Holidays in Spain on the islands: villas in the Canaries
The Canaries have their own sound for us, few even know that these islands belong to Spain. In the 90s, only “new Russians” went there. Today, ordinary Russian tourists, having thoroughly studied the main island of the Canary archipelago Tenerife, rent villas on other islands that previously knew only European tourists.
Canary Islands
Rent a villa in the Canary Islands, you can sunbathe and swim all year round. You will not find these islands on the map of Europe, as they are located almost off Africa. At the same time, it is not too hot or cold there (on average + 22 ° C in winter and + 26 ° C in summer), and the water temperature in the ocean is always around 20 ° C. So many people are saved in the Canary Islands from the winter cold and dampness.
The Canarian archipelago consists of seven large islands and several smaller ones. Despite the common volcanic origin, the islands are strikingly different from each other. The easiest way to rent a villa or apartment is in Tenerife and Gran Canaria, the most touristic Canary Islands, a little more difficult in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. The islands of La Palma, Gomera and Hierro are mainly visited on excursions.
The islands are connected by car ferries and high-speed rockets. Another feature of the Canary Islands is that many European pensioners have a rest there, there are few youth resorts. In addition, most of the beaches of the Canary Islands consist of almost black volcanic sand, and in many resorts the ocean is fenced off by a breakwater.
Tenerife
Tenerife is the largest, most popular and explored by Russians island of the Canary archipelago. Perhaps, here you can rent the most inexpensive villas and apartments in the Canary Islands. For example, a villa in Las Americas No. 1909 for 4 people near the Bahia del Duc beach can be rented for up to 1000 euros per week. Only in Tenerife from Moscow direct charters regularly fly. The symbol of the island is the huge extinct volcano Teide, on top of which lies snow. The mountains divide the island of Tenerife into two parts with different climates: a green, humid north and arid, sunny south. The beaches are everywhere with large gray volcanic sand, with the exception of the bulk yellow sand beach in the resort of Las Americas.
Tenerife resorts
In the south of Tenerife, in the vicinity of the airport, there are five well-known resorts: the most popular city of hotels, Playa de Las Americas (where you should rent a villa for those who need a vibrant nightlife), the resort with rocky beaches, Playa Paraiso (villas and apartments for rent in complexes with swimming pools) and the town of El Medano, the center of windsurfing. In the north, closer to the Teide volcano, there is only one large resort, Puerto de la Cruz. It can be cloudy here, and in winter it is often impossible to swim because of the high waves. But in Puerto de la Cruz, unlike the southern resorts, the Canaries themselves live, and there is an “old town” with a castle, churches, museums, narrow streets and cobbled squares. It is worth renting a house here for those who want to be closer to entertainment: the largest parrot park “Loro Park”, the botanical garden with orchids Sitio Litre, Martianes Park with large pools. Puerto has black sand beaches.
Gran Canaria Island
Island Gran Canaria is similar to Tenerife. Gran Canaria is also divided by mountains into the always warm south and the humid cooler north. On the other hand, prices are higher here, there are almost no Russian tourists, there are fewer excursions, but there are many golden sandy beaches, and in general it is a couple of degrees warmer than in Tenerife. There are no developed resorts in the north, only beautiful cliffs and old Spanish towns. Most inexpensive villas and apartments are rented in the south of the island in the Maspalomas zone, whose “calling card” is a long beach with sand dunes a la Sahara.
The most noisy and youthful resort of Maspalomas is the high-rise Playa del Inglés (there are the most apartments, bars, discos, gay parties), the most respectable is the quiet and low-rise Campo International. The Meloneras resort is just developing, windsurfers rent housing in Baia Feliz, and go to the thalassotherapy center in quiet San Agustin. Life is in full swing in the capital Las Palmas, the largest city in the Canaries. It is worth going there to take a walk in the historical part of the city, to museums and for bargain shopping – Las Palmas has the status of a free economic zone. But living there is not worth it – up to a thousand ships visit the capital’s port every month. In the picturesque Canarian resort of Puerto de Morgan, which is called the “Canarian Venice” because of the canals and bridges, you can rent a white Andalusian-style villa.

