If you’re looking for a shorter flight time we’d recommend a trip to one of the Spanish Costas. Costa del Sol boasts up to 320 days of sunshine a year and temperatures in September can reach a warm 23°C. On offer is a great mix of destinations such as historic Nerja or if you prefer lively resorts, we would recommend Torremolinos or Fuengirola.

Costa Blanca needs no introduction, in fact, Benidorm has been drawing in the Brits since the 1960’s and is still a top choice for a September break. If you are on a tight budget, look out for some of our top deals in pretty Costa Brava or how about a trip to Costa Dorada?

Flight time – 3.5 hours

Average Temperature – 24°C

When it comes to some Greek sunshine in September we would suggest Crete, Rhodes or Kos.

Crete is the largest of the Greek Islands and has average temperatures of 24°C this time of year. We love the cosmopolitan resort of Aghios Nikolaos, however, if you prefer a busier resort we would suggest staying in the Heraklion area.

Rhodes has so many fascinating resorts to choose from. Rhodes Town hits the spot if you are looking for something old and medieval, whereas the resort of Pefkos is great if you like a resort with a few bars but plenty of restaurants.

Kos has a great mix of resorts from bustling Kardemena to peaceful Psalidi and with temperatures averaging 24°C, we’d definitely recommend a trip to Greece.

Average Temperature – 25°C

If you love history and sightseeing, you’ll be in your element on an All Inclusive holiday in Malta. In fact, the country has often been described as an open air museum. You’ll find a whole heap of things to discover such as, prehistoric temples, medieval towns, churches and cathedrals.

Malta has a rugged coastline with plenty of caves to discover or, if you prefer a sandy beach, head to popular Mellieha Bay. With an average temperature of 29°C, the tiny Dutch island of Aruba is the place to be if you love warm weather and despite the month of September falling into the Caribbean hurricane season, you can rest assured you won’t be affected as Aruba sits south of the hurricane belt.

Carolina Reaper chowdown: Chilli pro eats TEN in just 33.15 sec

Gregory Foster is on fire after achieving yet another chilli eating record in San Diego, California, USA.

On 17 September 2022, the hot pepper enthusiast earned a record title for the fastest time to eat 10 Carolina Reaper chillies after scarfing them down in an impressive 33.15 seconds.

The achievement comes just nine months after his latest triumph, where he crushed the record for the fastest time to eat three Carolina Reaper chillies in an astonishing 8.72 seconds.

Some like it hot, but Gregory is known for taking his spicy speed-eating to the extreme, scarfing down some seriously fiery chillies.

Advertisements

The Carolina Reaper holds the record title for being the hottest chilli pepper ever.

Grown by Ed Currie of the PuckerButt Pepper Company (USA), the Carolina Reaper far outranks familiar spicy peppers like the jalapeño and ghost peppers.

The devilish pepper clocks in at a hellish 1,641,183 Scoville Heat Units—a method of quantifying a substance’s ‘spiciness’, through determining the concentration of the chemical compounds responsible for the sensation.

As well as being a keen chilli eater, Gregory owns a hot sauce company and cultivates his own chillies on his farm.

Advertisements

But why would anyone voluntarily chow down on so many sizzling chilli peppers?

Advertisements

“It’s the passion of pain, I guess,” said Gregory.

While Gregory attempted each of his other records solo, this time there was an added challenge of trying to outperform a Reaper-loving rival.

Mitch Donnelly (USA), who is head football coach and a biology teacher at Westview High School, works with Gregory and once won a chilli eating competition that Gregory organized at a hot sauce festival.

Advertisements

w3.org/1999/xhtml”>So, the chilli eating champs went head-to-head, quickly powering through the peppers one by one to see who could push through the pain and walk away with the record.

“He can definitely put away the peppers; a decent competitor for sure.” – Mitch Donnelly

Between bouts of belching, sweating and hurling, Gregory once again proved that no amount of spiciness is too much for his tastebuds to bear.

Advertisements

“This is the one part of the job that I hate,” said Gregory.

“But it’s the one part of the job that’s the most entertaining for everybody else.”

