long periods of heavy rainfall, and the air is not saturated with cold.

Tenerife Island (photo: Turismo de Tenerife)

Before choosing a time to travel to a resort, many are interested in the climate conditions in any given month. Holidays in October can be a return to the warm summer, if you choose the right place to stay. One of the most popular resorts in recent years, Tenerife, located on the Canary Islands, has a humid climate in the northern part and a dry, sunny climate in the south.

You can find a detailed guide to Tenerife here.

In October, the autumn period begins in Tenerife, which differs significantly from the similar season in Russia. There are no long periods of heavy rainfall, and the air is not saturated with cold.

Air temperature

Tenerife (photo: Turismo de Tenerife)

The air temperature is slightly lower than in August and September (by 1–2 °C), but still summer. In the southern part of the island, the average monthly temperature does not fall below 26 °C. In the northern part – a little lower. The temperature difference at different times of the day does not have sharp fluctuations, which has a beneficial effect on the well-being of vacationers.

In the mornings in the southern part of the island about 23 °C, in the north – about 19 °C.
During the day, respectively, 25-27 °C and 22-25 °C;
In the evening – 20-25 °C and 19-22 °C;
At night – 19-20 °C and 17-19 °C.

Water temperature

The water temperature fluctuates around 22–23 °C and drops slightly towards the end of the month. It is worth noting that in bays and quiet creeks the water is much warmer, where it warms up to 25 ° C, so the swimming season does not close.

Wind

Tenerife’s El Medano resort (photo: Gema Campos)

Tenerife gets windy in October, attracting windsurfers. The average wind speed reaches 2-5 m/s. The highest wind speed in October (according to weather forecasters) was 17 m/s.

Showers

Clouds over the island (photo: Carlos SM)

The proximity of the monsoons causes rainy days. Overcast days rarely occur during the month (no more than 7 per month), in most cases the sky in the daytime is clear and cloudless. And only sometimes there are heavy showers. The average number of rainy days per month does not exceed five. In October, showers can last for several days (but this is rather an exception to the rule), or they can end in a couple of hours.

Quite often the weather gets worse in the evening and it starts to rain before going to bed. And in the morning the vegetation and sand dry up quickly and the beach is ready to receive guests again.

Hot days and a special radiance, which gave the city its name, attracts many vacationers to the beaches. However, all year round there are people who want to spend time here. nine0003

In the low season, there are more and more interesting offers from hoteliers, no one crowds near the sights and there are no queues.

Tourists make short cultural visits to Alicante, using it as a convenient transport hub for further trips around the country. Many luxury motorhomes stop at campsites, in which elderly Europeans and families with children come.

The resort offers a variety of outdoor activities, including participation in activities such as “tardeo”. nine0003

Every Saturday afternoon around the Central Market on Alfonso El Sabio Avenue in lively conversations over snacks and alcohol, in a disco atmosphere, the flow of people begins to move, flowing from establishment to establishment. By midnight, everything calms down, freeing Sunday for other purposes.

In October, in Alicante, you can try an unusual fruit – cherimoya, or cream apple.

This is also a period of gastronomic celebrations associated with the generous harvests of the Spanish land, the catch of fishermen, the production of wine and cheese. In addition, a wave of film festivals covers the whole country. nine0003

The advantages of the resort in October emphasize the special charm of this Mediterranean town:

  • comfortable air temperature;
  • low prices;
  • the sea at this time is one of the warmest on the continental coast of Spain;
  • is a great time for excursions;
  • low tourist occupancy of the resort.

The disadvantages of rest are directly related to the onset of the cool season:

  • rain, cold winds, storms are likely;
  • short beach holiday;
  • low probability that children will be able to bathe in the sea;
  • In many towns, beach services stop working, water parks, public outdoor pools are closed, opening hours of attractions and museums are reduced.

According to tourists, in autumn Alicante is first of all good for those who come to the Costa Blanca in order to explore the sights, and consider the beach as an addition and are not going to spend whole days there. nine0003

Due to the presence of the railway station, from Alicante it is faster and easier to get to other cities of the country, but also as a main goal, the resort is magnificent.

Reviews about holidays in Alicante in October on the beaches are also not bad, because there is a great opportunity to extend the summer and take a break from work and the bustle of big cities.

Weather in Alicante in October

The weather in October is characterized by a combination of warm and fine days with cloudy ones. Sometimes there are short-term heavy rains, fogs creep. nine0003

In November, climatic conditions change unpredictably throughout the month: clear and cloudy days follow each other, rains are not uncommon.

The weather in early October is usually partly cloudy and very warm. The air temperature does not drop below +20 ° C.

East and south winds blow at speeds up to 6 m/s, sometimes a stronger wind from the north-east direction appears.

The temperature in Alicante in mid-October during the day ranges from +19°C to +26 ° C, and at night it can get colder to +16 ° C. The closer to the end of the month, the colder the nights.

At the end of October the weather in Alicante is usually warm, comfortable, but cooler than in the middle of the month.

Air and water temperature

The maximum average daily temperature in Alicante in October is +25 °C, and the minimum is +15 °C. Most of the time the air temperature exceeds +20 °C.

nine0002 The influence of the mild Mediterranean climate is felt in every corner of the resort. Mountain ranges protect the north of the province from Denia to Benidorm from cold air masses.

From Benidorm to Torrevieja, in the south of the Costa Blanca, flat terrain and semi-desert areas warm up better in summer, but are subject to negative climatic influences at other times of the year.

Air temperature in Alicante in October

Most of the month is sunny and partly cloudy. 4.5 days in total there is continuous cloudiness.

Beach holidays

In early October, tourists can sunbathe on the beaches and swim if they like the cool water. nine0003

The Mediterranean Sea still retains the remnants of summer heat, and even after rain it does not cool down, but parents decide how suitable this water is for bathing children.

After lunch, the waves rise more and more often, you can swing or ride a board on them.

Sunbathing in the midday hours is quite comfortable, but protection from the active sun must be taken.

In mid-October, a cool wind brings discomfort to passive rest, and closer to sunset, the beach becomes uncomfortable. nine0003

However, the Mediterranean autumn guarantees several hours of sunbathing almost every day of the month when it doesn’t rain.

The number of people on the beaches directly depends on how warm it is during the day, so at times a lot of people can gather near the coast.

The resorts in the south of the province keep more heat, but even there the best beaches are semi-desert, which is great for a relaxing holiday.

During this period, beach service is no longer available in most areas, cafes and restaurants on the embankments are closed. nine0003

In Benidorm, the rental of umbrellas and sunbeds is organized almost all year round. Despite the fact that many of the city’s beaches in Alicante have been awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness, they are less frequently cleaned in autumn.

If the sea is rough, signs and flags are posted near the shore. With a yellow flag, children should not be allowed to swim.

If the flag is red, then everyone should refuse to swim. In addition, you can walk along the beach to places where there are no such flags. nine0003

Excursion holidays

The wonderful climate of the city allows you to enjoy outdoor walks at any time until the end of the month.

The most famous promenade, Explanada de Espana , warmly welcomes visitors with four rows of palm trees.

Here on the stage of La Concha you can enjoy music and dancing during the weekend. At one end of the boulevard is the famous Postiguet beach, and at the other, the Canalejas park. In autumn there is nothing better than to look at the sea from these places! nine0003

The esplanade runs parallel to the marina, so you can see the masts of sailing boats moving a few steps away.

