August Weather in Fuerteventura, Spain – 2023 – Winter Sun Expert

Fuerteventura, the second largest of Spain’s Canary Islands, sits in the Atlantic Ocean 10 km (6 Miles) off the north coast of Africa. It’s known primarily as a holiday destination due to its white-sand beaches and year-round warmth cooled by constant winds. The multitude of beaches that wrap around it is interrupted by cliffs and sheltered coves. It is popular for water sports, especially surfing, windsurfing and waterskiing.

The island’s name is a compound word formed by the Spanish words for “strong” (fuerte) and “fortune” (ventura). Fuerteventura is the oldest island in the Canary Islands dating back 20 million years to a volcanic eruption from the Canary hotspot. However, the last volcanic activity in Fuerteventura occurred between 4,000 and 5,000 years ago.

AUGUST

BEACH HOLIDAYS

Europe:

In August, European beach destinations are in constant demand, but the cost of tours in August is very high. Why this happens – read here.

A good choice would be the Greek islands: Crete, Rhodes, Corfu, Zakynthos or Kos. Gorgeous weather is on the Greek Halkidiki. In August, these places are hot and dry – the air temperature reaches 32-34 ° C, and sometimes even higher, the water temperature is 26-28 ° C, which allows you to spend a lot of time at sea.

Also a comfortable holiday awaits you in Spain: the Costa Brava, the Costa Dorada and the island of Mallorca offer a varied holiday for both families with children and young people. The air here warms up to 28-32°C, the water does not fall below 25-26°C.

It’s hot in Italy too: on the mainland, the air in August can warm up to 35°C, but the sea – no more than 24-25°C, which creates a pleasant contrast. On the islands – Sicily, Ischia, Sardinia – the weather is the same, only the sea is still warmer – 26-28 ° C.

A pleasant holiday awaits you in Montenegro, Croatia and Bulgaria. It’s sunny here, rain is unlikely. The air temperature in August here reaches its maximum values - 30-33°C, the water is consistently at least 24-25°C.

Côte d’Azur: Nice, Saint-Tropez, Cannes can also boast of wonderful weather: air – 28°C, water – 25-26°C. It has a pleasant mild climate, good beaches, and an excellent excursion. You can safely relax with children.

Please note that August is the most popular month for recreation among Europeans themselves. They plan holidays in advance and in August literally flood their own resorts. Because of this, often, for example, in Italy, on the beach you can hardly find a free place to sunbathe. In the resorts in the truest sense of the word “do not overcrowd.” Keep this in mind, and plan your August vacation a lot in advance!

South East Asia:

Thailand, Vietnam, India and Sri Lanka are hardly the best places to visit in August. Seasonal monsoons dominate here, they bring with them winds and rains, which can go on non-stop for quite a long time. And, although the air temperature sometimes reaches impressive levels – 30-33 ° C, it is unlikely that rest at this time of the year will be comfortable.

Caribbean:

In the Caribbean countries of the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Cuba, August is the month of the “low” season. It is in August that very serious hurricanes most often occur. Often there are prolonged showers, which contributes to strong air humidity, in addition, they are often accompanied by heavy winds. And, although the air and water temperatures are truly beachy – 30-32 ° C and 27-29°С, respectively, for a holiday in these countries it is better to choose a better time.

Canaries:

August is a great time to visit the Canary Islands. It is hot here, the air temperature is 29-30°C, the water temperature is a maximum of 23°C, but it doesn’t happen here anymore, because. the cool Atlantic Ocean dictates its terms. In August, Tenerife offers a lot of entertainment: for outdoor enthusiasts there is diving and surfing, for young people – nightlife and discos, for older tourists – a tireless excursion and various holidays and festivals.

Indian Ocean Islands:

Maldives in August is a great choice! The approach of autumn is not felt here, since the equator is near, the weather is excellent: air temperature – 29 ° C, water – 27 ° C. Light rains usually fall at night and do not cause any problems for tourists.