With a mouth ablaze with peppery fire, Gregory described the experience as similar to trying to eat charcoal as quickly as possible.

“The good thing about Reapers is the really bad heat doesn’t kick in for about 30 seconds or so,” said Gregory.

“It’s when I stand up and start chugging milk and water and everything, to go through the post competition phase, that the heat really kicks in.”

The Carolina Reaper chilli has been described as having a fruity taste, with the initial bite being sweet and then immediately turning to what many say molten lava must feel like.

“It just really is just like liquid lava,” said Gregory.

“It’s painful, it really is.”

Gregory says the key to competitive chilli eating is to have milk and ice cream on hand.

Chillies contain a substance called capsaicin that makes taste buds sting.

When capsaicin binds with sensor receptors in the mouth, heat-detecting neural sensors send a message straight to the brain: “fire!”

Dairy, however, contains casein, a fat-loving compound that binds with spicy capsaicin oil and then washes it away.

This little hack makes eating chilli peppers far easier to tolerate.

After scarfing down all ten Reapers in record-breaking time and guzzling down every ounce of milk he had on hand, the heat-loving contender proved that his pepper-eating prowess still goes unmatched.

“Honestly, if I really wanted to, I could probably do it again right now, but I don’t have any milk or anything like that.”

“Other than that, it was pretty painful,” continued Gregory.

Gregory also holds a third record for the fastest time to eat three Bhut Jolokia chillies in just 7.47 seconds.

The pepper, more commonly known as the Ghost Pepper, is said to be 400 times hotter than Tabasco sauce, with an insane 1,041,427 Scoville Heat Units.

Who knows which spicy pepper record the chilli connoisseur will dare to go after next?

Perhaps the Dragon’s Breath pepper, which (unofficially) tested at over 2.4 million Scoville units and is rumoured to be the hottest chilli pepper ever cultivated.

Holidays on the coasts of the Indian Ocean, Atlantic and Pacific Ocean in September

September is still very hot in Egypt, but still much cooler in September than in August.

Therefore, with a stretch, but we can recommend Egypt in September for a beach holiday. Very warm water awaits you. The nights are slightly cooler in Hurghada than in Sharm El Sheikh.

In the UAE, the heat is also subsiding a little, and at the end of September, those who tolerate the heat well can be recommended to rest in the UAE.

In Thailand, the rainy season, as well as in Vietnam in Nha Trang, and Hainan. Very heavy rains in Phuket, not so much rain in Pattaya. In any case, September is not the best month to travel to Southeast Asia.

In Goa, the rainy season ends, the intensity of the rains decreases, but there are still many rainy days. Maintains high humidity.

In September in the Dominican Republic, in the Caribbean, the highest probability of hurricanes, rain. Unlucky month to visit this part of the planet.

A wonderful holiday in September awaits you in the Canary Islands.

Monthly weather in Spain

Review of the weather and water temperature in Spain by months. What is the weather like in Spain in winter? What is the weather like in Spain in spring? What is the weather like in Spain in summer? What is the weather like in Spain in autumn?

Spain is located in the southwest of Europe. The south and east of the country are washed by the waters of the Mediterranean Sea, and the north and west by the Atlantic Ocean. Most of the landscape is covered by mountains, which is why the climate in different regions is different – in the mountains, the peaks are covered with snow and cool even in summer, while near the coast, winters are short and quite warm.

Winter weather in Spain

December

At the beginning of winter, ski resorts open. The sea is cold, and for walking around the cities and along the coast you will need warm clothes and shoes, it often rains and a cool wind blows from the sea.

  • Air temperature during the day +14°С
  • Air temperature at night +7°С
  • Water temperature +17°С

If the weather is not suitable for walking, you can visit shopping and entertainment centers, walk around museums and interesting tourist places.

January

Many tourists come to Spain in winter for shopping. Walking around the cities is quite comfortable, but do not forget to bring an umbrella and waterproof shoes and clothes in case of rain and wind.

