Iceland Warns That Extreme Weather Conditions Can Affect Flights on Saturday & Sunday
Iceland’s air navigation service provider, Isavia, has warned travellers that due to extreme cold weather conditions, flights to, from, and within Iceland may be disrupted on Saturday, December 31, 2022, and Sunday, January 1, 2023.
In a statement released on Friday, Isavia has also advised travellers to check flight times at the websites of the airlines they have booked a flight with, or the Keflavik Airport in order to be prepared, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.
“Flights to and from Keflavik Airport and regional airports in Iceland might be affected by extreme weather conditions from the morning of Saturday, December 31, till Sunday, January 1, 2023. Passengers are advised to check for flight times at the Keflavik Airport website, the airlines’ websites, and road conditions and weather at the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration website and the Icelandic Met Office’s website,” the statement reads.
According to the Iceland Meteorological Office, snow showers are expected in most of Iceland, with intermittent considerable or heavy snow along the south coast. In Reykjavik, the temperatures are expected to go as low as -13 degrees in some parts.
Isavia’s warning comes just a week after several flights had been cancelled at the Keflavik Airport, leaving hundreds of travellers stranded. Several flights to Tenerife, Las Palmas and Boston had been delayed in the meantime, leaving passengers waiting for the weather to clear.
SchengenVisaInfo.com had reported that a total of 52 flights out of 70 scheduled to arrive on December 19 at the Keflavik Airport had been cancelled, as well as 63 departing flights.
“Due to the severe weather circumstances in Iceland, we are unfortunately forced to cancel our morning flights from and to Keflavik on December 20,” Icelandair had announced amongst other airlines.
The same had also noted that since Reykjanesbraut, the road which connects Keflavik airport to Reykjavik, was closed, many passengers would not be able to go to a hotel. However, if the road opened and passengers were forced to stay overnight, they would be compensated up to €150 per room.
The United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has advised British citizens travelling to Iceland, and those in Iceland over the situation, advising them to pay attention to announcements by airport staff.
It can get pretty toasty out there, especially in some regions of the globe. These ten countries consistently push the mercury readings to uncomfortable (for most) levels. The following figures were calculated by taking the collective average of the annual temperatures between 1991 and 2020.
Mali (28.83°C / 83.89°F)
Burkina Faso (28.71°C / 83.68°F)
Senegal (28.65°C / 83.57°F)
Tuvalu (28.45°C / 83.21°F)
Djibouti (28.38°C / 83.08°F)
Mauritania (28.34°C / 83.01°F)
Bahrain (28.23°C / 82.81°F)
Palau (28.04°C / 82.47°F)
Qatar (28. 02°C / 82.44°F)
The Gambia (27.97°C / 82.35°F)
1. Mali (28.83°C / 83.89°F)
Life in the hot and dry environs of Mali is quite hard for the residents there. Editorial credit: Attila JANDI / Shutterstock.com
The Republic of Mali is a sizzling hot, landlocked nation in Northwestern Africa. The landscape is primarily a blend of the arid Sahara and the semi-arid Sahel regions, with the Niger River flowing for just over 1,000 miles (1,600 km) through the interior, providing fertile soils in an otherwise challenging environment. Most of Mali receives scarce rainfall and hence, suffers from frequent droughts. The northern part of Mali experiences a hot desert climate with scorching summers, while the central part has a hot semi-arid climate with an intense hot season and a brief, rainy season. Temperatures in the north can be as high as 48°C (118.4°F) in some areas. The southern part has a comparatively milder climate with defined dry and wet seasons but with high temperatures throughout the year.
2. Burkina Faso (28.71°C / 83.68°F)

Just South of Mali is Burkina Faso, a country that sits on a vast savanna plateau. Given the proximity, Burkina Faso experiences an extremely similar year-round temperature average to its Northern neighbor, though the seasons and environment manifest in distinct ways. The country experiences two distinct seasons, the dry and the wet, and three temperature zones. Hot, dry winds called harmattan blow in the dry season, making the heat often unbearable. The rainy season lasts from May to September, with rainfall volume greatly varying from south to north of the country. The northern Sahel receives less than 600 mm of annual rainfall, while the Sudan-Guinea zone in the south receives over 900 m of yearly rain. The Sudan-Sahel zone between these two receives an intermediate volume of rainfall. Average annual temperatures also become lower from north to south.
3. Senegal (28.65°C / 83.57°F)
Zebus and cows drinking in a pond during the dry season in north Senegal.
The party continues West of Mali, in the Republic of Senegal. Though the Atlantic Ocean embraces its Western border, little respite is offered from the scorching average temperatures. But despite the heat, humans have learned to cope and even thrive here since the Paleolithic era (Senegal is one of only a handful of countries with such evidence dating back this far). From May to November, the climate is humid and rainy (and hot), while the dry season is from December to April (and is also hot!). Temperatures are milder along the coast than in the interior. Temperatures as high as 54 °C (129.2 °F) have been recorded in the Tambacounda region in the country’s interior.
4. Tuvalu (28.45°C / 83.21°F)
The tropical paradise of Tuvalu experiences hot and humid days all year round.
The nation of Tuvalu is made up of a collection of nine idyllic islands (coral atolls) in the Polynesian subregion of Oceania, roughly equidistant from Hawaii and Australia. As one might expect, the climate is tropical, with heavy rains arriving between November and March. High temperatures prevail all year round, ranging from 25°C to 30°C/77°F to 86°F. The country also experiences powerful cyclones during the tropical cyclone season of November to April.
5. Djibouti (28.38°C / 83.08°F)

