The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated weather warnings for adverse sea conditions. The warning affects Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, La Palma and El Hierro.

On March 13, the AEMET weather warning will also cover northern Tenerife and Gran Canaria.

The forecast shows that strong northwest winds will bring very strong gusts on Monday and Tuesday.

The more mountainous islands will have rainfall throughout the week, however, scientists are reportedly worried about the lack of rainfall on the islands.

Lanzarote and Fuerteventura have had 75 percent less rain than usual according to scientists.

Other areas of Spain including tourist hotspots Ibiza and Mallorca, have experienced a wet winter with heavier rainfall than usual.

The Costa del Sol is likely to experience rainfall in the coming week as well after a period of drought.

The rainfall in areas such as Malaga and Granada could be very heavy and flood warnings have been issued for some areas.

The director of Aemet said: “It will help to ease the drought situation, but will not be enough to resolve it.

The Royal Welsh regiment was led through the streets of Cardiff by the Goat Major as the Welsh capital proclaimed King Charles III on Sunday, 11 September.

Thousands turned out to watch as the procession marched from City Hall to the castle, where the UK’s new monarch was proclaimed in a ceremony.

Royal Welsh have adopted goats as their mascots since the 1770s.

Proclamations were also read in the devolved parliaments in Northern Ireland and Scotland on Sunday.

      Climate in Spain

Spain is located in the south of Europe, occupies the Iberian Peninsula and several groups of islands, the Canary Islands in the Atlantic and the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean. As in all countries located in the northern hemisphere, summer in Spain lasts from June to August, winter – from December to February. The peak of the beach holiday season and the maximum flow of tourists to the resorts of the country falls at the end of summer, it is by August that the coastal waters of the Mediterranean Sea are warmed up by the sun to a pleasant +26 degrees. Although in winter the waters in the south-east of Spain cool down only to + 13 … 15 degrees, not lower.

The climate of the country is very warm, has all the signs of a Mediterranean climate in the south and east of the country. The winter is short, wet, and summer heat comes by April. Humidity during the year does not exceed 60%, even in the cold season. It is even warmer in the Canary Islands, it is quite comfortable here in summer, and winter pleases with air temperatures from +16 to +20 degrees Celsius. In the north of Spain, the influence of the Atlantic Ocean is so strong that the weather conditions in this area during the year are noticeably different from other areas: mild and warm winters with plenty of rain turn into not hot summers, there is rarely summer heat, typical for the south. The air humidity in the north and east is the highest, about 80%, due to the influence of moist air masses coming from the ocean. Another region of the country with climatic conditions different from neighboring regions is located in the center. The weather in central Spain corresponds to the continental climate: the amplitude of day and night temperatures is large, the summer on the mountain plateau is hot and dry, and the winter is cold.

Dependence of weather conditions on relief

The climate in Spain is highly dependent on relief. The territory of Spain is quite extensive, there are high mountains, and plains, and coastal regions, separated from the mainland by highlands.

For example, a relatively similar relief pattern in the north and west of the country provided similar climatic conditions in these two regions. Under the influence of the mountains, which increase as you move deeper into the peninsula and do not let the wet masses of the Atlantic to the central regions, the coastal plain is open to oceanic air currents. They pour out all their moisture here throughout the year. Summer is characterized by moderate temperatures, not exceeding +25 degrees, and in the winter months the average daily temperature is +11 … +15 degrees.

In the central regions of Spain separated from the ocean by mountains, the weather during the year has most of the characteristics of a continental climate. There are very noticeable transitions from winter to summer here, from June to August rather high temperatures reign, often reaching + 35 degrees and above. Winters are cold, in some regions the air cools down to +7 degrees and below, frosts and heavy snowfalls are not uncommon, especially in the mountains. During the winter months, numerous ski resorts open up in the mountainous areas, offering modern ski slopes for skiers and snowboarders. Resting in the mountains in winter is quite comfortable, there are no severe frosts, and thick snow cover provides tourists with an unforgettable vacation. It is because of the mountain ranges and uplands in the central part of the country that the temperature amplitude during the day and at night is very noticeable and averages 10-15 degrees.

In the coastal areas of the Mediterranean Sea in the south and east of the country, summers are slightly cooler than in the center. Of course, in some years, summer temperatures can rise to +38 degrees, when hot air masses from the African continent rise to the coast of Spain. But on average, the thermometer fixes +28 degrees. Winter in these regions is humid and relatively warm, from +15 to +18 degrees.

