    I remember this movie

I was just so pleasantly surprised and touched by the sweet sadness of this movie, even at a young age. I have rarely seen African Americans portrayed on screen as people (not stereotypes) who spoke to each other intelligently and dealt with issues in a civilized manner. This movie also made me aware of the vast difference in culture between Black Africans and Black Americans. All around wonderful film. This is the type of film the entire family can watch and enjoy. There is not a lot of car chases or explosions so you can watch and think about what the characters are going through, how they are feeling and how this is influenced by the difference in culture. I would like to see this film aired more often and I recommend it highly.

    Praia, Cape Verde

    Prainha beach in Cape Verde

    Daily average temperatures in December: High 82°F (28°C) / Low 70°F (21°C)

While Praia is mostly used as a stopover destination to other islands in the region, we would suggest giving it a chance and staying a bit longer.

Being the capital city of Cape Verde (locally Cabo Verde), just off the coast of West Africa, you get the infrastructure along with the gorgeous beaches like Praínha or Quebra Canela. There are also shops and restaurants in the Achada de Santo António quarter.

Known by the locals as “Plateau”, Praia is actually built up high and lives up to its nickname and is quite hilly, so you can get your cardio in if you choose to wander around. Or you can just laze about on the beaches in the heat of the day.

From Praia, venture off onto the other islands of Cape Verde for that Robinson Crusoe feeling. Sal and Boa Vista are the two most famous spots and are particularly well known for their picture-perfect beaches and idyllic turquoise-blue waters, diving spots, and water sports activities.

    Daily average temperatures in December: High 78°F (26°C) / Low 49°F (9°C)

Skip Cancun and Cabo for a culturally-rich festive season. With temperate days and chilly nights, Oaxaca is the place to be for foodies and culture vultures.

December is Christmas season in Oaxaca and is filled with opportunities to celebrate both religiously and socially. The people of Oaxaca seamlessly combine their religious faith with their indigenous values of community sharing.

Join the fun as the kids dress up like Mary and Joseph and the shepherds, and then make a procession through the streets. There’s the ubiquitous breaking of the piñata, the “Posadas” (religious processions) which start from December 16 and continue to December 24 and the “Calendas”, a procession of dancing puppets and people with torches.

And if you love carving pumpkins during Halloween, you’ll adore December 23, which is known as “Night of the Radishes” (Noche de los Rábános) where oversized radishes are carved to create scenes that compete for prizes in various categories.

    Daily average temperatures in December: High 83°F (28°C) / Low 74°F (23°C)

The Dominican Republic and Haiti make up the island of Hispaniola in the Caribbean. The weather in the Dominican Republic during December is at its absolute optimum, which means both brilliant snorkeling, diving, and whale watching, but it is also the peak season.

But don’t only dive into the waters, take a deep dive into the history and culture of this very unique country, which is a blend of European, African and Taíno elements, where the people are as warm as the weather.

The country is pretty small, where it only takes around 6 hours to drive from one end to the other. This means you can really get to exploring all the hidden gems with almost no effort. Moai in Easter Island

    Daily average temperatures in December: High 78°F (25°C) / Low 65°F (18°C)

Easter Island in Chile is a bucket list destination for many avid travelers because of the miraculous Easter Island Heads or Moʻai (pictured above), carved by the Rapa Nui people some time between the years 1250 and 1500. If you’re wondering when the best time to visit Easter Island is, then we suggest you consider December.

December sees a warm climate as it’s in the Southern Hemisphere, as well as light crowds, so it’s the ideal time to discover the various sites of the island. Take a saunter along the meandering north-west coastal path to explore the fallen Mo’ai, the gorgeous pastures or the iconic South Pacific scenery.

There are plenty of water sports too including surfing or diving. One of the top diving activities is to go on a guided diving adventure to see the additional Moʻai underneath the water near Hanga Roa.

    Luang Prabang, Laos

    Luang Prabang at dusk

    Daily average temperatures in December: High 79°F (26°C) / Low 57°F (14°C)

Laos has two very distinct seasons. The first, and the one we like to avoid, is the hot and wet season between May and October. Our preferred time of travel is through the cooler and drier months of November to April. We aren’t fans of being stuck indoors while the monsoons bring days of showers. There are more activities and cultural exploration in the dry season.

December is not only dry and sunny, but there are cool temperatures and blue skies throughout the country. So, Luang Prabang is not only one of the top warm places in December, it is also among the most popular times to travel and the UNESCO listed city center is just at its most stunning then.

Go on one of the infamous hikes, cycle around the area or go spelunking in the caves. Marvel at the incredibly intricate ancient Buddhist temples of Wat Xieng Thong and Wat Mai, go kayaking along the mighty Mekong, trek through the Phousi Mountain or up to the stunning powdery blue Kuang Si Waterfalls, or wander through the Handicraft Night Market.

Luang Prabang is a tiny and very safe town so it an be easily explored on foot over a 2-3 days but it is precisely this coziness that makes it such a great solo warm December destination.

    Hoi An, Vietnam

    Hoi An at night

    Daily average temperatures in December: High 79°F (26°C) / Low 68°F (20°C)

Vietnam is a long country, spanning a length of about 650 miles (1,050 km) from the border of Cambodia in the south to China in the north and, as such, it goes through two monsoon seasons.

The southern monsoon is from May to September and hits Ho Chi Minh and the northeast monsoon runs from October to April and affects Hanoi in the north. Hoi An is right in the center of the country, so most of the rainy days are between September and January. December is thus warm and usually experiences rain in the early mornings and afternoons.

We have personally explored the entire Central Vietnam, which includes (among other places) the ruins of ancient temples in My Son, the beach resorts of Da Nang, the culturally-rich imperial city of Hue, UNESCO My Son and the lantern-filled streets of Hoi An.

It is an extremely culturally rich area with a deep history, four UNESCO World Heritage Sites and an important past as the center of political influence during the Champa Empire. This is why it’s known as the Cultural capital of Vietnam.

Hoi An sees milder temperatures in December, compared to the sweltering heat and monsoons of summer. So it’s probably the best time to visit as the heat makes travel a little uncomfortable.  It is also one of the quietest times to visit as European travelers stay home with family.

    Galle & Yala, Sri Lanka

    Galle beach in Sri Lanka

    Daily average temperatures in December: High 85°F (29°C) / Low 74°F (23°C)

The drier months of December to April are by far the best time to visit Galle and Yala, in Sri Lanka’s south and southeast.

In general Sri Lanka has a lot to offer from its unique Portuguese, Dutch and British colonial history to its beautiful local culture and thus has something for everyone but we like Galle because of its rich heritage and chic vibe. Plus with the recently constructed highway the town is only 2h drive from Colombo

From the Dutch period, you can visit various historical sites like the Dutch Fort and Groote Kerk (the Dutch Reformed Church). There is the natural beauty which allows for slow and relaxing activities from hiking to bike riding and many colonial structures steeped in heritage. Visit the gigantic lagoon for some canoeing or do some mountain biking around magical Unawatuna and Japanese Peace Pagoda.

