Gran Castillo Tagoro Family & Fun Playa Blanca Inn (Lanzarote, Canary Islands (Spain))

The fourth largest island of the Canary Islands, Lanzarote, located off the coast of Africa, surprises and attracts with its unusual landscape and color contrasts. In 1730-1736, Lanzarote was shaken by a six-year-long volcanic eruption that irreversibly changed both the island and the everyday life of its inhabitants. A large amount of fertile land and settlements were buried under an abundant layer of lava, part of the territory was covered with a thick layer of dust.

The powerful force of nature has thus created an amazing view and incredible contrasts that delight everyone who comes to Lanzarote. In some places on the island, it may seem as if you are on the moon: craters and caves of volcanic origin rise here. There are many unusual black rocks that rinse the crystal clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean. But here, a few kilometers away, there are also long white sandy beaches, some of which are marked with the Blue Flag. They are ready to receive tourists all year round. Along the coast, the cities and towns are rich in heritage from the time when, due to volcanoes, the life of the island belonging to Spain was not different. Restaurants, cafes, hotels and shops are located in these towns in the shade of palm trees, and life is seething.

Lanzarote is a small island. The length of the island from south to north is 60 km, from the western to eastern coasts a little more than 20 km. The coastline is about 213 km, most of it is covered with rocks. The climate of Lanzarote is similar to that of North Africa. Warmth and sun pamper the island all year round. In January and February, the air temperature during the day reaches an average of 22 degrees, at night it drops to 14 degrees. From June to August, the thermometer rises to an average of 29 degrees, and sometimes almost up to 40 degrees. The water temperature ranges from 17 to 24 degrees. The sun shines on the island 300 days a year, and rain is a rare guest, most often appearing only in November – March.

Lanzarote doesn’t have very lush greenery, only palm trees, olive trees and cacti. However, in the central part of the island, for example, in the La Geria area, the locals have found a way to grow the grapes from which Lanzarote’s Malvasia wine is made. In order to accumulate moisture and protect the grapes from the wind, each plant sits in a hole, the depth and diameter of which reaches several meters, enclosed by a semicircular stone fence (zoco). The oldest wine cellar on the island, El Grifo (18th century), still produces 400-600 thousand bottles of wine per year. It also has a wine museum. Lanzarote is also a supplier of fish and goat cheese, and salt has long been mined in the south of the island.

The island will appeal to those who are looking for not only a relaxing holiday by the blue ocean, but also a lot of interesting, unusual adventures. This is a great place for family holidays, couples. There are many different places to visit and monuments on the island – many of them were created by the famous architect of the island, Cesar Manrique. It is difficult to find a place on the island in the improvement of which he would not take part.

The Atlantic wind in Lanzarote creates excellent conditions for water activities, warm water allows you to enjoy swimming, diving, surfing and windsurfing, kitesurfing, etc. Fishing is also popular on the island. Many resorts are convenient for cycling, walking, hiking or playing golf, for which the weather here is favorable all year round.

Arrecife

Located in the center of the east coast of the island, Arrecife is the largest city of Lanzarote and its capital, as well as a financial and cultural center founded in the 19th century. It became the capital in 1852. Currently, more than half of all the inhabitants of the island live here.

Arrecife has long been an important trading point of the island. Guests of the city notice this, as there are many shopping centers, specialized shops, souvenir and handicraft shops. Various goods of local artisans are offered, and even those imported due to more favorable conditions applied to the island are sold at fairly low prices.

Arrecife also attracts tourists with its coastline, which is full of islands and reefs formed by lava flows. You can admire them while walking along the alleys. Witnesses of the history of the city and the island are two fortresses. One of them – Castillo de San Gabriel (Castillo San Gabriel) – rises on a tiny rocky island, which is connected to the coast by a drawbridge. Exactly where the main metropolitan shopping streets Leon and Castillo (Leon y Castillo) end. The bridge is decorated with two towers, on top of which there is a cannonball each. This fort was built by King Philip II to protect himself from pirates sailing from North Africa. Another city fortress, Castillo de San Jose, had the same purpose. Today it houses the Museum of Modern Art.

Another of the most visited sites is Charo de San Gines. It is a lake formed by inflowing sea water, surrounded by fishermen’s houses. Next to it stands the main city church of San Gines. A particularly amazing view nearby opens in the evening, when the lake is illuminated by the setting sun.

Fire Mountains, Timanfaya

After volcanic eruptions lasting six years, and another blow in 1824, part of the island in the northwest became an unrecognizable place filled with lava and pulsing with heat. To protect it, the Timanfaya National Park, also called the fiery mountains, was created. This is the most visited place in Lanzarote, attracting about a million people every year. You can explore Timanfaya on the buses of the park, it is forbidden to travel on foot or with your own transport. And it’s not recommended. At a depth of only 13 m, the temperature is about 600 degrees. The network of roads among the rocks, which in some places reach an impressive size of several meters, was formed by the architect César Manrique. The surface of the earth resembles the moon – it is a colorful, hard-covered desert covered with petrified lava. It is estimated that now more than 30 volcanoes rise in the park. At the end of the path, at the highest point of the island, is the El Diablo restaurant, where dishes are cooked using heat rising from the depths of the earth. Park officials demonstrate how unusually hot the ground is under their feet: poured water into a pipe dug into the ground turns into a geyser, dry grass thrown into a small hole ignites. The park also offers another impressive entertainment – a camel tour. At 1993 this park is included in the UNESCO heritage list.

Jameos del Agua

In the sixth decade of the last century, Cesar Manrique decided to create a unique tourist attraction. Near one of the lava caves (Jameo Chico) extending to the northeast, he built a staircase down and around a small natural lake in the rock equipped with an impressive bar and restaurant, sometimes even called the most beautiful nightclub in the world. The restaurant offers tourists not only to sit down for a while, but also to spend the evening on the dance floor to the sounds of Spanish music. True, it is not the cheapest on the island. The water of the lake and the surrounding reservoirs is very transparent, only blind albino crabs that live on this island, which have become the symbol of Jameos del Agua, are visible in it. Next to the cave-restaurant, the architect built a modern villa with a very cozy garden. Jameos del Agua is located near one of the most impressive and longest caves in the world, Los Verdes, which was formed 4,000 years ago by an erupting volcano. Under the ground here stretches a tunnel of 6 km. For many centuries, such tunnels for the inhabitants of Lanzarote were a refuge from the excesses of pirates, and since 1964 he is open to tourists. For those who are curious, this miracle of nature can be viewed accompanied by guides.

Cactus garden

The Cactus Garden (Jardin de Cactus) is a good example of how well architecture can fit into the landscape. Cesar Manrique, who left many traces of his talent in Lanzarote, the designed garden captivates with an interesting design: winding paths with leading steps deeper into the garden. Symbolically, it is very similar to one of the region’s many craters. On the territory of 5,000 sq. m in total grows more than 7,200 specimens of 1,100 species of cacti from such distant and remote places as Peru, Mexico, Chile, USA, Kenya, Tanzania, Madagascar, Morocco and, of course, the Canary Islands themselves. Prickly and non-thorny cacti are of various sizes and shapes. Nearby there is a beautiful windmill, where gofio is still being prayed – barley and corn flour, which was the main focus of the cuisine already in the time of the ancient local residents of the Guanches. The cactus garden is based in the city of Guatiza, Teguise municipality, where the land is favorable for large cactus plantations.

Where to go to have a rest in the winter and where to celebrate the New Year?

Most of the days off and holidays fall on the cold season. In January, there is even an opportunity to stretch your vacation for a whole month!

Many tourists prefer to go to even more snowy countries. But most vacationers still think about where to fly to the sea in winter in order to diversify the “cold” holidays. Travelers also love to celebrate holidays along with the cool European winter. Therefore, quite a lot of vacationers buy sightseeing bus tours. There are a lot of options where to relax in the winter and everyone will find an offer “to their liking”.

Where you can fly to relax in the winter at sea

Traditionally, Russian tourists prefer to relax in the winter on the sunny beaches of Egypt. But since there are now some problems with traveling to this country, travel lovers are thinking about where else they can enjoy an inexpensive and at the same time good rest.

India

Getting to this exotic country is, of course, more difficult. India is ready to offer its vacationers an unforgettable exotic vacation and at the same time reasonable prices. A week tour can cost about 400-500 USD. Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to see the unique Indian sunsets, where the sun literally falls below the horizon. Every evening spent in this country will be truly amazing and unique. The sea at this time of the year is approximately +27 °C. The air can warm up to +30 °C. If tourists are thinking about where they can go on vacation in the winter and choose India, it is recommended to take a sunblock with a high level of sun protection.

