latest reviews. Holidays in October in Tenerife
Tenerife is not only the largest island in the entire Canary archipelago. It is also considered one of the most visited resorts in the world. The reason for this is its unique weather. It is like spring here all year round, that is, the temperature does not fundamentally change. In winter it is not cold, and in summer there is no heat. Accordingly, Tenerife in October is a green paradise, which is surrounded by the warm waters of the ocean. About what kind of weather is here in the middle of autumn, and how you can have fun here at this time, read the article.
Climatic conditions
The temperature in Tenerife in October always fluctuates between 23-28 degrees. At the same time, the lower indicator is a rarity here and is more suitable for night time. It is important to note that on the island, fluctuations between daytime and nighttime temperatures are almost imperceptible. Moreover, it happens that the night here is warmer than the day, which makes it possible to swim in the ocean and walk until the morning. If the thermometer rises above 28, you still won’t feel strong heat. It is always very warm and humid here, but it never gets hot.
Tenerife weather in October: reviews and impressions
All travelers who went to the largest Canary Island in the middle of autumn claim that the bright sun shines here almost every day. The chance of rainfall is very low. Even if sometimes it rains a little, then literally in an hour everything dries up, you can again go to the beach, sunbathe and swim in the ocean. A large number of sunny days makes it possible not only to lie on the sand and listen to the sound of the surf, but also to travel around the island. There are a lot of natural attractions, as well as monuments of colonial architecture since the conquest of the Canary archipelago by the Spaniards.
Beach holiday highlights
If you visit Tenerife in October, you have a great opportunity to see the legendary beaches without stumbling upon a huge stream of tourists. During this period, there are much fewer people here than in summer, because all recreation areas are relatively empty. The island is famous for the fact that the shores that belong to the hotels are covered with white sand. It was brought mainly from Africa so that vacationers can feel most comfortable. As for the wild beaches, they are all covered with black volcanic sand. This is natural for this island, in the center of which a volcano with red-hot lava is still seething. The scenery of the black sand beaches is simply amazing, so don’t forget to take as many souvenir photos as you can here.
If you go on vacation in Tenerife in October, you can get there to the most famous holiday of the New World – the discovery of America. It is held on October 12 and reminds us of how Christopher Columbus discovered New Earths in 1492. On this day, banks and shops do not work, as all the streets of the island are filled with local residents who celebrate and relax. Also in October there is a magical festival. It is held in the capital of the island in the theater “Gimera”. Along with it, the folklore festival, which takes place in the province of Adeje, is very interesting.
How travelers have fun here
These events are not visited by all vacationers who come to Tenerife in October. Feedback from people who visited this resort in the fall tells us that surfing, diving, snorkeling and water skiing are very popular here. It is only important to find something to your liking from all that is offered here, and choose the most suitable place for it. There are open beaches where it is always windy and high waves rise. Windsurfers and water skiers improve their skills here. In quiet bays, where it is always calm, you can get acquainted with the underwater flora and fauna of the Canary Islands. All resorts here are popular walks on yachts and boats.
Pricing
Many people think that visiting Tenerife in October is cheap and affordable. In fact, this resort at any time of the year is slightly overpriced (compared to Egypt, Turkey or Greece) precisely because of its unique climate. At any time of the year it is warm, sunny and moderately humid. The weather is never too cold, windy or hot. Because there are no such seasons that open or close on the island. Tenerife in October is the same as in April, May or February.
October is the time to bask in late sun in southern Europe, where temperatures are still hovering in the low 20Cs. Or stay closer to home and enjoy the mellow autumn weather in Britain, perhaps staying in a cosy pub with rooms or coastal cottage. Wherever you choose to have a holiday in October, these ideas will surely stir some inspiration.
Crete
You can enjoy the sun-warmed waters of the Mediterranean well into October, and you’ll have them within walking distance if you stay at Villa Sfakaki, about 10km from Rethymno on Crete’s northern coast. Booked through Oliver’s Travels, the villa is set in a village of the same name and has three bedrooms, a pool and plenty of sea views, including from the covered dining terrace. Look out for sea turtles on Sfakaki Beach, and there’s a regular bus service that takes you into Rethymno if you want to explore further. Sleeping six, it costs £1,280 for seven nights from 15 October. Flights are extra.
Spain
Now that the intense heat of the summer has faded, the idea of a walking holiday in Andalusia becomes infinitely more appealing. Inntravel has a seven-night self-guided walking holiday based in a friendly guesthouse in the “white village” of Grazalema, where you have the choice of daily walks in and around Grazalema Natural Park. Choose easy or more challenging walks through the mountains, valleys and cork forests, and you’ll have a hire car if you want to get to know the wider region. Seven nights start at £610pp and including accommodation, breakfast, two dinners, three picnics and car hire. Flights are extra but can be arranged.
Sicily
Base yourself in the countryside at Torre Marabino and you’ll have some of eastern Sicily’s loveliest baroque towns within an easy drive. Don’t miss the chance to visit Modica, Ragusa and Scicli while staying at this friendly boutique hotel surrounded by farmland near the village of Ispica. Chill out by the pool after dining on the hotel’s organic produce from its own farm. Sunvil has knocked 10 per cent off a week’s stay Torre Marabino, which costs from £873pp including flights, car hire and breakfast.

Northumberland
Blast away the cobwebs with long walks along crescent-shaped Beadnell Beach, part of Northumberland’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It’s only a short walk from the pretty fishing village of Beadnell, where you’ll find the sturdy stone Sanctuary Cottage. It’s just the place for cosy evenings in front of the wood-burning fireplace. Inside are three bedrooms (two doubles and a bunk room), a large flagstone country kitchen-diner and an enclosed garden that’s perfect for up to two dogs. Booked through Cottages in Northumberland, it’s available for seven nights from 29 October for £810.
Lanzarote
Lanzarote’s lunar landscapes make this Canary Island one of the most starkly beautiful. Take a tour of the Timanfaya National Park to get the full volcanic experience of the island. Classic Collection has a week’s B&B at the four-star Hotel Costa Calero, near Puerto del Carmen, which features four outdoor pools to go with its thalassotherapy spa and lush tropical gardens. Prices start at £779pp and include flights, private transfers and breakfast.
Devon
Surround yourself with the tranquil countryside of East Devon when you stay at the Linney. One of three cottages within a converted barn near Colyton, this property sleeps four in two bedrooms, and there’s a large living-dining area and a shared games room. Outside there’s an acre of lawn to relax in, and where up to two dogs can roam safely; and you’re only a short drive from the coast at Seaton. Helpful Holidays offers a week’s self-catering from 15 October costs £394, down from £601.

Lanzarote in october Autumn surf trip to the Canaries
I recently returned from our 10-day surf trip to Lanzarote from late September to early October. On the skin I still have the sign of a tan and in my mind the memory of perfect waves and glassy and of the crystalline colors that the island has given us is still vivid. This was not the first time in Lanzarote. If I have to be honest, I’ve lost count of the times I’ve been there, but it was the first time in the fall. I have been to Lanzarote many times in July and August, when the wind is blowing hard and Famara is invaded by kitesurfers. Many times I have been to Lanzarote in April and May, when the wind begins to blow more decisively and is often accompanied by very respectable swell, residues of the past winter season. And I’ve been to Lanzarote, as well as to Fuerteventura, several times even in December and January when the swells can be huge and the winds often blow violently even from the south east. For this reason, before arriving I thought I knew well what to expect, to know the island well in all its nuances and in all conditions. I was wrong.
Lanzarote in the fall was an unexpected surprise for me.
Lanzarote in September – October is the perfect destination for a surf trip with all the ingredients you usually look for when you start with the surfboard, namely: hot, little wind and, of course, waves.
The heat was the real surprise. Not that in Lanzarote in the other months of the year it is cold, but it is difficult to enter the water without a wetsuit, even in August. In summer very often the wind accumulates clouds right above Famara beach, on the slopes of Risco. Strong winds and clouds mean that the days can be cooler than what one would expect, not to mention the water that even in summer is pretty cool and always requires at least one wetsuit. In winter then the temperatures are even cooler and, although they always remain decidedly pleasant, they are certainly not those of the Caribbean. After accumulating heat throughout the summer, the ocean water is incredibly hot in October, so that you can safely sit in costume. The days are clear, the sky is cloudless and the sea is often completely glassy. The air is warm, with temperatures that can easily exceed 30 ° during the day, and remain high even in the evening.
During the 10 days of our vacation we found quite varied conditions. As soon as we arrived we received a rather small swell but with a good period, while the wind was completely absent. The long beach of Famara for a couple of days has become a huge playground with easy and amusing long right and left sides, which only got worse with very low tide. I simply could not have asked for better to try my new table and get comfortable!
The following days a larger NW swell entered . When the waves are over a certain extent it often happens that the beach becomes impractical: powerful double head bombs that are hardly open with that measure, rather they are mostly close out, so much current and too much, too much foam. In these conditions those who have the necessary level move to San Juan or to the Saint , while those like me who are not up to it, wait for the right moment to bathe near the pier, where it is often more sheltered and practicable.
Towards the middle of our holiday, a bit of wind arrived . Probably it was more than anything else thermal, due to the great heat of those days. For three or four days, punctual towards the lunch hour, a beautiful breeze stretched between 15 and 20 knots that accompanied the waves of those days gave us the opportunity to have a lot of fun with kitesurfing. Making surf in the morning and kite surfing in the afternoon is simply a dream for those who love both of these sports! A gift even more appreciated because completely unexpected given that no forecast contemplated it. But then, if there is one thing that is unreliable in the Canaries is the wind forecast!
The last few days the wind has completely subsided and the sea is back glassy giving us back small, long and funny waves, especially at sunset that it had found to coincide with the half-full tide, so as to make us admire from the water the red sun fire setting between the two volcanoes in the direction of the Saint.
The balance at the end was 10 days out of 10 surfing, with many days of excellent sessions both in the morning and in the afternoon. Certainly not all the days were memorable, often there was a bit of a breeze to disturb the waves, some days it was really small, others too big … but in the end the autumn is confirmed as an excellent time for surfing to the Canaries.
Different speech for kitesurfing . Autumn is the least windy time of the year in Lanzarote, as well as in Fuerteventura. This does not mean that it is impossible to find a bit of wind, but if you are planning a trip exclusively for kitesurfing, I would exclude Lanzarote at the beginning of autumn. The average of wind days is generally abundantly below 50%. If, however, as in our case, you are looking for a vacation in which to combine surfing and kitesurfing, possibly in the heat, not too far away and with a really small budget, then Lanzarote in late September / early October is really a great option . .. and the it is even more if, like us, you travel with your family perhaps with children, even children.
Where to stay: Famara is undoubtedly the hub for surfing and kitesurfing. The island is not large and with a car from Famara it is easy to move to all the other spots on the island. Famara offers two different solutions: apartments in the center of the village or bungalows on the long beach. The Surf Houses in the village are also very popular and are the best solution if you travel alone or with friends. Here are some of our favorite accommodations in Famara . In Famara there are no hotels or resorts … if you are looking for a solution in hotel formula I recommend Puerto del Carmen, a very pretty and lively tourist town in a fairly central location and therefore convenient for getting anywhere.
I recommend you also read this article with some ideas for activities and excursions to do in Lanzarote when you are not in the water, even with the whole family, including children.

