Bright and colorful carnivals regularly take place in the Canary Islands. This fact, of course, is a consequence of the Spanish conquest that took place several centuries ago. With the advent of the conquistadors, Spanish cultural traditions began to actively penetrate the islands, which quickly took root here, albeit in a somewhat transformed form.
It is known that in 1638 a magnificent staged wedding took place here, during which King Philip the fourth turned into a servant, and the queen into an ordinary commoner. Courtiers and nobles dressed up as women, and their servants, on the contrary, turned into noble people for a while. Covering their faces with masks, during the carnival, ordinary people ridiculed all the vices of the nobility that they had to endure in normal times. The tradition of dressing men as women, and noble people as servants and slaves, dates back to ancient Rome.
Today, liberation from the foundations, monotonous canons and conventions of secular life is one of the main principles of the carnival in Tenerife. On the day of the carnival, you can do everything that is considered indecent at normal times.
During the period of its existence, the carnival experienced both a rapid flowering and political persecution. From the time of the civil war until 1976, the carnival was officially banned, as was any mention of it. But already in 1980, this festival, held in the city of Santa Cruz, was recognized as international. To date, the carnival in Tenerife is second only to the famous carnival in Rio de Janeiro in terms of scale and popularity.
One of the main events of the carnival is the choice of the queen, who is the symbol of the holiday and the central character around whom further ceremonies are held. Immediately after the end of one carnival, preparations begin for the next. Throughout the year, enterprises, small firms and large companies solve a serious problem: who will be worthy to represent them at the carnival. Outstanding designers and fashion designers direct their creative impulses to create extremely spectacular, bright and memorable carnival costumes. As for the queen of the carnival, the most attractive and at the same time hardy residents of Tenerife fight for her title every year. Endurance is indispensable here, because the weight of some carnival costumes for the queen is sometimes more than a dozen kilograms.

Just returned from a 4 day break at this hotel and it was just the treat we needed after a family reunion trip to Thailand had fallen through at the very last minute due to the Thai passes not being issued in time for our flight. This trip was our Plan B and we are SO glad we found this hotel. It’s in a great location and relaxing around the pool in the calm and green environment with a view of the sea was just heaven. All 3 pools were warm and the sunbeds were so comfy – the weather was lovely. We booked half board and were really impressed with the variety and quality of the food at breakfast and dinner, we really looked forward to our meals. The buffet restaurant is run very efficiently and all the staff are working hard to keep everything so clean and running smoothly. A special thank you to Antonio who was really kind to us when we first arrived. Reception staff is also efficient, helpful and friendly.
We asked for a quiet room and that’s what we got. The room was spotlessly clean, had a small fridge and balcony and we could get the bbc channels, ITV and C4 which was fab! We enjoyed everything about our stay at Landemar Los Gigantes and would definitely return – hopefully next year! We got a shuttle bus from the airport but that was a mistake as it went round the houses and took 2 hours. On the return journey we got the bus (at the bottom of the slope down from the hotel )
477 to Costa Ajace bus station which took about 40 mins then a short bus ride from there to the airport – no. 40 bus

Nice town in Tenerife. Puerto de Santiago. Nice town in Tenerife Below is a small report about Puerto Santiago in Tenerife from one of our tourists

Puerto de Santiago —
a small resort town located in the southwest. But it is more known as the resort of Los Gigantes and it is part of the municipality.

Puerto Santiago is a seaside town with several beaches. It stretches for 13 km along the coastline and has about 6,000 inhabitants.

Puerto Santiago occupies the most favorable geographical location in the southwest of Tenerife, so the weather is always warm here.

The town nestled in a natural bay, on the outskirts of famous cliffs. The bay is protected from waves by a natural rocky breakwater, plus artificially reinforced in the process of urban development.

In recent years, Puerto de Santiago is very often chosen by tourists for wintering in Tenerife. A “quiet” holiday flourishes here, for people avoiding noisy tourist centers.

Puerto de Santiago owes its origin to a small fishing village, which for a long time supplied the nearby towns with seafood and fish. But tourism has made its way to this quiet area, turning Puerto Santiago into Tenerife’s premier warm-weather winter resort. Today, instead of fish boats, a large marina and many yachts have been built in the bay, protected from winds and waves. On these yachts, tourists ride in search of pilot whales and in the Mask. And now the locals buy fish not in the market, but in Mercadona.

Attractions Puerto Santiago

Puerto Santiago’s most famous attraction is the observation deck overlooking the cliffs of Los Gigantes. But there are always a lot of tourists who stop by this observation deck on.

Puerto Santiago Beaches

In Puerto Santiago itself there is a small, clean beach – Playa Chica. Very close to the beach there is a bay with fishing boats and schooners, hangars for storing boats.

Another famous one, Playa de la Arena is located half a kilometer from Puerto de Santiago and is extremely popular with tourists.

Another beach on the other side of Los Gigantes is Los Gios. It is located right under the huge rocks.

The beaches can be reached by bus or taxi, or just walk.

In Puerto de Santiago you will find numerous cafes, restaurants and spas. Do not forget that all this is geared towards tourists. The quality of food and its price leaves much to be desired.

Another attraction is the fishing museum. Located in the center of Puerto de Santiago, it tells about the history and development of the fishing craft. The facade of the museum is designed by the famous artist B. Romain and is a combination of a seascape and a bas-relief depicting fishermen catching fish.

Below is a small report about Puerto Santiago in Tenerife from one of our tourists

“If there is heaven on earth, it is Puerto de Santiago.” So say some tourists and residents of this town.

Sunny skies and gentle waters of Atlantic beaches once turned a once rundown fishing village into one of the most popular and visited resorts in the world. To the place where you want to go so much and from which you don’t want to return.

You will have to get to Puerto de Santiago through the southern Reina Sofia. Personally, I find nothing interesting in an hour and a half bus ride with transfers, while for only 50 euros a brisk taxi driver will take you to any specified hotel in Puerto de Santiago in forty minutes.

And more about hotels. Accustomed to English and German tourists, hotel owners provide good service. Here you will find cozy rooms, good cuisine, and a cheerful atmosphere.

But limiting yourself to a room and a hotel pool would be unforgivable stupidity. In Puerto Santiago you can find more interesting places. For example, the famous black sand beaches of Playa San Juan and Playa de la Arena. The volcanic sand in this part of Tenerife is really black in color.

For those who want to get to know the underwater flora and fauna close to Puerto Santiago there is a diving center. By Russian standards, it is not even cheap, but the dive is worth it. Seeing dolphins and whales in their natural habitat is a good experience.

But even without this, the usual swimming in the invigorating ocean water will not let you get bored.

By the way, July 16 is a traditional romeria dedicated to Our Lady of Carmen. The celebration is held in the nearby town of Los Gigantes.

In a word, the resort of Puerto Santiago and Los Gigantes, warmed by the warm Atlantic waters, will show why European tourists like to winter in Tenerife.

I don’t really feel like summing up the results of the year, because there is no feeling yet that it is ending. Maybe because of the weather, maybe because of the high pace of life … Oh well, I hope everything will change on New Year’s Eve. In the meantime, I want to talk about the town of Puerto de Santiago in Tenerife. Around the same time last year, our plane landed at the South Airport of the island, rented a car and went to look for a hotel. The city of Puerto de Santiago is located in the southwest of Tenerife, located at an altitude of 25 meters above sea level and stretches for 13 kilometers along the coastline of the island. It is surrounded by the cliffs of Los Gigantes on the west side and the slope of the Teide volcano on the north, which gives very good protection from the winds. That is why the city was a fishing port that supplied the surrounding areas with provisions. Here, old buildings and the port itself with a lift and hangars for boats are still preserved. Here and now, fishing is held in high esteem and all the fish caught is served in local restaurants.

1.

By the way, there are a lot of restaurants. For every color and taste. You can try both traditional Canarian cuisine and any others. We especially fell in love with the Chinese restaurant, where they served very tasty and inexpensive shrimp in a variety of ways.

2.

Puerto de Santiago is very cozy. There are no skyscrapers and even just high-rise buildings. Everything is done in the same style.

3.

By the way, there are not very many beaches in Puerto de Santiago itself. Therefore, everyone swims in Playa de la Arena. This is a wonderful beach with black volcanic sand. Naturally, with waves. When they are very big lifeguards hang prohibition flags. Although there are very few who want to climb without them, high ocean waves easily knock you down.

4.

One of Tenerife’s main attractions is the cliffs of Los Gigantes, reaching over 600 meters above sea level. Very beautiful.

5.

Returning to the restaurants, this is what we had dinner on the last evening on the island. Very tasty fish, salads. I recommend.

6.

Island views. I note that the area is very “mountainous”, so it was very difficult to move by car out of habit.

water temperature, hotels, beaches, reviews

Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands. It is visited by 3 million tourists annually. The best of the resorts of the island is Costa Adeje, famous for its luxurious hotels.