The Republic of Djibouti is a small East African nation encompassed by Southern Eritrea and the Red Sea (to the North), Eastern Ethiopia (to the West), Northwestern Somalia (to the Southeast), and the Gulf of Aden (to the East). This region experiences a hot, arid, subtropical climate with little seasonal variation. High temperatures prevail all year round with a mean daily maximum range of 32 to 41 °C (90 to 106 °F). In eastern Djibouti, the most significant temperature gradients are found, with highlands experiencing nearly freezing temperatures in winter and the littoral plains having temperatures of over 41 °C (106 °F) in summer. Making matters more challenging is the fact that Djibouti is incredibly freshwater-scarce (only 0.3 km3 of renewable sources). Along with being one of the world’s hottest/driest countries, Djibouti is also home to one of the lowest places on the planet (these phenomena tend to correlate), Lake Assal, which sits at 155 meters/509 feet below sea level.
6.
Mauritania (28.34°C / 83.01°F)
Aerial wide panorama of the west part of Nouakchott, Mauritania.
The Islamic Republic of Mauritania rests North of Senegal and North/West of Mali (as well as South of Western Sahara). Given that 90% of its land falls within the Sahara Desert, life here can be a rather hot, dusty, and arid affair. Naturally, most of the population has gravitated to the Atlantic Coast, and in particular, the capital city of Nouakchott. Extremes of temperature are experienced in Mauritania, with a long, dry season and scanty and irregular rainfall in the short wet season. Diurnal variations in temperature in desert areas can be extreme. In the country’s Saharan zone, temperatures can range from as low as the freezing point in the early morning to as high as 38 °C (100.4 °F) mid-afternoon in December and January. In June, maximum temperatures can easily be above 49 °C (120.2 °F) by the afternoon. Except for the narrow coastal region that is under the influence of oceanic trade winds, dry, hot winds called harmattan blow across much of the country during the dry season. Along with its oppressive climate, Mauritania has also experienced a spicy past – just recently breaking free of a long stretch of political conflicts and legitimized slavery, but is now seen as an emerging democratic nation.
7. Bahrain (28.23°C / 82.81°F)
The arid desert landscape in Bahrain.
Situated in the Persian Gulf and sandwiched between Saudi Arabia (to the West) and Qatar (to the East), the small archipelagic Middle East nation of Bahrain does its best to keep cool. The Kingdom of Bahrain (officially) does enjoy mild winters, but in the summertime, things tend to get exceptionally hot and humid. The country experiences an arid climate, with average afternoon summer temperatures being as high as 40 °C (104 °F). Desertification, droughts, and dust storms all pose additional environmental challenges. Warm, dry winds called qaws blow in the summer, often bringing sand clouds. Bahrain also receives very little rainfall, with most rain falling in the winter months as brief, torrential downpours. Thus, the country lacks any permanent rivers or streams.
8. Palau (28.04°C / 82.47°F)
The beautiful tropical islands of Palau.
The Republic of Palau is a cluster of hundreds of gorgeous limestone and volcanic islands in the North Pacific Ocean, east of the southern Philippines. Given its chart-topping average temperatures, vulnerability to rising sea levels, and captivating natural beauty, Palau is a global leader in combating climate change and establishing environmental protocols. The country experiences a tropical rainforest climate with heavy rains all year round. The high humidity and temperatures often combine to create uncomfortable conditions, but that is no deterrent to tourists who are still attracted by the country’s spectacular natural beauty.
9. Qatar (28.02°C / 82.44°F)
A camel against the bright sun in the desert near Doha, Qatar. Editorial credit: oliverdelahaye / Shutterstock.com
The recent host of the 2022 FIFA World Cup had to build air-conditioned stadiums to keep the best soccer players from across the globe from sweating up a storm. The State of Qatar (officially) occupies the Qatar Peninsula, thereby sharing its sole land border with Saudi Arabia (to the South). It is also separated from Bahrain by the narrow Gulf of Bahrain and otherwise is completely embraced by the Persian Gulf. Desert covers most of Qatar, and the country experiences scorching, sunny summers and very mild winters.
10. The Gambia (27.97°C / 82.35°F)
Young girls carrying buckets with water on their heads in Sankandi, The Gambia. Editorial credit: Lars Fortuin / Shutterstock.com
Just dipping below that 28-degree Celsius average threshold is the Republic of Gambia, the smallest nation in mainland Africa. Its slim footprint extends East into the Southern portion of Senegal from the Atlantic Ocean, hugging the floodplain of the Gambia River – one of the continent’s major waterways. The country experiences a sub-tropical climate with two distinct seasons – the long, dry season, and a short, wet one, with high temperatures throughout the year. The Gambia therefore experiences a similar climate to its surrounding neighbor, though the relatively large percentage of water makes for grassy terrain.
Out of the frying pan and into the fire. These sizzling countries have posted intimidating weather reports over the last thirty years. Climate change has made life more difficult for the people of these places by making the climate more extreme. While droughts and desertification are a cause of concern for the African and Middle Eastern nations on this list, the Pacific islands are threatened by rising sea levels and extreme weather events. Thus, the future of these hottest countries is at stake, and we are to blame for that.

