Playa de las Americas, near Tenerife’s southwestern tip, is a lively, upbeat resort built in the 1960s. Today it’s crammed with British restaurants, bars and hotels and North European tourists. Its white sands attract hordes of sun worshippers, while nearby El Medano is famed for its windsurfing. Top attractions include sailing, golf and dinner theater shows, but it’s the nightlife on Veronica’s Strip that is the top draw for the crowds of young tourists who flock here to party around the clock.

Shopping Malls in Playa Del Carmen
Tweet
There are two shopping malls in Playa Del Carmen. These are Plaza Las Americas and Centro Maya. Not too many foreign tourists go to these malls since there is so much shopping on 5th Avenue but they can provide another option for clothes and just some entertainment perhaps on a rainy day.
Malls in Mexico are not as big in size and popularity as the rest of North American but they are gaining. As Playa Del Carmen grows, so has the mall culture. Here is what you will find here for shopping and what is good to check out.
Plaza Las Americas Mall
This is the most popular and largest of the two malls (not to be confused with the same name mall in Cancun “Plaza Las Americas“). It is very popular for the local 20-30 year olds to go to on the weekend, especially Sundays when most people have off. The young crowd likes to shop, walk around to see friends and especially go to the movies.
Movie Theater in Plaza Las Americas Mall
The Cinepolis Movie Theater is one of the biggest draws here. People like to see movies in Mexico. The movies theaters are clean, inexpensive, air conditioned and many movies are in English (which can be nice because there are less people and not as many kids). For more about going to the movie theater in Playa Del Carmen check out our article.
Stores at Plaza Las Americas Mall
In the mall you can find Sears, Coppel, and a Chedraui grocery store as the anchors of the mall. There are more small stores then department stores. For smaller stores there are several athletic wear stores, shoe stores, GNC, small appliance and furniture stores, clothing stores, sunglasses, one pet store, Stern electronics store, and a hair salon. For clothes we like Lob. It is a mid-range priced clothing store for both men and women.
Other Attractions in this mall
There is one of the three casinos in Playa Del Carmen here. It is considered the best casino in Playa but that is not saying too much. It is called Winpot Casino.
There is one game court for kids or kids a heart. It has tons of video games, pool tables and other games.
The Krispy Kream donut store is a huge attraction. It is at a kiosk neat the movie theater.
Food Court
The food court consist of fast food joints, Mexican, Chinese, pizza and Cajun food. You can eat here for about 80-150 pesos per person. Most locals like it for a not so healthy treat meal on the weekend. Check out the juice place in the back right hand corner. You can get large fruit drinks that are pretty tasty there.
For snacks, check out the ice cream cart outside the mall on the south side by the entrance. They have some very Mexican flavors. On the north entrance outside they make churros. They are long fried dough like donuts and can be filled with crème, chocolate or several other mouth watering things.
The food court at Plaza Las Americas mall
Parking at Plaza Las Americas Mall
Plaza Las Americas has underground parking which is nice when it is very hot and sunny. Your car does not heat up so much. You can enter from both sides of the mall and it is free parking. There is also outdoor parking. It gets more crowded on the north side and often there is a little traffic congestion there on the weekends.
Taxi or Bus to the mall?
A taxi from the center is supposed to be 35 pesos. They drop you at the south side unless you request another entrance. It is cheaper to get to this mall by taxi than Centro Maya. It is best not to ask how much because taxi drivers often charge more for this trip. Try to have exact change. For other zones and more taxi information check here.
The taxi stand in on the north side by the exit close to Chedraui grocery store. At night and when a movie lets out there can be a long line of about 30 people waiting. It does move pretty fast though and there are more taxies that service this mall then Centro Maya. Note: Taxi stands do have the right to charge more per fare then the base fare, but this is often left to interpretation. Normally it is 5 pesos but can be a little more.
It really is not worth taking the bus here from the center. It is slow and not nearly as comfortable as a cheap taxi. If you did want to only spend a few pesos then you just look for the bus that has “Plaza Las Americas” written on the windshield. These busses will be going north on 30th Avenue.
Where is Plaza Las Americas Mall?
Centro Maya Mall in Playa Del Carmen
This is the smaller of the two malls in Playa Del Carmen. It used to be more empty but has been filling up with stores as Playa grows.
There are two things here that children might like here at the Centro Maya Mall. There is a small train that drives up and down the mall. It is best for small children up to about age 10. For kids a little older there is a game zone area with video games and attractions. This can keep them busy for a while. It is near the movie theater.
Cinemex Movie Theater at Centro Maya Mall
This theater is much like the other theater in Plaza Las Americas. The one difference is it does not allow you to pick your seats ahead of time. Movies can be in English here as well.
Stores at Centro Maya Mall
The large anchor stores are the Soriana grocery store, City Club (a membership store like Sam’s Club) and Telcel (cell phone store) and a Coppel store (a Mexican department store that has cheaper items and encourages people to do payment plans).
The small stores include, shoe stores, two pet stores, fabric store, banks, mini blind store, beauty salon, and some small clothing stores. We do like Quarry Store for youthful style clothes. It is affordable and decent clothes option. It is like a Pull & Bear type store which is in Paseo Del Carmen shopping plaza on the south end of 5th Avenue.
Another new store is Promoda. It is like an outlet store that has many brands and give you many options. The prices are not exactly outlet prices but you can have a nice range of options in one store.
Food Options
This is more limited then the other mall. There is Chinese food, Hot Baking Company, burrito place and a few other options. Across the road in front of the mall are some small taco restaurants that can be good as well.
Taxi or Bus to Centro Maya Mall?
A taxi from the center is 50 pesos. For other zones to this mall check out the taxi rate charts here. Public busses and colectivos are easy to catch on 30th Avenue going south. Just look for “Centro Maya” written on the windshield. It is faster and easier to take a bus to Centro Maya then to Plaza Las Americas because they are more direct.
If it is raining, expect a delay in getting a taxi back to the center of Playa. The taxi stand is in the parking lot of the Mall near the exit by the Telcel store. There are not as many taxis here at the taxi stand at Plaza Las Americas Mall.
Where is Cento Maya Mall?
For other shopping plazas you check out Paseo Del Carmen or Quinta Alegria links here. Both are in the center of Playa off of 5th Avenue. For smaller store be sure to check out our shopping section.
Note: If you are a tourist and making some larger purchases at qualified stores you can be eligible to get a tax break! There are details in this article.
Tip: If you are going to do some shopping in November you might want to wait until Buen Fin, a commercial shopping holiday with many discounts.