Climate

Lack of strong winds and lush vegetation make the main resort of Tenerife a truly heavenly place. Costa Adeje has a warm and gentle climate, so you can meet vacationers there at any time of the year.

The lowest temperature recorded in the resort for the entire period of meteorological observations was +15 o C (in winter), and the average temperature in the “cold” season is +17 . .. +21 o C. As for the summer , then this season on Costa Adeje is the perfect weather for relaxing on the beach. On average, the thermometer shows +25 … +30 about S.

It rains quite rarely on this part of the coast of Tenerife, and the monthly rainfall barely reaches 7 mm. At the same time, due to the proximity of the ocean, the vegetation in Adah always remains lush, and in the hot season, vacationers do not experience discomfort.

In addition, in this Tenerife resort, the water temperature in December, July, August, September, November and October ranges from +21 … +24.3 about C. There are few unfavorable months for a beach holiday on the island. In particular, it is not particularly comfortable there in early spring. However, even if you arrive in Tenerife in March, the minimum water temperature will be comfortable – about +18 about C.

from mainland Spain. Its area is 2,034.38 sq. km, and the length of the coastline is 342 km.

The resort of Adeje is located on the southwest coast of the island, next to the youth resort of Las Americas.

How to get there

For Russians, the only way to get to the Canary Islands is by air to Tenerife.

Adeje is located 20 km from the southern airport of the island. There are several scheduled buses (Nos. 450, 111 and 343). Tourists arriving at the southern airport of the island can easily get into Adeje. From there, you can get to the resort by using bus number 343 or by changing in the city of Santa Cruz to route number 111.

Beaches

People usually go to Tenerife to splash in the gentle sea and lie down on the clean sand.

There are three beach areas in the resort:

  • Playa de Fanabe.
  • El Duke.
  • “Troy I” and “Troy II”.

Of these, El Duc beach is distinguished by its developed infrastructure. There are changing rooms, toilets, showers, parking, telephone, bus stop, taxi rank, etc. Thanks to the gentle entrance to the sea, El Duc beach is especially preferred by families who come to rest with small children.

Those who seek relative privacy choose the Playa de Fañaba. This beach is one of the most luxurious.

Troy I and Troy II are more democratic. These are the oldest beaches in the resort, where there is everything you need to relax. However, during the high season they are always crowded.

Almost all beaches are sandy, with local or imported desert sand.

Where to go

Like other resorts in Tenerife, Adeje offers its guests many options for leisure activities. First of all, these are trips on boats and yachts, during which tourists can breathe in the sea air, admire the views of the island from the ocean and watch whales. Young people who come to the resort without children can be recommended to take part in a walking tour to the Hell’s Gorge Nature Reserve or other natural attractions of Adeje.

In order to have fun with the whole family, including children aged 6 years and older, it is worth visiting the famous Siam Park water amusement park (address: 38670 Costa Adeje, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, a child ticket costs 22 euros, an adult ticket costs 32 euros ). Not far from the resort is the Jungle Park Zoo, where you can watch the many species of animals that live in the Canary Islands.

Golf enthusiasts will not be bored in Tenerife either, as there are many excellent courses for practicing this sport.

Nightlife

Those who have been to the Canary Islands will confirm that Adeje is one of the quietest places in Tenerife. However, this does not mean that tourists will be deprived of the opportunity to have fun in nightclubs and numerous discos. In neighboring Puerto Colon, life is in full swing until the early hours, and Veronicas Street is full of entertainment venues.

Excursions

For those who come to the best resort of Tenerife – Adeje – and want to diversify their vacation, various excursions are offered. For example, guests of the Canaries will be interested in visiting the island of La Gomera, where the ancient capital of the archipelago was located many centuries ago. In San Sebastian, many ancient buildings and places associated with the stay of Christopher Columbus himself have been preserved. In addition, the Garajonay National Park is located on La Gomera.

Another interesting excursion is a trip to San Miguel Castle. Costumed jousting tournaments are regularly held there. At the entrance to the castle guests are greeted by the owner and hostess. They invite tourists to become spectators and even participants in the battle between brave knights who are ready to fight for the favor of the beautiful donna.

Hotels in Adeje (Tenerife)

Four and five star hotels in the resort are located mainly on the second resort line. The main contingent of holidaymakers in Tenerife (Adeje is no exception) are Europeans. Especially a lot of British and Russians in hotels. Fortunately, young people from Foggy Albion prefer Las Americas, so in Adeje hotels you can safely settle with children without fear of a noisy neighborhood.

Most hotels have their own spacious swimming pools, including plunge pools. Some of them have green areas where it will be convenient to walk with children.

Since a significant part of the main contingent of Adeje hotel guests are tourists from our country, there are always Russian-speaking employees at the reception. This facilitates communication and eliminates misunderstandings.

Among the best hotels in the resort are usually called:

Costa Adeje Gran Hotel

This hotel is considered one of the best in Tenerife. It is built in the traditional Canarian style in the shape of the letter “P”. Guests can enjoy cozy and spacious rooms with free WI-FI. The hotel does not have a spacious private territory, but the road to the beach at a leisurely pace takes only 7 minutes.

Other advantages of the Costa Adeje Gran Hotel include:

  • excellent menu, which includes excellent cheeses, traditional jamon, red caviar, etc.;
  • proximity to the famous night club “Achaman”;
  • high quality service;
  • the presence of several boutiques and shops with all the necessary trifles within walking distance from the hotel.

Diving in Adeje

More than half a thousand species of marine flora and fauna live in the ocean waters off the coast of the resort. You can get acquainted with them by visiting the diving centers of Costa Adeje. You can learn how to dive, get a certificate, rent the necessary equipment, etc.

In addition, the modern Tenerife Top Training Center operates in Adeje, where athletes from all over the Canary archipelago train.

Reviews

Practically everyone who had a rest on the island noted that they were satisfied with the rest. According to them, the service in the hotels of the resort is beyond praise. Especially often you can hear laudatory comments about the staff, who perfectly copes with their duties, doing it unobtrusively and tactfully.

Guests are satisfied with the food, which is distinguished by the variety and abundance of fruits, vegetables and fresh seafood. Although the hotels serve mainly continental cuisine, there are many restaurants near the beaches serving Canarian appetizers, soups, deli meats, etc.

Why the Canary Islands are a Perfect Autumn Destination – Click&Go Travel Blog

Beaches and Sun
|

|
3 minutes

Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Fuerteventura make up the Canary Islands. They are by far our most popular sun holiday destination once the summer ends. But what makes them so popular and perfect for an autumn or winter sun holiday? Let’s find out…

Guaranteed Sunshine

The Canary Islands, located just off the coast of Africa, enjoy a mild climate. While it can get quite hot in the peak of July, it never feels too hot – especially for those of us not used to temperatures above 30 degrees! The islands have an average year-round temperature of 21 degrees. The islands get over 3,000 hours of sunshine a year, making them one of the sunniest spots in Europe. In winter, the sun rises at 7:30am and sets at 6:30pm and, in summer, sunrise is at 7:00am and sunset at 8:30pm.

Everything is Open

A lot of destinations around Europe have a very defined season, and, once it’s over, a lot of resorts close their doors. Across the Canary Islands, they stay open year-round. In fact, they’re almost as popular in winter as they are in summer. No matter which island you choose, there’ll still be a good buzz on the island and plenty of options for places to stay, drink, eat, shop and soak up some Canarian culture!

Getting Active

While we’ve all walked more in the past year than we have in our entire lives, a walk feels different when you’re surrounded by breathtaking scenery. In Tenerife, you’ll find the Canary Island’s largest national park, Teide National Park. With plenty of trails and sights to soak in, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is worth a day out. In Lanzarote, you’ll find Timanfaya National Park, with a unique, almost lunar looking landscape. There are two walking routes for you to enjoy or you can tour the park by camel or by bus.

Or Take it Slow

A sun holiday is about relaxation so if exploring nature isn’t for you, an autumnal visit is an ideal time to slow down and enjoy the food and culture of the Canary Islands. If you enjoy fine wines, there are over 10 appellations spread across the islands, with one in Lanzarote and Tenerife boasting five important grape growing zones. If trying local food is more your thing, try some dishes like papas arrugadas (wrinkled potatoes) dipped in the traditional mojo sauce, vieja al horno (baked fish), lapas con mojo (limpets) or cabrito asado (roast kid). Or you can enjoy some culture at Lanzarote’s Jameos del Agua, Fuerteventura’s Mirador de la Peña or learn about ancient inhabitants on an archaeological tour of Gran Canaria.

Serene Beaches

Although the Canaries are popular year-round, by visiting in the autumn months, you’ll feel like the beach is your own. As the families return home for the start of the school year, the beaches become a lot quieter. From black sand beaches on Tenerife island to the golden sands of Lanzarote and Gran Canaria, you’ll have an endless number of spectacular beaches to stroll along and swim in. From August to October, you’ll be able to really enjoy swimming in the sea as this is when the water is at its warmest.

