March is a perfect month to visit Tenerife. The temperature is comfortable both by day and night and the sea is warm enough to swim in. Pack a hoodie and light jacket just in case the night time temperature takes a dip. We’ve looked at the most up-to-date weather data for Tenerife, covering the last 12 years up to 2023, plus we’ve asked our team of travel bloggers for their first-hand experiences in order to answer the most frequently asked questions about Tenerife weather in March.

What’s the temperature like in Tenerife during March?

The temperature is extremely stable in March with average highs of 20℃ and lows just 3℃ lower at 17℃. The UV index will be moderate at this time of year, so not something to worry about for the average person. However, if you’re going to be outside for long periods it’s worth wearing a broad spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen and UV-blocking sunglasses. Remember that bright surfaces, such as water and sand increase UV exposure.

Does it rain in Tenerife during March?

The answer is no. Tenerife is typically bone dry in March. You’re not likely to see a thunderstorm during your trip.

Is it windy in Tenerife during March?

You’re unlikely to experience any strong winds. Expect a gentle breeze that increases to moderate at times during March. With warm air temperatures and high humidity, any breeze will feel warm but refreshing.

How warm is the sea in Tenerife during March?

The water around Tenerife is around 19℃ during March. It will feel a little on the cool when first entering, but you’ll warm up quickly. Most kids will have no problem with this temperature, but those who feel the cold are unlikely to want to swim.

The Best Places to Travel in March

Inspiration

Whether you’re ready to hit the slopes or flee to warmer climes.

Courtesy Auberge Resorts

If you’re looking for the best places to travel in March, we’ve got you covered. Though the month may be dedicated to spring break, there is so much more to traveling during this time than sipping margaritas with coeds. As spring looms in the northern hemisphere, destinations begin to emerge from winter hibernation with warmer temperatures and blooming flowers. Meanwhile, popular destinations in South America and Asia offer a blessed lack of humidity (and crowds) than you may experience in the busier summer months.

Whether you’re looking to warm up with a tropical beach vacation or want to cling to the last days of winter with a ski trip, this is the month to do it. Here are nine of the best places to travel in March, from Austin to Greenland.

This article has been updated with new information since its original publish date. All listings featured in this story are independently selected by our editors. However, when you book something through our retail links, we may earn an affiliate commission.

    Cartagena, Colombia

Cartagena is one of the best places to travel in March, thanks to weather primed for both city exploration and beach relaxation. Temperatures stick around the high 70s and low 80s without too much humidity, and ocean breezes make for cool and comfortable evenings. Visit the UNESCO-listed Old Town, complete with cobbled streets and colonial-era architecture, as well as the high-rise-heavy neighborhood of Bocagrande and street-art haven of Getsemaní.

While there are several city beaches to enjoy, it’s worth taking a quick drive outside city limits to see some truly pristine stretches of sand. Take a 1.5-hour bus ride to Isla Barú, where you can swim in the cerulean waters at Playa Blanca and sample plates of ceviche at local restaurants. You can also take a boat ride to the Rosario Islands, a coral archipelago about one hour southwest of the city, to experience some of the region’s best snorkeling. Back in town, rest up at Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards darling Sofitel Legend Santa Clara, located right at the northern edge of Cartagena’s historic district.

    Raja Ampat, Indonesia

It takes a bit of effort to reach the Raja Ampat Islands—flying first to Jakarta, then to Sorong, where most travelers hop on a liveaboard. But once you arrive, you’ll be greeted by lush jungles, blue channels, and biodiverse reefs. The archipelago is truly a scuba diver’s dream, where an average dive gets you up close to manta rays, hawksbill turtles, and around 1,300 species of colorful coral-dwelling fish. There’s really no bad time to visit, but March typically yields the best diving weather (think less rain and calmer waters).

The most popular way to explore Raja Ampat is by booking a small cruise or yacht, and you have several great options to choose from. In late 2019, Aqua Expeditions unveiled a new long-range cruising yacht, Aqua Blu, that offers seven-night, island-hopping itineraries. The boat has 15 sea-facing suites and a spa, and guests can partake in activities like snorkeling, kayaking, diving to manta ray cleaning stations, and searching for elusive bird of paradise species on guided hikes.

  • Courtesy Montage Hotels

    Big Sky, Montana

If you think ski season is over by the time March rolls around, think again: Montana’s Big Sky Resort doesn’t close its slopes until April 24, meaning you can still enjoy prime conditions during this month. Big Sky features an incredible 5,850 acres of skiable terrain, with sizable portions dedicated to both beginner and expert runs. It’s easily one of the best ski destinations in the country, but the region offers so much more than rides down the slopes. Yellowstone National Park is just an hour away, for example, and the park’s geothermal pools look even more brilliant set against a backdrop of snow.

