    Good to know

Los Jameos del Agua – Tourism in Lanzarote

Lanzarote never ceases to amaze us and another spectacular beauty that you must visit when you are on this wonderful island is Los Jameos del Agua.

Los Jameos del Agua, consists of a natural space, where a centre for art, tourism and culture was built; this attraction is located in the municipality of Haría, towards the northern part of the island of Lanzarote.

The entire structure comprising Los Jameos del Agua was designed and developed by the architect and artist César Manrique.

Jameo is a word originating from the aboriginal language and refers to the holes resulting from the collapse of the roof of a volcanic tube.

The Jameos del Agua are located in the inner part of the volcanic tunnel that was produced by the eruption of the Corona Volcano.

The area of the tunnel known so far is 6 kilometres long, of which approximately 1.5 kilometres are under the sea, which is why this area is called the Tunnel of Atlantis.

What to do in Jameos del Agua

The space created by nature was intervened by the architect and native artist of Lanzarote, Cesar Manrique; his intention was to make available to tourists and visitors a space to contemplate nature in all its splendour.

This was the first art, tourism and recreation centre conceived and realised by Manrique, reflecting his basis for creativity: the existence and permanence of harmony between nature and artistic creation.

Jameos del Agua is the perfect place where man and nature embrace each other freely; Cesar Manrique’s creativity allowed him to shape the basalt to create spaces full of harmony, beauty, peace and tranquillity.

Walking through Jameos del Agua it is possible to find many unique and impressive spaces and corners, with a natural lake of crystalline waters and a barrel vault that somehow resembles the nave of a cathedral.

This space has a hole in the upper part through which an impressive beam of light penetrates from above.

Crossing the lake laterally by means of a footbridge, one arrives at Jameo Grande and there it is possible to observe an impressive garden, with a wonderful vegetation of palms, cactus and fig trees.

If you continue on past Jameo Grande, you will find the magnificent Auditorium, located inside a volcanic rock, a unique place due to its acoustic and geological conditions.

It is also possible to encounter the blind crabs, a species endemic to the area, which are continually moved by the high and low tides.

Activities and timetable of Los Jameos del Agua

The opening hours of Los Jameos del Agua are from 10:00 to 18:30 hours; except Tuesdays and Saturdays when it is from 10:00 to 00:30 hours.

Just having the opportunity to visit this unique and marvellous place and taking the time to appreciate it properly and adequately is enough to live and have a different and special experience.

Its atmosphere, spectacular and unique in the world, where the natural and the artistic are combined in a totally harmonious way, is still a little hard to believe.

The ingenuity and creativity of this artist and architect, César Manrique, allow visitors to discover and get to know a place full of peace, harmony and incomparable beauty; in spaces that call for reflection, to put the imagination to work and to live moments of reverie and introspection.

Other Tours and Surfing in Lanzarote

Apart from visiting Los Jameos del Agua, there are many other activities in Lanzarote for tourists and visitors to enjoy and get to know the paradise that is the island of Lanzarote.

You can take a tour of the main tourist attractions of the island with native guides to learn first hand the history of the area.

You can visit the island’s beaches, which are very popular and fabulous with their white and golden sands such as Playa Blanca, Playa Dorada and Playa Flamingo.

You can also go surfing, no matter what time of the year you visit Lanzarote, as its characteristics favour the practice of this sport all year round.

The island has schools to learn to surf, especially in Caleta de La Famara, where you will find the “Calima” Surf School Lanzarote, with the best instructors and coaches who can teach you surfing from the basics to expert levels.