← Previous question Can stress change your face?
Next question → Is a 35 waist small?
all about the seasons and when is the best time to visit
There is no bad weather on the Island of the Gods. There is always something to do and see. Therefore, the answer to the question “when is it better to relax in Bali” is very simple: always. Bali is located near the equator. The climate here is equatorial monsoon, and the temperature in summer and winter does not change. All year round the sun rises at about 6 am and sets around 6 pm, and the water and air are 27-30 degrees. Summer lasts 365 days and tourists come throughout the year. At the same time, the weather in Bali in January and July is different. It is determined by the seasons, which are not four in Bali, but only two: from April to October there is a dry season, from November to March – the rainy season.
Compared to other countries in Southeast Asia, the rainy season in Bali is mild and pleasant. During this period, the weather is hot and humid. It doesn’t rain every day. These are real tropical downpours that start suddenly, pour in half an hour or an hour, and then the sun comes out again, everything dries up instantly and life returns to its normal rhythm. During the dry season, the island has a comfortable temperature, a light breeze blows, and the tan becomes more golden.
We divided the Balinese year into the usual four seasons and decided to see how the weather changes and what is the best thing to do in each of them.
Weather in Bali in March – April – May
At this time, the dry season begins in Bali. It rains less and less, and the daytime temperature remains high. March is one of the hottest months on the island, so walk at noon with care so you don’t get heatstroke. At the end of March, you have a chance to celebrate another new year – this time the Balinese Nyepi, or the Day of Silence. On this day, you can not leave the house, light a fire and use mobile phones. But do not rush to be upset – take advantage of the rare opportunity to be alone with yourself, meditate and recharge your batteries in this amazing place. Try it: a “day of silence” is worth it!
There are far fewer tourists in March and April, so if you like the off-season, this is a great option. Clean beaches and warm ocean await you. The perfect time to take a surf course in Kuta or Canggu, go diving or snorkeling in the lagoons of Nusa Penida and explore the coral reefs off the coast of Bali.
In May there is practically no rain, and the water is still very warm. If you are planning a trip for the May holidays, keep in mind that a lot of Russian tourists come here at this time, so the main tourist destinations are busy. If you want to find solitude while traveling, go to the central part of Bali, Ubud, and to the north – there you will discover a lot of interesting things. Starting from the second half of the month, the influx of tourists decreases.
June – July – August in Bali
These months are the height of the dry season, when rain is extremely rare. If you like moderately hot weather, come at this time. During the day, the temperature is kept within 28 degrees, a pleasant breeze blows, there is absolutely no humidity and stuffiness, unlike the winter months. During an evening walk or a ride on a scooter, you will even want to put on a sweater. The water in the ocean is cool, so you may need a thin wetsuit for morning surfing. But the waves are ideal for taking the whole course and then confidently conquering them on the board.
In July-August in Bali, the peak of the high season, so take care of tickets, rental housing or a scooter in advance. Book your excursions well in advance.
This is the best time to conquer the summit of the mystical volcano Batur and take some gorgeous sunrise shots there. In winter, there is a danger that you will not be lucky with the weather. You will rise to a height of 1717 meters above sea level, but in rain or fog you will not be able to enjoy the incredible view that opens from the observation deck. But in the summer this will not happen: you will climb and meet one of the most beautiful sunrises in your life! In the morning haze, the view of the surrounding mountains, the village of Kintamani and Lake Batur is mesmerizing. Another bonus awaits you – breakfast on the volcano. The guide will offer you sweet toast and eggs, which he will steam in front of you on a clear day. It is unlikely that you will find such delicacies anywhere else!
September – October – November
In autumn, the dry season gradually turns into the rainy season. In September-October the weather remains the same as in the summer months. Humidity is low. Unlike June-August, the water in the ocean is very warm. Surf spots in Kuta, Canggu or Uluwatu without the need for a wetsuit. There is another significant plus – at this time there are fewer tourists, so it is easier to find accommodation and rent a bike. The main tourist destinations are unloaded, so the chances of taking beautiful photos of the Tanah Lot temple or the rice terraces in Tegallalang increase. In October, it can rain a couple of times, but in November it rains more often. The air becomes more humid.
If you want to go to the neighboring islands, Nasa Penida, Gili and Lembongan, do it in autumn. Quietly, without unnecessary fuss and noisy tourist companies, enjoy their meditative beauty, admire nature and relax on the white beaches. Have fun!
Like in Bali in December – January – February
If you are wondering what is the rainy season, come to Bali in winter. Rains begin in December and gradually stop by the end of February – beginning of March. True, they do not happen every day. Clouds usually gather in the afternoon. It rains for half an hour or an hour, then the sun comes out and everything dries up instantly. But even if you are caught in a downpour, this is unlikely to upset you. Since the weather is hot at this time, such a rain shower is another fun attraction for tourists.
December is considered the Russian season. Fans of warm countries come to celebrate the New Year with a view of the ocean. On the night of December 31 to January 1, salutes and fireworks are fired all over the coast. They celebrate the holiday in cafes on the beach and restaurants, and have fun until dawn.
Winter is a great time to visit the Tegallalang Rice Terraces or the Hidden Canyon. The fields at this time become bright green, very saturated, unusual color, and canyons and rivers are filled with water. So if you want to get an idea of what nature looks like during the rainy season, head to the central part of the island and to the north.
Bali surprises all year round with its incredible seascapes, mighty jungles and ancient temples. Only the direction of the wind changes. But this is for the best, because at any time you can fly over the island on a paraglider and see all these wonders from a bird’s eye view!

When is the best time to go to Italy Find out when is the best time to do it!
Italy is an amazing country that combines all possible pleasures – the sea, mountains, historical sights, divine national cuisine and numerous wineries known throughout the world. Therefore, the question of when it is better to go to Italy can not even be asked – this trip will be relevant at any time of the year, but the place depends on your preferences.
Italy in winter: where to go
The weather in Italy in winter is warm and mild compared to our climate. Average temperatures and rainfall vary by region. Snow falls most often only in mountainous regions, while in coastal areas, the temperature remains above zero. But still it is worth saying that the low season in Italy falls mainly on the winter months. The weather in Italy in December is quite warm (+5–15°С) almost throughout the country, but at ski resorts it can drop to -5°С.
The weather in Italy in January is quite damp and uncomfortable, so we do not recommend choosing this month for sightseeing trips to Italy. But at the same time, during this post-holiday period, prices for housing and flights are decreasing, and therefore if you are not afraid of bad weather (the temperature in excursion cities is + 5–10 ° С, often rain and wind), then feel free to hit the road. In the mountainous regions, the weather is just perfect (-3–5°С) for skiing and snowboarding.
The weather in Italy in February is similar to January, however, it is a little warmer in the mountains. In general, for a holiday in Italy in winter, we still recommend choosing ski regions where the temperature is below zero and you can ski or snowboard in plenty. For example, you can choose such resorts as Madonna di Campiglio, Courmayeur, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Livigno or Bormio.

in Italy in spring
The weather in Italy in spring can be somewhat unpredictable and rainy. Therefore, if you want to go on a trip at the beginning of the season, we recommend that you check the weather forecast in Italy for March in advance so that the coolness and precipitation do not take you by surprise. At the beginning of spring in many Italian cities the weather is windy and chilly, and the air temperature does not rise above +10°C.
The weather in Italy in April already pleases with warm days, but rains are still possible in the northern and central regions of the country. But since prices during this period are much lower than during the warm period, many travelers choose April for sightseeing tours in Italy and explore cities such as Rome or Milan.
The high season in Italy begins in May. Of course, it doesn’t happen year after year, but usually the weather in Italy in May is already stable and sunny, at the end of the month you can safely go to beach resorts like Rimini or Forio.