A March visit also means you’ll be one of the first people to stay at Montage Big Sky, an alpine resort that opened its doors in mid-December 2021. Aside from offering ski-in, ski-out access to Big Sky Resort, the Montage property provides guests with opportunities for snowshoeing, Nordic skiing, hiking, and fly-fishing—not to mention some seriously luxurious interiors. Cozy up by the lobby fireplace or snuggle in the fur throw at the foot of your bed, then treat yourself to a massage or grab a craft cocktail at the après-ski bar.

  • Getty

    Washington, D.C.

While we’re big fans of D.C. any time of year, there is one particularly colorful reason to visit in March: cherry blossoms. The pink flowers typically reach peak bloom around the last week of March or first week of April, lining up with the National Cherry Blossom Festival from March 20 to April 17, 2022. But CherryBlossomWatch.com predicts an earlier-than-usual peak bloom this year (thanks to our warm winter), so you’ll definitely want to plan on visiting in March as opposed to risking it in April.

You can see the Yoshino cherry blossoms around the Tidal Basin, East Potomac Park, and the Washington Monument—car access at these sites is extremely limited, so you should plan on taking a local bus or walking from the Smithsonian metro stop. You should also try to book a hotel close to the National Mall so you don’t have to spend too much time in transit. The InterContinental at the Wharf and Thompson Washington D.C. are both excellent choices, and staff there can help you with blossom-centered plans and tips.

  • Getty

    Dana Point, California

Dana Point, a small harbor city along California’s southern coast, is known for its incredible dolphin and whale populations. That reputation was cemented in early 2021, when the town was dubbed the first “Whale Heritage Site” in the United States, courtesy of the World Cetacean Alliance. Dana Point is now one of five global destinations to receive such an honor, specifically created to recognize destinations that offer dolphin- and whale-watching experiences that are both responsible and sustainable.

While you can see some whale species year-round, February and March are known as peak season to see the California Gray Whales as they make their annual migration to Baja California. Book a 2.5-hour tour with Captain Dave’s Dolphin & Whale Watching Safari, where you can see the magnificent mammals from an underwater glass pod while listening to a live narration from expert naturalists. Or, book the OC Wine Cruise with Dana Wharf Sportfishing & Whale Watching, which lets passengers sample four different organic wines while they scan the sunset-lit waters for breaching whales.

  • Courtesy Auberge Resorts

    Austin, Texas

Every year, hundreds of thousands of people descend upon Austin for South by Southwest (SXSW), a festival centered around the tech, film, and music industries. After taking a brief hiatus in 2021, SXSW will officially return to the Texas capital from March 11 to 20, 2022. (Register here.) This year’s lineup includes film screenings and concerts, as well as keynote addresses from Alexis McGill Johnson, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood, and Reggie Fils-Aimé, former president and COO of Nintendo of America.

If you’re solely interested in music, you can also stop by the concurrent South by San Jose festival (March 16–20), held in the Hotel San Jose and Jo’s Coffee parking lot. Now in its 22nd year, the four-day event features live music and local vendors, and it’s free to attend. While you’re in town, be among the first people to check out some of Austin’s hottest new restaurants and hotels. Pay a visit to taco truck Con Todo and wine bar Birdie’s, both of which have already earned rave reviews since opening in 2021. Then check in to Commodore Perry Estate, Auberge Resorts Collection, a Hot List winner that feels like a secret European escape (even though it’s just 10 minutes from downtown).

  • Getty

    Ilulissat, Greenland

Greenland is icy, mysterious, and one of the most naturally beautiful places on the planet. And while the concept of the summertime midnight sun is appealing, there are many advantages to skirting the June to September crowds in favor of a late-winter sojourn. The coastal town of Ilulissat is particularly appealing in March, when there are less tourists, lower hotel prices, and a lack of mosquitoes and other pesky bugs (a major problem in the summer months). The town also happens to shine most beautifully at this time, with a thick layer of snow shrouding the region in a peaceful silence.

You can reach Ilulissat via an Air Greenland flight from either Copenhagen or Reykjavik. The Ilulissat Icefjord (one of the northernmost UNESCO World Heritage Sites) can be seen from your plane window, but you’ll want to get an even closer look at the massive collection of icebergs. AirZafari offers small-plane flights in Ilulissat, while you can find helicopter tours through Air Greenland. If you book a stay at Hotel Arctic, you can also book boat and helicopter tours (along with dog sled rides, walking tours through town, and more) directly through the concierge.

    Qatar

As Qatar gears up to host the FIFA World Cup towards the end of 2022, there’s never been a better time to visit. The country’s location on a peninsula jutting into the Persian Gulf provides year-round sunshine, with temperatures regularly hovering around the mid-80s each afternoon. It’s also an easy introduction to touring around the region—especially when it comes to outdoor adventures. With activities ranging from kayaking through the Al Thakira Mangrove Forest to exploring the sand dunes and sea beds of Khor Al Adaid (the Inland Sea), you’ll certainly take full advantage of that winter sun.

