Let us welcome you to our luxury boat named Big Smile with friendly crew for a 3-hour session of one of the best experiences you can have in Tenerife. You are about to explore one of the most beautiful sites of Tenerife and its incredible marine life.
The tour starts at Puerto Colón. Once you embark, you realize that the friendly crew honors the name of this vessel. As a reception drink, you get a glass of Cava, a delicious and traditional Spanish sparkling wine.
When you are accommodated on the boat, your captain heads towards Diego Hernández beach, also known as Hippie Beach, which is only accessible by boat or by foot. On the way, our captain will search for whales and dolphins so you have the chance to get personal with the local wild marine life. You also can see the astonishing landscape of Tenerife. Breathtaking panoramic views and turquoise waters are all around you.
Once your captain anchors the sailboat, you can go for a snorkeling or swimming to explore a little bit more the local sea life. You can also relax on the sand while the crew prepares your lunch.
On the way back, you still have time to appreciate the beauties of Tenerife coast one more time while treating yourself with delicious desserts.

Important Things to Know about Whale Watching in Tenerife
If you’ve never been on one of our whale watching tours, Tenerife is going to be full of wonders for you. But even though this holiday experience will be full of awe-inspiring sights – there are a few key points you need to keep in mind:
This particular Tenerife dolphin and whale watching trip is meant to be a budget excursion. Our primary focus is to head out into the waters and see these stunning animals. For this reason – we’ll offer simple beverages and snacks to keep your spirits and energy up. However, our gastronomic selection is limited and won’t offer a full restaurant-style experience. If you have any special requirements for food or drink – feel free to bring them along with you.
This trip offers a more private atmosphere compared to larger catamaran excursions. We’ll take up to 11 people onboard – making this great for anyone looking for a more personal experience.
If you believe you are prone to seasickness – please take any appropriate medicine 1 hour before boarding. This will help prevent nausea and make sure you are able to enjoy swimming with pilot whales. Tenerife offers plenty of seaside experiences – so make sure you’re prepared!
We always suggest bringing your own large beach towels, especially if you’d like to tan on the boat and comfortably dry off after swimming.
Be sure to book your whale watching Tenerife trip as far in advance as possible. As this is a popular excursion and only 11 people are able to board – tickets sell out fast.
Please be sure to arrive on time for boarding so as to not cause any delays or cancellations.
The captain of the Arriro speaks English and Spanish, but if you are still welcome to participate in the dolphin and whale boat trip (Tenerife) regardless of any language barriers.

We base the humidity comfort level on the dew point, as it determines whether perspiration will evaporate from the skin, thereby cooling the body. Lower dew points feel drier and higher dew points feel more humid. Unlike temperature, which typically varies significantly between night and day, dew point tends to change more slowly, so while the temperature may drop at night, a muggy day is typically followed by a muggy night.
The chance that a given day will be muggy at Fuerteventura Airport is very rapidly decreasing during November, falling from 32% to 5% over the course of the month.
For reference, on August 31, the muggiest day of the year, there are muggy conditions 71% of the time, while on January 13, the least muggy day of the year, there are muggy conditions 1% of the time.