Weather conditions for visiting Barcelona in October
What is good about Spain is the opportunity to comfortably relax in one of its cities at any time of the year. If it so happened that the vacation is scheduled for mid-autumn, and the desire to visit Barcelona has not decreased, we will please you – the weather in Barcelona in October is still not as autumnal as in central Russia. The text below presents the average statistical data on changes in air and sea temperatures throughout October.
If you already miss summer and want to feel its last touches, it is better to visit Barcelona in the first 10 days of October. As a rule, at this time the temperature here is set in the range of 20-27 degrees, i.e. ideal conditions for a comfortable stay are created: not hot and not cold. The sea also does not have time to cool below 23 degrees – of course, not fresh milk, but you can still swim. From about the 10th, the air temperature begins to decrease. This is especially noticeable at night, when it drops to 10-15 degrees.
Atmospheric phenomena
Precipitation in the form of rain is possible for approximately 4-5 days in October. Therefore, we advise you to take an umbrella with you – just in case. But with all this, for more than half of the month the sky is clear, for 10 days it is slightly cloudy or cloudy. The weather in Barcelona in October is conducive not so much to a beach holiday as to familiarization with local attractions, of which there are an unimaginable number in this city.
What to do?
Do not despair, even in October you can have a good rest in Barcelona. Do you want to soak up the sun on one of the beaches, swim in the sea? Then better plan your vacation for the first half of the month. If the purpose of the trip is to wander around the city and enjoy the view of architectural monuments, then the whole month is at your disposal. But the weather in Barcelona in November, which we will talk about in the next article, will not allow you to choose! To give you a better idea of the October weather conditions in this city, we have compiled a summary table with a range of temperature values.

Where to relax on the sea in October: weather and prices 2019
Where to relax on the sea in October abroad? Which beach resorts to choose when the summer season is over, and the winter migration to Thailand, Vietnam, Sri Lanka has not yet begun? A selection of places in Europe, Asia and Africa where the sun is warm in October and the sea is warm! Also prices 2019- in the review of Eurotraveler.ru.
Mid-autumn is obviously not the most common time of the year for holidays. Children in school, students in universities, parents earn a living. Some plans for a short November weekend are spinning in my head, but they are still so far away…
In general, not leisure time… for many. And therefore, October is the best time to go to warmer climes for those who can afford it. Prudently carved out a few vacation days and is not bound by any obligations.
Where to go in Europe
Do not reject southern Greece – in particular, the island of Santorini. Firstly, accommodation and tours are a little cheaper compared to summer. And secondly, here they still enjoy the sun and the sea. And they sneer at the Athenians and Cretans, who put on sweaters, shivering from the north wind.
Yes, it is not hot in Santorini in October: only up to +23-25, and rains are more likely than in summer. But the water did not have time to move away from the summer heat and warmed up to + 22-23. Which means you can swim!
You will say that there are few places for swimming in Santorini, and even those are crowded?! At this time of the year, there are free sun loungers even on the sandy beaches of Perissa.
There is a chance that you will be unlucky and it will turn out to be a little colder than expected (you can swim, but be careful))) But in any case, you were THERE! We saw these terraces and snow-white houses, windmills. The monstrous beauty of the volcanic caldera, the turquoise sea and tiny cruise liners, leaving a thin line of foam behind the stern.
We drank fine local wine and watched the sunsets. There are no better ones anywhere in the Mediterranean!
The cost of a week-long vacation on Satorini in early October can hardly be called budget: from 90 thousand for two, subject to departure from Moscow. But that’s a massive 25K cheaper than in August!
Crete and Rhodes
You can count on a meeting with the delayed summer by choosing another Greek island, Crete. Water temperature and air temperature are compared at +22-23 °C, and only by the end of the month can we expect precipitation. In the west of the island they are more frequent, and therefore we do not go to Chania. Only Heraklion, and better – Sitia.
Rhodes is located on the Turkish coast and therefore the climate there is a little hotter: during the day, on average, about + 24-25. Precipitation is significant when compared with May-September, when they were simply expected like manna from heaven, but 4-5 rainy days in a month can hardly seriously spoil the holiday mood. Sea water is heated to + 22-24.
Cyprus
A little warmer in October on another Mediterranean island, Cyprus. If in July and August you shouldn’t go out into the open during the day (up to +50 is not a joke!), Then in the epicenter of autumn, the air temperature of +25-27 is a standard phenomenon. The rains are in no hurry to reveal their sad nature, and the water area is warmed up to excellent + 24-26.
What you need for holidays with children! If you risk missing school in the middle of the first quarter…
Ayia Napa and Protaras are traditionally the sunniest places in Cyprus.
Cyprus – geographically Asia. But in fact – Europe! It can be considered that a visa-free direction for Russians (a request for a voucher is submitted by e-mail) and inexpensive in comparison with Greece or Italy.
Italy and Spain
It can be warm in Italy in October – in Taormina the water area is sometimes warmed up to + 22-23 – but the situation is spoiled by complete ambiguity with precipitation. Lucky – it will be relatively dry. No – you will have to walk the whole vacation in rubber boots and a raincoat. In Sardinia, it happens that it pours so that parked cars after the rain set off for free swimming.
In general, Spain is cool, even on the Costa del Sol you don’t want to get into the water too much. Mallorca is nicer (+22-24 in the air), but still rainy.
The Canary Islands are different! In the midst of autumn, it is quite possible to sunbathe and swim here: up to +26 on land and up to +22-24 in water. Tenerife or Gran Canaria, Lanzarote or Fuerteventura – it doesn’t matter, it will be sunny and dry everywhere!
Asia
You can go to Antalya (Kemer, Side, Belek) if you didn’t have time to visit there in the summer – the October weather on the Turkish Riviera will not give any particular reasons for complaints. Warm, but not hot (+24-28 °C), mostly sunny, the sea is warmed up to +24 °C. By the end of the month it may rain!
No reason to skimp on places like Bodrum and Marmaris, Fethiye and Oludeniz. Up to +25 in air and +22-23 in water. All this against the backdrop of a low probability of rain and mostly cloudless skies. Tired of swimming – you can always go to Ephesus and Pamukkale, and even Istanbul.
Eilat and Dubai
The Israeli resort of Eilat can hardly be included in any list of inexpensive destinations – one cannot count on significant discounts in almost any month of the year. But weather conditions force to consider the option in all seriousness.
The heat drops from the monstrous summer +40 to acceptable +28-30, the sea warms up to +27. Swimming shown – diving recommended.
Holidays in Dubai, by definition, cannot be called inexpensive. But in October, at least the unbearable summer heat subsides, and the appearance outside the air-conditioned premises no longer threatens with an immediate blow. It is rather stuffy: up to +35, the Persian Gulf is heated up to +30.
Goa
The Indian resort of Goa during the indicated period observes a significant decline in precipitation. Breathe out and get ready for the winter season!
Stuffy and hot: up to +35 and high humidity, it rains no more than 5-6 times a month. The Indian Ocean keeps the temperature of fresh milk, and you can get out of the water only for eating. However, holidays in Goa in November are more in demand due to the low probability of precipitation.
North Africa
Egypt should be put aside for now, as a trip here in 2019 is fraught with certain risks. Not associated with climatic disasters … Really cheap, and the weather in the same Sharm or Hurghada is hotter than Eilat. But the current situation in the country leaves much to be desired: will it be possible to relax if you think about security all the time?
But Tunisia is worth considering. There is no summer heat, autumn has not really come into its own yet. The cost of tours allows you not to pay much attention to the likelihood of rain (the sunniest is on Djerba), the thermometer will show numbers from +22 to +28 even at the end of October, the water area will not cool below +22.
With over 300 days of sunshine a year, North Cyprus certainly enjoys some wonderful weather.

