    Marmaris weather October

What’s the weather like in Marmaris in October?

Marmaris is on Turkey’s southwestern Turquoise Coast, which means it has long and hot summers that stretch into October. Although temperatures are cooling down as the month goes on, it’s still warm, and you’ll get plenty of sun despite the fact there’s more rain in autumn compared to summer.

    Turkish Riviera

Marmaris has quite typical Mediterranean weather with hot summers and mild winters. If you’re not bothered about really high temperatures and prefer things to be quieter, you’ll love it here in October. The town’s on the stunning Turkish Riviera in a sheltered bay. Together with the surrounding mountains, this keeps temperatures from cooling too much because of winds from both the north and the Mediterranean to the south.

    Averages

The average high in Marmaris during October’s a lovely 26ºC, although it gets quite cool in the evenings at 13ºC. The sea temperature’s still 24ºC which is perfect for swimming, while humidity’s low. Average rainfall’s 78mm over six rainy days. You can look forward to 11 hours of daylight with eight hours of sunshine each day. UV levels will be moderate. Sunset’s just before 7pm at the start of the month, and just after 5pm by the end of October due to daylight saving.

    Marmaris, Turkey – October Weather

    Weather lowdown

Just like September was already cooling down a bit, October sees temperatures begin to decrease further as the tourist season starts to wind down. Daytime temperatures still reach a very pleasant high of 26°C, though, and fall to around 13°C in the evenings. The average daily temperature in October is 20°C, significantly cooler than the 24°C average of September and the 28°C average of July, the hottest month of the year. In the course of the month, daily high temperatures drop from 26°C on October 1 to 23°C on October 31. Average daily lows also decrease, from 17°C in the beginning of the month to 13°C near the end. High peaks and low drops of 30°C and 8°C are possible in October. The temperature of the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas averages 23°C, still pretty warm and a full three degrees warmer than the average daily temperature. Temperaturewise, October is comparable to May.

Not only the temperature decreases in Marmaris in October; the amount of daylight does too. With 11.47 hours of daylight, October 1 is the longest day of the month. The shortest October day is the last day of the month, October 31, with 10.41 daylight hours. The total decrease of daylight is 1.07 hours, which means that every October day is 2.1 minutes shorter than the day before.

Another decrease is observed in the amount of sunshine. With 9 hours of sunshine, there is a significant decrease compared with September (11 hours), August (13 hours) and July (14 hours). And the amount of sunshine keeps getting lower in the course of the month, as the cloud cover increases. The month starts off with 32% of cloud cover in October 1 and ends with 52% of cloud cover on October 31, a large increase of 20%.

With an increase of cloud cover comes a bigger chance of rainfall. While October 1 has a fairly low chance of precipitation of 16%, by the end of the month there is a 27% chance that it will rain. The most common type of rainfall are thunderstorms, which on average happen on 68% of the days with precipitation. 26% of rainy days see only light rain, while 5% of the days of rainfall have moderate rain. Snow is very unlikely to fall in Marmaris. October has 12 days of rainfall, which also means that there still are 19 dry days, and receives a total of 81mm of precipitation in October. This makes it the fifth-wettest month of the year, well behind the soaking wet months of December and January, which get 290mm and 231mm of rain respectively

The relatively mild October temperatures mean that you would be fine to be out and about during the day in a short and T-shirt. It is, however, a good idea to pack warmer clothing such as trousers and a light jacket for the evenings. This is an ideal time of year to visit if you dislike intense heat and large crowds you can soak up the last of the summer sun, while the leaves start to turn brown at home!

    Where to stay

Fantasia Hotel Marmaris is a four-star hotel located in Icmeler. This seafront hotel has 84 rooms and 6 suites. Close to the beach and restaurants and nightclubs, its location couldn’t be any better. Amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, restaurant, bar, fitness centre, wellness centre, a beauty salon and a whirlpool.

Another good accommodation option in central Icmeler is Nergis Icmeler Resort. In addition to well-equipped modern rooms, there are also a few bars, a restaurant, laundry services, jewellery shop, outdoor swimming pool, Turkish baths and a boutique.

In the Marmaris city centre you may want to stay at the four-star Mehtap Beach Hotel. This one is located a short distance from all the action and has bicycle and car rental services, water sports equipment rental, a pool, billiards room, restaurant and bar.