It is worth coming to the pier to see a copy of the 18th century galleon “Holy Trinity” , which houses a bar, restaurant, nightclub and museum.

Walk with your children along Paseo Volado and see how its palm trees differ from those seen in the rest of the city (because they are made of iron).

Every two to four years in October, thousands of people watch the start of the yacht race from here.

Another option for an interesting pastime is walking around the city center to see its most famous squares, such as Plaza Gabriel Miro, Plaza Los Luceros, Portal de Elche.

A cultural tour of the city is best to start from Plaza del Mar, and from there go to Santa Barbara Castle. Then, descending through Ereta Park, it is convenient to see the Basilica of Santa Maria, built over the old mosque. nine0003

The city has a huge cultural heritage. The neoclassical Teatro Principal hosts first-class plays and musicals, while the modern ADDA Auditorium hosts major music events and festivals.

The Las Cigarreras Cultural Center hosts a wide range of cultural events: performances, concerts, alternative exhibitions, Sunday markets, etc. hot sun, from which it is difficult to hide on the high observation decks of the city. nine0003

Calm and quiet on the most picturesque street of the city – Santa Cruz, and if you are walking with children, the kids will be delighted with the amazing Mushroom Street.

The museums most visited by families with children in the city are:

  • Modern Sailing Museum Volvo Ocean .
  • Bull and Bullfighting Museum .
  • MARQ Archaeological Museum.
  • Museum of Carnival Dolls Hogueras .

In October, the museums of Alicante are usually open an hour less, with a long break during the day.

Activities

Alicante is a great place to practice sports, because its excellent climate allows you to practice any sport you like.

Alicante is the ideal place for year-round water sports such as water skiing, sailing, diving, snorkeling, surfing, windsurfing, fishing, etc.

From October to May kiteboarding is allowed on San Juan Beach.

Alicante is also a city with 100 km of cycle paths and bicycles are available for rent everywhere. Jogging is another popular activity, and you can see many Spaniards jogging in the morning hours.

There are several excellent golf courses in the city where you can spend the day playing an exciting game in the fresh air. At this time, guides also offer to pay attention to ballooning and extreme sports, because there is no scorching sun. For this reason, groups are easily recruited for collective balloon flights and parachute jumps. nine0003

The Costa Blanca has a variety of amusement parks that are still open in mid-autumn. There are Algar Dinosaur Park , Terra Mitica amusement park competing with Port Aventura , as well as Pola Park, El Mundo de los Ninos and others.

In honor of him, a colorful festival “Moors and Christians” takes place for several days, which has the status of an event of international tourist interest.

A festive procession passes through the streets of the city, and at the end of the festival – a grandiose military parade armed with arquebuses. Not without the final fireworks. nine0003

October 12 is celebrated everywhere National Day of Spain in honor of the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus in 1492.

This event is regarded as the first contact between the New World and Europe, from which the historical milestone of the colonization of the open continent by Europeans began.

In addition, Spanish Language Day is celebrated as an important element in uniting the Spanish-speaking world.

Since 2008, Alicante has been the starting point for round the world sailing regatta Volvo Ocean Race , the longest running professional sporting event on the planet, comparable in popularity to the Olympic Games.

The racing cycle was previously four years, then three years. After the end of the 2017/2018 season, it was decided to hold the regatta every two years, but due to organizational problems, the dates may be postponed.

In the period of preparation for the start, the “Olympic” Race Village is organized in the port, concerts, small regattas and other events are held, including animation performances for the little ones. nine0003

During the last days of the month, during the annual Medieval Festival , the city of Elche changes its appearance, approaching the time when knights, merchants and street performers (jugglers, sorcerers, magicians, druids, traveling musicians) roamed the streets of Spain.

Spectators will enjoy not only a variety of theatrical performances, but also pyrotechnic shows, religious events, entertainment for children, gastronomic treats and much more.

Holiday prices

In many categories of holiday prices in Alicante in October are among the lowest of the year.

Most savings can be made on air travel and accommodation in the city’s hotels, which lack tenants.

Tours

The longer the holiday lasts in October, the more discount tour operators offer. So, in comparison with September, vouchers for 11 and 14 nights become cheaper by 15–20%, but short excursion tours may rise in price. nine0003

On average, a week in Alicante in October will cost a tourist 380 euros with accommodation in a room for two people.

Hotels

During the peak season, a weekly stay in apart-hotels in the city costs 600-1500 euros, but in the off-season, prices are reduced by two to three times.

The average price for a hotel room in October is 78 euros. nine0003

  • Prices for the best hotels in Alicante

Food

In fast food restaurants in Alicante, the main menu costs about 7–10 euros, in restaurants of a higher level for lunch, one will have to pay from 11 to 25 euros. nine0003

The average check in the city’s most popular restaurant is almost 80 euros.

Recommendations for families with children

Alicante in October is suitable for a pleasant and educational vacation.

The wonderful climate is favorable for everyone, but the sea can be too cool for small children, so the main activities for the little ones should be organized on the shore. There are also no outdoor heated municipal pools. nine0003

It is necessary to take with you both summer things and windbreakers, several warm jackets, trousers, umbrellas.

In October, there are mosquitoes in the evenings, from which you can escape with the help of special means. Sometimes jellyfish swim in the sea, the bites of which lead to burns, so avoid meeting with them.

Choose hotels in the city center for accommodation, close to beaches and tourist areas. Most likely, you will have to organize meals outside of hotels where the all-inclusive system does not work. nine0003

  • Holidays with a child in Alicante: author’s review Kidpassage

In view of this, vacationers with small children should give preference to self-catering apartments.

Take advantage of reduced prices and less hype to visit the city’s and province’s most iconic sites.

In large amusement parks there are not so many activities for kids, so it is better to go with them to the local amusement park of Alicante, go to zoos, which are enough in the vicinity, and also visit the Valley of Toys. nine0003

There is a handy Alicante public transport site where you can view and get directions.

When traveling by car, use the road map, as without it it is difficult to navigate the fork of the roads, and whether they are free or paid.

But, there are things you can do, nifty tricks that will keep costs down.

One easy thing you can do is change the setting on your thermostat.

Energy experts have revealed the exact temperature to set it at so that you can save cash and keep warm throughout the winter.

The average households’ bills have risen to £2,500 a year from £1,971 after the energy price guarantee came into effect in October.

That impacts millions on dual fuel energy tariffs, although the exact amount you pay will depend on your usage.

If you have a bigger family that uses a lot of energy, you’re likely to go over £2,500 a year.

When it comes to your thermostat, the Energy Saving Trust recommends you should set it to the “lowest comfortable temperature”.

For most of us this is between 18 and 21 degrees Celsius.

It’s just the right balance between keeping your home warm, and keeping those energy bills as low as possible.

If you have your thermostat set at a higher temperature you can probably afford to turn it down and still keep cosy.

Of course, there are exceptions like anyone who is in ill health, and there is support available to cover extra costs.

Just by turning down the temp by a single degree you could save as much as £100 a year.

If you cut it by more you will obviously make even bigger savings.