Good Deals

Whether it’s flights or accommodation, you’ll find amazing deals to the Canary Islands in the autumn months. As summer and winter are the busiest seasons, for autumn, you’ll get cheaper rates. At Click&Go, we’re the official holiday partner to Aer Lingus so we get exclusive prices and can pass the great savings to you. We also know each island like the back of our hands and have built up excellent relationships with hotels and resorts across the islands. If you need advice on where to stay or insight into where you’ll get the best value for money, we’re here to help.

Historically, The Canary Islands belong to Spain, but geographically they are part of the group of volcanic islands along with the Azores, Cape Verde and Madeira. It is believed that the island Tenerife was formed about 12 million years ago as a result of powerful volcanic eruptions. In Western Europe, the existence of the Canary archipelago has been known since ancient times. In Greek myths, the islands are described as “the abode of the blessed and the garden of the Hesperides”. Later, geographers decided that these islands were all that was left of Atlantis, which sank to the bottom of the continent described by Plato. The Canary Islands were inhabited long before the arrival of the first European sailors. Tenerife was inhabited by tall blond and light-skinned people called Guanches, whose origin is lost in legend. Until now, some historians believe that they came from a real-life Atlantis. The modern population of Tenerife dates back to the end of the 15th century – the time of the conquest of the island by the Spaniards. Tenerife turned out to be a “tough nut” for the conquistadors: despite the fact that the Guanches did not know iron, the Spaniards got a great deal from the wooden and stone weapons of the natives. And yet, after long battles, weakened by the plague and tribal strife, the Guanches of Tenerife “surrendered” the island and fell into slavery to the conquerors. Read more.

Resorts and hotels in Spain at the best prices from Samaraintur

Online search for tours from Samara to Spain

Resorts of Spain: from Costa Brava to Tenerife!.

.

According to the results of the past year, Greece, Bulgaria and Spain achieved the most serious progress in the Russian tourist market. Naturally, these countries are trying to build on their success this summer season as well. Moreover, you can go there directly from almost all regions of Russia, including, of course, from Samara. We suggest talking about the features of holidays in the resorts of Spain in more detail …

Canary Islands and excursion tours

In the winter and spring months, the flow of tourists to Spain is distributed mainly between the resorts of the Canary Islands (Tenerife and Gran Canaria), as well as sightseeing tours in Spain. It should be noted that there are quite a lot of the latter, and their programs are very diverse.

The Spanish “excursion” covers not only Barcelona, but also such cities of the country as Seville, Valencia, Toledo, Madrid… Very often these tours are combined with a 2-3-day visit to France, and sometimes Portugal.

As for the Canary Islands, trips to this paradise have long been no longer considered subject only to the elite. Thanks to the efforts of our leading tour operators, holidays in Tenerife have become available to a wide range of tourists. Moreover, not only fans of exclusively beach holidays go to the Canary Islands today. The Canary Islands are amazingly beautiful and there is something to admire and see. The Teide volcano alone is worth something!..

Beach holidays at sea

And yet, the vast majority of Russians prefer to relax in Spain during the summer months and early autumn. From the end of May to the beginning of October, the Mediterranean resorts of this country have a hot season called the beach season. All hotels in the Costa Brava, Costa Dorada, Costa del Sol work, as they say, to their fullest, as well as all the numerous related tourist infrastructure.

It should be noted that in recent years, our tourists have also been “imbued” with holidays on the island of Mallorca, where the level of hotels and service is generally higher than on the coast. And the nature on the islands, of course, is more elegant and refined. So aesthetes and subtle connoisseurs of comfort may well relax in Mallorca, as they say, with chic.

Although the main part of Samara tourists who prefer holidays in Spain go, according to tradition, to the coasts of the Costa Brava and Costa Dorada. Which is quite logical. After all, the flight from Samara to Barcelona is not too long, the beaches on the Mediterranean are excellent, the water is clean and warm, and everyone can choose a hotel for themselves, based on their own priorities and “vacation fund”. By the way, many of the hotels in Spain quite fall under the definition of “budget” …

It is very important that during a tour to Spain from Samara there is a chance to see many beauties of Europe. Just the opportunity to walk around Barcelona and admire the creations of Gaudí is worth a lot! But there is also the city of Dali – Figueros, and the “Spanish Venice” – Girona, and the second largest amusement park in Europe – “PortAventura” .

If you have time, you can visit Murano to learn more about Venice’s glass blowing tradition (and pick up some unique souvenirs). Burano is another great option for an off-the-beaten-path and less touristed side of Venice.

The rooftop bar steals the show at The Principal hotel in Madrid

Our experts offer a guide to the top 25 destinations for a city break in 2020, including what to do and where to stay in Venice, Amsterdam, Florence, Lisbon, London, Barcelona and Reykjavik.

Italy

Rome

The mild Mediterranean climate in Rome is a persuasive draw for visitors from the cool north, but the main draw will always be the pulsating energy of a place which lives life as a form of theatre. There are great neighbourhood trattorias, quirky shops and a buzzing aperitivo scene. The challenge is deciding what not to do: there are so many churches, archaeological sites, piazzas and paintings to see that a lifetime is hardly enough.

Telegraph expert rating

One of Italy’s classiest townhouse hotels, J.K. Place has been much imitated, but few of the copies match the warm, suave, elegant original. The rooms derive much of their charm from the no-expenses-spared quality of the materials used, including antique fireplaces and original framed fashion-house sketches.

VENICE

Venice never loses its capacity to enchant. Summer brings some of the most daunting crowds, but there’s a reason why they come: the sheer loveliness of an exquisite city that seems miraculously built on water. Venice’s churches and museums offer antique glories aplenty, but there is also a vibrant contemporary art scene, even away from the Art Biennale. Venice is a unique, magical place 365 days a year. But much of the time you’ll be sharing that magic with thousands of other visitors.

With Art Nouveau splendours lining a curve of the Danube, Budapest promises genteel romance. While the fin-de-siècle façades, old-fashioned cafés and refined baths politely sweep you off your feet, the traces of Goulash communism and the city’s fascinating modern history add spice. Budapest is an easy city to navigate, with the river at its heart. Cross a bridge to the west and you’re in Buda, the leafy hills hiding natural hot springs and crowned with a palace that provide views down to the scene-stealing gothic parliament building on the far riverbank. Behind this is Pest, the eastern city, unified with Buda in 1873, where you’ll find attractive boulevards and the Jewish quarter.

Czech Republic

Prague

It’s easy to forget, just 20 years on, that Czechoslovakia emerged from the fall of the Iron Curtain with a once-jailed dissident as president, inspiring the world. Especially with Prague’s current appearance: gleaming software company offices, glitzy fashion shops, scads of skinny model types gliding in and out – often with young, bemused business types in tow – all squeezed in among the fabulously restored Baroque architecture and cobbled lanes of Old Town. But the compact city of 1.2 million, divided by the picturesque green river and linked by stone bridges, has always been about not just truth but opportunity.

Copenhagen

The Danish capital’s compact dimensions are perfect for exploration on two feet (or two wheels). The car has almost no right of way on its most central cobbled streets, which wind past copper spires, sleek modernist civic buildings and quirky boutiques to chocolate-box harbourside vistas. Unsurprisingly for a city with 1,000 years of royal history, it does well on the castles-and-palaces-per-square-inch score. It also offers a surprisingly rich and varied mix of other cultural attractions, including excellent museums, fine architecture and interiors, extensive European and Islamic art collections and a thriving fashion scene that has launched several designers internationally.

The Irish capital is crowded with traces of a tempestuous past, and yet the city wears the weight of this history relatively lightly. Come here for Georgian architectural elegance, a still robust pub culture, some wonderful museums and galleries, an attractive seaside location – and an evident way with words, reflected in the city’s designation as a Unesco City of Literature. And come here to eat well too: in the past, Dublin may not have been known for its food culture, but increasingly today it’s possible to sample excellent local produce and drink a cup of wonderful coffee as well as the traditional pint of stout.

21+ Best Places to Visit in November in the USA

Foliage, festivals, and Thanksgiving: there are plenty of reasons to plan a vacation to one of the best places to visit in November in the USA!

Planning a November vacation in the US can be a bit of a balancing act: sandwiched between the peak fall month of October and the festive month of December, it can take a bit of strategizing to find a travel destination that shines in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving.

Luckily, in a country as big as ours, there are plenty of options.

We teamed up with several other travel bloggers to share some of the best places to go in the USA in November.

Whether you’re looking for somewhere warm, somewhere where the foliage still clings to the trees, or somewhere where you can get an early jump on December holiday festivities toward the end of the month, there’s a US November travel destination here that meets your needs.