Supreme Hotel Marmaris lies in the heart of the resort, near Long Beach and other attractions. This four-star boutique hotel has 60 rooms, all equipped with a mini-bar, private bathroom, TV and internet. You can enjoy a meal seafood and international cuisine in the two restaurants, cocktails in the lobby bar or snacks in the outdoor poolside bar. There is also a children pool, a café, spa and wellness centre, Turkish baths, terrace lounges, a meeting room and a games room with darts, billiards and table tennis.

    Hit the beach

Besides the beaches of Cennet Island and Dalyan, there are many more great beaches in the region. Good options are the Blue Flag (ecological) beach in Turunc, the gorgeous eight-kilometer-long beach in Icmeler and both beaches in the centre of the resort itself.

These two beaches are Long Beach and Folk Beach, each equipped with sun beds, snack bars, drink stands and parasols. If the weather doesn’t allow for swimming, you could go on a long beachfront walk on the pedestrian promenade. This beautiful walkway is lined with cafés, bars, restaurants and shops and leads all the way from Marmaris to Icmeler.

    Where to eat and drink

One big advantage of the shoulder season is that you most likely won’t have to make any reservations anymore when going to a restaurant. Most restaurants are located near Netsel Marina and along the beachfront. Nightclubs and bars can be found on aptly named Bar Street.

For authentic Turkish food, you should head to Kircicegi Restaurant. This fine restaurant uses its own recipes and cooking methods and serves a wide variety of kebabs, soups and delicious desserts.

A restaurant that combines both great food and vibrant nightlife is Mad Atilla Mustis. This centrally located and popular place started off as a small café, but has grown into one of the resort’s main places for nightly entertainment. In addition to international cuisine, the evening programs often include karaoke, theme nights, belly dancing and folk dancing.

Serious partying can be done at Crazy Daisy Bar & Nightclub, located smack-bang in the middle of the party hub that is Bar Street. This large nightclub there is room for 1,300 people features a terrace with lounges, a lively bar, live DJs, and a new event almost every night of the week. The club is open from 9.00 pm until 4.00 am.

Another popular nighttime destination is Faros Beach Pub. This one is located in the neighborhood of Siteler and, besides pub fare, also has karaoke nights, beach parties and theme nights.

    Things to do

One of the greatest places to visit in the region is Dalyan. This resort, an extraordinary combination of natural beauty and historic sites, lies about 80 kilometers southeast of the city centre of Marmaris and is famous for several things. There are great beaches, several stunning lakes and a maze of tree-lined canals and reed-lined rivers. These waterways can be explored by little boats. The Dalyan Delta is an important conservation area and provides a refuge for sea turtles the area is actually world-famous for its Caretta Caretta sea turtles and blue crabs. Both animals can be seen on beautiful Iztuzu Beach, surrounded by saltwater on one side and freshwater on the other. This beach is also appropriately known as Turtle Beach. Tours that run to Dalyan will stop at this beach for a while, so you can go exploring.

Another major highlight in Dalyan is the ancient harbour city of Kaunos. Kaunos was a Carian city in the 4th century BC and has left behind a wealth of ruins and historic sites. Make sure not to miss the spectacular Lycian tombs that are carved into the cliffs at a bend in the Dalyan River. Additionally, the area also has ruins of a terraced temple, theatres, etcetera. It doesn’t stop there though. Dalyan has yet another surprise. The resort is also home to famous mud baths, a sulfur pool and thermal springs. These natural spas have attracted visitors for centuries and are said to cure diseases such as rheumatism. There are showers available where you can wash away the mud.

Dalyan and Kaunos are popular destinations on boat trips from Marmaris and strongly recommended. Tours run from May through October, so now is the time to go!

Another place that you should check out is Cennet Island, also known as Paradise Island. This little piece of paradise lies just across Marmaris Bay and is also a much-visited destination on boat trips from the resort. Although it’s called an island, it is actually a peninsula, the Nimara Peninsula. The peninsula/island is covered with pine forests and fringed with sandy beaches; a quiet and secluded refuge so close to the hustle and bustle of Marmaris. You can also reach Cennet Island by car it’s an eight-kilometer drive. Stop at Fake Straight and continue to the island on foot. There are a few caves on the island, but the most popular activities are walking on the footpaths that lead all across the island, sunbathing, and swimming in the crystal-clear water. Additionally, the area is a popular destination among photographers for its stunning natural beauty.

Rest in Marmaris in October. What to do and what to see in Marmaris? What weather to expect?