For a deep-dive into Qatari culture, be sure to check out some of the splashy museums in the capital city of Doha. The Jean Nouvel-designed National Museum of Qatar is still buzzing after opening in 2019, while the Museum of Islamic Art, designed by I. M. Pei, is a gleaming staple of the city’s waterfront skyline. But don’t let the modern architecture completely distract you from the Souq Waqif, a centuries-old labyrinthine market filled with stalls and cafes—and conveniently located a couple blocks away from the Mandarin Oriental Doha, one of the city’s absolute best hotels.

    Panama

We named Panama one of the best places to visit in 2022, thanks to its biodiverse jungles, sprawling beaches, and relative lack of crowds compared to neighboring Costa Rica. March is a great time to experience all of that outdoor splendor, with temperatures in the 70s and 80s and lots of sunshine (the rainy season kicks off in April). The Caribbean-facing province of Bocas del Toro is a one-stop shop for both gorgeous beaches and active wildlife. For a truly memorable experience, take a nighttime snorkeling trip through bioluminescent waters with Hello Travel Panama.

A straight shot south from Bocas del Toro, the Pacific Ocean-facing province Chiriquí offers an equally beautiful, but wholly different slice of nature. Here you can hike through cloud forests, swim beneath roaring waterfalls, and witness the panoramic sunrise from the summit of Volcán Barú. Check in at the new 10-room boutique hotel Finca El Oasis right on the edge of the volcano, or venture a bit off the Pacific Gulf to the remote, luxurious 400-acre resort of Isla Palenque.

Table of the Seasons

Austria

Excursions in summer and skiing in winter make Austria popular all year round. Summer high season is July and August. In winter, from mid-December to the end of March, it’s time for skiing and other winter sports. Spring in the Alps is June, when the endless mountains are covered with a carpet of colorful flowers

Andorra

The ski season lasts from December to the end of March, although in some resorts all conditions for skiing are preserved even later – there is artificial snow. Hiking season – from late spring to October: at this time the surroundings are especially picturesque

Argentina

For residents of the northern hemisphere, Argentina offers a tempting opportunity to enjoy summer twice a year. In Buenos Aires, the summer months are very hot, and most residents leave right after Christmas for a vacation. In January and February the city is empty. In winter, for Europeans, the weather is very pleasant, the temperature drops, but only slightly. The Andean regions are characterized by rainy weather and frequent floods in the summer season, intense heat in the summer, snow cover of the mountainous regions in winter and frequent dry hot winds, which are called “sonda” here. Temperature fluctuations are quite significant both between seasons and within one day

Bahamas

You can go to the Bahamas at any time, as the cool Atlantic trade winds keep the air temperature even throughout the year. The exception is the southern islands, on the beaches of which the weather can be quite hot in summer. The rainy season runs from May to November, with the peak tourist season occurring in the first three months of the year

Bulgaria

Bulgaria has hot, dry summers and cold, wet winters. In spring, the best time to visit Bulgaria is from April to mid-June, when the weather is warm, pleasant and most holidays and festivals take place. Mid-June to September is a good time for hiking and relaxing by the sea in summer, although the coast can be very crowded. The ski season starts in mid-December and lasts until April

Brazil

The best time to travel is from April to September. Brazil has six climate types: equatorial, tropical, tropical highland, tropical Atlantic, semi-arid and subtropical. Spring from September 22 to December 21 Summer from December 22 to March 21 Autumn from March 22 to June 21 Winter from June 22 to September 21. The average annual temperature is approximately 28C in the northern part of Brazil and 20C in the south. Most of the rain falls in the Amazon region. There are areas, mainly in the south of the country, where it sometimes snows, frost falls, and the temperature drops below zero. In Rio de Janeiro, at the height of summer, the temperature rises to 40C. nine0011

United Kingdom

England has a mild climate due to the relative warmth of the seas surrounding it. The rainiest month is October. It is followed by September, June, July and … January. An umbrella is needed here both in winter and in summer: it rains here 180 days a year.

Hungary

The coldest month is January, the hottest is August.

Venezuela

Dry season from October to March, wet season from April to September.

Vietnam

Any time is good for a trip to Vietnam: when it is too cold or rainy in one region, the weather is warm and dry in another. In the southern regions, your trip may be overshadowed by the rainy season, which occurs from May to November. In the north, the cold months from November to April should be avoided. Typhoons can rage in the central and northern regions of the country from July to November. Most major religious festivals follow the lunar calendar. At the end of January, there is the celebration of the Tet festival, which marks the beginning of the new year. In August, the Festival of Wandering Spirits is celebrated, during which believers will put food for forgotten ghosts outside their homes. In June, the Doan Ngu festival is held, accompanied by the ritual burning of portraits of the dead. nine0011

Germany

The best time to travel is from May to October
Greece The climate is mostly dry and temperate, although it often snows in the mountains and in the north. North Macedonia and northern Epirus have a similar climate to the Balkans with cold winters and hot, humid summers, while Attica, the Cyclades, the Dodecanese islands, Crete and the central and eastern Peloponnese have a more typical Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers. and milder winters. nine0003

Denmark

The best time to visit Denmark is in July or August. Mild climate without sudden temperature changes throughout the year.