Experts at Uswitch found that the temperature inside a fifth of UK homes is hotter than Lanzarote over winter, and more than a million properties are heated to 25°C or more – hotter than Sydney.

So, if you’re at the higher end of the perfect 18-21 degree temperature scale, then you could still try reducing it by a degree or even two to find savings.

The Energy Saving Trust also says that you don’t need to turn your thermostat up when it is colder outside, the house will still heat up to the set temperature.

“It may take a little longer on colder days, so you might want to set your heating to come on earlier in the winter,” it said.

So, if you have your heating on regularly this winter, it might be time to review your settings.

Here are some more top tips for reducing your energy bill, plus extra help you can get.

Top tips for saving hundreds on your energy bill

A properly insulated home can help reduce energy bills by stopping excess heat from escaping.

There’s also help from the Household Support Fund – which has been extended with a £421million boost.

What you’ll get through the fund depends on where you live, but some households are set to get £100 free cash for food, energy bills and essentials this winter.

Draught excluders can save you around £30 a year the Energy Saving Trust has previously said.

We’ve spotted them on sale at Amazon for £10.29 before, but of course you should always shop around for better offers.

And you don’t even have to buy one – you can make them for free by filling a large piece of fabric with old clothes or rice.

Switching off so-called “vampire devices”, that drain energy when left on standby or used inefficiently, could save you on your bills as well.

Here are 30 straight-forward ways to cut your energy bill now.

More help with energy bills

From October 1, all households started getting a £400 energy bill discount.

The payment is being dished out by your energy supplier and will be split across six discounts on bills between October and March next year.

Households received a £66 energy bill discount in October and November and will get a discount worth £67 in December, January, February and March.

Between November and March 2023, a £300 one-off “Pensioner Cost of Living Payment” started being paid out to eight million households.

It is being given to those who already get the winter fuel payment – which is worth between £100 and £300 for those over state pension age.

Sailing star McIlwaine has sights set on European competition

Kilkeel sailing star Erin McIlwaine is hoping to know the Portuguese coastline like the back of her hand as she sets her sights on the European Championships.

The 18-year-old races for Ireland in the 49er class with Ellie Cunnane and is set to embark on a busy spell of winter training in Vilamoura, the venue which will host October’s competition, from St Stephen’s Day.

With World Championships at senior and junior level also on the horizon in a busy 2023, McIlwaine wants to enter the new year in the best possible shape and hopes her familiarity with the conditions will pay off when it matters.

“Our aim is to compete well in the European Championships in October time, so we will have the winter training in Vilamoura to prepare for that event,” said McIlwaine, who benefits from financial support from Boost Drinks – a company born over 20 years ago with a vision of energising everybody in every way and is committed to supporting its local communities, whether this be fuelling them with its range of Sports, Energy, Iced Coffee, and Protein Drinks, or by getting more involved to help them achieve their goal.

“It is important to get out on the water and get used to the shape of the land, how that affects the wind and all that technical knowledge which will help you while you are competing.”

McIlwaine and Cunnane are both relatively new to their 49er class boat, having only started sailing together in January.

The former junior topper world champion, who is in her first year studying physiotherapy at Trinity College Dublin, will start training back in Ireland in March ahead of the busy spell of competitions as she and Cunnane look to peak at just the right time.

“The winter season is our training season,” she added.

“A lot of the teams, especially in the colder countries, would fly internationally and go training.

“In Ireland in the winter, there is either lots of wind or no wind and it is also quite cold, whereas in the warmer countries, the weather will be a lot more consistent.

“Vilamoura and Lanzarote are the most popular training bases for European sailors, especially in the 49ers, so over the new year there will be a lot of boats there.

“We’ve only got two boats in that class in Ireland at the moment, so it is important to go out to Vilamoura to train with the world’s best.”

A plume of warm air from the Canary Islands pushing temperatures to record levels shows no sign of retreating until after the first week of November.

The next few days, while not as hot as the weekend, will be unusually mild as Halloween trick or treaters head out in T-shirts this year.

The warm weather is in part being driven by energy left in the atmosphere from the historic summer heatwave.

Sea and ground temperatures still warm from the past few months will help to push temperatures higher in the Continental plume.

Jim Dale, meteorologist for British Weather Services, said: “The sea and land temperatures are still warm after the summer, and this is because apart from the brief cold spell at the start of the month, it has been unusually mild through autumn.

“Temperatures are likely to stay above average for the time of year through next week and into the second week of November, although they will gradually come down from the highly unusual levels of this weekend.

“It is still going to be relatively mild on Halloween, with highs of 17C possible in the south and between 10C and 12C in the north, and it will be mostly settled, so not scary weather at all.”

Warm air still swathes Britain during the first week of November (Image: wx charts)

Stubborn high pressure helping to steer warm air in from the south is more typical for summer than the run up to winter.

It has joined forces with low pressure to the west of the UK to form a channel of air from France, Spain and the Canary Islands.

The so-called “blocking high” over Europe is keeping low pressure from moving into Britain and shaking up the weather.

Mr Dale, author of Weather Or Not? said: “This is a very unusual weather pattern in that what we are seeing is a summer set up rather than an autumn set up.

“A blocking high over Europe is helping to bring in this warm air, while keeping low pressure to the west and any cold air over Scandinavia.

“This is not the sort of weather that we expect to see at this time of year, but it is a sign that the weather is changing and helping to drive this spell of warm weather will undoubtedly be the effects of climate change.”

Though turning more unsettled later this weekend and into the start of next week (Image: wx charts)

Weather models reveal warm air swamping the UK through next week with temperatures hitting the mid- to high-teens across southern and eastern Britain.

Scotland and the north will be cooler although here temperatures will still lift into the low- to mid-teens–much higher than average for the start of November.

But with low pressure nearby, swathes of Britain will be in the firing line for outbreaks of heavy rain.

Bookmaker Coral has cut the odds to 6-4 on the wettest November on record amid forecasts for above-average rainfall in parts.

Spokesman John Hill said: “It is going to be a very damp start to the new month, and with heavy downpours predicted to fall over the next seven days, we have slashed the odds in half on a record-wet November.”

weather forecast for a month in Krasnoyarsk / News of the Society of Krasnoyarsk and the Krasnoyarsk Territory / Newslab.Ru

September this year did not particularly please the townspeople: only a couple of sunny days, and then no Indian summer. Luckily the heating is on. What will be next? According to weather forecasters, October in general will not be Siberian warm… but sometimes the weather will deteriorate sharply.

      09/30/2022

At the end of September, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia said that the Krasnoyarsk Territory was expecting abnormally warm October and November. All weather portals agree with this statement – however, heat in October will not come immediately. The beginning of the month will be cloudy and cool, with night frosts and temperatures ranging from +3 to +5 °C during the day. Precipitation is expected, including snow and rain.

Fortunately, by mid-October, the thermometer will rise to an average temperature of +10 °C. At least, such a forecast is given by Gismeteo and World-weather.

But the Yandex.Weather forecast is not so optimistic: if you believe it, only one day, October 9, the temperature will rise to +10 °C. After that, the thermometer will drop to an average of +4 °C, then to +2 °C, then even lower… So by the end of the month, the city will have sub-zero temperatures and snow.