Marmaris is a wonderful Turkish resort in every sense on the Aegean coast. It has been noticed that in this cozy town you can often meet tourists from Germany, France, Holland, and there are a little less Russians than, say, in Kemer. It just so happens that Marmaris is a more European resort, and therefore, those who do not speak English will have to stock up on a dictionary to communicate with hotel or restaurant staff.

The beach season starts along the Turkish coast in May, but the most pleasant heat comes in July-August. Many people prefer to travel to Turkey in September or October, during the so-called velvet season, when there is no such sweltering heat. Here’s what a holiday in Marmaris is like in the last month of the season, read below.

Oh, how good it is in Marmaris in October! Immediately, we note that the weather conditions in Marmaris are more comfortable compared to resorts in the Antalya region (where there are more Russians): it’s not so humid here, and the air in Marmaris is filled with essential oils of coniferous forests, so it’s easy to breathe there (and healthy ). The unbearable heat subsides in October, pleasant warmth comes. The average daily air temperature there at this time is +25…+28°C, while in the sun it can be up to +30°C. But the nights in those parts, although not chilly, are not so hot anymore: on average, about +15 … +19degrees. Early in the morning and late in the evening – a pleasant coolness, but you can still walk in shorts. It should also be noted that the most pleasant weather in Marmaris is in the first two weeks, and then the weather can deteriorate a little, the temperatures gradually decrease (in the afternoon at the end of October it can already be + 20 . .. + 23 ° С, and at night + 13-15 degrees) . In any case, during the day in October in Marmaris you can walk in a T-shirt and light shoes, and at night you can fall asleep perfectly with an open window.

Of course, you can swim in October. True, the sea this month in Marmaris is no longer “fresh milk”. By the way, the Aegean Sea is always a little cooler than the Mediterranean, and therefore in early October the water temperature is about +24-25°C (which is not bad), and by the last days – up to +22-23°C. In the last days of October, there are already fewer people on the beaches of Marmaris, because the conditions are not so comfortable, but in early October everyone bathes with great pleasure.

What to do in Marmaris in October

First of all, you should know that Marmaris is a resort with excellent tourist infrastructure, and it is never boring here, neither for adults nor for children.

In October, as mentioned above, in view of the beautiful weather in the first days of the month, you will have an excellent beach holiday. The beaches in Marmaris are beautiful, no exaggeration. Some beaches of the resort and the area have even been awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness and suitability for recreation. The city beach of Marmaris, however, cannot boast of special cleanliness, but there will be a lot of people on this beach in October – this is a very pleasant fact.

You can also go for new experiences at Icmeler Beach (7 kilometers west of Marmaris). No less good are beaches on the northern side of the Jennet peninsula and beaches of Kumlubuk and Turunc bays (that’s exactly what they got this Blue Flag).

Marmaris will be very fun with children, as this resort has excellent family hotels with children’s animation, however, there are not so many of them compared to the Mediterranean coast. In general, Marmaris is a somewhat more youthful resort. But there are activities for the kids. In addition to water parks, for example, there are attractions in shopping centers (for example, in the shopping center “Point cener” and “Kipa”), amusement parks (near the “Point cener” in early October there may be mini amusement parks that work in the evenings, sometimes you can see attractions and trampolines near Ataturk Square) and playgrounds in the parks of the city (one of the best is located next to the Ataturk monument).

Don’t miss the chance to take a excursion to local attractions. October, in view of the warm and clear weather, is ideal for excursions. One of the most interesting places in the area – Ashartepe , an archaeological center in the northern part of Marmaris, which was founded on the site of the ancient city of Fiskos. Throughout the history of the city, a variety of peoples lived in Fiscos – Minoans, Rhodesians, Assyrians, Egyptians, Dorians, Macedonians, Syrians, Persians, Romans and Byzantines, Seljuks, Ottomans and whoever else! Today, only ruins remain of the once prosperous city. In addition to the “dead” part of the city, there is also a “living part” – a beautiful garden with peacocks walking on the grass.

Few people know about the tomb of Sariana . In appearance, this is not at all an “incredible” building, but it’s worth going there once. The tomb is located at the exit of Marmaris (follow the sign “Nimara’s Cave” and then turn right. Before reaching Netsel Marina you will see the sign “Tomb of Sariana”). A bit of history: Sariana is a famous soothsayer who lived in the Marmaris area in the 16th century. She was famous for her virtue and correct predictions, so the sultans themselves turned to her for advice. Well, the tomb was erected to her after one of her advice (on the conquest of Rhodes) turned out to be useful and true. Entrance to the tomb is free for everyone, but you must follow the same rules as for visiting the mosque (do not enter in shorts and bareheaded).