On Mauritius in August the weather is quite cool – the air temperature most often does not exceed 25-26°C, water – 23-24°C, which is not very suitable for beach lovers. It is dry here, but strong winds are not uncommon. But the number of tourists staying on vacation in August is significantly reduced, which will allow you to relax quite secluded, and the cost of tours is lower than in the “high” season.

Seychelles , like the Maldives, will delight you with pleasant weather. It is dry here, there is a minimum of precipitation, the air temperature is 29-30°C, the water is 26°C. Here you will find a calm, comfortable, measured rest.

Bali:

The weather is great in Bali, Indonesia. The “dry” season dominates here. The air temperature does not fall below 30°C, water – 27-28°C. A beach holiday is perfectly combined with numerous excursion routes and various trips around the island.

Middle East and North Africa:

Turkey is the absolute leader in terms of attendance. At the height of the season, hotels operate at full capacity – the richest tables, the brightest animation and the most reckless discos. Air 33-35°C, water 28-29°C.

In Morocco in August it is hot and dry. The air temperature “warms up” to 38-40°C, but the water is only 21-22°C, here, as in the Canary Islands, the cold Atlantic “tried”. Nevertheless, it is worth visiting here not only for the sake of a beach holiday – Morocco is a very distinctive country that combines Berbero-Arab traditions and culture.

In Egypt, Bahrain, Israel, Jordan and UAE it is also very hot and dry — the air temperature almost every day is 40°С, the water temperature is 30°С, it is a real hell. August weather is perhaps not the most comfortable for visiting these countries, however, the same Egypt is often in demand in August.

Russia:

There is an influx of tourists in the Crimea and the Krasnodar Territory in August. The weather is excellent – air temperature reaches 30-33°C, water – 25-27°C. Rains happen, but most often short-term, which allows you to slightly bring down the heat of the day. On the beaches it is sometimes difficult to find a free place, in the resorts – sold out. In addition, various fruits and berries are already ripening in August: watermelons, melons, grapes, peaches and much more. Why not a paradise for gourmets?

Cruises:

The most popular are Mediterranean cruises. Liners call at the ports of magnificent cities: you can see Athens and Istanbul, Barcelona and Monte Carlo, Portofino and Genoa and many other magnificent coastal cities.

Very popular are cruises on the rivers of Russia and Europe, as well as cruises in the Baltic with a call to the countries of Scandinavia, the Baltics and the ports of our Motherland.

SKI HOLIDAYS

For those who are ready to go skiing even in summer, we have options: a lot of glaciers still accept tourists. I would like to mention Alpine glaciers such as Hintertux, Melltal and Dachstein in Austria, Les des Alpes in France, Folgefon and Galdhøpiggen in Norway. All of these glaciers have snow, ski lifts, and open ski runs.

Attractions

The Giant

A ride for everyone. Launch yourself into Giant’s jaws and glide through its enormous and zigzagging slides before landing into its huge pool.

Mekong Rapids

Giant floats to enjoy with friends and family on this incredible ride. Launch yourself down this wide slide at breakneck speed and you’ll soon know why Siam Park is one of the best water parks on the planet. Fun guaranteed.

Naga Racer

Who’ll get there first? Six lanes to compete. A mat each. You don’t need much more to have a good time. Launch yourself down next to family or friends and try to get to the end before the rest. That’s what Naga Racer is all about.

The Volcano

Darkness, mist, and light shows combine to transport us to the inside of a volcano, while we descend through its crater aboard a rubber ring.

Jungle Snake

Cross the jungle aboard a rubber ring. Go down through the ride’s snaky routes.

Dragon

Head down, together with family or friends, on one of the park’s enormous rubber rings into the enormous funnel protected by the dragon and experience the amazing feeling of zero gravity as you move from one side of the funnel to the other before it swallows you.

Tower of Power

Undoubtedly the park’s most famous attraction, and for many, the best.