In turn, Gismeteo and World-weather promise Krasnoyarsk another temperature “swing” in the second half of the month. Periodically, the thermometer will either rise above zero, or fall below. You can’t find a more illustrative illustration of what a sharply continental climate is.

Climate and Weather – Weather in Spain in October

Is October a good time to visit Spain?

For safe sunbathing on Spain’s southern beaches, October is a good time to go. The weather is still hot and sunny enough for beach bunnies, but the danger of painful blistering has abated and you should return home with a carefully cultivated golden tan. It is getting wetter, though, and the possibility of a few rainy days cannot be discounted. The capital, Madrid, is more attractive as far as the weather goes in October, too – unpleasantly hot in the height of summer, by October it has cooled down considerably, but there may be some rain to mar the sightseeing sorties.

Catalonia may be rather cloudy at times, but there should still be a preponderance of sunny days to enjoy the delights of Barcelona, with mild temperatures. In Galicia in the north-west the rain – held at bay during the summer months – returns with a vengeance, dampening the temperatures, but Basque country should still be pleasantly warm and relatively dry.

    Climate in Spain in October

The coast of Almeria is probably the place to find the best weather in Spain in October, with little or no rainfall and temperatures averaging around 23°C. In Andalucia the rain sets in, especially in the west, during the second half of the month, so there is the likelihood of grey days, although temperatures are still mild to warm. The capital of Spain, Madrid, is passably pleasant in October – mainly dry and mild, but in Barcelona you will have missed the beach boat. The Catalonian coastal city enjoys temperatures of around 21°C in October, but rain is a real possibility. Up north the weather is fairly warm, but the rains begin to return especially in Galicia – Spain’s wettest province – where you can expect it to be wet for around 18 days of the month in October.

What’s on in Spain in October

October 12 is a major Bank holiday in Spain: Columbus Day in English, and Dia de la Hispanidad in Spanish. Most shops, businesses and banks close for the day. Barcelona hosts two major film festivals during October – both a little risqué in that one serves up erotic films and another Gay and Lesbian movies. In fact this is the month for film festivals of all sorts, with large movie events in Sitges, Valencia and San Sebastian as well.  La Fiesta del Pilar takes place in Zaragoza in mid-October, accompanied by an explosion of colourful parades, music and dancing.

What to pack for a holiday in Spain in October

If you are on a beach holiday in Spain in October, ensure you add a cardigan and umbrella to your bag along with the beachwear, shorts and T-shirts. For those headed to the northern areas a raincoat is a necessity. Sightseeing in Madrid requires comfortable shoes, cool clothing and a rainproof poncho in your daypack for those unexpected showers.

The northwestern and northern parts of the country are slightly different climatically, where the Atlantic Ocean has a considerable influence on the formation of weather. Some regions of the peninsula, on which Spain is located, are more prone to precipitation than others, in connection with this, the entire territory of the country is conditionally divided into wet and dry areas.

When is the best time to go on holiday to Spain

For fans of travel and sightseeing, the most suitable months are March, April, May, June. The weather in Spain is also favorable in October and September. At this time, warm nights are observed here and there are no extremely high or low temperatures.

    Summer weather

July and August are extremely hot months, so walking around the city is uncomfortable, but it’s nice to lie on the beach and swim. Residents of Spain hide from the sun at the peak of the heat, and continue to work when the air cools and the sun’s rays do not shine at a right angle. The highest thermometers are in August, but at this time the water in the sea is very hot, attracting millions of tourists from all over the world.

    Beginning of autumn

Velvet is the name of the weather in Spain in September and October. In these two months, the day is still warm, but the nights are already quite cold.

The beginning of autumn in the Iberian Peninsula does not remind of the approach of cold weather. The first half of September pleases resort lovers with sunny weather, with the exception of a few rainy days, although there are not much more of them than in July and August. The north-east of the country is characterized by the highest rainfall activity, with precipitation reaching up to 76 mm. This is much more than in the capital, where up to 55 mm can fall in a month.

The influx of tourists to Ibiza is gradually decreasing. It is warm almost always, but by the end of the month it is not as hot as most travelers would like. However, September is perhaps the best time to relax in this place, because in honor of the end of the season, the organizers tend to invite the most famous DJs and performers to events and parties.

    Mid-Autumn

The arrival of October in Spain marks the end of the tourist season. Although the air temperature is still warm in the daytime, which is conducive to relaxing on the beach. The weather in Spain in October is suitable for traveling to historical places, because the flow of tourists is already noticeably less than in summer. For example, Ibiza or the Canary Islands, places rich in historical monuments, are often crowded with people, but in autumn the flow of visitors drops, so there is a chance to comfortably explore their sights.

Quite warm weather in Spain in October. Feedback from residents and thermometers indicate a constant + 20-23 o C during the day, and at night + 14-16. The water becomes cooler, but maintains an acceptable temperature within + 20-22 o C. In the southern and northern regions, there are fewer sunny days, and heavy rains are possible in the central regions.

The south is a few degrees warmer, but the amount of precipitation also increases there. In the Costa del Sol region, their volume can reach 64 mm, and in the Costa Blanca it rains even more abundantly, sometimes up to 73 mm falls there.

The weather is getting colder in Spain in October, so the rest is no longer a pleasure. Residents of Madrid are gradually changing into warm clothes, getting used to the temperature drop to + 18-19 o C. There are up to 8 rainy days in October in the capital a month. This is less than in coastal areas, where, in addition to precipitation, meteorologists begin to record hurricanes and a slow increase in wind throughout the month.

    The climate of the islands

The weather in the Canary Islands is more stable and suitable for swimming all year round. The water temperature rarely drops below +20 °C, and usually fluctuates around +20-22 °C. The air is still warm, averaging +26°C. That is why the Canary Islands are called the “Islands of Eternal Spring”.

It is also warm all year round in the Balearic Islands region, where Ibiza is popular. Here and in the second month of autumn it is quite warm for some people, and the water is sometimes hotter than the air. The weather in Spain in October shows stable temperatures: +21 °C in the sea, and +18-23 °C on land. But still, swimming is not as pleasant as in summer or in September.

You can also extend the summer in Tenerife, the largest island of the Canary archipelago. Here in autumn there is an opportunity not only to have a good rest, swim and lie on the beach, but also admire the picturesque landscapes. Also at this time of the year, tourists are actively involved in underwater sports.

    When it gets cold

Powerful winds and heavy rains are the main feature of the weather in Spain in November-October. Coastal regions of the country are most affected by them. Relatively warm, with low precipitation, only the eastern part of the state remains. On the Costa Blanca, warm air masses may dominate for some time, the temperature during the day sometimes rises to +20 ° C. But the night is already very cold, the thermometer scale stops at +8 ° C, as in other regions of Spain. Even the warmest islands can no longer please with high water and air temperatures. They are still interesting, but not everyone dares to swim. For example, children are not allowed into the water to avoid colds due to hypothermia.

If in Spain the weather at the beginning of October allowed you to relax on the beach, now it is impossible due to the very low water and air temperatures. Only the most picky can enter the sea. In November, Spain experiences an influx of tourists who head to interesting places.

    What and where to see

This country is famous not only for excellent beaches, bullfighting, delicious food and pretty girls. Spanish architecture is considered to be one of the most interesting on the planet.

