Porta Pollensa
Best Time to Visit Majorca for Good Weather
If you are looking for the hottest time of the year to visit Majorca, then average temperatures peak at 30 degrees in August – the height of the UK school holidays.
However, the temperature starts to rise from May with a maximum of 24 degrees and drop again in October to 24 degrees so the summer months will provide you with that much desired warmth but the half term shoulder months should give you some sunshine too.
May, June and October have the possibility of being a little cooler with minimum temperatures dropping to 14 degrees at times but this could make for cooler and more comfortable nights if you are travelling with smaller children. Just pack for cooler evenings.
The likelihood of it raining during your trip to Majorca is dependent on the time of year that you travel. Between September and April, you are more likely to experience some rainfall, with the heaviest rain falling in November and December.
The Summer months from May through to the end of August, beginning of September see very little rain and even if there happens to be a downpour whilst you are there, these are often short and can sometimes help to cool you down from those high Summer temperatures! Thunderstorms are meant to be a spectacular sight if you do experience one in Majorca so try to enjoy it!

Best Time to Complete Tours and Activities in Majorca
If you’d love to marvel at the natural beauty of dolphins or whales in the wild on a glass bottom boat, then the Summer months are your best choice. The water will be calm and clear for the best views and you can enjoy sunbathing on the boat during the journey. The start or end of Summer could be best if you are completing this activity with children however as the weather will be a little cooler and there will be more of a sea breeze.
The same can be said for a visit to the Cave of Hams with impressive views and the option of a picnic on some tours. This activity is not available between the 25th of December and the 1st of January however.
Several cruises are also available to explore the coast of Majorca and the same advice applies for those tours. Do remember that the sea breeze can mask warmer weather when out at sea so it is imperative to stay hydrated and use sun cream liberally.
If you haven’t got your sea legs, then the hop on and off bus tours can be a great way to visit Majorca. This is the perfect activity year round but be prepared with an umbrella and raincoat if you are travelling in the Winter months! Skip the line tickets are available for many big attractions including Palma Cathedral.
Best Time to Visit Majorca in the School Holidays
If you’re looking for a hot Summer holiday then July and August are the best times to visit Mallorca during the school holidays. It will be quite warm with maximum temperatures reaching 30 degrees and this could always increase.
A holiday at the end of August or during June half term could be a little cooler and June dates are a slightly cheaper time.
However, if you are looking for a cheaper time to travel to Majorca, October half term would be perfect with highs of 23 degrees but you will need an extra jumper for the evenings and must be aware that some places and restaurants may not be available towards the end of the week due to it being out of season.
Best Time to Visit Majorca with a Baby or Toddler
The ideal time to visit Mallorca with a baby or toddler would be in either May or September, outside of the peak Summer months when the weather is still warm but not too hot. The island is packed with activities for all of the family and restaurants and shops are well equipped with everything you should need for your little one whilst you are there.
Best Time to Visit the Water Parks in Majorca
Aqualand
Aqualand is open from May to October, every day between 10am and 5pm (6pm in July and August). The attractions are open at different times throughout the day and can be closed due to maintenance so check their website for any up to date details.
During peak months of July and August the park is often busier whereas you will find yourself queuing less during June and September. Visitors also suggest arriving early to beat the queues for the most popular attractions.
The park accommodates for toddlers with a ‘Children’s Paradise’ which is designed for smaller children with slides and is monitored by a lifeguard. Teens will also find enough to do with a variety of attractions for the more apprehensive or the adrenaline junkies of the family!
Western Water Park
At Western Water Park, the season starts in May and ends at the end of September but check the website for the last day entry. It is open between 10am and 5pm (6pm during July and August) and tickets can be bought online or at the gate.
The park can be VERY busy during the Summer holidays so it could be best to visit in early July or September. However, Fast Passes are available to cut the length of queues for specific attractions. More information about this can be found on the website or at information desks at the Park.
The Park is designed for the whole family with specific areas for smaller children and larger attractions for those dare-devil teens! Toddlers will need supervision throughout their time and the activities may be a little too large for some but there are pool areas for playtime too.
Hidropark
The Hidropark, Alcudia is open from May 1st to October 30th inclusively with opening times from 10am to 5am and 6pm during July and August. As per the other parks, Hidropark can be very busy during peak months of July and August but arriving early could avoid this or visiting during the low season of May, June, September and October would mean there would be fewer crowds.
At the Hidropark in May
There are a wide range of attractions at this park which are not limited to water slides. Younger children and toddlers are well catered for but teens who might like to challenge their fear factor may not have as much to do. Saying that, there are rides suitable for the whole family individually or together so this would still make for a great day out for everyone.
Best Beaches to Visit in Majorca
What’s a summer holiday without a visit to the beach? Majorca has some fantastic beaches on offer (262 to be exact!) and here are the best of the bunch!
Puerto Pollensa
This beach is a fine sand beach which has two parts to it, nestled in amongst a harbour. The water here is clear and shallow, rarely showing big waves, making it perfect for families but it can get busy in July and August.
The beach is well-equipped with sun loungers, showers and toilets and the accessibility of the harbour means the chance for water sports and excursions by boat. There is a car free promenade laden with cafes and restaurants and lots of hotels nearby.
Playa de Formentor
This white-sand, Blue Flag beach is on the North-eastern tip of the island, surrounded by dense pine forests with views of the Traumuntana mountains. This can often offer some shade on those warm days in the Summer. Due to the scenic attraction of this long, skinny white beach, it can be busy with tourists at times.
The beach does offer loungers and umbrellas at set prices across the beach and these can be quite high during the peak Summer months. The water is shallow with low waves and with the added bonus of showers and toilets, it makes it perfect for children.
You can hire some basic water sport equipment but it isn’t too noisy or busy meaning there is lots of space for swimming and snorkelling. There are two restaurants and two souvenir shops nearby too so not a huge selection but they both offer self-service and a good selection of food.
Camp de Mar
Camp de Mar is a far sized beached, and although over-looked by some hotels, the sea views are impressive. It’s a great spot for families with shallow water, low waves and showers and toilets readily accessible.
You can hire sunbeds, umbrellas and pedalos to keep those little ones busy and there are lifeguards on duty which will definitely be needed as the beach can get crowded during the busy Summer months. There are restaurants nearby, including one positioned on an island in the sea which is accessed by a wooden bridge.
Port de Soller
These beaches provide some of the best views in Majorca as they are split into two separate parts along the horseshoe bay. The sea is calm and sheltered with low waves with lifeguards on duty making this a perfect beach for families.
You can hire sunbeds and umbrellas and the promenade offers lots in terms of cafes and restaurants. The option of a ride on a vintage tram is available and you will even get a view of some impressive private yachts which often choose Port de Soller to anchor!
Playa de Muro
This is one of the longest beaches on the Balearic Islands which has four different sectors. The water is calm and shallow and there is a surplus of cafes, restaurants, showers and toilets making it perfect for families!
The lifeguards on duty give you that extra peace of mind too. As the sectors progress away from the facilities, the views become more impressive and the beaches are more unspoilt. There is parking at both ends of Playa de Muro which is ideal if you’ve hired a car to load with all of the unforgettables for a family visit to the beach.
With water sports available here, it makes it a perfect beach for all and everyone, with the option of scuba diving offered for those dare devils!