The resort in the Atlantic is again popular with tourists from Russia
on Russia The Canary Islands have many beaches with unusual black-gray sand. Photo: Alexander MILKUS
– Fly eight hours with a transfer to lie down on the beach?! – the friend said sullenly, chewing salted cabbage. – Yes, the same sea and the same hotels in a three-hour flight …
And I thought. For some reason, the Canary Islands didn’t settle down for me as a place of just a carefree beach holiday…
Black sand
Two black-coal rocks jut out into the ocean like watchmen. Between them is the crescent of the beach. Fine dark gray sand. The sun is going down. It must be understood that the sand was roasting for several hours in a row. I try to get close to the water without removing the slates. A couple of years ago, in approximately the same weather on another beach, stepping on the inviting sand, burned my feet almost to blisters. But there was traditional, white, sea sand … What will be the temperature of the black placer?
Beaches for every taste. And in coastal towns, and in deserted bays, and next to hotel pools. Photo: Alexander MILKUS
The foot slips out of the shoe … But for some reason the sand is not at all evil. How so? I asked the locals. The explanation is simple: Tenerife is a volcanic island, however, like all the islands of the Canary archipelago. The beaches are covered with the smallest particles of rock, into which they were crushed by ocean waves. The heat transfer of such sand is completely different than that of light sand washed from the bottom of the sea or river.
It is strange to stomp on coal sand in the heat and not be afraid of getting burned. And it’s very nice…
Help “KP”. The Canary archipelago consists of seven large islands: Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro. Well, a few small ones. They belong to Spain, but are located a hundred kilometers from Africa. So sometimes a dry wind from the Sahara flies here – sirocco, bringing heat. But on the other hand, wet trade winds blow. As a result, there is a sort of “eternal May” in the Canary Islands – in the middle of summer it rarely happens more than +29, and in winter – less than +18. At the same time, ocean water near the coast warms up from +18 to +26.
There are a lot of beaches because there are many beautiful coves. And with gray sand, and sometimes even with white. For example, on the island with the flirtatious name of La Graciosa near the snow-white tourist-demonstrative fishing village.
And yet, indeed, to fly 8 hours from Moscow just to lie down on a beach with unusual sand… The feature of the Canaries is not only and not so much in this. Here you can see something that you will never see in other resorts. Right off the island of adventure.
Of course, in cafes you should take only local fish caught from the ocean.Photo: Alexander MILKUS
Tenerife: all in one
One of the largest Canary Islands – Tenerife – a concentrate of everything interesting for inquisitive families.
Whale trips
Where else can you go on a yacht to watch whales and dolphins for little money? And the swim is not far – 20-30 minutes. Whales live next door here, around the corner. There they are chasing shoals of small fish in clear, sun-drenched water. Whales, however, are small – 6 meters maximum. These are pilot whales or pilot whales. They live near the islands for hundreds of years and curious guests do not bother them at all.
http://www.kp.ru/share/i/4/1246385/big.jpg
If you’re lucky, you can see majestic sperm whales and minke whales. They also have headquarters in the Canary Islands. The price is about 30 euros.
In clear water you can see how dolphins hunt for shoals of small fishPhoto: Alexander MILKUS The most real. They are formed by the Teide volcano. If it’s +25 on the beach on the shore, then at the top of the Teide, where it’s very humane to take an elevator from the foot, it can be no more than 10 degrees Celsius, and a gusty wind forces you to fasten your jacket with all the zippers.
From the very top you can look into the crater of a dormant giant volcano.
Valley near the Teide volcano – bizarre “Martian” landscapesPhoto: Alexander MILKUS
And below at the foot . .. Mars. Almost the real one. It is said that NASA scientists brought their equipment here before sending rovers to the Red Planet. Tested in conditions close to combat.
Ticket price for adults – 25 euros, for children – 12 euros.
Colonial cities
And in the old colonial towns of the island, you can immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Middle Ages. These narrow streets of La Laguna… It seems that here you can still hear the heavy steps of the conquistadors, the rustle of their cloaks and the thin clang of their swords.
Colonial cities of Tenerife. Romantic walks.Photo: Alexander MILKUS
And the carved balconies of La Orotava – talking about the wealth of the owner of the house? And the stylish promenade of Puerto de la Cruz?
Walks, of course, free of charge. But to sit in a local restaurant and have a delicious lunch will cost 15-20 euros per person.
LORO-Park
Wealthy German Wolfgang Kiesling collected here all kinds of parrots that live in the world. Are there really so many of them – these smart motley birds? The park is 45 years old. And gradually the collection of animals grew here. Animals in trouble were transferred to the park and nursed here. Over time, they also engaged in scientific work. As a result, the “parrot park” has turned into an amazing zoo. Solemn penguins, gorillas, tigers, pandas, sloths, crocodiles and jaguars live here. There is a pool in the jellyfish. Well, killer whales, dolphins and fur seals arrange their shows here.
In addition to parrots, dozens of different species of animals live in Loro Park.Photo: Social networks
Tickets – adult 33 euros, children – 22 euros.
SIAM Park and Pueblo Chico Miniature Park
Another reason to visit Tenerife with children. SIAM Park is a large water entertainment center on the island. And in the park of miniatures, all the most famous architectural sights of the Canary archipelago are skillfully recreated.
Flamenco
Flamenco – fire dance!
This dance is an export product of Spain, like dried pork – jamon, olive oil and goat cheese. In any tourist town – both on the mainland and on the islands – this mixture of tap dancing and ornate hand movements will be performed in a form adapted for guests to a piercingly sensual scream or moan of a singer (singer). In fact, this Andalusian gypsy dance and the Spaniards believe that it is the people from this southern province who are the real flamenco speakers. But where is Andalusia, and where is the Canaries? From the show “Anthology” one could expect “exemplary dance” within the normal tourist program. Moreover, the show is shown six days a week – a conveyor. But no – the Spanish choreographer Carmen Mota staged a unique performance during which seven sweats come off the dancers. She managed to tell the story of flamenco in dance and build a whole performance to the famous classical music, which, it turns out, is quite compatible with the heartfelt suffering of the Spanish gypsies.
Tickets – about 50 euros
Lanzarote im. Cesar Manrique
This is on the map of the Canary Islands side by side, like a husk from seeds under a bench. From Tenerife to Lanzarote, the flight is almost an hour by motor plane. Or by ferry – a pleasant boat trip will take about six hours.
Lanzarote is an island of three hundred volcanoes. Some are still quite active.Photo: Alexander MILKUS
The name of the island in the early 2000s became a household name among European intellectuals thanks to a vulgar and misanthropic novel by Michel Houellebecq. In fact, the author’s sarcastic notes and his sexual fantasies, in my opinion, have nothing to do with one of the Canary Islands. Lanzarote has a very different spirit. I would say: this is the island of one architect.
Without Gaudí, Barcelona would certainly have remained a great city and a powerful port. But its pretentious and illogical houses, the great temple of the Sagrada Familia, the glittering Park Güell – this is the “Catalan cream” that gives Barcelona a special taste.
In this sense, Lanzarote is an even greater architectural and design project. Having given the island to the sculptor, artist, architect, musician Cesar Manrique in the 60s of the last century – and he was from these places – the authorities, of course, took a big risk. But the result was fantastic. Manrique “connected” all the sights of the island with a single style. And he created several new ones, strikingly inscribing three hundred volcanoes into the general mood of the island (that’s how many geologists counted here).
Lanzarote’s observation deck is a marvel in itself. And when it was designed by Cesar Manrique… Photo: Alexandre MILKUS
And the El Diablo restaurant with a shop at the very top of the Timanfaya National Park (around the multi-colored fields of hardened lava fields formed after a devastating six-year eruption at the beginning of the 18th century. And a cave Cueva de los Verdes, formed by lava. And the Cactus Park. And the observation deck Mirador del Rio. And even the winery-museum of El Grifo. All these are the “children” of Cesar Manrique. Everything is decorated in the same style – when concrete and glass architectural standards are not imposed on nature. fashion, and carefully emphasizes what is created by the wind, ocean waves and powerful volcanoes. 0005
Timple – Canarian guitar. A tiny…Photo: Alexander MILKUS
The Cueva de los Verdes Cave was turned by Manrique into a sightseeing route, a restaurant and even a small concert hall, where musicians play the timple, a tiny local guitar, time and time again. It is handmade on the island. It is some kind of amazing pleasure – to listen to music in a cave, the vaults of which are fashioned by nature itself, and to watch how dimmed lights are reflected in a blue lake that looks like a huge mirror.
Cactus Park.Photo: Alexander MILKUS
Tickets to the cactus park: adults €5.50, children €2.75. But you can buy tickets for several attractions at once and trips there will be much cheaper.
You will not see such unusual vineyards anywhere else. Well, the wine here is also special. Photo: Alexander MILKUS
Another miracle of Lanzarote is the vineyards. No, they were not sculpted by Manrique. But, I think, he borrowed smooth, rounded lines for the design of his structures from here. The fact is that it is windy on the island and the vine cannot grow here as well as on the mainland – up, leaning on a stretched wire. For each vine, a deep hole is dug in the gray-black volcanic soil. And from above, the grapes are protected by a low stone semicircle. Hundreds of such holes climbing the slopes of volcanoes create an amazing, unique landscape. And, of course, local wine – first of all, malvasia (sweet, semi-sweet and even dry), differs in taste from other Spanish wines. It is worth taking it with you as a keepsake.
Local wine – from 6 euros per bottle.