Apart from Madrid and Barcelona, Cordoba is especially popular. At one time it was the capital of a Muslim state – the Caliphate of Cordoba. Only after the Reconquista did the city come under Christian rule. This unique place is known throughout the world for its monuments of Christian and Islamic culture, which are closely intertwined in urban architecture.

Cordoba also keeps valuable monuments of ancient Roman culture.

The most famous sights of Spain are the following:

    • Mesquite.
    • Alcazar of Christian kings.
    • Roman bridge.
    • Sagrada Familia.
    • Alhambra.
    • Synagogue of Cordoba.
    • Park Güell.
    • Royal Palace of Madrid.

Every season in Spain creates good conditions for tourists. Some people like to lie under the sun, while others prefer active recreation and exploration of famous places. It is not for nothing that Europeans, Americans and Asians like the weather in Spain in October, because the climate in this month is favorable for both swimming and walking around the cities.

Spain will delight its guests in October with the same sunny temperament, but at a lower financial cost for the holidaymakers themselves. With the beginning of autumn, along with
the scorching sun are declining and prices, of course, cannot be said that everything will be very cheap, but the possibility of saving is quite large.

For people craving beach relaxation in October, the sea in some regions of the country is still warm, and a huge number of water parks and entertainment centers, such

    Beach holidays in Spain

Officially, the beach season in the country is still ongoing. As a rule, the closing of the beach period occurs in the second half of October, although there are exceptions.
The conditions are dictated by autumn weather in Spain.
For the past few years, already at the end of September, the weather brings unexpected surprises: the number of cloudy and rainy days increases.
In October, especially in the second decade of the month, winds on the coast increase to squally, the sea is constantly stormy and the water temperature drops rapidly.

    The climate of Spain

It is worth noting that Spain is far from a small country and the difference in climate is still observed, therefore it is necessary to understand exactly for what purpose and where exactly you are
go to this sunny state. Madrid, Catalonia and, of course, the magnificent Barcelona, even in October, remain welcomingly warm, during the day you can
enjoy temperatures up to +21ºС. But closer to the northwest, namely towards Galicia, rainy weather becomes a more frequent visitor, so much so that
cloudy and sunny days becomes equally divided. The weather conditions in Spain in October are very comfortable, especially in the province of Almeria, in the southern part of Spain,
the temperature at night does not fall below +15ºС, and during the day the air warms up to +23ºС. This temperature regime is very conducive to both relaxing on the beach,
as well as traveling to interesting places, and excursions to incredible temples and other historical and architectural masterpieces.

Prices are reduced in October, there are not so many people, as the school year is in full swing, and the weather favors hiking, unhurried and quiet rest in cozy towns.

Which resort to choose in October?

The climate of Spain still allows you to enjoy swimming in the sea in October, though only in its southern part, where the sea water has not yet cooled below +21ºС
(Cost del Sol, Costa Tropical, Costa de Almeria) or in
    time
    holidays in the Canary Islands,
which are the country’s year-round beach resorts. The daily temperature here never drops below +25ºС. No less popular are
the islands of Spain, belonging to the group of the Balearic archipelago, where the weather conditions are quite suitable for a beach holiday even at the end of October.
You can experience all the delights of such a vacation during
    holidays in Ibiza.
Continental Spanish resorts will also be an excellent option for surfers to relax – they will find something to do in October, getting incredible pleasure
from the waves crashing on the coast.

Where the sea of Spain is warmer in September. Spain in September Features of autumn weather

    0

With the advent of autumn, many resorts cease to receive tourists, as the weather does not allow you to relax by the sea and enjoy a good rest. But not the resorts of Spain. Absolutely all resorts are open in the country and they are all full of vacationers. After all, the weather in Spain in September is almost summer and much higher and sunnier than in the south of our country. And the temperature of the water in the sea is such that you can swim here for a long time, almost until the very winter. Let’s talk about which resorts in Spain are best to relax in September 2019year and read the reviews of tourists.

In sunny and warm Spain you can relax all year round. Swimming in the sea may not always work out, but you can sunbathe in January and February. The country has a huge territory, which has an entrance to the sea. Therefore, hundreds of resorts and thousands of small villages are located on the large coast. Most of the tourists prefer to relax in big cities that are known all over the world. And it is about them that we will talk.

One of the most popular resorts in Spain is Ibiza. September is sunny but not very dry. When the sun is shining, the air warms up to +30 and up to +35, but more often the thermometer shows +27. This is quite a comfortable temperature and you can not be afraid to burn in the sun. Precipitation in the form of rain does not fall often, but if it rains, it is heavy. Up to 42 millimeters of precipitation can fall in a month. It is hot at night in Ibiza, and even if the temperature drops to +20, night discos will not let you freeze. And during the day you can swim in the warm sea, the temperature of which is about +25 degrees.

The island of Mallorca is no less popular, but in early autumn people are not in a hurry to relax here. This is due to numerous rains, which can go up to a third of the entire month. During the rainy season, about 62-65 millimeters of precipitation falls. If the sun is shining, the air warms up to +26, but the nights are cool, and it is better to wear warm clothes for a walk at night.

When people talk about Spain, the first thing they think of is Barcelona. It is this resort that receives half of all tourists in the country. If you decide to visit Barcelona in September, then an umbrella will definitely not be superfluous in your suitcase. The city ranks third among all Spanish cities in terms of rainfall and precipitation in early autumn. In September, more than 80 millimeters of precipitation pours from the sky, and there can be 8-11 rainy days per month. The air temperature during the day, even in cloudy weather, is almost always up to +25 degrees. Nights are a little cooler around +20, and in such weather, most tourists prefer to walk around the city rather than get bored in hotels.

The leader in terms of precipitation in September in Spain is the Costa Dorada. According to statistics, about 90 millimeters of rain can fall here in a month. This is quite a lot for a resort town where people relax by the sea. Despite the abundance of rain and precipitation, the air here is quite well warmed up. In September, the city rarely gets below +25 degrees. And the sea near the resort is warmed up to +24. So on a fine sunny day, tourists rush to the sea to swim and sunbathe.

Salou is another resort that floods in September. There is a little less rainfall than on the Costa Dorada, but they still prevent you from fully enjoying your vacation by the sea. But as soon as the sun comes out, it immediately becomes warm and the local beaches are clogged to the eyeballs. Rains do not scare tourists much and they come here every month in large numbers.

But where there is almost no rain, it is in the town of Santa Cruz. Forecasters record here only one rainy day, and precipitation is not more than 8 millimeters. Agree – for September, this figure is not very bad. As for other indicators, they are also better than those of other cities. The daytime temperature is above +27 degrees, at night it is not lower than +21, and the sea is calm with a water temperature of +23. It is this resort that tourists choose after Barcelona. So think about what is more important to you: the famous name of the city and the rains or a quiet and relaxing holiday by the sea with almost no rainfall.

Weather in Spain in September reviews of tourists

“My husband and I were in Malaga in early September. The sun shone every day. Not a single rain during our week of vacation. The sea is calm, without high waves. The evenings are warm and you can walk. But closer to midnight it becomes cool and it is better to go to the hotel. Prices here are normal, the same as in all of Spain. In the resorts here, no one winds up the price tags.

    Eugene.