Mallorca Holidays in October
October in Mallorca for local people is fast approaching Autumn time. The beaches are quiet, and whilst most of Europe is back at work or school, there are still tourists to be found in Mallorca. They are taking advantage of the bright days and mild temperatures.
There are many events at this time of year, but they are not the large scale fiestas of summer.
The Alcudia fair in October
The Fira D, Alcudia is celebrated in the old town of Alcudia on the first weekend of October. This Fair has an agricultural and commercial theme. Many local businesses take this opportunity to display their products. Government agencies also take part and display.
For those of us who enjoy our food, there are many gastronomic demonstrations from local restaurants. You can find many expositions of local delicacies. One of our favorites is the local dessert of ensaimada. Legend has it that the Moorish invaders introduced the sweetbread to Mallorca, as it is shaped like a turban. Another explanation is that one was presented to the catalán King Jaume 1st after his conquest of the island in 1229.
There are many variations of this typical Mallorcan dessert. Some of our favorites include fillings of white chocolate and walnuts and on a savory note. You could also try a filling of the spicy sausage of sobresadda.
La Fira de Miel, Llubi
The month of October brings the annual honey fair in the village of Llubi, in the Es Raiguer zone of Mallorca. This little anthropod takes center stage for a unique celebration of the many types of honey. It is derived from a long summer of hard work, thanks to the local bees of this pretty Mallorcan village.
Llubi has a long history of market gardening and its fertile soils have another crop that is well worth the journey to this little known Mallorcan village. The hardy caper plant is a mainstay of the Mallorcan housewife. Village of llubi has the unique conditions for the cultivation of this tasty Mediterranean bud. Capers are an essential ingredient in many Mallorcan dishes, the main one that springs to mind is Pa am boli.
What to See and Do in Mallorca in October
There is plenty to see and do in Mallorca during the month of October. All the tourist attractions are open, but we still recommend booking in advance. In October the island is in slowdown mode, but there is still plenty of tourist activity.
Mallorca with children in October
A common question is what is there to do with our children in the month of October? We are parents ourselves, so we understand the dilemma. At this time of year the older kids are back at school and there are many parents with preschool kids. Normally they are taking advantage of the value for money prices and end of summer sunshine. Not so high temperatures give more option to discover the island with the little ones.
Let’s go feed the animals
One of our firm favorites in the north of the island is rancho ses Roques. This is a family-run horse ranch and welcomes riders of all abilities. Of course, there is no way that you can bring a toddler on a horse. The idea is if mum likes to horse ride, there is a great mini-farm with all kinds of little animals for the kids to feed. Simply ask for a bag of barley at the bar and you can have a morning or afternoon of fun. The ranch is located at the end of the Pere mas y Reus Street in the Port of Alcudia.
For bigger kids we can recommend the amazing activity of pony riding. Something really cool, what they will remember from Mallorca. Especially if they try the horse riding for the first time. We encourage you to encourage your kids to try something new!
Let’s go for a bike ride
Mallorca is renowned for its popularity in the cycling world. The excellent road network and smooth surfaces make it perfect for the avid pedaller. When there are families involved it steps down a couple of gears. Mostly for the obvious reason that it is always better not to go too far from base with children.
The north of Mallorca is perfect for short cycling excursions with your family. There are many bicycle hire companies and all have options to rent bikes with child seats or kids bike trailers.
The main thorough fares can be avoided by taking the many side roads and quieter streets. We recommend the area of a small sandy cove such as the playa de St. Pere. It is located on the outskirts of Alcudia’s old town. Great chillout place, where you can spend a few hours before saddling up for the return journey.
Spotlight on Palma – The capital of the Balearics
Discover the gems of Palma
Mallorca’s awe-inspiring capital is a city steeped in history, culture and gastronomy to die for. Cathedral La Seu, the Almudaina Palace, and the Plaza Mayor are sites that are top of most visitors lists. The city of Palma has been inhabited by the Romans, Moors, and Berber pirates. King Jaume I who put an end to the Moorish reign in the Mediterranean island during the 13th century, was responsible for building some of the city’s most iconic constructions in Palma.
