The average temperature this month is 27°C (81°F), while the average low is a warm 22°C (72°F), and the average high is a stifling 32°C (90°F). The weather in July stays relatively constant throughout the month. July begins with lots of sun, no threat of rain, and an average daily temperature of 25°C (77°F). The middle of the month continues to produce sunny days with no rain, and an increase of the average daily temperature to 27°C (81°C). The end of July brings weather that is the same for the middle of the month. The lowest ever recorded temperature in Athens in July is 16°C (61°F), while the highest ever recorded temperature is 42°C (108°F).

Sunshine Hours

Just as the two months prior to it, July sees the highest average of daily sunshine in Athens for the year at 10 hours. The warm temperatures and high amount of sun create good conditions for visiting the beach, which is a popular activity this month.

Rainfall

A miniscule amount of rain also makes for good beach days, and in July the average rainfall is just 10mm, happening over the course of only one day.

Average Sea Temperature

Another reason beaches are so popular in July is because of the increased temperature of the sea. The average sea temperature this month is 24°C (75°F), which is considered warm by all, even for extended periods in the water.

Humidity

Although the temperatures reach their peak in July, they fortunately are not accompanied by an increase in humidity. The average humidity this month is just 50%, which is comfortable and unnoticeable, although temperatures this month can be hot enough on their own to create discomfort. There is also an average of zero snow/fog days in July.

Athens Hotels in July

Athens Habitat Apartments offers apartment-style living, with the amenities of staying at a hotel. They have several types of rooms to choose from, and have a few sites located around Athens. Weather in Greece in May

May weather is suitable for older holidaymakers or tourists with small children: at this time of the year it is not hot, the humidity is not too high. The climate of the Balkan Peninsula does not allow strong winds and rains. The sun does not bake these days, so tanning is safe for the skin.

The temperature in Greece in May is suitable for those who do not like the exhausting heat. At the beginning of the month, the maximum air temperature usually does not exceed +22 degrees, and at the end of May it stays at +28 degrees. The water in the sea is not yet warm, so swimming at this time is uncomfortable. The temperature in the Aegean and Ionian Seas is kept at around + 18-19degrees.

Vacationers should take light and warm clothes with them, as the difference between night and day temperatures fluctuates by 10 degrees. Therefore, in the evening, at night and in the morning it will be cold in summer clothes.

If you want to spend more days in the warmth and bask in the sun, then the most suitable areas for recreation are such areas of Greece as:

  • Islands of the Aegean Sea;
  • Crete.

On the peninsula in May cloudy days can last up to 5 consecutive days.

New Year’s tours and New Year’s celebrations in the resorts of Greece

New Year’s tours to Greece are a great opportunity for travelers to look at ancient Hellas from all sides. And also – to study the main traditions of the country at a time and plunge headlong into unusual rituals of celebration.

In Siatista and Aridea, undergo trials and ceremonies of “purification” that involve jumping over bonfires and burning effigies.

In Ioannina, Epirus, join the ancient traditions of congratulations, which the inhabitants of central Greece have not changed for hundreds of years. On the eve of the New Year, people light pine cones, take laurel branches in their hands and, traveling from house to house, spread wishes of good luck, success and prosperity.

In Athens, together with the locals, drive away the evil spirits of the Kalikandzars, who bring devastation and misfortune to the house. For this, forest logs are burned in fireplaces, stoves, special Christmas trees – christoxylo. The smoke from their burning lures evil spirits out of the most secluded corners of the home and creates an incredible festive atmosphere in it.

In Halkidiki, Crete, taste exotic drinks based on fresh fruits, traditional Greek dishes, wish coin pies. And all this against the backdrop of incredible southern nature with a magical flavor.

Property rental offers in Greece for the New Year

Every traveler who chooses Athens or any other resort in Greece as a place to celebrate the New Year can determine the appropriate type of property and rental budget.

This month it costs wonderful weather which is conducive to relaxation. Moreover, many tourists go to rest here this month. Many of them, due to the lack of times in the summer, while others, due to the fact that in the fall there are quite a few tourists, which creates a secluded atmosphere. Be that as it may, but it is in October that the weather here is beautiful. Undoubtedly, at this time in Crete there are rarely days when the air temperature exceeds 25 degrees Celsius , but you can still swim, and “ velvet season is in full swing. Because of this, tourists can book tours and tickets to Crete with complete confidence. In the first days of the month, you can enjoy an active holiday, watch wonderful excursion programs , as well as do shopping and many other activities. Also, do not worry that a trip to Crete in October will be a waste of money and time. And even if this month there is no good weather and warm sea, the island has a huge variety of entertainment and other types of recreation, in addition to, respectively, the beach. Be that as it may, but October in Crete is, although the very end of the tourist season, but optimistic. Also, do not worry that in October on the island of Crete all the time cold weather and cool water, this is not entirely true. Just, the sea has not yet had time to cool down, but the weather gradually begins to gradually begin to resemble autumn, when warm sunny days are continuously replaced by rainy and cold ones.

But if the beach holiday in October did not work out, then in any case, you can be sure that the weather will be favorable for trips around the island and sightseeing, treatment at resorts and active sports. And even though many hotels and summer clubs are already closed for visits by October, it will not be difficult to find a place to sleep or a table in a tavern. First of all, it should be noted that not all establishments in Crete are closed for the winter season. Yes, there are fewer people. And following from this, the cost of living, and prices in Crete in October for car rental, food and drinks gradually decrease . This can save from 20 to 40% , in the event that they are compared with the high summer season. The only problem and the only difficulty is, of course, the reduction of convenient charter flights. But in the event that you go here by ferry with a transfer in Athens, then getting to the island will be very simple. It is also worth noting the unpredictability of the weather. After all, some days say that summer is not delayed yet, when the air temperature rises to +25 , but there are also days when it feels like winter is just around the corner. Such a contradiction does not prevent tourists from enjoying their vacation and swimming in the sea. In addition, most of the sports are still available for visitors to the island, such as surfing or sailing, as the water is still warm and cools very slowly. Anything can be expected in Crete in October.