Dominican Republic

From the end of spring to the beginning of autumn, the weather in the Dominican Republic will please lovers of running in the rain: at this time frequent, but short showers are possible. In August, despite the peak of the rainy season, the temperature can reach +33 C! And, although the heat is moderated by northeast sea breezes, we still recommend enjoying the weather of the Dominican Republic during the winter season, from December to April. The water temperature at this time is often higher than the air temperature: + 26-27 C, the mild winter sun shines, so the weather of the Dominican Republic will not be able to prevent you from getting to know this exotic country. nine0003

Egypt

Egypt has only two seasons: hot – from April to October, and cool – from November to the end of March.

Israel

Summer in Israel is long (from April to October), warm and almost rainless. During these months, in mountainous cities like Jerusalem and Safed, the air is drier and cooler than in other parts of the country. Winter, which lasts from November to March, is mostly mild, but quite cool in the mountainous regions. Rainy periods are interspersed with clear sunny days. At this time of the year, the Dead Sea and Eilat on the Red Sea enjoy perfectly warm, sunny weather. The weather in Israel allows you to swim in the sea all year round: from April to October – in the Mediterranean Sea and in Lake Kinneret; throughout the year – in the Dead and Red Seas. nine0003

India

India has a very varied climate. The most important feature of the Indian climate is the rainy season (monsoon period). It lasts from June for about 2 months. During the rest of the year, the climate is characterized by aridity (with the exception of the western coast).

Indonesia

The climate in Indonesia is equatorial-tropical. There are two seasons: dry – from April to October, and wet – from November to March. During the wet season, there is an average of 10 rains per month, half of which occurs at night. Bali has a tropical climate and good sunny weather lasts all year round. nine0011

Jordan

Jordan has long, warm and dry summers (April – October) and relatively mild winters (November – March). Rains mainly fall in the northern and central regions, in the south the amount of precipitation is extremely low. Climatic conditions differ in different regions. The coast has humid summers and mild winters (you can sunbathe and swim all year round). In the mountainous and desert regions – hot summers and relatively cold winters. In the central regions of the country, the climate is sharply continental – hot or warm days give way to rather cool nights

Spain

The best time to travel is May, June and September. In the south – April and October. At this time, the weather is very good and not hot.

Iceland

Given the climatic zones and completely different temperature regimes on different continents, the question arises of where to go so as not to miscalculate the weather. To do this, it would be quite useful to know how the holiday seasons are located in the countries of the world. It’s no secret that the best vacation is the one that was well planned. It would be a big mistake to go to any country without asking in advance what exactly you can do at a particular resort. nine0003

Weather and seasons in Morocco

9 at a time in what time best holiday in Morocco

The weather and climate in Morocco is not uniform due to the variety of climatic zones and because of the diversity of geographical landscapes. So, the desert in Morocco comes close to the high mountains of the Atlas – on the one hand, and on the other hand, moist oceanic and sea air collides on the coast with its sultry dry “breath”. The subtropics of the north of Morocco turn into a continental climate in the northwest and in the central part. And in the south of Morocco, the hot desert determines the weather. From north to south lies the mountain system of the Atlas Mountains, in the valleys and on the slopes of which their own mountain microclimate dominates. It is thanks to the unevenly mixed air masses (mountain, ocean and desert) found on the territory of the country that the climate here is full of contrasts. nine0003

The beach season in Morocco in the north on the Mediterranean Sea is very different from the beach season in the west, on the Atlantic. Therefore, let’s try to understand the intricacies of the weather features of holidays in Morocco and analyze when it is better to plan your vacation here. Let us examine in detail each type of holiday in the Kingdom and the most suitable season for tours in Morocco by months.

Weather in Morocco in January

This month is considered the most rainy month in the country. But don’t let that scare you – after all, the most severe precipitation occurs only in the north of the country – it can be in the form of rain or sleet (for example, in Tangier or Chefchaouen), in the coastal cities of the Atlantic it is simply cold and damp (in Casablanca and Rabat). In mountainous areas, severe frosts and stable snow cover are possible – especially in the mountains of the Middle and High Atlas. In the south of Morocco, in the cities of Ouarzazate and Marrakesh, rains are also possible, but they are short-lived and alternate with sunny warm days. The air temperature in the north at night can drop to 0 and even minus values. And during the day it warms up to + 7- + 10 degrees. In Casablanca and Rabat during the day it can be up to +12 – +14 degrees, which is comfortable for one-day city tours. The most comfortable time in January to stay in the south of the country – especially in Marrakesh and Ouarzazate. It is quite cold here at night – the proximity of the desert in winter especially cools the air at night, but during the day its heat and a certain “barrier” in the form of mountains create their own special climate and sometimes warm the air up to +20 degrees. Therefore, tours for the New Year in Morocco are mainly carried out in the city of Marrakesh. After all, the southern Moroccan sun and oranges on the trees create a bright festive mood! nine0003