This report illustrates the typical weather at Fuerteventura Airport, based on a statistical analysis of historical hourly weather reports and model reconstructions from January 1, 1980 to December 31, 2016.
Temperature and Dew Point
Fuerteventura Airport has a weather station that reported reliably enough during the analysis period that we have included it in our network. When available, historical temperature and dew point measurements are taken directly from this weather station. These records are obtained from NOAA’s Integrated Surface Hourly data set, falling back on ICAO METAR records as required.
In the case of missing or erroneous measurements from this station, we fall back on records from nearby stations, adjusted according to typical seasonal and diurnal intra-station differences. For a given day of the year and hour of the day, the fallback station is selected to minimize the prediction error over the years for which there are measurements for both stations.
The stations on which we may fall back are Lanzarote Airport and Hassan I Airport.
Other Data
All data relating to the Sun’s position (e.g., sunrise and sunset) are computed using astronomical formulas from the book, Astronomical Algorithms 2nd Edition , by Jean Meeus.
All other weather data, including cloud cover, precipitation, wind speed and direction, and solar flux, come from NASA’s MERRA-2 Modern-Era Retrospective Analysis . Siam Park – The Best Water Park For Some Splash Filled Acitivies In The Sun
You are here: Home / Places to Visit / Siam Park
– By Michelle Minnaar This post may contain affiliate links.
Siam Park, one of the world’s best water parks, is ideal for workaholics. Let me tell you why.
You finally tore yourself away from the computer. Electronics and water don’t quite gel, so you have no choice but to leave your phone and watch behind as well. For once you get to live in the moment and leave all your worries of past and present behind. Where do you start at a water park? From the left? At the back? Do you take the map and treat it as one big to-do list to be ticked off one by one? If you’re like me and not an adrenalin junkie, you’ll find the shrieks you hear left, right and center a bit intimidating. You spot the Mai Thai River, which looks peaceful and inviting. Grab a float, get on and relax…
At times it’s so peaceful that you almost fall asleep. It’s great just slowly drifting round and round on the river, which is such a pointless exercise and slowly your nerves calm down and quite frankly you simply don’t give a toss about anything anymore. Tenerife’s glorious sun bakes you from the top while the cold water acts as a coolant keeping your bum cold, leaving your body in balance. Sort of. People attempt to hurry past you, splashing with their arms, pushing with their feet. When will they realise there’s no hurry? Sooner or later you will float forward, it’s only a matter of time. So why rush? Sometimes the river bubbles. Sometimes it flows quickly. Sometimes the waterfall soaks you from the top. Sometimes it gets so busy that your float get stuck along with others and before you know it yours capsizes and you’re head under water waking up from what feels like a delightful dream.
Welcome to Siam Park where there are loads of visitors and the queues are as long as hell! If you can, try to avoid peak season such as summer holidays in July and August. If you can’t, take a tip from the Germans and try to get there early before opening time to avoid waiting a terribly long time at the entrance.
It’s easy to understand why this water park has been rated best in the world. The place is spotless and you’ll frequently come across staff cleaning the pathways. The designer’s eye for details was superb. Unlike a lot of water parks this place has less of a cookie-cutter feel to it and is made to feel like a tropical jungle. You can’t event see what the actual rides are like because they’re all hidden in flora. Can you spot the dragon?
Siam Park and Loro Parque are part of the same company and animals have been incorporated at the water park. After buying a ticket the first sight you’ll come across is Sea Lion Island where the animals are swimming lazily in pristine water. Further up, there are Koi ponds at the Floating Market. Somewhere along the squiggly maze of paths there are also vicious toothed sharks that shouldn’t be messed with. Wet shoes are available to those who are afraid of getting their feet hurt and some of the proceeds of the souvenir shops go to the Loro Parque Foundation.
Lockers are for rent, as well as private cabins (!) for the day. Showers and changing rooms are available on site.
Thrill seekers will be chuffed with some scary rides while other simply watch in awe. So you fancy dropping 78m at 80km per hour down a chute? Check out the Tower of Power. Also pictured is the Naga Racer, which appeals to more people – a ride where you lie head first on your front.
For little adrenalin-junkies in the making, there’s a Lost City that will keep them amused for hours.
In the early 90’s Sun City, in South Africa, opened its water park and for an 11-year old the concept of there being a “sea with waves” in the middle of the country was simply mind blowing. With ease, Siam Beach blows the former out of the water, all puns intended. The brilliantly blue water, with fine sand imported from Portugal together with waves minus the sharks makes this the perfect beach experience.
All across Siam Park you’ll come find life guards which sends the reassuring message that everyone’s safety is at the forefront of the resort’s mind.
Everyone will find something to eat here. There are three snack-bars and two restaurants on site. For those who are terrified of the new, safe international choices are available at The Beach Club such as ribs, roast chicken, pasta and even fresh fruit and vegetables.
Since everyone is prancing around in beach wear, The Thai House isn’t a fine dining establishment and you won’t be greeted by bowing Thai staff at the door and struck by wafts of insence.
Instead The Thai House follows the same format as its western counterpart and offer a buffer-style spread. Prices are very affordable but don’t let the ecologically-friendly packaging put you off, after all, over a thousand people get served here daily so efficiency is a must. Surprisingly, all food is produced fresh on site every day. Everything – from the chicken wings to the fruit salad. This is no small feat. Ingredients are sourced locally and even something as mundane as the green salad contains top quality ingredients provided by the same seller that caters to other high-end restaurants on the island.
Great care has been taken to ensure the authenticity of classic Thai dishes such as Chicken Satay and Pad Thai. Personally, I’m not a fan of mass produced food but admittedly the Yellow Chicken Curry tasted just as good as what I’ve had in posh restaurants in London. Tenerife boasts a wide variety of fruit grown year round and finishing the big meal with a perfectly ripe Tropical Fruit Salad was a treat.
With the consistently glorious weather, the thrill of the rides, its cleanliness and great care put into the food, it’s no wonder why Siam park is regarded highly by TripAdvisor reviewers. One thing is certain, it’s the perfect family day out for making happy memories.