    Pros

    • Main restaurant can feel overcrowded

    Cons

Located across the street from a long, sandy beach, the 530-room Seaside Los Jameos Playa is an upper-middle-range resort catering to families and couples wanting a bustling vacation. The full entertainment program offers activities for all ages, including fitness classes for adults, crafts and games for kids, and family-friendly evening shows, while the pools are big and pleasant, with lots of palm trees and shaded areas. Loungers, however, tend to get reserved early in the morning. Rooms are clean and comfortable, but some may find the traditional decor dated, consisting of basic wicker furniture, thin bedspreads, and generic artwork on walls. Food gets particularly great reviews at this all-inclusive, but those on a different meal plan can also find many dining options within a few blocks. Couples wanting something quieter may want to compare rates at Las Costas.

Large all-inclusive with a stunning Canarian-style lobby and bustling atmosphere

Housed in several low, whitewashed buildings, the Seaside Los Jameos Playa oozes local charm even from the outside. The main entrance is designed in Canarian colonial style, featuring a number of arches made with volcanic stone, a pristine white facade, and a dark wooden balcony. Small black-sand gardens with cacti and colorful flowers flank the front steps. The most impressive feature, however, is the jaw-dropping lobby, designed to resemble a Canarian courtyard with a huge skylight, exposed wooden beams, and beautiful wooden balconies overlooking lush indoor gardens. At the end of the lobby, massive windows offer views of the lovely grounds and the sea beyond, while cane chairs with pillows in pink hues tie in well with the traditional architecture. The hotel has been around for a few decades, and the style, though charming, may feel a bit dated to some, especially the old-fashioned furniture in bars and tiling around the pool bar.

The entertainment team keeps guests busy with fitness classes, sport competitions, and music, and the atmosphere is bustling — sometimes a bit too much so during peak season, with loungers around the pool getting snatched up before breakfast, and crowds at the restaurant for dinner. Rates are standard for the area, but families on a tighter budget may want to check out the Sol Lanzarote, though food is better at Los Jameos Playa. Sentido Aequora Lanzarote is another good option with slightly lower rates and more modern rooms. Couples seeking some peace and quiet may prefer La Isla y El Mar, an upscale boutique with large suite-style rooms and two lovely pools.

Across the street from a beach, and near many restaurants and bars

The hotel is located right across the promenade from Los Pocillos Beach, a long stretch of sand in eastern Puerto del Carmen. Matagorda Beach can be reached in about five minutes on foot. There are several bars and restaurants within three short blocks of the hotel, but the city center — located a five-minute drive away — offers a wider array of drinking and dining options. Puerto del Carmen’s lively main drag is about a half-hour walk (or five-minute drive) along the beach, while Timanfaya National Park, home to several stunning volcanoes, is a 25-minute drive from the hotel. The Lanzarote Airport can be reached in about six minutes by car.

Clean, comfortable rooms with traditional decor and balconies

The hotel’s 530 rooms are divided into four main types, plus three additional subcategories. Though the system can be a little confusing because most only differ slightly (some have a bigger balcony, others are on the ground floor), all are similar in both style and amenities. Rooms are decorated in a simple traditional style consisting of light pinewood furniture with small carvings, thin bedspreads, and plain white walls hung with a couple of generic paintings. White wicker tables and chairs, and a soft blue-and-white palette lend rooms a charming beachy feel, but the style is old-fashioned overall.

Amenities are decent for the price, and include seasonal air-conditioning, electric kettles, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. Mini-fridges are available in all rooms as well (and can be stocked for a fee), but safes are an extra charge, except for guests staying in a Junior Suite or Suite. Straightforward bathrooms are spotless, equipped with low shower/tub combos, white tiles throughout, and spacious marble counters. Toiletries, including nail files and combos, are provided in all rooms, as are hairdryers and magnifying mirrors.

Families can choose from a range of room types, depending on the number of kids and their ages. Family Rooms are good for those traveling with an older child and a baby, as they can fit in an additional bed and a crib. However, families with two older kids may want to book a Suite, as they are more spacious and have a double sofa bed.