Beaches
The resort of Playa de las Americas has many different beaches spread all over the area. Playa de Troya is the busier of the beaches. Most of the time you won’t notice it much, but since this is close to the main party area of Veronicas, in the summer holidays when many people come to party here, this beach can get a bit loud and crowded in the afternoons.
The more relaxed and family-friendly beaches are the Playa del Camisón or Playa de las Vistas, closer to the Los Cristianos beach but like I said, when travelling outside of the main peak holiday times, all of them are pretty chill and relaxed.
Hotels
- Sir Anthony Hotel Tenerife for those who want an adults-oriented luxury close to the beach.
- HD Parque Cristobal for a family holiday.
- Parque Santiago 3 for a family holiday on a budget.
Nightlife
Playa de las Americas is one of the best-known party and clubbing areas in Tenerife, especially the Veronicas area, a large strip of many clubs and cocktail bars open until the early morning. However, while Playa de las Americas is a great place to go clubbing all year round, know that outside of school and university holidays, some clubs might not be open because there might be fewer people around during that time.
If you are not sure if Playa de las Americas is right for you, look at my where to stay in Tenerife guide covering all the different holiday destinations.
Restaurants and bars
In Playa de las Americas you will find one of the largest selections of restaurants and places to eat. Everything from traditional Spanish cuisine to a large variety of international, fusion and oriental cuisine. Do know that many of the establishments here can get pretty pricey, and do watch out for the upselling and adding extra things to your bill. One thing I did not like here was that many of the restaurants are very big, so sometimes the service might feel a little bit impersonal. If you want the more traditional smaller Spanish restaurant, look in the resort next door, Los Cristianos.
How to get to Playa de las Americas
Playa de las Americas is 18 km away from the Tenerife South Airport:
- Public transport: 4 euro
- Shuttle bus: 5 euro
- Taxi: 23.7 euro
Playa de las Americas is 81 km away from the Tenerife North Airport:
- Public transport: 12.4 euro
- Shuttle bus: Not available if you don’t have a packaged holiday
- Taxi: 95 euro
Here are some things you need to know about buses, shuttles and taxis at the Tenerife airports. There you can also find the companies I use when travelling in Tenerife.
If I had to describe Playa de las Americas in a few words, it would be 1/3 beaches, 1/3 shopping centres and 1/3 clubbing. That is the resort in a nutshell. I always thought Playa de las Americas was like Magaluf in Mallorca, but it is not; Playa de las Americas has become much more about class and brands in recent years.
That is also why you can find now many immense shopping centres spread out all over the resort. So when it comes to shopping, especially clothing, you can find an almost unlimited supply of stores here. However, if you want to shop at “lower Tenerife prices”, this is not the place for you. In that case, I would very much advise a shopping day out to Santa Cruz on the other side of the island.
Things to do near Playa de las Americas
The main attraction here in this area of Tenerife is the Siam Water Park. Each day free busses come round to pick up holidaymakers in the area.
Siam Park claims to be the best water park globally, but I am always somewhat sceptical of these types of claims. These claims to me are just the same as you will see in every resort 30 places with the “best mojito in tows” sign. However, after visiting, I can say it is the best water park of all the waterparks in Spain I have been to, and that is quite a few so far.
For a complete list of things to see and do in Tenerife, have a look here.