Travel a bit further north and you’ll get to the absolutely miraculous Yala, where you can see 44 mammal species, 215 bird species and even the famous Sri Lankan leopard.

Yala has the highest concentration of leopards in the world. Take a day trip to Yala’s Block 1 to see the wildlife or stay longer at Block 5 in one of the luxurious resorts. We would highly recommend a stay at Uga Chena Huts, which has easy access to Block 1.

    Jagmandir Palace in Udaipur

    Daily average temperatures in December: High 72-77°F (22-25°C) / Low 52°F (11°C)

The entire state of Rajasthan is a fantastically warm place in December to visit and one of our most favorite parts of India.

The best time to visit Rajasthan is during the cooler months of November to February, the heat during the summer month can be extreme and uncomfortable and the rain closes many roads. Because the monsoon season ends in October, November sees a lot of smoke as a result of the slash and burn agricultural practices making breathing difficult in many urban parts of India, while by December skies have cleared.

Pro tip: While India can be overwhelming to solo female travelers, Rajasthan is tamer and more tourist-friendly. November. andDecember are peak wedding months and it is not unusual to come across celebrations every day or hear the music throughout the city no matter where you stay, you may want to bring earplugs.

First up is Jaipur, known as the Pink City due to the exclusive color of the buildings, particularly the iconic Hawa Mahal. The entire walled city is a complete UNESCO heritage site with major sites that include Amer Fort, Jaipur City Palace, the floating Jal Mahal, Jaigarh Fort, the Panna Meena Ka Kund or Chand Baori stepwell and Nahargarh Fort.

Jodhpur on the other hand is the emblematic Blue City with its blue Brahmin houses surrounding the contrastingly red Royal Mehrangarh Fort. Apart from the houses, there is the Ghanta Ghar clock tower, shopping at Sardar market, the intricate Toorji-Ka-Jhalra stepwell, or even zip-lining around the fort which we did at sunset and it was good fun.

Jaisalmer is another colorful city in Rajasthan known as the Golden City for its sand houses glowing like gold in the desert sunr. Once a thriving city along the Silk Road, Jaisalmer is now mostly visited for the beautiful architecture and the unique desert location along the outskirts of the inhospitable Thar Desert.

White Udaipur is called the City of Lakes, because of the many man-made bodies of water dotting with floating palaces. Most well known for 1983’s James Bond Octopussy, Lake Pichola has become an icon of the city with the Taj Lake Palace (Jag Niwas) and Jagmandir, or the Maharana pleasure palace. There isn’t a more romantic place than Udaipur, we promise, but even as a solo traveler you will have a great time.

    Daily average temperatures in December: High 79°F (26°C) / Low 48°F (9°C)

Known as the driest place on earth, the Atacama Desert is a must for nature lovers. This desert plateau in northern Chile sits just west of the Andes Mountains and covers roughly 1,600km on the Pacific coast. It may be dry, but it’s teaming with life.

There is a diverse range of both flora and fauna, with wild alpacas roaming the mountains, but the star of the show is the unique jaw-dropping landscapes of the Valley if the Moon and the vast salt flats, active geysers and intense blue lagoons.

Pro tip: Speaking of stars, Atacama Desert is one of the best places in the world to view the constellations due to the clear skies. Beware the altitude (the geysers are at close to 4,000m above sea level) and the dramatic changes in temperatures from sunny daytime to freezing nights.

    Giraffes at Etosha National Park

    Daily average temperatures in December: High 84°F (29°C) / Low 66°F (19°C)

December in Namibia is slightly humid and generally hot during the day. Nights are cooler and can actually get pretty cold in the desert, but this will depend on where in the country you’re based. As it isn’t too rainy during December, all the animals will be out in Etosha National Park. So you’ll be able to spot all the wildlife from antelopes and giraffes to elephants, rhino, cheetah and a host of migratory birds.

The usually arid Sossusvlei is cooled down a bit by the sporadic summer rains falling over sand dunes, so you can happily visit all the best that this slice of desolate beauty has to offer from the otherworldly Deadvlei or the massive Dune 45 to epic hot air balloon rides. Our recommendation is to stay at a desert location for the night where you can see the clear stars.

    Daily average temperatures in December: High 82°F (28°C) / Low 69°F (21°C)

We are massive fans of Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. It’s a walkable city with an opulent foodie scene (think pizza, gelato, grilled meats, dulce de leche) and a rich heritage with strong Spanish and Italian influences. Plus December is great month to visit as it is the start of the summer so the city makes for a fantastic December warm destination.

Probably the best thing to do in Buenos Aires is dive into the cultural activities. Many people don’t know but there are more theatres in Buenos Aires than any other city outside New York, as well as more bookstores per capita than anywhere else. El Ateneo Grand Splendid, for example, is a theater which was renovated into a bookstore!

There are also museums to explore like Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes and Museo de Arte Hispanoamericano Isaac Fernández Blanco, Baroque architecture like the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Pilar, as well as unique sites like Recoleta Cemetery, or Palacio Barolo, which is a homage to the Divine Comedy.

    Daily average temperatures in December: High 88°F (31°C) / Low 70°F (21°C)

Adrenaline junkies will love a visit to the Land of Volcanoes or El Salvador. One of the top active volcanoes to hike up is Santa Ana which has been active since the 16th century and last erupted in 2005, its first eruption in more than 100 years.

There is little precipitation during the festive month and even though it’s one of the coldest for Salvorian standards, it’s a pretty hot month to visit.

After climbing the volcano, head over to La Ruta de Las Flores, which is a beautiful route to explore the country’s culture, food, traditions, but most importantly, its coffee. You can find many coffee plantations to sample the beans as well as many well preserved colonial towns.

Do’t miss the Mercado de Las Velas market in Nahuizalco, the Weekend Food Fair in Juayua, or ziplining in Apaneca.

During the day, stop at La Libertad for a seafood lunch by the beach, but make sure to leave before darkness as crime is high. It’s Warm for December | The Weather Channel

Above-average temperatures are expected for December for most of the contiguous U.S. While it will not feel like December or winter, it also won’t feel like beach days in most locations either.

Winter coats will likely be put away for many areas this month and you can expect more comfortable temperatures. So to get a better idea of what this really means we decided to take a closer look at how mild temperatures may get for selected cities. Scroll down to find out really how warm it will be and whether you need to break out your shorts and tee shirts, or if a light coat will still be necessary.

(MORE: Warm Weather to Dominate This Week)

    December’s Mild Forecast

One of the interesting aspects of the above-average temperature forecast in how persistent the warmth will be for many areas. Temperatures are expected to be warmer than average for this time of year for the eastern half of the U.S. for most of the month. Records are likely to be broken for both high temperatures and warm low temperatures.