Old quarter is enclosed by 18th-century walls which were erected to repel pirates and corsairs. Travellers can discover many old churches, palaces and mansions with charming courtyards – there are over 40 dotted around the center of Palma.
If you would like to know more about history of Mallorca, we recommend our article below:
The most important historical facts about Mallorca
Mallorca has very eventful history, since prehistoric times through Phoenicians, Romans, Moors, Medieval Kings conquests… In this article we focus on moments with high historical significance, which have brought the island to its present cultural shape.
Can Joan de S’Aigo
Founded in 1700, one of Palma’s oldest and most famous establishments, Can Joan de S’Aigo, is much more than just a chocolate shop. The city’s oldest café, it is also highly regarded for its cocas (local pastries). And, one of its many other claims to fame is that it is reputed to have been the first ice-cream making parlor in Mallorca. The ‘S’ago’ of the name means water.
When founded more than 300 years ago, its main business was the sale of freshwater and ice sourced from the Tramuntana Mountains. The ice was merely snow which was stored in pits inside snow houses made from dry stone. And it provided the means for Mallorca’s first ice-cream – almond milk mixed with ice. So good was it, that local doctors recommended its consumption for medicinal purposes. The ice acted as a natural painkiller, and the almonds provided energy. Almond ice-cream continues to be among the most popular flavors in Mallorca.
Visit La Lonja in Palma
As Palma’s port grew in importance in the late Middle Ages, there was the need for a proper market and trading house for merchants. La Lonja (Sa Llotja) met this need. Built between 1420 and 1452, its Gothic style drew on details of church design which inspired its Felanitx-born architect, Guillem Sagrera. He is remembered by the road that passes by La Lonja – the Passeig (or Paseo) Sagrera. Over the entrance to this grand building is a sculpture of the Guardian Angel, the original patron of Palma. There are many other artistic works close by, such as the statue of Ramon Llull.
Palma Town Hall and square
Palma Town Hall is more commonly referred to as ‘Cort’. In the Plaça Cort, in front of the town hall building, was once the offices and tribunals of various authorities with interests in Mallorca. These offices were ‘corts’. The square assumed a prominent position in Palma’s life during the Muslim era. It was enclosed by walls and, by the time of the 1229 conquest, it was the administrative, commercial, judicial and religious hub of the city.
The first government of the new Kingdom of Mallorca was established at the Hospital de Sant Andreu, which is now the town hall library. In 1343, the hospital and the adjoining building – which had been for the Order of Saint George – became the location for the kingdom’s ‘jurist’, the medieval equivalent to today’s councilors. City´s town hall itself was known as the ‘Universitat’, a title it kept until the early eighteenth century when ‘Ayuntamiento’ (Ajuntament in Catalan) was adopted. The square ceased to be enclosed in 1921, the removal of the walls part of a process that had been ongoing for several years to open up the city and to introduce more light.
Famous in Mallorca: Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Austria
With all the turmoil in the world these days it is worth noting that Mallorca in October has much to offer the curious visitor at the quieter times of the year. Spain and Mallorca have been pioneers in tourism in the late twentieth century and right up to the present day. If we step back in time we can discover that the origins of tourism in this región came from the curiosity of visitors at the beginning of the last century and even the previous one.
Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Austria in Mallorca
One of Mallorca’s most famous visitors was the archduke Luis Salvador, born the 4th august 1847-12th October 1915. The archduke was maybe Mallorca’s greatest advocate, penning the 9 volume work Die Balearen. A study of all things on Mallorca from flora and fauna to the minute details of Mallorcan customs and life..
The archduke first visited Mallorca as the count of Neuendorf in 1867. And here began a love affair with all aspects of Mallorca, nature, its people, the crashing of the waves at his Tramuntana residence. You could say he was the inspiration for the millions of tourists to follow.
The archduke spent over 40 years of his life on the island of Mallorca and exploring the Mediterranean on his steam yachts Nixe and Nixe 2.
A visit to the Archduke’s residence and now the museum of Son Marroig can be enjoyed by appointment. You can experience the spectacular vistas and walk in the shoes of the illustrious son of Mallorca.