Centro Comercial Safari is the center of the “Golden Mile”!!!
For two
I love this island. .. We lived a stone’s throw from this shopping center… in the Best Tenerife hotel… This shopping complex is located in the very center of Las Americas… on the Golden miles”..it’s a big shopping street….here you can buy branded products….Burberry..Hugo Boss…Ralph Lauren..and others…There are handbag stores…There is also a Timberland brand store …very good!!! Also …there are democratic brands like Stradivarius…Besides.. if you need expensive watches (Ulis Nardin…Patek Fili….and others) …go here ..this is the store..Ideal …. See bargain and you will have a discount!!!! At that time, prices were 25-30% less than similar watches in Russia… In addition… there are several good wine and vodka shops where prices will pleasantly surprise you!!! In general, we recommend visiting it .. especially in the evening .. (shops are mostly open until 21-30 … ).. you can watch the show of singing fountains in the very center of this store … a very beautiful sight … I hope my review will help you and was very helpful!!!

Beautiful place.

This center is also known as the Golden Mile. Beautiful shop windows, on the first line – more expensive branded stores, deeper – more democratic. A large number of cafes and restaurants. In the center is a singing fountain. Nice place to take a walk in the evening!

I always try to choose a hotel or apartment nearby.
It’s not even that this is an exceptional place for shopping. This is the heart of Las Americas. Glitter, luxury and beauty, glamour!
It pulls here every evening. We understood this a long time ago. Back at 1998, when almost immediately behind the fountain there was a field of mowed lawn over which a balloon hung. We ran here almost from Troy beach, every evening, plunging into the atmosphere of pre-Christmas mood. We bought gifts for family and friends for the New Year and even on February 23 and March 8. They hid them from each other while packing their luggage.
And for the last 5 years we have been choosing hotels near Safari – Best Tenerife or Andorra. We are always a family in Tenerife and always during the autumn holidays at the beginning of November. Upon arrival, Halloween meets us, and Santa Claus sees us off. In Safari, this is especially noticeable. Three years ago, in one of the entrances, there were two wonderful deer, which have now disappeared somewhere.
I am not a fan of shops in Safari, but my girls enjoy them and enjoy them.
It’s almost a ritual when I sit down on a bench at the color music fountain located in the heart of the Safari Center and wait for the splashes of water to begin their dance to one of my favorite tunes from the 2001 Space Odyssey movie. In the fall of 2015, for some reason, I did not wait for this melody. Although it was always after 20:00.
What do my girls buy here?
– cosmetics, jewelry and footwear.
I buy jeans at Levi’s and brandy Carlos 1 for 23 euros in one of the liquor stores, the name of which I don’t remember for the life of me and probably don’t even know. Only in the duty free of the Reina Sofia airport, the same Carlos 1 is 5-10 euros more expensive.
Next to Safari on the street, there is a kiosk selling pearls. They speak Russian. Last year I bought my wife black pearl beads here, which at first aroused delight, but now they are lying around at home among a pile of such rubbish. But it was a delight!
Here you can not buy anything, but just walk and enjoy the air, people, the atmosphere of celebration and relaxation.
Compatriots in the evening can be distinguished by shales and beach shorts.