Transitional season in Morocco is one of the months of the low season in the country. However, it is very comfortable for sightseeing tours around the country – especially in Moroccan cities. The air temperature is still comfortable, but the water is quite cold – no higher than +18 – +20 degrees. In Agadir in early November, you can still “catch” a favorable season if you choose a good bay protected from the winds and if the treacherous Canary current warms the water up to +22 degrees. Strong winds attract kite surfers and surfers to Morocco, who catch the wind and wave until December. nine0003

The beach season in Morocco is over! Sunny weather is set in the country in the south – in Marrakesh and Ouarzazate, where during the day you can even sunbathe by the pools! On the coast of the Atlantic it becomes dank and damp, the winds blow. In the mountains of the High Atlas, snow falls, ski resorts begin to work. Tourists come to the country for excursions and the lowest prices for accommodation of the year. At this time, it is comfortable in cities where there is no fussy crowd of tourists, sunny and fresh. We can safely say that the tourist season in Morocco lasts all year round! In any month of the year, you can find a city and destinations for recreation.

The beach season in the country lasts from May to November, and the swimming season – from June to October.

Velvet season in Morocco lasts from September to November.

The skiing season in winter resorts is possible from December to the end of February, especially it makes sense to take a closer look at the resort of Oukaimedon in the High Atlas Mountains, an hour and a half drive from Marrakesh. nine0003

The rainy season in the country does not interfere with recreation, as there are no prolonged downpours and you can always find a resort where there will be no rain at all.

New Year’s Eve is best spent in Marrakesh, because the weather at this time of the year in the city is sunny and most hotels offer guests a bright unforgettable program. It is also important to remember that there is no heating in Morocco in winter, so private riads and hotels may not be very comfortable. But all the best hotels in the country are equipped with air conditioners, and often even heated outdoor pools. nine0003

Spring and autumn in Morocco are the most comfortable for excursions and rich programs. In summer – for relaxing in seaside resorts.

Therefore, to the tourist’s question “When is the season in Morocco?” you can safely answer – “It’s good here all year”, the main thing is to choose the right place and hotel for your trip!

Where does this data come from

Weather data for Arrecife was collected from the MERRA-2 project from NASA, which used a climate model combined with historical data from weather stations around the world to estimate what the conditions were like for every point on the Earth.

For all data based on historical data, we’ve averaged the data from the past 11 years (2010-2020). For example, for the hourly temperature at 10am, we’ve looked at the temperature at 10am on every day in March (e.g., March 1, March 2, etc. in 2010, 2011, etc.) and took the arithmetic mean. We did not smooth the data, so for example, our daily temperature line will have some randomness due to the fact that weather is random in the first place.

We base the humidity comfort level on the dew point, as it determines whether perspiration will evaporate from the skin, thereby cooling the body. Lower dew points feel drier and higher dew points feel more humid. Unlike temperature, which typically varies significantly between night and day, dew point tends to change more slowly, so while the temperature may drop at night, a muggy day is typically followed by a muggy night.

The chance that a given day will be muggy in Arrecife is essentially constant during March, remaining around 1% throughout.

For reference, on August 31, the muggiest day of the year, there are muggy conditions 59% of the time, while on February 1, the least muggy day of the year, there are muggy conditions 0% of the time.

Temperature and Dew Point

There is only a single weather station, Lanzarote Airport, in our network suitable to be used as a proxy for the historical temperature and dew point records of Arrecife.

At a distance of 6 kilometers from Arrecife, closer than our threshold of 150 kilometers, this station is deemed sufficiently nearby to be relied upon as our primary source for temperature and dew point records.

The station records are corrected for the elevation difference between the station and Arrecife according to the International Standard Atmosphere , and by the relative change present in the MERRA-2 satellite-era reanalysis between the two locations.

Please note that the station records themselves may additionally have been back-filled using other nearby stations or the MERRA-2 reanalysis.

Other Data

All data relating to the Sun’s position (e.g., sunrise and sunset) are computed using astronomical formulas from the book, Astronomical Algorithms 2nd Edition , by Jean Meeus.

All other weather data, including cloud cover, precipitation, wind speed and direction, and solar flux, come from NASA’s MERRA-2 Modern-Era Retrospective Analysis . This reanalysis combines a variety of wide-area measurements in a state-of-the-art global meteorological model to reconstruct the hourly history of weather throughout the world on a 50-kilometer grid.

Land Use data comes from the Global Land Cover SHARE database , published by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

Elevation data comes from the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) , published by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Names, locations, and time zones of places and some airports come from the GeoNames Geographical Database .

We draw particular cautious attention to our reliance on the MERRA-2 model-based reconstructions for a number of important data series. While having the tremendous advantages of temporal and spatial completeness, these reconstructions: (1) are based on computer models that may have model-based errors, (2) are coarsely sampled on a 50 km grid and are therefore unable to reconstruct the local variations of many microclimates, and (3) have particular difficulty with the weather in some coastal areas, especially small islands.

We further caution that our travel scores are only as good as the data that underpin them, that weather conditions at any given location and time are unpredictable and variable, and that the definition of the scores reflects a particular set of preferences that may not agree with those of any particular reader.