The weather in the Mediterranean Spanish islands of Ibiza, Menorca and Mallorca is similar to the climate of southern Spain, warm and short winters, inconspicuous off-seasons and long, hot summers with little rainfall. In the Canary Islands, the air temperature in summer differs by only 8-10 degrees from the winter temperature and is +28 degrees. The cool masses of the Atlantic Ocean make the summer months incredibly comfortable for relaxation, without the sweltering heat and heat.

The whole territory of Spain can be conditionally divided into three parts according to the peculiarities of its Mediterranean in the south of the country, continental in its central parts and Atlantic in the north-west of the country. In addition, the alpine character of the climate in the region of the Pyrenees, the semi-arid climate of Murcia, and the subtropical climate of the Canary Islands should be specially highlighted. Accordingly, the temperature in Spain by months will depend on which territory is in question.

      Atlantic climate: Galicia

The Atlantic climate is characteristic of the north and especially the northwest of Spain. This territory is often called “green Spain” and includes part of the Pyrenees and the territory of Galicia.

In this part of Spain, the monthly temperatures are such that the winters are relatively mild and the summers are hot. Precipitation is evenly distributed throughout the year and falls in large quantities. The climate of the northwest of the country along the Atlantic coast is strongly influenced by the Gulf Stream. The weather here is warm, humid and cloudy almost all year round. In autumn, this part of Spain receives the most precipitation, while summer is relatively sunny and characterized by low temperatures. Temperature differences during the day and at night are small.

The weather of Galicia is a prime example of the Atlantic climate in Spain. The average summer temperature here ranges from +20 °C to +25 °C. At the beginning of summer it is not so hot. So, in this part of Spain the weather in June is warm, the average temperature is +16 … +18 °C. In winter, these figures fall to +10 … +12 ° C, very rarely the thermometer in winter drops below 0 ° C.

The rainy season in Galicia covers autumn, spring and winter. When moving from the northwest to the southeast of the Atlantic climate zone, the number of days a year when it rains decreases from 150 to 110. Therefore, the best time to visit the northwest of Spain is summer, the weather from June to August is quite sunny and warm.

      Continental climate: Madrid

This type of climate is typical for most of the central territory of Spain, which is located on the central plateau and in the valley of the Ebro River. The main features of the continental climate in this region are as follows:

      • in this part of Spain, temperatures vary by month, and also during the day and night, have strong differences;
      • irregular precipitation, the average values of which vary between 400 – 500 mm per year.

Northern central Spain is characterized by two periods of rain: from April to June and from October to November. In south-central Spain, in turn, heavy rains come in autumn, as well as in spring, in March. Here summers are always hot and dry, while winters are cold and windy. Frosts often occur in winter, and it snows in mountainous areas. In this part of Spain, the air temperature varies greatly from month to month, from +2 °C in January and February to +32 °C in July and August. Peak summer temperatures often occur here, which reach +40 °C, while at night the temperature drops to +10 °C.

      Mediterranean climate

Spain’s Mediterranean climate stretches along the entire southern coast of the country, from the Pyrenees to Andalusia. A feature of this type of climate is mild winters, long and hot summers, pleasing landscapes in spring and rainy autumn.

This part of Spain is strongly influenced by the humid Mediterranean winds and the dry and hot winds from northern Africa. All this leads to smaller annual temperature drops. So, on the Mediterranean coast, the average temperature in Spain in summer is +22 … +27 °C. Moreover, in the interior of the country at this time the air warms up to +29… +31 °C. In this part of Spain, the average temperature in winter is between +10 … +13 °C, and in the interior it is several degrees lower.

      The climate of Andalusia

Andalusia is one of the hottest regions not only in Spain, but throughout Europe. Thus, the maximum temperatures here were recorded in the Guadalquivir river basin in Cordoba and Seville, they amounted to +46.6 °C. In the mountainous regions of Andalusia, in turn, the lowest temperatures of the entire southern part of the Iberian Peninsula were recorded, in January 2005, for example, -21 ° C in the city of Santiago de Espada, province of Jaen.

Andalusia has a mild Mediterranean climate with hot and dry summers and mild winters with irregular rainfall. If we talk about the temperature by months for Spain, then in this part of the country in July and August they are the highest and often reach +40 ° C. Strong annual temperature fluctuations are observed away from the sea, where summers are very hot and winters are cold. When moving from west to east through the territory of Andalusia, the climate becomes more arid. The best time to visit Andalusia is from March to June or from mid-September to November.