Holidays in Cyprus in October: weather, what to do
[dropcap]К[/dropcap]What is the weather like in Cyprus in October? A question that worries all travelers who are going to the island in the fall. Will the rains or cool water in the sea ruin your holiday mood? The October days are quite suitable for traveling to Cyprus, because at this time the holiday season has not yet ended.
Contents
1 End of the season – a good time to relax
2 Air temperature in October in the resorts of Cyprus
3 Water temperature in Cyprus in October

-6 good end of the season for recreation
Experienced travelers agree that the best period for an autumn vacation in Cyprus is September. At this time, the air temperature is most comfortable, it is no longer as hot as in summer. It will also be comfortable to swim in the sea, the water temperature is optimal at this time. In addition, many families with schoolchildren and students go home by the beginning of September. The beaches become freer, although in summer it is quite possible to find a place for sunbathing.
But holidays in Cyprus in October also have their advantages. This period is considered the end of the holiday season. Prices for hotel rooms are falling. And if so, then a ticket to Cyprus can be purchased at a bargain price. It is better to book a hotel and plane tickets in advance: then you can save even more money. Seasonal price reduction is the advantage for which many tourists consciously choose October for their holidays in Cyprus.
Air temperature in October in the resorts of Cyprus
The territory of Cyprus is large enough, but the climate is mild throughout. In general, weather forecasters predict standard weather this fall. The temperature in Cyprus in October during the day remains around + 27 ° C, that is, it is great for walking and relaxing on the beach. However, by the night it can drop to +20°C, which is not so bad if there is no rain, but you need to take warm clothes to the resort.
If we look at individual resorts, we can find some differences in weather conditions. But in general they are insignificant. This is the daily temperature that awaits tourists at popular Cypriot resorts:
Paphos +26°C,
Limassol +27°C,
Protaras +27°C,
Ayia Napa +27°C,
Larnaca +28°C,
Nicosia +27°C .
Night temperature fluctuates in all resorts from +20°C to +22°C, sometimes a little lower or higher. Precipitation in October is also low, according to forecasts, only Limassol and Nicosia are at risk. But even there the rains are short-lived, after which the sun usually immediately peeks out and the wet city sidewalks and beaches dry before our eyes.
It is worth noting that such a favorable situation is typical for the first half of the month. The weather in Cyprus at the end of October can bring surprises. And there may be more rain, and the air temperature is lower. But usually, until November, tourists calmly sunbathe and walk along the streets of resort towns both during the day and after sunset.
Despite the heat drop towards mid-autumn, don’t forget to use sunscreen and wear hats. Many tourists neglect this, believing that if it is not so hot, then it is impossible to get heat stroke or sunburn. It turns out that it is still possible! In addition, one should not forget that the air temperature is always estimated in the shade, in the sun the values \u200b\u200bare higher.
Water temperature in Cyprus in October
Despite the difference in weather in Cyprus at the beginning of October and at the end, the water in the sea remains consistently warm. During the sunny summer, it warms up so well that it simply cannot cool down quickly. Temperature values fluctuate within +23…+25°C. This applies to all seaside resorts in Cyprus.
It will not be too comfortable to swim in the sea only when there is a windy day or it starts to rain. Just getting out of the water in such weather will be chilly, it is better to immediately rub well and wrap yourself in a towel. Most often this is possible at the end of the month. On sunny days, the swimming season actively continues, almost the same as in summer.
Even the smallest tourists can enjoy water treatments. Some parents consider the water temperature of +23°C to be insufficient for babies under three years old. Pediatricians insist that this is not the case. You don’t just need to splash in the water for a very long time, “sea baths” for 10-15 minutes are the most useful.
Entertainment program in Cyprus in October
The weather in October-November in Cyprus contributes to an active excursion program. If in summer it is too hot for this, then in autumn the weather becomes comfortable for walks and events.
Tenerife Weather Forecast From 31 October to 6 November |

Tenerife Weather 24 to 30 October The forecast for last week was more or less right – there was a serious amount of rain with roads in La Laguna being flooded whilst parts of the south coast watched a wall of rain approach from the sea. It was quite a bizarre storm which had a clear centre so that the extreme islands had lots of water dropped on them whilst parts of the islands in the centre of the Canarian Archipelago enjoyed hot temperatures and blue skies. The swirling pattern also meant the southern tips of Tenerife and Gran Canaria were affected more than their north coasts. There might not have been the same amount of rain along Tenerife’s north coast but 5m waves battered it badly. By the second half of the week the sea was calm and the weather beautiful. Although on Sunday whilst the north coast was under a blanket of cloud, La Laguna and Santa Cruz were sizzling.
Weather Forecast for Tenerife 31 October to 6 November Whenever I read comments which say things like ‘I’ve been coming to Tenerife in November for years and never seen rain’ I automatically think ‘you’ve been bloody lucky’. The forecast for the coming week is exactly the sort of forecast we expect at some point in November. There should be a lot of sun during the first half of the week but a storm in the North Atlantic passing to the west of the archipelago will bring unstable weather from Wednesday night which means temperatures will drop slightly and rain which will probably affect everywhere on the island over the weekend. I say probably because the path of these Atlantic storms can shift which can result in changes to the forecast. Once again it looks like there will be snow on Teide this week.
Weather in South Tenerife – A hot and sunny start to the week, although there will be some cloud most days. The weekend could see rain (85% possibility between Friday and Sunday) but there should still be sunshine. The week starts with shade temperatures of around 27/28C before dropping slightly 25/27C until the weekend when there’s another slight drop 23/24C.
Weather in North Tenerife – It looks like there will be more cloud than sun in parts of the north of Tenerife with Tuesday afternoon to Thursday being particularly grey and a strong chance of rain from Wednesday afternoon (60%) through to the weekend when rain is certain (100%). Shade temperatures could stay around 21/22C all week.
Weather in East Tenerife – The outlook for Santa Cruz is quite promising with plenty of sunshine and only Thursday looking like a fay when cloud completely dominates. Like everywhere else the possibility of rain rises as the week progresses with definite downpours over the weekend. Temperatures should stay around 21/23C all week.
Weather in South West Tenerife – The south west mostly mirrors the south with plenty of sunny spells but also a decent amount of cloud especially in the second half of the week when rain looks unavoidable (85%). Perfect at the start of the week at around 25C, there could be a drop to around 20/23C from Thursday onwards.
Weather in the Mount Teide Crater – It could be another mixed week in Teide National Park with a mix of sun and cloud until Thursday and then rain, thunder and lightning through to the end of the week. On the summit of Mount Teide the pattern is much the same except instead of rain it could be more snow from Wednesday night through to the weekend. Temperatures should hover between 9 and 12C in the crater and -3 and 3C on the peak of Mount Teide. Monday could see high winds affecting the cable car whilst the snow and rain could prevent it from running from Thursday, so check before travelling to Teide National Park this week.

Where does this data come from?
Weather data for Meloneras was collected from the MERRA-2 project from NASA, which used a climate model combined with historical data from weather stations around the world to estimate what the conditions were like for every point on the Earth.
For all data based on historical data, we’ve averaged the data from the past 11 years (2010-2020). For example, for the hourly temperature at 10am, we’ve looked at the temperature at 10am on every day in October (e.g., October 1, October 2, etc. in 2010, 2011, etc.) and took the arithmetic mean. We did not smooth the data, so for example, our daily temperature line will have some randomness due to the fact that weather is random in the first place.

G-20 summit casts spotlight on Bali’s tourism revival
The Associated Press
November 14, 2022, 2:37 AM
NUSA DUA, Indonesia (AP) — Bali wants the world to know it’s back.
Dozens of world leaders and other dignitaries are traveling to the Indonesian island for the G-20 summit, drawing a welcome spotlight on the revival of the tropical destination’s vital tourism sector.
Tourism is the main source of income on this idyllic “island of the gods,” which is renowned for its tropical beaches, terraced rice paddies, mystical temples and colorful spiritual offerings.
The pandemic hit Bali harder than most places in Indonesia.
Before the pandemic, 6.2 million foreigners arrived in Bali each year. Its lively tourism scene — fueled by hard-partying clubgoers, chilled surfers and spiritual bliss-seekers alike — faded after the first case of COVID-19 was found in Indonesia in March 2020. Restaurants and resorts shut and many workers returned to their villages to try to get by.
Foreign tourist arrivals dropped to only 1 million in 2020, mostly in the first few months of the year, and then to a few dozen in 2021, according to government data. More than 92,000 people employed in tourism lost their jobs and the average occupancy rate of Bali hotels fell below 20%.
The island’s economy contracted 9.3% in 2020 from the year before and shrank further in 2021.
“The coronavirus outbreak has hammered the local economy horribly,” said Dewa Made Indra, regional secretary of Bali province. “Bali is the region with the most severe economic contraction.”
The island is home to more than 4 million people, who are mainly Hindu in the mostly Muslim archipelago nation.
After closing to all visitors early in the pandemic, Bali reopened to Indonesians from other parts of the country in mid-2020. That helped, but then a surge of cases in July 2021 again emptied the island’s normally bustling beaches and streets. Authorities restricted public activities, closed the airport and shuttered all shops, bars, sit-down restaurants, tourist attractions and many other places on the island.
Monkeys deprived of their preferred food source — bananas, peanuts and other goodies given to them by tourists — took to raiding villagers’ homes in their search for something tasty.
The island reopened to domestic travelers a month later, in August, but in all of 2021 only 51 foreign tourists visited.
Things are looking much better now. Shops and restaurants in places like Nusa Dua, a resort area where the G-20 meeting is being held, and in other towns like Sanur and Kuta have reopened, though business is slow and many businesses and hotels are still closed or have scaled back operations.
The reopening of Bali’s airport to international flights and now the thousands coming for the G-20 summit and other related events have raised hopes for a stronger turnaround, Dewa said.
More than 1.5 million foreign tourists and 3.1 million domestic travelers had visited Bali as of October this year.
Embracing a push toward more sustainable models of tourism, Bali has rolled out a digital nomad visa program, called the “second home visa” and due to take effect in December. It’s also among 20 destinations Airbnb recently announced it was partnering with for remote work, also including places in the Caribbean and the Canary Islands.
The recovery will likely take time, even if COVID-19 is kept at bay.
Gede Wirata, who had to lay off most of the 4,000 people working in his hotels, restaurants, clubs and a cruise ship during the worst of the pandemic, found that when it came time to rehire them many had found jobs overseas or in other travel businesses.
The G-20 is a welcome boost. “This is an opportunity for us to rise again from the collapse,” he said.
There’s a way to go.
“The situation has not yet fully recovered, but whatever the case, life has to go on,” said Wayan Willy, who runs a tourist agency in Bali with some friends. Before the pandemic, most of their clients were from overseas. Now it’s mostly domestic tourists. But even those are few and far between.
Bali has suffered greatly in the past. At times, the island’s majestic volcanos have rumbled to life, at times erupting or belching ash.
The dark cloud of the suicide bombings in Bali’s beach town of Kuta that killed 202 mostly foreign tourists in 2002 lingered for years, devastating tourism on the island usually known for its peace and tranquility.
Recent torrential rains brought floods and landslides in some areas, adding to the burdens for communities working to rebuild their tourism businesses.
When the situation started to improve, Yuliani Djajanegara, who runs a business making traditional beauty items like massage oils, natural soaps and aromatherapy products under the brand name Bali Tangi, got back to work.
She had closed her factory in 2020 when orders from hotels, spas and salons in the U.S., Europe, Russia and the Maldives dried up, taking orders for her products from more than 1,000 kilograms (1 ton) to almost nothing.
So far, Djajanegara has rehired 15 of the 60 workers she had been obliged to lay off during the dark days of the pandemic.
She’s hopeful, but cautious.
“Tourism in Bali is like a sand castle,” Djajanegara said. “It is beautiful, but it can be washed away by the waves.”