Wondering where the best weather in Europe can be in March? After the chills in January and February, it’s no surprise that many of us who live in colder climes are desperate to move somewhere warmer. Seasonal depression is real, and if you’ve spent the winter in cold, gray gloom, then some warm March destinations could be the perfect antidote.

We’ve rounded up ten destinations with the best weather in Europe in March so you can plan a sunny holiday and start defrosting after a long winter. Best of all, in March, most of these places are still open, so you can save money by visiting during the spring season! nine0003

1. Seville

The stunning city of Seville has some of the best weather in Europe in March.

For those who travel in Europe, one of the best hot countries in March is definitely Spain. The country enjoys a mild climate all year round, but the areas along the Mediterranean coast are by far the warmest, with the arrival of spring getting even warmer.

The city of Seville in Spain has some of the sunniest and hottest temperatures in Europe, making it a delightful place to be if you want to experience warm weather in March, especially since it can get too hot in the middle of summer. Seville is the capital of Andalusia and is made up of three separate UNESCO World Heritage Sites, so there are plenty of fun things to do here too to keep you entertained while you soak up the sun! nine0003

📍Best Places to Visit in Seville in March

While you’re thawing in Seville, don’t forget to spend some time exploring the Royal Alcazar Palace Complex, a stunning royal palace built for the Christian King Peter of Castile on the site of the Muslim Alcazar or fortress. Not only is this a breathtaking example of Mudéjar architecture in the Iberian Peninsula, it’s also a Game of Thrones filming location for Dorne!

Company Seville Cathedral is also a must see as it is the world’s largest Gothic cathedral, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the bell tower offers incredible views of the city of Seville. nine0003

💼 What to wear in Seville in March

It’s all about layers! You will need long sleeve tops and trousers for when it gets cold at night, as well as a coat. You can also shed some of these layers during the warmest part of the day. Spring showers are also possible, so be sure to bring an umbrella with you. If you don’t mind that the water is a bit cold, you can even pack your swimsuit!

2. Barcelona

Want to know where to go with the best weather in Europe in March? Barcelona should be on your list! Photo credit: Wunav. nine0002 While Seville is located in the southwest of Spain, Barcelona in the southeast is also a great choice if you are looking for the warmest place in Europe in March. Even in winter, it rarely gets cold here, and its location on the Balearic coast makes it a fantastic place to enjoy the combination of city and beaches!

The end of March is the perfect time to visit Barcelona as temperatures are rising but not too hot yet and there aren’t many other tourists on the streets. Therefore, you can save on accommodation while visiting during this warm off-season. nine0003

📍Best Places to Visit in Barcelona in March

Barcelona is one of the most exciting and interesting European cities with iconic sites to explore such as the incredible Sagrada Familia or Casa Batlló, both designed by renowned Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí.

Fantastic (literally!) Park Güell in Barcelona is another quintessential Barcelona experience created by Gaudí and is especially nice to wander around in March when it’s warm but not too hot. Along with sculptures representing Catalan modernism scattered among the greenery, Park Güell also offers some of the best views of Barcelona, especially magical during a warm evening sunset. nine0003

Make sure you also spend some time on the beaches while you are in Barcelona and see all the great attractions we have to offer. For even more inspiration, check out our blog posts on things to do in Barcelona, how to spend just 24 hours in Barcelona, and fun things to do in Barcelona with kids!

💼 What to wear in Barcelona in March

The weather in Barcelona is comparable to Seville in March, so you can also bring T-shirts and shorts along with long sleeves for an evening or on a cool day. The locals can mostly be seen in jeans and a nice top, with a jacket to put on when it gets cold or take it off when it’s sunny and warm. nine0003

3. Lisbon

Bright Lisbon will give you a warm spring experience. Photo credit: Jasonia

Lisbon can enjoy some of the best weather in Europe in March, as it enjoys a subtropical Mediterranean climate with temperatures rising from the start of the month. Like Barcelona, Lisbon also receives far fewer visitors in March, so staying in the city is much cheaper.

📍Best Places to Visit in Lisbon in March

Lisbon has two superb UNESCO World Heritage Sites that you shouldn’t miss, including the Hieronymus Monastery and Torre de Belen. Belém Tower is a 16th-century fortification located on the banks of the Tagus River in Lisbon, perfect for those who want to feel like they’re in the palace of Prince Eric from Disney’s The Little Mermaid. nine0003

For a more magical palace atmosphere, Lisbon is the ideal starting point for a day trip to Sintra’s famous Pena Park and National Palace. It’s only half an hour from the city, and this incredible monastery-turned-palace is surrounded by a labyrinth of gardens that add to the beauty of the colorful castle.

Find more things to do and do in Lisbon here.