Here are some of the best places to visit in November in the US!

Cool Cities + Towns to Visit in November in the USA

New York, New York

From Megan of Your Brooklyn Guide

New York City is one of the best destinations for USA travel in November.

Not only do you have the opportunity to catch the fall foliage in the city’s beautiful parks like Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge Park, and Prospect Park among many others, you also have an opportunity to visit the city before the busy and booming holiday season December brings.

November is also when the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade takes place, which requires some planning, but if you prepare ahead of time you can snag a hotel in NYC with a view of the parade.

Even if you can’t snag a view of the parade itself, you could still choose a hotel with a room that has an incredible view of the city skyline or the fall foliage in Central Park where you don’t even have to leave your bed for a view.

Planning a visit before the Thanksgiving festivities means that some of the city’s most iconic tourist attractions will be easier to get tickets and experience without as many people.

From popular observatories like the Edge which is always bursting at the seams with crowds, to soaking in the iconic views from the Empire State Building or Top of the Rock, to walking the Brooklyn Bridge, there’s a definite advantage to bundling up, avoiding the crowds, and enjoying the best things to do in NYC on a fall vacation.

Nashville, Tennessee

From Lance and Laura of Travel Addicts

Nashville makes a great fall vacation, and November is particularly good.

The autumn is festival season in Music City and the weather is particularly good. Combined, you’ve got a great November vacation.

November in Nashville means only one thing: awards season. The month is dominated by the annual Country Music Awards (CMAs).

Surrounding this massive spectacle are a number of smaller artist showcase events, charity benefits, listening lounges, and young hopefuls playing music on the street and hoping to catch someone’s ear.

There is no shortage of music and entertainment (and even parties to crash) in Music City in November.

But the music scene isn’t the only thing happening in Nashville. There are lots of great Nashville attractions to fill your days.

Yes, there’s the Grand Ole Opry and the Country Music Hall of Fame. But there are also historic mansions and important Civil Rights monuments.

And…there’s food. From BBQ and hot chicken to incredible Mexican and Asian fusion, there’s something for everyone.

Be sure to check out some of the great bars, breweries, and distilleries in town.

Phoenix, Arizona

From Brittany of Travel By Brit

When the rest of the country is bundling up and savoring the last moments of fall, residents of Phoenix, Arizona, are emerging from their homes to enjoy the most beautiful weather of the entire year!

With an average temperature of 75 degrees Fahrenheit and only two days of rain, Phoenix is the perfect November vacation in the US for those looking to experience an eternal summer.

You can challenge yourself with some of the best hikes in Phoenix, like Camelback Mountain and Piestewa Peak, or shop for local goods at the farmer’s markets in the area, like Uptown Farmers’ Marker and Downtown Phoenix Farmers Market.

If you’re looking to relax, you can stay at a luxury resort in Scottsdale (just a 20-minute drive from Downtown Phoenix), like The Scott Resort and Spa or the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, where you can lounge by the pool with a cocktail in hand.

If you’re feeling adventurous, take a day trip to Sedona to experience more awesome hikes, beautiful autumn colors, and of course, the picturesque red rocks!

No matter how you choose to spend your November vacation in Arizona, you’re sure to be met with beautiful weather and plenty of fun things to do outdoors.

Plymouth, Massachusetts

From Keri of Bon Voyage With Kids

One of the best places in the USA to visit in November is Plymouth, MA.

Located south of Boston, right on the coast, Plymouth is a beautiful small New England seaside town that is a wonderful place to visit for its beauty and most notably, its history.

It is the spot where the  Pilgrims landed in the 17th century, on a journey from England to escape religious persecution, and also where the first Thanksgiving took place.

You can visit Plimoth Pawtuxet (formerly Plimoth Plantation – and spelled differently than the town of Plymouth) to walk back in history and experience an English colony.

Actors take on the roles of real colonists and through conversation and demonstration will teach you about the Pilgrims’ journey, what life was like at the time, and how they collaborated with the native Wampanoags.

You can also explore a Wampanoag homestead, and learn about housing, tools, food, and what life was like for them during this time period, as well as their history and culture. But take note, the guides of this section are modern-day members of the Wampanoag tribe in Massachusetts, not actors.

In addition to exploring Plimoth Pawtuxet, you can actually enjoy a traditional harvest feast on Thanksgiving, making it a uniquely special experience in the USA.

Nearby attractions also include the site of Plymouth rock and the replica of the Mayflower ship, which is what brought the Pilgrims to what became America.

San Diego, California

From Sophia Bawany and Aamir Ghaffar of Fly Eat and Repeat

When November rolls around, almost everyone is gearing up for the holiday season. If you are looking for a place to relax before the Thanksgiving food coma, San Diego is the spot for you.

With some of the most pleasant weather in the country all year round, fall is especially scenic with views of San Diego’s Peninsular Ranges that wind through the county with spectacular fall color displays.

The city offers a perfect mix of culture, food, and just the right amount of classic California relaxation.

Immerse yourself in the city’s rich history and celebrate the Day of the Dead in Old Town.

If you are a beverage connoisseur, you will have a great time during San Diego Beer Week where there are over 150 independent craft breweries from November 6-15. The 10-day celebration is packed with events throughout the county at participating breweries, bars, restaurants, and more!

If you are planning to visit, know that the average temperature in San Diego in November during the day is around 69 F and rarely drops below 54 F, so a light jacket for during the day should suffice.

There is always something going on in beautiful San Diego and there really is no bad time to visit but with the fall colors in full bloom, November is extra special.

For a mix of city and sea, San Diego is a great USA November vacation spot.

Portland, Oregon

From Wendy of Empty Nesters Hit the Road

With cooling temperatures and colorful fall foliage (at least early in the month), Portland, Oregon is the perfect US vacation destination in November.

During the day the weather is usually nice for running, hiking, or biking, but at night when it gets cold there are plenty of cozy restaurants and bars to warm up and chill out.

Home to the enormous new and used bookstore, Powell’s, Portland has long been known as a book lovers city.

But in November, Powell’s gets even better with the Portland Book Festival.

Hear your favorite authors speak, attend writing workshops, or just browse a large selection of books, many from lesser-known writers. Book shopping in Portland is some of the best in the country.

But probably the best thing to do in Portland is to eat. Well known for its young chefs and cutting-edge restaurants, Portland is all about the food.

One of the best ways to experience the cuisine is at food cart pods (typically referred to as food trucks in other cities).

This is an excellent way to sample a variety of food for one meal. One of the best food cart pods is Portland Mercado, offering an array of Latin American food carts.

Asheville, North Carolina

From Alison of Exploration Solo

November is the perfect time to visit Asheville and explore the mountains of North Carolina.

The fall colors remain beautiful at lower elevations (the Chimney Rock area often peaks in November), and you’ll avoid the crowds.

Another benefit to November is the opportunity to see the crisp, bold blue giving the Blue Ridge its name. The colder air pushes out the haze that often blurs the view in warmer months.

Outdoor adventurers will enjoy the many hikes in the area without the annoying bugs that plague North Carolina in the spring and summer.

Enjoy an early morning hike watching your breath and hearing the crunch of leaves below your feet.

Evenings call for a jacket, and you’ll want to bundle up and enjoy one of the late-night ghost tours. Asheville has its darker history, and the guides are more than happy to tell the tales.

Downtown Asheville offers a fun day of exploring local stores and enjoying hot drinks.

When you’re feeling hungry, there are several restaurants in town from casual to white linen. Many of the microbreweries also serve food that pairs with their beers.

Asheville offers something for everyone. While you could come for a weekend, there’s so much to do, you’ll want a week.

San Francisco, California

From Haley of Haley Blackall Travel

Fall is an amazing time to visit San Francisco and is considered the best time of year, in general.

From September to November, the Bay Area typically experiences mild temperatures, mostly sunny days with some light rain here and there. November is considered shoulder season in the City of Fog.

Crowds have completely dispersed from the height of summer (ironic, considering the weather is actually warmer during fall!), resulting in a more local and authentic experience.

November brings the Illuminate SF Festival of Lights starting Thanksgiving weekend. Over 40 light installations can be viewed throughout the city by world-renowned artists.

When visiting in November, you can also experience the incredible Day of the Dead SF procession in the Mission District.

Classic things to do in San Francisco are still enjoyable during November. Try renting a bicycle and taking a ride over the Golden Gate Bridge to the charming town of Sausalito.

Also, while perusing the famous Pier 39, pop into the Ferry Building marketplace and try some local delights.

Richmond, Virginia

Recommended by Erin of Go Hike Virginia

There’s no question that Richmond is a fantastic fall travel destination in the USA.

This vibrant capital city wows with a dynamic public art scene, diverse dining options, a rich history, and loads of outdoor adventures, like hiking and kayaking.