Weather in Crete in October

0006 autumn month . But this is an unusual autumn, and an autumn with a Mediterranean climate, namely, mild, unhurried and warm enough. Of course, the middle of autumn is no longer hot, but this is a rather big plus, since it is no longer hot on the streets, and allows you to fully enjoy a beach holiday and ordinary excursions . However, for a tan, you should opt for on the first days of the month . It is also worth remembering that in addition to swimsuits and summer clothes, you should definitely take umbrellas, windbreakers and jackets with you. All this can be useful during excursions and just walks. Also, while relaxing at this time, you can ride a boat or do fishing.

October is a confident autumn month, so compared to the previous month, it gets cooler by 2-4 degrees. But even in spite of all this, the average daily air temperature in the first half of the month fluctuates within 23-25 degrees of heat . And towards the end of the month, the average daily air temperature drops to 20-22 degrees Celsius. This is a fairly warm time of the year for autumn. In the event that we talk about the night time, then it fluctuates around 16-18 degrees Celsius, and in mountainous areas, in general, up to 12-14 degrees with a plus sign.

Well, since October is characterized as a typical autumn month, when all sorts of surprises are possible in the form of thunderstorms, rains and clouds. In general, the amount of precipitation per month reaches 40 mm, and is distributed over 6 rainy days. But this is not so much for autumn. In addition, the sun warms here for 6.5 hours a day.

Speaking of the sea, it is still warm, even though the nights are getting longer and colder. At the beginning of the month, the water temperature near the coast is very comfortable for swimming , even for children, as its temperature is kept within 24 degrees Celsius. And towards the end of the month, the water becomes colder and drops to 20-22 degrees Celsius. Moreover, it is worth noting that the water temperature is kept in these areas, regardless of air temperatures. Humidity in Crete is 63% .

Things to do during your holidays

Cool and sometimes even cloudy weather on the island of Crete is perfect for active excursions and sightseeing. Also, it is worth noting that a beach holiday, at this time, you can combine relaxation with an excursion program, and during hiking at mountains , you can even visit a few rural holidays. The most important thing to do in October in Crete is, of course, a beach holiday under the gentle and comfortable rays of the sun. And after that, you can visit cruises to the islands of Santorini or Dia, Knossos Palace , Kera Monastery , Kourtaliot Gorge, Lake Kourna, Agios Nikolaos, Rethymnon and much more. October is a great time for sightseeing and excursions, as the sun is not so hot anymore, which allows you to walk around the island all day without fear of getting burned.

Events in Crete in October

Crete in October hosts a huge variety of holidays, fairs and festivals . For example, the chestnut festival , deserves a visit, where everyone can try them for every taste, including fried ones, as well as enjoy national cuisine and local delicacies. Also, here you can buy fruits, vegetables, nuts and grapes. This holiday cannot be compared with anything in terms of the scope of the celebration and the number of guests. It is held in West Crete on the third week of the month. Sometimes the timing of the celebration is slightly shifted if rain is forecast. Also, numerous agricultural holidays, which are dedicated to the grape harvest, as well as the completion of the olive harvest, when everyone can take one bottle of freshly pressed olive oil as a gift.

On October 28, every year in Greece, Ohi Day is celebrated, which is a public holiday, due to which all banks, institutions and many other establishments are closed. Back in 1940, on the same day, Greece rejected the ultimatum presented by fascist Italy and officially entered World War II. The locals have a particularly reverent attitude towards this holiday, so all the locals know what a real war is. In honor of this day, military, sports, student and school parades are held on October 28. All sorts of fairs begin to work from the very early morning, where you can buy whatever your heart desires. In all squares and central streets, tables are laid for guests who have come to celebrate. But it is also worth noting that on every table there is a gamopilafo dish, namely rice porridge cooked in chicken or lamb broth with the addition of a large piece of meat, fried pork and all kinds of salads. Also, there are always chestnuts on the tables – boiled, fried, baked, in chocolate, in caramel, as part of soufflé and much more. All dishes, from spicy to sweet, are washed down with plenty of young wine. In honor of the holiday, a large number of music and dance groups come here.

In addition to all of the above, the festival “Tsikud’i” or “Raki” is held in October – that is, the festival of the strong alcoholic drink of the same name with a turnover of 36 degrees, and tastes like grape vodka. It is customary to serve it with local products and honey.

Price for holidays

Undoubtedly, in addition to all the above advantages of Crete in October, there is a relatively low cost for holidays . Thus, it is during this month that you can relax in comfort and save money. All this can be explained that October is the beginning of “low season” . In that case, if we compare the cost of vouchers with the summer season, then they are lower by 20%, 30% and even 40% , and the quality of rest will not suffer at all. All tourists still receive comfort, good weather and rich excursions from the rest as in the high season, only at low prices. On average, the cost of a weekly vacation will cost 350-450 euros.

If we talk about shortcomings, then this is, first of all, reduction of flights , especially when it comes to international charters. But due to the fact that the island of Crete is quite an important link in the Greek economy, many local airlines continue to fly to the island every year from the most important airports in Greece. And this means that you can get here at any time of the year if you wish.

An interesting holiday in Crete in June.