💼 What to Wear in Lisbon in March

While it’s always possible to rain in spring (umbrella and coat are a must), it’s usually quite warm in Lisbon in March, so you might even want to pack a few flirty dresses, skirts and shorts. Make sure you have warm clothes and possibly leggings to wear under dresses, especially in the evening. nine0003

4. Marseille

Marseille is the perfect place for a spring break. Photo Credit: Colloquial

While you may not necessarily think of France when you plan to visit some hot countries in March, the country’s south coast is milder than you might expect, and it’s quite a pleasant place in spring. It may not be as warm here as Barcelona or Lisbon, as it’s a bit further north, but it’s still a great place to stroll around without the crowds (and heat) of a full summer.

Marseille is also an exciting city to discover as it is the oldest in France and the second most populated after Paris, although it is often overlooked. Do yourself a favor and book your next spring break in this beautiful port city immediately! nine0003

📍The best places to visit in Marseille in March

One of Marseille’s best and most popular attractions is the Château d’If, a castle located on the island of If, in Marseille’s harbour. This castle was the inspiration for The Count of Monte Cristo and is crowded in the summer, but you can explore without crowds in the spring, and the ferry to get there won’t be too cold in March.

Muzem Museum is located in Marseille and presents exhibitions about the civilizations of Europe and the Mediterranean. It is also located at the entrance to the city’s harbor and is an impressive building that can be seen both from the outside and inside. nine0003

💼 What to wear in Marseille in March

As with many other European March destinations, it can still be chilly in Marseille, but when the weather is nice and sunny, temperatures will rise. Take jeans and a jacket with you, as well as t-shirts and dresses, as well as an umbrella.

5. Sicily

Rich in history and culture – Sicily is a place you can add to your list! Photo credit: michelangelup

The Italian island of Sicily has some of the best weather in Europe in March due to its location in the lower part of the country in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. While it may not yet be warm enough for swimming, this period is still a great time to explore this often overlooked part of Italy. nine0003

Sicily, best known for being home to Mount Etna, the highest currently active volcano in Europe, also offers a rich and unique culture to explore on a trip to this enchanting island.

📍Best Places to Visit in Sicily in March

There are seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Sicily, although the Valley of the Temples may be the most famous, as it is also the largest archaeological site in the world.

History and architecture lovers will be in paradise when visiting Sicily as there are so many preserved ruins to explore, such as the Greek Theater of Syracuse, another UNESCO site that has hosted everything from theatrical performances and religious cults to gladiator fights and public processes! nine0003

For more amazing places in Sicily, visit our complete list of attractions.

💼 What to Wear in Sicily in March

The weather in Sicily can fluctuate in spring, so aim for lightweight items that can be layered or removed as the temperature drops and rises. Some areas of Sicily are a bit upmarket so make sure you have some trendy clothes. Comfortable shoes are also essential if you plan on sightseeing as the ground can be very uneven. nine0003

6. Greece

Whether you are looking for history, beaches or attractions, Greece offers the complete package. Photo credit: DaLu

Some of the best weather in Europe in March can also be found in Greece – especially the further south you go to explore the islands. Crete is usually one of the warmest destinations in March as it is located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea and experiences early spring.

📍The best places to visit in Greece in March

If you want the warmest temperatures, head to Crete which is a stunning island filled with archaeological finds as well as great beaches. If you’ve ever been interested in Greek mythology, you’ll certainly want to explore the Palace of Knossos, which legend says was the home of the Minotaur.
Another fun way to learn about the history and culture of Ancient Greece in Crete is to visit the Minoan World 9D Experience, which is like an amazing multi-sensory film walk through time with bubbles, fog, rain, earthquakes, lightning, wind and snow! nine0003

💼 What to Wear in Greece in March

While some of the Greek islands may start to heat up if you’re going to be exploring Athens and the Greek mainland, you’ll definitely need a few layers in March. Always take comfortable shoes with you, as there are many stairs and cobblestones all over Greece. The further south you drive, the more summer clothes you’ll want to pack, though always bring a jacket and something to keep your feet warm in the evenings.

7. Malta

Explore the sights of Malta while enjoying the warm spring temperatures. Photo credit: kovalenkova

If you’re looking for hot spots in March, you might want to consider Malta, an island nation located in the Mediterranean Sea between Italy and Africa. Malta is an extremely popular summer destination, so if you come here in the spring, you can still enjoy the warm weather without the crowds.

📍The best places to visit in Malta in March

The Blue Lagoon is perhaps the most famous and popular place for visitors to Malta, especially for those who love swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving. Temperatures in March can reach 18 degrees Celsius (64 degrees Fahrenheit), so swimming in the water is no longer too cold.

If that’s still too much for you, consider exploring the capital Valletta on a walking tour to learn all about the fascinating history of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. nine0003

💼 What to wear in Malta in March

Even in spring, you should definitely pack your swimsuit along with something to throw over. It’s a good idea to bring jeans and a jacket to Malta in March, but you’ll also find shorts, skirts, dresses and t-shirts to keep you comfortable when the sun shines. Luckily, Malta is pretty dry in the spring, so you can even get away without an umbrella!

8.