RAMAYANA WATER PARK ATTRACTIONS
Aqualoop – a sharp acceleration at the start and you fly at great speed, making a 360-degree loop due to gravity.
Freefall – straight downhill and you almost fall, but then you land softly on the waterway in a huge splash of water.
Duiling Aqua-Coasters is the longest ride in the world. Almost half a kilometer of dizzying ups and downs on a double tube. There are two completely identical tracks nearby, which allows you to have fun exciting races with friends.
Python & Aquaconda – attractions with an amazing interweaving of huge diameter tunnels. You are guaranteed thrills while rafting on a 4-seater inflatable raft in a closed 6-meter tunnel. Fantastic combinations of turns, spirals, ups and downs!
Boomerango is one of the most “emotional” attractions. You have to conquer an almost vertical wall, after which gravity will throw you into the pool. Do not scare the people around with loud screams!
The Mat Racer is a competitive attraction for the fastest descent on a mattress. Vertical sliding down, almost in free fall, will bring a lot of stormy impressions.
Spiral – descent on a tube through a spiral tunnel, most of which is closed. It is replete with many sharp turns with rapid accelerations and ends with a soft landing in the pool at the end.
Serpentine – an amazing slide on a tube, in a partially closed tunnel, under the pressure of a powerful stream of water with countless turns.
River – Tubing down a chute into a “lazy river” that will gently carry you through waves, bubbling geysers and mysterious caves with waterfalls.
Double Wave Pool – double wave pool with a beach length of 150 meters. Ride the waves and feel the energy of the sea storm.
Lazy Wavy River is the largest attraction in terms of size. The “lazy river” smoothly carries its waters for 500 meters. Embark on an exciting journey on an inflatable circle (tube) through the ruins of the ancient city and caves, or just relax under the sun.
Relax Pool (Relaxation Jacuzzi Pool) – places of rest and relaxation in gentle air bubbles in the pool. The highlight of this place is the water bar, which is located right in the pool. Here guests of the water park are offered a variety of cocktails and soft drinks.
Activity Pool is a pool specially designed for active sports (water volleyball, aqua aerobics, etc.). Work out for yourself or watch while relaxing in the jacuzzi bubbles at the sides.
Children’s entertainment at Ramayana
At the Ramayana water park, every child will find something interesting for himself, while being under the close supervision of specially trained personnel. Aquaplay is a superbly equipped entertainment area for children from 3 to 14 years old. Slides, water cannons, various structures with ladders and numerous fountains are waiting for your children. All these activities can keep your child busy for the whole day. For the little ones, Kid’s Aquasplash is prepared, specially designed for the Ramayana Water Park. The unique soft coating in the area of the fountains, as well as a multi-level splashing area, create additional safety for babies when they get acquainted with water and water splashes. Parents can be confident in the safety of their children.
30 km from Pattaya is the magical town of Ramayana Water Park – Ramayana Water Park. Here you will find a wide variety of entertainment from water slides to a floating market. Also on the territory there are tennis courts and a national restaurant with Asian cuisine. So do not dig for a long time and go ahead, have fun to the fullest! Don’t worry about how to get to the Ramayana Water Park, because the ticket price already includes a transfer.
Pattaya Ramayana Water Park – attractions for adults:
Aqualoop. Here, thanks to the acceleration at the start, you will fly at great speed, as if in a racing car along the Formula 1 track, and the laws of physics will allow you to make a complete flip, that is, a 360-degree loop! freefall. You will overcome a straight and sharp descent down, you can say freely falling! By creating huge splashes of water, you gently land on a special water track. But despite the extreme nature of these rides, they are completely safe!
Duiling Aqua Coasters. It is the largest water attractions in the world in terms of length. They overcome over 400 meters of extreme takeoffs, turns, falls on a double bun (or tube). There are two such attractions with the same trajectory of descent, and this makes it possible to organize competitions between friends – who will go down this longest water track in the world faster!
Python & Aquaconda. There are simply huge tunnels here, which in an amazing way “weave” one into another. The descent is carried out on a 4-seater inflatable raft and you are swallowed by a 6-meter tunnel! The raft will oscillate to the right and to the left, this will only add to the thrill. Loops, turns, ups and downs guarantee an impressive descent! About other attractions of the water park Ramayana
Boomerango. On this attraction you will jump on an almost vertical wall, after which the force of gravity will throw you into a small pool!
The Mat Racer. Attraction for those who want to test their strength and compete with friends for the fastest descent while lying on a mattress. The rapid decline in almost free fall guarantees a sea of unforgettable experiences!
Spiral. Descent on a bun through a spiral tunnel, which is mostly closed. Here you will find many unexpected turns, breathtaking accelerations, which are replaced by a soft landing in the pool.
Serpentine. Sliding down on a bun along a partially closed tunnel accelerated by powerful water currents. You will find a huge number of turns, after which you will be thrown into the pool at the end of the path.
River. Descent on a bun down the gutter and after that you find yourself in a “lazy river”, which invites you to an exciting swim through the waves, bubbles from geysers, mystical caves and waterfalls.
Children’s attractions
Ramayana Water Park is family friendly. Most of the attractions are designed for adults, but there are also special places for children.
There are two special children’s areas, they include:
small slides
simple designs for children’s play
children’s pools
fountains
water guns
mini-cars for driving
The park has an attraction designed even for 6-month-old babies:
elephants
figures
artificial caves with rock paintings,
lazy river and other places.
Children slides
Aquallop
Freefall
Your safety
Safety in Ramayana Water Park comes first. Three professional lifeguards are on duty near each attraction, ready to help at any moment. Therefore, you can safely ride all the slides, even if you do not know how to swim, because your safety is in good hands.
Additional features:
Luggage storage rental will cost you only 120 baht for the entire time of visiting the water park.
Pavilions “Kabana” For an additional fee in the water park it is offered to rent a pavilion where you can retire by closing the doors and curtaining the windows with curtains. Pavilions are served by waiters: if desired, lunch and drinks will be served here.
In addition to the already mentioned mechanical lift for inflatable rafts, the park has a system electronic bracelets .