    December Outlook from NOAA

The December forecast from the Climate Prediction Center.

The forecast from the Climate Prediction Center, a division of NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), indicates where the chances are higher for above and below average temperatures. The orange areas on the map show where the chances for above-average temperatures are higher and the blue areas where there is a higher chance of below-average temperatures. Above or below average temperatures refer to temperatures that are in the upper or lower third of historical temperatures.

    December Outlook

December’s forecast from WSI, a division of The Weather Company.

In addition, the outlook from WSI (Weather Services International) also indicates how far above average temperatures may be, with locations from the northern Plains into the eastern Great Lakes likely seeing temperatures the most above average.

    (MORE: Winter 2015-16 Temperature Outlook)

One of the impacts of the warmer-than-average conditions is a lack of snowfall, especially in portions of the Northeast. Buffalo, New York, has not received any measurable snow through Dec. 7 which has broken the record for latest first snowfall (previous record was Dec. 3).

(MORE: The Impact of El Niño on Seasonal Snowfall)

There are indications that cooler conditions will develop toward mid-December in parts of the West and southern Plains.

This pattern is typical for a strong El Niño in the winter months. In many El Niño winters temperatures are warmer than average in the northern tier, with cooler temperatures usually found in the southern tier, where wetter-than-average conditions are more likely as well.

However, El Niño is not the only factor to consider in looking at temperature forecast for the winter, and this pattern will likely not last through January and February. The risk of upper-level atmospheric blocking in the North Atlantic increases in January and February, which can force colder temperatures into the Eastern U.S. for prolonged periods.

(MORE: El Niño Zone Breaks November Water Temperature Record)

Enjoy the mild December temperatures as winter will likely return later in the season.

Denver: Temperatures will be up to 20 degrees warmer than average for much of the second week of December. The average high for December is 42.8 degrees and the average low is a chilly 17.1 degrees. You can probably leave the coat at home.

Seattle: Temperatures will be 5 to 10 degrees above average here until this weekend when temperatures will be closer to average which is around 45.7 degrees. The highest temperature recorded in December is 66 degrees on Dec. 10, 2014, so very warm temperatures are not common in December here. Plan on wearing a light coat.

Las Vegas: The warmth will persist for most of the second week of December with high temperatures close to 20 degrees above average at times. The average high for December is 56.6 degrees. You can break out the tee shirts and maybe even the shorts.

Los Angeles: The warmer-than-average temperatures will last for a few more days with highs up to 15 degrees warmer than you would expect at this time of year. This translates to highs near 80 degrees, not close to the record of 92 degrees set on Dec. 8, 1938. Plan on breaking out the shorts.

Salt Lake City: Temperatures will be 10 to 15 degrees above average for much of the second week of December. The average high in December is 38 degrees and the average low drops to 22.6 degrees. Plan on wearing a light coat.

10 places in Russia where it’s warm in December 2022 — Krymania

December is, frankly, not the best season for a vacation, especially if the vacationer is not an ardent fan of skiing. But even in the first month of winter in Russia, you can have a good rest and not freeze, just choose one of the health resorts where it is warmest.

    #1. Sochi

Whatever one may say, the sea in winter is an excellent warming “radiator”, so there are many coastal resorts among the warmest Russian winter resorts. December in Sochi is more like the end of October in the middle lane. The weather is capricious, it is damp and chilly, but snow and frost are not the rule, but the exception.

It is clear that only “walruses” will go swimming in December (water temperature is +12 °C and even slightly lower), and experts do not even advise ordinary people to settle close to the coast. But warming up the air above +10 °C in December in Sochi is a common thing, and the average temperatures of the month confidently exceed +8 °C – this is taking into account nighttime indicators!

Keep in mind that Sochi is an expensive city, even in winter. But still, outside the beach season, prices are much “tastier”, and finding a year-round hotel or sanatorium in an advanced resort is not a problem. There is also entertainment – there are a lot of interesting indoor establishments in the city (there are even indoor water parks).

    №2. Gelendzhik

In general, the winter climate of Gelendzhik is similar to that of Sochi, but the advantage is less influence of cold northern winds. Frosts and snow are rare here, in December you can see blooming roses right on the flower beds, during the day the temperature steadily rises above + 7 … + 8 ° C, and often even more. It is clear that the sea is cold (like in Sochi), but in winter no one expects anything else from it.

But in Gelendzhik it is significantly cheaper than in Sochi (although more expensive than in non-resort cities of the Krasnodar Territory) – this applies to housing and consumer goods. It is definitely worth coming here at the beginning of winter, if only because, outside the beach season, local sanatoriums offer favorable conditions – this is an excellent option for improving health in the sea air and artesian waters.

Here there will be few entertainments – walks around the neighborhood or trips on excursions to Sochi or Novorossiysk. For secular life will have to go there. But many people get along just fine without it and just want to get rid of the hustle and bustle on vacation.

    #3. Tuapse

In Tuapse, December is considered one of the coldest months of the year. But “cold” is a relative term. Average temperatures (at least during the day, at least at night) here are the same as in Sochi.

However, it is subjectively colder in Tuapse, because December here is perhaps the wettest month of the year – it rains often. But snow is a rarity, and it does not form a stable cover. The sea temperature is the same as in Sochi.

Housing in Tuapse is available in winter – there are many year-round hotels, and the local population is accustomed to tourists at any time of the year. You don’t have to count on a rich cultural program.

But thanks to the mild weather, it is quite possible to take walks (including on horseback) in the surroundings, there are a lot of interesting things near Tuapse. In the city itself there are also museums and beautiful places worthy of attention.

    No. 4. Sevastopol

In Crimea, in fact, December is an autumn month (November is usually considered “Indian summer” there). Many experts consider Sevastopol to be the warmest December region of Crimea. The foregoing can be attributed to its immediate district, for example, to Kacha.

The daily temperature here is about the same as in Sochi – on average, above +8 °C, and, moreover, daily fluctuations are extremely small. There are windy days, but in December the influence of the cold northern “Bori” (ice gusts from the north in Sevastopol and some other regions are called bora) is still relatively small. Here the sea at this time is cold, about +11 ° C, but in any case, only “walruses” are drawn to swim in it.

On the other hand, numerous city attractions are much more accessible in winter than in summer – there are much fewer tourists, and the opening hours are not strictly tied to the season. The exception is Chersonesos, where the weather may not be conducive to excursions.

But in the winter in Sevastopol prices in the most “advanced” hotels are noticeably reduced, there is a concept of the theater season, and sporting events take place. Some difficulties are possible only at the very end of December, and then only in the matter of settling in large hotels – a New Year’s program is organized there. That is why the places are sorted out in advance.