Thailand

Holidays in this exotic country will cost a little more than in India. You will have to spend about 700-800 USD on a ticket. First of all, all tourists explore the large and diverse metropolis – Bangkok – the capital of Thailand. All supporters of the warm and crystal clear sea of the Maldives will be embarrassed to find satisfaction for themselves on the islands of Thailand. Supporters of chaotic traffic and a large number of excursion programs would be best to stop in Pattaya. A calm and quiet holiday, which is distinguished by high service, will be waiting for its tourists in Koh Samui and Phuket. A wide variety of flora and fauna throughout this country can surprise even the most demanding travelers. When lovers of exotic cuisine choose where to fly to relax in the winter, then Thailand will be able to surprise them as much as possible: here you will try fried locust and unique fried larvae. At this time of the year, the temperature in the country is approximately +28 ° C and sunny weather is always pleasing.

Canary Islands

The picturesque archipelago of the Atlantic Ocean will “shelter” lovers of magnificent surrounding landscapes. These are islands of eternal summer and a gentle, warm climate. Formally, these islands belong to Spain. But you can hardly feel even a little European spirit here. Travelers head to the Canary Islands for the exotic: black volcanic beaches, incredible tropical landscape and juicy ripe fruits. The Canary Islands is a fairly close resort where you can fly to the sea in winter at affordable prices. Rest will cost tourists about 1000 USD, and at the same time they will be able to see the fabulous “lunar” valleys that were formed from solidified lava, a large number of prehistoric monuments and huge noisy waterfalls. Divers and surfers will also find plenty to do in the Canary Islands.

Cuba

Latin American dances and delicious hot cocktails await tourists on the island of Cuba. The azure coast and beautiful colorful fish are of course a little expensive, and holidays on this island are most often chosen by travelers with above-average earnings. But guests of the country will be able to satisfy many of their needs and requirements here. Service in Cuba is of a high level and is able to please everyone. There are a lot of opportunities for entertainment on the island, where lovers of snorkeling, diving and yachting can go on vacation in winter. Famous cigarettes and rum can be tasted on the sandy shore with an air temperature of about +24 °C.

Seychelles

A great place for those tourists who want a calm and quiet holiday, away from the modern hustle and bustle. You can truly relax here, enjoying the beautiful archipelagos and exclusive relaxation on the beach. Also here they will find a place for a lover of yachting and real sea fishing. The air temperature on the islands is about +29 °C. But the pristine nature and snow-white beaches will cost a lot.

Myanmar

The resort has been quite popular lately, where it is inexpensive and interesting to go on vacation in winter. Resorts in Myanmar are truly luxurious. The city of Bagan will help you to take a break from the daily bustle and leave the noisy civilization behind. Eco-tourists will simply admire the chic nature of this country and its environs. Myanmar is a country where lovers of a rich excursion program should go on vacation in winter.

“Cold” and “warm” holidays for the New Year

A good option for supporters of a snowier winter than at home would be a holiday in Slovenia in the city of Bohinj. There is more than enough snow here until mid-April. It’s good to go there for a vacation for those who have only recently started skiing or want to get acquainted with a ski holiday.

Fans of a “hot” New Year and carnival mood should go to the Canary Islands. Just in January and February, there are numerous festivals and events. Holidays for the New Year will bring all sorts of musical performances, fancy dress contests and beauty contests that will not leave anyone indifferent.

Monte Carlo will be able to please its “winter” tourists with a chic Circus festival.

We base the humidity comfort level on the dew point, as it determines whether perspiration will evaporate from the skin, thereby cooling the body. Lower dew points feel drier and higher dew points feel more humid. Unlike temperature, which typically varies significantly between night and day, dew point tends to change more slowly, so while the temperature may drop at night, a muggy day is typically followed by a muggy night.

The chance that a given day will be muggy in Costa Blanca is essentially constant during December, remaining around 0% throughout.

For reference, on August 7, the muggiest day of the year, there are muggy conditions 72% of the time, while on January 8, the least muggy day of the year, there are muggy conditions 0% of the time.

We draw particular cautious attention to our reliance on the MERRA-2 model-based reconstructions for a number of important data series. While having the tremendous advantages of temporal and spatial completeness, these reconstructions: (1) are based on computer models that may have model-based errors, (2) are coarsely sampled on a 50 km grid and are therefore unable to reconstruct the local variations of many microclimates, and (3) have particular difficulty with the weather in some coastal areas, especially small islands.

We further caution that our travel scores are only as good as the data that underpin them, that weather conditions at any given location and time are unpredictable and variable, and that the definition of the scores reflects a particular set of preferences that may not agree with those of any particular reader.

Costa Blanca, Spain – December Weather

What’s the Weather like in Costa Blanca in December

Average Sunshine Hours

Costa Blanca locals and tourists can expect around 3,000 hours of sunshine per year, and 325 days per year of bright blue skies, and hazy sunshine. This means December is still likely to provide 180 hours of sunshine in the month, at six hours per day not bad!

Temperature

December is the coldest month of the year, with an average of 12 degrees Celsius, 55 degrees in Fahrenheit and lows of seven degrees.

Average Sea Temperature & Rainfall

Sea temperatures return to the January average of 15 degrees Celsius, but the amount of rainfall does decrease slightly against November’s figures. It is unlikely to get any colder at this time of year, due to the surrounding landscape, which is likely to block the path of any cold winds coming in from the north.

The wide choice of restaurants available in Costa Blanca is enough to whet anyone’s appetite. The Thai option of Papaya Tree has been internationally recognised for its success in the Playa Flamenca area. The Hippodrome

Elsewhere, the Hippodrome nightclub is among one of the common places for clubbers to go and dance into the early hours. It is a lively venue which caters for all. If you don’t fancy hitting the dance floor, there is an outside terrace overlooking the busy Benidorm square beneath, so you can sit back and soak up the hustle and bustle instead of having to be in the thick of it.

Things to do in Costa Blanca in December

International Puppet Festival

As with the start of the year, the end of the calendar season provides a quiet feel to local and cultural events in Costa Blanca. The pick of a tame bunch is the International Puppet Festival in early December. It began back in 1984 and has grown in popularity year in, year out. Organised by the Alicante Town Hall, 206 groups from various countries have taken part with every puppet technique thought of having been used over the years. Preparation is key! This phrase can be applied to many areas of life, but it is especially true for one of our users. In roe deer fawn rescue, good preparation is essential. In 2010, members started rescuing roe deer fawns before founding the official association “Rehkitzrettung Schweiz” in 2017.

The simulation history archive offers access to past weather simulations for every place in the world. You can see weather information for yesterday or the weather history of the last years. The weather archive diagrams is separated in 3 charts:

  • Temperature, including relative humidity in hourly intervals
  • Clouds (grey background) and clear sky (yellow background). The darker the grey background, the more dense is the cloud cover
  • Wind speed and direction (in degree 0° = North, 90° = East, 180° = South and 270° = West). In the history archive meteogram, the purple points represent the wind direction, as indicated on the right axis.

Please consider the following:

  • The weather archive shows simulation data, not measured data, for the selected area.
  • The data is not compared to measured data of a weather station (because in more than 99% of the places on Earth, no measurements are available). Simulation data with high predictability can replace measurements. For areas or data with lower predictability, simulation cannot replace measurements and can also not be used as an evidence.

10 best places from Palace

Where to go on a honeymoon during a pandemic? We are lucky – we live in a vast country where you can find both subtropics and tundra, where it is easy and simple to touch history and enjoy real miracles! So do not despair – and choose the best places for a honeymoon trip in Russia! nine0005

01 / 01

Karelia

Karelia is a whole republic with amazing northern nature and a special national flavor. The beauty is that from St. Petersburg you can go here by car – and visit several corners of this region at once. It will appeal to those who like to relax with a tent and go fishing, and those who prefer a “civilized” holiday in hotels. Karelia can also be visited by water route – the ship will take you to Kizhi and the capital, the city of Petrozavodsk. It will be important for religious people to visit Valaam. And here you can also take amazing photos in the marble canyon of Ruskeala, visit several waterfalls at once, find petroglyphs that are more than 6000 years old … In general, a honeymoon in Karelia is a real adventure!
nine0005

We propose to make a white gold engagement ring with diamonds as pure as the waters of Lake Onega as the talisman of your honeymoon trip to Karelia. The strict beauty of these rings is so similar to the restrained beauty of the landscapes of the generous Karelian Peninsula!

ACCESSORIES

nine0089 Sochi

Sochi is a wonderful place for newlyweds who dream of going to the sea, to the subtropics! Today it is a modern resort with a developed system of hotels and infrastructure. You can stay on the sea coast or in Krasnaya Polyana, at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level. You can go here in summer – to swim, or in winter – to ski. A honeymoon trip to Sochi in September is especially pleasant: the velvet season is wonderful! Sochi is a real paradise for lovers of extreme recreation. In addition, there is something to see here – Agur waterfalls, Mount Akhun, Khosta, Akhtyrskaya and Vorontsov caves. It will not be boring!
nine0005

We offer an engagement duet, as colorful as Sochi with its dark nights and sunny days. The men’s wedding ring is covered with black enamel, the women’s – white, both rings are decorated with natural diamonds. Luxurious and stylish – like modern Sochi itself!