This name refers to the coastal area, which begins in the city of Blanes and ends at the border with France at Portbou. The length of the Costa Brava is 214 kilometers. The coast is located in the regions of Upper Ampurdan, Lower Ampurdan and La Selva, which are located in the Catalan province of Girona.

Thanks to the mild Mediterranean climate, when winters are not cold and summers are characterized by relatively low temperatures, the famous resorts of Spain are located in the Costa Brava, for example, Lloret de Mar, Tossa de Mar, Roses, Playa de Aro, Cadaqués and others. The average annual temperature here ranges from +14 °C to +20 °C. The hottest weather is in July and August, the average temperatures here are +25 … +28 ° C, it often rains at the end of autumn, and the winter months are quite cool.

If we talk about the water temperature by months in the resorts of Spain in the Costa Brava, it should be noted that from July to September it is above +24 °C, and in June and October the water warms up to +21 °C. During the rest of the year, the water in the sea is colder.

      Canary Islands

The climate here is subtropical, characterized by minimal annual temperature changes. Thus, the maximum average temperatures here are +20 … +30 °C, while the minimum average temperatures range between +15 °C and +21 °C. Therefore, the Canary Islands are called the islands of “Eternal Spring”.

Many magnificent resorts in Spain are located on the Canary Islands, for example, the English beach, the port of Carmen, Adeje, Corralejo and others. On these islands of Spain, the weather by months and the water temperature allow you to come here to relax at any time of the year, because in January the water here has a temperature of +18 … +19 ° C, and by July it warms up to +22 … +23 ° C.

      Balearic Islands

Unlike the Canary Islands, which are located near the African continent in the Atlantic Ocean, the Balearic Islands are located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea and enjoy a relatively mild climate throughout the year. It often rains here in October and November, and the rest of the time the weather is quite clear.

It is recommended to visit the Balearic Islands for tourism purposes from May-June to October, because on these islands of Spain the weather in June allows the sea to warm up to +19 °C, and this temperature lasts until mid-autumn. The famous resorts in the Balearic Islands are the city of Ibiza, Playa de Palma, San Antonio, the port of Pollensa.

When is the best time to visit Spain?

If we analyze all the information about the weather in Spain by months and the temperature of the water on its beaches, we can say that spring and autumn are the most favorable times to visit the country. If you go to Spain in the summer, especially in the hottest months of July and August, then it is better to limit yourself to its northern part, where the weather is warm.

Spring is the perfect time to travel to the central part of the country, to Andalusia, the Mediterranean coast and the Balearic Islands. The first half of autumn is the most favorable time of the year to visit the whole country, because the weather in autumn in Spain is wonderful, with a lot of warm sunny days and a warm sea.

      October

In October, autumn comes to Spain, and all the resorts in the country are gradually empty. Which, of course, cannot be said about the Canary Islands, where rest is still in full swing. The average daily temperature on the mainland is kept at around +22°C, and at night it already drops noticeably. In coastal areas it is not so warm anymore (up to +15°C). The weather in the northern part of the country is influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. There are always warm summers, and winters are mild and wet. Winter minimum temperature +6. .+8°C, maximum +12..+14°C, and summer minimum +12..+15°C, and maximum temperature +20..+24°C.

The southeast coast is influenced by the Mediterranean climate. Summers are hot and fairly dry, while winters are short and mild. In winter, the minimum temperature is +5..+8°C, the average maximum is +12..+17°C. In the period from June to September, the average minimum temperature is +16..+21°C, and the average maximum temperature is +25..+30°C.

A sharply continental climate prevails on the central plateau. It is cold in winter and hot in summer. The amount of precipitation is negligible. In winter, the minimum temperature is +1..+3°C, and the maximum is +8..+11°C. In summer, the minimum temperature is +14+18)°C, and the maximum reaches +30°C.

The best season for recreation is the period from June to October.

The water temperature in Spain on the continental part from June to mid-October ranges from 20 to 25 degrees. Between November and May, the temperature is quite low – about 15 degrees, but tourists can spend their holidays in Spain at this time of the year in the Canary Islands, where the swimming season is all year round. The water temperature here actually never drops below 18 degrees.