Another ancient attraction of the resort is Marmaris Fortress (Marmaris Kalesi), which is located on a mountain in the center of the peninsula. This is perhaps the main attraction of the city. It is believed that this massive fort was built in the 3rd millennium BC, which is already impressive. The castle was repeatedly set on fire, destroyed, rebuilt again, fired upon and conquered. Today, inside the fortress there is a museum with an archaeological exposition and an ethnographic hall (seven galleries in total). The place is very useful for those who do not know anything about the richest and most interesting history of Marmaris, and in general, this fortress surprises, and excellent views of the port, the bay and the resort itself open from the mountain.

Another favorite excursion from Marmaris is a trip to Cleopatra Island . The narrow and long island is located about 18 kilometers from the coast of Marmaris. Why is it named after Cleopatra? As usual, they made up a romantic story that Mark Antony gave this piece of sushi many, many years ago to his beloved, Cleopatra. Beauty did not like the sand on the island.

SST is one measure that provides information on the global climate, and it can be used to predict the weather in Palma de Mallorca as well as atmospheric model simulations and to study marine ecosystems in the area.

Data source and citation

Raw data for the calculations made to find the sea surface temperature in Palma de Mallorca comes from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and their 1/4° daily Optimum Interpolation Sea Surface Temperature.

The water temperature data is constructed by combining observations from different platforms (satellites, ships, buoys, and Argo floats) on a regular global grid. A spatially complete sea surface temperature map is then built by interpolating to fill in gaps in the data.

Schools in England and Wales break up for summer half term this weekend, with the break running from May 27 to May 31. Scotland has a shorter break from May 24 to 27. And Northern Ireland needs to wait a bit longer for the summer holidays to begin on July 1. So for those heading off for a break, what is the weather looking like in the Balearics?

What is the Mallorca weather forecast?

You’ll be happy to hear the weather for the half term holiday in Mallorca is looking sunny and warm.

Between Monday, May 27 and Sunday, June 2, the average high will be 24C, and the average low will be 13C.

No rain or clouds are due for the week.

However, if you thought you might beat the rush by heading to the Balearics early, you might be disappointed.

This weekend is promising to be a wet one, with a huge weather system pouring in over Europe.

BBC Weather forecaster Sarah Keith-Lucas said low pressure will push into the west of the continent on Friday.

This will bring “increasingly showery weather” to parts of Spain and France over the weekend.

Ms Keith-Lucas said: “There is a lot of unsettled weather in the forecast across many parts of Europe for the coming few days.”

She added: “It has been really warm across Iberia but temperatures on the dip for Portugal and Spain with some heavy showers across the Pyrenees.”

BBC weather forecaster Stave Danaos warned the storms could cause traffic delays.

He said: “We are seeing heavy flooding downpours across parts of the Balkans and into Bosnia and Herzegovina, with lots of lightning strikes here over the last 24 hours.

Mallorca weather forecast: The weather is due to recover on Sunday, just in time for the holidays (Image: Getty)

“The storms will be shifting a little bit further eastwards on Tuesday.

“We could be looking at some travel issues there with some of the torrential downpours which could cause some issues on the roads.

“It is looking dry for the far west of Europe – that’s thanks to a building area of high pressure over the Atlantic.”

But the weather is due to recover on Sunday, just in time for the holidays.

By Wednesday, May 29, temperatures will be back up in the mid-twenties and settled conditions will have returned.

Where to Go to Avoid Getting SAD

Last updated: By Andrea

January is over, winter is digging its heels in and we’re starting to show signs of SAD. February is the month for weekend getaways, hopefully to a destination where we can replenish our vitamin D supplies and get out of the mid-winter rut.

Where to Go in Europe in February

Where to go in Europe in February? If you’re staying in Europe your best options are to head south for the best weather, an off-season visit to what is normally an overcrowded tourist destination or maybe something completely different with a trip to the extreme north.

Seville, Spain

Southern Spain and Seville, in particular, is one of the warmest and sunniest destinations in Europe. The forecast today is for clear skies and 22 degrees. That’s like England in the middle of summer (if you’re lucky)!

Seville has some spectacular sights, the Alcazar Palace, the incredible Plaza de Espana, the massive gothic cathedral and you can even watch a flamenco show.