ACCESSORIES

nine0089 Altai

Altai is a mountainous wild land. Probably, this is not the most ideal place for lovers of European comfort, but adventure lovers will definitely like it here! If during your honeymoon you want to live in a real Mongolian yurt, see hundreds of amazingly bright rainbows, go rafting on the Katun, go on a horse ride and recharge with powerful energy, you definitely won’t go wrong by going to the Altai Mountains. It is cold here in winter, but in July, August, September it is just wonderful.
nine0005

We dedicate an engagement duet made of white gold with one diamond to the severe and beautiful Altai Mountains. Its refined aesthetics perfectly conveys the delight that fills the heart at the sight of the Altai dawn and the Katun in a foggy haze.

ACCESSORIES

Kamchatka

A flight to Kamchatka (otherwise you won’t get here) is a very unusual honeymoon trip that you will definitely remember. It seems that here you communicate directly with the planet – the energy of Kamchatka is unique. The harsh land of volcanoes and glaciers will delight you with geysers and hot springs where you can swim, the beauty of lakes and waterfalls. Of course, it is better to visit here in summer or early autumn. Look at the photo of the Putorana Plateau to be inspired by a trip to Kamchatka. Of course, such a holiday is not suitable for everyone – there are many hiking trails.
nine0005

Ascetic and falling in love like Kamchatka, a white gold engagement couple with diamonds can be the perfect accompaniment to your trip. The stones are arranged in a circle – a symbol of the infinity of the cycle of life and your love!

ACCESSORIES

nine0089 Golden Ring of Russia

A ride through the cities of the Golden Ring of Russia is a symbolic beginning of family life! The route includes the most ancient cities of Rus’, where valuable historical monuments have been preserved. The Golden Ring includes Sergiev Posad (including the Trinity-Sergius Lavra of the 15th century), Pereslavl-Zalessky on the shore of Lake Pleshcheyevo, Rostov, which is called the pearl of the Golden Ring, Yaroslavl, founded in 1010, Kostroma with the ancient Ipatiev Monastery, the city brides Ivanovo, Suzdal (the Kremlin was founded in the 10th century) and the golden-domed Vladimir.
nine0005

Each city of the Golden Ring is a priceless treasure of Russian culture. We dedicate a beautiful model with sapphires to this route. Well, the golden crosses on the rim are a reminder of the pearl cities of the Golden Ring, which you should definitely visit!

ACCESSORIES

Kaliningrad

Do you want to know 3 reasons for newlyweds to go on a honeymoon trip to Kaliningrad? Please! There is a sea here, it’s almost Europe, and you probably haven’t been here! And this is even without such a weighty argument as Kant’s grave. Not far from Koenigsberg, as this city used to be called, there are beautiful clean beaches. There are many interesting things in the city itself – the futuristic Museum of the World Ocean, Kant Island, the Amber Museum. Nearby there is the town of Svetlogorsk – very cute, in European style. Perhaps Kaliningrad is the best “European” honeymoon trip in August 2020 – in the context of the coronavirus volatility of air travel.
nine0005

Kaliningrad, with its European spirit, we dedicate a strikingly stylish wedding couple. The men’s ring is made of white gold ribbons, the women’s ring is covered with black and white diamonds. It is impossible to forget this couple – as well as a trip to Koenigsberg.

ACCESSORIES

nine0089 Baikal

Baikal is a real wonder of the world. The Siberian Lake includes the largest fresh water supply on the planet, in addition, it is the deepest in the world and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Baikal is not only amazing wildlife, but also sacred places of power – mysterious caves and rock paintings of the Stone Age. Many newlyweds, coming here, undergo a rite of consecration of the union with a shaman. Boat tours around Lake Baikal are especially impressive, during which you can visit amazing places, hot springs, a hydropathic bath and a bay with stilted trees.
nine0005

A honeymoon trip to Baikal is a truly unforgettable event. A reminder of the beauty of the great lake will be a ring with a sapphire heart surrounded by pavé diamonds. Only it can convey admiration from this amazing land!

ACCESSORIES

Kazan

Oriental beauty Kazan is hospitable, hospitable and fantastic! By the way, this is the third most attractive tourist city in Russia – after Moscow and St. Petersburg. The peaceful coexistence of Eastern and Russian culture, wonderful climate, excellent service in the hotels of the capital of Tatarstan make visiting Kazan comfortable and enjoyable – and what else do you need for a carefree honeymoon! In addition, there are many places in the region where you can swim.
nine0005

Kazan people love and appreciate luxurious jewelry. Surely, they will appreciate a white gold engagement ring with pavé black diamonds, against which round white diamonds shine like bright stars.

ACCESSORIES

Crimea

Crimea is the sea and the sun, and besides, it is a vacation for any budget. A honeymoon trip to Crimea can be truly “five-star”. There are also impressive mountain landscapes and beaches for every taste – with soft sand, pebbles, boulders . .. In August and September it is not only warm, but also very tasty – watermelons and peaches ripen. Yalta, Alushta, Feodosia, Sudak and Sevastopol are ready to offer luxurious hotels for your honeymoon, in addition, there are many attractions that you can visit when you are tired of a beach holiday.
nine0005

A ring that perfectly conveys the “Crimean” mood is this beautiful model with sapphires, rubies, tsavorites. Multi-colored stones on a multi-layered rim are the embodiment of the multi-color and diversity of Crimea, with all the diversity and originality of its culture and traditions.

ACCESSORIES

nine0089 Moscow

Going on a honeymoon trip to the capital of our Motherland is a win-win option. Here you will definitely not be bored! It does not matter whether you have already visited Moscow or are going there for the first time, time after time this city reveals itself from a new side. You can stay in one of the largest world-famous hotels or rent an apartment in the very center – on the noisy Tverskaya or the quiet Malaya Gruzinskaya – Moscow will find something to surprise you with! It’s great that the capital is ready to offer entertainment for every taste. You can visit the iconic places of Moscow, wander through the back streets of the historical center or go to the shining lights of Moscow City, but most importantly, surrounded by thousands of people, feel alone with your loved one!
nine0005

The mood of a big city is perfectly conveyed by an engagement set of two types of gold. Industrial design rings are perfect for the modern couple who don’t like to sit still. The female half of the wedding duet is adorned with diamonds all around.

ACCESSORIES

nine0006
Love conquers everything, and it is not afraid of any difficulties and restrictions associated with the coronavirus. We hope our list will help you find the perfect honeymoon destination in Russia. What we know for sure: you will find your perfect wedding rings at the Palace of Wedding Rings!

Norwich City 1-1 Reading: Canaries fans react to draw

Norwich City fans saw the positives but were left frustrated in the Canaries’ first game after firing head coach Dean Smith.

Adam Idah scored the first goal of the post-Smith era in the 53rd minute, but saw his unerring strike cancelled out by an Andy Carroll penalty in the 82nd.

See some of the best reaction to the game from City fans below.

We had a clear plan of attack and progressed the ball into plenty of dangerous chances.

Better control/decision making from Pukki and we’re 2-0 up at HT and then Sargent had a great chance after Idah’s goal.

Not perfect but much better in general. #NCFC

— Daniel Emery (@DanieIEmery) December 30, 2022

Didn’t deserve that. Good performance. Glimpses in the second half showed the old Norwich. @CityElite_ superb stuff with the atmosphere! This shows if we get the right man in! This squad is capable! Big fan of Allan Russell coming onto the pitch! #ncfc

— Shane🔰 (@Shanefisher993) December 30, 2022

Better intensity & good to see something resembling a plan but not up to the standard required to win games at this level. Dodgy pen or not we should have seen that out comfortably against a side offering very little #ncfc

— Chris Meadows 🇺🇦 (@meds89) December 30, 2022

Much improved. Although the reff was terrible and soft, our boys weren’t. Tactical fouls finally been taught to them. Walked away feel robbed, but a good performance #ncfc

— Earland🔰🇦🇷 (@aearland14ncfc) December 30, 2022

I think the ones complaining need to realise its not going to change over night. The caretaker managers have been in charge for 3 days. The most important thing is that there was an improvement. #ncfc

— Anna say (@Anna_say25) December 30, 2022

Better already, were never gonna fix that Dean Smith mess overnight. Reading didn’t create anything and we looked a lot more together on and off the pitch again. #ncfc

— Curtis Pope (@Curtiss_Pope) December 30, 2022

Some nice bits, but overall a little lacking. Thought Sara showed some spice in the second half. Needs Gibbs imo #ncfc

— Rob Pechey (@PecheyYellow) December 30, 2022

Well it was better, I wasn’t expecting miracles but I thought we deserved to win that #ncfc

— James Flett (@thecraftyjoiner) December 30, 2022

Much improved game and atmosphere! Love Allan Russell clapping the fans in the centre circle at full time. That’s what I want to see. Passion and appreciation! #ncfc #canarycall 💛💚

— Lucy Cross (@Lucyyyyy5) December 30, 2022

1-0 up you’ve got to kick on and see the game out though. We had spells but that’s all they were. Still a glaring lack of quality on show. #ncfc

— Ben (@BenM3011) December 30, 2022

We have to get to a point where we’re not relying on Dowell and Hernandez to change a game. Crying out for a creative midfielder and a wing option who can actually create something. #ncfc