Marrakech offers dry desert sunshine, perfect for sightseeing and shopping as well as sunbathing, and you can stay in a palatial riad. It’s a good time of year to explore – head to the beaches of Essaouira, take a desert tour and cool off in the beautiful, tranquil Atlas Mountains.
Also consider: the riches of ancient Egypt. In Cairo you can expect highs of 29°C, falling at night to 18°C. Flying time from the UK is five hours. It’s also a great time of year to visit Istanbul – not too hot for sightseeing.

The Gambia
Average temperature in October: 32ºC
Hours of daily sunshine: 8
Flying time from UK: 6 hours
The Gambia is just a six-hour direct flight from London or Manchester and makes for one of the best-value beach holidays in October. This small West African country has friendly English-speaking people and a good range of accommodation including my personal favourite, the Kombo Beach. See the latest special offers.
Also consider: Jordan (25°C) for sightseeing and desert adventures. If you’ve never visited the rock-carved city of Petra, this is a great month to experience it, but there’s so much more to see including Jerash, the Dead Sea and the desert scapes of Wadi Rum. Check out this Splendours of Jordan 8-day tour.

Dubai, UAE

Hours of daily sunshine: 10
Flying time from UK: 7 hours
In the Arabian Gulf, hot weather in October is as good as guaranteed. There are four main options: Dubai, Oman, Abu Dhabi and – the new kid on the block – Qatar. Dubai is firmly established for its iconic hotels including the Burj Al Arab, exciting restaurant scene and Atlantis the Palm, home to the Aquaventure Waterpark. Abu Dhabi is catching up fast with stunning hotels, glamorous shopping malls and Yas Island, home to Waterworld, a Formula 1 track and the world’s fastest roller coaster. Oman is the choice if you want an authentic hint of Arabia. Meanwhile, Qatar has an emphasis on art, culture and high-adrenalin activities. See the best hotels.