Be sure to feast on all kinds of delicious tapas and local specialities like huevos a la flamenco (eggs baked with chorizo and tomato sauce), espinacas con garbanzos (spinach with chick peas), solomillo al whiskey (pork cooked in whisky) and Andalusian ham.

Florence, Italy

Florence is one of the world’s most fascinating and beautiful cities and one of the most visited. The Tuscan city is busy all year round but February is fairly quiet so you can take in David, the Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio in relative peace.

Take advantage of fewer crowds by spending your time at the Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia and eating all the best Tuscan food.

Lisbon, Portugal

Along with fresh seafood, flamed Portuguese chouriço, piri piri chicken and sweet pasteis de nata, Lisbon often has blue skies in winter.

Few tourists make their way to Portugal in February so there’s a chance you’ll have the Jeronimos Monastery and Belem Tower to yourself yet the popular Alfama district will still be busy enough to keep you entertained.

Nice, France

Sticking to the clear blue skies in winter theme, Nice has that plus all the delicious boulangeries and local specialities. Try the famous socca, daube Niçoise, farcis (stuffed vegetables) and the classic Niçoise salad, all of which you’d expect to find in the south of France.

Take relaxing coastal walks along the Promenade des Anglais and enjoy the gentle climb up to the Colline du Chateau (Castle Hill) for amazing views over Nice and the Baie des Anges (or take the Art Deco lift).

Nordic Europe – The Northern Lights

If you can put the cold out of your mind, February is a great time to see the mysterious aurora borealis, the northern lights.

You can spot them everywhere in Nordic Europe but the best locations are Iceland, Tromso in Norway, Abisko in Swedish Lapland or you can even see them in northern Scotland on the rare occasion you have clear skies.

Don’t forget to take a tripod so you can take photos.

Those are my suggestions for where to travel in Europe in February. This list of the top 50 places to visit in Europe will give you more ideas. Tweet me where you would like to go in February.

Weather forecast for Europe for the coming months and winter 2013/2014

Weather forecast for Europe for the coming months and winter 2013/2014

In most countries of our continent, the winter will be warm and dry – says Alan Reppert forecaster with AccuWeather. In his opinion, stormy weather, typical for the period December-February in the Mediterranean Basin region, will visit Eastern Europe this year. It will be warm and clear in the South.

It will be warm in Western Europe

Residents of the UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Austria may not be afraid of a hard winter – after a dynamic and rainy autumn, the following months will be warm, snow and frost will be rare. In Spain, Portugal and western France, it will be colder than usual only in in the first half of winter . It will be especially cold in December – meteorologists say.

Weather in Ukraine for tomorrow

26 November 22:30

Compared to the last wet winter, rains and snowstorms in the mountainous regions of Italy, Greece and the Balkans will appear much less frequently. A powerful anticyclone, which will dominate in the central and western part of the continent, will lead to the fact that snow in most European countries will be much less than than usual. However, the air temperature will be within normal limits . At the same time, the Baltic States, Belarus and Ukraine are waiting for a very dynamic winter with frequent cyclones, sudden changes in weather conditions, strong winds and excessive precipitation .

Relatively dry winter expected in central Europe

Most of the snow is expected in Scandinavia and the west of the ETR. In Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova throughout the winter, there is a high probability of sharp, but short-term cooling due to frequent inflows of Arctic air in the rear of active cyclones, which will follow mainly along the line south of Scandinavia-Baltic-Ukraine.

Snow problems in the mountains

“Most ski resorts in the Alps will struggle for enough snow, especially at low altitudes. There will be little snow, and if the front comes, then due to low temperatures there will be rain , ”warns Reppert. American weather forecasters believe that the most dangerous weather will be at the beginning and also at the end of winter in the territory from central France to Germany, and in Poland – especially in the middle of the season – it will be dry. It will be wet in Ireland and in the UK, mainly in January and February.

Over the Mediterranean Sea cyclonic activity will be weakened, so the southern cyclones are expected to be less in the season, and they will be relatively weak.

Cold in Russia and at the end of winter in the west of the continent

More than 90,003 cold weather conditions 90,004 will be experienced by residents of the northeastern part of the continent, including Russia. D December and the beginning of January will be really winter there. The good news is that the newest forecasts say about the cold and snowy winter in Sochi , where the “Winter Olympic Games” will be held in February 2014.