A brand-new food hall opens up this fall in Richmond’s Manchester neighborhood. The Hatch Local Food Hall has seven food concepts, two bars, a market, and live music.

Once you get your fill, take a self-guided tour of gram-worthy murals. Spearheaded by the Richmond Mural Project, more than 100 colorful murals can be found on city walls all across town.

Keep the fun outside on Richmond’s urban trails. A favorite hike guides visitors along Texas Beach in James River Park.

This leafy hike wows with colorful foliage, rock scrambles, a historic gristmill, even colorful artwork courtesy of the James River Hikers.

A short two hours from Washington, DC, simply motor south along I-95 all the way to Richmond.

Arrive ready to eat since there are loads of delicious restaurants, like Mama J’s Kitchen for James Beard-nominated soul food. For breakfast, 521 Biscuits & Waffles is divine.

Los Angeles, California

From Dymphe of Dym Aabroad

One of the best destinations in the United States to visit in November is Los Angeles.

The city is known for Hollywood, Venice Beach, Santa Monica, and the city’s relaxed atmosphere. Furthermore, you find many interesting museums in the city. For example, The Getty is a great museum to visit.

Also, there are many Instagrammable places in LA that are great if you want to take photos.

One of the reasons to visit Los Angeles in November is great is the weather. The average temperature during this month is 73°F and it rains, on average, only 2 days in November. Besides that, many events take place in November.

For example, the Great Los Angeles Walk takes place then. This is an event where many people hike through the city together.

Another event is “Enchanted: Forest of Light”. During this event, which starts in November, you can walk a route where you can see light art installations along the way.

USA November Travel Destinations for Natural Beauty

Lake George, New York

From Megan of Bobo and Chichi

One of the most beautiful areas to visit in the fall is the popular resort town, Lake George in the Adirondack Mountains in Upstate New York.

By the time November comes around you may have missed the peak of fall foliage, but there are still amazing things to do in Lake George that make visiting in November worth your while.

This is a very popular destination in the summer and early fall meaning that the hotels and cabin rentals are extremely competitive to get.

By November, some of the best rentals in the area are up for grabs again to plan an outdoorsy getaway in one of the most beautiful mountain ranges on the East Coast.

Check out some of the hiking around Lake George and keep an eye out for wild bald eagle sightings.

There are hikes ranging all levels from the 100-mile views from the vista of Prospect Mountain to waterfall hikes like Shelving Rock Falls that are great for beginners.

If you’re a sports enthusiast you can catch an Adirondack Thunder Hockey game!

If you’re looking for family-friendly fun, check out the many different mini-golf courses around Lake George too, some of which are open year-round.

History lovers can enjoy a tour of Fort William Henry, the British fort that was used as a strategic military base between 1755-1757 during the French and Indian War.

Last but not least, there are several breweries and distilleries to check out during your visit too, one of the most popular is Bolton Landing Brewing Company.

Vero Beach, Florida

From Cortney of Tin Can Living

Vero Beach is a coastal city located on Florida’s Treasure Coast.

Vero Beach has been called “the world in miniature,” because it offers visitors a taste of the tropics, the Caribbean, and the Mediterranean all within walking distance from one another.

Vero Beach’s beaches boast warm water temperatures year-round with an average high of 86 degrees Fahrenheit in November, making it among the best warm places to visit in November in the USA.

Vero Beach also offers amazing shopping at many unique boutiques as well as dining opportunities that will please every palate!

The city offers art in the park expos every other Sunday during the winter months. There are tons of fun things to do. Some suggested places to visit include the botanical gardens and the Museum of Art.

If you are looking for a fantastic place to rest at night, check out Costa d’Este Beach Resort located downtown and right on the beach. The restaurant and bar make this location a fantastic lodging option.

Visiting Vero Beach in November is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a Florida vacation!

Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

From Jennifer of National Park Obsessed

Grand Canyon National Park is a wonderful National Park to visit in November.

While the North Rim is closed for the season, the more popular South Rim is open year-round.

The temperatures on the South Rim are cool and crisp and the Inner Canyon is mild and snow is unlikely.  The crowds have thinned from their summer high.

November is a great time for sunrise, sunset, and star viewing. The sunrises aren’t at an unholy hour in the morning and the sunset is early so it’s easy to see both without having a super long day.

Plus the early sunset means that the stars come out early in the evening. The Grand Canyon is an International Dark Sky Park so its star viewing is spectacular.

In addition to the sky viewing, November is a great time for hiking trails such as Bright Angel or South Kaibab Trail.

The mild temperatures make managing your water consumption a lot easier. Be sure to dress in layers as the temperature increase as you hike down into the canyon.

Columbia River Gorge, Oregon and Washington

From Adria of The Emerald Palate

The Columbia River Gorge is a breathtaking place to visit in November for vacation.

This 90-mile stretch of canyon was created millions of years ago by lava flows and now separates Washington and Oregon state.

The cliffs range from zero to 4,000 feet above the Columbia River raging at the bottom of the canyon, which makes for stunning views, hikes, and waterfalls.

November is a great time to visit Columbia River Gorge because it’s less crowded and the area is dotted with beautiful foliage.

Plus, it’s only about 45 minutes to the many Mt. Hood skiing areas, which typically have snow starting mid-November.

Here are must-see places during your November trip. Starting from Portland, head about 35 minutes east to Vista House. This architectural beauty was built in 1915 as a free spot for weary travelers to rest and take in views of the Gorge.

From there, head about 10 minutes to Latourell Falls and the famous Multnomah Falls.

Both can be seen after a relatively short hike. You can even see Multnomah Falls with a historic bridge spanning its center from the highway!

Stop in Hood River, Oregon to try one of the many area breweries, or check out the many wineries in the Columbia River Gorge AVA.

When you need a break between tastings, cross into Washington and check out Catherine Creek, another stunning area that lets you meander mostly flat trails right along the cliffs.

Death Valley National Park, California and Nevada

From Ale of Sea Salt & Fog

Given its name, you’d assume that Death Valley National Park is a barren landscape, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

While the park does have dangerously high temperatures in the summer months, November brings beautiful, mild weather.

Death Valley is stunning, with colorful desert landscapes, uninterrupted starry night skies, and out-of-this-world natural formations.

The park is home to the lowest point in all of the US: Badwater Basin, a large salt flat area that makes for cool photos.

Similarly, Artists Palette is an easy, picturesque drive where the mountains appear painted in striking colors.

Another must-do in Death Valley is watching the sunrise from Zabriskie Point where the mountains come alive in lovely, soft shades of pinks and purples. For sunset photos, the sand dunes are the place to be.

Stick around in the park after dark or go camping in Death Valley and you’ll have unspoiled, dark desert skies all to yourself.

The stargazing here is some of the best in the US thanks to Death Valley’s remote location.

Plan to spend at least one day in Death Valley. It’s an easy weekend trip from Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

No matter how much time you spend here, Death Valley is sure to delight.

Sanibel Island, Florida

From Lori of Naples Florida Travel Guide

Among the Gulf Coast barrier islands off the coast of Fort Myers, Sanibel Island is one of the most popular destinations in southwest Florida.

November is the perfect time to visit as well when the summer humidity has finally gone, temps are a balmy 80 degrees (F), and the winter seasonal crowds have not yet arrived.

Getting to Sanibel is super easy with Southwest Florida International airport (RSW) just minutes away.

You won’t find high-rise hotels, fast food chains, or glitzy clubs on Sanibel. In fact, the island is more wildlife than nightlife and is best known for its fiery sunsets and the thousands of colorful seashells that wash up on its shores each day.

It’s a natural island experience, highlighting coastal Florida before mass development.

The beaches here are largely uncrowded with gorgeous, soft white sand, and the J.N. “Ding” Darling Wildlife Preserve offers outdoor lovers a chance to experience the local flora and fauna without the crowds.

Or you can explore the entire island on 2 wheels on a dedicated bike path that runs the entire length of the island.

If you’re longing for a Florida island getaway in November without the crowds, Sanibel Island is a perfect choice!

Sedona, Arizona

From Heather of Wanderlust in Real Life

Sedona, AZ is a great place to visit in November. The temperatures are moderate and it typically still doesn’t get below freezing. The weather is absolutely perfect for hiking.

The hiking in Sedona is abundant! Some of the best hiking trails include Devils Bridge, Cathedral Rock, Little Horse Trailhead, Birthing Rock, and Bell Rock (which is a hike and also a vortex!).

Other than hiking, some great things to do in Sedona include driving the Red Rock Scenic Byway on AZ179 where there are many opportunities to pull off and admire the stunning views. The best times to do this are at sunrise and sunset.

Another great view during sunset is the lookout at Airport Mesa. The crowd can be large so be sure to be there early!

If you want to take in the scenery of the red rocks but not necessarily put in serious mileage hiking, Pink Jeep Tours is a really fun option.