Torre del Conde (Spanish: Torre del Conde) is located in the park of the same name, in the capital of the island of La Gomera – San Sebastian (Canary Islands, Spain). This is the only tower in the Canary Islands, built in the Gothic style in 1447-1450. The tower consists of stone blocks, its height is 15 meters and its diameter is 40 meters, the thickness of the walls is 2 meters.
Torre del Conde was built by the first lord of La Gomera, Hernán Peraza el Viejo. Its purpose was mainly defensive, due to the lack of space for the installation of artillery pieces, and it was also the representative office of the ruling power on the island.
In 1488, a very important historical moment takes place on the island of La Gomera. After the death of Hernán Perez Sr., he left behind a pact concluded between the two cantons (territorial-administrative unit) of Mulagua (Mulagua – Hermigua / Agulo) and Ipalan (Hipalán – San Sebastián).
The island among the Gomers was divided into four cantons – Mulagua, Ipalana, Orone (Orone – Alajeró/Arure/Valle G.Rey) and Agana (Agana – Vallehermoso).
The pact speaks of kinship, twinning between the inhabitants of the two cantons and the Castilians. This very pact was not respected by Hernán Péreza Jr. (grandson of Hernán Péreza Sr.), who ruled the island of La Gomera in a despotic manner. His actions, such as the conversion of the natives into slavery, the forcible coercion to Christianity, led to the discontent of the natives. The last straw of patience was the love relationship with the girl Yballa from among the natives of the canton of Ipalan and Hernan Perez, with whom the “Pact of Guahedum” was concluded, making them brother and sister by agreement.
Hernán Pérez Jr. was already married to Beatriz de Bobadilla at that time. The wedding took place in 1482 by order of Isabella I (Queen of Castile). This marriage was one of the conditions for Peraz to receive a royal pardon for participating in the assassination of the conquistador captain Juan Rejón on the island of La Gomera.
Private excursion to La Gomera
Revolt and assassination of Hernán Perez
While Yballa and Hernan were together in Guahedum Cave, they are surrounded by natives led by the warrior Hautacuperche, who is a close relative of Yballa. Since Hernan Perez violated the pact concluded by his grandfather between the Gomers, they wait for him until he leaves the cave to the rebels, and at that moment he is pierced by the spear of Hautakuperche. The Homerians also kill the attendant accompanying him and begin to follow his squire, who sets off on the run to the tower of Torre del Conde. At this time, the uprising of the natives-Gomers begins.
The elite Castilians of the island are hiding in the tower together with Beatriz de Bobadilla. Soon she turns for help to the governor of the island of Gran Canaria – Pedro de Vera (Pedro de Vera). Arriving on the island with four people, he suppresses the uprising of the natives. Being a cruel and notorious conquistador, he fraudulently promises forgiveness to the Homers, to those who will be present at the farewell ceremony of Hernan Perez. But having broken his promise, he surrounds and seizes the natives. He executes those people who participate in the murder of Perez, he expels the rest of the four cantons and sells them into slavery, including children and women, kills many in fear of a second uprising. Later, a lawsuit initiated by the Franciscan monk and Bishop of Gran Canaria, Frey Miguel López de la Serna, frees the surviving Homers from slavery and imprisonment.
This last intervention by Pedro de Vera in the island life of La Gomera is regarded by historians as the effective and final conquest of the island.
After being released from the Torre del Conde and having buried her husband, Béatrice de Bobadilla takes over the government of La Gomera on behalf of her son Guillén. She then supplies the ships of Christopher Columbus in 1492, 1493 and 1498 when he travels to America.
Since its construction, Torre del Conde has been restored several times by masters Jacques Peleolo Fratin and Leonardo Torriani.

Puerta del Conde – GoDominicanRepublic.com
Puerta del Conde is one of the most emblematic places in the Dominican Republic. Being part of the old fortress wall of the Colonial City, which protected it from enemy attacks, this old gate remembers how on February 27, 1844, one of the founding fathers of the Dominican Republic, Francisco del Rosario Sanchez, first raised the Dominican flag here and proclaimed the independence of the country. Gate Puerta del Conde, named after the Count of Peñalba, former captain general of Santo Domingo who successfully defended the city against the onslaught of British invaders in 1655, now serves as the main entrance to Independencia Park, home to the Mausoleum of the Founding Fathers . The gate also faces the start of El Conde Street. Every year on Independence Day and other public holidays, the President of the Dominican Republic visits Independencia Park to pay tribute to the national heroes of his country. Above the arch of Puerta del Conde you can see the inscription in Latin: iDulce et Decori est pro patria morii, or “It is sweet and honorable to die for the motherland.”

Lanzarote Airport
Lanzarote Airport
Lanzarote
Airport, located 5 kilometres from Arrecife,
is extremely important for tourism development on the island.
Most of the traffic at the airport comes from European
Union countries. The United Kingdom and Germany account for almost 69%
of international traffic.
Domestic traffic is concentrated around three destinations:
Madrid-Barajas, Gran Canaria and Tenerife Norte.
In 2005 a total of 5,467,499 passengers were handled.
There were 47,158 operations and over 6,629 tonnes of goods were transported.
The excellent Lanzarote weather means that the tourists
arrive here all year round.
It handles some 5.5 million passengers per year and is
the 8th busiest Airport in Spain. In Spanish the airport is knwon as Aeropuerto
de Lanzarote.
Over the past seven years, Lanzarote airport has experienced
considerable growth in aircraft and passenger traffic. In 1997, it exceeded
four million passengers, in 1998 four and a half, and in the year 2000
more than five million passengers were recorded.
In 2003, the airport also surpassed its historic passenger
traffic record, with 5,383,208

History
The need to fly over Lanzarote on the Seville-Canary Islands route resulted
in the construction of an ancillary air field at Llanos de Guacimeta,
in 1936; this was the first step towards the creation of an aerodrome
on the island.
In the mid 1940s, the Air Force approved the construction
of an aerodrome on Lanzarote, as part of a defence plan for the Canary
Islands. The aerodrome was located five kilometres west of Arrecife, on
the Guacimeta coast, within the municipality of San Bartolomé.
In 1946, Lanzarote airport was provisionally opened to
civil traffic, and part of the building that housed the military annexes
was used for the purpose. A year later, it was officially opened to domestic
air traffic.
During the 50’s repair and alteration work was carried
out to the runway, an apron was built to park aircraft, and measures were
taken to give the airport a paved runway.
In 1965 the Lanzarote Island Council was assigned to build
a 1850 by 45 metre hard runway. Provisional lighting was installed on
the new runway, thereby enabling the airport to be opened to night traffic
on request.
In 1969, construction work was carried out on a new passenger
terminal building, an apron for aircraft, a connecting strip, the extension
of the runway, a transmission centre, technical block and general planning.
After the work, the airport remained classified as second category and,
finally, on 3 March 1970, it was opened to civil national and international
passenger air traffic.
First category airport
The constant increase in passenger traffic led to a further
extension and improvement of the airport. Most important among the works
were: the installation of a DME linked to the VOR, a VASIS at departure
points 04/22, the entry into service of new runway lighting to replace
the portable ones, a fire station, a new urban development, the extension
of the aircraft parking area to 80,000 square metres, a rapid exit road
and the extension of the passenger terminal to 4800 square metres. The
new facilities meant the airport moved up to the category one, for the
purposes of the airport laws.
In 1988, additional extension and alteration work was
carried out to the airport to cover the existing demand. The terminal
came to have a surface area of 14,000 square metres. In addition, to increase
the operating capacity, a taxiway was built parallel to the runway and
the parking area was extended to 149,000 square metres.
In 1999 the new passenger terminal was opened with a surface
area of 42,000 square metres and sufficient capacity to meet the demands
of six million passengers a year. The terminal is made up of two floors
and has 42 check-in counters, including special luggage counters, eight
baggage reclaim belts, twelve boarding gates and six skywalks for direct
access to aeroplanes. The facilities are rounded off with new accesses,
parking for vehicles and a control tower.