Weather data for Puerto de Santiago was collected from the MERRA-2 project from NASA, which used a climate model combined with historical data from weather stations around the world to estimate what the conditions were like for every point on the Earth.

In October, for the nearest coastal location, the temperature of the sea averages around 24°C, that’s 75° Fahrenheit. Our index indicates for swimming this is considered warm and would be enjoyed by all, even those who are more likely to suggest the water was ‘too cold’ for a swim.

Sunny, cloudy and overcast days
According to data collected over the past 5 years, most days in October are sunny.
The weather in Ibiza is generally better in late spring, summer and autumn. Below we are going to focus on the months that attract the most tourism. This includes weather highlights, daily temperatures, expected rainfall and hours of sunshine.
Ibiza is the closest of the Balearic Islands to the Spanish mainland. As a result, the weather conditions here are like that of the eastern coastline of Spain. The summer months can be very hot with the winters quite mild but wet.
Below is an introduction into what weather to expect during spring, summer and autumn.
The weather in Ibiza tends to improve with the arrival of spring. The temperature of the sun and sea increase around this time along with the hours of sunshine. It’s during the warmer months that this island sees the bulk of it’s tourism. All the major tourist resorts will now be a buzz of activity, some transforming this island into the party capital of Spain.

Ibiza Weather in March
The weather in Ibiza in March yields an increase in temperature as we enter the spring months. The average daily temperature now is 14 Celsius. This will continue to increase further as we enter spring on the 20th of March.
The temperature of the sea remains at 15 Celsius which is the year low. Spring tends to see quite a bit of rainfall generally and March is no exception. There will be around 7 – 8 rainy days during this month and 9 hours of sunshine.
April
The weather in April improves further with spring now in full swing. The average temperature now increases to 16 Celsius. As we approach May, the temperature will again increase to around 18 Celsius on average.
The sea temperature also increases to 16 Celsius during April and a touch warmer towards May. April tends to be one of the wetter months of the year, this month will likely see 8 -9 rainy days. The hours of sunshine now increase to 10 hours.
Weather in May
The weather in Ibiza in May sees yet another increase in temperatures. The average daily temperature will now be 18 – 19 Celsius. May is the last of the spring months and the first major month for tourism.
The tourism high season tends to begin towards the end of May as the temperature improves. The average sea temperature during May is 18 Celsius but this will increase to 20 Celsius closer to June.
The hours of sunshine increase again to 12 hours. Only the summer months will see more hours of sun than May. The days of rainfall will also begin to decrease leading into summer. May sees around 6 days of rain but most will arrive early in the month.
June
June is the beginning of summer and the weather in Ibiza will be perfect for most. This month sees an average temperature of 22 – 23 Celsius which will be hotter towards the end of the month. Several days in June will be closer to 30 Celsius.
The sea temperature also increases to 21 Celsius, this will be nice and warm to enjoy a swim. The super beaches here will now begin to see more occupancy. June will see 13 hours of sunshine on average, this is a year high for Ibiza.
July
July is the height of summer when the temperature again increases. This month can get very hot towards the middle and end of the month. The average temperature is now 25 Celsius but many days will top 30 Celsius.
The sea temperature will now increase to 24 Celsius and hit 25 Celsius at the end of the month. July is one of the busiest months for tourism so expect the beaches to be busy. There will also be 13 hours of hot sun each day in July.
Weather in August
August is the hottest month in Ibiza with an average temperature of 26 Celsius. Many days will see the temperature exceed 30 Celsius so sun cream is mandatory. August can get much hotter than the average temperature suggests.
The sea temperature also peaks at it’s yearly high of 26 Celsius. This is very warm for anywhere in the world. The hours of sunshine remain at the 13 hour yearly high. There is not likely to be much rain during this month, an odd shower here and there.
Weather in September
The weather in Ibiza during September can be as hot as August and July. This is especially true at the beginning of the month before things cool down. The average temperature for September is a hot 25 Celsius.
The sea temperature is also 25 Celsius, a shade below the year high of August. Early September is still quite busy for tourism as the holiday season nears it’s end. The hours of sun now drops to 10 hours and the days of rain begin to increase.
Weather in Ibiza in October
The weather in October can still be quite hot but this month is very unpredictable. The average temperature will now be 21 Celsius and will continue to cool as the month progresses.
October sees by far more rainfall than any other month. This can be the case if a Gota Fria (Cold Drop) strikes. This weather phenomenon only happens on the eastern coast of Spain. Ibiza is quite close to the mainland so can often get the same conditions.
A Gota Fria usually occurs in October as the temperatures cool. Cold air from the north and west meets to hot air of the east. This can yield hurricane strength winds and large hail. This does not occur often but a Gota Fria can deliver 6 months rain in several days.

Favourite October restaurant. Restaurant S’Illa Des Bosc, Cala Conte
S’illa Des Bosc has possibly one of the most beautiful locations in Ibiza. It sits elegantly above Cala Conte beach with uninterrupted views over the sea. We have been visiting S’illa Des Bosc for 18 years and we have never been disappointed. The location is simply wonderful, the food is outstanding and the staff are super friendly. Best of all, prices are reasonable, for a top location and excellent food.
We visited the restaurant only 3 days ago. Check out the photo above, this was taken from our table during sunset. Amazing food and a sunset to die for, how can life get better?
How are prices? If you want a last minute Villa deal, don’t look any further. Luxury villas from as little as £60 per person per week
The great thing about October, is you can enjoy Ibiza’s best month at rock botton prices. Even the night clubs are cheaper.

The best beaches!
Cala Nova Beach
Cala Nova Beach is a wonderful sandy beach with pristine crystal clear water. Cala Nova has two beaches. One beach is located 1km from Es Canar, which in turn is about 5km from Santa Eulalia. The other can be reached by driving to San Carlos, then follow the signs to Cala Llenya. We prefer the beach the Cala Llenya end. Its quieter, and has a beautiful wood just behind the beach with ample parking. There is a wonderful Chiringuito on the beach and one of our favourite restaurants in Ibiza, Aiyanna overlooks the beach. We are regulars at Cala Nova, its perfect for families and sun worshippers.
The section of beach entered via Es Canar is much more popular. Guests from the Es Canar hotels populate the beach in the summer, it can therefore get a little crowded. The beach has two great restuarants both owned by the Atzaro Group. Atzaro Beach Club and the The Chiringuito . The beach club is fine dining and boasts amazing views across Cala Nova Beach, the Chiringuito is kinder on your wallet.
Both beaches are incredible, and on a windy day you will see lots of surfers and body boarders. Cala Nova is one of the best beaches in Ibiza to catch some great waves.
If you are not hiring a car, there is a bus service from Ibiza Town to Cala Nova, albeit fairly infrequent.
What’s the countryside like in September?
The countryside in Ibiza during October is similar to September, green and fertile. October is the perfect time to enjoy the huge choice of walks across Ibiza. Check out Walking Ibiza who organise some excellent walks throughout Ibiza. October is also the perfect month to get your bicycle out. Ibiza has an excellent road system and plenty of cycle paths. Cycling is very popular in Ibiza, especially in the months from October to May.
Casita Verde eco-centre Ibiza
What’s the clubbing scene like in October?
The first two weeks of October are when the big clubs actually close. Pacha, Hi, Ushuaia, Amnesia and Privelege. There is so much choice, but take note: The party not to miss, is the DC10 closing party. Clubbers fly in just for this event. Check out every closing party in October by clicking on the Essential https://www.essentialibiza.com/ibiza-party-calendar/october/
Halloween in Ibiza
Halloween is a big event in Ibiza, everyone makes a huge effort and it’s loads of fun. Many restuarants throw big parties but the main events are held at Pacha and Pikes Hotel.
Our absolute favouite Halloween party is at Pikes Hotel
The Pikes Halloween party is notorious, and very popular. Its worth pre booking tickets. Check out Pikes calendar for October.
Off-season partying at Pikes Ibiza
Special events in Ibiza during October
The Ibiza Food Festival is the stand out event in October.
The Ibiza Food Festival will create a platform for groups of foodies to dine together. Dining has always played an important role within our evolution and culture. Not only serving as a place to consume nutritious food but also a springboard to forge strong relationships with those we dine with.
Ibiza is home to a wide and delicious mix of natural produce, cutting-edge chefs, exciting eating establishments, creative and culinary versed venues. We provide a platform to learn from the best and one another – through traditions, history and new methodology. Creatively translating them into modern methods of cooking, developing, growing and practicing.
The Ibiza Food Festival will be immersed in entertainment from art, music and performance. As a mecca for music we will provide a platform for island DJ’s, musicians, singers and entertainers to take the centre stage throughout the festival. Exploring the ways music enhances our foodie experience.
The Ibiza Food Festival is a true celebration of Ibiza. We will be partnering with many of the island establishments so attendees can enjoy what the island has to offer, from meditation classes, walks, hikes, boat trips and more – we encourage you to experience the natural beauty of Ibiza.
El Portalon Ibiza
Transport
When it comes to travelling around Ibiza in October, we’d reiterate everything that we mentioned in last month’s guide, Ibiza in July.
Whilst not meaning to sound all doom-and-gloom here, there are a couple of things worth bearing in mind.
For the most part, Ibiza a very safe place. However, there are some bad eggs out there and this is the time of year when pro thieves tend to operate.
When you are out and about, only take the cash you will need and the most essential items. Leave everything else (passport, credit cards etc) securely locked up in a safe and make sure all doors, windows and/or gates to your accommodation are locked.
Be security conscious
And never, never, never leave valuables in your hire car.
Ever!
No point even tucking them away out of sight and thinking they will be fine. These days, there are devices that can clone your car alarm system and disable the locks like it ain’t no thing.
Meh.
And while we’re at it…
TIP: Always have your driving license on you or carry a photocopy of your passport. Spanish law requires you to carry photo ID at all times. Being on the receiving end of a policeman’s disapprovingly wagging finger (or a fine if you’re unlucky) is definitely best avoided.
We hope you’ve enjoyed our mini guide and don’t forget to tune in for the next exciting instalment, Ibiza in November.
Coming soon… 😉