  • Air temperature during the day +12°С
  • Air temperature at night +5°С
  • Water temperature +15°С

The Canary Islands are warmer than the mainland, but it’s too early to swim – the beach season starts in mid-spring.

February

The weather at the end of winter often changes – during the day the sun can shine and it can snow. In the south, it is getting warmer and spring is approaching.

  • Air temperature during the day +16°С
  • Air temperature at night +10°С
  • Water temperature +17°С

The coast of the Canary Islands is noticeably warmer and spectacular festivals are taking place in Cadiz.

Weather in Spain in the spring

March

With the advent of spring, the air and the sea become noticeably warmer, you can walk along the coast without outerwear, but it’s too early to swim.

  • Air temperature during the day +18°С
  • Air temperature at night +10°С
  • Water temperature +17°С

Valencia celebrates the fun and spectacular Fallas, with fireworks and fairs. Tourists come to relax and see the country, while there are not many tourists in museums and at the main attractions.

April

Real spring comes to the coast and mountains, in the daytime you can walk along the coast in a T-shirt, but for evening walks we advise you to take a jacket.

  • Air temperature during the day +22°С
  • Air temperature at night +15°С
  • Water temperature +19°С

It’s too early to swim, but you can comfortably spend time on the beach, enjoying the warm sun and getting a light golden tan.

May

It gets hot in the southern resorts, and many tourists open the swimming season. For a beach holiday, we advise you to take sunscreen so as not to get burned.

  • Air temperature during the day +25°С
  • Air temperature at night +18°С
  • Water temperature +21°С

The Canary Islands are a little warmer and the tourist season is officially open there. On May 2, the Spaniards celebrate Madrid Day – a great opportunity to combine holidays in Spain and join the national traditions.

Weather in Spain in summer

June

The beginning of summer is the opening of the tourist season in all resorts. It is especially hot in the south, the sea warms up even more and becomes warm by the end of the month.

  • Air temperature during the day +30°С
  • Air temperature at night +20°С
  • Water temperature +23°С

In June, various holidays and folk festivals are held throughout the country, and music lovers are advised not to miss the grandiose music festival in Granada.

July

In the middle of summer in Spain there is practically no rain, this is the driest month of the year. It gets really hot even in the northern resorts. Be sure to take sunscreen with SPF 45+ so as not to get sunburned on the beach.

  • Air temperature during the day +35°С
  • Air temperature at night +25°С
  • Water temperature +26°С

You can spend the whole day on the beach, but during the hottest hours of the siesta, it is better to hide from the sun in the shade. We advise you to go to Pamplona for the San Fermin festival and watch the bull races.

August

The hottest summer month, the water is like fresh milk, the air is well warmed up, but sometimes it can rain for a short time in the northern resorts.

  • Air temperature during the day +37°С
  • Air temperature at night +25°С
  • Water temperature +28°С

Local fruits and vegetables ripen in August. And in the city of Bunol, they celebrate the Tomatina harvest festival – everyone throws ripe tomatoes and has fun.

The weather in Spain in autumn

September

The velvet season begins off the coast – the heat subsides a little, and the sea remains warm. By the end of the month, it starts to rain in the north, and the sea is often stormy.

  • Air temperature during the day +28°С
  • Air temperature at night +18°С
  • Water temperature +25°C

The Canary Islands are warm all month long, here the holiday season continues.

Holidays in Spain in September 2020. Cost of tours.

The best prices for tours to Spain at the moment:

In some resort countries, September is considered a very capricious month. However, this is not about Spain! Here the sun continues to caress with its gentle rays and give a bronze tan. By choosing tours to Spain in September, you are giving yourself an amazing gift in the form of a continuation of the summer.

The season starts to decline sharply in early autumn due to the start of the new school year. The demand for sightseeing and beach tours is forcing tour operators and airlines to reduce prices for tour packages and air tickets. At such a moment, if you still have time for a vacation, it is right to look for last-minute tours. Specify the necessary travel parameters in the search form of the tour selection service (see at the top of the page) and in the results table the cheapest prices will be in the top lines. Such vouchers must be redeemed immediately, since there are a lot of hunters for cheap prices.