Death of a UK Citizen in Lanzarote
It is Spanish law that a body must be preserved or embalmed within 48 hours of death. The next of kin will be informed by the authorities to find out if the body is being repatriated to the UK or if there will be a local burial / cremation.
If the deceased is covered by travel insurance the insurers need to be notified immediately, they will make arrangements with a local funeral director to repatriate the body. A special casket is required for the transport along with certificates for the death, embalming and permission to transport the body, arrangements will take 8-10 days.
If the decision is for a local burial or cremation then the next of kin need to contact a local funeral director to make the arrangements. A burial in Spain is normally above ground, the body is placed in a crypt for 5 years unless purchased in perpetuity. Cremations are now more popular and it is much easier to make arrangements to transport the ashes back to the UK. Please note that airline regulations stipulate that ashes must be transported in the cargo hold.

Car Hire Lanzarote Airport (ACE)
Find the cheapest quotes search at 1,200 car rental companies
Lanzarote Airport is located five kilometers from the capital of the island, which is Arrecife. You can get this ideal location by means of car rental services that are provided from various car rental companies that are located inside the airport terminal. This makes it easy for travelers to get transportation and a guide to take you on a tour. Some of the car rentals can be booked soon using the telephone directory and the official websites that are put in place for this purpose.Experience Spain’s temperate weather climate, which is why most people prefer this county’s outdoor activities to enjoy a wide range of activities.
In cold weather, the temperature regulate seventeen degrees Celsius, which is still favorable for a tour to Spain. During this period you can enjoy cycling, hiking and even camel riding. Sunny days are also not left in this incredible city, you can enjoy sunbathing, diving and surfing, which is most popular due to favorable winds and reefs. Most of the surf competitors travel to various resorts in Lanzarote for a workout, which is why car rental services are well promoted. Car rental services are reliable at Lanzarote airportand you can choose the type of car you prefer to use depending on the luggage and the number of people you are traveling with.
If you are traveling with your family, you can look for a van from one of the Car Hire Rentals to ensure the space and safety of your goods. Each car rental company at Lanzarote airportis identified with a logo that represents the name of the company and it’s up to you for the customer to choose the one that suits your needs. Although the prices and requirements are well stated for each car, you need to check every detail before taking a tour to Spain to avoid additional costs.
Another factor to note about Car Rental Services in Spain is that each rental company has different terms and conditions of use for cars and you should always look out for the one with the best deals. While there are bus terminals that are set up for various routes from Lanzarote Airport, it’s more flexible and convenient to tour the city with a rental car, especially if you’re new to the state.
Spain is made up not only of volcanic eruptions, but also of museums and parks such as Timanfaya, which is designed specifically for botanical views. The best way of obtaining this destination is by renting a car, which is approximately forty five minutes from Lanzarote Airport. Here you get to enjoy a variety of seafood and other dishes that are imported from other states.

The Canary Islands are an archipelago of volcanic islands located in the Atlantic Ocean. The history of the Canary Islands is very interesting and rich. It was here that Columbus made his last stop before the discovery of America. Homer’s Island became a window from Europe to the New World, and the Canary Islands became widely known. Many states of the century fought for the archipelago, but the Canaries continue to remain under the control of Spain.
Canary Islands on the map:
Finding the Canary Islands on the map is easy, they are located near the northwestern coast of Africa, Morocco and Western Sahara. Geographically, the archipelago is part of the Macaronesia group of volcanic islands (Cape Verde Islands, Azores, Madeira and Selvages).
Which islands are part of the Canaries?
The Canary Islands include 7 large inhabited islands and several small ones that have hardly been touched by civilization. The inhabited islands are:
Gomera,
Fuerteventura,
Lanzarote,
Hierro
Palm.
Tenerife is the largest densely populated island with a developed tourist infrastructure. Here is the highest point in Spain – the Teide volcano, and it is here that the Canary Islands begin.
Climate and weather in the Canary Islands
One of the main assets of the Canary Islands is its unique climate, moderately hot and dry. The water temperature during the year does not fall below 20 ° C, and most days the sun shines. The Canary Islands are often referred to as the islands of eternal spring because of the wonderful weather.
In general, the weather on the islands throughout the year is warm and clear, the change of seasons is almost imperceptible. The big advantage of the Canary Islands is the lack of acclimatization even for those coming from the northern regions.
Nature of the Canary Islands
Due to its volcanic origin, the Canary Islands boast unique black volcanic beaches, diverse flora and fauna. Here you can walk through tropical and pine forests, then find yourself on sand dunes and beaches with golden sand. By the way, 4 islands are declared national parks of Spain, two of them are under the protection of UNESCO.
Holidays in the Canary Islands
It used to be that holidays in the Canary Islands were quite expensive and inaccessible. Today, the number of vacationers many times exceeds the number of local residents. This is a great alternative to vacations in neighboring African countries during the winter. The archipelago is great for a beach holiday and holidays with children. Fans of outdoor activities will not be bored either: diving, surfing, sea fishing, paragliding in tandem and other sports are very developed in the Canaries.
Tours to the Canary Islands
The healthy climate and warm weather make the Canary Islands attractive for tourists at any time of the year. You can buy a tour in Tenerife or another island from several tour operators, the average cost of the tour is from 800 euros / person for 7 nights. By the way, many hotels operate according to the beloved all-inclusive system.
Yachting in the Canaries
Short distances between the islands, evenly blowing trade winds and excellent weather create comfortable conditions for sailing in the Canary Islands. The yachting infrastructure is improving every year, a large number of marinas with related services and yacht clubs. Many northern European ships come to the Canary Islands for a warm winter.
Warm sea, unique beaches, beautiful bays – the Canary Islands are an ideal place for sailing from November to March. As part of a weekly yachting it is possible to visit Tenerife, La Gomera, La Palma or Gran Canaria. If you want to see all the islands, then such a trip will take from two weeks. Start and finish, as a rule, in Tenerife.
A nice bonus for yachting: storms and hurricanes are very rare here. Check out ours or take advantage of our own fleet, our prices will pleasantly surprise you.
New Year in the Canary Islands
We definitely recommend celebrating the New Year in Tenerife. New Year holidays last 12 days. It all starts with a quiet family holiday of Catholic Christmas on December 25th. On January 1, lively celebrations take place in the city squares and promenades in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Puerto Santiago and Las Americas.
If you come to the city square and eat 12 grapes, each grape will bring good luck in the new year. The Day of the Three Wise Men completes the series of New Year holidays. Magnificent processions on horses and camels are accompanied by presenting all those present with gifts and sweets.
Canary Islands visa
The Canary Islands are legally owned by Spain, which means they are subject to EU rules and require a Schengen visa to enter.
Canary Islands (Las Islas Canarias) are located in the Atlantic Ocean. Geographically, this is the north-west of Africa (only 100 km to the coast of Morocco), but they belong to Spain, which is more than 1000 km away. The islands are of volcanic origin and consist of 7 large and 6 small islands with a total area of 7500 sq. km.
The largest and most populous island is located in the center of the archipelago – the island of “Eternal Spring” Tenerife (2057 sq. km).
Three smaller islands to the east: Gran Canaria (2532 sq. km.), Fuerteventura (1730 sq. km.) and Lanzarote (795 sq. km.). West of Tenerife: La Gomera (378 sq. km.), Hierro Island (277 sq. km.) and Palma Island (728 sq. km).
2 km. from Fuerteventura is the uninhabited Lobos, and to the north of Lanzarote is the Chinijo archipelago, consisting of five islets, one of which, O. Graciosa, is inhabited. History of the origin of the Canary Islands
The origin of the Canary Islands is associated with the myth of Atlantis – the mainland, which plunged into the abyss of the Atlantic Ocean, and these small islands are considered heavenly corners of the Earth. However, true historical events are devoid of romance.
The indigenous people, the Guanches, whose exact origin is unknown, have been and remain one of the biggest historical mysteries. Guanches are tall, fair-skinned, blond, often red-haired and blue-eyed.
They spoke only slightly moving their lips and without uttering a sound, they had access to the whistling language “silbo”, which they used to transmit information over long distances (up to 15 km.), As well as a completely unique system of hieroglyphic writing.
They mastered the art of mummification of the dead, bred bardino shepherd dogs, possessed the original art of stone processing and special architecture. At the same time, they lived at the level of the primitive communal system and they did not have anything resembling a fleet or shipbuilding.
In addition, the features of the anthropological type of the Guanches (mechtoid race) are not typical for the latitudes of their habitat.
Due to their geographical location, the islands have been a tidbit and a target for capture and possession for many centuries.
Arab sailors visited islands in the 12th century , in the XII century – French, in the XIV – Portuguese and Spanish.
Local residents, the Guanches, who had stone-tipped spears as weapons, fought desperately for their territories, but the plague epidemic greatly weakened their positions and in December 1495 A.D. the natives had to admit their defeat.
The Spaniards completely took possession of the archipelago. Together with the conquerors, technical progress also came to the islands, and after the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus in 1492, the islands turned into the most important maritime transit transport point.
on the way from the Old World to the New.
The extraction of high-quality clay for pottery production was established on the islands, sugar was produced from local cane, winemaking developed, the Canary Islands are famous for their rum. Developed commercial relations with America, Europe, the British Isles.
Decree of free ports appeared in 1852 , which established a free commercial regime on the islands, a kind of offshore zone. By the beginning of the 20th century, a crisis in relations between the two main cities, Santa Cruz and Las Palmas, emerged on the islands. The political struggle complicated the economic development of the entire region as a whole. The solution to the problem was found in 1927 – the unified province of Canaria was legally divided into two.
They still exist – the province of Las Palmas and the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. And only in the sixties of the XX century, after long post-war years, the excellent weather conditions and the beauty of these heavenly places were in demand by tourists. The construction business, the hotel and restaurant business, the real estate sector and the service sector began to develop.
Today luxurious beaches, museums and galleries await tourists in the Canary Islands , theme parks, shopping centers, casinos and nightclubs, theaters. This is an international center of tourism and recreation, which receives guests, thanks to its climate, all year round.