Italy in the summer: where to go
Of course, summer is the best time for a sunny vacation Italy. But for some, the weather in Italy in summer may even seem too hot. For example, in coastal regions, the air temperature can warm up to + 35-37 ° С. It is especially hot in Sicily. But the sea temperature in Italy in summer is stable around + 24-25 ° C, so you can safely go with your child to the sea in Italy in any of the summer months.
The weather in Italy in June, July and August will please those who want to get a good tan and swim plenty, but will upset those who want to visit sightseeing cities – after all, sightseeing in such heat can turn into torture.

Let’s take a winter getaway this year and head somewhere with nothing but sunshine and sandy shores! Sounds incredible, right?
Finding warm places to visit in December is always a good idea.
If the winter months have you down or the holiday season has you stressed to the max, consider a trip to one of these tropical escapes.
Shorelines stretch as far as the eye can see and the only thing you have to decide is which beach to visit and what tropical cocktail to sip on next.
You could spend your winter vacation skiing and snowboarding at a ski resort, exploring Christmas markets, ice skating in New York City, but why?
My idea of a great time is maybe a road trip to Key West with warm temperatures (and by warm I mean average temperatures between 75-85 degrees).
Thank you for letting me share some of my favorite travel finds with you! This is a Delta Vacations partnered post. All opinions remain my own.
Planning a winter getaway for December
If you need inspiration on somewhere new to visit outside the US, these are eight of my favorite tropical destinations that are perfectly best places to travel in December.
Pin this for later!
St. Kitts and Nevis
The sister islands of St. Kitts and Nevis in the West Indies are covered in white sand beaches that slip into the turquoise waves of the Caribbean.
Christopher Columbus saw the islands in 1493, but it wasn’t until the 1620s that the British colonized these two islands separated by a mere 2 miles.
Today, it is well known for its beautiful beach getaways.
There are also mountain ranges that climb skyward and rainforests that speckle the land with their mysterious depths.
Visitors can explore the variety of scenery and hike dormant volcanoes that rest for eternity on the island.
A richly diverse history on these islands can be seen in the many ruins including the Brimstone Hill Fortress which was made a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
While there is plenty to do and see, these islands are less developed than other vacation spots offering a truly serene getaway.
Based on my visit, here are what I think are the 8 Best Things to Do in St Kitts.
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Perched along the Pacific coast, Puerto Vallarta is a city of adventure, culture, and beauty.
This destination is the place to experience great nightlife and indulge in the amazing local cuisine.

A Luxurious Lush Escape in the Heart of Malacca, Malaysia
There are over twenty beaches that welcome guests with hot sunshine and cool waves.
Enjoy the variety of recreational water activities like surfing and snuba diving or kayaking and deep-sea fishing.
Watch the massive whales splash through the waters enjoying their natural habitat.
Peruse one of the many art galleries or outdoor sculptures and learn about the history of the city.
If you are into a little more adventure, rent a jet ski or go sky diving over the aquamarine depths of the Pacific.
There are also ATV rentals for treks through the jungle.
After a day of enjoying the great outdoors, take a trip over to one of the many nightclubs and dance the night away.
Excellent Mexican food, fruity drinks, and plenty of dance floors make it perfect for a couple’s getaway.
I’ve visited Puerto Vallarta many times. Here are a few posts you may be interested in to learn more about what to do, where to eat and where to stay in Puerto Vallarta.

Nassau, Bahamas
The capital city of the Bahamas has a unique history that many might not realize.
Nassau’s main harbor was once an attraction to pirates, and until 1718, pirates were the main inhabitants of the beach paradise.
However, the first Royal Governor forced out the pirates and built Fort Nassau.
The famous Blackbeard Pirate once resided in Nassau and the British Colonial Hilton now stands on his former residence.
Now, visitors can experience the incredible history of the island.
There are former villages preserved as Heritage Sites for people to view what life was once like on the island.
And, of course there are incredible beaches.
There are many beaches each with their own personalities.
Cabbage Beach is known for its white sand that will feel like silk upon your skin.
If you prefer a lively beach take a stroll over to Junkanoo Beach where you’ll find plenty of socializing.
There is a beach for whatever kind of paradise you are looking for…even the kind with swimming pigs.
Samana, Dominican Republic
This city located in the northeastern region of the Dominican Republic, and to the locals, it is known as Santa Barbara de Samana.
There is only a small population of 15,000 that reside in the city making it a quiet getaway unlike many other resort areas, but it is nothing short of stunning.
In fact, in 2009, the Bay of Samana was voted “One of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World.”
In this bay, you can see thousands of humpback whales enjoying the refreshing waters in January through March.
You can also experience a variety of wildlife at Los Haitises National Park.
This enormous park offers incredible hiking and secluded landscapes for the ultimate serenity.
There are also many secret beaches that are only accessible by hiking or boat.
Sneak away to a private cove and enjoy the quiet.
When you are looking for a night out, visit Las Terrenas where you can find accommodations for your entire trip as well as information about available activities.
From beachfront hotels to restaurants with scrumptious local cuisines, this area is a wonderful introduction to the culture and beauty of Samana.
Guanacaste, Costa Rica
Once considered a part of Nicaragua, the northwest province of Guanacaste is now a part of Costa Rica with a rich culture and diverse landscapes.
Miles of coastline and a variety of protected wildlife areas offer visitors a variety of activities.
Mountain ranges with dry forests along with tropical forests create a variety that is often hard to find in one destination.
Visit Santa Rosa National Park to do a little hiking and view some of the 250 bird species that call it home.
Within the park, you can also do some surfing or just soak up the sun on the white-sand beaches.
Wander over to Rincon de la Vieja National Park that has over 34,000 acres which feature active volcanoes, waterfalls, and a trail that leads you up the side of Santa Maria Volcano which is one of the nine craters within the park.