      Monthly weather in Spain

The geography of mainland Spain is such that three climatic zones can be distinguished here.
The first is the northern regions on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, which, in fact, determines the climate of this region. Humid, rather warm winters and moderately hot summers are typical for this area.
The central part of Spain is the second region in which there are quite cold (temperatures around zero degrees) winters and hot dry summers.
The southeastern regions on the Mediterranean coast make up the third region where the climate is typically subtropical, with hot summers and warm winters.
The climate on the islands of Menorca, Mallorca and Ibiza is very similar to the climate of its Mediterranean coast: winters are warm, summers are hot and dry. But the Canary Islands can boast of consistently warm weather throughout the year, there is practically no sweltering heat or excessive coolness.

      January
is the coldest month on the whole of mainland Spain, the average daytime temperature on the coast is around +10 ° C, cold winds often blow, which brings rather unpleasant cold rain. The water temperature in the sea is about +14 °C, so there is no question of any sea bathing. However, the weather in the Canary Islands even at this time of the year indulges beach lovers with warm (about +19°C) with water and even warmer (about +22 °C) air. In the depths of the mainland of the country, the temperature at this time often drops to zero, the weather is not at all kind.

      February
in the Spanish Mediterranean differs little from January, the water temperature is the same, the air maybe only slightly warmer, hinting at an early spring. However, in Alicante, for example, it is a couple of degrees warmer than in Barcelona. The Canary Islands continue to delight tourists seeking warmth and sunny weather.

      March
is characterized by a clear stable increase in air temperature: it warms up to +16…+18 °C on average. The water in the sea becomes noticeably warmer – + 15 … + 16 ° С, its typical March temperature. The weather is about the same at this time of the year in the Balearic Islands. Spain is preparing for the start of the beach season, which is so attractive here.

      April
gives everyone who is yearning for warmth, the weather, in which it is hardly possible to swim in the sea (its temperature is +16 … +17 ° С), but it is quite possible to take sunbaths, lying on the beach in a comfortable sun lounger, inhaling the sea air and listening to the waves whisper about the coming summer, a fresh tan and the pleasures of a beach holiday: the air temperature, typical for April, is around +20 ° C.

      May
marks the beginning of the beach season. The number of tourists on the coast is noticeably increasing, cafes and restaurants are launching a summer program, the sun is shining in full force, warming the air up to +22…24 °С, and the water near the coast of Spain up to +17…+18 °С. Already not a few dare to swim, and the number of sunbathers on the beach convincingly indicates that the beach season has begun. The weather throughout Spain is such that this is the best time to travel around the country and see its many attractions. Only rains can interfere, the amount of which is impossible to predict.
It should be noted that throughout the spring the air temperature in the Canary Islands continues to be as comfortable as it was in the winter months.

      June
in Spain, the month is quite hot, but not exhaustingly sultry. The air temperature is kept in the region of +25 … 26 ° C, and the water warms up to an average of +22 ° C. This is the best month for sea holidays with small children: acclimatization in such weather is easy, and the sun is not yet burning, so the likelihood of sunburn and heat stroke is very small.

      July
is a hot month, sometimes too hot, the air temperature in the region of +30°C is not uncommon, the water in the sea warms up to +24 . .. +25 °C, that is, it reaches its maximum temperatures. The number of vacationers on the beaches of Spain also reaches its maximum values, because the season of holidays and vacations begins all over Europe.

      August
is very similar to July: it is hot, the air temperature reaches +30 ° C, and the water temperature is kept at maximum values, then it will be colder. The resort towns are filled with crowds of tourists, they enjoy the favorable climate and generous nature of Spain.

      September
brings a decrease in the temperature of both water and air. Despite the fact that the sun is still hot, it warms the air only up to +25 ° C, and the water in the sea begins to cool. deo is coming to autumn, but the holiday season is not over either on the ocean or on the Mediterranean coast.

      October
brings coolness and makes you remember that winter is coming soon. It is not cold yet, the daytime temperature still slightly exceeds +20 ° C, but vacationers are gradually leaving the resort towns, it is becoming quieter, calmer and more boring. But for such weather, it is reasonable to plan sightseeing, of which there are many in Spain.

      November
      – autumn month, with rains, with a cool wind. For northerners, the average daytime temperature in September – +16 … +17 ° С – will seem quite warm, but it does not in any way favor a beach holiday. Perhaps, in the Canary Islands, where it is still warm and comfortable, where the mild summer continues all year round.

      December
brings with it cold rains and wind, the air temperature barely reaches +10…+12 °С, and farther from the sea it is even lower: winter… Spain is getting ready for Christmas and lives with memories of summer. On the other hand, December is the beginning of the ski season in the country, so there will be no time to indulge in sad thoughts about summer for a long time.