The climate of Las Palmas (Canary
Islands / Spain)
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is the capital of Gran Canaria and is
located on the most northern tip of the island. Together with Santa
Cruz which is located on Tenerife Las Palmas forms the capital of the
autonomous region of the Canary Islands. Las Palmas offers a mixture
of living, working and tourism. Las Palmas port is an important
container port used for import on Gran Canaria. The port is also used
as a transition port for shipments to the African continent and South
America. Because of constantly stable temperatures Las Palmas is very
popular as a winter sun destination. This is because Las Palmas has a
micro climate. summers are very dry. However, because of an ever
blowing trade wind summers are very pleasant. Because the beaches of
Las Palmas are situated on the leeward side in the northwestern part
of the island the trade winds have little influence here.

Northern California storm: All eyes on Monterey
SAN FRANCISCO —
More storms were expected to hit Northern California and the rest of the state Friday, bringing fears of flooding, mudslides and power outages in communities already battered by a series of atmospheric rivers.
All eyes will be on Monterey County as officials warn that flooding could cut off the Monterey Peninsula from the rest of the state and shut down major roadways, including Highways 1 and 68.
With more storms on the way, the Salinas River region is forecast to receive 1 to 1.5 inches of rain Friday and up to 2 more inches over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
That could swell the river to one of the highest peak flood levels in its history.
The river is expected to reach flood stage, which is 23 feet, at the town of Spreckels at 10 p.m. Thursday and peak Friday, according to the California Nevada River Forecast Center. Officials are preparing for the river to be in continued flood stage through Sunday.
Many low-lying areas along the Salinas River valley in Monterey County, from the coast to Jolan Road, were under evacuation orders or warnings “until further notice.” Flooding could sever access between the Monterey Peninsula and areas north of it, including Salinas, the county’s most populous city, Santa Cruz County and the rest of the San Francisco Bay Area.
“Residents both on the peninsula and in the Salinas area should expect to be cut off for two to three days,” Monterey County officials said in a Wednesday statement.
Highway 68, River Road, Reservation Road, Blanco Road and other secondary roads are expected to be affected by flooding, and potentially Highway 1, officials said. Motorists have been advised not to attempt to cross roads when they see road closure signs.
Law enforcement officers have gone door to door to let residents know about the likely flooding, Monterey County Sheriff Tina Nieto said at a Thursday news conference.
The communities of Spreckels, Chualar and Las Palmas Ranch 1 and Las Palmas Ranch II could be cut off from central services due to flooding, Nieto said. If Highways 1 and 68 are blocked by floodwater, peninsula residents in Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea and Pacific Grove also won’t be able to leave the area.
“This is a slow-moving event,” she noted. “The river crests at different times. ” Not all areas will be affected at once, she said.
At a Wednesday news conference, Nieto urged residents and businesses to prepare “for what could be the ‘Monterey Peninsula Island,’ as we call it.” She recalled the March 1995 floods, which resulted in the Salinas River cresting at a historic high of 30.29 feet, leaving the peninsula “an island and people were stuck on either one side or the other.”
If the Salinas River crests above 24 feet, low-lying agricultural land along the river will experience “significant flooding,” according to the National Weather Service. At 26 feet, lower areas of Spreckels, Soledad, Gonzales, Chualar and Spence could be flooded. At least 20,000 acres of farmland in the Salinas Valley are at risk of flooding; levees along the lower Salinas River also could be breached.
Dimas Lopez, manager of Sea Harvest Restaurant & Fish Market in Pacific Grove, said his restaurant had been stockpiling seafood and other products in anticipation of the flooding.