Climate in the Canary Islands moderately hot, mild and comfortable for relaxing. Summers are not very hot, winters are warm with little rainfall. The water temperature is almost constant and does not fall below +18C in the winter months, +21C in April-May, from June to November the water temperature on the beaches reaches +23+24C. For those who like to splash in warm water, this is the best time to relax on the islands.

The hottest month is August. The average temperature during the day is + 30C, in the evening + 26C.
The presence of the cold Canary current softens the August heat and it will not interfere with a comfortable stay. Thanks to the mountain ranges that divide the islands of Tenerife, Gran Canaria and La Palma, there is a great difference in weather and climate between north and south. Strong winds and moisture-saturated clouds cannot overcome the mountain ranges, therefore, in the southern regions of the islands, almost , the weather is sunny and dry all year round. . From the sweltering heat (a dry sultry wind blows to these islands from the African coast), the northeast wet and cool trade winds save .

In the northern part of the islands the weather is more changeable and windy, but these areas boast their lush vegetation and excellent conditions for more active recreation – surfing. Climatic conditions make the Canary Islands a year-round resort.
The Canary Islands (Spanish: Las Islas Canarias, literally – “dog islands”) – an archipelago of seven islands of volcanic origin in the Atlantic Ocean, off the northwestern coast of Africa (Morocco and Western Sahara).
The islands belong to Spain and are one of the autonomous communities of this country.
There are two capitals, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, but until 1927 Santa Cruz de Tenerife was the only capital.
Homeland of canaries.
The mild climate has attracted people to the Canary Islands since ancient times.
The history of the islands is very mysterious. The Canaries are supposedly the remnants of Atlantis. The Greeks placed here the gardens of the Hesperides; for centuries they have been referred to as the “Happy Islands”. Currently, the Canary Islands are one of the most important centers of European tourism.
Geographic information
The Canary Islands (Islas Canarias in Spanish) are washed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Together with Madeira and the Azores to the north and the Cape Verde Islands to the south, they form what is commonly referred to as “Macronesia”. The Canary Islands are located about 400 km from Madeira and 100-150 km from the northwest coast of Africa. The island of Fuerteventura, located in the southeastern part of the archipelago, lies 92 km from Cap Juby, the southernmost point of Morocco. A little further south is Western Sahara, a former colony of Spain. The Canary Islands still belong to Spain, which is located in the northeast of them at a distance of 1500 km.
The total area of the islands is 7500 sq. km. From east to west, the islands stretch for 500 km (between the islands of Palma and Lanzarote), and from north to south for 200 km.
There are seven main inhabited islands in the archipelago. In the center is the largest – the island of Tenerife (2057 sq. km). In the east there are three smaller islands: Gomera (378 sq. km), Hierro (277 sq. km) and Palma (728 sq. km). To the west of Tenerife is the island of Gran Canaria (1532 sq. km) – the third largest island in the archipelago. Then come the islands of Fuerteventura (1731 sq. km) and Lanzarote (795 sq. km). Four very small islands should be added to these islands: the island of Graciosa (the only one inhabited) – 27 sq. km; Alegranza island – 10 sq. km; the island of Montagna Clara – 1 sq. km north of the island of Lanzarote; Lobos island – 6 sq. km at the northern tip of the island of Fuerteventura. And finally, to the north of the island of Lanzarote, there are two very tiny islands, Roque del Oste and Roque del Este. Total – 13 islands.
The highest point of the islands is Pico del Teide (3718 m) on the island of Tenerife, which makes the island the highest in the Atlantic Ocean. Of all the other islands, only the island of Palma with the mountain Roque de los Muchachos exceeds 2000 m.
Government
The Canaries are one of the 17 autonomous regions of Spain. The region is divided into two provinces (the whole of Spain is divided into 50 provinces). The Western Province includes the islands of Tenerife, Palma, Gomera and Hierro and is called the Province of Tenerife. The eastern province, called Gran Canaria, includes the islands of Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. The capital of the western province is the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The capital of the eastern province is Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Within the Provinces, each of the seven islands enjoys great autonomy. Each of them is managed by an island council, has a decent budget and the right to independently solve many autonomous problems, for example, in the field of health, urban planning, water supply, culture and tourism. The latter brings a number of inconveniences for tourists, especially those who would like to visit several islands at once.
Climate
The weather of the south coast of almost all the islands is a year-round hot summer with cloudless skies and an average temperature of 25°C. At the top of Mount Teide, the snow sometimes melts only in May. The Canary Islands have a moderately hot climate, which is moderated by the trade winds blowing from north to east and the cold current of the Atlantic Ocean, which is also called the Canary, and the anticyclone over the Azores provides constant good weather. Temperature fluctuations are expressed very weakly. On the coast, the temperature rarely drops below 10°C and rarely rises above 25°C in winter, while in summer the temperature rarely falls below 20°C, but often exceeds 40°C. Despite these temperature fluctuations between maximum and minimum, the difference between the average temperature of the coldest month and the hottest is no more than 7°C. The water temperature is even more constant. It never drops below 20°C. Almost the entire amount of precipitation falls from mid-October to mid-April.
The Canary Islands can be visited throughout the year. Here all year round there are all conditions for relaxing in seaside resorts and walking in the mountains. But the peak season starts from the end of July and ends at the beginning of October, and then a huge number of people come here at the end of February for the Carnival de Tenerife, which lasts until mid-March.
Population
Ethnically, the population of the islands is homogeneous – these are Canarians, who consider themselves descendants of the Guanches – the indigenous inhabitants of the Canary Islands before the arrival of the Spaniards. According to linguists, they spoke a language belonging to the Berber language group. For several centuries, Spain conquered the Canary Islands and by the end of the 15th century. finally mastered them. Part of the Guanches was destroyed, the other quickly mixed with the Spaniards. In addition to the Canarians, small groups of Spaniards and other Europeans, as well as Africans, Indians, and others live on the islands.
Language