Four pools, kids’ club, spa, gym, and great food

The hotel is centered around four pools, including two for families (one heated in the colder months) and two for kids. There are dozens of loungers all packed together on the large deck, but there have been many complaints of most getting reserved early in the morning. The atmosphere is loud and busy, but there is a slightly quieter area with additional loungers closer to the promenade. The kids’ club has an indoor space for arts and crafts, as well as an outdoor area with a playground and a 13-hole mini-golf course. A full entertainment program includes evening shows and live music. Albeit small, the spa is attractive and features two treatment rooms and an area free for all guests, complete with three saunas, shock showers, a cold plunge pool, and an outdoor area. For exercise, the gym is spacious and well-equipped, plus there are tennis, squash, and volleyball courts for those who prefer team sports.

There is one restaurant at Los Jameos Playa, serving up a varied buffet with lots of salads and a show-cooking area with fish, meat, and veggies. The snack bar is located between the two family pools, and serves not only alcoholic drinks and a few small bites, but also crepes, cake, and hot drinks. Food gets consistently great reviews here, and there are several meal plans to choose from, including breakfast-only, half-board, and all-inclusive.

LOS JAMEOS DEL AGUA – 20 SINGLE-FAMILY HOUSES IN A ROW IN EL BERCIAL (Getafe). Madrid.

    View Gallery

    +19

In this project of single-family homes in Getafe we have applied a concept that arises from the phenomenon of -Jameos del agua-; a natural space and an art, cultural and tourism center devised by César Manrique. Located in the north of the island of Lanzarote, it is also considered an area of ecological sensitivity. For this reason, we want to achieve a unique space from the place where the project is located. This concept has inspired a promotion of 20 single-family homes, within the neighborhood of -El Bercial-, in the municipality of Getafe. The site is bordered on its three sides by streets; three roads with road and pedestrian traffic and one pedestrian. This allows us to obtain four facades from the set. The project aims to respond to a situation of “urban unity” emerged as a small finding, something different found at random, just as when an astrologer suddenly discovers that heavenly body that he was looking for precisely in the most unexpected place. On the other hand, the term of Jameos alludes to the volcanic tubes that lack crowning and these specifically belong to the great underground cavity – one of the largest in the world – that runs from the Corona Volcano. The spectacular geological space of Jameos del Agua was a place that was already known but was in a state of neglect and degradation. In the common areas, the formal details of the furniture, decoration, gardening or lighting have been taken care of in the project inspired by this natural phenomenon.

With a design that differentiates it from its surroundings, Los Jameos del Agua combines the privacy of a single-family home with the ease of a neighborhood relationship in interior common areas equipped with sports facilities and living areas, simply opening the door to our back porch. José María Carrillo exposes the key that will continue in his spatial intervention: with the play of cracks as perforated or eroded by water on the facades, materialized in the envelope with concrete panels and aluminum composite panels, and reminiscent of the natural phenomenon del Lapiaz, in tune with contemporary artistic languages in contrast to more serene lines that turn to a central area with green areas, different hard textures and the sheet of water in the pool reminiscent of the Jameos del Agua. A recipe that is synthesized in the binomial Art-Nature and that gives rise to a masterful combination of landscape and aesthetic value.

The most beautiful places on the planet (part 17)» Traveler’s map1429 In the northeastern part of the Chinese state, near the beautiful town of Panjin, there is an amazing place – a bright beach with the quite predictable name “Red Beach”.

The colorful pond, located in the picturesque delta of the beautiful Liaohe River, is completely dotted with vegetation, which, dying in early autumn, gives the water space a specific reddish tint.

In spring and summer, lush seagrass plantations are deep green. But with the advent of autumn, everything changes. The luxurious green carpet turns blood red, and the surrounding landscapes become unrealistically fantastic.

The beach is delightful at low tide, when the water, receding, reveals a riot of bright colors that transform the fabulous coast of the Chinese province. You can admire the breathtaking spectacle while standing on specially constructed high bridges, the network of which surrounds an impressive part of the beach. Just walking along the bright red shores is unlikely to succeed, because the Red Beach is a nature reserve, access to which is open only to tourists.