If you don’t have vertigo and want to spark some adrenaline, the Tower of Power won’t let you down. Climb to the top of the tower and prepare to launch yourself in free fall down an almost vertical slope 28 metres high, before submerging yourself through a spectacular shark tank.

As you launch yourself down, you’ll understand why it’s the most popular attraction in Siam Park. An unforgettable experience.

The Lost City

Ideal for young children. A fortress where they can have fun without any risk at all. With 24ºC water, heading down the slides, crossing bridges or enjoying the waterfalls will be a delight for all of them.

Sawasdee

Another part of the park designed especially for children’s enjoyment. It has 4 different slides and endless possibilities for the youngest children. A true oasis of fun.

The Wave Palace

24 degrees centigrade. This is the temperature of the largest artificial wave on the planet. A world record held by Siam Park. Surf it, if you dare, or wait on the shores of the park’s paradisiacal beach.

Siam Beach

Siam Beach lets you take a breather. Relax in its clear waters, recharge your batteries while having a snack, or lie down underneath the palm trees in this little paradise. The water temperature is 24ºC all year around.

Kinnaree

One of the park’s newest attractions. Three experiences in one. A winding slide 200m long which is full of surprises, speed, and curves.

Siam Park, Tenerife; the number one water park in the world

Visit Siam Park

Siam Park is a huge water park on the south west coast of Tenerife. It has been voted the number one water park in the world and as well as having some spectacular rides has been beautifully designed in an oriental style.

Explore Siam Park

Siam Park has the largest collection of Thai-themed buildings outside of Thailand and was opened by the Princess of Thailand. The buildings and the lush planting all around the park is fabulous and makes the park very enjoyable to visit.

There is something for everyone here with attractions for relaxing, rides to do with the family and rides for adrenaline-junkies.

If you are looking for a thrill then the Tower of Power is a good place to start. The slide is 28 meters high and you can reach a speed of 80 km/h. To cap it all part of the slide takes you right through a shark tank! If you get to the top and decide its not for you – you won’t be the first.

The Dragon ride possibly matches the Tower of Power for thrill-seekers. In a dingy for four you drop down a completely vertical funnel until you reach the darkness at the bottom and then get ejected out to the ride’s finish.

Also amongst the adrenaline rides are Volcano which is a slide through darkness with a light show while you ride, Singha which is the newest ride and is an aquatic roller coaster that has you sliding along at speed and also the Mekong rapids.

For families there are also a host of good rides. Sawasdee is an area with child friendly versions of the adrenaline rides, Jungle Snakes, Naga Racer and The Giant are different slides suitable for younger visitors though still fun for adults and teenagers. Lost City is a childrens pool with Thai themed slides and fountains and lots to make the area fun for smaller children. Siam Park’s Wave Palace is fun for everyone. The artificial wave at 3 meters high is the biggest in the world and the pool is huge so everyone can enjoy it.

After all the excitement you can relax at the beautiful Floating Market,  hit the beach at Siam Beach, watch the sea lions at Sea Lion Island or enjoy the lazy river at Mai Thai River. If you want to treat yourselves head to the Champagne Club or rent a private villa for the day.

X-Zone

X-Zone is an extreme entertainment zone located in the center of the park. It contains 10 breathtaking attractions for adults and older children (over 130 cm). Among them are Vortex – a roller coaster 33 m high and 80 km / h with spirals and rings; carousels “Condor”, towering above the ground at 50 m; flying carpet “Aladdin”; “Giant drop”, giving the feeling of falling from a 75-meter tower; Top Spin, which rotates seated passengers around an axis high in the sky, and so on.

Family World

Family World is an educational and entertainment area in Siam Park for the whole family. It consists of several thematic areas. “African Adventures” is a complex that provides an opportunity to get acquainted with the animal world and the color of the “Black Continent”. “Jurassic Park” – an area where figures of dinosaurs are placed, which can be viewed from a jeep. Acquaintance with the giants is proposed to continue in the “Dinotopia”, a museum dedicated to the Jurassic period.