The official language is Spanish. The Canarians speak Castilian, but much softer and faster than the Spaniards on the mainland. In addition, the Canarian vocabulary is very rich in words and expressions that came mainly from the Guanche language, but also from Portuguese and English.
Religion
Almost the entire population of the Canary Islands is Christian. Christianity began to spread here from the beginning of the 15th century, when four large islands were captured by the Spaniards. Almost all Canarians are supporters of the Roman Catholic Church. Catholicism is deeply rooted in the life of the locals. There are many Catholic cathedrals, churches and other places of worship in the Canary Islands.
Protestantism is followed by an insignificant part of the population of the Canary Islands. These are local residents – Canarians, and foreigners – Americans, British, a small number of Spaniards from the continent, etc.
There are also groups of foreigners who practice Islam or Hinduism in the Canary Islands. These are mainly people from North Africa and South Asia.
Cuisine
Canarian cuisine is very simple, but at the same time very wise and has a wide range of taste sensations. A climate of great diversity, the use of simple and ordinary products are the main factors influencing the traditional gastronomy of these islands. The fish caught here has an exquisite taste and is in no way inferior to the fish from the Bay of Biscay. The fish is usually served boiled or with a sauce made from vegetable oil, vinegar and capsicum.
A very popular dish is called “carne de fiesta” – “celebration meat”, which is prepared from pork in a special marinade with pers and grilled (las perrilladas). Usually these dishes are served with potatoes. “Papas arrugadas” (shriveled potato, “in uniform”) is a potato boiled in sea water. Potatoes grown on the islands have excellent taste. Of the various varieties, differing in size, color and properties, the most valuable varieties are considered “papas bonitas” and “papas negras”. It is impossible not to try the Canarian desserts. Most of the sweet dishes in Tenerife are eaten with palm honey (miel de palmera), which is made in Gomera. Try also sweet palm juice (guarapo).
The cheeses here are usually very delicate, made from goat’s milk and served as an appetizer, such as quesillo. It is impossible not to try local fruits: avocado, papaya, guava, melon, mango, pineapple. As well as other desserts: delicious egg and sugar flan pudding, sweets with honey and nuts (bienmesabe), baked milk (leche asada).
National characteristics
The inhabitants of the Canary Islands have a pleasant and cheerful character, and they are very fond of all kinds of holidays. Many traditional holidays have been preserved on the island, among which, without a doubt, the famous carnivals stand out. A rare resident does not prepare his carnival costume in a few months or does not participate in street orchestras. The center of the carnival is Santa Cruz, whose streets during the holiday turn into a continuous stream of dances and masks, and where music and songs do not stop for several days. Carnival is held in February. Popular and beloved holidays in Tenerife include romerias, religious holidays of the patron saint of a city.
During these events, you can see the procession of bulls harnessed to original carts, hear folk songs. Usually all participants of the holiday are dressed in national costumes. The Feast of Corpus Christi is another typical religious celebration that is usually held in La Orotava. A distinctive feature of this holiday is beautiful multi-colored carpets made of flowers.
And in the central square you can admire the beauty of “tapestry” made from special volcanic sands taken from Las Canadas del Teide. An interesting feast of St. Andrew, held on the night of 29november. On this day, according to tradition, wine cellars are opened and young wine is tasted. A unique online photoshop site that allows you to create photo effects online. And in cities like La Orotava or Puerto de la Cruz, residents, mostly young people, run through the streets with bundles of empty tin cans that bang on the cobblestones and make a terrible noise. In the city of Icod, young people ride wooden boards along the steep streets.
The Canary Islands are rightly called the place of eternal spring, where it never rains or bad weather. The mild climate, valleys surrounded by greenery, picturesque beaches and bizarre rocks have made the Canary Islands one of the most famous places on the planet, where everyone dreams of visiting.
Officially, the Canary Islands belong to Spain and are its autonomous province, but the local views and general atmosphere have little in common with Europe. People come here for the exotic. The unique natural conditions of this place have no analogues. Magnificent beaches and beautiful landscapes, as well as accessibility (just a few hours of flight from Europe) and well-developed tourist infrastructure – all this makes the Canary Islands one of the most popular resorts that has long earned worldwide recognition.
The Canarian archipelago consists of seven main islands and several smaller ones. Of course, each island is unique and interesting in its own way, but Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria are the most popular among vacationers. Gran Canaria and Tenerife have the best developed tourist and hotel infrastructure: there are the most luxurious hotels and a lot of opportunities for any kind of recreation and entertainment. Climate and weather
The Canary Islands have a tropical trade wind climate, which results in moderately hot and dry weather. Moreover, from the point of view of the level of humidity and precipitation, as well as the number of sunny days, the climate of the Canary Islands is recognized as almost ideal. Literally the whole year there is dry, sunny, comfortable weather: in summer the air temperature is +24…26 °C , and in winter – + 18…20 °С . The water temperature is constant all year round and never drops below +19 °С , and on average keeps within +20…+25 °С .
It is worth saying that if it is warm on the coast of the islands, then it is always cool in the mountainous regions. Also, from time to time, the African sirocco wind, suffocating and dusty, reaches the Canary Islands.
You can visit the Canary Islands throughout the year, but the peak of the beach season falls between mid-July and October.
Nature
The Canarian archipelago, which consists of 13 islands of volcanic origin, lies near the northwestern coast of Africa and is washed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The largest islands of the archipelago are Tenerife, Gomera, Palma, Hierro, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote.

Attractions
The main attractions of the Canary Islands are, without a doubt, its natural treasures and magnificent beaches, which are simply impossible to enumerate. However, there are also man-made objects that deserve attention and admiration. For example, in the northwest of the island of Gran Canaria is the ancient city of Galdar . Now on the territory where they are located, there is an Ethnography Park with a museum Casa Chacona , gift shop, cinema and cafeteria.
Loro Park is also very popular among tourists. , which boasts a huge number of parrots, as well as an aquarium, penguinarium and Orchid House. Another interesting island park is Teide , which attracts tourists with a rare sight – a huge crater of an extinct volcano.