Topic: The warmest places in Crimea in October

    №5. Alushta

Alushta retains the proud title of the “South Pole of Crimea” even in winter – it is very warm there. Moreover, Alushta is distinguished from other regions of the South Coast in December by relatively sunny weather – there is little rain in the city. The daily temperature here is just a little lower than in Sochi, but only a professional meteorologist will notice the difference in a degree of the average month.

But in Alushta there are slight differences in day and night temperatures. The temperature indicators of the water are also slightly lower than in Sochi, but this does not bother anyone – it is still impossible to swim.

But in Alushta, several high-level sanatoriums (including children’s) work all year round, and this is the reason why a December vacation in this city will be very profitable. Winter prices are much lower than summer prices, and everyone can afford a course of treatment in the best Alushta resort center in December. And for the respiratory system, winter sea air is almost more useful than summer air.

It will be worse with entertainment – a lot of things work only during the season. The natural attractions of the surroundings of Alushta are available for viewing in winter, but keep in mind that it is noticeably colder in the mountains than near the water, and snow can fall (although it usually falls in January in Crimea).

The best on the site: Excursions in Alushta

    №6.

    Novorossiysk

Novorossiysk is not often perceived as a resort, but rather as a major port and military base. Well, Sevastopol, and Feodosia, and Kerch are such – and nothing, they are very popular as vacation spots.

It is quite sunny in Novorossiysk in December, there is little rain, the average temperature during the day is just a little lower than in Sochi, but very warm days are not uncommon. The nights are a bit colder than in the most famous Krasnodar resorts. The sea has a temperature of about +12 °C.

But what’s interesting is that near Novorossiysk there is the Sudzhuk Lagoon (aka Salt Lake). And there the water is often noticeably warmer. For this reason, Novorossiysk is one of the very few Russian resorts where just a seasoned person (not a “walrus”) can take the risk of swimming in the open air in December.

There will be no problems with housing in an energetic, business city – hotels here are designed more for business travelers than for beachgoers. But the cultural program in Novorossiysk is the richest, and the December weather allows you to get acquainted with all the local museums and war memorials in detail. Novorossiysk is also appreciated by fans of wine tourism – Abrau-Dyurso is nearby.

    No. 7. Saki

Western Crimea in early December does not yet suffer much from cold northerly winds (the eastern coast of the peninsula takes this blow first). In addition, there are many clear days here. The average daytime temperature in Saki (in Evpatoria we observe a similar picture) is about +8 °C, at night – +5 °C. The sea is cold, yes.

But Saki is basically not a sea resort, but a balneological resort. Almost all local clinics work all year round, and their programs do not depend on the season.

In winter, prices are much more favorable to the wallets of vacationers, so Saki in winter is an ideal place to improve the health of those who count money, but are indifferent to secular entertainment. The cultural program in this city is not rich even during the season. But for impressions, you can go to Evpatoria.

Be sure to watch: Where is the warmest place in Crimea in November

    №8. Anapa

The average December temperatures in Anapa are similar to those in Sochi. During the day it can even be a little warmer, and the sea is also warmer (although definitely not enough to swim in it). However, the impression is spoiled by frequent strong gusty winds and frequent night frosts. Therefore, in practice, the resort is still colder than in Sochi.

At the end of the month, snow may fall, but the cover does not fall, because frosts in Anapa during the day are rare. But how the city differs from Sochi is a more noticeable price reduction outside the season! At the same time, finding a working hotel or sanatorium here, or even renting a room from a private owner, is not a problem at any time. There will also be no overlap with catering – although a number of establishments are closing, there will be enough employees.

You won’t find a rich secular program in Anapa in winter, but there are a lot of field trips – hiking trips, visits to natural attractions, horseback riding … Local winter vacationers are often offered trips to Abkhazia. Well, Sochi, of course. There is enough secular life.

    No. 9. Sudak

In Sudak the weather is uneven in December. On average, it is quite warm there – above +7 ° C during the day and about +5 ° C at night, significant temperature rises are not uncommon, frosts are rare, and snow occasionally. Rain is also infrequent, although overcast skies are more or less common. The sea is cold – +11 ° C at the beginning of the month and then the temperature drops.

But that’s not the main problem. Sudak in winter is a windy city. Although it blows infrequently from the north, other directions of the wind rose in winter also do not deliver pleasure. Therefore, subjectively, the weather is perceived as colder than it actually is.

It is worth coming to Sudak in December for the sake of treatment – the most expensive and prestigious local sanatoriums and TOK in winter cut prices down record-breaking. And they have at their disposal buildings with heating, and indoor pools, and solariums, and much more.

There are also cultural entertainments (although most of the rides and nightclubs are closed) – you can go to the sights, to the same Genoese fortress, or go to the New World for wine experiences. Here it is better not to meddle in nature – and the wind is stronger, and glaciation is possible.

    No. 10. Krasnaya Polyana

Krasnaya Polyana is like Sochi, but not really. For this ski resort is located “above” the city. It is paradoxical, but true: one of the largest ski centers in Russia is also one of the warmest winter places in the Federation!

Snow in the mountains is a good layer, winter rains are rare. But besides, the average temperature in December in Krasnaya Polyana is +4 °C, and in the daytime the figure of +10 °C is not uncommon. Here you can have a good rest without skiing – mountain air, clear weather, the opportunity to drink mineral water . ..

than enough. There will also be entertainment, because winter is the season in Krasnaya Polyana. True, the most important of the local shortcomings follows from this – it will be expensive here.

Reviews often praise the New Year in Yalta. The winter capital of Crimea is definitely not a warm resort – it is cloudy and rather damp there! But the tourist is free to choose according to his taste – after all, not only a warm winter can be attractive!

December is the season on the west coast of Sri Lanka. All the main attractions are located in the center of the island and from the coast to go far. The closest resort from the airport and attractions – Bentota – 2 hours drive from the airport. Bentota has 2 huge, 3 km each, wide clean sandy beaches. Unawatuna beach is much worse, the beach is not big, built-up cafe – respectively, not particularly clean. The longest drive is to Unawatuna. Hikkaduwa is something in between, big beaches, average numbers… More…

I will share my personal experience. For the first time I went to Egypt in Sharm. Then to Hurghada, then to Marsa Alam.
Sharm is the Sinai Peninsula. So this is Asia, not Africa. This is a mountainous desert. The climate is very dry. Humidity rarely rises above 35%. Therefore, in Sharm it is always very easy to breathe. In general, Sharm is not Egypt. This is an international resort: a special protected area with international rules. 9. Video review, what tourists need to know about Egypt . During the day, about +30 C. In the morning until 15-16 hours of the day, you can sunbathe in the gentle, gentle sun without the risk of getting burned. Sunburn at this time turns out to be even, bronze. At night, the air temperature drops to + 13-17 C, depending on the resort.

It will be warmer in December in the Sinai Peninsula. In Sharm el-Sheikh, Dahab, Taba, the air warms up a few degrees more, which creates the most comfortable conditions for staying.