Pleasant shopping within walking distance
Family holidays
If you are on holiday in Playa de las Americas, this is the most convenient commercial center for you. It is located in the heart of Playa de las Americas on the Golden Mile, and from any corner of the city you can come here on foot.
Safari is the first in a complex of three commercial centers located along the Golden Mile, and in terms of shopping, it is very successful. Here you will find multi-brand clothing and jewelry stores, Nike, Punt Roma, Stradivarius, Timberland, Guess, Levi’s, shoe stores, perfumery and cosmetics. In addition, in the evening there is a performance at the singing fountain. It makes sense to visit two other commercial centers. So in the third Oasis commercial center there is Zara, where the range of goods and prices differ from Russian stores for the better. Significantly lower than in Russia, even taking into account the euro, prices in Pandora (it is located in the second commercial center, unfortunately I don’t remember its name). In addition, in all three commercial centers you will find shops for bags, perfumes, sunglasses, clothes. Perfumes, by the way, are cheaper than in duty free, and of good quality. The Oasis also has a Springfield. On the other side of the road, opposite Zara, is Esprit. Bershca is located next to Safari.
So that for several evenings you are guaranteed a pleasant shopping experience.
In addition, in all commercial centers there are cafes and restaurants for every taste.

Entertainment for all tastes
With friends
A whole complex of shops, restaurants, cafes, clubs. There is also a fairly good supermarket with a good selection of pastries and local wines. In the evenings, it is especially crowded here, there are many cars and music sounds from everywhere. The waterfront is very close – no more than five minutes on foot.

I really liked that there is free parking in front of the hotel, good animation, sensitive and reliable staff! The room is cozy and beautiful, the food in the restaurant is varied and delicious! The nearest good beach is about 1 km, go straight all the time, along the way the central shopping street of Playa Las Americas, on it is the pyramid of Arona, where a musical show takes place!

Guest rating
The staff spoke very little English. Noise until 2:30 at night. In the morning at six the equipment howls terribly. Each additionally necessary trifle (refrigerator, safe, etc.) for money. Wifi advertised but didn’t actually exist. Breakfast is mediocre. A wild problem with the elevator is a high-rise building and only one double elevator that the staff likes to occupy. We waited 25 minutes to get the baby carriage down.

The hotel justifies its 3 stars. It is located very close to the Las Vistas beach, to all shops, including Mercadona, by the way, not far from the hotel they built a new shopping center Santiago Park and an entertainment playground, it is very convenient to go shopping and walk the children. There are no Russian channels, even for a fee. . Kettle hairdryer and iron can be rented – the cost is 20 euros, returned by the county. Previously, the hotel brought a present from the hotel, champagne fruits and sweets, this time not. Cleaning every other day, so-so, towels are changed at least every day, the staff is very friendly. The pool is ice cold and not heated. We have already been to this hotel 3 times. Downstairs, immediately to the left of the hotel, they bake pizza for 1 euro, oooooooooochen delicious, kinds of tsat, a day off on Thursday. A good hotel for unassuming travelers. We liked everything. Good luck to all.
Scarcity of dishes, but maybe you can ask at the reception.

Convenient location of the hotel for those who travel on their own, convenient exit from the city, there were no problems with parking.
I’m not a bad traveler, but I count my money, rooms and furniture are dead. I won’t stop here for the second time.

Convenient location, helpful staff, reasonable price. Overall, good value for money.
May need minor renovations, rooms look very worn. The water heater (hidden in a cupboard in the kitchen) wasn’t working hard enough, even for one person.

Very friendly staff and excellent location.
It was difficult to connect to Wi-Fi, social networks from mobile devices were not loaded. Bed not too comfortable, kettle and toaster had to be borrowed from the kitchen.