— Jonathan parker (@Jparker7398) December 30, 2022

Worrying times when leaving Carrow road and people say well they tried hard. That’s literally the bare minimum we should expect #ncfc

— Melissa Hanner (@melissa_hanner) December 30, 2022

Ultimately we’ve paid a big price for holding onto Dean Smith for 8 weeks too long. Massive damage done to this group. #ncfc

— Tom (@splutcho) December 30, 2022

Not sure the ref covered himself in glory with those two penalty decisions. A soft one given for Reading and a more obvious shove in the back on Pukki denied. But on the positive side at least Norwich played with a bit more verve and purpose than we’ve seen recently. #ncfc #otbc

— Roger Farrant (@roger_farrant) December 30, 2022

What an awful refereeing performance. #ncfc

— phoebe (@langerz9) December 30, 2022

Was it really better? Perhaps not playing in a toxic atmosphere gave the players a slight lift but we looked pretty average. #ncfc

— Michael Brigham 💛💚 (@briglar) December 30, 2022

Could’ve won that won if it wasn’t for an extremely poor officiating display. Overall, a much more improved performance but still some worrying signs like the defending that still needs work. That’s why Webber really has to get this next managerial appointment right #ncfc

We get a visa to Spain in December

Most tourists are concerned about the cost of a Schengen visa to Spain in connection with choosing a place for a summer holiday. But even in winter there is something to do in the kingdom. December is the time when traditionally interest in traveling to the kingdom increases again after the fall in demand associated with the end of the summer season. What awaits the guests of the country in the first winter month?

First of all, many tourists from Russia will note very favorable weather conditions in December Spain, especially compared to those observed in their homeland. In the southern part of the kingdom, the air temperature will not drop below 15-17 degrees with a plus sign, in the north and center it will be somewhat cooler – within +13 degrees. However, you should not neglect warm clothes – frosts are possible in the mornings. There will most likely be no snow, and instead, rain will diversify the Christmas weather. nine0003

If you want warmth even in December, you can safely ask about the cost of a Schengen visa to Spain and go to the Canary Islands. Even in December it will most likely not be colder than +20 degrees. And the most seasoned will be able to plunge into the sea, the temperature of which at this time of the year is +17 degrees in the Canary Islands.

Of course, not only the weather attracts thousands of tourists to Spain in December. First of all, they arrive in the kingdom in anticipation of Christmas entertainment. But even in addition to the festive program, a lot of interesting things await them. nine0003

You already have a visa for Spain.

What entertainment will the kingdom offer this December?

An eventful life awaits those who choose Madrid for their December vacation. On December 2, a Glasvegas concert is scheduled here. During the whole month it will be possible to visit the exposition called “Surrealism and Dream”. It will be presented by the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum. On December 5, the Imagine Dragons concert will be organized, which is also expected to attract the attention of residents and visitors to the city. nine0003

And in December of this year, as well as in other months, it makes sense to go to Barcelona for football fans. On December 11, a match between Barcelona and Celtic is scheduled here. Fans of photography will be able to visit the World Press Photo exhibition, which will be held in the Catalan capital from 5 to 8 December.

Of course, the biggest event of December in Spain will be Christmas, which is celebrated here on the 25th. A festive mood will accompany the guests of the kingdom throughout the first winter month. And in every city there will certainly be a belen, and most likely, more than one. This is a composition depicting the biblical scenes of the birth of Christ, which in Spain are installed in the squares, as well as in shop windows. nine0003

If, of course, everyone who pays the cost of a Schengen visa to Spain in December is aware of Christmas, not every tourist knows about the Day of Saints and Simpletons. It is celebrated in the same way as April 1 in our country – on this day it is customary in the kingdom to make fun of each other. Often, even major media and TV channels take part in the creation of funny pranks, broadcasting outright “ducks”. And there are gullible Spaniards who manage to be deceived! So there is no doubt: in December in Spain you can relax, expand your cultural horizons, and have fun! nine0003

Nature has no bad weather

Details

Autumn has come. For many Volgograd residents, it sometimes causes spleen and a bad mood. However, do not despair! Thanks to the achievements of progress, we, the inhabitants of the 21st century, do not have to overcome several hundred thousand kilometers and find ourselves on the other side of the globe, in a sunny summer. And the travel manager Natalya Kunitsyna will tell the readers of Gorvesti what country in the world is best to go to in different months of the year. nine0003

Velvet season

So, let’s start with the current month – October.

– Guaranteed sunny weather and warm water + 27-30 degrees await tourists in Thailand, the Dominican Republic, Cuba and the Caribbean, India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, China, Vietnam, – recommends Natalia. – The exhausting heat has already subsided in Egypt – the velvet season has come there, which the Egyptians themselves value so much, in Israel, the Maldives and Cyprus. You can still capture the last summer sun for lovers of a cool holiday in the Canary Islands, but in Turkey, most likely, you will not be able to swim. nine0003

In November and December, warm weather and optimal water temperature continue to remain in Thailand, the Dominican Republic, on about. Hainan in China, Goa in India, Cuba, Caribbean, Mauritius and Maldives, Vietnam and Malaysia. Cool weather can be established in the Canary Islands, in Israeli Eilat and, depending on the specific year, in Egypt.

Favorite holiday

– If you prefer to celebrate the New Year, basking on the sand under palm trees, it is better to choose the same Caribbean, India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Vietnam, Maldives, – advises Kunitsyna. In Europe, in recent years, winter weather has been unstable and you can get into snowfalls, freezing rains, and squally winds. nine0003

In February, the winter is already rather tired and again I want a warm sun. Where to go this month?

– For a holiday in February, it is better to choose the countries of Southeast Asia: Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, – informs the tour manager. – The weather continues to be cool in Egypt, the Canary Islands and Israel. It is comfortable in the Emirates at this time of the year, the air temperature is +25-27, but you most likely will not be able to swim, the water is +20.

Hooray, spring! nine0022

In March and April, you can safely move to all the previously listed countries recommended for recreation. Comfortable in Egypt, the Canary Islands, Israel. In addition, feel free to go to the United Arab Emirates – the most favorable season for swimming has come there.

– In May, guaranteed warm weather and water in Thailand, the Dominican Republic, Cuba and the Caribbean, – continues Natalia. – But in Crete, Cyprus and Turkey it can still be cool.

Summer, oh summer! nine0022

Of course, the weather is fine in Volgograd in the summer, there are many places for recreation and swimming. But the tradition that has been established by more than one generation to take vacations in the summer makes Volgograd residents look for entertainment in another part of the world.

— In June I recommend going on vacation to Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Italy, Tunisia, Malta. In July, it is already warm on the entire Mediterranean coast, except for Portugal. However, at this time of the year, you should refrain from traveling to Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, the Maldives, and India. Uncomfortable in July-August in Turkey and Southeast Asia. nine0003

11 Best Winter Sun Travel Destinations – Hot Fall and Winter Holiday Destinations

With the winter months fast approaching and the holidays on the horizon, we’re looking ahead to what warm weather destinations will provide just the right type of escape this coming jet-set season. Whether you’re after a lazy beach getaway, a zen sanctuary, a once-in-a-lifetime experience, a vibrant city or a honeymoon haven, we’ve got you covered. From foolproof go-to’s to some of the world’s best kept secrets, here are our top 11 picks for where to seek the sun this winter.

1

Koh Samui, Thailand

The Thai Islands are the ultimate destination for sun seekers looking for a departure from the standard Caribbean getaway. Each island’s unique personality speaks to the needs of a different traveller, but for first-timers, honeymooners, families, beach bunnies and laid-back yogis, Koh Samui should be at the top of your list–especially if you’re after a luxury resort to boot. The weather in Thailand is warmest from March-May, and unlike the windy, Caribbean heat, this type of overwhelming humidity is best avoided, making winter a great time to visit. Drop dead gorgeous landscapes, endless tourist activities, a laid-back vibe, natural wonders and lush jungles paired with crystal-clear beaches and top-notch resorts leave visitors with little to be desired, and those looking to pair a beach getaway with a yoga retreat are in luck–the island is home to one of the world’s best destination spas, Kamalaya.

2

Zanzibar, Tanzania

If you are after a beach destination with added adventure, Zanzibar, an archipelago off the coast of East Africa in the Indian Ocean should tick all the boxes. The beaches here are some of the best you’ll ever see, and the ability to tack this trip on after a more active safari jaunt in the Serengeti is a plus. Its capital and largest city, Zanzibar City, is located on Unguja, the main island of the archipelago, and is home to Stone Town, a UNESCO heritage site and the city’s historic old town. An untouched hub of Swahili culture, Stone Town is not only home to the best markets, museums, gardens, beaches and cultural sites, but also to the region’s top luxury hotels–like the Park Hyatt Zanzibar, situated on a pristine stretch of beach in the heart of Stone Town.