Air temperature in Spain. The climate of Spain. Forecast for each month

      All countries
      / Spain
      / Climate of Spain

The climate of Spain is subtropical Mediterranean. Spain is one of the warmest countries in Western Europe, and certainly one of the sunniest. The number of sunny days in Spain is more than 280 per year.

Due to the great length of Spain from north to south and because of the extensive mountain system, the climate varies greatly in different parts of the country. Few people know that mountains occupy 90% of the total territory of Spain –
      after Switzerland

, Spain is the highest mountainous country in Europe. Although the Iberian Peninsula is almost surrounded by water on all sides, the country’s climate is determined not so much by the sea and ocean as by the mountains.

      Cheap flights to Barcelona

In the northwest of Spain, the climate is mild and humid, with low temperature fluctuations throughout the year and high rainfall. Constant winds blow from the Atlantic, bringing a lot of moisture, mainly in winter, and at this time foggy and cloudy weather prevails with drizzling rain, but almost without frost and snow. In summer it is hot and humid here.

On the plateau of Old and New Castile, due to its high altitude, there are sharp fluctuations in temperature with seasons. Here there are rather cold winters with frosts and strong, harsh winds, and summers are very hot and dry. The capital of Spain
Madrid, located in the heart of the Iberian Peninsula, freezes from the cold during the winter months and “roasts” in the sun in the summer.

On the Mediterranean coast, as well as on the islands of Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza, the climate is warm and mild. Temperatures rarely drop below 0°C in winter, while the rest of Europe is coping with snow and frost, and in summer it is very hot, sometimes +40°C and above, but this heat is easier to bear due to sea breezes.

Well, the Canary Islands, far from Spain, are warm and sunny all year round. Winter is warm enough
+20 – +25°C, and very hot in summer.

Winter in Spain starts in early December and lasts until March. The Spanish winter is mild and warm, sometimes rainy, in most of the country. At the beginning of winter it is still relatively warm, in Madrid the average daily air temperature is + 9 ° C, but at night it is much cooler –
around +2°C. Barcelona boasts a more pleasant climate – here in December, on average, the daytime temperature reaches +14 – +17 ° C, although there is simply no question of any beach holiday. Despite this, December in Spain is a pleasant month for walking and traveling, as it is quite warm and sunny everywhere. In the second half of December, the temperature slowly but surely declines in the mountains of Spain, at which time the ski season opens. In the highlands, frosts and heavy snowfalls are not uncommon in winter.

But in the Canary Islands – winter time, no doubt, the season of cold snaps, but there can be no talk of the usual winter in our understanding. During the daytime, the average air temperature in the Canary Islands rarely drops below +20°C, but in the evening it becomes much cooler.

However, the winter months in Spain bring many surprises. The weather can be quite unpredictable, the bright sun will suddenly be replaced by a strong wind, or it will rain. The warmest place in continental Spain in January will be in the south of the country: in Malaga, the average daily temperature in January is + 17 ° C, and at night –
      +7 °C. It’s cooler in the A Coruña area –
here during the day about + 12 ° C, and at night –
+6°C. It will be even colder in the central part of the country, for example, in Madrid, the average temperature during the day is –
      +10°C, and at night –
      around +3°C.

The Canary Islands even in January pamper tourists with good weather. During the day here, on average, +22°C, and the most daring can even swim, as the water in the Atlantic Ocean will be about +19°C. Only clouds or strong winds can spoil the paradise idyll, as cyclones pass through the Canary archipelago at this time, and it can rain for several days.

The last winter month – February, gives the most unpredictable weather. The sun is shining now, it will rain in an hour, and tomorrow morning expect snow. Often such climatic changes are accompanied by strong gusty cold winds. And if on the southern coast of Spain in February it is already warm in spring, the average temperature during the day is + 18 ° C, then in the north-west of the country the daily temperature is about + 13 ° C, and in the central part it is about + 11 ° C at all.

Only the Canary Islands can bring real warmth in Spain in February. Here, the February air warms up to +22°C, the water in the Atlantic also gets warmer, and already reaches +20°C. It rains in February in the Canary Islands, but they are not prolonged.