Taormina, Sicily
Average temperature in October: 23ºC
Hours of daily sunshine: 8
Flying time from UK: 3 hours 10 mins
Sicily is a great place to visit in October because it’s not just about beaches (though these are lovely). With lots of sunshine and temperatures around 23°C, conditions are perfect for renting a car and visiting the medieval port of Syracuse and the charming town of Taormina set against the backdrop of Mount Etna. Check out these lovely quirky places to stay.
Also consider: Puglia near the southern tip of Italy, which will be uncrowded in October, as most Italians take their holidays in August.
-
Kalkan, Turkey
Average temperature in October: 25ºC
Hours of daily sunshine: 9
Flying time from UK: 4 hours (to Dalaman)
Turkey is a good option, and it’s cheap because the Lira has fallen sharply against Sterling. Temperatures on the Aegean Coast stay comfortably in the mid-20s. If you want a classy quiet resort with lovely local restaurants head to Kalkan or Fethiye.
Also consider: a gulet cruise along the dazzling Turquoise Coast. See more holiday ideas in Turkey and the hottest places in Turkey in October.
Long haul ideas in October
October is a good time to visit Mauritius. The island is home to many world-class luxury hotels, and the climate is perfect: temperatures of around 27°C with eight hours of daily sun.
October is generally a good time to visit Africa, particularly if you’re looking to combine safari and beach. Kenya is the classic destination where you can start with the Big Five in the Masai Mara followed by a lazy few days on the Indian Ocean coast, perhaps at Hemingways Watamu. Coastal temperatures typically reach 30°C.
How about a self-drive adventure in the USA. It’s the perfect time to see the autumn colours in New England, or you could embark on an epic road trip such as Route 66, or travelling the coastline of California.
If you prefer to stay in one place, we recommend Scottsdale, Arizona, a sophisticated resort set in the vast Sonora desert. Temperatures reach 35ºC in October but it’s a dry desert heat, so perfect for scenic hikes, e-biking and perhaps a round of golf at one of the many local courses. This 8-night Spectacular Scottsdale trip includes day trips to the Grand Canyon, the red rocks of Sedona and the OK Corral.
The dry season is starting in the Maldives, where you can expect temperatures of 29°C and seven hours of sunshine. See more weather info. If you love nature, but also crave some pampering, take a look at Madagascar which has fabulous beaches and unique nature experiences.
October is also an excellent time of year to visit Sri Lanka. It’s just coming up to the high season but still at low season prices. Rather than choose between a beach holiday and a tour, you can combine the two: spend a week visiting Buddhist temples, sacred rocks, national parks and the elephant orphanage, then unwind with a few days on the coast. There are some great boutique hotels and eco resorts,
First-time visitors to India should head for the Golden Triangle in the royal state of Rajasthan – Delhi, Agra and Jaipur – temperatures are high at around 33°C but it’s a dry desert heat, so it’s not humid. For something slower-paced, try this Treasures of Southern India tour in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. See a selection of private tours in India (with chauffeur and English-speaking guide) and small group tours.
This is also a good time to be in Vietnam – a great destination if you love modern history, ancient culture, street food, shopping and luxury hotels. These suggested itineraries will give you some inspiration.
For a good value beach holiday with guaranteed hot weather, it’s hard to top Mexico, particularly if you stay in one of these all-inclusive hotels. Cancun is great for nightlife, water parks and activities. We recommend the five-star Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa.
October is the dry season in Botswana, making it a prime time for big game spotting – the lack of rain means that animals gather around watering holes, guaranteeing spectacular sightings. The Chobe and Khwai River region has the highest concentration of elephants and lions in Africa.
It’s spring time in South Africa where Cape Town is a very pleasant 22°C. In the east, Johannesburg and Durban are in the high 20s. This is a wonderful time of year to visit Kruger National Park. We recommend this classic Cape Town, Winelands and Kruger safari adventure.
In Brazil, it’s an ideal time of year to visit Rio de Janeiro, and you can easily combine it with trips to the beach and the falls at Iguassu. For holidays in Brazil, we recommend Dehouche.
The Caribbean in October
October marks the tail end of the Caribbean hurricane season, but this can still be an excellent time to visit, and good value. Also, many islands lie south of the hurricane belt including Barbados, St Lucia and the Dutch island of Curaçao. See the Caribbean weather in October.

While October marks the end of the summer season in Mallorca, the island certainly doesn’t shut down. On the contrary, October is a popular month for people to visit.
Most of the seasonal hotels remain open until the beginning of November and offer some good rates in October and, with the average temperature reaching the mid-20s, there’s still enough sun to be soaking up those rays on the beach during the day – just remember to take a jacket out with you in the evenings!
While the beach clubs begin to wrap up, cultural activities, local fiestas and sports competitions steal the spotlight. Harvest fairs, food festivals, and sporting events are some of the most popular events taking place this month.

What’s on in Mallorca in October?
Traditional fiesta’s & fairs
Early autumn is traditionally associated with the harvest all around Europe, and this is no different in Mallorca. Many of the island’s rural towns celebrate with traditional fairs in October where you can expect live folk music, markets, shows and parties. Some last longer than others, such is the case of Llucmajor’s autumn fair which carries on over the course of the month. For arts and crafts, Alaró’s guild fair should be on your radar. Other inland villages will also be hosting their own harvest celebrations.
And, after harvesting, we eat! Food and drink seem to be the main focus in October as Mallorca honours its local produce with dozens of festivals all around the island. Take your pick: llampuga (‘mahi-mahi’ fish) in Cala Ratjada or llonguets (traditional sandwiches) in Palma every Wednesday throughout the month. Local produce is also celebrated with fairs dedicated to the sobrassada in Campos, sweets at the ‘Fira Dolça’ in Esporles or red peppers (‘pebre bord’, used to make paprika) in Felanitx.
The town of Inca will host lindy hop fans from all around the continent for a few days filled with swing and swagger. Dance workshops, live music, parties and gastronomic events are all part of the programme.
Palma de Mallorca Marathon
The increasingly popular Palma de Mallorca Marathon brings thousands of runners together for a marathon, a half marathon, a 10km race, a breakfast run, a pasta party and the Palma kid’s run. If you want to come along to support, you can watch them trot along some of Palma’s most iconic monuments, including the cathedral.
Oktoberfest
With so many Germans living and visiting the island, it should come as no surprise that Oktoberfest is also big here. One of the largest events is Palma’s Pueblo Español Oktoberfest celebration where a whole host of nationalities will be coming together to enjoy some authentic German food and beer.