You can’t visit the Canary Islands and not see Cliffs of the Giants , which are magnificent rock formations, mountains and with traces of archaeological excavations and Hell’s Gorge waterfall, and Dragon Tree in which is over 1000 years old.
Dining
To taste authentic Canarian cuisine, we recommend visiting places with the word 9 in their names0849
. The local cuisine has much in common with Spanish traditions, so treats such as “paella” with seafood or chicken and “tortilla” made of potatoes are widespread here. In addition, Canarian chefs can boast of their own inventions. Firstly, these are fish and seafood dishes: “sardinas” (boiled fish), “sakonho” (dried fish with garlic and sweet potatoes), zarzuela (fish soup), roast tuna, sole, octopus and squid meat, etc.
No less popular in the Canary Islands are meat dishes. Among them, “carne de fiesta” are most often offered marinated pork or goat meat, conejo en salmorejo (rabbit dish) and puchero (stew of beef corn, pears and apples). Well, as a side dish – boiled potatoes (“papas arrugadas” ).
Typical Canarian food is simply unthinkable without sauce moyo and gofio cereal flour, which is used as an independent dish and as an additive.
You can’t help but try local desserts – “bienmeabe” (egg yolk, cinnamon and almond cream), egg and sugar flan pudding, baked milk, palm honey, and all sorts of exotic fruits.
Canary wine, honey rum, banana liqueur and local beer brands Dorada and Tropical stand out among the alcoholic drinks.
Of course, in addition to national dishes, Canarian restaurants offer European cuisine for literally every taste and budget. There are also many fast food establishments ( McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, KFC and others).

Well, luxury hotels 5* can completely leave even the most sophisticated and capricious tourists speechless.
Leisure and entertainment
The main source of prosperity of the Canary Islands is the tourism business, so the choice of all kinds of entertainment here is simply colossal. The main holiday destinations on the islands are numerous beaches. Most of them are marked with the Blue Flag of the European Union, which indicates a high level of service and cleanliness. In addition, breakwaters are installed on most beaches for safe swimming. In general, the islands have both equipped beaches and wild, and even nudist ones. There are a lot of ways to have fun on the beaches: all kinds of water sports, fishing in the open ocean, windsurfing, yachting, sea excursions and parachuting. In addition, the Canary Islands are ready to offer jeep safari, go-karting, rock climbing, hiking along numerous tourist routes, cycling and horseback riding. And the islands can also boast of their numerous restaurants, elite country clubs, zoos, sports facilities, gyms and health centers.
There are a lot of holidays, festivals and carnivals in the Canary Islands: they are celebrated literally every week. First of all, these are religious holidays, which are celebrated here with special joy and unprecedented scope ( Epiphany, Saint Joseph’s Day, All Saints’ Day, Good Friday of Passion Week, Corpus Christi, Immaculate Conception and others). In addition, each island holds its own original fiestas and festivals.
Shopping
Since the Canary Islands is a free economic zone, prices for many goods here are much lower than in Europe. High-quality imported alcohol, by general standards, is sold here almost for free, the choice of perfumes is large and pleases with reasonable price tags, and tobacco products, cameras, camcorders, radios, watches and jewelry are cheaper than in the countries of their production. Although it is worth noting that European brands of clothing and footwear are not represented here in a very wide variety, so it is better to pay attention to Spanish brands. Also on the islands you can profitably buy things made of crocodile skin. Standard souvenirs (toys, postcards, magnets) are sold almost everywhere and are very cheap. However, it is recommended to pay attention to more original items, such as handicrafts (ceramics, embroidery, lace, wickerwork, etc.), local tobacco and Canarian pine souvenirs, as well as natural and imitation pearls.
In addition to the fact that prices in the Canary Islands are much cheaper than in Europe, seasonal sales (rebajas) are held here twice a year. They start in mid-July and at the end of the first week of January. Initially, discounts do not exceed 20-30%, but gradually increase and reach 90% by the end of sales. The biggest sales take place in Santa Cruz, where there are many shopping malls and galleries.
Most shops are open daily, except Sunday, from 9:00 to 20:00, large supermarkets and department stores are open from 10:00 to 21:00.
Transport
The Canary Islands has a large number of airports that provide international and domestic passenger transportation. Among them, the most significant and largest are the airport de Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Tenerife South Airport and Tenerife North Airport. In addition, the islands of the archipelago are connected by ferries that are capable of transporting cars. Between the islands of Gomera, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Tenerife, there are high-speed boats. Internal communication on the territory of all islands is carried out by means of highways.
City public transport is represented by a wide network of TITSA bus routes. Bus fares are low. As a rule, the trip is paid to the driver at the entrance to the front door.
In addition, on the islands you can always use the services of taxis, which are metered here. It should be borne in mind that local taxi drivers rarely speak any foreign language, but they know the names of all hotels, restaurants, commercial centers, etc. very well.
Also in the Canary Islands you can always rent a car of any brand. Moreover, there are often preferential rates (for three days or more). To use car rental services, you must present a document confirming the identity and age of at least 21 years, as well as international driving license and a deposit. Several companies on the islands offer bicycles, scooters, mopeds and motorcycles for rent.
Communications
For international calls, the most economical option is Telefonica’s blue-green payphones, which are installed on the streets of all cities. They work from any coins of small denomination, and the minimum amount for a call to Moscow is $ 0. 5. By the way, from some local payphones you can not only make calls, but also send SMS or messages to e-mail. In addition, you can call from telephones that are available in almost all bars, from telephone offices of travel companies and from a hotel room. In the latter case, an international call will cost an order of magnitude more.
Cellular communication on the islands is of excellent quality and uniform coverage. Roaming is available to all subscribers of major operators. It is possible to purchase a local SIM card or rent a phone.
24-hour Internet access is provided in almost all hotels, however, it is not cheap ($6-8 per hour). It will be much more economical to go to an Internet cafe or an arcade where cheap access to the network is provided. Many public places have Wi-Fi hotspots.
Security
In the Canary Islands, you are unlikely to face any dangers. Tourists here absolutely calmly walk in any place and at any time of the day. Of course, no one canceled elementary precautions: you need to take care of the safety of your wallet, do not leave things unattended, and store large sums of money and documents in the hotel safe (you can only have a copy of your passport and visa with you). It is also worth bearing in mind that sellers of so-called free lottery tickets are often found on the streets of most cities. They are completely harmless, but extremely intrusive. In order not to become an object of fraud, it is recommended to simply ignore them.
There are no mandatory vaccinations to travel to the Canary Islands, and the likelihood of getting any infection is extremely low.
Business climate
Tourism is the backbone of economic and business life in the Canary Islands. More than 3 million tourists come to Tenerife alone every year. The rapid economic growth here began at the end of the 20th century and is associated with large foreign investments in the tourism and hotel industry.
The most important industries here are oil refining, chemical and food processing. Also, being a duty-free zone, the islands are of great commercial importance and are a major international transit base in the Atlantic Ocean. In addition, some of the income of the Canary Islands comes from industry and agricultural exports.
Real estate
The main advantage of real estate in the Canary Islands is its high rental potential, which is explained by year-round attendance of the resort. In addition, the real estate market of the islands was not too much affected by the crisis.
Tenerife is the most popular property in Tenerife, the largest and most populous island, which is the easiest to reach from Europe. Most often, apartments are offered in residential areas, as well as small bungalows in secluded places near the ocean. On any island there is an opportunity to buy a villa, both luxurious and more modest.
The procedure for acquiring real estate in the Canary Islands takes place in accordance with Spanish law, notarized.
According to customs regulations, citizens of countries that are not members of the European Union are allowed to import no more than 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars, 2 liters of wine and 1 liter of alcohol with a strength of more than 22 ° to the Canary Islands. The import of drugs, weapons and certain medicines is prohibited. Export of jewelry, historical valuables and antiques is allowed only upon presentation of a special permit. The import of foreign currency is not limited in any way (if the amount exceeds 500 euros, a declaration will be required). The export of previously imported foreign currency is allowed upon declaration.
Visa information
The Canary Islands are part of Spain, so a Schengen visa is required to enter their territory from a country outside the European Union. In Moscow, it can be issued at the Embassy of Spain (Bol. Nikitskaya St., 50/8) or the Consular Section (Stremyanny Lane, 31/1), in St. Petersburg – at the Consulate General (Furshtatskaya St., 9).
It must be taken into account that when departing from Spain, often a mark in the passport about leaving the country is not put. In this regard, air tickets must always be kept, as they will be required for the subsequent issuance of a visa to a country included in the Schengen area.