Meanwhile, AccuWeather warns of a sudden warming of the stratosphere, which will occur in late winter in the west of the continent. This situation will lead to advection (movement) of air from the Arctic to the British Isles. But these are only preliminary forecasts – weather forecasters add.

  • Sample Galicia’s wines – known famously all over Spain as the producer of white albariño wine and no Galicia visit would be complete without sampling a glass or two
  • Visit the region’s capital city, Santiago de Compostela. As the end location of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage, the city has somewhat of mythical status and this is only heightened by the many religious sites dotted around the city
  • Visit the Galician seaside town of Vigo and sample some of the finest seafood in all of Spain, caught fresh from the Vigo coast
  • Head out to the Cies Islands – with no cars, pristine beaches and rugged coastal views, the Cies Islands are some of Europe’s last untouched and lesser-known islands. A short seaward journey will take you to these magical islands.

Granada

Granada is one of the most famous cities in southern Spain’s Andalusia region. Home to the impressive Alhambra Palace (the beautiful Moorish Palace, part of which is pictured above) in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The Alhambra alone makes it a premier destination in Spain, but there is plenty to do in the surrounding area too.

Things to do in Granada
  • Spend a full day exploring the Alhambra Palace, Generalife Gardens and Nasrid Palaces
  • Wander the streets of Albaycin and Sacromonte and see the old Arab houses in these historic districts
  • Find your favorite miradores (lookout points), Eat Tapas, Watch a Flamenco dancing show & be merry!

Malaga

The Spanish City of Malaga has been a firm favorite with UK holidaymakers for years, and with a range of things to do, excellent day trip options and beautiful beaches, it’s not hard to see why. (Read our full guide to Malaga here for more)

Things to do in Malaga
  • Wander the old town, tapas hopping from bar to hole in the wall.
  • Relax on the beaches (and in the flashy beach clubs!) of Marbella.
  • Be brave and walk on the edge of the cliff on the Caminito Del Rey
  • Enjoy the amazing views of the 3 arch bridge in Ronda.
  • Explore the famous Pueblos Blancos (White Villages) of Andalucia such as Antequera, Casares or Frigiliana.

Best Places to Visit in Spain: The Islands

Ibiza

Made famous by its clubland and party island reputation, this Balearic island in the Mediterranean sea has begun to show its versatility in modern times and has proven that has more to offer than hedonistic parties. Along with the party vibes, Ibiza is a landscape of overwhelming natural beauty, quaint fishing villages and more recently has become the epicentre for yoga classes and teachings.

Things to see in Ibiza
  • Visit the renascence fort built in the reign of Charles V
  • Head to San Antonio for a perfect combination of picturesque beaches and world-famous nightclubs.
  • Enjoy the vast array of watersport lessons available, including surfing, kayaking and stand up paddleboards
  •  Visit Ibiza cathedral, a 14th century built building with scenic lookouts across the island

Tenerife, Lanzarote or Gran Canaria

The Canary Islands, located approximately 1300km South West of the Spanish mainland, and 108km off the coast of Africa, are made up of Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera, and Ferro. It is the first 4 of these that are the most popular tourist islands, with each offering something slightly different.

Things to do in the Canary Islands
  • Drive to the top of the highest point in Spain at the peak of Mount Teide on Tenerife (it’s just one of the most popular Tenerife excursions)
  • Go dolphin spotting or whale watching
  • Ride a camel through the dunes on Gran Canaria
  • Love waterparks? You’re spoilt for choice in the Canary Islands.

Mallorca

Palma de Mallorca is a resort city and capital of the Balaeric island of Mallorca (Majorca). The massive Santa María cathedral (pictured above) is one of the top tourist attractions on the Island and a Gothic landmark whose construction began in the 13th century. It majestically overlooks the Bay of Palma ad lies adjacent to the Almudaina, a Moorish-style Arab fortress converted to a royal residence. Take in this culturally rich capital as you wander the streets of the casco antiguo (old town) and enjoy the squares, medieval architecture before heading to the wide-open promenade which stretches 10 miles to Portixol (little port) with it’s super cute marina.

Things to do in Palma
  • Relax at the Beach
  • Take a walk through a pine forest to circular Bellver Castle
  • Walk the Tapas Trail of the Ruta Martiana (Tapas Tuesday) – a clever marketing ploy cooked-up by the cities restaurants to encourage people to eat out on what is typically a very quiet night of the week.
  • See the ancient Arab baths.