Canary Islands

The Canary Islands provide the best weather in Europe in March. Photo Credit: Balate Dorin

The Spanish Canaries off the coast of Morocco and Western Sahara are a great choice if you want the best weather in Europe in March. The four main islands of Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura offer a variety of things to do in early spring when temperatures are warm enough for sunbathing on gorgeous beaches.

📍Best Places to Visit in the Canary Islands in March

Tenerife can be a bit cooler in March than other islands, but it has some great attractions to explore at this time of year, including the Pyramids of Guimar, to the jungle park AND the water park! nine0003

If it’s not warm enough for you to swim, you may prefer a dolphin watching cruise or a camel ride in the dunes of Gran Canaria.

Be sure to check out all the great things we have to offer in Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Lanzarote!

💼 What to wear in the Canary Islands in March

You don’t need a big coat in March in the Canary Islands, but a light cardigan or cape in the evenings will come in handy. Bring swimwear and walking clothes, as well as comfortable shoes if you plan to go hiking. A pair of jeans and something cooler (like a dress or shorts) will also come in handy on warmer days. nine0003

9. Malaga

Looking for subtropical temperatures? Then head to Malaga. Photo credit: Photo by Unai Huisi

Another top tourist destination in Spain in March is the port city of Malaga, which enjoys a delightfully warm subtropical Mediterranean climate with plenty of sunny spring days. After all, it is located on the Costa del Sol or the Sun Coast and in March temperatures can reach 30 degrees Celsius (or 80 degrees Fahrenheit)! nine0003

Since this is the birthplace of Picasso (and actor Antonio Banderas), there are also many interesting things to explore while you enjoy the warmth.

📍The best places to visit in Malaga in March

The number one attraction in Malaga is the Picasso Museum, where over 200 works by the famous artist can be seen in the restored 16th century palace where he was born!

Other fantastic sights in Malaga include the stunning La Concepcion Botanical-Historical Garden and the quaint Museum of the Imagination. nine0003

💼 What to Wear in Malaga in March

Malaga in March is generally warm, but you’ll still want to wear light clothing so you can easily add or remove things as temperatures fluctuate throughout the day. The locals also don’t wear sandals until summer, so closed-toe shoes are fine. Don’t forget to bring your sunglasses as the sun is bright even when it’s not too bright!

10. Palma de Mallorca

Palma de Mallorca is a great choice for spring sunshine! Photo credit: vernacular

Palma de Mallorca may not be what is the warmest place in Europe in March, but this is definitely one of them! Temperatures in Palma in the spring are comparable to those in Malaga, and because it’s an island, it’s the perfect place to stay if you want to spend most of your time working on your tan. However, there are many interesting activities and places to explore here!

📍The best places to visit in Palma in March

If you can get away from the sun and sand for a while, the Gothic Roman Catholic Cathedral of Santa Maria de Palma is a magnificent building that can be seen both from the outside and if you dare take a closer look at it.

Tenerife, the main tourist destination of the Canary Islands, enjoys a particularly mild climate, often called the island of eternal spring, the climate of Tenerife has temperatures that vary very little during the year, little rain and constant trade winds.

The island is located at the same latitude as the Sahara desert, the climate thanks to the influence of the Atlantic ocean and the influence of trade winds is hot and dry, with mild temperatures throughout the year and with little rain and only in the winter months. Average summer temperatures vary between 29 ° C and 21 ° C, while average winter temperatures vary between 15 ° C and 20 ° C. The average annual temperature of the island is 21.5 ° C.

The rains are nonexistent between May and September, and quite scarce in the other months. The rainiest months are December, January and February. The annual average rainfall in the city of Santa Cruz, located along the east coast in the northern part of the island, is only 225 mm. The west coast of the island is much rainier, in particular the rainiest place on Tenerife is located along the slopes of the La Orotava mountain range. In Santa Cruz de Tenerife there are only 29 rainy days per year. The daylight hours are 2,851 per year.

Due to the orographic conformation of Tenerife, and the presence of high mountains, during the winter snow is always present on the top of the Teide volcano.

The sea water temperature varies between 19 ° C in January and 23 ° C in September and October. In Tenerife it is possible to swim between March and November, however the water is never too hot.

Where does this data come from

Weather data for Playa de Jandia was collected from the MERRA-2 project from NASA, which used a climate model combined with historical data from weather stations around the world to estimate what the conditions were like for every point on the Earth.

“But let’s remember that with comets, like with bees, you can never know anything.”

It has already been reported that comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) was discovered in March last year by California astronomers, calculating that it circles the Sun in 50,000 years. This means that the last time a comet flew over the Earth during the Stone Age.

Images of comet C/2022 E3 show a faint green glow thought to be due to the presence of diatomic carbon in the comet. The molecule emits green light, which reacts to the ultraviolet rays of sunlight.

Astronomers have taken spectacular pictures of the comet with telescopes. But recently its glow has become bright enough to be visible to the naked eye, at least in very dark rural areas with minimal light pollution.

From mid-January, the comet could be detected with a telescope or binoculars. It is visible in the Northern Hemisphere when the sky darkens unless it is obscured by clouds.
