Boca Chica Beach
Be aware of the tides and high tide line when choosing a beach campsite. Strong winds or storms can significantly elevate tides and create hazardous conditions along the Gulf Coast. Accessibility is not guaranteed, always scout ahead before driving on sandy beaches. Learn more: Boondocking 101

The beach is fantastic, and the proximity to the starship launch facility truly exciting. As remarked by others, there are parts with much more trash than on other beaches. Park your vehicle high enough, way away from the water! We had a windstorm one night and our awning of the RV got ripped to shreds, the metal arms bent and blown onto the roof! Worse though was the tide – it came in one day unexpectedly high, without any warning of the local tide watch website. We had to flee and literally drove through the waves… the photo is just a few minutes before all wheels went under water. Boards under the wheels saved us! Otherwise we would never have made it out. So we just made it back, but it was a close call!

Just had to see the southern tip of Texas for myself, and this spot is overdue for a review.
Not sure if this is typical or not, but I arrived to find the water practically lapping at the end of the road, so that’s where I stopped and camped. A Border Patrol truck came by while I was setting up, but left without comment so I guess that’s okay. Some trucks drove onto the beach to fish during the day but I wouldn’t risk hauling my trailer out there. I was nervous enough trying to get turned back around.
There was strong wind down from the North. I was the only camper. One group came in at sunset, built a fire and hung out til around 9 or 10 but otherwise, no action at night. Plenty of daytime traffic. Mostly people jumping out, taking selfies and leaving.
I hiked 2-3 miles from where the road ends to take a look at Mexico. I encountered nobody on the walk there. As has been commented, the Rio Grande border is basically a stream. There was one guy standing outside his truck on the Mexican side. I waved. He didn’t. There was also somebody who looked like they were collecting trash on the Texas side. They both looked a little curious at seeing me, but I never felt in any danger. There is some trash on the beach washed up from the shore, but nothing unusual for a public beach. The previous horrified reviewer may not get out much.
Verizon cell service was flaky. About a half mile from Mexico, it’s gone.

FYI we were really looking forward to camping here, but in the end we didn’t stay. First off, there is more trash washed up on this beach than we’ve ever seen anywhere. It’s really most unfortunate, but I suspect that much of it washes down the adjacent Rio Grande River, for none of the other beaches we’ve seen in this area of South Texas seem to have that much rubbish.
The other big concern that arose was for our personal safety. At the southern end of Boca Chica Beach, the only thing that separates it from the Matamoros, Mexico side is about 50 feet of waist deep, placid water. Walking across the border here would be a trivial exercise. See the photo that we’re attaching to this review, and then check out this article from 8/2019 in USA Today: https://www. usatoday.com/story/news/world/2019/08/27/playa-bagdad-us-mexico-border-town-occupied-drugs-crime-cartel/2131161001/ If the article is to be believed, the drug cartels maintain complete control of this exact corner of beach adjacent to Boca Chica Beach, and at the time I took the photo I was wholly ignorant of just how dangerous taking that photo was.
Boca Chica Beach would be an absolutely spectacular place to boondock, were it not for the prodigious trash and the drug running immediately adjacent to it. It’s a shame, but it wasn’t for us, and we moved to Isla Blanca County Park on South Padre Island instead.

We have stayed here twice during our annual winter trips to south Texas and camped on the beach for 7 days both times. There are NO services and no dump station in this state park and shopping is 25 minutes away, so pack everything you will need for your stay. On both of our stays we were virtually the only ones camping on the beach. The few people that drove the beach there to either fish, site see or picnic. The beach was well patrolled by US Boarder Patrol and so we felt safe the entire time, even when we were the only ones camping. This is one of our favourite spots in south Texas to free beach camp.

The dead body of a diver is found off the coast of Playa Chica –
8/30/22, 11:27 AM
By CECOES .
Lanzarote
The Emergency Services (CECOES) have reported that the dead body of a diver was found yesterday (Monday) not far from Playa Chica in Puerto Del Carmen in Lanzarote.
They received an alert at just after 4:00pm yesterday afternoon informing them of the discovery of a submerged body in a sea inlet by the pier, after which CECOES activated the necessary emergency resources to retrieve it from the water.
Two divers from the Lanzarote Emergency Consortium recovered the body and took it to the pier, where it remained in the custody of the Guardia Civil until the arrival of the judicial authority, who instructed it to be taken for an autopsy to be officially identified and find the cause of death.

The meaning of words in dictionaries
wordmap
The complexity and versatility of the Russian language sometimes surprise even its native speakers. The peculiarity lies in the lack of structure. After all, a lot of liberties are allowed not only in the construction of sentences. The use of some word forms also has several variations.
Difficulties and peculiarities of word processing
The Russian language has a huge number of assumptions that cannot be found in other cultures. Indeed, not only literary words are often used in speech, of which there are more than 150 thousand. But also dialectisms. Since there are many peoples and cultures in Russia, there are more than 250 thousand of them. Not surprisingly, even native speakers sometimes need to find the exact meanings of words. This can be done using explanatory dictionaries or a special WordMap service.
Why is such a platform convenient? This is a clear and simple dictionary of word meanings, which is proposed to be used online. The service allows:
- to find out the exact meaning of a word or idiom;
- determine its correct spelling;
- to understand how to properly emphasize it.
The site offers to get acquainted with the history of the word. It tells what language or culture it came from, when and by whom it was used in speech.
When looking up the meaning of words in a dictionary, it is important to understand its essence. After all, the sound component of each lexical unit in the language is inextricably linked with certain objects or phenomena. That is why when using the service, you should not put an equal sign between the meaning of the searched word and its concept. They are interconnected, but they are not a single whole. For example, the concept of the word “center” can be defined as the middle of something. However, specific meanings can indicate the interior of a room, a city, a geometric figure, etc. Sometimes it refers to a medical organization, mathematics or mechanical engineering. Polysemy is the complexity of the Russian language.
Finding values through WordMap
In order to find out what a word means, painstaking work has been carried out. After all, different manuals and collections can give different meanings of the same lexical constructions. To get the most complete picture of the word, you should contact the WordMap service. The system contains values from the most popular and authoritative sources, including dictionaries:
- Ozhegov;
- Dahl;
- medical;
- cities;
- jargons;
- TSB, etc.
Thanks to this, you can find out not only all bookish, but also figurative meanings of a lexical construction.