“We were vacationing in Mallorca. We arrived on the 15th September and stayed here until the 22nd. It rained once, but it quickly ended. The sun shone every day, and the sea was warm every day. Rare tourists came out of the sea, mostly everyone swam. And they went ashore only on their own business. I liked it here, and I would like to have a rest on the island.”

Unfortunately, it is not always possible to ask the authorities for a vacation just during the summer season. My vacation often falls in September-October. Fortunately, warm countries can still please with hot temperatures during these months. If you decide to go to Spain in September, then definitely go to Mallorca, as in September the Mediterranean Sea temperature in Mallorca reaches as much as 25 degrees above zero.

is a small resort island that does not lose its popularity in autumn due to the fact that its temperature in September-October still reaches +25-30 degrees Celsius. The island is washed by the Mediterranean Sea, which is called the warmest sea in Spain during the autumn period.

A wonderful country in itself, but it is simply a paradise for tourists. Here you can see beautiful sandy beaches, diverse vegetation, visit restaurants with wonderful national cuisine.

Holidays during the velvet season have several advantages:

    1. Travel prices are much lower than in summer.
    2. There is no huge influx of tourists.
    3. The autumn climate in Mallorca is definitely more comfortable (for Russian citizens) than the summer one.
    4. In autumn, the nature of Spain is especially beautiful.

Don’t despair if you haven’t been able to relax in the summer. Autumn is not a sentence. The island is always open for tourists, and I am sure that a trip to Spain will reward you with only positive emotions. And do not be discouraged if you are overtaken by rains (which are possible in autumn), they are warm there and will not interfere with your rest.

“Hot Spain” – perhaps the first association when it comes to holidays in this country. Summer is very friendly to the Spanish coast: somewhere it lasts almost all year round, and somewhere it tries to stay until September-October. Let the calendar summer months be left behind – the beginning of autumn can give as many warm days as you need to swim in the sea and get an enviable tan.

What’s more, there are reasons to postpone a holiday with children in Spain until September. Firstly, in September the languid heat disappears. The heat is on the decline and that magical time comes when you can sunbathe and swim all day. The child quickly acclimatizes, and not a single day of vacation will be lost. Secondly, moderate autumn warmth favors excursions, while in summer, because of the heat, you usually do not want to go anywhere. Thirdly, at the end of August, the resorts of Spain begin to empty, and with a decrease in the flow of tourists, hotel prices also decrease.

But in order to have a successful vacation in September, you need to choose the right resort. Kidpassage has prepared for you information about the best places to relax with a child in the first month of autumn.

    Weather in Spain in September

September in Spain is the season for picking quince and persimmon. The color of these fruits seems to have migrated to the weather forecasts in Spanish resorts: every day is decorated with a warm golden circle. Sunny, warm, dry – this is a brief description of the weather in early September in all resorts in Spain. Autumn has not yet had time to cool the sea with its breath, and the beaches are becoming less crowded just because people are ending their vacation, and it’s time for schoolchildren to sit down at their desks.

But the weather in Spain at the end of September is different in different resorts. In the south and on the islands, the swimming season is still in full swing, and in the east it’s time to dress warmly and move from the beaches to museums.

    Air and water temperature

The northernmost coast of Spain, washed by the Mediterranean Sea, -. Here even in summer there is no strong heat, and in early September the temperature does not rise above +25°C. In the first decade of the month, it is still warm and comfortable on the coast, and the water in the sea has a temperature of +23°C. But by mid-September, the daytime temperature drops to +22°C, and sea water cools down to +20°C. And although the weather on the Costa Brava still allows you to sunbathe in September, but the rain every now and then reminds you that the season is ending.

The Costa Dorada is a little further south than the Costa Brava, and this immediately affects the weather. Even heat, which is established in June, will last until the very end of September. So the first month of autumn will be marked by air temperature +25-28°С and water +23-24°С. The weather is especially favorable for family holidays in September, since the shallow sea, which easily warms up to + 25 ° С, is added to all other benefits. Sunny weather on the Costa Dorada is occasionally overshadowed by rain, but the precipitation is too short to remember them.

Autumn on the Costa Blanca does not betray its presence. The temperature in Alicante reaches +30°C and only by the end of September will drop to +23-25°C. And the sea in September is even warmer than in June – about +24°C. The beginning of autumn on the Costa Blanca does without rain, even a gloomy sky is a rarity. And if you are looking for a children’s health resort in Spain, then it is in the resorts of the Costa Blanca. The local climate is considered very beneficial for children.

The resorts of Costa Calida are often mentioned as part of the Costa Blanca, and not in vain – the climate of these places is almost the same. But why not remember the “children’s sea” – the Mar Menor lagoon, where the water is always warmer than in the Mediterranean Sea?

Our story has reached Andalusia – it is believed that the best weather in the resorts of Spain in September is inherent in this hot region. But there is an important nuance that needs to be taken into account when going on vacation with a child. Indeed, at the beginning of autumn on the southern shores of the country there is fabulous weather – the heat is leaving, and thermometers finally show only + 25-27 ° С. But the sea temperature, alas, is not encouraging: the currents of the Atlantic cool the water to + 20-21 ° C – you won’t be able to swim with children.

On the other hand, it is possible to catch the summer heat in the resorts of Costa Tropical and Costa de Almeria – they are located east of the Costa del Sol, and the Atlantic currents do not reach there. The water temperature here can reach + 25 ° C, and the whole September will keep the summer heat, so the weather favors a beach holiday.

When looking at what the weather is like in Spain in September, it’s important not to lose sight of the islands. Mallorca, for example, does not even think about saying goodbye to summer. During the day, the thermometers often rise to + 30 ° C, and even by the end of the month it does not get colder than + 25 ° C. And the water in the sea is just a delight: +25°С at the beginning of September and +23°С at the end. The weather in Mallorca occasionally scares with rain, but the sky does not frown for long.

    Mallorca

The island of Tenerife is warmed by the sun almost all year round, and September and October can be assigned the status of “highest summer”. In early autumn, the water in the ocean off the coast of the Canaries reaches a maximum temperature of +23-25°C. The air warms up to + 25-28 ° С, so get ready to forget what time of the year your holiday in Tenerife fell on.

Is good weather important only for a beach holiday? It is quite possible that it is not serene seascapes that attract you to Spain, but excursions to famous museums. For you – an overview of the September weather in the capital and major cities.

With the advent of September, Madrid comes to life: after the summer stuffiness, when the temperature goes off scale, a blessed coolness sets in (however, the air is still warmed up to +25-29°C). It rains a few times a month, but they are only welcome.

In Barcelona, the beginning of autumn can be seen in two ways: the beaches are empty and the football stadiums are full. But the weather in Barcelona remains summer – all the same + 25-26 ° С. Unless the sky frowns more often than usual, and sometimes a strong wind breaks down with rain. For lovers of a beach holiday, this is a hindrance, and cloudy days do not interfere with excursions.

Valencia in September and don’t think about the cold. Be sure: after the excursions, good weather will beckon you to the beach. And how to resist when the air temperature is +27°С, and the water is +25°С? It almost never rains, and it’s up to you to choose – to explore the sights of Valencia or sunbathe on its beaches.