Open left menu las americas. Playa de las Americas – the main resort of Tenerife Las americas in tenerife spain
Playa de las Americas is a popular tourist resort located on the southwest coast of the island of Tenerife. The resort was built in 1960s and stretches west of Costa Adeje. The sun almost all year round and many sandy beaches (sand was brought specially from Africa) attract thousands of tourists here. In addition, duty-free shops, restaurants with excellent seafood dishes, an aqua park and the prestigious resort of Los Cristianos in the neighborhood are at the service of vacationers.
Playa de las Americas is primarily known for its sandy beaches – there are six of them in the city, each offering plenty of opportunities for water sports, including jet skiing and scuba diving. The main beach has calm waters, great for families with children, while Playa de Guincho is a favorite spot for surfers and windsurfers. In addition, Playa de las Americas is considered the capital of parties in Tenerife: cocktails, clubs and karaoke are commonplace. There are also a couple of casinos here. Nightlife centers are located in the districts of Veronikas, Starko and Patch – sophisticated connoisseurs will find here modern nightclubs, cabarets, concert venues, etc.
Half an hour drive from Playa de las Americas is the territory of the Teide National Park with the volcano of the same name, one of the largest in the world, the main attraction of the island of Tenerife. You can climb to the top of the volcano (3718 m) along specially equipped trails or by cable car. In any case, the views from the top will not leave anyone indifferent!
The Arona Central Park, opened in 2004 and spread over an area of 42,000 square meters, is a must-visit with several squares, playgrounds and picnic areas. On its territory you can also see a collection of tropical and Canarian plants, including 40 species of palms, a dragon tree and several baobabs.
Also in Playa de las Americas you can find an excellent golf course (in the heart of the resort) or go on one of the many sea excursions – watch dolphins and whales, take a trip to a pirate ship or dive to the seabed in a yellow submarine.
Briefly about the main thing: past and present of the resort.
Where is Playa de las Americas?
Playa de las Americas is the main resort town of the island of Tenerife, which is part of the Canary archipelago. The tourist zone is formed in the southern part of the municipality of Arona and borders Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje. It is represented by modern sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast, restaurants, bars, water entertainment complexes. 75 km from Playa de las Americas is the capital of the island – Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 42 km – Las Cañadas with the Teide volcano.
The population of Playa de las Americas is just over 10,000 inhabitants. The national currency is Euro (EUR).
Playa de las Americas. Historical note
In the 1970s. the blooming north of Tenerife has ceased to cope with the influx of tourists. Unstable weather conditions with amplitude seasonal temperature fluctuations, high average annual precipitation and ocean waves “played” against him.
Southern, climatically favorable Playa de las Americas was founded on the site of fishing villages as a major recreational center by a group of Spanish and foreign investors and rebuilt from scratch in just a few decades. At 19In 78, Tenerife South Airport was inaugurated 20 km from it.
Today the resort Playa de las Americas occupies a coastal line 6 km long and offers all kinds of leisure activities on the water, in bars, restaurants, entertainment centers. In translation, its name means “beach of America.” Thus, the Spaniards emphasized the significance of the journey and discovery of Amerigo Vespucci.
Slightly pinkish glittering pavements, endless palm alleys and sandy beaches stretching beyond the horizon – this is what the Canary landscapes look like in the photo of Playa de las Americas. Photos of the streets of Playa de las Americas during the daytime convey the incredible relaxing atmosphere of the island town, and photos of Playa de las Americas at night reflect its dynamic character. Every traveler in a cozy resort area will find what he likes!
Detailed photos of the city of Playa de las Americas, photos of Playa de las Americas at night are selected from the best photo reports of travelers and photo calls of famous journalists.

What is the climate like in Playa de las Americas?
Canarians say that in Playa de las Americas it is always spring. Indeed, the peculiarities of the location of the city in the south of Tenerife behind a chain of mountains that hold back the cold northeast trade winds determine the warm tropical type of climate with minimal rainfall. The air temperature in Playa de las Americas during the year ranges from +21 to +30°C.
Here you can swim and sunbathe all year round. The unique climate of Playa de las Americas also determines the diversity of nature. The landscape of the area is represented by semi-deserts with picturesque cacti, areas of subtropical vegetation and verdant valleys.
Flora and fauna of Playa de las Americas

The aquatic wildlife of Playa de las Americas also favors travelers: moderately warm ocean water is a habitat for colored fish and friendly octopuses. Sharks don’t come close to the shore.
The pastoral scenery is complemented by the pretty vegetation of Playa de las Americas. In the southern part of Tenerife, succulents, prickly pear cacti, Canary spurge, and emerald date palms are the most common. Endless brick-green landscapes are more convenient to view from a bird’s eye view.