The Best Autumn Destinations In Spain
The Spanish Autumn is not the same as in northern Europe. In the south and southeastern parts of Spain – from Murcia to Andalusia – the summer weather continues on until the end of October, with the hottest days reaching up to 30 degrees.
One thing is for sure, Autumn weather in Spain is warmer and drier than almost anywhere else in Europe. Below find a list of best autumn destinations in Spain for all travellers.
You will find that there are a lot of autumn getaway options from exciting city tours of Barcelona, Valencia and Málaga, Chestnut picking and wine tasting in Catalonia, surfing in the Basque Country, climbing the Teide volcano, taking a horseback desert tour through the Tabernas desert, and finding beach holiday options into the fall.
Autumn Beach Holidays in Spain – Murcia, Almería, Ibiza
You can swim in the Mediterranean well into October. In the southeast, the water temperatures stay warm for the longest. Those who want nothing more than to lay out on their towels and swim in the sea into autumn should check out the Murcia region at least once. In the seaside resorts of Mazarron, Águilas and La Manga, where there is a wonderfully warm saltwater lagoon called Mar Menor, holidays are affordable and the weather is beautiful.
The small town of Águilas is surrounded by great beaches and quaint holiday accommodation and the restaurants are very reasonable. So if you want to swim in the off-season, staying on Murcia’s Costa Calida is a good option. Calida means “hot” in Spanish, and it stands up to its name – this corner of Spain has the warmest average temperatures on land and in water throughout the year.
Weather for Mar Menor in Murcia from September to November
Average temperature: 18-30 degrees
Water temperature: 19-24 degrees
Almería is located to the far east of Andalucia and is less touristy, which makes it all the more charming. Those who travel to Almería in the winter will find great hiking areas, interesting old villages whose architecture date back to the Moorish time such as the Alcazaba of Almería, Spain’s second-largest Moorish fortress following Granada’s Alhambra.
For swimming, the beach village of Mojacar Playa is beautiful with a 17 km-long beach area and many fun beach bars. The best beaches are located in the southern part of Mojacar Playa where the water temperatures are still good for swimming up to the end of October. From here, it is also not far from the Natural Park of Cabo de Gata where there are some of the wildest and beautiful natural beaches of Andalusia. Halfway there, you can stop by the fantastic Playa de Los Muertos and Aguamarga.
Ibiza is not purely party island, but like all the Balearic Islands it is a true natural beauty. When the high season ends, it is more relaxed but you will still be able to meet people on the island.
You can swim at the gorgeous beaches in Ibiza until mid-October or go on a tour to discover the island. In September, the thermometer still often gets up to the 30-degree mark. In November, the island is clearly cooler and wetter and you should definitely pack long pants and raincoat. The late Autumn is most ideal for hiking or cycling. The ocean remains surprisingly warm around Ibiza and with a little luck, you will still be able to swim into early November.
The cultural highlight is the island’s capital, Eivissa, with its wonderful Mediterranean charm. Prices for holiday homes tend to fall from mid-October onwards, find holiday rentals in Ibiza with sea views.
Weather in Ibiza from September to November
Average temperature: 16-23 degrees
Water temperature: 20.4-21 degrees
The Canary Islands in the autumn – swimming, walking, surfing
You can travel to the Canary Islands throughout the year, but the Atlantic is much warmer in the autumn than in the winter or even in the spring. So if you still want to go swimming, you should book by early November. Collectively, the Canary Islands have fantastic beaches from those in Gran Canaria to those in Lanzarote for surfing in Papagayo or Famara. Fuerteventura has the kilometre-long sandy beaches of Corralejo, and find the small island of La Graciosa off of Lanzarote.
As for tropical green hiking islands, Tenerife is best with the stunning Anaga Mountains, La Gomera or La Palma.
Those who want to climb Spain’s highest mountain will find the ideal climate to do so in autumn. During autumn, the Teide volcano on the largest Canary Island of Tenerife is neither snowy or too hot for walking in the midday sun. You can also drive to the Teide National Park to go up by taking a cable car to reach the 3,555-metre summit. For adults, the price is €27 euros, for children €9.50. Those who want to climb to the very highest point must check with the National Park Administration, otherwise, you will only be able to wander by the cable car station.
Access to Teide is only allowed to a limited number of visitors.
Weather in the Canary Islands from September to November
Average temperature: 18-30 degrees
Water temperature: 20.4-21 degrees
City tours of Barcelona, Valencia or Málaga in the autumn
These three cities are located near the sea and sun, and despite the hustle and bustle that is common to all big cities, you can always find a soothing serenity. There are beautiful city beaches in Málaga, Barcelona and Valencia where you can avoid the summer crowds and treat yourself to a pleasant autumn break.
Holiday in Barcelona in October and still experience very hot days and even swim in the sea. The surf beaches of Barceloneta or Bella Mar are occupied in the fall because this is when the first major waves of surfers arrive. Along the beach promenade at the old port, Port Vell, you can take wonderful strolls until late into the nights and eat outside on terraces.
Weather in Barcelona from September to November
Average temperature: 16-25 degrees
Water temperature: 15-22 degrees
Valencia is Spain’s third-largest city and it has a lot of culture, architecture, and history, and the scenic science park has a lot to offer. In October, the average temperature is around 20 degrees, but there can also be very warm or cooler days. The sun shines for at least 6 hours a day and the climate is pleasantly mild overall thanks to the sea.
A stroll through Valencia’s old town and to the 13th-century cathedral, the old silk exchange from the 15th century and the bullring are just some of the highlights of the historic downtown. Valencia city is great for anyone interested in architecture and those interested in natural sciences should visit the City of Arts and Sciences – Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias.
Around Valencia, a trip to the Costa del Azahar (Orange Blossom Coast) is worthwhile, as are visits to ancient cities such as Gandia, Peñíscola, or Cullera with its 10th-century castle. There are also many great beaches here. Those who want to be a little more active can climb the rock of Calpe (it’s too hot to climb it in the summertime).
Weather in Valencia from September to November
Average temperature: 14-23 degrees
Water temperature: 17-23 degrees
Stay in a holiday home in Málaga for a pleasant autumn break, as tourists visiting the Costa del Sol gradually die down at this time. Málaga can be a comfortable base for trips into the surrounding areas such as the wonderful Torcal Mountains or the famous canyons along the recently renovated Caminito del Rey.
Nearby, visit the caves of Nerja and its wonderful beaches, very easy to reach from Málaga. After just a 30-minute drive east you’ll be there and be able to combine the trip with a visit of the white village of Frigiliana or the lost village of Acebuchal. These are magical Moorish villages where time has stood still and you will want to walk through the streets forever to admire the pretty white houses.
A city break to Málaga itself is just as special. Easily spend 3 to 4 days here without running out of things to do. The beautiful Moorish Alcazaba fortress, its botanical gardens and the seaside promenade are great places to stroll around without a care in the world.
As for a food selection, this Andalucian port city has many traditional tapas dishes to sample.
Málaga is also as a museum city (Modern and classical paintings), as well as a place where work by famous street artists like Obey or D*Face is shown off in the trendy Soho neighbourhood. As the evenings are mild and cosy well into fall, it is also worth it to take a seat on one of the many rooftop terraces that are scattered around the city.

Old Catalonia and its rural charm
Autumn in Catalonia could be considered the best season for everyone who loves good food and good wine. In the Pre-Pyrenees mountains, sweet chestnuts and huge mushrooms can be found just by walking around.
There are also beautiful woods of old chestnut trees. This includes one of the largest and probably the oldest chestnut trees in Spain, located in Parque Natural del Montseny at Can Cuch in Canoves.
Around All Saints Day (Todos Los Santos), the harvest festival of La Castanyada has freshly roasted chestnuts and regional Muscat wine during celebrations. There are delicious Catalan specialities such as panellets (almond biscuits), boniatos (sweet potatoes), fruta confitada (candied fruit), and castañas (chestnuts).
The wine tasting begins in September too with many festivals in Penedes, where excellent red wines and the world-famous Cava (Spanish champagne) are made in the autumn. A tour of the best bodegas during the wine harvest is an experience for all the senses. There are numerous tours through the wine country, which can be booked from abroad or on spot.
The harvest begins in late August and continues during the month of September.
There are many great destinations to be visited including the ancient walled city of Girona, the city of Vic with its medieval charm, or Besalú with its Romanesque churches. One of the most famous buildings in Catalonia is the Montserrat Monastery near Barcelona. This is a place definitely worth visiting because there are fewer tourists and even during the winter it is not so cold within the walls of the monastery.
Holiday in Sitges or Tossa de Mar during the autumn and you will notice that there are a lot fewer tourists during this period.
Weather in Sitges from September to November
Average temperature: 16-21 degrees
Water temperature: 18-24 degrees
Wild beautiful Basque Country in autumn – A Surfers Paradise
Every year, the surfers of Spain and other parts of the world make their way to the Atlantic’s grandiose sandy beaches. In the Basque Country, you will find some of the best surf spots and beaches in Europe, which happen to be natural beaches with little-to-no nearby buildings and mountains in the backdrop. One of the top surf beaches is called Zarautz and it is located in a city that goes by the same name.
From October, surf season begins and continues on into the winter. Surfing around this time of year definitely means that you will have to wear a wetsuit and surf shoes because the water is very cold.
While the Basque Atlantic Coast is colder than southern Spain, the autumn feels strangely warm even when there is rain. The average temperatures range from 12-21 degrees from September to November.
Great attractions in the area include the beautiful city of San Sebastian, which is near the sea and the famous caves of Altamira in Cantabria.
Weather in San Sebastian from September to November
Average temperature: 12-20 degrees
Water temperature: 16-21 degrees
Tarifa in the autumn (and a view of Africa)
In the last corner of Andalucia, the province starts to lose its European feel. In Tarifa, Africa is so close that on clear days you can the shape of the continent. The Strait of Gibraltar is very busy with ships from around the world.
The wind in Tarifa is created by the mixing of the cool Atlantic waters with the warm Mediterranean Sea. These winds are exactly why people from all over the world come here to kitesurf. But, if the wind is blowing strongly offshore, things can get out of control. For this reason, you should be cautious and choose days when the wind is blowing from Levante (easterly).
The long, wide sandy beaches are beautiful unless any cows get it your way (don’t worry they are actually pretty friendly) – you will understand when you visit.
Finding a holiday rental in Tarifa, this small surfer community and the fishing village will likely bring you towards Playa de Bolonia, which leads to the most beautiful beaches of Cadiz.
The white villages of the Cadiz region are also worth visiting, as well as places like Vejer de la Frontera, Medina Sidonia, Arcos de la Frontera, Zahara de la Sierra or the village of Setenil de las Bodegas.
Weather in Tarifa from September to November
Average temperature: 16-21 degrees
Water temperature: 19-23 degrees
The Tabernas Desert in the Autumn
This desert region is located in the Andalucian province of Almería. Not only is it quite special to see a desert region in Spain, but it is also interesting to know that numerous Western movies have been filmed right here.
In the summertime, temperatures reach 40 degrees and above. While in Almería, visiting Fort Bravo Tabernas is a must and some might say that autumn is a better time to visit without the extreme summer temperatures.
There are numerous horseback riding trails throughout the desert; you can also take a mountain bike here. These activities are best practised from the end of September onwards when the region finally cools down a little. Nevertheless, we recommend wearing a hat, drinking lots of water, and keeping a GPS device handy so that you do not get lost.
The desert is quite large and it can be difficult to orient yourself, so a nice (and safe) option is to join a guided tour.
In the desert of Tabernas, there are many great activities for the whole family, if you want to combine a bit of adventure with nature experiences during your autumn holiday. Apart from Fort Bravo, there is a zoo to visit and the Western cities Mini Hollywood and Western Leone, where you can find tepees, log cabins and saloons straight out of the movies. Children have a lot of fun here.
Weather in Tabernas from September to November
Average temperature: 20-26 degrees
To note: At night, temperatures can drop to about 10 degrees in the desert.
Where will you choose to stay on your autumn holiday to Spain?