Tulum, Mexico
Tulum is a breathtaking part of Mexico that has rare and interesting attractions. Found on the Yucatan Peninsula, Tulum is home to many mysterious and beautiful cenotes.
These natural sinkholes occur when cave ceilings collapse into the water table below.
It leaves incredible swimming holes that are tucked away like secrets, and they can be found all over the Yucatan Peninsula.
To stand on the edge of one of these cenotes is like looking down a well into paradise.
Vines hang from the leftover rock ceiling and dip down into the turquoise pools. They are a must-see.
Learn more about the cenotes in Mexico.
In Tulum, you will also find the National Park which includes Mayan archaeological sites like the ruins of an ancient watchtower that sits upon a clifftop that overlooks the sea as well as the Templo de las Pinturas.
Tulum once had ancient civilizations live upon its soil, and today you can experience some of the ancient relics left behind and breathe in the beauty of the land.
Ocho Rios, Jamaica
There is something very special about Jamaica. It’s unique ‘Island Living’ makes you feel as if you have been transported to a different world.
The slow-paced atmosphere makes it easy to stop and enjoy the sights without a care in the world.
Along with beautiful beaches, Ocho Rios also has some great adventures.
Take a tour through Cave Valley where there are interconnecting cave systems formed from limestone.
It is next to a historic village along the Cave River.
Near Cave Valley is Rat Bat hole which is a popular attraction, and it is exactly what it sounds like.
A surface opening that leads into the cave system is filled with bats, and visitors are welcome to get a glimpse of the hoards of furry bats that reside there.
If caves and bats aren’t your thing, there are also Jeep and ATV Safaris, catamaran rides, and horseback riding on the beach.
For those that love to shop, Ocho Rios has Casa de Oro Ocho Rios where you can buy luxury jewelry.
Don’t forget about the eats!
Ocho Rios has lots of restaurant options like Chinese and Italian, but it’s the Jamaican Jerk Chicken that they do best.
Providenciales, Turks and Caicos
Providenciales, often referred to as Provo, covers 38 miles and is the most developed of the islands.
The World Travel Awards have voted Provo with the award of “Best Beaches” multiple times. Some of the most popular beaches are Grace Bay Beach, Leward, Bight and Taylor Bay.
With so many beaches, there is a wide variety of water activities including diving and snorkeling.
Chalk Sound National Park also has a spectacular lagoon and limestone islands.
As your plane arrives on the island, it will hover over the National Park leaving you speechless by its radiant beauty.
Beyond the white sand beaches, Turks and Caicos has a variety of luxury resorts and spas as well as high-end shopping to suit every whim.
There are bars and cafes and even a golf course.
Hike Blue Mountain to take in views of the north shore and the barrier reef.
If you want to explore neighboring islands you can hop on a ferry, charter boat, or even a plane and do some exploring.