Atlantic Ocean water temperature
We will tell you when is the best time to go to Playa de las Americas to catch the gentlest sea.
An even and mild climate is the main value of Playa de las Americas. The temperature of the water in the Atlantic Ocean, even in the winter months, here “passes” over the mark of + 20 ° С, and in summer it reaches + 23–24 ° С. Such a temperature of the Atlantic Ocean in the protected resort area of the south of Tenerife allows you to swim here all year round, only from time to time resorting to the services of pools with heated water.
The tides in Playa de las Americas are very pronounced – this should be remembered when planning a holiday. The difference in sea level in summer reaches one meter. The tides of the Atlantic Ocean do not create the illusion of complete withdrawal of water, but complicate the passage of surfers in the evening, allow you to see the boulder relief near the breakwaters, which is not visible in the daytime.
Playa de las Americas is reliably protected from waves by a special system. This made it possible to turn the beaches of Playa del Duque and Playa de Torviscas into quiet, cozy oases. At the same time, due to the design features of the breakwaters in some parts of the beach strip, the waves of the Atlantic Ocean reach the shore, creating ideal conditions for surfers to relax. Most of them are in the autumn and winter months on the beaches of Playa Honda and Playa de Troya.
There is no rainy season in Playa de las Americas as such. The maximum precipitation is observed in November-December (up to 5-9 rainy days per month, respectively). When the “rainy season” begins in Playa de las Americas, there is an opportunity to have a great time in one of the entertainment centers or go shopping – at this time, outlets announce the season of discounts.

everyone who wants to. The beaches of the southern part of Tenerife are partially covered with natural gray sand, but for some of them white or yellow sand was specially imported. In this article we will tell you what beaches are in the south of Tenerife, what they are and where they are.
Costa Adeje Beaches
Playa del Duque
(Playa del Duque)
Among blue flag beaches
Playa del Duque occupies a special place. In my opinion, this is the best beach in the south, and of the entire island. Del Duque, like other beaches in, was covered with white sand for several years, which was raised from the bottom of the ocean, and also brought from Africa, and now it has a yellowish-gray tint almost along its entire length. Only in the northern part there are places that have partially preserved volcanic sand
black color.
Emerald, crystal-clear coastal waters, nearby luxury hotels and expensive shops, good infrastructure combined with comfort and tranquility attract many wealthy tourists here. At the same time, the locals are also very fond of this beach.
Beach services include the rental of sun loungers and umbrellas, as well as showers, changing rooms, toilets and rubbish bins. There are many cafes, restaurants and beach bars along the promenade. The beach itself is quite large – 390 meters long and 60 wide. Here, as in the whole south, Negroes are constantly wandering around selling Chinese glasses, watches and handbags with shells.
Playa Fanabe and Playa Torvisca with
(Playa Fanabe / Playa Torvisca s)
The largest beach, almost a kilometer long and 60 m wide, is Fanabe / Torvisca s. The name is through a slash because, in fact, these are two parts of the same beach. One of the parts – Fanabe – smoothly passes into another part – Torviscas. This gray sand beach in Costa Adeje
considered the most crowded and suitable for all ages.
There are many middle class hotels, restaurants and shops near the beach. There are any water activities, children’s slides, a wide variety of cafes, bars and restaurants, as well as souvenir shops and beach accessories. Entrance to the toilet is paid – 50 cents, rental of umbrellas and sunbeds is provided. There is a free outdoor shower on the beach, as well as a paid indoor shower (1.20 euros).
Playas de Troya
(Playas de Troya)
Playas de Troya is the common name for two absolutely identical beaches in terms of area and shape: Troy I and Troy II. These gray sand beaches are considered quite a noisy place due to the proximity to various establishments and the attention of young people who are used to having fun in these establishments. There are breakwaters near the beach, but they do not save from the waves at all, so lovers of calm water will not be very comfortable here. And for those who, on the contrary, love waves, it will be just right.
The beaches are about 500 m long and 30 m wide on average. Near the beach there are shops, beach clubs, bars, cafes and restaurants, as well as shopping centers of various sizes. It offers vacationers – rental of sun loungers and umbrellas, a paid indoor shower (2. 20 euros) and a toilet.
There are a few more beaches: Playa la Pinta
(Playa la Pinta) next to the port of Puerto Colon (Puerto Colon) and Playa del Bobo (Playa del Bobo). I will not paint in detail, these are small beaches in the neighborhood of those listed above with a standard set of services.
Las Americas beaches
Playa Honda
(Playa Honda)
Playa Honda is suitable only for sunbathing. It has a length of about 200 meters and a width of 30. The coast is almost without sand, one pebble and constant waves. The beach is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas, however, it is not very favored by those accustomed to snow-white
comfortable beaches for tourists. Due to the presence of waves, it attracts more surfers than swimmers. They charge 6 euros for renting a sunbed and an umbrella, but there is a surf school with all the equipment right on the beach.
Playa del Camison
(Playa del Camison)
Camison Beach is fenced with a special structure so that the water does not wash away the golden sand, which was brought directly from the Sahara desert to artificially cover the coast. On both sides there are dams that hold back the waves, which makes it very attractive for families with children. The pedestrian promenade is beautifully planted with palm trees and beach lovers in Tenerife
very nice to relax in this quiet place with clear water. Right on the beach there is a bar, a restaurant and several kiosks where you can eat. Among the services: rental of sunbeds and umbrellas, jet skis and other water modes of transport, there are toilets and showers. The size of the beach is 350 meters long and 40 wide.
The beaches of Los Cristianos
Playa Las Vistas
(Playa Las Vistas)
Visiting this spacious and beautiful place will please you with a special spectacle – a fountain located in the middle of a small artificial island and powered by sea water. Playa Las Vistas is quite large in size – it has a length of 850 meters in length, 80 in width, and is covered with light golden sand. The transparency of clean and warm water, the absence of wind due to an artificially created cozy bay, thoughtful amenities attract tourists of all ages, including families, and the opportunity to engage in active water sports attracts many young people.
There are several bars and restaurants around the beach. Vacationers have access to jet skis, catamarans, rental of umbrellas and sun loungers. The beach has a foot wash, toilets, bins and showers. There are even lockers for 1 euro. Parking near the beach has 100 spaces.
Playa Los Cristianos
(Playa Los Cristianos)
Playa Los Cristianos is 345 meters long and over 80 meters wide. The coast is covered with a mixture of white and black volcanic sand.
. Middle-aged and older tourists like to sunbathe here, rather than swim, considering the water is not clean enough, since the beach is located directly in the port and it is difficult to classify it as one of the best beaches
Tenerife. Young people on this beach will be quite bored, because there is no special entertainment for them here, except for a few bars and restaurants. There is a rental of sun loungers and umbrellas (6 euros for both), showers and trash cans. There are lifeguards on the beach.
As you can see, here the beaches are much better equipped, have more entertainment and are suitable for both young people and families with children or older tourists. A big plus is the fact that you can get to any of the beaches pretty quickly in whatever part of the resorts you are relaxing.