Weather in September, October and November in Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca and all the Balearic Islands
The Balearic archipelago is dominated by a temperate Mediterranean climate. The swimming season here lasts about half of autumn, and the sun gives bright warm rays. At the same time, this season is not devoid of precipitation with short-term cooling of various periodicities. But it should be borne in mind that on all four islands the weather conditions can be heterogeneous. Therefore, it is always possible to choose a resort with the most favorable climatic conditions. Autumn holidays in the Balearic Islands will appeal to those who do not tolerate the summer heat
Weather in the Balearic Islands in September
September rightfully gets the title of the hottest and sunniest autumn month. The “enthusiasm” of the fiery luminary, although it is reduced by as much as two hours compared to August, is still enough to get an even, beautiful tan, and in the case of a careless attitude to one’s own health, even a burn. The level of ultraviolet light does not yet allow you to stop using sunscreen and hats. However, it is no longer as high as in summer, which is undoubtedly a huge plus for children and people with a weak body. In September, the swimming season continues, but there are significantly fewer holidaymakers
As for the temperature regime, the maximum extremes are recorded in Ibiza, located exactly opposite the Costa Blanca. In the first few days of the month, the thermometer often props up the 30-degree mark. At the same time, there is no talk of heat – the Embat sea breeze has a good refreshing effect. True, in the evenings, the same breeze significantly distorts the perception of temperatures: it seems that it is much cooler outside than it really is. Almost similar weather prevails in Formentera, located 6 km south of Ibiza. In Mallorca and Menorca, it is more restrained. And for a comfortable beach holiday, it is best to go in the first two weeks of September.
Regarding precipitation, as the month “progresses” the sky is increasingly covered with gray clouds. But, fortunately, the rains do not have a strong intensity. In general, there are 6 to 8 wet days.
Water and air temperature on the main islands of the Balearic archipelago in September September in the Balearic Islands is characterized by high temperatures
Max. temperature : Ibiza – +28 ° C; Formentera – +27 °C; Menorca – +26 °C; Mallorca – +26 °C. Min. temperature : Ibiza – +20 °C; Formentera – +19 °C; Menorca – +19 °C; Mallorca – +18 °C. Water temperature : Ibiza – +25 °C; Formentera – +25 °C; Menorca – +24 °C; Mallorca – +24 °C.
Weather in the Balearic Islands in October
October in the Balearic Islands is, by our standards, a very warm month. During the day it is quite possible to walk in summer clothes. On some days, weather forecasters register about +25 .. +26 ° C. In October, rains become more frequent, but the weather does not cease to please with warm days
Most often, of course, such weather happens in the period from the 1st to the 15th (however, it also happens vice versa, as in 2013, when the days from October 12 to 30 turned out to be the warmest). And this is the best time for swimming in the sea, because later the air cools down more and more every day, and even with the slightest breeze, there is no longer any desire to “bare” on the beach (not to mention entering the water).
However, even in the presence of this, it will not always be possible to implement it, as the volume of precipitation increases. According to long-term meteorological archives, the number of “wet” days ranges from 10-12. The most “dry” islands are Ibiza and Formentera.
Water and air temperature on the main islands of the Balearic archipelago in October In October the sun is no longer hot, but pleasantly warm, the nights are cool, so sweaters or jackets are needed
Max. temperature : Ibiza – +24 ° C; Formentera – +23 °C; Menorca – +22 °C; Mallorca – +22 °C. Min. temperature : Ibiza – +17 ° C; Formentera – +15 °C; Menorca – +15 °C; Mallorca – +15 °C. Water temperature : Ibiza – +23 °C; Formentera – +22 °C; Menorca – +22 °C; Mallorca – +22 °C.
Weather in the Balearic Islands in November
In November, the air continues to slowly cool down. If until the second decade it is still quite possible to flaunt in sweaters and short-sleeved T-shirts during the day, then in the last week the probability of this is very small. In November, a full-fledged autumn by the standards of Spain begins in the Balearic Islands
Not the best way affect the wind and high levels of humidity. From the first, a dense insulated jacket with a hood will perfectly protect. An umbrella will not be superfluous either: a little more than a third of the month is marked by showers. As for the beach holiday, it has already come to an end. The only people you can meet “in the water” are surfers.
Water and air temperature on the main islands of the Balearic Archipelago in November During the day in November it is still possible to walk with short sleeves, but after dark (and the evening comes quite quickly) it gets significantly colder
Max. temperature: Ibiza – +19 °C; Formentera – +19 °C; Menorca – +18 °C; Mallorca – +18 °C. Min. temperature : Ibiza – +13 ° C; Formentera – +12 °C; Menorca – +11 °C; Mallorca – +11 °C. Water temperature : Ibiza – +19 °C; Formentera – +19 °C; Menorca – +19 °C; Mallorca – +19 °C.
Autumn in the Balearic Islands is not original. Just like in other seaside resorts, it has the most favorable disposition in September – early October.

Beach holidays in Spain
Officially, the beach season in the country is still ongoing. As a rule, the closing of the beach period occurs in the second half of October, although there are exceptions.
The conditions are dictated by autumn weather in Spain.
For the past few years, already at the end of September, the weather brings unexpected surprises: the number of cloudy and rainy days increases.
In October, especially in the second decade of the month, winds on the coast increase to squally, the sea is constantly stormy and the water temperature drops rapidly.
The climate of Spain
It is worth noting that Spain is far from a small country and the difference in climate is still observed, therefore it is necessary to understand exactly for what purpose and where exactly you are
go to this sunny state. Madrid, Catalonia and, of course, the magnificent Barcelona, even in October, remain welcomingly warm, during the day you can
enjoy temperatures up to +21ºС. But closer to the northwest, namely towards Galicia, rainy weather becomes a more frequent visitor, so much so that
cloudy and sunny days becomes equally divided. The weather conditions in Spain in October are very comfortable, especially in the province of Almeria, in the southern part of Spain,
the temperature at night does not fall below +15ºС, and during the day the air warms up to +23ºС. This temperature regime is very conducive to both relaxing on the beach,
as well as traveling to interesting places, and excursions to incredible temples and other historical and architectural masterpieces.
Prices are reduced in October, there are not so many people, as the school year is in full swing, and the weather favors hiking, unhurried and quiet rest in cozy towns.
Which resort to choose in October?
The climate of Spain still allows you to enjoy swimming in the sea in October, though only in its southern part, where the sea water has not yet cooled below +21ºС
(Cost del Sol, Costa Tropical, Costa de Almeria) or in
time
holidays in the Canary Islands,
which are the country’s year-round beach resorts. The daily temperature here never drops below +25ºС. No less popular are
the islands of Spain, belonging to the group of the Balearic archipelago, where the weather conditions are quite suitable for a beach holiday even at the end of October.
You can experience all the delights of such a vacation during
holidays in Ibiza.
Continental Spanish resorts will also be an excellent option for surfers to relax – they will find something to do in October, getting incredible pleasure
from the waves crashing on the coast.
October in Russia is often a wet and cold month. It is not surprising that many of our compatriots, whose vacation falls in mid-autumn, try to spend it away from their homeland. Where it is still sunny and warm. One such country is Spain. In this article, the Tour-Calendar offers to find out what kind of vacation to expect when going there in a given period of time.
Weather in Spain in October
With the onset of October, a soft velvety autumn sets in on the territory of the Spanish provinces. A specific weather forecast depends on which region is directly in question – the heterogeneity of the landscape and the variety of climatic zones affect. The coolest regions include the northern and northwestern parts of the mainland, where the influence of the Atlantic prevails. October brings here a significant decrease in average daily temperatures: in the first half of the month, during the day, the air warms up to +23 ° C, and after the 15th, when the sky is increasingly covered with a dense cover of clouds and it rains, the street thermometer shows only +20 .. +21°C. The probability of finding sunny days is greater at the beginning of the month. Therefore, if you want to sunbathe on the coast, for example, on the beach of Barcelona, it is better not to delay your trip. According to weather forecasters, precipitation takes about a third of the month, so an umbrella is an integral part of a travel bag. For evening walks, you will need closed shoes, as well as warm and practical outerwear, because after sunset the environment quickly loses the accumulated heat, cooling down to +13..+16°C.