3

St. Lucia

While St. Maarten, St. Barths, St. Vincent & The Grenadines and St. Thomas are all unbelievable options for those looking to escape low temperatures, St. Lucia has risen to the top of the list for those looking to take a quick trip from the East Coast or delve deeper than an all inclusive resort. Luxury resorts abound, but St. Lucia’s unique culture and natural attractions set it apart. The Pitons, or the lush jungle covered mountains that span the island, are a challenging hike for active travelers and stunning to behold from the water as well. On weekends, authentic St. Lucian culture and Caribbean cuisine are best experienced at one of the two street festivals that take place each Friday night. During the day, a visit to the Sulpher Springs are an all-natural way to decompress; one dip in the natural hot springs and mud baths and you’ll likely relate to the culture’s affinity for holistic and natural remedies. As for where to stay, Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort is at the top of our list–its design, decor, food, service and spa are second to none. Just a ten minute water taxi away from Sugar Beach, Jade Mountain is considered to be one of the island’s best properties, featuring open-air suites that are all ocean-facing. Kim & Kanye escaped to Jade Mountain for their babymoon before having North–our guess is that they likely spent most of their time taking in the view from their private plunge pool.

Ambergris Caye, Belize

With bright blue waters and candy-colored skies, this is the perfect beachside escape for those looking to go off the grid and relax. Downtown San Pedro houses brightly colored shops full of rum tastings and rich chocolate treats, that serve as the perfect way to spend an afternoon. Transportation is made up of bikes and golf carts with hardly a car in site, making you feel as though you’ve been transported to times of the past. Snorkeling and diving excursions are a must, with breathtaking waters and marine life wonders like Shark’s Ray Alley just a boat ride away. With resorts like Las Terrazas situated along the beach and just a few minutes from town, you are able to have the perfect combination of resort oasis and island living.

5

Cartageña, Colombia

A vibrant cultural scene, inspiring old city and Caribbean beaches are only some of the reasons to book a trip to Cartageña. Best known for its Colonial architecture in the boldest of hues, a rich culinary scene and a city-meets-beach allure, this city’s proud population bursting with an authentic zest for life (one that’s hard to come by as a tourist)–sets Cartageña apart. You cannot leave Colombia without enjoying some ceviche, and El Boliche Cebicheria is said to be one of the best spots for inventive versions that retain the spirit of the dish’s roots. Take a day trip to Santa Marta, one of the best beaches on this side of the world, and make sure to dedicate ample time to exploring the historic old city on foot. When you’re deciding where to stay, you’ll have plenty of boutique options to choose from, like Casa del Coliseo, Casa Pombo or Casablanca B&B. If you’re after a larger, luxury resort, the Sofitel in Santa Clara will not disappoint.

6

Marrakech, Morroco

Breathtaking architecture, luxurious riads and some of the best open-air markets in the world put Marrakech on the top of our list for this year’s jet set. Impressive renovations, like the recent re-opening of Royal Mansour, and new hotels like the Sofitel have been popping up throughout the city, joining the ranks of the area’s already long list of luxury offerings. With desert tours and camel rides to explore, lush gardens and museums to frequent, cultural sites to see, museums to visit and days spent by the pool and leisurely shopping through the souks, Morocco is a culture-rich alternative for any traveler looking for far more than a beachfront resort.

7

Oahu, Hawaii

Getty Images

A vacation to Hawaii…groundbreaking. We know this idea isn’t the most original, and there’s reason for that–it’s possibly one of the best beach destinations on the planet. While the location may not be original, our recommendation to head to the North Shore and experience Oahu and Waikiki over the ever-popular Maui and Lanai may just be. The surf on the North Shore will immediately draw you in, and you may find it tough to break away from the beach to explore all the shopping, restaurants and nightlife the region as to offer. Make sure you cool off with some shaved ice–Matsumoto and The Local are the area’s best spots for this fro-yo alternative. When dining out, anything that takes advantage of the islands’ seafood is a must, like traditional poke dishes or sushi at Nobu or Banzai.

8

Turks & Caicos

White sand beaches, crystal-clear water that seems to go on forever and unbelievable weather make Turks & Caicos a no-brainer in the winter months. Must-see resorts line the beaches of Providenciales, the most populated of the islands; Parrot Cay by COMO is ideal for those looking for a zen sanctuary, Amanyara suits the travelers looking for the ultimate in luxury and The Palms is perfect for those looking for a chic getaway that’s also suitable for a family trip. If you’re looking to experience the island like a local, opt for a villa rental–Provo is home to Villa Balinese, one of the most stunning luxury rentals in the Caribbean. Turks & Caicos is not a foodie destination, as most of the ingredients on the islands are imported, but while you’re in the area, you won’t regret booking a dinner at Parallel 23 at The Palms or Infiniti in the Grace Bay Club. For a fun day activity, scuba diving to view the coral reefs up close is a must, as is horseback riding in the ocean via Provo Ponies, the area’s most well-respected stable.

9

Langkawi, Malaysia

For those considering Bali or Phuket (and who wouldn’t? They’re amazing in their own rights), Malaysia should also be on your radar for a vacation that’s a bit less expected. A hidden gem that houses Kilim Karst Geoforest Park, Southeast Asia’s first UNESCO Geopark, Langkawi is the getaway for those looking to explore and stay active while also enjoying otherwordly beaches. The best hotel on the island is undoubtedly the Four Seasons Resort Langkawi, where all suites either encompass a full floor of a villa, or are full villas in and of themselves. The island’s top properties, like the Four Seasons the Bon Ton Resort and are home to some of Langkawi’s best restaurants, where foodies will feel right at home. After a day touring the geoparks and caves or partaking in water sports, head to the night markets for dinner. Sampling all the local fare straight from the stalls is a next-level food experience.

10

Los Angeles, California

You don’t need to travel all the way across the world to seek the heat this winter–Los Angeles may just be one of the country’s most underrated tourist destinations, with everything from amazing dining options, beautiful beaches, luxurious hotels and shopping to suit the most discerning fashion girl in droves. For a low-key beach trip, a stay at Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica is the way to go. The Sunset Tower in West Hollywood is iconic and places you near some of the city’s best shopping. For the ultimate in A-list experiences, there’s no better place to rest your head than the Chateau Marmont. You’ll be hard pressed to fit all the amazing restaurants in L. A. into your schedule, but meals at Sugarfish, The Nice Guy, Tar & Roses, Gracias Madre, Gwen, Gjelina, Squirl and the newly-opened Delilah are not to be missed (and that’s just to name a few).

11

Goa, India

Another unexpected alternative for those thinking about heading to Bali, Thailand or the Philippines, Goa is a once-in-a-lifetime trip just an hour-long flight south of Mumbai. Laid-back beaches, ancient temples and an emerging food scene combine with India’s vibrant colors and traditions for a culture-rich beach escape that’s undeniably unforgettable. When deciding where to stay, consider the haute villa properties, like Coco Shambhala or Alila Diwa Goa, rather than heading straight for the five-star resorts–although those aren’t too bad, either. To fully experience Goa, don’t stay solely on the coast–head inland to experience the spice markets, tour the temples and shop the local markets.

15 best winter sun destinations

The memories of summer sunshine are becoming a distant haze, and the grey dismal days of winter can leave you pining for a warm glow on your skin. If you’re after a day without knits, a cocktail by the pool or an opportunity to wear your favourite sun dress, then you need to know the best winter sun destinations.

Here I share my best places for winter sun including European and international destinations. Say goodbye to the cold and rain, and hello to blue skies and sunshine!

This post contains affiliate links.

1. The Maldives

Without a doubt, one of the best places for winter sun is The Maldives. It may be long haul from London, but for a good length sunny holiday during the UK’s winter, The Maldives ticks all the right boxes.

Expect picture perfect bright blue seas, luxury ocean lodges and water sports galore. The Maldives caters for winter sun seekers exceptionally well, especially the more discerning traveller.

Hotels in the Maldives are typically boutique, focusing on exceptional service and unique touches. Relaxation will be the name of the game. If you want to step outside your resort, there are wonderful cultural attractions to discover, including Male markets.

2. Canary Islands

The Canary Islands is one of the best winter sun destinations from the UK as you can be there in around four hours. From Tenerife to Gran Canaria, there is an island to suit everyone.

Found off the coast of West Africa, the Spanish culture here ensures you feel a million miles from home for a restorative break.

When you visit the Canary Islands, you can choose exactly the type of break you’re looking for. Whether you want a few days chilling by the pool with a book or want to do excursions, there’s something for everyone.

You can expect it to be a just-perfect 24 degrees Celsius in December. So not too hot, but much better than the chillier temperatures of a UK winter.

3. South Africa

Winter sun holiday destinations don’t get much more exciting than a trip to South Africa. Right down in the southern hemisphere, South Africa is perfect for a UK winter month’s visit.

There are so many different options for holidays in South Africa. Enjoy a Big 5 safari in Kruger National Park, hike in the Drakensberg Mountains, or the winelands near Cape Town before embarking on the beautiful Garden Route.

I recommend trying to combine them all, to really make the most of your trip.