recreation and weather in Mallorca (Spain)
Land that has survived vandal raids, pirate siege and plague pandemic; a place where Christian and Arab cultures harmoniously intertwine; “an open-air museum” and a “paradise in Spain” – all this is about Mallorca, the largest island of the Balearic archipelago.
Mallorca has already conquered thousands of tourists, including such famous personalities as Brigitte Bardot, Princess Diana, Winston Churchill and others. It is simply impossible to resist its natural beauties, favorable climate and excellent level of service. That is why foreigners who have visited Mallorca at least once come back here again and again.
The peak of the influx of vacationers falls on the summer months, but in autumn the pastime here does not become less comfortable. Moreover, the golden season has many advantages over the hot season. Kidpassage will tell you about what awaits you in Mallorca in October.
Holidays in Mallorca in October: advantages and disadvantages of the resort
October is already on the calendar, and warm summer still reigns in Mallorca. True, stuffiness and sweltering heat are left behind, which even plays into the hands of tourists. In autumn, holidays on the Spanish island become more pleasant than in the summer months. And this is far from the only reason why it is worth coming here at the end of the high season. Based on reviews of holidays in Mallorca in October, the second month of autumn is a good time for a vacation. And here’s why:
- the weather is still clear and warm, but the exhausting summer heat is gone;
- most of the month the Mediterranean Sea pleases with the optimal water temperature for swimming;
- there are much fewer foreign guests in the resorts of the island than in summer and in September;
- prices for vacations are decreasing, which pleases vacationers;
- tourists have the opportunity to visit happy holidays and even celebrate the Day of Spain with the locals;
- autumn is harvest time, so local markets are bursting with delicious and healthy fruits and vegetables.
The shortcomings of Mallorca in October include capricious and unstable weather. You will never guess at what moment the clear sky will be covered with clouds, whether the evening will be warm or dank. For this reason, it is better to stock up on sweatshirts and sweatshirts with long sleeves.
It is also worth noting that the Mediterranean cools down at the end of the month. Some tourists continue to swim, but for children, the water temperature of +20 ° C may already be cool.
Weather in Mallorca in October
The weather in Mallorca in October-November is warm, but you can clearly feel the fresh breath of autumn in the air. Tourists will not see lingering heavy rains and a leaden sky here, but there are much fewer sunny days.
The weather in early October is perfect for all kinds of recreation. The Mediterranean Sea has not yet cooled down enough to scare away bathers with low temperatures. It is moderately warm outside, during the day tourists feel comfortable in light clothes.
The temperature in Mallorca drops by a few degrees in mid-October, but it doesn’t feel that much colder. Even during this period, vacationers acquire a beautiful tan, and the likelihood of sunburn is minimized.
The weather in Mallorca at the end of October is sometimes unpredictable. In the last weeks of the month, cloudy days are increasingly observed. Because of the sea breezes and the drop in temperature, sometimes you want to put on extra clothes. Some tourists swim in the sea, but most are limited to the “wet their feet” option.
Air and water temperature
Mallorca’s climate is typical Mediterranean. This type is characterized by mild snowless winters and hot sunny summers. Due to the proximity of the island to the equator, it is comfortable to relax here all year round. The high season falls on the summer months, but many come here in the off-season, as well as on New Year’s holidays.
Air temperature in Mallorca in October
During the day, the average temperature in Mallorca in October is +24. 4 °C. At night, the mercury column drops to an average of +18.8 ° C. A few sweatshirts in your suitcase will do the trick. I especially want to warm up in the evenings.
Sea temperature
The Mediterranean Sea starts to cool down in October. The average water temperature is +23.4 °C. It is worth noting that at the beginning of the month, swimming is still fully available, while in the last ten days of October, not every daredevil will decide on long swims.
Rainfall
In October, rains become more frequent, but their amount is still not critical. Vacationers do well without umbrellas. For the whole month, about three rainy days are expected, which bring with them 30 mm of precipitation.
Sunny, cloudy, cloudy days
In mid-autumn, the weather begins to act up, but sunny days prevail over cloudy ones. On average, clear weather lasts for 22 days (70%). Clouds are expected 20% of the time. The remaining 10% is occupied by cloudy days.
Beach holidays
Most of October the Mediterranean Sea remains warm, the water starts to cool down only by the last decade of the month. Vacationers have time to swim, sunbathe, and breathe in plenty of fresh sea air. Mallorca has more than 200 beaches, including both equipped and “wild” areas, there are even places for nudists.
Spacious sandy beaches with well-developed infrastructure await tourists at every resort on the island. Many of the coastal areas have been awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness and environmental friendliness. All Mallorca beaches are municipal, so entry is free. But you will have to pay for the rental of umbrellas and sunbeds.
Calo des Moro
Not far from the municipality of Santanyi is the cozy Calo des Moro beach. There are significantly fewer visitors here than on the beaches of Palma, and in October, tourists can even count on solitude. The sea here is calm, there are almost never big waves, which is suitable for vacationers with children. The beach is considered “wild”, as it is not equipped with changing cabins, toilets, sun loungers and other attributes of a comfortable stay. However, the incredible beauty of the bay fully compensates for the lack of infrastructure.
Cala Mondrago
A small but very picturesque beach located on the territory of the national park of the same name. From all sides, “Cala Mondrago” is surrounded by rocks and pines, so there is almost never a wind here. The beach has sun loungers and parasols, and there is a bar and a restaurant nearby. This place is suitable for family holidays, as the entrance to the water is quite flat and gentle. Be sure to go diving or snorkeling – Cala Mondrago has incredibly clear water, allowing you to see all the beauties of the underwater world.
Cala Formentor
Cape Formentor is not only a popular swimming spot, but also a famous natural attraction. This beach has been awarded the Blue Flag. The territory is narrow, but stretches for 850 m in length, so there is enough free space, especially at the end of the season, when there are not so many vacationers. All the necessary infrastructure is at Cala Formentor. In addition, lifeguards monitor the safety of bathers. There are several places to eat close to the beach.
Sightseeing holiday in Mallorca
What is there in Mallorca! And winding mountain routes, and national parks, and ancient architectural monuments, and olive groves, and … It is difficult to list all the sights of the island in one article and it is simply unrealistic to see in one vacation.
Cathedral
The main cathedral of all the Balearic Islands is located in the capital of Mallorca, Palma. The construction of the Gothic temple lasted more than one century. Antonio Gaudi himself, who worked on the interior, contributed to the construction of this legendary building. Huge windows with stained-glass windows, the ark of the Life-Giving Cross encrusted with jewels, religious shrines, ancient canvases and jewelry – exhibits, Gothic architecture and interior decoration of the cathedral amaze tourists. In addition, organ music concerts are regularly held here.
Dragon Cave
The island has many caves open to the public, but the most famous is the Dragon Cave. The dungeon extends 2,000 meters deep; on the way of tourists there are stalactites and stalagmites, grottoes and underground lakes. One lake is artificially illuminated, you can sail on it by boat. At the end of the path, tourists are also waiting for an illumination that imitates the dawn.
It is still quite warm in early October, but still bring sweaters and jackets. In caves, the air temperature is several degrees lower, it is very easy to freeze.
A visit to the Dragon Cave will be a great adventure. According to legend, pirates and the Knights Templar hid their treasures here. Who knows, maybe you will be able to find the coveted chest with piastres?