Spring in Spain starts at the beginning of March, so you don’t have to wait long. The Spanish spring is a warm sunny and very romantic time. At the beginning of spring in the north of Spain, the rainy season begins, when the greatest amount of precipitation falls. But, in general, the air temperature everywhere is steadily rising upwards, and is already much warmer than in February. In the Malaga area, the average daily temperature in March is +19°C, and night –
+9°C. Also, it is quite warm in A Coruña, where the daytime temperature is about +13°C, and the nighttime temperature is also +9°C. It warms up well in early spring and the central part of Spain, in Madrid and throughout the central part, the average temperature during the day is –
      +16°C, at night –
      +9°C.

In April it gets even hotter in Spain, this is a real spring month, with a riot of colors and pleasant aromas – everything begins to bloom! The rains in April become less and less intense. The air temperature is steadily rising and reaches +21°C in the daytime in Malaga, +14°C in A Coruña and +18°C in Madrid. In mid-April, in the southern regions of Spain and the Balearic Islands – Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza, the holiday season begins, because the sea water temperature approaches + 20 ° C, but it’s too early to swim on the east coast of Spain, in the Barcelona area the water is still cool.

A real beach holiday in April awaits the guests of Spain in the Canary Islands. Spring here is amazing, the average daily air temperature is kept at around +25°C, and the water in the ocean is warmed up to +22°C. The proximity of the cold ocean current noticeably softens the heat inherent in this region. Precipitation in April in the Canary Islands is possible, but they are short-lived.

Summer in Spain begins in early May and lasts quite a long time – until early October. In general, the Spanish summer can be described as very hot and dry. Sometimes, when hot air masses from tropical Africa reach the coast of Spain, the temperature rises to +37 – +40°C
and above, and the territory of the country, becomes like a hot frying pan.

May will please with warm days, sunny, but still relatively not hot weather. The sun is shining brighter, and in the second half of May, throughout Spain, real summer comes. It will be very warm in the south of Spain, near the city of Malaga, the average daytime temperature in May will be + 24 ° C, and at night –
+13°C. On the northwest coast in A Coruña, the May day temperature will be around +18°C, dropping to +11°C at night. It will also be warm in Madrid – during the day + 20 ° C, at night –
+11°C. In May, the beach season begins on the east coast of Spain – sea water in the Barcelona area is warmed up to +19- +20°C.

In June the weather in Spain is more stable than in May. A wonderful month for a beach holiday, moderately hot and dry, the water in the Mediterranean Sea is warmed up to +22°C. This is the best month for a beach holiday with young children, and the sun is not hot yet, so the chances of sunburn and heatstroke are very low. You can spend days on end, lying on a sun lounger, comfortably sitting on the shore. The idyllic picture of relaxation is complemented by vineyards blooming in June, of which there are a huge number in Spain. The southern part of Spain will be the hottest, in the Malaga region, the average daytime temperature in June is + 27 ° C, and at night –
+17°C. In the central part of Spain, in particular, in Madrid, it is also hot in June, the average temperature during the day is + 27 ° C, at night –
around +15°C. The coolest place will be on the Atlantic coast of Spain, in La Coruña the daytime temperature averages around +22°C, dropping to +13°C at night.

In June, you can have a great rest in the Canary Islands, because here, at this time, there is little rain, and the dry and hot wind from the Sahara, along with the south trade wind, balancing each other, do not spoil the picture. The average daily temperature in Tenerife in June is +25°C, and the water in the ocean reaches +23°C.

The weather in July in Spain is very hot and dry, there are practically no clouds in the sky, although sometimes it can rain in the north, but very rarely. It does not rain inside the country and in the south, the weather does not present unpleasant surprises to residents and tourists. Summer is in full swing! In July, there are a lot of tourists in Spain, the country’s beaches are literally “teeming” with vacationers. The water in the Mediterranean Sea warms up to +24°C, so water procedures bring unprecedented pleasure.

It is hot in July throughout the country, the average daily air temperature varies from +28°C to +32°C, but the real heat reigns in the south of Spain. In Seville –
one of the hottest cities in Europe, the average temperature in July during the day is +35°C! At night it is somewhat cooler, but still quite hot: around +22 – +25°C.

The weather in Spain in August is really hot, in addition, this month is very stuffy –
it is very difficult to work in cities, therefore, even the Spaniards themselves tend to go on vacation this month, to the sea. As a result, in August there are a lot of vacationers in Spain, prices are very high, and places must be booked everywhere in advance. In the north of Spain in August, the weather is a little changeable, sometimes the sky is overcast and it rains, there are real showers. But in central and southern Spain, you don’t have to wait for rain – it’s very hot here, and there is not a cloud in the sky.