The coolest places will be in the resorts of the Mediterranean Sea. During the day +20-22 C, at night +13-14 C.

In December it will be possible to sleep without air conditioning, and even under a warm blanket.

      Resort Daytime +20 +13

Rain is bad in Egypt. The country is considered one of the driest in the hemisphere. Near the desert with all the ensuing consequences. In December, it can rain at the resorts, and this is a joyful phenomenon for both people and nature, which misses moisture.

      Water temperature

The sea has not yet cooled down in December. The thermometer will show at the beginning of the month + 24-26 C, and at the end, just in time for the New Year holidays, + 22-23 C. And everything would be even very good if it were not for the piercing winds that blow mainly in the evenings. Sometimes unpleasant winds with sand can blow over land and sea. In bad weather, they turn into sandstorms. True, for December this is not a frequent occurrence. However, even the presence of harsh winds has its advantages. They help to have fun at sea for numerous lovers of different types of surfing.

      Holiday resorts in December

The best places for winter holidays are the resorts of the Sinai Peninsula – Sharm el-Sheikh, Dahab, Taba. It will be warmer here than in other places. It is convenient to swim and sunbathe in the bays, as they are hidden from the winds. The wonderful underwater world of coral reefs, colorful fish, rare inhabitants, algae will not leave indifferent any tourist. Sharm el-Sheikh is a well-groomed, clean place with all the conditions for a pleasant pastime.

Dahab, Nuweiba, Taba make up the Red Sea Riviera with excellent beaches and expensive hotels. They are located on the banks of the narrow Gulf of Aqaba and are surrounded by mountains with a picturesque landscape. This place is famous for divers.

On the western coast of the Red Sea, including in Hurghada, December will be cooler. The old part of the city is densely built up and is better suited for recreation, as there is nowhere for the wind to roam in it. The new part is being rebuilt, there are still a few buildings, and young plantations do not save from the wind. Therefore, it is better to choose hotels for recreation closer to the center.

      Should I go?

Definitely worth it! Egypt is good at any time of the year. And it’s not just about the weather. Amazing nature, evergreen well-groomed plants, palm trees, citruses, fragrant flowers delight any, the most sophisticated tourist, on walks. Territories of hotels, as a rule, are huge and occupy many kilometers. They have developed infrastructure. There are children’s and sports grounds, places for yoga, dancing, numerous swimming pools, shops and pharmacies. Many hotels are like cities from which there is no need to leave, and everything you need can be obtained on the spot.

December is a good month for sightseeing. You can safely go to the pyramids, ride camels, travel to the desert. This is the time to visit Cairo, Alexandria, where there are many interesting and exotic things.

      Egypt in December

In addition, you can do exciting shopping and buy for yourself and as a gift incomparable aromatic oils with a very persistent smell, healing teas, black honey, exotic souvenirs and much more that is only in this wonderful country.

In December, seasonal fruits are sold in markets and street stalls. You can try guava, dates, physalis, strawberries, citrus fruits, bananas. Ripe and juicy, they will saturate the body with vitamins needed in winter.

If your resort is located on the Mediterranean Sea, then you have a great opportunity to try fresh seafood. Their abundance is here, as the catch of fish by local fishermen is not taxed.

In December, many seasoned tourists celebrate the New Year in Egypt. Can you imagine – the sea is rustling nearby, warm in summer, champagne is flowing like a river, music, noise, din everywhere? In Egypt, they can and know how to celebrate a holiday in any hotel. Famous artists are invited, a plentiful festive table is laid, dancing and entertainment last until the morning. Impressions will last for a long time, if not for a lifetime.

      Sharm el-Sheikh in December

      Prices

At the beginning of December the cost of tours is available. You can buy tickets at affordable prices. Estimated price of $ 1000 for two in a very good 4 * hotel on an all-inclusive basis. On New Year and Christmas holidays, the cost of tours increases by 50%, and you should worry about buying in advance, as there may be places in hotels, but the number of places on airplanes is limited.

      Tips

      1. time becomes much shorter. At 16.00 it starts to get dark and this is done not gradually, but rapidly. It was light, and you were swimming in the sea, when suddenly night came. However, this is not a reason to be upset. Numerous cafes and restaurants, clubs and concert venues will not let you get bored. After sunset, you can swim in the indoor pool, take spa treatments, go to the city for new entertainment, shopping and experiences.
      2. In December it will be easy to catch a cold when leaving the sea. Despite the fact that the water in the sea is warm, a fresh, cool breeze will meet you on the shore. Take a large towel or bathrobe with you in order to wrap yourself in them and not catch a cold.
      3. In the evenings, you will need to dress warmly. The weather in December is changeable. Tonight will be warm and you can walk in a T-shirt, and tomorrow you will have to wear closed shoes, a warm jacket and jeans.
      4. If you decide to relax in Sharm El Sheikh, choose hotels in the bays. There is no wind, you can safely swim and sunbathe. Excellent, comfortable weather is almost always on Naama Bay, in El Maya Bay.
      5. In the Red Sea you will have to swim in special shoes in order not to injure your feet on corals. If you did not take care of this in advance, do not be sad. A cheap taxi for a couple of dollars will take you from remote areas to the city center, where you will have many opportunities to buy everything you need at once.
      6. Swimming in the sea after sunset is dangerous. Sea creatures crawl out of their shelters, some of them are deadly.
      7. It is forbidden to take out from Egypt a handful of earth on which Cleopatra’s foot stepped, shells and stones. Punishment – a significant fine that will spoil the overall impression, and through your fault.
      8. If you choose a place for walks and excursions, you should prefer land travel to sea travel. On yachts, catamarans, canoes, it is worth riding only on a calm day.

How to Spend September Holidays in Tenerife

When summer winds down, some destinations remain sunny and warm – and endlessly inviting. The Canary Island of Tenerife is one of those places, offering a refuge from approaching autumn, as well as plenty of things to do during September breaks.

September Holidays in Tenerife: Top Holiday Lettings

The Top Places to Visit in Tenerife in September

Tenerife offers more than just sun, poolside sunbathing, and nightlife. Here are some of our favourite attractions and activities to enjoy on the island in September:

    1. Mount Teide

The island’s most famous national park, Mount Teide has an extraterrestrial volcanic landscape that’s fascinating to explore – and the views aren’t bad, either! Join organised tours or take the cable car to the base camp in September, and expect cool weather and excellent hiking conditions if you feel energetic enough to tackle the climb to the summit.

    2. Siam Park

Tenerife’s premier water park, Siam Park is at its best in September. Not only are the temperatures on the island still likely to be in the mid to late 20s, but the summer crowds will have thinned, meaning shorter queues for flumes, and all the space you need to relax.

    3. Loro Park

A huge wildlife park, this could be the perfect family attraction for September holidays to Tenerife. Get to know gorillas, jaguars, dolphins, and many other charismatic species, and take full advantage of the unhurried staff, who will have far fewer visitors to handle than during peak season.