What’s the weather like in Playa del Ingles in June
Temperature
Summer has arrived and June marks the start of the 18-30 holiday season in the popular Spanish beach resort of Playa del Ingles. Young travellers flock to the town to enjoy the wonderful weather at this time of year. Temperatures average at 21°C, climbing to highs of 24°C and night-time temperatures rarely fall below 18°C.
Average Sunshine Hours and Sea Temperature
The resort has reached a record daytime high of 33°C in June and skies are usually mostly clear. Average temperatures typically rise 2°C from the beginning to the end of the month, while the number of sunshine hours per day stays at eleven hours. The lowest June temperature on record is 15°C, but it’s unlikely to get this cool. The sea temperature rises to 21°C, making it pleasant for water-sports or a refreshing dip.
Rain and Wind
June is one of the driest months in this southern part of Gran Canaria, along with July and August. In fact, it is very rare that the town sees any rainfall at all during this three month dry season. The landscape can look a little barren during the summer, but on the plus side there’s no need to take up room in the suitcase packing raincoats and umbrellas. Wind speeds are usually no more than a breeze, but tend to pick up as the month progresses.
Playa del Ingles Hotels in June
For an adults-only stay in Playa del Ingles, why not check out the three-star Sunprime Atlantic View Suites & Spa. An international buffet restaurant will ensure you have a range of delights to eat and there is also an on-site mini-market. For fitness-lovers there’s a gym, aerobics area and tennis court. And after all that exercise, make a date to indulge at the spa with one of their relaxing and rejuvenating treatments.
For four-star all the way, book yourself into the Gran Canaria Princess. Another adults-only resort, this hotel in the heart of Playa del Ingles has spacious and inviting rooms in an attractive, open setting. It boasts large pools and a wellness area so you can enjoy a good pampering. You won’t be short of entertainment with the resort’s daily schedule of activities, live music and shows.

The French-themed venue serves up a massive range of cocktails, including the signature ‘Eiffel’ and some French-inspired concoctions such as the ‘French Riviera’ and ‘TGV’. There’s live music each night, but for something more relaxing, head there for a tea or coffee at lunch.

This venue proudly offers well-crafted South-East Asian cuisine from Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam, and offers vegetarian options. Things to do in Playa del Ingles in June
No one wants to have to pack a golf umbrella, so hit the green during June’s dry spell. Maspalomas Golf course is set on flat and extensive land among the sand dunes, just over a mile away from Playa del Ingles. With these attractive surroundings and the area’s clement weather, it has hosted a number of international golfing events. Serious golfers can enjoy competing at this 18 hole, 73 par course, while beginners can undertake half hour lessons, or just head to the driving range to practice some skills. The clubhouse boasts a restaurant with free WiFi and a Pilates studio for relaxing after a game.
Puerto de Mogan is a picturesque fishing village on Gran Canaria’s southwest coast, just over 16 miles by car from Playa del Ingles. Pay a visit and you will see why it’s nicknamed ‘the Venice of the Canaries’, with its attractive canals and bridges over the seawater inlet. It is also a major stop for ocean yachts travelling from the Atlantic to the Caribbean. Stroll along the marina and stop for refreshments at one of its many restaurants and bars, and see the pretty homes and cottages climbing up the hillside of the old town.

We base the humidity comfort level on the dew point, as it determines whether perspiration will evaporate from the skin, thereby cooling the body. Lower dew points feel drier and higher dew points feel more humid. Unlike temperature, which typically varies significantly between night and day, dew point tends to change more slowly, so while the temperature may drop at night, a muggy day is typically followed by a muggy night.
The chance that a given day will be muggy in Playa del Ingles is increasing during June, rising from 8% to 16% over the course of the month.
For reference, on September 22, the muggiest day of the year, there are muggy conditions 46% of the time, while on January 13, the least muggy day of the year, there are muggy conditions 1% of the time.

Temperature and Dew Point
There are 2 weather stations near enough to contribute to our estimation of the temperature and dew point in Playa del Ingles.
For each station, the records are corrected for the elevation difference between that station and Playa del Ingles according to the International Standard Atmosphere , and by the relative change present in the MERRA-2 satellite-era reanalysis between the two locations.
The estimated value at Playa del Ingles is computed as the weighted average of the individual contributions from each station, with weights proportional to the inverse of the distance between Playa del Ingles and a given station.
The stations contributing to this reconstruction are:
Gran Canaria Airport (GCLP, 88%, 17 mi, northeast, -85 ft elevation change)
Tenerife South Airport (GCTS, 12%, 64 mi, west, 46 ft elevation change)
To get a sense of how much these sources agree with each other, you can view a comparison of Playa del Ingles and the stations that contribute to our estimates of its temperature history and climate. Please note that each source’s contribution is adjusted for elevation and the relative change present in the MERRA-2 data.
Other Data
All data relating to the Sun’s position (e.g., sunrise and sunset) are computed using astronomical formulas from the book, Astronomical Algorithms 2nd Edition , by Jean Meeus.
All other weather data, including cloud cover, precipitation, wind speed and direction, and solar flux, come from NASA’s MERRA-2 Modern-Era Retrospective Analysis . This reanalysis combines a variety of wide-area measurements in a state-of-the-art global meteorological model to reconstruct the hourly history of weather throughout the world on a 50-kilometer grid.
Land Use data comes from the Global Land Cover SHARE database , published by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
Elevation data comes from the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) , published by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
Names, locations, and time zones of places and some airports come from the GeoNames Geographical Database .

The information on this site is provided as is, without any assurances as to its accuracy or suitability for any purpose. Weather data is prone to errors, outages, and other defects. We assume no responsibility for any decisions made on the basis of the content presented on this site.
We draw particular cautious attention to our reliance on the MERRA-2 model-based reconstructions for a number of important data series. While having the tremendous advantages of temporal and spatial completeness, these reconstructions: (1) are based on computer models that may have model-based errors, (2) are coarsely sampled on a 50 km grid and are therefore unable to reconstruct the local variations of many microclimates, and (3) have particular difficulty with the weather in some coastal areas, especially small islands.
We further caution that our travel scores are only as good as the data that underpin them, that weather conditions at any given location and time are unpredictable and variable, and that the definition of the scores reflects a particular set of preferences that may not agree with those of any particular reader.