VELVET MONTH – SPAIN IN SEPTEMBER

The pristine beaches of the Costa Blanca invite you to enjoy your vacation in September 2020. The longest summer is observed in this area – 305 sunny days a year. Summer does not stop in the well-known Canary Islands. At any time of the year, the resorts of the Canary archipelago bring only bright positive emotions to vacationers. The largest of them, Tenerife – the island of eternal spring. All year round it is surrounded by flowers and greenery sparkling from the sun. It is better to see the panorama by climbing to the top of Roque del Conde. From a bird’s eye view, you can see how fresh vegetation creates a contrast against the backdrop of black volcanic sand and azure sea waters. Nothing to say, amazing place! The list of entertainment here is probably never exhausted. Mandatory places to visit: Laura Park, with its famous show of dolphins and fur seals, Teide National Park , reminiscent of paintings from the movie “Star Wars” and the island’s capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife , offering an interesting sightseeing tour. Be sure to try the local cuisine. In any of the restaurants you will be offered seafood delicacies (squid, shrimps, lobsters and much more). The interesting thing is that you can choose the fish you like from the aquarium, and then follow the process of its preparation.

Do not forget about shopping in Spain. September is a great time for shopping. Barcelona and Madrid are best suited for these purposes. Shopping in luxury boutiques is sure to cheer you up. And despite the fact that you will have to pay a lot of money for designer clothes, the prices for clothes and accessories are much cheaper than in the same Paris.

WEATHER IN SPAIN IN SEPTEMBER (according to statistics of weather observations until 2020)

The first half of September in Spain is a pleasure for a beach holiday. The average daily air temperature is +30°C. At night, the thermometer drops to +22°C. Sea water warms up to +25°C. Precipitation is not observed. Feel free to go to the resort.

We recommend choosing the beginning of September , as the weather starts to deteriorate from the second half of the month.

Beste reistijd Gran Canaria

The INEOS Britannia shore team and technicians had a busy day dockside Friday in Palma with the crucial first-stepping of the ‘Silver Arrow’ T6 LEQ12 carbon mast and rigging.

Attention to detail was the name of the game with painstaking measurements taken, re-taken, double-checked and agreed as the team left nothing to chance in this high precision approach to the America’s Cup.

As a mark of where the team are going and what they are trying to achieve, it was a demonstration that this time, under the watchful guide and instruction of the Mercedes AMG-F1 Applied Science team both back in Brackley, Northamptonshire and on the ground in Palma, science and engineering precision will be the guiding force in this America’s Cup campaign.

As a validation tool, getting the platform perfect and leaving nothing to chance is vital to good data being captured.

Time on the water sailing will come quickly, and with their AC40 now delivered and awaiting the modification to the bow as outlined today by the design team at Emirates Team New Zealand, to be completed, INEOS Britannia’s sailors will have plenty of time to hone their technique.

For now, it’s all about getting the LEQ12 platform fit for purpose and thoroughly commissioned to extract that vital data to inform the design direction of their one-build AC75 for Barcelona 2024 and validate the work completed to date on that crucial design process.

And over a period of six hours today, the team beavered away through to sundown to get the rig to the exact measurements and settings that they wanted. An excellent summary of the day is provided below by yachting journalist Justin Chisholm who was onsite and watching the day unfold:

    • The British LEQ12 mast was wheeled out of its enclosure today at 0825, followed on schedule at 0830 by the boat itself.

    • The boat was without its regular wind instrument bowsprit but a pair of wires could at times be seen protruding from the stem of the boat. An incomplete repair to the suspected minor damage to the port foil wing reported on Day Two could be seen during roll out.

    • Having aligned the boat diagonally across the hard standing the shore crew set about the painstaking process of precisely levelling out the cradle and the boat itself. This is meticulous operation that involved a set of four steel tape measures, a number of small hydraulic rams, numerous spirit levels, two plumb lines, a pair of theodolites, and a finely focused laser.

    • The four tape measures suspended from adhesive tape on the upper chines – the forward ones being positioned half a metre forward of the foil arms, and the aft ones roughly a metre from the transom.