Lopez said his main supplier wouldn’t be delivering anything this weekend because of the weather. Amid his stockpiled seafood supplies, he’s mostly worried that the power could go out.
“I prepared ourselves pretty good,” he said. But “if we lose power, it’s going to be a problem.”
In nearby Monterey, resident Jeremy Sousa said he’d lost power four times at his apartment since New Year’s Eve — once for 19 hours. He’s worried the next storms could again leave him in the dark, and possibly stranded on the peninsula.
Sousa said he feared that “if one of the upcoming storms knocks out power while road access is cut off, it might be impossible for electrical crews to get here to restore power.” Right now, he said he was focused on stocking up on nonperishable food and keeping his phone charged.
Pacific Gas & Electric Co. officials said Thursday that the upcoming storms would produce “some elevated outages” but didn’t immediately respond to specific questions about where or how it was planning to deal with potential access issues in Monterey. The company said only that it was “well-positioned” for the upcoming weather.
Spots in the county’s evacuation shelters were still available Thursday afternoon, and many hotels along the peninsula were offering discounted rates for evacuees. More information can be found on the county’s 2023 winter storm website.
Throughout California on Thursday, cleanup and damage assessment continued after a series of deadly storms.
The death toll from the sudden and powerful storms rose Wednesday after Sonoma County sheriff’s officials announced a person had been found dead in a car submerged in 8 to 10 feet of water. The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office also confirmed Wednesday that a 33-year-old man was found dead in the American River on Jan. 3, bringing the total of confirmed storm-related fatalities to 19.
A 5-year-old boy who was swept away by floodwaters in San Luis Obispo County on Monday was still missing Wednesday night as more than 100 members of the California National Guard joined the search effort.
Widespread flooding also forced the evacuation of Planada, a community of about 4,000 people just east of Merced. Though water levels have started to recede, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday morning that it was “unsafe to go back into flooded areas” and the evacuation order was still in place.
County Supervisor Rodrigo Espinosa said more than half the town, which is home to many farmworkers, was flooded. Officials were hoping to marshal government and nonprofit resources to get aid to people, he added, and were also working furiously to shore up the sewage plant in Planada so it didn’t send raw sewage into the already decimated community.
“It’s very sad,” he said. “We’re just trying to get help to residents.”
Santa Cruz County Supervisor Zach Friend characterized recent storms as “a once-in-a-generational challenging event” that had affected the whole county. Towns such as Capitola, Santa Cruz and Soquel were all hard hit.
“We know this is going to be a long rebuild. We know we’re going to need a lot of resources,” he said during a news conference Tuesday. “But what we also need is a sense of resilience from all of us to be able to rebuild this area — because we’ve seen the tears, we’ve seen the anger, but we’re moving into a resilience phase where we’re just trying to rebuild, bring that hope back.”

Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and occupies a central position in the archipelago. The island has a volcanic nature, which explains the beauty of the landscape – mountains and rocks that go into the water, covered with vegetation or exposing their stone reliefs, as well as views from their slopes. There are two airports on the island – in the northern and southern parts of the island.
Tenerife North
Located in the northern part of the island, the airport can accommodate any type of private aircraft. Business jet passengers are serviced in the passenger terminal using the fast track system; there is no separate VIP terminal at the airport. The airport does not operate at night.
Tenerife Sur
The airport is located in the southern part of the island and is most often used for arrivals in Tenerife. The length of the runway allows you to take all types of business jets. To serve passengers of private jets, the airport has a special VIP zone with a border control zone.