They drive you around the back roads and you are able to experience the gorgeous more remote Sedona scenery.

Cedar Key, Florida

Vicky of Buddy The Traveling Monkey

One of the best destinations in the USA in November is Cedar Key, Florida.

This charming town is located in North Central Florida on the Gulf of Mexico. It has a laid-back attitude and it’s a perfect place to relax and wind down.

In November, the average high temperature is 71° and the low is 58° which is great for being outdoors.

Cedar Key is known for its outdoor activities like fishing, kayaking, camping, and hiking. The Cedar Key National Wildlife Refuge is also a fun place to explore, especially if you are a birder.

If you want to spend some time indoors, there are also many shops and restaurants in the downtown area. Steamers is a popular restaurant known for its seafood and Key Lime pie.

If you want to learn more about Cedar Key and its interesting history, you should definitely visit the Cedar Key Historical Society Museum. It is made up of two buildings that house artifacts that date back to prehistoric times.

Bend, Oregon

From Allison of She Dreams of Alpine

If you love outdoor adventures, the mountain town of Bend, Oregon makes a fantastic fall destination in November.

While Bend offers tons of fun all year round, in November you can hit the sweet spot of cooler temps without the summer crowds.

Smith Rock State Park is a must-visit when in Bend, and November is a perfect time to explore this desert-like landscape.

The weather will usually be just about perfect for hiking around the impressive volcanic rock formations, and if you’re a rock climber, you can climb to your heart’s content in the sun.

Another amazing attraction near Bend is the Tamolitch Blue Pool. This serene and stunning lake is a lovely 4-mile day hike, and if you go in early November, you might still catch it surrounded by colorful fall foliage. In late November, it will turn into a winter wonderland in the snow.

Finally, one of the best things to do in Bend is relaxed in one of the many natural hot springs in the area, and that’s the perfect way to stay nice and cozy on a crisp fall day.

Moab, Utah

From Daria of The Discovery Nut

As the gateway to both Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park, Moab is one of the most popular destinations in Utah among visitors.

Summers are the busiest in Moab, when thousands of tourists come to enjoy its national parks, raft in the Moab river, and mountain bike in the stunning red-rock country, among many other activities that Moab has to offer.

Besides the sweltering temperatures that can make spending time outside, let alone hiking downright difficult, summer is also the most expensive time to visit this part of Utah.

From hotels to restaurants and adventure tours, everyone is trying to make the most money during the busiest season in Moab.

With that in mind, fall is the perfect time to visit Utah’s red rock country.

The crowds are gone, the temperatures are mild to the point where you can spend time outdoors and score a deal on tours.

The downside of the colder season is that certain restaurants and businesses might be closed, but there’s still plenty of places to eat and adventure in Moab, so you will not run out of places.

However, make sure to bring warmer clothes, as it’s not uncommon for Moab to see some snow in November. Still, temperatures hover around the high 50s during the day and dip into the 20s at night.

Kauai is the lushest and most underrated of the Hawaiian islands. Its beauty is unmatched by the more popular islands of Oahu, Maui, or the Big Island.

Home to the stunning NaPali coast and Waimea Canyon, this island just begs to be explored.

The month of November is one of the best times to travel to Kauai. Flights and accommodations tend to be more affordable because the island is less in demand.

Staying in the popular Poipu area allows for easy access to most of the island, and provides a lot of accommodation options from luxury hotels to small condos.

Be sure to take a day trip to the north shore and check out all the best Kauai beaches like Anini Beach, Tunnels Beach, and Secret Beach.

Another perk to traveling to Kauai in November is that the foliage is still in bloom from the summer months and the heavy rainy season hasn’t quite started yet. It’s a fantastic time for hiking in Kauai, too.

1.

 Oaxaca, Mexico

Forget your usual Halloween night out, and head to Oaxaca to experience Mexico’s Day of the Dead. From October 31 to November 2, Mexicans welcome their loved ones’ spirits back to the world of the living with a big, beautifully macabre celebration mixing both indigenous and European traditions. Big orange puffs of cempasuchil flowers line the bustling markets, altars are covered with Calaveras (decorative skulls), candles and Catholic iconography, and a massive street party kicks off with fireworks, music, dancers and performers on stilts.

2. Thailand

Post-rainy season, November is a great time to head to Thailand’s jungles and beaches. You can hit all the usual spots, but consider some of Thailand’s lesser-known yet equally beautiful places like Pranburi. With secluded natural beaches and spread-out boutique accommodation options, the area’s still better known for fishing than tourism. There are mangrove forests to explore, and the spectacular Tham Phraya Nakhon cave is just along the coast—inside, the country’s smallest temple is bathed in sunlight from an opening in the rock above.

3. Yukon, Canada

Attention’s been on Canada’s sparsely populated, mountainous territory Yukon over the last year or so, thanks to the movie Call of the Wild (about a domesticated dog who’s stolen from California and sold to sleigh dog racers, starring Harrison Ford). November marks the start of the winter season in this freezing wilderness—explore on skis, take a snowmobile or go ice-fishing. The film is set in the 1890s, during the Gold Rush, so check out some Klondike Gold Rush history in Dawson City, too. And then wait for the skies to light up with Aurora Borealis at night.

4.

 Hong Kong

Hong Kong has always been a looker: with its instantly recognisable skyline of densely packed skyscrapers and lush, green peaks, and its uniquely East-meets-West feel. By November, the drenching heat eases off to a gentle autumn warmth. Tick off Victoria Peak, the Star Ferry and a cable car to the Big Buddha on Lantau Island, then head out to hip hood Sai Ying Pun, on the western side of Hong Kong Island. On its clattering streets, historic dried seafood stalls share space with many hot new cafés, bars and restaurants—including Balinese export Potato Head.

5. Morocco

While Marrakech got all the attention as Africa’s first Capital of Culture for 2020, history and culture also abound in other Moroccan cities. Take liberal Tangier, for example, with its 1950s beat poet history: Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg drank in The Tangerinn, while William S Burroughs wrote Naked Lunch in Hotel El Muniria. A short hop over the Med from Spain, Tangier’s art galleries offer a sense of this port city’s exciting collision of Europe and African culture, while its medina is smaller and more manageable than Marrakech.

6. Oman

Where’s the world’s longest zip line? Most people’s first guess wouldn’t be Oman. But the Arabian sultanate has been seriously ramping up its efforts to bring in tourists to the country, with the promise of easy visas and that epic zipline – which is planned for the picturesque mountain village Misfat Al Abriyeen. That has been the plan for a couple of years now, so expect plenty of queues when it eventually opens. But despite its world’s longest zipline bid, Oman is everything nearby Dubai isn’t: generally favouring low-rise Middle Eastern charm and Bedouin traditions over being the biggest or showiest. So expect natural beauty and friendly locals. The almost constant sunshine doesn’t hurt, either.

7. Dublin

Nothing beats the warm, fuzzy feeling of stepping out of the winter cold and into a warm, cosy pub. And Dublin does an unbeatable line in warm, inviting boozers—from low-lit watering holes that have barely changed since Victorian times to drinking spots known for their live music and rabble-rousing atmosphere. Head to the 250-year-old Long Hall for obscure ales with extra character, The Cobblestone in Smithfield’s for quaintness in spades and live music, or settle in for a session at Toners. It has a short but sweet whisky list and strong literary ties—it’s rumoured to have been the only place WB Yeats would go for a drink.

8. Tasmania

Having successfully flipped its image from snoozing backwater to a food and art hotspot with ample natural beauty, Australia’s rugged island state is on a tourism high. To beat the crowds, head over in November before summer truly kicks in. The Change Overnight Hotel, a boutique apartment-style hotel where guests are invited to choose one of eight causes that their stay will contribute to, has been a revelation. Base yourself here to explore the historic city of Launceston, meet the peacocks in the picturesque Cataract Gorge, and visit the Southern Wild Distillery in Devonport for gin made using locally foraged botanicals. Then head south for cultural hub Hobart.

9. Egypt

With visitor numbers steadily picking up, you might want to get in there and see the Pyramids quick. This year the new Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo remains unopened (November 2022 is the plan), meaning antiquities such as Tutankhamun’s gold mask and a behemoth, 83-tonne, fist-clenching statue of Ramses II are almost within reach. Still, history is tangible here, and it oozes out every nook and cranny. The Sphinx International Airport on the Giza side of the city should make it easier to drop in for an immersive ancient history lesson from the country’s beaches too.

10. Turkey

Turkey has been staging a comeback of late, and we’re more than happy about that. Socialite season is over and it’s not sunbathing weather anymore—but that means Bodrum’s crowds will be gone. Explore the whitewashed Aegean city and its fourth-century BC Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, then check out the castle. Be sure to take in Istanbul, too, especially for the emerging Kadıköy district. Its Çiya Sofrası restaurant, serving forgotten Anatolian dishes, also appeared on Chef’s Table.