    4. Troya Beach

Come September, the weather is usually warm (or hot, even) in Tenerife, while other destinations start to cool down. Head to Troya Beach for a huge expanse of sand, complete with sunbeds that you won’t need to fight over. Afterwards, the nightlife of Playa de las Americas is right next door, and the clubs should still be buzzing with life.

    Itinerary

    Day 1-7

Day 1: Upon arrival in Tenerife, you will be met at the airport by our local representative and transferred by coach to your hotel.

Day 2: In the morning we recommend that you get your bearings with a leisurely stroll through Puerto de la Cruz, which has a great selection of bars, restaurants and cafes and is surrounded by several beaches. After lunch why not relax by the pool or take a stroll down the beach at Playa Jardin.

Day 3: On day 3 you will have a half day guided excursion to Santa Cruz. After breakfast you will travel to the famous sea port which is one of Spain’s busiest and is the joint capital of the Canary Islands. This city was recently named one of the best five places in the world to live by “The Guardian” newspaper. You will then move on to the UNESCO World Heritage site of La Laguna. Here you will see its impressive cathedral and the old colonial city architecture.

Day 4: On day 4 you will journey around the island for a full day’s guided excursion. Your first port of call will be the village of Icod de los Vinos on the west coast, which is famous for the Canary Islands Dragon Tree. This subtropical tree-like plant is the natural emblem of Tenerife. Continue to Playa de Las Americas for some free time, with views of the spectacular Los Gigantes Cliffs en route. In the afternoon, we’ll visit the Basilica of Candelaria, to view the famous statue of the Black Madonna and bronze statues of the ‘Guanches’. The Guanches were the original inhabitants of the Canary Islands and while it is generally believed that they no longer exist as a distinct ethnicity, many traces of their culture remain. Please note only breakfast and dinner will be included in your hotel on this day.

Day 5: Day 5 will be free to enjoy at your leisure. We recommend you take some time to explore the town of Puerto de la Cruz, which has an excellent range of cafes and bars. There are many other attractions outside the town centre, particularly the botanical gardens, which have a large range of tropical and subtropical trees, plants and flowers.

Day 6: You will begin day 6 with a morning guided excursion to the volcanic Mount Teide National Park, which is dominated by the highest peak in Spain, Mount Teide itself. Along the way you will pass through the evergreen valley of La Orotava. The soil here is home to some very rare flora due to the lava flows on the flanks of the mountain. After, you will return to your hotel in time for lunch.

Day 7: On your final day you are free to relax and enjoy your surroundings. Why not take a walk to Puerto de la Cruz for some last-minute souvenirs or visit Loro Parque (Parrot Park), which is a theme park and zoo that is amongst the largest in the world.

Hotel Catalonia Las Vegas Offering beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean on one side and Mount Teide on the other, Hotel Catalonia Las Vegas boasts a popular location in Puerto de la Cruz, close to the Lago Martianez seawater pool complex and an array of shops, restaurants and cafes. With its welcoming atmosphere and comfortable guest rooms, this hotel is an ideal choice for a holiday that combines relaxation and sightseeing in Tenerife.

Ever visited Tenerife? Maybe you can help with my top tips for Tenerife holidays

Me at the Teide National Park

When you’re planing a holiday, it’s really handy to be able to chat to someone who’s been to that destination before – even better if they can give you a few hints and tips to get the most out of your holiday.

Here’s what I’ve got so far:

    The destination

Tenerife, for me, is the stuff of childhood holidays: my first experience of holidays ‘abroad’, warm sunshine, sandy beaches, blue sea and fantastic food.   Tenerife is a great place to bring the family as the flight is a manageable length and, whether you want a beach holiday, or want a more active holiday, there is such diversity here,  there’s something for everyone.  The climate is amazing all year round (it’s known as the ‘Island of Eternal Spring’) and even in the winter, you can experience temperatures in the 20s, with very little rain at any time of the year.

    What to pack

Packing for a Tenerife holiday is easy as the temperature stays pretty warm during the day.  During winter and into the spring, night time temperatures can dip down to 16 degrees, so pack a few extra layers for when you’re out and about during the evening.  Tenerife has excellent shopping right across the island, so, especially if you’ve got small children, consider buying some of your essentials, like nappies, when you arrive rather than clogging up your suitcase.  Suncream, hats and full-cover swimsuits for the youngsters are a must all year round and especially during the summer and autumn months when temperatures can climb into the high 20s (and have been known to hit the 30s).

    Hand luggage helpers

    •  When travelling with children, pack them a little rucksack of their own with interesting things to do on the journey.  It’s also worth packing a few ‘surprise’ items in your own hand luggage to whip out if they start to get bored.
    •  Make sure you’ve photocopied everyone’s passport, your tickets and any other information, such as travel insurance.  Pop it into a different bag, just in case one gets lost.
    • Don’t pack enormous hand luggage bags – your fellow passengers (and your family!) won’t thank you when you take ten minutes to squeeze it into the overhead locker, and generally, once it’s there, you won’t want to bother taking it down again.  Think about what you’ll really use: iPad, headphones, maybe a book, and leave the rest at home.

    Getting around

Tenerife really is an island of two halves.  There are resorts in the very south of the island, and some in the very north.  If you want to explore, think about hiring a car (consider arranging it with your travel agent when booking).   The main road between the north and south circles the island and is well signposted and easy to navigate.  If you’re heading ‘off piste’ be aware that some of the roads may be less well cared for (and marked), especially if you’re heading up towards Teide when there are some mountain roads next to steep drops (worth attempting, though, as the scenery is amazing).  Public transport is really good: the bus system is modern and inexpensive, plus you can buy tickets called ‘Bono Bus’ for discounted travel if you’re planning on using the bus system quite a bit.

    Sightseeing

In the south of the island, don’t miss beautiful Siam Park, a huge Thai-themed water park.  For well-priced tickets, try www.attractionticketsdirect.com – also look out for the free double decker buses that run from most of the major southern resorts.  Try also to head up to Teide National Park, where the strange lunar landscape has been the backdrop of many a feature film.  If you want, you can head up to the summit (well, within 500ft of the summit – you need a permit to go all the way up) in a cable car, but go prepared: wear sturdy shoes and take warm clothing – it’s very cold up there!  Also, don’t miss the Botanical Gardens in Puerto de la Cruz, and make time to visit Garachico for a swim in the incredible lava pools.

    Dining tricks

    • Don’t visit Tenerife without trying the lovely salty papas arugadas (literally ‘wrinkled potatoes’) and the delicious accompanying mojo sauces
    • Tenerife also produces some stunning wines (mostly exported to the USA, sadly), but you’ll often find small producers selling their wares locally.
    • Kids will love another local delicacy called simply ‘flan’.  It’s similar to creme caramel and is served in moreish custardy slabs, sometimes with the dark caramel sauce but often just plain.