4. Zanzibar

The best place for winter sun, when you want a truly unique and memorable holiday, is Zanzibar. Just off the coast of Tanzania, Zanzibar is a rich cultural melting pot which will leave its mark on your heart.

There is so much to do for cultural experiences on the spice island But there are also ample beach resorts where you can simply unwind in beautiful tropical surroundings.

Zanzibar Old Town is great to explore, but you can also enjoy cocktails on the beach. It’s also possible to island hop to places such as Pemba for a remote getaway.

Find hotels in Zanzibar.

5. Thailand

Anyone who follows my adventures on Instagram and here on my blog knows my deep love affair with Thailand. Thailand offers so much for all travellers and is, in my opinion, one of my favourite winter sun destinations.

In Bangkok you can enjoy street food, the hustle and bustle of a booming Asian city, and see top sights like the Grand Palace and floating markets.

I recommend you head to Southern Thailand for beach escapes and also jungle experiences in national parks. I particularly recommend visiting Khao Sok National Park or staying in Krabi. Plus, don’t miss out on a trip to the popular Phi Phi Islands.

There is huge choice when it comes to luxury hotels in Thailand so you can be sure of utter indulgence on your Thai holiday.

6. St Lucia

When you are wondering where to go for winter sun, you’ll of course think of the Caribbean. St Lucia is a great option for Caribbean travel with good UK connections.

Here you’ll find everything you expect of a lush Caribbean island, from jungle excursions to rum cocktails on the beach.

7. Dubai

Dubai is, of course, one of the best countries for winter sun. The UK winter is a great time to visit if you don’t want it to be as scorching hot as it is in summer. Around a six hour flight time from London, Dubai is the ultimate luxury winter sun destination.

Expect world-class resorts with outstanding service, wonderful experiences exploring souks and bazaars, and adventures out in the desert dunes.

Browse hotels in Dubai.

8. Mexico

Mexico is one of the top winter sun destinations for Brits and Americans alike. Close to the equator, there’s near guaranteed good weather during the northern hemisphere’s winter months.

Mexico offers a fantastic array of choice when it comes to holidays. You can enjoy a tropical feel beach resort, with many all-inclusive options available. Two centre stays are also popular, whether you want to add in a city or a jungle experience.

9.

Bali

Bali is a tropical island paradise that’s a much adored winter sun destination. If sipping from a coconut on the beach before moseying into the spa for a blissful massage is your kind of holiday then Bali is for you.

Balinese service is outstanding and you’ll be made to feel welcome at every turn. If you’d like to explore outside of the resort then Bali has unique experiences from temple visits to wildlife safaris.

Bali is a perfect luxury winter sun destination where you can be sure of incredible food too. Discover hotels in Bali.

10. Cape Verde

If the Canary Islands aren’t quite warm enough, and you’re looking for greater heat, then head further south to Cape Verde where temperatures will be pleasant but a little higher.

Another volcanic collection of islands, there’s a distinctive Portuguese feel and it’ll take you around six hours to get here from the UK.

In Cape Verde, your winter sun holiday can be quite diverse. Climb volcanoes, enjoy the beach or visit stunning caves.

11. Cyprus

If you’re looking for winter sun in Europe, you can’t go wrong with a visit to Cyprus. Indeed, I would argue that Cyprus is one of the best places for winter sun in Europe because it’s nearly guaranteed.

Visiting Cyprus in the summer can actually be too hot, but in the winter months you can expect some balmy sunshine that’s still warm enough for sipping drinks by the pool and taking the occasional dip.

Depending on your resort, there are usually good water sports too. Not everything and everywhere is open in the winter season, so do check that your resort has everything that you need and expect from a winter sun destination.

12. Australia

Like with South Africa, zip down to the southern hemisphere for the best chance of winter sun with a visit to Australia. A trip to Australia is best planned for UK winter months when you can expect better weather, especially in more seasonal destinations like Melbourne.

The land of kangaroos and didgeridoos has so much to offer. Explore vibrant cities like Perth or Sydney. Hunt for crocs and explore jungles around Darwin and the Northern Territory. Dive and enjoy beach holidays at The Great Barrier Reef. Enjoy a road trip through the Blue Mountains or along The Great Ocean Road.

Australia is vast and has so much to experience and do, all while enjoying some sun!

13. Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka, off the southern coast of India, offers a unique winter sun holiday destination. For a cultural fix that will ignite your senses, it’s harder to do better than Sri Lanka. A land of temples and elephants, there’s so much diversity of experience.

More and more luxury hotels and resorts are becoming the norm in Sri Lanka. So much so that it’s gaining a reputation as one of the best luxury travel destinations

A winter sun travel itinerary in Sri Lanka will take some planning to include everything from market experiences to spotting monkeys, but it’s a destination you’ll never forget.

14. Bora Bora

Not just a honeymoon destination, Bora Bora is one of the best destinations for winter sun. Expect exclusive resorts with unrivalled service. The food here is typically seafood heavy with understated flair.

Your lazy days can be spent dipping into clear blue seas, perhaps going for a leisurely snorkel and marvelling at the underwater life.

Your flight to Bora Bora from the UK is quite long, so it’s worth visiting for at least a week. Besides, as a tropical ocean destination, you won’t want to leave in a hurry.

15. Costa Rica

Costa Rica is one of the winter sun destinations that absolutely should be on your bucket list. Stay in a treehouse and listen to parrots (and spy them in the trees!). Enjoy adventurous activities like zip lining through the jungle.

In Costa Rica you can also experience varied and colourful wildlife and plants in a way that is exotic and beguiling. Then of course, there are beaches which are some of the best in the world.

Costa Rica was once the preserve of backpackers, but increasingly luxury resorts with a focus on eco-credentials are gaining traction. This makes it a perfect place to enjoy some winter sun.

There’s so much choice when it comes to the best winter sun destinations. Get imaginative and get the dazzle of sun on your skin.

Egypt

There are places on our big planet where the period of the year “winter” is not at all like our snowy, cold cold. Egyptian winter with sun and warmth comes in early December. In winter, you can continue to swim in one of the seas (Red, Mediterranean) surrounding the country, located on two continents at the same time. Summer in Egypt is very hot, and therefore it is better to plan a vacation for a “cool” time (despite the fact that you can go here at any time).

Every year, the popularity of Christmas trips to visit the Egyptian pyramids, the cities of Giza, Cairo, Suen, Alexandria, Luxor is growing. Christmas tours must be planned in advance. Seychelles

The winter period in the Seychelles lasts from December to February. But this winter is more like our very warm autumn. The temperature on the islands is about 27 all year round. Only warm torrential rains can darken the trip a little. Sun and rain can exist on the beach at the same time. Arriving with children, one must take this effect into account and make it a rule to use the conditions of the pools located in modern hotels. Unlike the Maldives, trips with excursions to different islands that are part of the archipelago are often offered here. nine0003

This is due to their origin from granite and a greater degree of habitation. It is difficult to make sightseeing walks through the beautiful jungle during this rainy period with small children. The main attraction of the Seychelles is their pristine nature. Local beaches are good in any weather: rocky, sandy, snow-white, pink, washed by gentle waves, allow you to spend a relaxing vacation here. At the same time, huge turtles calmly walking nearby will cause extraordinary delight. nine0003

Miami

The maximum number of tourists come during the velvet season to the main resort of Florida (Miami Beach). Warm but not hot. Dry air, a small refreshing breeze, calm warm sea. It is hard to imagine that the resorts lack at least some of the well-known entertainment offers. A sunny paradise for children at any time of the year fully embraces all the fantasies and desires of big and small travelers. The number of man-made attractions in Miami is hard to list. nine0003

Among them are the Miami Metrozoo wildlife parks, exotic plants, the Miami Seaquarium, the jungle of parrots, monkeys, the most beautiful pool in the world (Venetian), an open-air museum. No more than twenty minutes drive from the Moscow Ring Road, and you will find yourself in a real palace complex, which is sometimes called the Versailles of the Moscow Region. The estate was built in the style of classicism; it has had several eminent owners since the 17th century. Pushkin and other great people have been here. Even in cold weather, it is pleasant to take a walk here, admiring the unique architecture, well-groomed parks, memorial columns in honor of emperors, and numerous sculptures. You can go to the “Tea House” and “Temple-Monument to Catherine II”, there is a functioning church dedicated to the Archangel Michael. The most interesting historical expositions are presented in museums, painting exhibitions and musical concerts are also held here. nine0003

A rich collection of paintings by authors from Western Europe is located in the Gonzaga Theatre, built at the beginning of the 19th century. It was collected by the philanthropist Yusupov, there are masterpieces of the 16th century, works by artists of the Venetian direction and the school of Paolo Veronese. The rarest sculptures of the masters have an ancient history; exhibits of the 7th century BC are presented. BC, medieval statues, there are also works of the early twentieth century. A wide exposition of decorative items will attract the attention of anyone – bronzes, antique furniture, porcelain, watches. A huge fund of the rarest books includes editions of the 16th-19th centuries. nine0004