    • The plumb lines were dropped from the bow and centre of the stern down to a pair of and the laser was used to site along a thin line run along the ground down the length of the boat and extending for another estimated tow boat lengths beyond the stern.

    • At 1045 the shore crew held a 25-minute briefing session about stepping the rig.

    • By 1110 rig on mast step but suspended by the crane as the crew attached the stays. Supporting lines to the top of the mast were attached to strategically positioned concrete blocks to keep the mast stabilised through this process.

    • The mast was manufactured by Southern Spars and has elliptical swept back spreaders and a set of fractional outer stays as well as a set of inners terminating just below spreaders.

    • By 1145 all stays were attached and a purchase system at the bow appeared to be now acting as a forestay tensioning method.

    • A tape measure was used frequently to measure from mast head to central point aft of cockpit and spirit levels were frequently used on mast forward face in what turned out to be a six-hour operation to set the rig up to the team’s satisfaction.

    • Eventually, after sundown and illuminated by the base’s floodlights; at 1800 the stays were removed and the process of un-stepping the mast began. No ‘recon-able’ action is planned for tomorrow (Saturday November 26) but another day of rig tuning is scheduled for Sunday November 27.

I flew to Mallorca many times in late September – early October to cheer up. In Germany it’s raining, windy, overcast, faces all around seem to have eaten lemons… but at this time in Mallorca…. SUMMER, SUN, +30, water +24, hot sand, everyone is happy and cheerful.

Since I flew for 2-3 days, I didn’t go far from the airport and stopped, khe-khe, in S’Arenal. Yes, there are a lot of drunken Germans, but it’s full of free German and all kinds of girls who want to have fun As they say, it’s a shame to tell, but it’s very nice to remember Mallorca vari-vari-good, S’Arenal ve best!

We base the humidity comfort level on the dew point, as it determines whether perspiration will evaporate from the skin, thereby cooling the body. Lower dew points feel drier and higher dew points feel more humid. Unlike temperature, which typically varies significantly between night and day, dew point tends to change more slowly, so while the temperature may drop at night, a muggy day is typically followed by a muggy night.

The chance that a given day will be muggy in Marbella is very rapidly decreasing during September, falling from 45% to 18% over the course of the month.

For reference, on August 18, the muggiest day of the year, there are muggy conditions 48% of the time, while on November 21, the least muggy day of the year, there are muggy conditions 0% of the time.

We draw particular cautious attention to our reliance on the MERRA-2 model-based reconstructions for a number of important data series. While having the tremendous advantages of temporal and spatial completeness, these reconstructions: (1) are based on computer models that may have model-based errors, (2) are coarsely sampled on a 50 km grid and are therefore unable to reconstruct the local variations of many microclimates, and (3) have particular difficulty with the weather in some coastal areas, especially small islands.

We further caution that our travel scores are only as good as the data that underpin them, that weather conditions at any given location and time are unpredictable and variable, and that the definition of the scores reflects a particular set of preferences that may not agree with those of any particular reader.

Where does this data come from?

Weather data for Marbella was collected from the MERRA-2 project from NASA, which used a climate model combined with historical data from weather stations around the world to estimate what the conditions were like for every point on the Earth.

For all data based on historical data, we’ve averaged the data from the past 11 years (2010-2020). For example, for the hourly temperature at 10am, we’ve looked at the temperature at 10am on every day in September (e.g., September 1, September 2, etc. in 2010, 2011, etc.) and took the arithmetic mean. We did not smooth the data, so for example, our daily temperature line will have some randomness due to the fact that weather is random in the first place.

The chance that a given day will be muggy in Puerto de la Cruz is decreasing during September, falling from 46% to 37% over the course of the month.

The highest chance of a muggy day during September is 46% on September 1.

For reference, on September 1, the muggiest day of the year, there are muggy conditions 46% of the time, while on January 14, the least muggy day of the year, there are muggy conditions 0% of the time.

We draw particular cautious attention to our reliance on the MERRA-2 model-based reconstructions for a number of important data series.