Bodrum is chosen not only by those who like to relax on the beach near the clear water, but also by lovers of intense nightlife. The city consists of 2 parts. One half, the eastern one, has a long, narrow beach, behind which are various bars, clubs and restaurants. The second half, western, is focused on lovers of a relaxing holiday and is centered around the yacht club and marina. Due to the frequent winds, Bodrum is also loved by supporters of surfing and other water sports.

The German word “Kurort” does not need to be translated – a place for rest, recuperation, improvement health. For seaside resorts in Germany, a special designation is used – “Seebad”, that is, a beach resort. At the same time, not every city or town on the coast of the Baltic or North Seas or one of the numerous German islands here, or the entire island as a whole, can officially use this designation.

In order to obtain the “Seebad” status, you must meet certain requirements that are determined by the federal states. Even more extensive and special requirements are imposed on the medical and recreational seaside resorts – “Seeheilbad”. Such places should have spa doctors, the distance to the beach from the center should not exceed two kilometers, stricter control of air and water quality should be implemented, certified and medically proven therapies should be offered, and so on.

Here are ten of the most famous and popular German beach resorts. The list is in no particular order, but let’s start with the most famous.

    Island of Sylt

The island of Sylt (Sylt), aka Sylt, is reputed to be a favorite vacation spot for celebrities and the rich, but this does not mean that the rest of the entry here closed. The western sandy beach of this North Frisian island stretches for four dozen kilometers. Everyone will find here a place to their taste and preferences. Last year Sylt was visited by almost 870,000 tourists. Each of them spent an average of about seven days here.

    Borkum Island

Borkum is part of the East Frisian Islands. It received the status of a medical resort back in 1830, thanks to the sea air highly saturated with salt ions and the climate, especially favorable for allergy sufferers. The shallow water adjacent to the island is part of the Lower Saxon Wadden Sea National Park.

The island has not only sandy beaches, but also trails for hiking and horseback riding. The special Youth Beach (Jugendbad) welcomes loud music and fun, as well as volleyball, football and kite flying.

    Rügen

Rügen is the largest German island. Over a million guests annually. Vacationers began to come here two hundred years ago, when the first resorts were founded here in the neighborhood of poor fishing villages, primarily for the nobility and wealthy public from Berlin. The characteristic attributes of Rügen and other German beaches are such wicker baskets – Strandkörbe.

The main architectural symbol of Rügen is the marine pile pier in the resort town of Sellin – Seebrücke Sellin, restored in 1997. He goes into the sea for as much as four hundred meters. The most popular on Rügen are the many kilometers of beaches in Binz, as well as on the Schaabe spit.

    Hiddensee Island

From Rügen you can quickly take a ferry to one of the most romantic German islands, Hiddensee. The movement of vehicles equipped with internal combustion engines is prohibited here. Its length does not exceed 17 kilometers, its width is much less. They travel around the island in carts, electric cars and bicycles, but even more pleasant is to walk.

The island of Hiddensee gained wide popularity at the beginning of the last century, thanks to the German Nobel Prize winner in literature Gerhart Hauptmann, who willingly spent the summer months here in his cozy dacha.

    Juist island

Juist island, aka Just. Another German island without cars. Its length is 17 kilometers. At the same time, the maximum width does not exceed one kilometer, and the minimum – 500 meters. Only one and a half thousand people live here, but about 9 people stay in its hotels and guesthouses a year.5 thousand tourists. A few years ago, the public broadcaster NDR named it the most leisurely and beautiful island in Northern Germany.

    Sankt Peter-Ording

Sankt Peter-Ording on the coast of Schleswig-Holstein is popular among those who love kitesurfing. Here is one of the longest sandy beaches on the west coast of Germany. St. Peter-Ording is also the only seaside resort in Germany, which has a bathing area with hydrogen sulfide baths. The water on the local beaches at low tide recedes by almost 200 meters. Every year, 250 thousand people spend their holidays on this island. Plus, several hundred thousand more come here to swim here for one day without spending the night.

    Island of Usedom

The island of Usedom is located in the Baltic Sea near the mouth of the Oder River and is divided between Germany and Poland. The most famous resorts in the German part of the island are Ahlbeck, Bansin and Heringsdorf. Tourism began to develop here at the turn of the century before last. Notable guests included the writers Thomas Mann, Theodor Fontane and Kurt Tucholsky.

Ahlbeck is home to the oldest pile pier in Germany. This island also has the longest coastal promenade in Europe, stretching for almost 8. 5 kilometers. The total length of the beaches exceeds four dozen kilometers. Usedom is popular with cyclists. The annual number of visitors to the German part of the island is approaching the one million mark.

    Amrum Island

On the island of Amrum in the North Sea is one of the widest sandy beaches in Germany – Kniepsand. It is 1.5 kilometers wide and 16 kilometers long. Amrum is also famous for its nature and is home to many endangered and rare animal and plant species.

At low tide, you can walk along the shallow coastal waters with your guide on the wet bottom barefoot to the neighboring island of Föhr. Note that it is extremely dangerous to go on such walks without professional accompaniment, since the tide of the Wadden Sea comes quickly and can cut off belated travelers from the shore.

    Timmendorfer Strand

The seaside resort Timmendorfer Strand is located 15 kilometers from the Hanseatic city of Lübeck in Schleswig-Holstein. The coast here is gentle, the depth increases gradually, which makes it especially suitable for families with children. Timmendorfer Strand received the status of a seaside medical resort in 1951. At the same time, new hotels and other resort buildings were erected. Every year more than 180 thousand people come here to relax, and the number of overnight stays exceeds 1.2 million. In the neighborhood there are many private coastal villas and houses.

    Prerow

We end our walk on the North Beach of the Baltic resort of Prerow (Prerower Nordstrand) in Vorpommern – on the peninsula between Rostock and Stralsund . Although it is the last one on our list, the importance of Preroff should not be underestimated, and many holidaymakers generally consider this five-kilometer beach to be the most beautiful in Germany. Part of this beach is given to nudists, and already half a century ago. In addition to the beach, you can visit the 400-meter marine pile pier, stroll along the coastal boulevard or look into the center of the former fishing village, which turned into a seaside resort more than a century ago.

Where to stay cheap in November 2022

    Egypt

    UAE

    Thailand

The last month of autumn is unlikely to be able to please even those who live in the south of our country with the weather, let alone other regions: frosts come, the first snow falls. Therefore, it is so good to go to warm countries, where the sea, the sun, fruits and good mood.

If you are interested in where to relax in November, then feel free to choose Southeast Asia , where the tourist season starts around this time.

Thailand, which is so appreciated by our compatriots, is perfect. A beach holiday awaits you in Pattaya or on the islands of Koh Chang, Phuket, Koh Samui and others.

The hotel base is quite diverse and everyone can find a suitable option. In addition, this country has one of the richest and most interesting excursion programs. For example, you are waiting for trips to Bangkok with a visit to the Royal Residence, temples and one of the largest zoos in the world

Oriental lovers will also appreciate Vietnam, where you can relax quite inexpensively. Beaches Phan Thiet and Nha Trang will appeal to both young people and family tourists. You can try exotic dishes and get acquainted with the history of the country, take a cruise on Bay Ha-Long , visit crocodile farms, forests inhabited by hundreds of monkeys and even ride ostriches.

And for those who love Indian culture, we recommend going to Goa in November.

The northern part of the state will appeal to young and unpretentious travelers. The hotels here are quite simple, the service is unobtrusive, while the prices are pleasing, and there is just a lot of entertainment – from visiting night markets to crazy beach parties with famous trance music.

The southern part of is suitable for those who like a more secluded holiday. In terms of picturesqueness, local beaches are difficult to compare with something else. A multi-kilometer coastal strip with excellent white sand, clear water of the Arabian Sea and an atmosphere of absolute calm and tranquility – this is what Alolem, Benaulim and other beaches will give you.

If suddenly you were unable to go on vacation in the summer, then do not despair. We can say that you are even lucky, because you will be able to appreciate the beauty, splendor and originality of Asia.

Where to go in November from St.

    Petersburg (St. Petersburg)

    november tours

    !

The month of November is that borderline time in St. Petersburg, when the “golden autumn” has already ended, the number of sunny days catastrophically tends to “0”, the day itself is getting shorter. And you can’t see it behind the clouds. The New Year is still almost two months away. The weather can please us with both +10 degrees of heat and zero temperature with sleet. Autumn depression creeps up, the soul asks for sun and warmth!

And it is precisely in the month of November, at its beginning, according to historical tradition, that almost every worker has the opportunity to arrange a rest, a small respite from the St. Petersburg autumn. Since in the month of November 2014 we are waiting for 4 days off in a row, and if we add to them three working days taken as a day off, and almost as many as 11 days of vacation! How can you use them to your advantage? Where to go in November?

November holidays – beach or excursions?