Where to go for the New Year – 2023 in Russia: TOP destinations, tours and prices preferences among the regions has not changed – most Russians want to spend the New Year holidays in the Krasnodar Territory. We made a selection of interesting New Year’s tours throughout Russia with prices.
Demand for tours in Russia for these New Year holidays has grown in almost all areas, according to tour operators. The main reasons for such a surge in demand for tours in Russia compared to last year are as follows:
no covid restrictions in Russia, including in the Krasnodar Territory (low base effect and deferred demand),
a significant increase in the cost of New Year’s tours to foreign destinations and outbound tourism in principle,
difficulties with logistics (lack of direct flights) and visas for many foreign New Year destinations popular with Russians.
The peak of sales for the New Year holidays has already arrived. The most active sales will go until December 6-10 . In the Moscow region, this period may be longer due to the traditionally short depth of sales in this area.
However, for most of the most popular domestic New Year’s destinations, a shortage of good accommodation is gradually emerging. So, for example, experts of the Dolphin tour operator note that at the moment up to 80% of the volume planned by the tour operator for the New Year holidays has already been sold.
The average check for a tour for the New Year holidays in Russia is now about 55–60 thousand rubles for two for 4 nights (no airfare) .
THE PHENOMENON OF THE NEW YEAR TOURIST BOOM IN THE KRASNODAR REGION AND ITS EXPLANATION
According to tour operators, the Krasnodar Territory (mainly Sochi) accounts for up to a third of the total volume of bookings of tours in Russia for the New Year holidays. At the same time, there is a significant increase in demand compared to the same period last year. So, in the National tour operator ALEAN, the demand for New Year’s arrivals in the Krasnodar Territory increased by 40%, and in FUN & SUN – by 85%. nine0007
“Such a surge in demand for the Krasnodar Territory compared to last year is due, among other things, to the low base effect: covid restrictions were in effect in the region last New Year’s holidays. Even a restaurant visit required a vaccination certificate. This year, all restrictions have been lifted, and tourists have returned to the region in their usual numbers,” explains Sergey Romashkin, CEO of Dolphin.
According to tour operators, the Krasnodar Territory is now choosing up to thirds of organized tourists planning New Year holidays in Russia. At the same time, tour operators mainly talk about recreation in the coastal zone. Another 7% of the total organized domestic tourist flow for the New Year chose a ski holiday in the Sochi mountain cluster (Krasnaya Polyana, Rosa Khutor, Gazprom-Laura, etc. ).
While in the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory, you can still find places for the New Year holidays. But the number of proposals that are optimal in terms of price / quality ratio is decreasing every day, experts state. nine0003 By mid-December, there may be places left in Sochi only in a very low-budget segment – high-level hotels, luxury rooms, etc. than last year. The growth in prices for accommodation in accommodation facilities in the coastal cluster amounted to about 10%, in the mountains – up to 20% year-on-year.
According to the tour operator “Delfin”, at the moment the average bill for a New Year’s tour to the Krasnodar Territory is 43 thousand rubles for two (without road) for 4 nights . Ski tours in Sochi are more expensive: the average bill for two for 4 nights is now 90,003,116 thousand rubles. (no flight) .
Air tickets to Sochi increased in price more significantly than last year. Now, depending on the dates of New Year’s arrivals from Moscow, you can buy tickets to the resort for 15–20 thousand rubles. per person (without luggage).
Accordingly, 60-80 thousand rubles more must be added to the above average amounts of tours. for two (round trip). That is, along with an expensive New Year’s holiday in the South of Russia for two for 4 nights, it will cost an average of 106-196 thousand rubles depending on the type of accommodation and date of arrival.
TOP MOST POPULAR TOURIST DESTINATIONS IN RUSSIA FOR THE NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS
Each of the directions accounts for a share of about 10% in the total sales volume for the New Year holidays.
“Bookings for tours to St. Petersburg are active, we are opening additional groups for some popular tours. Compared to last year, we note a significant increase in sales, as in 2021 covid restrictions have greatly reduced tourist activity during the New Year holidays. St. Petersburg has been and remains one of the most popular travel destinations in Russia. Despite the fact that some traditional city events will not take place this year, the city will still host the traditional Christmas Fair, the streets will be decorated and even the famous New Year tree will be re-installed on Palace Square. There is always an interesting alternative to city events – New Year’s banquets and parties, which can also be booked through us, ”says the Nevsky Seasons company. nine0007
On average, tours to St. Petersburg have risen in price by 10% over the year, but some objects cost 20% more than last year. This is explained by the fact that last year St. Petersburg, like Moscow, experienced difficulties with loading. Hoteliers had to significantly reduce prices, now there is no such thing. In fact, New Year’s prices this year in the two capitals are at the level of 2019, tour operators note.
Prices for New Year’s tours to St. Petersburg start from 3 950 rubles. for 1 person for a 2-day tour in a 3 * economy class hotel, and up to 35-40 thousand rubles. per person for a 6-day tour with accommodation in 5* hotels.
Demand for Kavminvody for the New Year also increased in comparison with the previous year – by an average of 20%. If in most destinations for the New Year holidays the average duration of tours is 4 nights, here it is about 7-10 days. “Kavminvods are now experiencing a surplus in demand and a shortage of places for accommodation,” the ALEAN company notes. nine0007
The average bill for the Caucasian Mineral Waters is now about 70–75 thousand rubles. for 7 nights for two without airfare . The cheapest air flight – from 15 thousand rubles. back and forth per person, that is, for two more + 60 thousand rubles. minimum.
Next in the ranking of tour operators in terms of the number of bookings are ski holidays in different resorts, as well as Moscow and the Moscow region .
It should be noted that the share of mountain facilities Sochi in the ski segment of different companies reaches 70–90%. The rest is occupied by Sheregesh, Arkhyz, Dombay, Elbrus region, Abzakovo and Bannoe . At these resorts ski holidays are on average 20% cheaper than in Sochi. However, here it is necessary to take into account both the cost of air travel and the transfer, which can cost 3-4 thousand rubles.
New Year’s Moscow and the Moscow region have risen in price by 15–20% this year, but the demand for destinations is growing rapidly. The share of these destinations in the total sales of tour operators is on average 6.5–5%. But the share of the Moscow region will still grow – closer to mid-December. nine0007
“There are usually fixed arrivals in the Moscow region: arrivals from December 31 to January 2 or 3 are popular. And also a Christmas check-in: from 01/06 to 01/08/23, ”the press service of the FUN & SUN tour operator says.
The average bill for the Moscow region on New Year’s dates exceeds 80 thousand rubles. for two for 4 nights . It is important that in this case, tourists save on air travel, the indicated amount is all their expenses.
WHERE ELSE IN RUSSIA WILL TOURISTS CELEBRATE THE NEW YEAR
Another popular New Year destination for tourists this year is Karelia . According to the ScanTour tour operator, the demand for the destination in 2022 increased by 50%, while half of the volume of tours planned for the New Year holidays has already been sold.
“We have almost run out of places for our exclusive offers with a banquet in Ruskeala, Kindasovo and Bastion. There is still an opportunity to go on a tour with New Year’s Eve on the patrimony of the Karelian Santa Claus Talvi Ukko. We recommend that you make your choice before December 15, this December week there will be the last places for New Year’s tours,” they say in ScanTour. nine0007
Basically, tours to Karelia are designed for 3-4 days. The range of “ScanTour” includes both New Year’s excursion tours with transfers by bus, and tour packages with flights by plane.
Prices for New Year’s Karelia start from 18 950 rubles. per person for a three-day stay to 89 900 rubles. (with accommodation in a Premium class VIP location in a separate cottage). Prices are excluding travel.
This season, tourists are actively booking tours for Baikal for the New Year holidays, experts say.
“Reservations are peaking right now. Soon there will be no places left on Lake Baikal,” FUN&SUN warns. Interestingly, 90% of sales are sales of ready-made excursion tours. The average duration of a holiday on Lake Baikal in the New Year is 4-6 nights.
The novelty of this New Year holidays at FUN&SUN is New Year’s tours to Dagestan .
“The first reservations were already made in mid-September. Check-in for the New Year is more actively booked than for Christmas. Since mid-October, sales have been stable, but not very active. The maximum demand is expected in December. We have already included a New Year’s banquet and a national dinner for the Christmas arrival in the cost of the tours,” the company said. nine0007
The cost of tours to Dagestan for the New Year starts from 37 thousand rubles. per person (already with airfare included) .
But the demand for the New Year’s Kazan is still “slipping” – the direction has risen in price by 20-30% compared to last year. Tour operators expect that demand will be activated here in December, because last year all flights were closed only 10 days before the New Year holidays.
Tour operator FUN&SUN has its own charter program to Kazan for the New Year holidays. Excursion tours cost from 20 thousand rubles per person (already with air travel) .
WHICH DOMESTIC DESTINATIONS HAVE NOT COMMUNATED TOURISTS YET?
Demand fell the most for Crimea . The main problem is the closed airport. On New Year’s holidays, a trip to Crimea by car or train will be too long. Entertainment
We absolutely loved this cruise! We cannot thank P&O’s staff enough for a fabulous fortnight on board P&O Azura. Our only complaint was the embarkation formalities at Valletta but that was partly our fault as we really should have printed off hard copies of our up to date Covid records before we left, it would have saved so much time and angst trying to view them via the NHS App. Credit to the lady who helped us at the terminal in Valletta. The Jet 2 flight was well organised and more or less on time which was a great relief as we have had nightmare experiences on previous flights. Once on board we quickly found our way around the ship and downloaded the “My Holiday” app although it only worked for the first few days! After that we gave up faffing around with it and went to the venues in person to book things. The food in the MDR’s was excellent although it could have been a little warmer. The Beach House and Glass House venues were absolutely fantastic serving superb food in very relaxing environments. The entertainment was brilliant. Especially the 2022 Britain’s Got Talent runner up Tom Ball and The Voice contestant Stephanie Webber they both have wonderful singing voices. The entertainments team Band Pulse were very good, and the Comedian Tucker had us in stitches although we had seen him before on a previous cruise. The excursions were very well organised although a tad tiring in Florence and Rome, but we saw everything we wanted to see. Captain Turnbull’s announcements were very informative and amusing. I particularly enjoyed his Faux Pas with the word “Ship” on one of them, I nearly fell out of bed laughing. Once again a big thank you to P&O and Iglu for everything.