The old town of Valldemosa
The small provincial town of Valldemosa is one of the local sights where you can 100% experience the local flavor. Even an ordinary walk around the city will give a lot of impressions, because in Valldemos there are no modern buildings and newfangled hypermarkets. It seems that time in the town stopped several centuries ago. At the end of October, you can walk along the narrow city streets for a long time, admiring the local authentic architecture.
It was here that the writer George Sand and her husband, the composer Chopin, once stayed. In the Carthusian monastery, where the couple lived, even a mini-museum was created. Other local attractions worth mentioning are Cathedral of Santa Catalina Tomas and Palace of King Sancho .
- Things to do with children in Mallorca
For visitors with children, Mallorca also has a lot to offer. Top things to visit:
- aquarium (Palma de Mallorca)
- Kathmandu Amusement Park (Magaluf)
- Safari Park (Cala Millo)
- Rope Park (Santa Ponsa)
- Marineland Water Park (Palma de Mallorca)
Holidays, events, festivals
The Spaniards are sensitive to their national traditions, so both religious and secular celebrations are celebrated brightly. The islanders love to have fun, in the local calendar every month is full of “red days”. Holidays in Mallorca in October are also in abundance.

Thus, the average daily price for accommodation in September is 173 euros, in October – 135 euros, and in November – 102 euros.