The answer to this question is you, dear customers. And only you. And only you can decide where to go in November. Those who already miss the warmth, the sea, the beach and exotic fruits, who like to spend time meditating to the sound of the sea, will choose a beach holiday. And those who want to use this time to get acquainted with something new or just take a walk along the quiet old European streets, they can choose excursions to their liking. Our task is to give you all the information available to us so that you can make your choice!

    Excursions to Europe

Autumn is the time to visit Europe with an excursion program. Yes, the breath of autumn is also felt there, the temperature, especially at night, can be unpleasantly surprising. But it will be, all the same, warmer than in native St. Petersburg. There is another big plus in sightseeing trips in November. At this time, the main flow of tourists is reduced, and you have the opportunity to walk relatively calmly and get acquainted with the main tourist attractions! At this time, prices for tourist services are reduced, and sales begin in stores. And given the short distances in Europe, you can organize excursions to several countries and cities in Europe at once. Do not forget about the opportunity to go on a sea cruise.

    Czech

The Czech Republic, namely Prague, is the first place in Europe where we recommend going. The most beautiful city in the world is beautiful even in November. The climate in the Czech Republic is quite mild, the tourist sea that filled the streets of Prague in the summer has become a little shallower. And you will have the opportunity to calmly (relatively calmly) view this city, admire its architecture and drink the famous Czech beer! And you can go to the famous Karlovy Vary spa for treatment.

    Italy

This time in Italy is ideal for excursions, visits to museums and walks along the streets of ancient cities. The weather is still quite warm and sunny, there are relatively few tourists.

    Germany

November is not the best time to visit Germany. Although, if you stock up on warm clothes, then you can have a good time in Germany. Like almost everywhere, the weather differs by region.

And if in the northern part of the country it may already be cool, then in the southern part the weather can please with the sun and +15°C. See museums, walk along the cozy streets of German cities, drink good German beer with famous German sausages!

    France

For lovers of good wine – here is just a paradise (all year round). The weather in November here is very different depending on the region of stay. What to watch? Of course – Paris! Museums, exhibitions, performances are waiting for you. You can and should go on a tour of the castles of the Loire. You can visit the Cote d’Azur, stop by Lyon. In France, you will definitely not be bored, and there will always be not enough time to see everything.

    Hungary

Budapest. This city is not often mentioned by our tourists when they name places they would like to see. But in vain! Budapest is great. And some of our St. Petersburg tourists claim that having been in Budapest, they felt at home there. In the best sense of the word! Why? Maybe because of the fog that shrouds Budapest at this time of year? No matter. Just visit there!

    Finland

The main tourist season in Finland is winter. When winter sports become available. And in November you can go fishing in Finland by renting a cottage. However, it all depends on the weather. It is she who will indicate what to take: fishing rods or skis! You can also go on a sightseeing tour just to walk along the streets and sit in cozy cafes.

    Spain

It is no longer the beach season, but it is quite comfortable for excursions and recreation! The weather is quite warm and sunny, and you can still get a light tan! Prices for vacationers are reduced by 1. 5-2 times, which makes holidays in Spain quite affordable. Exhibitions, walks, museums, olive festival 9November – all this will not let you get bored in Spain.

    Greece

November in Greece is a time that you can devote to excursions to historical places, to get to know ancient culture better. And you can go on a shopping tour, for example, for a fur coat! The Greek cities of Kastoria and Paralia Katerini have long been known all over the world, thanks to the production of fur products here. They say that the production of fur coats in Kastoria is already more than 6 centuries old!

    Sports tourism

Austria, France, Switzerland, Norway, Finland and South Korea – for lovers of winter sports

In these European countries, the season of winter sports opens – skiing and snowboarding. So, fans of winter sports should go here. And the descent from the mountains can be alternated with gatherings in small restaurants in the villages and towns surrounding the resorts. You can go skiing in South Korea, in the Dragon Valley. This is a growing Korean resort.

    Windsurfing and kitesurfing

Do you like snow and ice? Do you love the sea and the sun, but being a “vegetable under a sun lounger” is not your style? Do you love kitesurfing and windsurfing? Then Vietnam, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Brazil and Peru are waiting for you!

    beach holiday

    Egypt

November is a good time to visit the Red Sea. At this time, the weather there is quite comfortable, the temperature is only + 25 ° – + 27 °, the water is + 25 °. A visa is not required to travel to Egypt, prices for tourist services are reduced. The best thing is to calmly take a break from the hustle and bustle, work and bask on the beach. Those who wish can go on excursions around the country, there are a lot of historical places and attractions in Egypt! The only thing that can reduce the radius of excursions is the “stormy” political life in the country.

In this case, you can just stay in a resort by the sea. It’s quiet and calm there. In the East, they know a lot about rest, you won’t be bored, and the all-inclusive service will add positive emotions.

    Vietnam

November is the beginning of the holiday season in Vietnam. At the very beginning of the month, you have a chance not to see all those who come here on vacation. The weather in the northern and southern parts of the country can be quite different. Vietnam stretches along the sea from North to South. No, it’s warm everywhere, it’s just +21° in the north of the country, and +30° in the south. Our advice is, for those who want more excursions, it is better to go to the north of Vietnam. And for those who want the sun and the sea – to the south of Vietnam. Here the daytime temperatures are +30°, the water is very warm. The main thing is to immediately smear with a protective cream so as not to instantly burn out in the sun.

    Thailand

Cool resorts, service, beaches, sea and, of course, Thai massage!

    Maldives

“The Pearl Necklace of the Indian Ocean” – this is also called the Maldives, this is a small state located on islands and coral reefs. White sand, blue sea, greenery, excellent service, comfortable weather – this is a small paradise on earth.

    Turkey

“All-Russian health resort” – this is how this country can be called for its popularity among Russian vacationers. The absence of visas, good service, oriental flavor, warm sea and beaches – all this allowed Turkey to gain popularity among Russian (and not only Russian) tourists. In November, autumn is already felt in Turkey. On some days, the sea temperature may be higher than the air temperature. The weather is quite changeable, warm days alternate with cool ones. At this time, Turkey has an abundance of fruits that cost a penny. and definitely worth a try. Nothing to do with what is sold in our stores. November in Turkey is a time that you can devote to excursions and getting to know the country. Prices are significantly reduced for the entire range of tourist services.

    UAE

Velvet season begins in the UAE in November. You can head here to relax in luxury resorts or go shopping. Active recreation is also available for tourists here: diving, crab hunting, yacht regatta, camel riding, car or boat races. The only inconvenience is the need to comply with some local restrictions, since the UAE is a Muslim country with fairly strict religious orders.

    Israel

Some time ago, Israel canceled visas for Russians coming on vacation. This attracted a large number of Russian tourists to this country. In November, the rains begin in Israel, this is the only thing that can somewhat overshadow the rest. The air temperature varies by region: for example, in Haifa during the day it is above +20° +22°, water +21° – +23°. It is even cooler in Nazareth, Jerusalem and Bethlehem +17° +19°. And in Eilat the air temperature is +25° +27°, water +23° +25°. The water in the Dead Sea does not cool down below +20° +22°С. In Israel, you will have access to: beach holidays, excursions to historical biblical places and spa and health services! Israel is famous for its

    medicine

. And you can be examined by combining the useful with the pleasant (rest and taking care of your health).

    Dominican Republic

Another heavenly place to stay. But the beginning of November is the time of the end of the season of rains and storms. There is a risk of catching this very rainy season. Of course, it will be much warmer there than in St. Petersburg in our “rainy season”, but we would not recommend going there in early November.

    Mexico

If you are not afraid of large flights, pay attention to Mexico. At this time, the weather here is comfortable dry and warm. Mexico has great beaches, and the water temperature is + 27-29°C. In Mexico, it will also be interesting for those who do not like to lie on the beach a lot. The ancient culture of the Maya and the Aztecs is a paradise for the curious and lovers of historical secrets. Mexico is a good choice for a beach holiday and sightseeing holiday.

Minus – the flight and the cost of the tour.

    India (Goa) and Sri Lanka

Great weather, great nature, great beaches and reasonable prices. These places are well-deservedly popular among Russian tourists.

Minus one – a long flight.

Rest, treatment, hunting and fishing – Russia

Do not forget that we live in the largest country in the world. And we also have places worthy of attention and visiting. For example, you can go on vacation to

    Altai

. Picturesque nature, healing air, and qualified staff (if you go to the sanatorium Rodnik Altai). Especially for you, the sanatorium Rodnik Altai has prepared various programs that will help you have a good rest and improve your health!

    And you can go to

    Kamchatka

. Have you never been there? But do you like hunting and fishing? Do you love wild and pristine nature? We are ready to help you realize your dream.

    Outcome

Those places that we mentioned above are far from a complete list where you can go on vacation in November from St. Petersburg. And we are also waiting