Fabulous cruise on a lovely if slightly ageing ship. But there are some very smart up to date bars which have recently been refurbished ie Planet and Glass house bars. P&O have had to cut costs and service was rather slow in the restaurant possibly due to staff cuts and absence of a somelier. Also no turn down service at night, but not of particular concern. Very efficient travelling arrangements. Good value for money.

The Weather on the Costa del Sol in December & January (and 3 Excellent Reasons to Visit)
by Justin | Oct 13, 2016 | Tourist Guides
Tweet
The Costa del Sol is undoubtedly one of Europe’s top holiday destinations during the busier spring, summer and autumn seasons; however, what many people don’t know is that it’s also a popular resort for those looking for a winter sun break!
One of the main reasons for this popularity is the mild and sunny weather which prevails during the winter months (December, January and February).
If you’re from the UK or Ireland, it’s sometimes difficult to believe that you’re on the same continent! You look out of your window and all you see are gloomy clouds and rain… to add to the dreariness, you step out the door and you’re met by freezing temperatures and on occasions, snow and ice!
You probably get home and the first thing you do is check the price and availability of flights to the nearest sunny destination. And guess what, you’re in luck. Flights to the Costa del Sol’s capital, Málaga, are frequent and, in the winter months, surprisingly cheap. In less than 3 hours you can be soaking up the Spanish sunshine and sipping on a nice cold ‘cerveza’.
Still have doubts about the weather on the Costa del Sol in winter… is it really that great? Well, whilst we can’t promise endless sunshine and high temperatures, we can show you the actual daily temperatures and hours of sunshine per day taken from Malaga airport weather station in December 2015 and January 2016. Whatever happens, chances are it will be warmer, drier and sunnier than most of the rest of Europe!
Here’s a quick chart highlighting the interesting weather stats for the Costa del Sol in December and January:
So to sum it all up…
Average Maximum Daily Temperature in December & January: 20ºC
Maximum Daily Temperature reached: 24. 1ºC (on the 31st January 2015)
Only 5 days of rain over the two month period.
Average of 5 hours of sunshine per day during December & January
Whilst the weather is probably the main reason for visiting the Costa del Sol in the winter, there are others. Here are three of our favourites:
Whilst the high season summer months can get a little chaotic with the heavy crowds, the winter months make for a welcome change. You’ll find queues to major tourist attractions significantly shorter and a ‘stress-free’ ambience which adds to the charm of this unique part of Andalusia.
Supply and demand during the winter season means that flight and hotel prices are significantly lower with fabulous bargains to be grabbed if you book far enough in advance. As an example, staying at Sunset Beach Club during December or January means you can take advantage of our lowest room rates… just €58 per night in an exterior apartment (sea or mountain views).
With over 60 golf courses, the Costa del Sol really is a golfer’s paradise. The months of December and January tend to be a little quieter on the courses which means you’ll be able to enjoy a relaxing round without the stress of having to wait at every tee and being able to book your preferred tee-off time.
You’ll also find that rates at many of the courses are lower during these months allowing you to take advantage of some great deals. If you’re a keen golfer, you’ll want to take a look at our great-value golf packages which include accommodation, tee times, buggy and hire car!
It can get a little hot to visit tourist attractions during the summer but December and January are ideal for a little cultural sightseeing. As you’ve read above, the temperatures are perfect for going out and exploring the wonders of Southern Spain. Whether it be a cultural tour of Malaga City centre, visiting the vast array of museums and spectacular landmarks or taking a hike through the gorgeous countryside, there really is something for everyone.
If you prefer to wander a bit further afield, the leisure desk at Sunset Beach Club offers organised tours and excursions to the most stunning and emblematic cities in Andalucia, including Granada, Seville and Ronda.
So have we convinced you yet? Are you ready to discover the delights of the Costa del Sol during the winter months? If you’re looking for accommodation, be sure to visit www.sunsetbeachclub.com for fantastic rates! We’re located next to the sea and our comfortable apartments and extensive facilities make for an ideal winter getaway.

Tourist season on the Costa del Sol
The Costa del Sol resort bears such a name for a reason. Translated into Russian, it sounds like “Sunny Beach”. Indeed, a magnificent climate reigns here all year round, accompanied by 325 sunny days a year. The purest Mediterranean Sea, golden sandy beaches, numerous opportunities for water sports, a string of first-class restaurants and bars, incendiary discos and parties, more than 60 golf courses – millions of tourists go to the Costa del Sol for such defiant resort luxury. annually from April to October. Also, this is a favorite vacation spot for couples with children who have appreciated the gentle entrance to the water, the warm sea and the comfortable conditions created for the stay of young travelers.
High season
Summer on the Costa del Sol is hectic, with bustling streets and a cheering crowd of international tourists. Harbors loaded with luxurious snow-white yachts, crowded beaches and coastal cafes, boutiques and outlets stuffed to overflowing – everywhere you look, crowds of tourists are everywhere.
Low season
Things are quite different in the low season, which on the Costa del Sol lasts from November to April, when the ancient history of cities and their natural beauties come to the fore. An exception may be the Christmas holidays, which, as you know, create an unimaginable excitement throughout Spain.