Tenerife is one of the most famous islands of the Canary archipelago. The mild climate of Tenerife is created by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The tourist season here lasts all year round; even in winter, the air temperature rarely drops below 20 degrees, although it should be noted that it is the period from May to October that will offer the most favorable conditions for relaxation.
Tenerife often has colorful festivals in the summer.
To travel to Tenerife, a resident of Russia will need a visa, since the Canary Islands, which include Tenerife, belong to Spain, an EU country. As a member of the European Union, Spain requires a visa when entering its territory, which is issued in advance at the consulate of the country.
Tenerife’s main currency is the euro. You can exchange money upon arrival; rubles can be exchanged for euros in Russia.

Costa Teguise Golf Club
The golf course was designed in 1978 by the famous British architect Commander John Harris. It enjoys easy access to hotels and restaurants as well as the beach, ocean and local cultural attractions and is only a 20-minute drive from the modern Arrecife International Airport and only 10 minutes from the island’s capital Arrecife.
Unusually, there are no developments around the course, so you can fully enjoy the views of the ocean and volcanoes at almost every hole. The greens and fairways are surrounded by local plants and trees, such as the beautiful Canary Island Date palm, which lends this all-year course a tropical air.
It is a par-72 course which stretches to around 6,700 yards at its longest, which, while not overly long by modern standards, features numerous doglegs which brings all of the golfer’s clubs into play. The “picon” (volcanic sand) and the wind add an extra challenge to the pleasure of playing each hole.
The course also benefits from an excellent clubhouse with a pro-shop, restaurant and coffee bar. A full range of equipment is available for hire from half and full sets of clubs through to golf buggies.

The golf course was not really well maintenance. It is a long course and very challenging, it let down by too much volcanic rock rough and traps which’ll destroy your clubs ( I rent then and they have an iron only for those areas), do not bring your clubs. Even the bunkers are coarse. Not a good holiday experience although clubhouse is well appointed.

Overall experience was really good, got multiple weather seasons in one round of golf which made the course play slightly more difficult especially into wind holes. Booked through TeeTimes.PT and Maria was very helpful in booking my tee time and making sure I had all the correct details. Only thing that I was slightly unhappy about was that I thought I had already paid for the buggy with teetimes however, the course has advised there was no buggy paid for and I had to pay for one there otherwise my pregnant partner would not have been able to come round with me. Despite this I still had a nice time and played not too badly either. Course is in need of some TLC as a lot of the tee boxes are overgrown and some of the fairways are slightly longer. Would return in the future.
Tee Times reply: Thanks Ryan for your comment, that will help other golfers to better evaluate and decide on their experience. Regarding the buggy, we expressly declare in the shopping cart that the buggy in this particular golf course is extra to the green fee.

FrIendly, uncrowrded when we were there (tee off at 9 during school holiday period) Tough greens – great condition but very fast – and a challenging course, but playable even for me off 22. Great views. Would be good if they had more than sandwiches for lunch.

God love this place. No water on the course! I mean like lakes, rivers and the like. But also no drinking water, either, but in November not much of an issue. One bottle will do you.
Very scenic course, if you like sea views, home construction, and lava fields. And volcanoes, of course. Fortunately, none active. Navigable course, fair but long, and if you like windy courses, this is the one for you.
Rental clubs were a bit shabby, but blaming them for poor play isn’t fair. I’ve seen newer golf carts (buggies to the locals) in Cuba. Managed to play the course losing but a single ball, with others replaced by the ones found of equal or greater value.
Best to catch this course on a Tuesday or Friday when the local English speakers play their competitions. Get lucky and pair up with Scott, who bought me 2 beers after the round. Scott originally from Scottland. Best of all, he owns a bar down the road a piece. Excellent weather, except for 30 mph (50 kph) winds.
Nice ladies at the pro shop even called a cab for me to get back to the port. Showed up within 3 minutes and raced like a rally driver to the ship like he was getting a tip for getting there faster.