The average daily air temperature in August in Spain ranges from +30°C to +35°C. Sometimes a cool pleasant breeze blows from the sea. On the coast, you can refresh yourself by swimming, because the water in August is ideal for swimming and diving, and its temperature is + 25 – + 26°C! During short nights the heat subsides and the temperature is about +20 – +26°C.

September in Spain is such a warm and comfortable month that it can safely be considered a summer period. At this time in Spain, the weather is always warm and sunny, the heat gradually recedes, the vacation season ends, the new school year begins. And the weather, also, continues to please, there are no more noisy crowds of tourists, a quiet, calm, pleasant time. Average daily temperatures in September stay at +25 – +30°C, dropping to +20 – +22°C at night.

The water in the Mediterranean Sea warmed up during the summer months, and now its temperature is not lower than +25°C, so swimming will be magical. There is very little rain in the south of the country, and if they do pass, they quickly end, only pleasantly refreshing the earth. But the central and eastern parts of the country in September are well supplied with precipitation, although, in general, beach holidays are also possible here. Unpleasant weather surprises can overshadow a holiday in Spain at the end of September. Storms occur near the coast when heavy winds do not allow you to comfortably walk along the streets of cities.

Cheap hotels in Lloret de Mar

Autumn in Spain starts in early October and lasts 2 months, until December. October in most of Spain
this is the closing of the season, the air temperature drops to +20 – +25°C, on average, across the country. At night it becomes even cooler, especially near coastal areas, the air cools down to +15°C. The water in the Mediterranean is still quite warm, retaining the energy accumulated over the summer, in October its temperature is about +20 – +22°C. But, you can swim comfortably only in the south of the country, and even then not always, since in October it often rains everywhere in Spain, and outright storms with heavy winds can occur on the coasts.

A good beach holiday in October is possible in the Canary Islands. Here, the average daily air temperature is kept at around + 26 ° C, and the water in the Atlantic –
+23 – +24°C, God himself ordered to swim in October. Rains on the islands in October are possible, but unlikely, in any case, the rest here will be more comfortable than in the continental part of the country.

In November, the picture completely changes, the weather this month is extremely unstable, the sky is overcast, it often rains, accompanied by strong gusty winds, in general, this month is not for rest. There are, on average, no more than 10 sunny days in November. The average daily air temperature is +13 – +16°C, and the nighttime temperature often drops to +6°C. A little warmer in Malaga, Alicante, Ceuta and some other cities in the south of the country –
Here the air warms up to +20°C during the day. The water of the Mediterranean Sea in November is still relatively warm, its temperature is +19°C, however, due to the lack of sun, no one bathes.

November is not a hindrance for a beach holiday in the Canary Islands, here, as before, it is warm and comfortable, mild summer continues all year round. Compared to October, air and water temperatures slightly decrease, and daylight hours noticeably decrease, but, in general, it is also comfortable to relax, as in October. Moreover, the smallest average annual temperature range on the planet is recorded here, which means that the change of seasons in the Canary Islands is practically not noticeable.

Precipitation in Spain is relatively low and distributed very unevenly. More than half of the territory of Spain receives less than 500 mm of precipitation annually, and only about 20% – more than 1,000 mm. It is customary to single out “wet” and “dry” Spain. The border between them runs along the Galician massif and the Cantabrian mountains. Annual precipitation in “wet” Spain averages 900 mm, in the “dry” part of the country, as a rule, does not exceed 500 mm. For example, the average annual rainfall in the northwest of the country and on the western slopes of the Pyrenees reaches 1,600 mm or more, while on the Aragonese plateau and in La Mancha it is less than 250 mm. The Andalusian lowland, open to western winds carrying moisture from the Atlantic Ocean, is sufficiently supplied with precipitation, for example, in Seville, the average annual precipitation is slightly more than 500 mm. The capital of Spain
Madrid has an average annual rainfall of 410 mm.

Little rainfall in the Canary Islands –
from 250 to 400 mm per year. Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and the southern regions of Gran Canaria and Tenerife are arid – no more than 200 mm per year falls here, but much more rainfall in the mountains. The rains here are very heavy, but short-lived, and are often accompanied by thunderstorms.

      When to go to Spain.
Spain is so multifaceted that one can easily say that you will be welcome here all year round and you will surely find something to spend your time. However, if you clearly know the purpose of your visit to the country, it would be nice to decide in advance on the season.