The beach season on the Costa del Sol
As a rule, the water in the Mediterranean Sea on the Costa del Sol warms up by the first days of June
The beach season on the Costa del Sol begins in May, but swimming will only be possible in early June, when the water warms up to 20 °C-21 °C. Such relatively late dates are due to the cold Atlantic current entering the Mediterranean Sea through the Strait of Gibraltar. But as for the duration of the swimming season, it is much longer on Sunny Beach than on the entire southern coast – until mid-October.
The velvet season on the Costa del Sol
The velvet season on the coast is very long
In September, the weather brings a weakening of the summer heat, and the water still remains at the same temperature marks. It becomes safer to sunbathe, while the number of vacationers decreases several times along with fabulous prices. The name of such an attractive “phenomenon” is the velvet season, which comes to an end only in October.
Best time for excursions
Excursion, as well as impressions from it, largely depend on weather conditions
Costa del Sol is a unique place in terms of a rich excursion program. To visit the Tivoli amusement park and the Torremolinos water park, the warm but not hot season is best, namely: May, the first half of June, September and October. A visit to the safari park, acquaintance with the architectural splendor of resort towns is best postponed for the winter period, since the weather allows you to spend a lot of time outdoors.
It’s time for holidays
On the coast, people have fun not only in summer, but also in winter!
The towns of the Costa del Sol resort area are not only good in the dazzling light of artificial (read – “tourist”) spotlights, but also when it comes to true values and traditions. From the end of February to the beginning of March, the entire coast is in the grip of a carnival fever: costumed processions, flower balls, a fun staged procession of the “Sardine Funeral”. Easter is especially enchantingly celebrated in Malaga, where during the solemn procession along the entire city, multi-ton sculptures of scenes of the Passion of the Lord are carried. On the first day of May, the inhabitants of the city of Mijas walk at the opening of the sardine season “Sardinada”, during which up to a ton of fried fish is consumed. “Summer Solstice” or St. Juana is celebrated on the night of June 23 with the obligatory kindling of fires and plentiful feasts. On July 16, they remember St. Carmen, the patroness of all fishermen. On the first Sunday of August, finding yourself in Benalauria, as if you find yourself in the Middle Ages – this is the holiday of the Moors and Christians. October 7 for the whole of Andalusia is a special day “Feria del Rosario”, on which a festive fair opens and horse processions are organized.
Sale season
The Costa del Sol is also an endless opportunity for brilliant shopping. The sales season here takes place twice a year: in winter – from the second week of January to the end of February, in summer – from the first days of July to the end of August.
Climate Costa del Sol
The climate of the Costa del Sol is typical Mediterranean: hot, dry summers, warm and humid winters. As many as 325 sunny days a year earned the fame of the “Coast of the Sun”. The range of temperature fluctuations throughout the year is not large: the minimum air temperature in winter is 6 °C, the maximum summer extreme is +29°C
Costa del Sol in Spring
With the onset of the first month of spring, the air temperature rises sharply
Spring is a magnificent time of the year on the Costa del Sol. Already in March, the air temperature reaches 18 ° C, warming up in April and May to 21 ° C and 23 ° C, respectively. Spring is warm and sunny. And after a light rain, the air becomes especially clean and fresh. But if during the day everyone puts on T-shirts and shorts, then in the evening, willy-nilly, you remember that it’s still not summer outside: the air cools down to 9°C-13 °C. In mid-May, everyone flocks to the beaches – in fact, for which most tourists come here, because the water becomes more or less comfortable for swimming.

Costa del Sol in summer
The resort is hot in summer, but the humidity level is normal
Summer on the Costa del Sol is long, hot and mostly dry. The air warms up sharply to 29°C-30 °C during the peak season, but the water temperature never exceeds 23 °C. This is a distinctive feature of this section of the south coast. In the evening, a refreshing coolness sets in: the thermometer drops, on average, by 10 ° C. Summer “Sunny Beach” is a real kaleidoscope of emotions, tastes, colors and sounds. It’s time for crazy excitement and huge queues.

Costa del Sol in autumn
September and October on the Costa del Sol are warm in summer
Autumn on the Costa del Sol is very warm, especially in its first month. In October and November, the first rains begin to fall, but, nevertheless, the sun and clear skies are simply guaranteed the rest of the time. At night, the air cools down significantly, so warm clothes will be needed in the fall anyway. In general, half of the autumn season on the Costa del Sol is successfully combined with a beach holiday.

Costa del Sol in winter
Winter in the resort promises very warm weather
Due to the fact that the Costa del Sol is surrounded by the Sierra Bermeia mountain range, which protects the coast from the penetration of cold gusty winds, the winter on the Costa del Sol is always mild and warm. The average daily air temperature during this season is 12°C, but even in January, the coldest month of the year, the temperature often rises to 17°C. It usually rains in winter, but they are rather intermittent. A sufficient amount of bright sun allows you to play golf in winter or take a long walk through the narrow streets of cities.

New York weather December
What’s the weather like in New York in December?
New York’s location on the east coast of the United States gives the city continental weather, and the Big Apple’s in the grip of winter in December. Temperatures are chilly and you’ll need a good selection of warm clothes for your trip. Thanks to the movies though, we’ve all seen how enchanting New York can be when snow falls.
Climatic influences
New York has four distinct seasons, and winter’s particularly cold. December’s also the windiest month of the year, so you should pack a hat and scarf to keep the chill at bay. The Appalachian Mountains and offshore winds stop things from getting even colder. New York’s tall buildings and skyscrapers also keep a bit of heat in, and will give you some shelter from the wind when you’re walking the city’s streets.
Averages
The average high in New York’s a chilly 6ºC in December, which drops to -1ºC at night. There’s no such thing as bad weather though, just inappropriate clothing, so bring plenty of warm clothes with you and you’ll be fine. You’ll need a good reason to get in the sea though, which will be as cold as 8ºC. At least humidity’s no problem. There’s 85mm of rain over 12 days. You can expect nine hours of daylight each day with five hours of sunshine at a low UV level. Sunset’s around 4.30pm.

But it is better not to take small children on this trip yet. A cold will not brighten up the holidays for anyone.

Where does this data come from
Weather data for Matagorda was collected from the MERRA-2 project from NASA, which used a climate model combined with historical data from weather stations around the world to estimate what the conditions were like for every point on the Earth.
For all data based on historical data, we’ve averaged the data from the past 11 years (2010-2020). For example, for the hourly temperature at 10am, we’ve looked at the temperature at 10am on every day in December (e.g., December 1, December 2, etc. in 2010, 2011, etc.) and took the arithmetic mean. We did not smooth the data, so for example, our daily temperature line will have some randomness due to the fact that weather is random in the first place.