    Like a Local

In Tenerife, locals don’t tend to invite people into their houses, so often you’ll see families and friends congregating in local squares in the evening, chatting and laughing together.  They’re incredibly friendly people and will often chat to you – especially If you have small children!  It’s worth looking out for where the locals drink as they’re often much cheaper than the tourist bars.

Do remember, especially in the older, less touristy parts of Tenerife, that businesses will close in the afternoon for a siesta, reopening at about 4. 30pm for the evening.  If you’re buying postcards, ask in the shop for stamps to save you visiting the post office separately.

Tipping in restaurants is about the same as here In the UK – about 10% should be fine.  If you’re drinking at a table in a café or bar, the waiter will tend to wait for you to finish before bringing you the whole bill, rather than paying for drinks as you buy them.  Rounding up the bill or leaving some loose change is always appreciated.

    Phrases you should know

I do recommend that you take an English/Spanish language book with you.  Although most locals, especially in tourist areas, speak excellent English, they always appreciate it (and will often help you with pronunciation etc) if you have a go at a few simple phrases like: sí  (yes) – it’s just no for no- buenos días (good morning),  por favor (please) and gracias (thank you).

So there you have it, these are my top tips.  Anything to add?

Is Tenerife Expensive? Average Travel Costs in 2022

Dreaming of volcanic sands, tasty tapas, and balmy weather? You may be wondering: is Tenerife expensive? From the cost of a cocktail to accommodation, we’ve pulled together everything you need to know to answer this question.

Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands, situated off the West Coast of Africa. The volcanic paradise attracts over 6 million tourists a year – particularly those with a taste for all-inclusive resorts, sandy beaches, and buzzing nightlife. A key draw to Tenerife is its relative affordability. So long as you book well ahead and follow some basic money-saving tips, Tenerife makes for a much cheaper vacation than other Spanish destinations, such as the Balearics.

So, how much money should you set aside for a trip to Tenerife? Let’s get a closer look at exactly how affordable Tenerife really is.

    Table of Contents

The average cost of a holiday to Tenerife

    Andreas M on Unsplash

As a general rule of thumb, you can expect to pay around $122 per day in Tenerife. Food will cost around $30 per day, while transportation can cost as much as $48 per day, depending on how much you’re planning on getting out and about. Accommodation comes in at around $85 a night for a double room in a hotel or $42 per person per night.

Of course, this figure will vary depending on the type of traveler you are. If you stay in a self-catered villa or apartment, you can certainly save money by cooking for yourself some nights. Supermarkets in Tenerife tend to be relatively inexpensive, so long as you steer clear of international brand names that are likely to have a markup. Similarly, opting for all-inclusive accommodation may mean spending a greater amount of money upfront, but you’ll spend much less on eating and drinking out once you’re in Tenerife.

Relaxing on the beach or by the pool is one of the most popular activities for visitors to Tenerife. If this is how you decide to spend the majority of your trip, you can keep entertainment costs pretty low. However, if you opt to head out on multiple excursions – be that up the volcano, to a water park, or swimming with dolphins – you’re likely to add a significant chunk to your spending money. For the more adventurous types who like to fill their vacations with multiple things to do, we recommend budgeting an additional $22 per person per day for entertainment costs.

The cost of flights is another factor that alters just how affordable Tenerife is as a destination. The collapse of Thomas Cook has meant that flights from the UK, for instance, have risen in price. Meanwhile, flying from the US is will certainly cost a pretty penny in comparison to taking a direct flight from a European destination.

    Is accommodation expensive in Tenerife?

    Maxim Berg on Unsplash

As mentioned above, the average cost of a double occupancy room in a hotel in Tenerife is $85 per night or $42 per night per person. However, as an island renowned for its all-inclusive resorts, you can certainly end up paying much more for accommodation in Tenerife.

The time of year that you chose to visit Tenerife will have a large bearing on how expensive your accommodation will be. As a family favorite destination, prices are inflated during school holidays. If you’re holidaying without children, you’ve got a good chance of finding a cheaper deal if you book outside of these peak times. Similarly, prices are cheaper earlier in the year, between January and April, when the weather is milder and much more manageable. While the island is still a popular winter destination, it’s worth visiting earlier in the year to avoid the crowds and access some cheaper deals.

All in all, the golden rule for Tenerife is booking well in advance. You’re much more likely to find a sweet deal that could even comprise accommodation and flights if you do your research and book ahead of time.

    Is Tenerife expensive to live?

    Miltiadis Fragkidis on Unsplash

Considering a longer-term move to Tenerife? Luckily, it is not particularly expensive to live in Tenerife. This holds up even when comparing it to other local island destinations. Monthly expenditure for a single person renting an apartment will come to roughly €1300 per month. For two people sharing accommodation, this falls to around €850 per month. Local homeowners not needing to rent any accommodation can live very cheaply, with average expenditure being around €700 per month.

It is worth remembering that living on the island will be considerably more expensive during the summer months due to the high tourist season. As with many islands, you pay a premium for petrol in Tenerife. As an island with good transport links, you may want to think twice about bringing your car.

    Is Tenerife expensive for foodies?

    Nacho Carretero Molero on Unsplash

Generally speaking, food is not expensive in Tenerife. Restaurants here are by no means expensive. A meal at a reasonably priced eatery will usually cost you around €13. A three-course meal for two including wine at a mid-range restaurant will be around €45. It is worth remembering that the further you venture from the seafront, the cheaper the prices will get. Fans of a full English or continental breakfast will be thrilled to hear that this can be found for as little as €3. We reckon that an average tourist should budget around €30 per day for food.

A good way to save on your food is to rent a place with a kitchen and cook for yourself. You will save a considerable amount of money doing this as supermarket goods are generally quite cheap in Tenerife. The best way to save money on food is by shopping at the local markets. Plus, you can guarantee that locally sourced produce will be tasty! A visit to one of Tenerife’s local markets offers a window of insight into the less tourist-focused side to life in Tenerife; you’ll be sure to walk away with bags of tropical fruit, vegetables, and local seafood at brilliant prices.

Money-saving tips for your trip to Tenerife!

Use public transport instead of taxis

Not only are gas prices exceptionally high in Tenerife; they also have a very well-functioning bus network. The combination of these means that while taxis and hire cars will be very expensive, the local buses are comparatively very cheap. Additionally, many of the main tourist attractions are within walking distance of each other. If you’re considering hiring a car for your stay, you may want to think again.

    Drink local beer

Due to import costs, foreign beer costs almost twice as much as that brewed locally. Two local beers you will encounter are Dorada, brewed in Tenerife, and Tropical, from the neighboring island of La Gomera. Drinking these throughout your stay is bound to save you a few extra euros. The same principle applies to the local boxed wine, but connoisseurs might sniff at this prospect!