Closer to November, these figures may be 1-2 degrees less. In the central part of the country, autumn things are also relevant. For example, in Madrid in the evenings the temperature drops to +11..+14°C. The feeling of cold in the capital is intensified by rising chilly winds and slush. The latter is due to an increase in the amount of precipitation. The southern and southeastern regions are also gradually cooling down, but the number of clear sunny days there is much greater, so a swimsuit may come in handy. By noon, the air warms up to approximately +23..+25°C. When the sun sets below the horizon, it becomes chilly and uncomfortable. At night, no higher than +15°C should be expected. The only exception is Seville, where at night meteorologists register from +16°C to +18°C. Wonderful weather persists in Ibiza and the Canaries. The only thing is that the number of rainy days is somewhat higher in the party resort of Balearic. During the daytime – about +23..+26°C. In the evenings, mostly +15..+17°C, in Tenerife and Gran Canaria – about +17..+19°C.
What to do in Spain in October?
October in Spain is a fertile time. The heat finally subsides, and with it the influx of vacationers. Perhaps this is one of the most successful periods for a thorough trip around the country. The absence of tourist crowds contributes to the unhindered immersion in the Spanish flavor and the leisurely study of local traditions. And incendiary holidays and warm “beach” days only add rich colors to the rest and make it truly memorable.
Beach holidays
October tours to Spain give an excellent opportunity to turn back the clock and catch the last days of the outgoing summer. The most win-win option for those who pursue the goal of a beach holiday is the island of “eternal spring” and a bright representative of the Balearic archipelago – world-famous Ibiza. The beach season on these islands is still open. In the first week of the month, coastal waters keep the temperature at +23°C. As a rule, by the end of October they steadily cool down to +22°C.
Along with swimming and sunbathing, vacationers have the opportunity to practice windsurfing (there are a lot of specialized schools), scuba diving and parasailing. On the Atlantic coast of the continental part of the country, dipping will not bring the desired pleasure, since the water is already pretty invigorating – about +18.5..+19°C. And the frequent storms often prevent this. As for the mainland southern and southwestern resorts, it is very difficult to say anything specific about them. Judging solely by the water temperature – +19..+21°C, theoretically swims are possible.
However, one should not forget about the changeable nature of the weather, which sometimes brings not the most pleasant surprises in the form of squally winds and high waves. So here’s how lucky.
Entertainment and excursions
In October, excursion activities are activated with a vengeance. At this time, the most optimal weather reigns – it is no longer hot in transport, and thirst will not torment. What to include in your educational program? Definitely Barcelona with the ingenious architectural creations of Gaudí
And Madrid with grandiose royal palaces, richest museums and spacious green parks. Equally noteworthy is Seville, framed by picturesque mountains, replete with ancient churches, Moorish mosques and Gothic cathedrals. The Old City of Bilbao with rich mansions and centuries-old monasteries does not leave indifferent to its beauty. Some certainly visit the strict Toledo, which has preserved traces of various eras.
Others prefer the colonial town of Cartagena, imbued with the spirit of the 18th century. Fans of an active and varied pastime can ride a horse, play golf, go to a football match, watch flamenco in a cafe or restaurant, and also witness a bullfight (except for Catalonia and the Canary Islands). By the way, this is the last month that traditionally ends the bullfighting season.
Holidays and festivals
October in Spain is accompanied by many colorful festivals. One of them is the Day of Hispanidad / Día de la Hispanidad, celebrated annually on the 12th. This is the national holiday of Spain, which is considered a kind of founding day of the Spanish civilization.
Also on October 12, the memory of Our Lady Pilar is honored, under whose patronage Christopher Columbus discovered the New World. Initially, it was celebrated only in Aragon, but later spread throughout the entire state. For many older Spaniards, this holiday is loved more than their own birthday. In the city of Zaragoza on October 12, magnificent parades and dance performances are held. Another significant event of mid-autumn is the grandiose closing of the Flamenco Festival / Bienal de Flamenco in Seville, arranged once every 2 years. It was first held at 1980 and a few years later received wide publicity. Today, about 10,000 dancers from 40 countries of the world take part in it! In the first 2 weeks of October, seafood lovers flock to Ponteverde for the fish festival “La Fiesta del Marisco”,
To taste delicious dishes of lobsters, lobsters, shrimp, squid, etc. On October 24, residents and guests of Cordoba honor the memory of St. Raphael. The celebration is called “Día de San Rafael” and includes special services, as well as a number of social events, including folk festivals.
What are the prices for holidays in Spain in October?
October prices for excursions, air tickets and accommodation are relatively low. The fall in inbound tourist flow is forcing airlines, hoteliers and tour agencies to reduce tariffs for services rendered by an average of 20% compared to prices during the peak of the high season. However, it should be borne in mind that this number is approximate, and depends directly on the geographical location of the proposed vacation spot. So, in beach resorts, the cost of a day in a hotel room will be much lower than, for example, in a hotel of an equivalent category in Barcelona, which never knows a shortage of visitors, and which often hosts business meetings and other business events. In addition, last-minute vouchers are sold to many coastal cities throughout the month, allowing you to save a lot. At the same time, the quality of service remains at the same decent level.
Spain is considered to be the leading beach destination among Russian tourists. Every year, crowds of people come here, they are interested in magical architecture, mild climate, clean beaches and the sea. Spain is also considered popular because you can relax here all year round, because even in winter the temperature here is rarely below +10 degrees, while the beach season can last from April to October.
About a beach holiday in Spain
The most popular places for a beach holiday are:
Costa Brava. 60 kilometers from Barcelona is the coast with clean and pleasant beaches. The 200 km long strip contains the best beaches, hotels and small towns. You can relax on the beach of Tossa de Mar or Lloret de Mar, in many places the tourist can find active entertainment, parties and excursions.
Nerja . The beaches in this place cover about 8 kilometers. It used to be a small fishing village, but now it’s a popular holiday destination. Mountains and crystal clear sea are perfectly combined here.
Tenerife . Do not forget that Spain owns several islands. The Canary Islands are a territory that is quite far from Europe. It is better to relax here in winter. The landscapes here are stunning, there are many steep capes, mountains, and the waves are favorable for surfing.
Mallorca . Another island in Spain. Here you can find both a quiet quiet rest, and youth. The most popular beach of the island is Magaluf, in general, many beaches have white, clean sand and clear sea. You can relax here almost all year round.
Ibiza. The famous island where the most noisy and fun parties are held. But at the same time, you can find calm places here. Many tourists prefer to take a boat trip and come to Ibiza for one day to see the nature of the island.
Costa Brava.
Usually the beach season lasts from May to October. On the Northeast coast, where the Costa Brava is located, the temperature throughout the summer is +25-30, the sea warms up to +28. The north of the country does not fry so much, the average temperature in July is +25.
August is similar to July in terms of weather, these two months are the peak season, but tourists are advised to come to Spain for holidays in the fall. September – early October is the velvet season, the temperature drops to +28 in the east, to +32 in the south, to +22 in the north. There are significantly fewer tourists at the beginning of autumn, the sea has not yet cooled down, precipitation falls a little and cools the surface, but the rains will not spoil the rest. Spain in October is also beautiful. There is no hellish heat, you can still combine beach and sightseeing holidays, there are very few tourists.

Coast of Barcelona
Before traveling to this colorful and vibrant country, a tourist should learn a little about the rules and traditions of the locals.
Important! Here you can not come to the beach with animals, swim without bathing suits on public beaches, when meeting, locals do not shake hands, but kiss on the cheek, repeat this procedure when they say goodbye.
The most useful tips from experienced travelers:
Thieves and pickpockets often operate in cities, so it is better to keep personal belongings close to you, throw a backpack over your stomach. You should not get money on the street, and you should hide your wallet and credit cards deeper in your bag.
Tipping in the country is not at all obligatory, but desirable, you can leave 2 … 10% to an employee in a restaurant, hotel or taxi. Sometimes the institution can include them in the check, this must be carefully checked.
Entrance to clubs and bars is paid for almost everyone, girls rarely get a discount, but sometimes they hold a promotion and give one drink for free.
On the streets, in addition to thieves, you can meet beggars, and some are cunning, asking for help, but while the tourist is distracted, the beggar’s partner steals personal belongings.
Entrance to many museums and attractions is paid, but there are days when you can get there for free, you need to check on the official websites of cultural sites.
Public transport in many cities is cheap, even in Barcelona a tourist will pay no more than 2 euros for travel, while there are no conductors and turnstiles, you can ride for free, but you need to understand that a large fine of 500 euros is imposed for this.
It should be understood that the Spaniards are friendly and open people, they are always happy to help the tourist, so even if the traveler does not speak Spanish, they will try to understand him in sign language. You just have to be polite with the local population, smile more often, don’t be rude and don’t break the rules.
Barcelona in October
Spain is ready to meet tourists in any month, be it August or December. The climate here is mild, summers are hot and dry, winters are mild, almost without rain and snow. In this country, you can find holidays for every taste: beach, sightseeing, active, and so on. Here is excellent cuisine, interesting traditions and holidays. Spain skillfully combines nature and architecture, the traveler can see everything at once: the creations of Gaudi, the sea, mountains, luxury shops and restaurants, the underwater world, unique fauna and culture. In October, tourists can safely count on tours and tours at discounted prices, and there will be no crowds of tourists on the streets. The beaches will be empty, only some people are ready to swim in the sea at + 18 … 20, but at the same time, the island territories of the country are ready to welcome all vacationers even in the middle of autumn.