Tenerife’s best beaches | Viatores
The island of eternal spring, lost in the waters of the Atlantic, alluring and evergreen, all this is Tenerife. Throughout the year, thousands of tourists from all over the world come here, and thanks to the ideal climate and average air temperature of +23 … +26 degrees, the popularity of this resort remains unchanged. The Canary Islands are, first of all, a beach holiday, and although the waters of the Atlantic Ocean can hardly be compared with fresh milk, most of the vacationers come here just for this.
All the beaches on the island are free and you can sunbathe and swim wherever you like. Renting umbrellas and sun loungers, of course, for a separate fee (on average 6-8 € per set), but you can buy all this on the way to the beach, and even cheaper in supermarkets. Many hotels provide special beach towels. Keep in mind that you will not find separate private beaches belonging to a particular hotel here: everything is for everyone and be prepared for any contingent of vacationers in the neighborhood.
Most of the beaches in Tenerife are made of sand of volcanic origin, in some places the sand is completely black, which is very unusual and difficult to wash off from white towels and swimsuits. On the best beaches, imported white or yellow sand is mixed with volcanic sand. In the southern part of the island, the ocean warms up better and is well protected from the winds, moreover, the likelihood of rain in this part is minimal. In the northern part of the island, the water is much colder, the ocean is turbulent and the weather can deteriorate dramatically, especially in autumn, so the best beaches and the best resorts are concentrated in the south. The most popular Canary resort in Tenerife is the town of Costa Adehe. The beaches here meet high European standards and are at the very top of the ranking of the island’s beaches. The best are considered to be: Playa Torviscas, Playa del Duque and Playa de Fanabe.
Playa del Duque
Definitely number 1 on this list. Clean, picturesque and high quality – these are the main terms that can be used to characterize it. There are expensive hotels around and this greatly affects the contingent of tourists. The length of the beach is 460 m, the width is about 90 m.
Del Duc Beach in Costa Adeje
Playa de Fanabe and Playa Torviscas
In fact, one large beach, divided into two parts by a huge breakwater. There is a good infrastructure here: a beautiful embankment, a lot of cafes and restaurants, as well as shops, souvenirs and more. Both children and adults will definitely like it here and everyone will find something to their liking. Length – 930 m, width – up to 60 m.

Playa de Puerto Colon
Quite popular among tourists with small children due to the well-heated water in the bay, but the proximity to the port makes it not the most environmentally friendly on the coast. I would also like to highlight a good and pretty beach Playa del Camison (Playa del Camison), but we would not recommend Playa de Troya – it is located next to the most green street of the resort – Veronicas and the contingent here is appropriate. Playa del Bobo is an average, unremarkable beach, and Playa Honda is hardly a beach at all, due to the complete lack of infrastructure and amenities, as well as a terrible entry into the ocean.
Las Vitas (Playa de las Vistas) and Los Cristianos (Playa de los Cristianos)
The resort of Costa Adeje blends into the small resort town of Los Cristianos. There are two beaches here: Las Vitas (Playa de las Vistas) and Los Cristianos (Playa de los Cristianos). For relaxation and swimming, we recommend you the first one, it has a large, clean and well-groomed area and well-developed infrastructure, the second beach is too close to the port and we do not recommend swimming here.

Playa de la Tejita
In the southwest of the island, not far from the resort town of El Medano, is the largest natural sandy beach in Tenerife – Playa de la Tejita. It is very, very good here, very picturesque and not crowded, good entry into the water and there are even the beginnings of some kind of service, but do not forget that El Medano is a paradise for surfers and skysurfers and you run the risk of running into decent waves. The length of the beach is 1050 m, the width is up to 120 m.

Playa de la Arena, Playa Chica and Playa de los Guios
There are three beaches in the west of the island: Playa de la Arena la Arena), Playa Chica and Playa de los Guios. It is here that you can see the famous black-black volcanic sand, which, of course, is one of the hallmarks of Tenerife. The best in this trio is Playa de la Arena, but keep in mind that the black sand heats up in the sun so much that it is impossible to step on it without shoes, therefore, most likely, this is not the best place for families with small children, and one more thing Don’t wear white! J Playa Chica is the smallest and most undeveloped, and Playa de los Guyos is the most picturesque, it is here that you can touch the majestic cliffs of Los Gigantes.

Playa Jardin
We have already talked about the disadvantages of a beach holiday in the north, but if you still decide to stay in Puerto de la Cruz, we recommend Playa Jardin. Length – 400 m, width – up to 80 m.

Las Teresitas (Playa de las Teresitas)
And we would like to finish our review with the most beautiful beach of the island – Las Teresitas (Playa de las Teresitas). It is located a few kilometers from the capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The sand for this beach was brought specially from the Sahara desert. Thanks to the artificial barrier pier, there are practically no waves here, but it is precisely because of it that the water circulation in the bay is poor and it is far from the norms of the sanitary and epidemiological station. Despite this, Terisitas is very popular, because this is the only beach in the capital and you should visit it at least for the sake of wonderful photos.