But not only tourists are in a hurry to admire the beauties of the water area, these places attracted a huge number of birds, among which there are also disappearing ones. In total, there are over 230 species of birds in the reserve. Here you can see the endangered graceful Japanese crane, imposingly strolling along the magnificent burgundy-red carpet.

Spain, Canary Islands archipelago, Lanzarote island, Cueva de los Verdes cave

The magnificent underground galleries of the Cueva de los Verdes cave is an amazing attraction, the origin of which is a powerful attraction. During an eruption that occurred a couple of millennia ago, a powerful lava flow, making its way to the ocean, formed a huge tunnel. Its length exceeds 6 kilometers, so it is rightfully considered the longest on Earth. Cooling down under the influence of air and sea water, the lava hardened, forming the massive vaults of the future cave. Hot magma continued to work inside the “lava tube”, flowing down, it expanded the interior space of Cueva de los Verdes, giving the walls and dome an interesting shape, and the surface texture.

    e-44582″ src=”http://travelermap. ru/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/cueva_de_los_verdes-1024×768.jpg” alt=”cueva_de_los_verdes-1024×768″ srcset=”http://travelermap.ru/wp -content/uploads/2015/04/cueva_de_los_verdes-1024×768.jpg 1024w http://travelermap.ru/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/cueva_de_los_verdes-1024×768-165×124.jpg 165w /wp-content/uploads/2015/04/cueva_de_los_verdes-1024×768-453×340.jpg 453w” />
The volcanic tunnel has been known since time immemorial. Back in the 16th century, local residents hid in ornate galleries from filibusters who frequently raided the islands. Pirates took the islanders into slavery, and only the cave saved them from a sad fate. The Cueva de los Verdes, which has several entrances, was a safe haven until the traitors uncovered the secret of the lava tunnel.

Spain, Kanar Islands, Lansarot Island, Hameos Del Agua

Hameos Del Agua, is essentially a continuation of the above Cueva de Los Verdes. It was also formed due to the violent activity of the volcano many centuries ago. From the language of the natives living on the island of Lanzarote, “Jameos del Agua” is translated as “Emptiness with water.”
Under the influence of natural forces, large-scale voids-halls and bizarre galleries appeared in a huge tunnel. Over time, the cave turned into a picturesque attraction, the arrangement of which was worked not only by the elements of nature.

Thanks to the efforts of Cesar Manrique and the little-known artist Jesus Soto, an ordinary underground pipe has become a unique natural and cultural center, which includes two grandiose parts: the fabulous Hameo Chico and the beautiful Hameo Grande (Small and Great Void). The magnificent ensemble opens with an amazing snow-white lagoon, and closes with the “House of Volcanoes”, which is also a scientific laboratory and a museum. Important volcanological research has been carried out here since 1987.

Ornate corridors, huge halls with high arches, a beautiful concert hall with wonderful natural acoustics – the amazing underground ensemble of Jameos del Agua is an example of the harmonious interaction of modern art and the creative forces of nature.

In open areas, the temperature reaches a comfortable 19 degrees, and stays at this level throughout the year.
The main attraction of the cave is an emerald lake with salt water. A fabulous pond, framed by stone vaults, is filled with the purest water. The bottom and all its inhabitants are visible through the crystal thickness. The salt lake sheltered completely blind miniature albino crabs, miraculously moved here from the bottom of the ocean.

The depth of the clear water depends on the tides. Sometimes it grinds, exposing huge cobblestones, sometimes it fills up so much that the water reaches specially constructed viewing platforms. But this does not prevent enthusiastic tourists from admiring the magical beauties of underground landscapes, which, in the light of lamps and spotlights, are an enchanting picture.