What is golf | Russian Golf Association
Before choosing clubs, decide what you will practice: pitch-and-putt or golf? When we’re just getting started
play, the final result does not depend on the quality and price of clubs. The rules allow you to have in your bag (if you want – in
bag)
no more than 14 clubs. In the beginning, you will need a half set. For golf: sand-wedge, pitch, irons 9, 7, 5, 3, pater,
woods 1 and 3.
And a good stick to pull the balls out of the water… The rest of the numbers may be needed not earlier than in a year, or even
two.
For pitch-and-putt, an even shorter series is needed: sand-wedge, pitch, pater, irons 9 and 7. Woods will not be useful here.
It is good to acquire clubs, already having an idea about the game, holding a stick in your hands. nine0004
Many clubs offer a “package” for newcomers, which includes, in addition to hours of training with a professional teacher, and
exam, may include a set of clubs that belong to the club and are given to you for use for each lesson.
This is recommended to clubs by many national golf federations, so this should be checked in advance.
opportunities at the club where you plan to take lessons. nine0004
When buying clubs, be sure to try the stroke, try to feel whether it is comfortable for you, and buy only if
she suits you. Agree – it is difficult not to make a mistake without experience.
Have you ever happened to be on a golf course in an ordinary
shoes, or at least make a dozen or two hits on the driving range? If yes, then you probably remember how
then they looked at their favorite pair of shoes with regret, realizing that they had done irreparable damage to it. nine0004
Indeed, golf of any kind is contraindicated without “special training”. Transitions over long distances
(it’s no joke, each 18-hole round is 8 9 km and about 50 golf rounds per year, that is, about 450 km on foot!),
a monstrous twisting load, when the entire weight of the body is concentrated on the left edge of the left boot, the impact
moisture for several hours in a row, sand, thorny bushes, sharp grass stalks – all this is beyond normal
shoe test. nine0004
Actually, the conditions listed above, in which golf shoes are operated, determine the requirements for them.
Only real experts can cope with the task. In this sense, it is highly recommended when choosing a new pair
golf shoes to give preference to specialists in the production of golf shoes, or at least
footwear specialists. If people have been making, for example, glasses all their lives, then why would they suddenly start making excellent
shoes? nine0004
In the world of golf, there are dozens, perhaps thousands, of tools. Accessories, “bells and whistles” promising
instant and permanent improvement of game results, for the acquisition of which golfers are thrown away everywhere
to the wind hundreds and hundreds, expressed in local banknotes. However, de facto nothing has a greater impact on
result than a properly matched golf ball. nine0004
Seemingly the same, golf balls actually have completely different characteristics, designed for players with different
the level of technical proficiency, various degrees of physical and game training. At the same time, perhaps there is no other such
areas in golf where there would be such a huge amount of prejudice regarding the playing qualities of balls, determined by
by outward signs. nine0004
For example, professional balls, which many golfers casually define as soft, are actually harder than the most
“glass”. Meanwhile, at low swing speeds, more “professional” balls steal distance from the players.
Golf bags help you comfortably move all your clubs, golf accessories and balls. Bags for golf clubs “bags”
are spacious enough and have many additional pockets. nine0004
No golfer can get on the course without a golf bag that is designed to be transported to the golf course
clubs, as well as all items, equipment and accessories necessary for a golfer in the game. Bags are made into three large
groups: wearable, transportable and professional.
Carry bags are lighter and have special shoulder straps for carrying and automatic opening
legs. Bags of the second category are usually moved around the golf courses on a cart or on a special machine called
golf carts or buggies. Bags professional have undergone minimal changes over the past couple of hundred years, they
traditionally made of leather according to the patterns of the beginning of the last century. nine0004
Do not think that looking presentable is a sign of luxury and excess. Even while preparing to play with their
comrades, consider that this is a business meeting and requires appropriate clothing.
Many private clubs have branded clothing that usually prescribes the following items: First. Shirt, especially for golf. If you are unsure about the suitability of the clothing for the game, it is best to
put on a shirt of a well-known company that specializes in making such clothes. nine0060 Second. Shorts will also work, but the shorts must be made specifically for golf. Not sports, short shorts, but long ones,
up to the knees. Third. It is indecent to wear jeans. Fourth. Pants and shorts should have belt loops. Lapels, on the contrary, should not be,
because there is dirt.
description, history, rules, equipment
Golf (from English golf ) is a male Olympic sport in which individual participants or teams try to drive a small ball into special holes by hitting clubs. What is important, the ball must be rolled into the hole in fewer strokes.