Meals and transfers
Spanish cuisine is one of the best in the world, and it’s not for nothing that national dishes are often found in the best Michelin-starred restaurants. In addition, almost all establishments in Mallorca offer the freshest seafood.
If you want to spend time in style in a restaurant and taste gourmet dishes, then get ready for a check amount of 50-100 euros (the price is indicated per person, excluding the cost of drinks). In a cafe, lunch will cost much less, about 30 euros. Visitors leave the least amount of money in cafes for local residents.
As far as the transport system is concerned, tourists have no problem getting around the island. It is convenient to get from one resort to another by bus. The cost depends on the distance and ranges from 3-10 euros. Two trains run around the capital of the island – a modern and an old excursion. Palma also has a metro. For convenience, you can use the services of taxi drivers who charge 3 euros for landing and 1. 5 euros for each subsequent kilometer.
How to dress in Mallorca
Your suitcase should have something for any weather. It is quite pleasant to walk in light summer clothes in the daytime hours, but with the onset of darkness, when coolness descends on the island, you will have to warm up.
Don’t forget your bathing suits. Even if the water in the Mediterranean Sea seems cool to you, you can always swim in the hotel pools or relax in one of the local water parks.
It is very easy to burn out in October, despite the apparent coolness. Do not neglect sunscreen and hats. This is especially true for those tourists who rest in Mallorca in the first week of the month.
Recommendations for families with children
October is a good time to spend holidays in Mallorca with children. But if you are firmly focused on a beach pastime, then you should come to the island in the first decade of the month.
- Family holidays in Mallorca: Kidpassage guide
In general, this period can be described as favorable for families: the weather is conducive to long walks, leisurely lounging on the beach and sightseeing. There are a large number of entertainment locations for young travelers, and many hotels are focused on guests with kids. Both teenagers and the smallest tourists will be satisfied with the autumn trip to Spain.
It is impossible to list all the advantages and unique features of the island, but Kidpassage has tried to collect the most entertaining of them in the article “9 interesting facts about Mallorca”.
Mallorca is love at first sight of the turquoise water surface, from the first breath of sea air, from the first sip of real Spanish wine. Treat yourself to an unforgettable experience by traveling to this piece of paradise in Spain.

About the weather in Majorca
October in Majorca, the largest Spanish island in the Mediterranean, is a great time for those who prefer a calm and beautiful holiday. The official beach season ends here in September, although the weather in October can still be quite hot (+24…+28°C, occasionally higher). However, in October, autumn comes into its own – and this means cool mornings, rough seas and rains. But with the same success, Mallorca can please with a warm sea (+ 25-26 ° C) and clear sunny days.
The party season on the island ends after the first week of October, so in the second half of the month the main contingent of tourists are European tourists aged 50 and older. It is also worth considering that many travel agencies stop selling tours to Mallorca in October, and most airlines stop direct flights at the end of September.
But how good is October for excursions in Mallorca! The town of Palma de Mallorca deserves special mention, nestled in a bay that is recognized as one of the most picturesque in the world. Ancient Palma enchants with its narrow medieval streets and squares, houses with traditional patios and small restaurants where it is so pleasant to dine while admiring the unhurried life of the town through the windows. No less beautiful is the town of Soller with its museums, the old Town Hall and the amazing bank building of the 13th century.
But Mallorca’s natural beauties are most striking: the stunning Serra de Tramuntana mountains, incredible expanses of meadows, mysterious caves and fabulous beaches, which are pleasant to visit even in cool weather.
Holidays with children in October can be diversified by going to the Marineland dolphinarium in Costa den Blanes or to the water park Hidropark Alcudia, which is usually open until the end of October (on a reduced schedule).
Well, you can get to know the soul of the island by visiting local holidays and festivals. In October, a classical music festival is held in Port de Soller, in the monastery of Santa Catalina. In Llucmajor, the Harvest Festival is magnificently celebrated, which includes the richest fairs, horse shows, concerts, a parade of giants and chants in the monastery of Sant Bonaventura. In Alcudia, at the beginning of the month, you can visit the Autumn Fair and stare at an amazing spectacle called “Estol del Rei En Jaume” – artists dressed in carnival costumes depict the main people in the history of Mallorca. And, of course, October is the time of the Sa Calobra TT races: the route runs from Ca Calobra to Port de Soller, and at the end of the event everyone will have a party and treats.

Mallorca weather monthly and now. Water temperature and weather forecast in Mallorca for a week, 14 days and a monthWeather in Mallorca by months and seasonsThe ocean is far away, the Equator is close. Summers are hot, springs are refreshing, winters are mild, autumns are rainy but very pleasant on sunny days.
Weather in Mallorca by months and seasons The island appeared to the world on the surface of the sea about 11 million years ago. As it was then, no one can say. Now there is a typical Mediterranean climate. The coastline of 554 km in the north is solid rocks and cliffs. In the area of Alcudia and Pollensa there are large wonderful bays, dearly loved by tourists. But connoisseurs also know the small ones, hidden near rural settlements far from the beaten paths. Families with children flock there. In summer, the cities of the island are overcrowded with tourists, which does not always cause exuberant delight of local residents. They say that in Palma de Mallorca they even banned rental housing. So focus on hotels and the countryside. The island has two long mountain ranges of extraordinary beauty. The highest point is the peak with the funny name Puig Major (1445 m). There are practically no fresh lakes and rivers. In the central part lies the orange-almond plain of Es Pla. Winds in winter and spring blow mainly from the north and southwest. Climate warming with outstanding summer heat has come here too. So take a closer look at the “off-season” seasons.