Hameo Chico – the magical grotto of the volcanic pro

origins. Steps carved from stone lead to it. The interior of the grotto is an inspired play of contrasts. Against the background of black vaults, textured artistic motifs are visible, and the underground hall is refreshed by the lush greenery of exotic plants.
Jameo Grande – a large and very beautiful void. Its main attraction is the amazing concert hall, under the vaults of which unforgettable concerts are very often held.

The main decoration of the cave ensemble is an artificially created lagoon. The striking contrasts of the surrounding landscapes fascinate. The snow-white sands framing the blue water compete with the bizarre forms of black volcanic rocks. Expressive confrontation reveals the aesthetic ins and outs of a magnificent composition. To contemplate such a spectacle is a real pleasure, the only thing that upsets is that the azure waters of the beautiful lagoon are completely unsuitable for swimming.

Another interesting object of the underground galleries is the Hameo Chico restaurant, where you can treat yourself to a cup of incredibly delicious coffee or taste exotic dishes from local chefs.

South Italy, Polignano a Mare, a restaurant in the rock “Grotta Palazzese”

An unusual restaurant has been built in one of the rocky cliffs framing the picturesque shores of Polignano a Mare. Its halls, interconnected by open passages, are located under the vaults of a limestone cave.

Sitting at a table you can admire the endless blue of the sea, listen to the monotonous melody of the surf beating against the rocks and enjoy the exquisite taste of Mediterranean cuisine.

Restaurant “Grotta Palazzese”, which is part of the hotel of the same name, and is open to visitors only in the warm season.

Romania, Transylvania, the city of Sighisoara

The colorful Romanian town of Sighisoara is spread among the picturesque landscapes of the Mures County. Colorful alpine nature emphasizes the beauty of ancient ensembles that adorn the ornate streets of the city to this day. A lot of medieval houses that have retained their original appearance, the Mountain Church dating back to the 15th century and a massive clock tower equipped with chimes – all this is an invaluable asset not only of the beautiful city, but of the whole country.

The urban scenery of Sighișoara is complemented by the monumental compositions of the castles: the castle of Betlhlen dating back to the 15th-17th century, the castle of Cris built in the 16th century, the Teleki fortress built in the 18th century, dating from the 13th century of Dumbrăvioara, as well as a beautiful church erected around the 13th century.

The history of the original town crowning the top of the hill above the Tirnava Mare River is full of remarkable events. Founded in the 13th century by German colonists, Sighisoara soon became not only a craft, but also a trading center for all of Eastern Europe. The buildings originally erected in the city (Clock Tower, fortresses, churches) were supplemented by handicraft workshops that were progressive for that era. Sighisoara flourished, its colorful streets attracted noble nobles, luxurious houses surprised with rich decoration, and lush nature fascinated with a riot of colors.

Here, in this city surrounded by a massive protective wall, Yuri I Rakoczy was crowned, here the exiled Vlad Dracula minted his coins.
The city had a chance to survive a single test sent down by the powerful forces of nature. But neither earthquakes nor fires destroyed the historical monument, included in the list of priceless heritage of UNESCO.

Last days in Lanzarote. Beach, Valley of a Thousand Palms and Jameos del Agua

Finally I decided on the last part 🙂
On the last day we had a plane in the afternoon, we even had a sightseeing tour of Arrecife (the capital of Lanzarote) and Jameos del Agua in the morning (Jameos del Agua) is another work by Cesar Manrique, and on the previous day, the last full day, we decided to watch something like that. I read that one valley remained in Lanzarote, which was practically not affected by the last eruption – this is the Valley of 1000 Palms. That’s where we went, and then fell on the beach and beached until the very last ray of the sun 🙂 I will say right away that January is not the best time for a beach holiday in Lanzarote, I personally did not dare to swim, but I got my share of ultraviolet 🙂 and not only me 🙂

On the way we passed the Timanfaya National Park again 🙂 on the interesting side, we even ran to take pictures, the palm trees are so interesting

    to Graciosa.

Here she is! Valley of a Thousand Palms!