Make the most of the Menu del Día

At lunchtime, many restaurants will offer what is known as a menu del día, consisting of three courses and usually costing under €15. For those looking to eat out for the majority of their meals, taking lunch as your main meal of the day should save you a good deal of money.

Don’t wait until the airport to shop for tax-free goods

Tenerife is a tax-free island. This means that prices in the shops are actually cheaper than you’ll find at the airport. If you’re planning on stocking up on alcohol, perfume or cigarettes, make sure you take a shopping trip while you’re on the island.

    Make Sunday museum day

Fancy a break from the beach? If you’re planning on visiting any museums on the island, make sure you try and go on a Sunday as you won’t have to pay for entry.

    Buy your tickets online

When visiting the major tourist attractions in Tenerife, be sure to buy all your tickets online. This will end up saving you a reasonable amount of money as online tickets are almost always cheaper than those bought at the venue.

    Avoid school holidays!

If you’re able to, book your holiday outside of the UK school holidays. This is when prices on the island really shoot up. Heading to Tenerife in the winter months of September to April will guarantee lower prices and a more peaceful stay.

A Complete List of Regional Spanish Public Holidays For 2022

Each year, there are eight national public holidays in Spain. You will also benefit from up to 14 local public holidays, depending on the region of Spain that you live. Public holidays in Spain are exciting occasions where most Spaniards are not expected to work and almost all shops, restaurants, banks and other businesses will close to give their employees a day off.

Public holidays are referred to as días festivos in Spain, or just festivos. They’re divided into nacionales (national), autonómicos (regional) and in some cases locales (local ie. city, island etc). So if you see an autonomicos festivos being advertised, you shouldn’t automatically assume that this will translate to a day off in your region. It’s also worth noting that if a fixed public holiday falls on a weekend day, it will be up to the regional governments to decide whether they will offer their citizens a day off in lieu on the next available weekday.

Knowing when the public holidays in the Spain are is essential if you live in Spain, as you can use these to your advantage when planning your holidays and short breaks, whilst minimizing the amount of time you’ll need to take off from work. With this in mind, here is a full break down of all of the national and regional public holidays that you will enjoy in Spain in 2022:

National Public Holidays in Spain in 2022

    • Saturday, January 1st (New Year’s Day)
    • Thursday, January 6th (Epiphany)
    • Friday, April 15th (Good Friday)

    • Wednesday, October 12th (National Day of Spain)
    • Tuesday, November 1st (All Saints’ Day)
    • Tuesday, December 6th (Spanish Constitution Day)
    • Thursday, December 8th (Immaculate Conception Day)

Regional holidays across Spain in 2022

As the name suggests, Spanish regional holidays vary from region to region. What’s more, because many public holidays fall on a Sunday this year, the way that each region will deal with this also differs: some regions have opted to offer a day off the day before the holiday weekend, others are offering a day off the day after the holiday weekend, and some regions are not moving the holiday at all. You may also find that there are other regional holidays that are celebrated, but are not included on this list: as these are chosen at a local level, there are too many of these variants to list here.

Each Spanish region, and the dates of their public holidays in 2022, are outlined below:

    • in September

September is the last month of the Spanish “summer”. The heat subsides, and a comfortable temperature of +28 ° C in the south and + 25 ° C in the north is established. There is usually little rain, and nothing should spoil the rest. By the end of September, it gets a little colder, the winds begin. The water temperature is about 25 °C. A nice bonus for a vacation in September will be a decrease in the number of tourists. It is better to plan your trip until the middle of the month when the weather is stable.

The Balearic Islands attract millions of tourists every year from around the world, and Mallorca is still the undisputed leader of this tourist destination.

There are several reasons for such popularity: firstly, this island is the largest and has fairly long beaches, secondly, the local nature offers the best conditions for ecotourism, and thirdly, the tourist infrastructure here is arranged to the highest standard, not in vain Mallorca is a favorite place for the royal family to spend their holidays.

In addition, the island can be classified as a year-round resort – a holiday in Mallorca in September 2023 will allow you to enjoy amazingly picturesque beaches, admire the sights, and attend very colorful local holidays.

Why choose September for a trip to the island?

September can be safely called the most successful period for traveling – during the velvet season there is no exhausting heat, which means you can safely go for long walks around the island. In addition, this month there are several interesting events that will introduce you to the culture of the local population.

Holidays in Mallorca in September 2023 allow you to do whatever you want. Favorable weather contributes to this, for example, the heat characteristic of August recedes, and such a quantity of rains as in October and November has not yet been observed.

On average, the temperature is set at +26°C, however, sometimes it rises to +30°C in August. Closer to the night, the temperature drops to + 18 ° C, and therefore in the evenings it is so pleasant to walk along the quiet streets of the resorts or along the coast.

Our travel agency of the retail network PEGAS Touristik LLC “WTC” recommends this month also for traveling with children, who find it somewhat difficult to endure the August heat. In September, children can swim to their heart’s content, as the coastal waters are warmed up to +26°C in the early days, and only by the end of the month the water temperature drops to +24°C. Sometimes it rains, but the rains are short-lived and will not significantly affect your plans.

    What attracts Mallorca in September?

Holidays in Mallorca in September 2023 are incredibly versatile: you can go diving or surfing, ride horses, practice mountaineering, go on an excursion or just lie on the beach.

    Overview

Guide to walking on La Palma. In total 45 day walks are described ranging from 7 to 32km in length, and covering a wide variety of terrain. Although La Palma is one of the smaller Canary Islands, there are routes of all types from easy strolls to hands-on scrambling, from simple day walks to long-distance treks on rocky mountain paths, including the GR130, which circumnavigates the island, and the island-hopping GR131.

With full route descriptions, including custom-made maps, refreshment options and transport for each walk, accommodation, useful contacts and a Spanish-English glossary. The book also includes lots of background information on geology, wildlife, plants and flowers.

The circular GR130 trail takes about a week to complete and can be started and finished at any point around the island. The GR131 trail is exclusively high level and mountainous, requiring careful planning. The dramatic volcanic landscape of La Palma, reputed to be one of the steepest islands in the world, is little-known outside the Canaries, but offers an ideal winter walking destination for walkers of most abilities, featuring rocky treks and mountain paths.

    Cumbre Vieja Volcano

A number of walking trails on La Palma have been closed due to the ongoing volcanic eruption on the Cumbre Vieja. In short, there are currently no open trails south of a line drawn between Santa Cruz and Los Llanos. Also, trails within the Caldera de Taburiente national park are also closed.

In the guidebook, this means that Walks 6 to 19 are all currently closed, along with Walks 35 to 38 and 43 to 45. However, the highest parts of Walk 43 and 44, from Roque Palmero to Roque de los Muchachos and Pico de la Nieve are open.

On the northern part of the island, Walk 31 is closed while work is done on a damaged section of the trail. Check the following website, showing which trails are open or closed. www.senderosdelapalma.es/senderos/estado-de-los-senderos