New Jerusalem

Thinking about where to go on a weekend from Moscow in winter, you can opt for New Jerusalem. This is a huge museum complex, next to which is the famous monastery. Located 70 kilometers from the Moscow Ring Road in the city of Istra. Exhibitions of various directions are presented on ten thousand square meters. They are dedicated to the development of the entire region from the earliest times. In 2018, residents of the Moscow region recognized it as their favorite center dedicated to history. The collections include archeological finds, weapons, unique icons, books, works of art by ancient and modern authors, antique items. nine0003

A separate exposition is dedicated to the New Jerusalem Monastery and its founder, abbot Nikon. The complex is a rare monument of architecture and spiritual culture. Monastery skete and chapel built in the 18th century. located on the territory of the museum. Here you can also visit an old peasant estate, see an ancient stable and a windmill. The permanent exhibition “Native Art” will introduce you to samples of art and icon painting created in the 16th-20th centuries, it also includes household and church items, silverware made by 17th-century masters who decorated the Kremlin chambers. nine0004

Prioksko-Terrasny Nature Reserve

Many people dream of taking a car trip from Moscow to the forest in winter to take a walk in the fresh invigorating air, get a boost of energy and improve their health. The most interesting option would be the reserve, which is located 80 kilometers from the Moscow Ring Road and is the only one in the region. Beautiful views will open from the first minutes, the green area is located on the banks of the Oka. The main attraction is representatives of flora and fauna, about 60 species of rare mammals and more than 140 species of birds live here. Many people dream of seeing bison, because there are very few of them left on the planet, and it will be possible to do this on the territory of the nursery. You can meet squirrels, badgers, deer, martens and other animals, enjoy the singing of birds or the pristine silence. With children, it is worth visiting the “Tree-House” – a park where game excursions are held that tell about the life of animals, birds, insects, and plants. Leshy’s hut is a great place to warm up, take part in a master class or other exciting event. nine0004

Syanovskie caves

Many people have never even heard of this object, but if you are thinking about where to go by car during the New Year holidays, consider an unusual option. The distance from the capital is 15 kilometers, so close that you can rent a cabriolet and enjoy the fresh air. Having overcome the distance, you will find yourself in quarries created artificially underground. This is a unique world, the entrance to which is located near the village of Starosyanovo.

Caves attract guests from many cities, a picturesque place on the banks of Pakhra allows you to take beautiful photos. But the main thing is not this. Once inside through the hole “Cat’s hole”, you will find yourself in a cool twilight kingdom, where limestone was mined during the construction of ancient Moscow. There are tunnels, rooms, a private church with frescoes, a disco grotto, a playground with swings, labyrinths, painted walls and much more. If you’re lucky, you’ll see a ghost, but you’re more likely to meet funny diggers. For the first time, you should use the services of a guide so as not to get lost. You need to dress warmly, equip yourself with a helmet and knee pads, take flashlights, water, a small supply of food. Extreme lovers spend several days here, almost a thousand people gather to celebrate the New Year. nine0004

Borodino field

Another “must have” of a cultured person. You will have to overcome 120 kilometers from the Mother See to the famous village of Borodino. Surely you have already seen the panorama, now you have to walk through the vast terrain on foot. You have to be a historian to do the research yourself, so it’s best to book a guided tour. The monuments are far from each other, the field is an open-air museum. The legendary battle is reproduced in its entirety, do not forget that the line of defense of the capital immediately stretched at the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. You will see more than fifty military monuments, exhibits, places described in “War and Peace”, the Hodegetria Orthodox Church, obelisks dedicated to the memory of the dead and much more. There is a lot of walking, so you need to dress warmly, take a thermos and be patient. Impressions and new knowledge are worth it to make your own small “feat”. nine0004

Malevich Park

The park is located in the Odintsovo city district, and if you rent a car, you can easily get here within an hour. Everyone is curious to get acquainted with a new project opened in 2020 in spite of the pandemic. It was planned in the style of the famous enigmatic artist, everywhere visitors are delighted with geometric shapes: squares, rectangles, triangles, circles… The entrance is through the sculpture, and guests immediately fall into a mirror cube, where it is difficult to distinguish fantasy from reality. “Infinity of the Horizon” captures from the first minutes, and after that it is difficult to escape from the feeling that you are in a fantasy world of ideal lines, proportions, shapes. nine0004

The ruins of an old mill

Fans of exclusivity should go to Yuryatino to see the historical object of the 19th century alive before it completely collapsed. Suitable for those who have already seen the main sights of the Moscow region and are eager for new vivid impressions. And emotions will not keep you waiting, the ruins look grandiose, reach four meters in height, have solid walls that cannot be disassembled brick by brick. They laid them using an old “recipe” on a solution of chicken eggs. At one time, the mill, which belonged to a local merchant, served the entire county, and during the Second World War, a strategic facility was located here, which the fighters bravely defended, after the 50s the building fell into disrepair. Today it is a historical value, where excursions are made. nine0004

Mozhaisk

Those who want to explore beautiful cities in winter near Moscow should go to Mozhaisk. 90 kilometers separate it from the Moscow Ring Road – a little over an hour’s drive. The place is unique, the history dates back to the XIII century, at least a few sights are worth visiting. Fans of antiquities will love the Mozhayskoye Settlement, a monument that has been preserved since 700 BC. Many guests start their tour from the Kremlin, which is located in the center. The fortress was built in the 16th century, later it was restored, surrounded by an earthen rampart, necessary for defense. Today, little has survived: cathedrals, a bridge, a chapel, a spring lake. The ancient building can only be seen on the layout. nine0003

Novo-Nikolsky Cathedral was built in the 15th century – this is the few that survived on the territory of the Kremlin. The temple was restored, later rebuilt in neo-Gothic style. Today it is decorated with a bell tower with a spire, domes with unusual turrets, ancient gates. While it does not work, the restoration work is not completed.

The Peter and Paul Cathedral is another historical value that deserves attention, which is part of the Kremlin. For the first time the temple was built in the XII century from wood, two centuries later stone walls were built. The greatest destruction occurred in the war of 1812, but local residents raised funds and tried to restore it. The building was finally rebuilt by the end of the 19th century. During the period of Bolshevism, there was a museum here. Today services are not conducted, but you can get on a tour. nine0003

Among the active Orthodox shrines is the Luzhetsky Monastery, where divine services are held, you can attend the liturgy, submit notes. It was founded in 1408 by St. Ferapont, was destroyed and rebuilt several times. Today there is a complex of churches. Since the 16th century, the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin and the Vvedenskaya Church have been preserved, later buildings are the Church of the Transfiguration, the rector’s building, cell structures, and a fence. There is a healing spring and fonts where believers take a dip. nine0004

Lily Brik’s stone

If you love Mayakovsky’s work and are well acquainted with his biography, then you will definitely go to the forest edge near Zvenigorod. The letters L. Yu. B., symbolizing “I love” were on the ring of the beloved. Today they are engraved on a huge stone, over which the ashes of the poet’s muse were scattered in 1979.

Zooferma Shikhovo

You have to drive 35 kilometers, so you can rent a car in Moscow on the same day. Beautiful quiet place, open for walks at any time of the year. You can have fun and find activities to your liking. In winter, they communicate with huskies, look at the dwellings of beavers and deer, take pictures near wooden houses. Often fun events are held, dances or historical excursions are arranged. If desired, you can take home a thoroughbred puppy. nine0004

Pushchino waterfall

Usually the water beckons in the summer, but for lovers of the unusual, winter is also perfect, because the waterfall does not freeze in the cold. It is worth going not only for the sake of natural attractions. On the way you will find the Pushchino settlement, the ancient manor of the Vyazemsky masters, the Church of St. Nicholas of the Archangel. Walking around historical sites, taking spectacular photos, you will find yourself at a two-meter “brook” with which interesting legends are associated. It falls from a karst well, so the place is full of mystery and romance. nine0004

Dubna chair

If you want to see the largest chair in Russia, go to the city of Dubna. The grandiose wooden object deserves a separate visit. Created a masterpiece of furniture art in 2004, it exactly repeats the model of the local factory. The height of the building is more than nine meters, the seating area is fourteen square meters. A hundred people can accommodate with relative comfort, but few dare to experiment, because because of the size, the four-legged giant is included in the Book of Records. By the way, since you are in the city, take a look at another huge monument. It is dedicated to Lenin, reaches 37 meters, “decorates” the Ivankovskoye reservoir. If the leader does not cause positive emotions, take a walk in the park of ancient thujas, the mood will definitely improve. nine0004

Castle of mysticism

Entire excursions come here. If you gather 7-9 lovers of thrillers and mysticism, rent a minivan and get ready for exciting emotions. There is a “monster” not far from Balashikha. It was built by the engineer and “storyteller” Alexander Puzanov. The creepy project, as it is now fashionable, was created from materials picked up at landfills, at points where metal is accepted. For ten years, the master worked tirelessly, building a nightmarish castle. The building is amazing inside and out. You will see beds that swing on chains, ladders assembled from gears, a spider climbing through a window, a bath in the form of a sarcophagus and many other interesting things. They say that werewolves and ghosts are a dime a dozen, so for the sake of completeness, come when it’s dark and the blizzard howls. nine0003

So, you have probably already decided where to go in winter by car from Moscow. RentRide will be happy to rent a car of the required format at the best price. A huge selection and a convenient booking form will allow you to determine the right model in a matter of minutes and order it for the desired period. Use car rental services and enjoy your travels!