And then the beach!!!!! Why have we already come to this beach for the umpteenth time? Because this rock on the right protected the entire beach from the wind and it was warm, warm here. The entrance to the water in the bay was like that, there was practically no excitement, the children could splash

We go, the car in the parking lot for the road for

But the Lizka was even bathed 🙂

    Another beach 🙂

    gangster-gangsterito 🙂

    killer :))

    portraying a great traveler 🙂

they shook the old days so much that I almost got a camera, I’m fine :))) but the camera would be a pity 🙂

there was even a detailed report here 🙂 from a series of how it is done

for memory, or maybe someone will come in handy – here it is our beach

    Agua (Jameos del Agua).

This complex of volcanic caves in the northern part of Lanzarote, designed by the architect Cesar Manrique, embodies the harmony between nature and artistic creativity.

Opened to the public in 1977, the Jameos del Agua complex was the first Art, Culture and Tourism Center of Lanzarote.

The complex is part of the volcanic caves formed as a result of the eruption of the Corona volcano. The lava that flowed down the slope of the volcano cooled as it reached the ocean, which caused the surface layer to solidify, while the rivers of lava continued to flow at lower levels, forming extensive caves. Over time, under the influence of erosion or as a result of an explosion of gases, the surface collapsed in places, which led to the formation of volcanic grottoes (“chameos”), connected by underground tunnels.

The entrance to the territory of the complex is through a “small grotto”, connected to the “big grotto” by a gallery 100 m long and 13 m wide, crossing an underground lake (the level of which is regulated by the Atlantic Ocean), which is inhabited by unique albino crustaceans that are not found anywhere else in the world.

At the end of the “big grotto” there is a unique concert hall with 600 seats, amazing with its acoustics, which regularly hosts concerts and theatrical performances.

Blind white crabs live in a sinkhole in the lake. Those white dots are what they are.

Photos do not convey the feeling of unity with nature, complete dissolution and relaxation! yet Manrique was a genius!

Inside the Lansarot Museum, volcanic activity, was shown as an island, which is generally volcanic activity on the planet at different times. In general, it was interesting 🙂

After Chameos, we drive to Arecife, on the way we look at the lava flows from above, there are lava caves inside, where we have just been.

Arecife Plane coming soon. The hedgehog fell asleep right in the chair 🙂 I had to transport it like this 🙂 We are waiting for landing

And this is Arseniy’s plane – they are not flying to Frankfurt – but to Dusseldorf – a couple of minutes difference between our planes 🙂

We really liked this small but very beautiful island! It was especially great to go from winter to summer 🙂

    Lanzarote

    Lanzarote –
the fourth largest island in the archipelago

    Spain

    Canary Islands
    Lanzarote Island
refers to the Canary Islands. It is also called “the island of fire-breathing
mountains “, since on a small island about 60 long and 15 wide
kilometers, there are about three hundred volcanoes.

Lanzarote – an island that bizarrely combines two elements – the fury of a volcano and
tranquility of the Atlantic. Lanzarote can be called without exaggeration one of the
the most unique places on our planet. black land island sharply
contrasts with the bright whiteness of its endless sandy beaches and flooded
the sun of the sparkling clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean, bewitching
    the most sophisticated traveler.

In the autumn of 1730, 30 volcanoes began to erupt simultaneously, covering
island layer of lava and ash. The eruption continued for six years, and as a result
a third of the island was covered in ash.

The fourth largest island in the archipelago
completely devoid of vegetation. Much of Lanzarote is covered
frozen lava – the result of numerous eruptions that completely changed
his face. Multi-colored lava fields, where films about the planets are shot, on
which have not yet begun life. Three hundred volcanic peaks in silence
remind of their presence, and a dry lichen that has fallen into a shallow hole
bursts into flames. Volcanoes have lost their former greatness, but have not gone out,
as it may seem at first glance…

Capital of Lanzarote – Arrecife – located
on the southeast coast. Almost half of all people live in the city
islanders, there is a seaport and the only high-rise building on the island.
There are several hotels here, but tourists rarely stay in Arrecife,
preferring resort centers that are more attractive for recreation.