The history of the emergence and development of golf
The exact date of the origin of golf is not known, but it is believed that it was invented by Scottish shepherds who tried to roll stones into rabbit holes with their staffs. Although many historians disagree, it is believed that golf originated in the Roman Empire and was played with bent sticks and a ball stuffed with feathers. According to other theories, golf appeared in China, during the reign of the Ming Dynasty, this is evidenced by a scroll depicting an emperor who is trying to drive the ball into the hole with something similar to a club.
nine0005
However, modern golf comes from Scotland. The first mention of the game is considered to be the decree of 1457 of King James II of Scotland on the prohibition of golf, as it distracted archers from training. Rules and a system with 18 holes on the field were also invented there.
In 1900, golf was first included in the program of the Olympic Games in Paris (France).
Golf Rules (briefly)
Before starting the game, you must do the following:
nine0005
Read the local rules of the game.
Put an identification mark on the ball. This is necessary so that you can identify your ball among the rest. If the ball could not be identified, then it is considered lost.
Check the number of clubs, it is allowed to have no more than 14 pieces.
The game of golf begins with the starting zone, or as it is also called the “tee” zone. It is so named because of the T-shaped stand on which the ball is placed. Ideally, the player should send the ball into the main zone with the first hit, then overcome it in a few hits and send the ball to the area with perfect grass (“green”). In order to roll the ball into the hole from the green, you need to use a special stick – a putter.
nine0005
In addition to the standard rules, there are rules of etiquette in golf:
Refrain from playing until the group in front has moved to a safe distance.
Never delay the game. Empty the putting green immediately after all players in your group have completed the hole.
Skip forward groups that play faster than you.
Restore sod.
Level the tracks in the bunkers.
nine0075
Don’t step on another partner’s putting line
Do not carry clubs onto the putting green.
Insert the flag carefully.
Golf course
The golf course must meet a number of requirements, namely, it must consist of a series of holes, each of the holes must have its own starting area. There are two marks on the starting area that show the permissible boundaries of the zone for placing a peg for the ball. In addition to the launch pad, there are: a smooth field, an uneven field and other obstacles on the field.
nine0005
The final part of the site is the hole, which is marked with a flag for ease of orientation. The hole is placed in an area with a minimum height of grass, which is called the “green”. In other areas, the height of the grass fluctuates, this is done in order to make it difficult for players to pass through the site.
As a rule, the holes are located in the line of sight from the starting area to the green. But this is not always the case, if the holes deviate to the left or to the right, then such holes are called “left dogleg” and “right dogleg”, respectively. If the direction curves twice, then the hole is called a “double dogleg”.
nine0005
The courts consist of 18 holes, but there are courses with 9 holes, in this situation they are played twice, which in total is the same 18 holes.
Golf gear and equipment
Let’s start the review of golf equipment with clubs. A player can take no more than 14 clubs with him to the game, each of them is designed to perform a certain stroke. Golf clubs are divided into two types:
“Wood” (woods) – sticks designed to make hits at maximum distances, as a rule, these are the first hits. They are called “wood” (from the English “tree”) because of the wooden head, although modern woods are made from metal alloys based on titanium.
nine0076
“Iron” (irons) – clubs designed to perform strikes at various distances, depending on the position of the ball. Sticks are so named because their head is made of metal.
In addition to the material, clubs differ in the shape of the heads. So for strikes over short distances and with a high trajectory, pitching wedge sticks are used, the angle of inclination for such sticks is 50-60 degrees. If the shot needs to be made from a sand bin, then a sand wedge stick is suitable for this, it has a heavier sole and a special shape. For finishing shots, players use a stick called a “putter”, which is designed specifically for hitting on a flat surface with great accuracy.
nine0005
In the “wood” and “iron” groups, clubs are numbered depending on the angle between the shaft and the face of the head. The lower the number, the longer the potential impact trajectory. The difference in the length of strokes with clubs of neighboring numbers is about 10 meters.
Another important piece of golf equipment is the balls. They must have the following characteristics:
diameter not less than 4.27 cm,
weight within 41-46 grams,
the surface of the ball should have 300-500 dimples (the more dimples, the higher the ball flies),
nine0076
When considering golf balls, we should mention the “compression” indicator. In simple words, compression is the level of deformation of the ball upon impact. Its conditional value varies from 0 (the ball is strongly deformed upon impact) to 200 (the ball is not deformed upon impact). Most balls have 80-100 compression (compress 2-3mm on impact).
According to the internal structure, the balls can consist of one, two, three or more layers-components. Due to their low cost, single-layer balls are ideal for training beginners.
nine0005
Double layer balls consist of a hard core and a thin hard shell. They combine low cost, durability and range, making them suitable for most golfers.
Three-ply balls are wound with an elastic thread over an elastic or gel-like core. Such balls can be very tightly twisted, sometimes it is very beneficial for athletes.
In four-ply balls, there is an extra layer between the braid and the shell. The potential of such balls can be revealed only by professionals.
nine0005
Golf tournaments
The most prestigious and popular professional tournaments include:
Olympic Games. Golf was included in the program of the 2016 Olympic Games, before that golf was at the Olympics only 2 times (1900, 1904).