Every year the tourist organization of Russia publishes reports on where and how our tourists go abroad. And the Kingdom of Spain is constantly in the TOP five most visited countries by Russians. This is not surprising: there are gorgeous beaches, modern hotels, a lot of entertainment and, perhaps, the best opportunities for recreation. Plus, the beach season lasts quite a long time, and tourists can come here even in the middle of autumn. Although not many will dare to say that the weather in Spain in October 2020 is beachy. If the air is even more or less warm, then the water temperature in the sea is declining and few people dare to go in and swim.
What are the benefits of a holiday in Spain? Because it is varied. You can go on holiday to the islands. The best are Mallorca or Tenerife. You can relax on the seashore in the resorts of continental Spain. One of the best resorts in Barcelona and Costa Brava. And if you are not interested in beaches and the sea, then go to Madrid or Seville – these cities are beautiful and there are many attractions. But wherever you are going, the weather in the country in autumn will be almost the same everywhere.
As we have already mentioned, Mallorca is one of the most beautiful islands in Spain. October is mostly sunny. Cloud cover will be no more than 25%, and rainy days no more than 1-2 per month. The amount of precipitation is about 30 millimeters. This means that the rains may be short and not over the entire island. During the day, the air warms up to +25, and at night it cools down to +18. The water in the sea off the coast of Mallorca is +23 warm, but still not everyone is at risk of swimming here.
It is warmest in the middle of autumn in the resort of Santa Cruz. In the daytime, the air easily warms up to +26, and drops to +20 degrees at night. The water temperature in the sea is not higher than 23 degrees with a plus sign. blowing winds can cause strong waves on the sea, which often develop into a storm. Therefore, to swim or not is up to you.
In Barcelona, beloved by all, it is already cool in October, especially when compared with other southern resorts. During the day it is not higher than +20, and at night it is only +12 +15. The sea has already cooled down to 20 degrees, and you definitely can’t swim here. Although some tourists, warmed up by alcoholic drinks, go into the water and enjoy the sea. Not every day in Barcelona will be sunny. According to statistics, it rains here for 3-4 days. And if you add short-term precipitation to them, it turns out that one third of the month is rainy. For the entire month, 46 millimeters of precipitation can fall.
More and more tourists choose Malaga as their holiday destination. The second month of autumn is not the best for a trip here for a beach holiday. If it is still sunny and +23 degrees during the day, then no higher than +15 degrees is expected at night. The sea has cooled down to +20, and the amount of rain exceeds four days. So it is better to come to this resort in the summer.

The water in the pond in October will be around 14-16°C. You have to be a walrus without pretensions to go swimming.

The weather in Spain in October. Holidays in Spain in September – early October: what’s the weather like? Weather in Spain in October
In October, real autumn weather reigns, the air temperature fluctuates from 17 to 24 degrees above zero , depending on the region. But in any case, swimming in the sea is no longer recommended. The water is quite cool and will not bring the expected pleasure from the swim.
At night the degree drops to 12 degrees Celsius, precipitation in the form of rain is possible and wind. Windy weather is not uncommon in the coastal region, so even if you go there during the daytime, try to wear tight clothes to protect yourself from the wind.
Unfortunately, in October the gusts can be so strong that a real hurricane occurs . At such moments, it is better not to leave the hotel at all, but to wait until everything becomes normal.
But in calm weather, the surest solution would be to take a walk around the city, go on an excursion or concert. Fortunately, there is always something to do in Spain in any month, and mid-autumn is no exception.
The holiday season is already closed , and there are fewer tourists than usual. But that’s no reason not to travel to Spain in October, especially if your goal is to see the sights and just get to know the country.
With the onset of October, a soft velvety autumn sets in in the Spanish provinces.

By noon, the air warms up to approximately +23. .+25°C.

Spain. Spain in October – rest and weather Spain in autumn in October
With the onset of October, a soft velvety autumn sets in in the Spanish provinces. A specific weather forecast depends on which region is directly in question – the heterogeneity of the landscape and the variety of climatic zones affect. The coolest regions include the northern and northwestern parts of the mainland, where the influence of the Atlantic prevails. October brings here a significant decrease in average daily temperatures: in the first half of the month, during the day, the air warms up to +23 ° C, and after the 15th, when the sky is increasingly covered with a dense cover of clouds and it rains, the street thermometer shows only +20 . .

Southern Spain has a subtropical climate with warm, rainy winters and hot, sunny summers. The northwestern and northern parts of the country are slightly different climatically, where the Atlantic Ocean has a considerable influence on the formation of weather. Some regions of the peninsula, on which Spain is located, are more prone to precipitation than others, in connection with this, the entire territory of the country is conditionally divided into wet and dry areas.
When is the best time to go on holiday to Spain? The weather in Spain is also favorable in October and September. At this time, warm nights are observed here and there are no extremely high or low temperatures.
Summer weather
July and August are extremely hot months, so walking around the city is uncomfortable, but it’s nice to lie on the beach and swim. Residents of Spain hide from the sun at the peak of the heat, and continue to work when the air cools and the sun’s rays do not shine at a right angle. The highest thermometers are in August, but at this time the water in the sea is very hot, attracting millions of tourists from all over the world.
Beginning of autumn
Velvet is the name of the weather in Spain in September and October. In these two months, the day is still warm, but the nights are already quite cold.
The beginning of autumn in the Iberian Peninsula does not remind of the approach of cold weather. The first half of September pleases resort lovers with sunny weather, with the exception of a few rainy days, although there are not much more of them than in July and August. The northeast of the country is characterized by the highest rainfall activity, with precipitation reaching up to 76 mm. This is much more than in the capital, where up to 55 mm can fall in a month.
The influx of tourists to Ibiza is gradually decreasing. It is warm almost always, but by the end of the month it is not as hot as most travelers would like. However, September is perhaps the best time to relax in this place, because in honor of the end of the season, the organizers tend to invite the most famous DJs and performers to events and parties.
Mid-Autumn
The arrival of October in Spain marks the end of the tourist season. Although the air temperature is still warm in the daytime, which is conducive to relaxing on the beach. The weather in Spain in October is suitable for traveling to historical places, because the flow of tourists is already noticeably less than in summer. For example, Ibiza or the Canary Islands, places rich in historical monuments, are often crowded with people, but in autumn the flow of visitors drops, so there is a chance to comfortably explore their sights.
Quite warm weather in Spain in October. Feedback from residents and thermometers indicate a constant + 20-23 o C during the day, and at night + 14-16. The water becomes cooler, but maintains an acceptable temperature within + 20-22 o C. In the southern and northern regions, there are fewer sunny days, and heavy rains are possible in the central regions.
The south is a few degrees warmer, but the amount of precipitation also increases there. In the Costa del Sol region, their volume can reach 64 mm, and in the Costa Blanca it rains even more abundantly, sometimes up to 73 mm falls there.
The weather is getting colder in Spain in October, so the rest is no longer a pleasure. Residents of Madrid are gradually changing into warm clothes, getting used to the temperature drop to +18-19 o C. There are up to 8 rainy days in October in the capital a month. This is less than in coastal areas, where, in addition to precipitation, meteorologists begin to record hurricanes and a slow increase in wind throughout the month.
The climate of the islands
The weather in the Canary Islands is more stable and suitable for swimming all year round. The water temperature rarely drops below +20 °C, and usually fluctuates around +20-22 °C. The air is still warm, averaging +26°C. That is why the Canary Islands are called the “Islands of Eternal Spring”.
It is also warm all year round in the Balearic Islands region, where Ibiza is popular. Here and in the second month of autumn it is quite warm for some people, and the water is sometimes hotter than the air. The weather in Spain in October shows stable temperatures: +21 °C in the sea, and +18-23 °C on land. But still, swimming is not as pleasant as in summer or in September.
You can also extend the summer in Tenerife, the largest island of the Canary archipelago. Here in autumn there is an opportunity not only to have a good rest, swim and lie on the beach, but also admire the picturesque landscapes. Also at this time of the year, tourists are actively involved in underwater sports.
When it gets cold
Powerful winds and heavy rains are the main feature of the weather in Spain in November-October. Coastal regions of the country are most affected by them. Relatively warm, with low precipitation, only the eastern part of the state remains. On the Costa Blanca, warm air masses may dominate for some time, the temperature during the day sometimes rises to +20 ° C. But the night is already very cold, the thermometer scale stops at +8 ° C, as in other regions of Spain. Even the warmest islands can no longer please with high water and air temperatures. They are still interesting, but not everyone dares to swim. For example, children are not allowed into the water to avoid colds due to hypothermia.
If in Spain the weather at the beginning of October allowed you to relax on the beach, now it is impossible due to the very low water and air temperatures. Only the most picky can enter the sea. In November, Spain experiences an influx of tourists who head to interesting places.
What and where to see
This country is famous not only for excellent beaches, bullfighting, delicious food and pretty girls. Spanish architecture is considered to be one of the most interesting on the planet.
Apart from Madrid and Barcelona, Cordoba is especially popular. At one time it was the capital of a Muslim state – the Caliphate of Cordoba. Only after the Reconquista did the city come under Christian rule. This unique place is known throughout the world for its monuments of Christian and Islamic culture, which are closely intertwined in urban architecture.
Cordoba also keeps valuable monuments of ancient Roman culture.
The most famous sights of Spain are the following:
Mesquite.
Alcazar of Christian kings.
Roman bridge.
Sagrada Familia.
Alhambra.
Synagogue of Cordoba.
Park Güell.
Royal Palace of Madrid.
Every season in Spain creates good conditions for tourists. Some people like to lie under the sun, while others prefer active recreation and exploration of famous places. It is not for nothing that Europeans, Americans and Asians like the weather in Spain in October, because the climate in this month is favorable for both swimming and walking around the cities.

The air temperature at the beginning of the month is kept at 15 degrees, during the day it reaches 20 degrees, and at night it can drop to 10. The water temperature is 20 degrees.

Son Vida is the oldest course on the island, so it’s the perfect choice if you’re looking for a quirky, fun course to play. On most holes, irons and good course management are needed, so use the yardage book wisely to plot your route around the course.
Lively Nightlife
There is a vast choice of restaurants and bars in most towns, with a vibrant nightlife. The Sky Bar at Bar Cuba, Palma offers spectacular views of the bay with an amazing selection of drinks that visitors can enjoy late into the night.
This makes it very easy to stay up until the early hours of the morning in Majorca (Don’t miss your tee-time!)
Tasty Food
If you’re interested in trying out the local cuisine, there’s a fabulous selection of seafood restaurants to choose from!
An absolute must visit for golfers travelling here is the La Terraza Restaurant in Alcudia. Enjoy fresh produce with local charm and a selection of quality wines for a truly unforgettable experience.
The seafood paella is a real highlight. For those who miss English food from back home, there are still plenty of options to choose from.

There’s plenty to do off the course as well: if you’re feeling really adventurous, take a boat to one the semi-deserted bays on the north island and swim in the clear water. A day cruise in Majorca along the north coast is one we would highly recommend. As it less crowded than the rest of the island and offers spectacular cliffs of over 180 meters in height.