In the second half of September, accommodation is offered at reduced prices, delighting connoisseurs of the velvet season with promotions and packages for families. For example, on the Costa Blanca at this time, you can profitably rent a hotel room with an all-inclusive system and a whole range of entertainment for children. However, much more pleasant prices in September in Spain are offered by small hotels or apartments. You can refuse to eat at the hotel restaurant and get acquainted with a variety of delicious Spanish cuisine in local taverns.
In September, one can note a drop in prices for flights to Spain. But at the same time, by the end of the month, the number of flights is significantly reduced.

Ready to play catch-up with the summer? Then choose and use from the Kidpassage collection.

In October, it provides excellent opportunities for recreation: the weather is no longer hot, the velvet season ends on continental beaches by the middle of the month. Hotels are confidently reducing prices: the influx of tourists is decreasing, rooms are getting cheaper. Beach holidays are still available: in several Mediterranean resorts you can sunbathe, even swim. Mid-autumn is considered the best time for excursions and travel around the country.

Is it profitable to rest in the middle of autumn

When planning a holiday in Spain in October, tourists expect significant savings. Costs largely depend on the location of the holiday destination: Barcelona, Madrid are still expensive cities to live in. The cost of accommodation in hotels of beach resorts is significantly reduced. The fares of air carriers are “cheaper”, the prices of souvenir shops, restaurant menus and excursion services are becoming more democratic. The total expenses of tourists, compared with the peak tourist season, are reduced by about 20%.

Of course, when buying a tour to Spain, you won’t find summer heat in October, but you will still get wonderful impressions. The busy beach season is coming to an end, the Spaniards have a rest in autumn from noisy travel companies. In cities and towns, everyday life flows peacefully, which will be interesting to watch for an inquisitive traveler.

    Autumn pleasures: beaches, swimming, fruits

In the south of mainland Spain, it remains warm during the day – up to +25°C; in the north it is cooler – up to +19°C The beach season on the Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol continues at the beginning of the month: the Mediterranean Sea does not have time to cool down by October. The temperature around +23°C allows swimming, but it is not always comfortable to go out to the windy shore from the water. With children, it is better to relax in Benidorm: thanks to the protection of mountain ranges, a special microclimate is preserved there without cold air currents and rains. It is often stormy near Santander – it is cold near the water, waves and heavy winds crash on the coast.

The weather in Spain in October is far from being as sunny and dry as in summer: it is rainy in Galicia, cool in the evenings in Madrid – the temperature does not exceed +14°C. Warm at night only in Seville – up to + 18 ° C.

Mid-autumn is marked by the harvest of the fruits of the “queen of the subtropics” – cherimoya. This plant is called “cream apple” – the taste of ripe fruit resembles creamy ice cream. Rich harvests of cherimoya are collected by Malaga, large plantations grow along the Costa Tropical. Prices for pomegranates are falling, grapefruits, lemons and clementines are ripening again. The peach season is coming to an end, but all green shops and fruit fairs offer persimmons and quince. In October, you can buy the ripest melons, fragrant apples, ripe sunny grapes.

    October holidays

The main event of the autumn is Día de la Hispanidad – Fiesta Hispanidad. The most important national holiday in all Spanish regions (except Catalonia) is celebrated on October 12. This is a double event – official and religious: the Catholics of Spain celebrate the Day of Our Lady of Pilar.

On the 12th military parades are held in the cities. It is best to go to a holiday in Madrid – there you can see the king greeting the participants in the procession. Zaragoza greets tourists with a special atmosphere, where the most colorful Fiestas del Pilar festival takes place with a massive costumed procession, theatrical performances, and a parade of huge puppets. On the 24th Cordoba celebrates Saint Raphael’s Day. The San Rafael holiday program includes worship services, concerts, folk festivals.

At the beginning of the month, the Flamenco Festival ends every two years in all Seville tablaos. Barcelona, Sitges, San Sebastian and Valencia host October themed film festivals.

    The best sightseeing destinations

Medieval Spanish towns, fortresses and castles are especially beautiful in autumn. If you love seafood, Pontevedra invites you. During the first two weeks of the month, the city welcomes culinary connoisseurs. The Fiesta del Marisco festival is held here. The best Galician chefs prepare dishes from the freshest lobsters, shrimps, lobsters, all kinds of fish.

If you dream of seeing a bullfight, it’s time to go to one of the main Spanish arenas: the bullfighting season is coming to an end. Pamplona, Malaga, Valencia, Alicante, Cordoba, Benalmadena await connoisseurs of the art of bullfighters, the capital’s arenas will also be full of spectators.

October is a great time to visit the picturesque mountains and ancient cathedrals of Seville. The rich houses and monasteries of Bilbao enchant tourists with their mysterious autumn beauty. The museums of Madrid and Barcelona are warmly welcomed by visitors, where in autumn you can get without any queues. But shoppers should not expect profitable discounts: the big cities of Spain have finished the sales season.

Where to go, what objects to visit, you will learn by reading the reviews of experienced travelers.

*** We rested in Malaga for a week – it was warm, just not like autumn, roses were blooming all around, but we didn’t swim much – the water was still cool. We looked at the Alcazaba fortress and the stunning Cathedral, went to Ronda.

***10 was in El Grove for a seafood festival. I love fish in general, but there is a fabulous abundance, only very crowded, just crowds of tourists. We tried Galician octopus with local white wine, delicious!

The most useful tips from experienced travelers:

    • Thieves and pickpockets often operate in cities, so it is better to keep personal belongings close to you, throw a backpack over your stomach. You should not get money on the street, and you should hide your wallet and credit cards deeper in your bag.
    • Tipping in the country is not at all obligatory, but desirable, you can leave 2 … 10% to an employee in a restaurant, hotel or taxi. Sometimes the institution can include them in the check, this must be carefully checked.
    • Entrance to clubs and bars is paid for almost everyone, girls rarely get a discount, but sometimes they hold a promotion and give one drink for free.
    • On the streets, in addition to thieves, you can meet beggars, and some are cunning, asking for help, but while the tourist is distracted, the beggar’s partner steals personal belongings.
    • Entrance to many museums and attractions is paid, but there are days when you can get there for free, you need to check on the official websites of cultural sites.
    • Public transport in many cities is cheap, even in Barcelona a tourist will pay no more than 2 euros for travel, while there are no conductors and turnstiles, you can ride for free, but you need to understand that a large fine of 500 euros is imposed for this.
    • It should be understood that the Spaniards are friendly and open people, they are always happy to help a tourist, so even if the traveler does not speak Spanish, they will try to understand him in sign language. You just have to be polite with the local population, smile more often, don’t be rude and don’t break the rules.

Puerto del Carmen, Canary Islands – October Weather

What’s the weather like in Puerto del Carmen in October

Autumn is a transition season in Lanzarote, as temperatures gradually begin to cool and the dry, arid landscape is transformed by a few millimetres of rainfall in preparation for the comparatively colder, wetter winter months. It’s still a good time to visit, as with peak season passed, it is far less crowded and conditions remain warm and temperate with plenty of sunshine hours.

    Temperature

Temperatures are likely to be slightly milder in October in Puerto del Carmen than preceding months. The UV index rating falls to a very moderate 7, the average daily temperature is 18C, with highs of 21C and lows of 15C. The average temperature on Lanzarote as a whole is 23C, with highs of 26C and lows of 19C.