Making The Most Of A Week In Lanzarote In October

My whole life I had dreamt of visiting the Canary Islands. Growing up in Spain, a lot of my friends would go for a week to Lanzarote or Gran Canaria during the holidays but not us. I am not complaining, as we did other cool stuff instead, but the desire to visit the Islands off the coast of Africa persisted. It only took me 28 years! to finally make that childhood dream a reality, and let me tell you, it was well worth the wait. Lanzarote, the island of my choice, was what I hoped for all those years, and much more.

The Canary Islands don’t really have a proper off-season. With a mere 6 days of rain per year average, the weather is fairly stable all year round. However, after weeks of research and planning, I found out that visiting Lanzarote in October would the closest I would get to low season in Lanzarote.

I only had a week in Lanzarote, which meant I had to make the most of the time there. To do so I came up with this itinerary of things to do in Lanzarote. Should we get started?

Content

How to get to Lanzarote

Lanzarote can be reached by boat from Cadiz, though not recommended unless you enjoy a long potentially bumpy ride, and by plane to Arrecife via many major European cities. Some of the main airlines regularly covering the route to Lanzarote from mainland Europe are TUI, Thomas Cook, Ryanair, Iberia and Air Europa.

If you are an European citizen you won’t need any special documents to enter. If your aren’t, but you have a visa or permit to visit the EU you’re probably also good to go. Either way, make sure to have your documents with you.

Accommodation in Lanzarote

Finding accommodation in Lanzarote shouldn’t be difficult. however, it will depend on where you want to stay in the island, if you want to take trips around Lanzarote, whether you want to stay at an all-inclusive resort or prefer something a bit less busy. Good thing is, whatever it is you are looking for you’ll probably find it.

Most of the accommodation in Lanzarote is concentrated in three main areas of the island, Playa Blanca in the south, Puerto del Carmen south-east close to the capital city Arrecife and the big resorts around the Costa Teguise in the northeast.

For my trip to Lanzarote, I found this cosy little Aparthotel in Puerto del Carmen called Vista Mar Apartamentos via Booking.com. This place is about 10 minutes walk from stunning Playa Chica and its stunning sunsets.

Anyhow, I am sure you’ve found your accommodation in Lanzarote already so let’s get moving, shall we? I mean, I’m sure you are dying to find out more about possible day trips in Lanzarote and other awesome things you can do in Lanzarote.

Landing and setting up

Depending on when you land and where your accommodation is you may not have time and/or energy for an adventurous day so you can find your hotel and explore the area. Which is what I did when I visited. My flight landed in Lanzarote’s airport at around 5 PM on a Saturday, which, given the size of the island (60 KM -37 mi- from North to South and 25 KM -16 mi- from East to West), meant I had a few hours to find my apartment and explore the Puerto del Carmen before sunset.

It is important to note that even though there’s affordable public transportation, the best way to move around Lanzarote is by car. I chose Cicar not only because I had only heard good things about them, but they also did not require a credit card, which was a big plus for me. They were lovely, the car was a beast and I was incredibly happy with the experience.

Sunday Market in Teguise and/or Playas de Papagayo

If you happen to arrive on a Saturday (as I did), you can start your stay with a visit to the renowned Sunday Market in Teguise. It’s open from 9 AM to 2 PM and you can’t really miss it as the whole town becomes the market!

Once you’ve found all the artisan jewellery of your dreams and tried some of Lanzarote’s finest cheese, a dip in the Atlantic is exactly what you may need.

Playas Papagayo in the south-east corner of the island is located in the heart of a national park. The only way to reach them is through an unpaved way after paying a minimal fee (3 €). But the bumpy road will be worth every second once you reach these tranquil and secluded white sand beaches. Oh and observing the sea life through the crystal clear waters is one of the many not-to-be-missed things to do in Lanzarote, so don’t forget your snorkelling kit!

Learning to Surf at Famara Beach

Well known among surfers, Famara beach is the place to be if you want to learn to surf. This quaint surfer town is located in the northwestern coast of Lanzarote, at the western end of the sand desert El Jable. The constant trade winds that bathe Famara create a perfect environment for surfers, with quasi year-round perfect waves and milder temperatures. Thanks to that, every year international regulars of the water sport join the locals for a wonderful surf session. For that reason, it is no surprise to find dozens of surf schools and shops along the main street.

From the wide array of possibilities, I decided to join forces with Surf School Lanzarote to show you what a one-day session looks like. The day learning to surf with Surf School Lanzarote was incredibly fun and entertaining! And we had the beach to ourselves thanks to it being October.

Timanfaya National Park, Camel Rides and the South West of Lanzarote

It is no secret that Lanzarote (like all other islands in the Canarian archipelago) is a volcanic island. It originated as a result of the tectonic movement and since its birth, there has been some major volcanic activity, as it shows when you look around. One of the many wonderful things Lanzarote has done is creating a series of culture hubs, places to visit that tell -or show- the visitor a bit more about the island’s history. They call them CACT centres and one of them is the Montaña de Fuego or Timanfaya National Park. Unfortunately, it is not really allowed to walk freely about the land of the volcanoes but it is open to visitors, and you can even eat some wonderfully volcano grilled food.

Alternatively, you can take a 15-20 min. camel (they are actually dromedaries but in Lanzarote, they are known as camels) around the volcano grounds.

And if you’re especially motivated, the wild rocky cliffs of the south-western region of Lanzarote is a mini trip worth taking!

The North of Lanzarote and Cesar Manrique’s Legacy

One of Lanzarote’s most renowned characters is the architect, artist and environmentalist Cesar Manrique. All throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s, he fought for a better Lanzarote, for the communion of man and earth and for the thoughtful use of the resources available. He fought against the brainless speed of mass tourism infrastructure.

Up until his sudden death in the early 90s, he worked closely with Lanzarote to create beautiful, useful, locations for people to visit. These locations are known as CACT centres, and as I mentioned before, he took natural resources and adapted them in a way that people could visit and enjoy there without destructing the original beauty of the place. As most of them are in the north of the island, it is perfect for a day trip around.

Playa Blanca and Diving

As you have probably noticed by now, Lanzarote is a wonderful destination for those who love the outdoors. With 213 Km -132 mi- of coastline, water sports are quite widespread in the island. Especially snorkelling and diving, given its crystal clear waters. Playa Blanca is the newest tourist hub in Lanzarote and home to most of the diving schools.

I went on my first ever ocean dive with the lovely people from Dive College Lanzarote. They were lovely and I felt very safe all the way through the experience. However, if you are an advanced diver, you should absolutely not miss the Museum Atlántico de Lanzarote (Atlantic Museum).

The Atlantic Museum is Europe’s only underwater museum, a collection of 35 sculptures by artist Jason deCaires Taylor designed to generate an artificial reef on a large scale.

La Geria, Visiting the Oldest Winery in the Canary Islands and a Wine Tasting Session

After all the excitement and sporty week, a slow-paced day is exactly what you may need. During my planning time, I learnt that Lanzarote is home to the oldest winery in the Canary Islands and one of the oldest in Spain. Named “El Grifo” after the mythical creature, this winery has the capacity to produce up to 1 million litres of wine per year. Focusing mainly on whites, their produce has won numerous international awards. What’s so special about it? Well, if I told you I’d spoil your visit.

Located in La Geria, Bodegas El Grifo has one of the best wine museums in the world and the visit includes a wine tasting! But please, don’t drink and drive. If you’re going to do the tasting, order yourself a cheese platter and take time afterwards to walk by the vineyard!

Once you’re done, drive a few minutes away from the winery, and you’ll find the Monumento al Campesino. Yet another of Manrique’s pieces and nice for an after lunch stroll.

Unfortunately, it’s already time to go back to the apartment, pack the bags, send those postcards and take one last walk by the beach. Enjoy one last sunset, or eat your favourite meal one last time. Oh, how amazing this island is. I can’t wait to go back and explore more!

And with that and a bizcocho, in a week you explored all corners of Lanzarote, enjoyed good food and wine and kept yourself healthy by exercising. What else could you ask for? A healthy relaxing rejuvenating masses-free holiday in Lanzarote in October!

Even though I was a guest of Surf School Lanzarote during my day at Famara Beach, my opinions remain my own and I would never recommend anything I wouldn’t do and pay for myself!

December has special weather. The days are warm and sunny in the south of the country. The northern part is distinguished by the presence of precipitation in the form of rain or snow. But even in the rain you can enjoy the beauty you see.

If we compare the Spanish weather with the Russian climate, then we can assume that it is warm in Spain. It’s just that here the air temperature in all cities is different, but you can’t swim in winter.