Slides Vortex

In addition, Family World includes several attractions suitable for younger children, such as the “Two-story carousel”, the 109 m high Sea-Am observation tower, which offers a panoramic view of the park, water slides, the not-so-scary “Room fear” and others.

Fantasy World and Small World

Fantasy World is a zone of Siam Park for not very brave adults and brave children. It includes attractions such as “Disco” – giant plates spinning in a dance rhythm; “Dragon” – a pirate ship swinging at 60º; Fantasy World is an indoor playground with several carousels operating in different planes.

Small World – an area for kids up to 130 cm tall. It includes carousels with horses and spaceships, mini-motorcycles, a pool with swans-boats and other attractions.

Water Park

Water Park – a complex of swimming pools with aqua attractions. In this zone there are two objects listed in the Guinness Book: the world’s largest reservoir with an artificial wave, its area is 13.6 thousand square meters, and the fastest slide in Southeast Asia, the height of a seven-story building.

The Water Park includes several pools, slides of different heights and shapes, including for kids, playgrounds with sun loungers, changing rooms and so on.

Siam Park City in Bangkok is a great place for family fun. Its attractions cannot be called ultra-modern, but they are able to give a lot of positive emotions to both children and adults.

Siam Park, one of the largest European water parks, is one of the main attractions of Tenerife, which attracts children of all ages, their parents , as well as all fans of thrills.

Tour dates in 2022: on request.

The water park is located in the southern part of the island, just a couple of kilometers from Playa de las Americas, on the territory of Costa Adeje. Built in 2008, Siam Park is already firmly at the top of Tenerife’s entertainment list, attracting thousands of visitors every year from all over the world.

The park was built using the most advanced technology, with the involvement of major local and foreign professionals, and the design was carried out by a famous architect from Bangkok. This explains why the water park is made in Thai style, and all its buildings copy the famous sights of ancient Thailand. Siam Park is the champion among water parks in several categories at once. For example, here is the largest artificial wave in the world with a height of three meters and the slowest river flows with a height difference of eight meters.

Siam Park – Tenerife, Spain

On a vast territory of 185 thousand square meters there are many attractions, most of which are towers, slides and various jumps. All pools in the park are filled with ocean water. For those who prefer a quiet holiday, a large beach and a slow-flowing river Mai Thai have been built. Thrill-seekers and adrenaline junkies will appreciate the Kamikazes and Twister slides, as well as the Tower of Power.

A new extreme attraction was opened last year. Flying down from a height of 28 meters, you find yourself in a funnel around which real sea predators swim. In addition to the rides mentioned above, Siam Park has 25 different slides and a unique wave palace.

Christmas in Gran Canaria 2022

Belen de Arena in Gran Canaria

A holiday in Gran Canaria is probably your best bet for a sunny and warm Christmas, along with the rest of the Canary Islands, which have the best climate in Europe during winter.

If you want to know more about it read further regarding the hottest Canary Island, to get a better sense of how warm you can expect the weather to be during the winter months.

How is the weather at Christmas in Gran Canaria

Will it be warm enough to spend Christmas day at the beach?

Can you swim in the ocean on Christmas in Gran Canaria?

We get these types of questions all the type and it’s usually from visitors who are coming for the first time to the island or maybe it’s their first visit during a winter month.

Although the Canary Islands have a very mild winter, with temperatures usually in their mid-20s°C during the daytime, nobody can predict the weather accurately, especially several months in advance, given all the climate changes happening around the globe.

But you do have great chances to swim in the ocean if you’re spending Christmas in Gran Canaria, although you can expect the water temperature to be around 19°C – 20°C, so a bit chilly, but definitely doable if you want to want to have a splash.

You could also do some shopping a few days before Christmas and then take your friends or family for a picnic on the beach, as this definitely be an experience to remember, something very different compared to a Christmas at home.

For sunny and warm winter holidays in Gran Canaria, we recommend staying in the south of the island, where it’s normally warmer and drier, with fewer chances of precipitation.