    Lanzarote International Airport is five
kilometers from the capital. There are no direct flights from Russia, so you will arrive
here either from the island of Tenerife, or from some intermediate
European city. The airport is connected with Arrecife by bus service, and
resorts are reached with a transfer through the capital’s bus station or by taxi.

Civilization did not destroy this amazing island, did not bypass it, it
tried to befriend him. The locals build houses in the traditional
style, as their great-grandfathers once built, low-rise hotels do not spoil
natural landscape, even at the peak of the season there is no crowd of tourists. Harmony,
    which soothes the soul.

At the same time, Lanzarote boasts a good
developed resort infrastructure and a large selection of accommodation options:
from modest apartments to grand luxury hotels with
    first-class restaurants and spa centers.

The main resorts of the island are located on both sides
from Arrecife and south. The largest of them is Puerto del Carmen. Around
The resort of Playa Blanca hid the most beautiful beaches. And on the west side
Lanzarote tourists are waiting for the local attraction number 1 – the national park
Timanfaya, those very volcanoes that once changed their appearance beyond recognition
    islands.

Small towns in the central part of the island still remember the first settlers
and carefully preserve cultural traditions. In the north, a one and a half kilometer strait
separates Lanzarote from the tiny island of Gracios, where, according to legend,
cruel pirates hid the stolen treasures. Another north of Lanzarote is known
the green “Valley of a Thousand Palms”: this was the whole island before the eruptions.

Comfortable, hospitable and at the same time
the unique island of Lanzarote offers an unforgettable spectacle to everyone who
succumb to the magic of this land. you simply must visit the National
Timanfaya Park, Los Verdes Cave and Jameos del Agua Underground Lake,
the areas of Haria and Golfo, the observation deck on the island of La Graciosa and much more
much more. Experience the tropics without crossing the Atlantic Ocean.

Lanzarote declared by UNESCO at 1993 biospheric
reserve, the island impresses with the harsh beauty of volcanic landscapes,
contrasting with the dazzling whiteness of traditional Canarian houses.
It was on Lanzarote that the volcanic origin was most clearly manifested.
the entire archipelago – observing the panorama of the Timanfaya National Reserve,
it seems that the world is born from the ocean right before your eyes. At depth 10
meters, the temperature of the earth here reaches 600 ° C, and the entire plant world
Lanzarote is nourished by the moisture retained by the covering surface.
    earth with volcanic sand.

Parque nacional de Timanfaya. This national
The park, established in 1974, covers an area of about 50 sq. km. The park has
scientific and educational value, besides it is a picturesque place, not
the territory of which there are a large number of volcanic craters.

The most important volcanoes are in the central part,
between Mount Timanfaya (Montana de Timanfaya) and Mount Rojada (Montana Rojada).
Timafaya is predominantly a geological park that offers us
the opportunity to visit the past, as the park showcases the land, to the outside
view, reminiscent of the one that was millions of years ago. Walk in the park
Timafaya is reminiscent of exploring the heart of our planet.

Jameos del Agua complex is part of
volcanic caves formed as a result of the eruption of the Corona volcano.
The lava that flowed down the slope of the volcano cooled as it reached the ocean, which
led to solidification of the surface layer, while lava rivers
continued to flow at lower levels, forming extended caverns.

Over time due to erosion or
explosion of gases, the surface collapsed in places, which led to
the formation of volcanic grottoes (“chameos”), connected by underground
tunnels. Open for visiting at 1968, the Jameos del Agua park became
the first tourist center of Lanzarote. Entrance to the complex
carried out through the “small grotto” connected to the “big grotto”
a gallery 100 meters long and 13 meters wide, crossing an underground lake in which
inhabited by unique albino crustaceans that are not found anywhere else in the world.