In search of natural attractions that abound in Tenerife, take a guided tour or drive to places such as the Teide Volcano National Park, the Guimar Pyramids, the Hell’s Gorge, the cliffs de Garcia, the Botanical Garden of Puerto de la Cruz . The coast will also delight with picturesque views, where white beaches give way to volcanic sand beaches, and open spaces turn into secluded bays. You can read more about the beauties of the island at
.
The beaches of Playa de las Americas are united in a single area with the beaches of the resorts of Costa Adeje and Los Cristianos. In total, these are 8 km of the cleanest beaches made of volcanic sand (yes, you can’t find golden sand in Tenerife, the island was formed as a result of volcanic activity). All Tenerife beaches, including the resort area of Playa de las Americas, are free, only additional services, such as the use of umbrellas or sunbeds, can be provided for a fee.
The advantage of the beaches of Playa de las Americas is their location – on the south leeward side. Clouds with precipitation and wind do not pass through the mountain ranges located in the center of the island, so in the south of Tenerife it is always warm and there are almost no ocean waves. By the way, special breakwaters are additionally installed in the resort to prevent waves. Lifeguards are on duty on the beaches of Playa de las Americas, there are showers, toilets, open-air bars, and fish restaurants. It is worth noting that the beaches of Playa de las Americas are almost always crowded, because. the resort is very popular, especially among families with children, because. the entrance to the water here is gentle, and the coast warms up rather quickly. For waves and surfing, it is better to go to the north of Tenerife.
All in all, Playa de las Americas has all the trappings of a first-class beach holiday, including well-developed infrastructure, plenty of entertainment and an excellent year-round climate. Restaurants, discos, bars – all this can be found in abundance in the resort, which makes it seem a little noisy and party-like, but at the same time, on Playa de las Americas, you can always find a modicum of privacy in hotels specially created for this.