And the hottest temperature recorded in the area at this time is 36C. It’s likely to be slightly colder in coastal resorts, compared to those inland, though the south of the island is still hotter and maximum daytime temperatures are often around 27C or 28C. Similar conditions are seen on the other Canary Islands, though Tenerife and Fuerteventura are slightly colder with average temperatures of between 21C and 22C.

    Rain

There is usually around 7mm of rainfall over four days in Puerto del Carmen, which is still a relatively small amount of precipitation and shouldn’t spoil any plans to sunbathe. The rainy season is really beginning on the other Canaries in October; Tenerife sees rainfall averages of 41mm, and La Palma 40mm over 7 days.

    Humidity

The humidity is still relatively high at 74% in Puerto del Carmen, though this is quite moderate it is higher than seen on other Canaries (the humidity is only 64% in Tenerife, despite much higher rainfall averages).

October is the start of the weaker dust storm season on Lanzarote, when dust from the Sahara is blown across the island, often followed by a short, refreshing shower. However, in October any dust storms are likely to be very mild; the wind picks up and the sky will look slightly hazy. They shouldn’t impact on any activities. If you have any conditions such as asthma or other respiratory complaints, which may be negatively impacted by the dust, it might be best to avoid the beach and other outdoor activities at these times, however.

Puerto del Carmen Hotels in October

The Hyde Park Lane Bungalows are an excellent choice for self-catering accommodation in Puerto del Carmen. Unlike some of the apartment complexes, they are a little more spacious and have a more relaxed feel. With a restaurant, supermarket, pool, tennis court, spa and solarium, they are also a little more upmarket and offer a more luxurious experience.

If you don’t fancy self-catering, try the four star Hipotels La Geria. The restaurant serves a range of international cuisine, and during the day light snacks are served on the terrace and by the pool. There’s a gorgeous pool area, where you can even order a poolside massage to help you relax! The gym and tennis courts are well maintained, and there’s plenty of evening entertainment for the whole family.

Puerto del Carmen Beach for October

There are three excellent beaches, all with Blue Flag status, in Puerto del Carmen, however, while temperatures in the autumn months are still mild enough to enjoy a little sunbathing, you may need to plan activities and excursions for colder days and to fill your time during any showers.

If you enjoy a hike, Playa El Risco is probably the wildest beach on the island. It’s pretty difficult to access, which ensures it’s generally pretty quiet. The easiest way is by boat from Orzola, or a one-hour hike down a steep cliff path. Be warned, because it’s so remote, there are no amenities here. No bars or restaurants, and no toilets or banana boats.

    Bars and Restaurants

Charlie’s Bar in Centro Atlantico, the main nightlife district in Puerto del Carmen, offers live music and bands and a club atmosphere. They regularly host salsa and flamenco nights and it’s guaranteed to be lively.

For cocktails and something a little different, try Africa Puerto Del Carmen on Calle Nicaragua. They have a fantastic range of cocktails, and their frozen drinks are delightful. They also regularly host acoustic and live music nights, when they bar can really be quite lively.

Friends Bar has very reasonably priced drinks, but it’s really the food that draws in a crowd. The menu is traditional English pub food, but it’s very well presented and makes the most of local ingredients.

Things to do in Puerto del Carmen in October

There’s plenty to do in Puerto del Carmen itself, with shops and beaches and restaurants, the arcades, casinos and spas. However, for something a little further afield (and quieter), visit La Graciosa, a tiny island off the North tip of Lanzarote. It has no roads but offers incredible cycling and hiking opportunities. You can take a ferry from Orzola, or book a trip from your resort.

Cueva de Los Verdes or The Green Caves is one of the most interesting volcanic structures on the island. As far back as the Guanches (an aboriginal people who inhabited the Canary Islands) the Green Caves have been used as a place of refuge. The Green Caves remain quite unspoilt, and the lighting is atmospheric.

El Grifo Wine Museum in Masdache is the island’s oldest bodega and an excellent opportunity to learn more about Lanzarote’s unique method of viniculture. The views over the vineyards and volcanic landscape are stunning, and the museum often hosts tasting sessions and wine lectures.

If you’re looking for something a little different, hire a car and take a windmill tour of the island. Known as ‘molino de viento’, windmills were once integral to the agricultural life here. Originally used for grinding maize, barley and other grains (called gofio), on the coast they were also used to pump sea water for salt making. There are remains of these traditional agricultural markers in Guime, San Bartolome (one of which is still working) and Teguise.

Weather data for Puerto Del Carmen was collected from the MERRA-2 project from NASA, which used a climate model combined with historical data from weather stations around the world to estimate what the conditions were like for every point on the Earth.

For all data based on historical data, we’ve averaged the data from the past 11 years (2010-2020). For example, for the hourly temperature at 10am, we’ve looked at the temperature at 10am on every day in October (e.g., October 1, October 2, etc. in 2010, 2011, etc.) and took the arithmetic mean. We did not smooth the data, so for example, our daily temperature line will have some randomness due to the fact that weather is random in the first place.

Why is it so warm in November? Latest UK weather forecast and what’s causing the balmy conditions this week

The UK and much of Europe have experienced warmer-than-average temperatures in October and November.

According to provisional figures from the Met Office, the UK had its seventh-warmest October since records began in 1884.

France, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia, Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg all recorded their warmest or joint-warmest Octobers.

It comes after an extremely hot summer, which saw temperatures surpass 40ºC in the UK for the first time ever.

But why has it been so warm, and what is the upcoming forecast? Here is everything you need to know.

    Why is it so warm?

The warm weather is due to air flowing up from the south-west. A spokesperson for the Met Office told i: “With low pressure out to the west, with the way the jet stream is positioned at the moment, it’s helping to spin these weather systems in towards the UK.

“What it’s also doing though, is helping develop the kind of south-westerly airflow which is spinning in some of these periods of wet and windy weather, but also the warmer kind of continental air over the UK much more than average for the time of year.”

STV News weather presenter Philip Petrie added: “The main topic of conversation this week is the milder-than-average conditions we are experiencing with temperatures well above average for the time of year.

“This is all down to the fact we are in a south-westerly airflow, and if we track the source of the winds they are coming from the very warm mid-Atlantic.”

What is the latest weather forecast?

The Met Office is predicting a mild and relatively dry weekend, before the weather turns more unsettled next week.

“The mild theme will continue through the weekend, and high pressure will lead to calmer weather too. However, the lighter winds mean that mist and fog may linger throughout the day in some areas and therefore sunshine could be limited,” the Met Office said.

Forecaster Alex Deakin said: “A strong jet stream often leads to an unsettled, usually wet and windy theme with low pressures approaching the UK. These low pressures have the potential to become quite volatile, bringing some very windy weather to the UK throughout next week, so it’s important to keep up to date with the forecast over the coming days.”

Here is the Met Office forecast for the coming days:

    Friday night

Cloud and outbreaks of mainly light rain persisting across some central areas. Clearer and colder across northern Scotland with patchy fog developing across central and southern England.

    Saturday

Fog and low cloud slowly lifting across the south with some sunny spells developing across England and Wales. Cloud and rain moving north across Scotland and Northern Ireland. Very mild.

    Sunday to Tuesday

Early fog and low cloud on Sunday lifting and breaking for many, with sunny spells developing, and becoming exceptionally mild in places.