So, Spain, first of all, it’s huge wide beaches, and crazy opportunities for a beach holiday. You can swim and sunbathe in Spain from May until October. May and September attract with moderate prices and the absence of crowds of frantic tourists. But July and August are the peak months for a beach holiday – at this time the hottest weather sets in, this is the height of the holiday season and school holidays, therefore, there are a lot of vacationers here, and the prices for everything are crazy.

In the Canary Islands the climate is milder, the beach season here is possible all year round, but, nevertheless, it is most pleasant in the warm season – from April to November. The air temperature and water in the Atlantic Ocean warm up to quite comfortable temperatures. A beach holiday is also possible here in the winter – however, tourists are waiting for lower air temperatures and cool water, and besides, a few rainy days can spoil the vacation. But, in general, it is comfortable to relax in the Canary Islands, both in winter and in summer.

Spain has an incredible number of attractions. Palaces, ancient castles, incredible nature, all this is intertwined into an endless mosaic, where incredible discoveries await you at every step. And if you are not a fan of roasting in the sun, but are ready for new adventures, then it’s time to go on a sightseeing tour of Spain! For this, it is better to choose cool sunny months – March, April or October. Cool weather will allow you to wander through the streets of old cities, or explore ancient fortresses.

If you decide to visit the country on a city tour, or go for a few days or a week to Barcelona, Madrid, or Seville, you can safely come here in the winter months. There are not so many tourists at this time, and housing prices are more than acceptable.

Few people know that there are real ski resorts in the high mountains of Spain. This is where the peak of the winter season is! The main part of the ski resorts is located in the Pyrenees, near the border with France
. As a rule, in such well-known resorts as Baquera-Beret and La Molina, the ski season begins in mid-December and ends in mid-late March.

Spain is beautiful at any time of the year, you just need to decide what kind of holiday you want from this country. And she will gladly show you all her facets, all the best, and certainly no autumn rain will prevent you from admiring her beauty …

      Tours to Spain

      deals of the day

Choosing when to go on vacation, we always mentally imagine the countries that we can visit. After “closure”
beach holidays in and, there are still many interesting destinations. One of them is Spain. While not the most economical option, it is in demand among Russians this year.

Can be called year-round. For beach lovers, it will open from May to November, but in the Caribbean, you can continue swimming for much longer. Excursion routes will be comfortable in the spring-autumn period, and ski resorts will invite amateur athletes from December to April.

The climate in Spain varies from region to region. The coldest is on the Costa Brava. This is the northernmost region of Spain. On the border with France in the mountains of Sierra Leone there are ski slopes. However, they are also in the south, not far from the city of Granada. The warmest in the Canary Islands. You can sunbathe there all year round. The more daring can even swim in January.

Now let’s talk about several popular resort cities located in different parts of the coast:

      Barcelona

The coldest place of the presented. The swimming season here starts later than everyone else – in June, and ends earlier, in late September – early October. There are much more sunny days than in the European part of Russia, and you can enjoy the sun here even in winter.

From here it is easiest to get to the ski resorts and warm sea coasts. From Barcelona there are high-speed trains throughout Spain.

The most uncomfortable and windy weather begins in February and ends in April, giving way to warm air – the precursor of the summer heat. The maximum summer temperature is +28. Mountains and forests in the north of the region contribute to this. The sea also does not differ in increased warmth – + 23-24. In the Canary Islands, even in winter, its temperature is about +20.

      Alicante

This city is much south of Barcelona and the weather is a couple of degrees warmer. However, the beach season in Alicante starts only 1-2 weeks earlier. Winter is very comfortable and sunny, especially in December and January. The daily temperature does not drop below 15 degrees Celsius, and the sea temperature is below 13.

It rains most often in October and November, but they are not too much. You can still swim during this time.

      March-April also “please”
precipitation. In combination with coastal winds, this does not create a comfortable environment in the coastal zone. But this is an ideal time for excursions around the country. In summer +30 and warm sea up to +26 will delight parents with children and lovers of bathing in “fresh milk”
      .

      Malaga

The capital of Andalusia pleases with hot sun and cool sea. Even in August, the sea here is 2-3 degrees colder than in Alicante. The reason for this is the proximity to the Atlantic ocean currents. Which even through the narrow Strait of Gibraltar fall into this part of the Mediterranean Sea.

In winter, the situation is reversed. The sea is warmer than in the north and the air remains warm up to +18.

This region is considered one of the best in Spain for sightseeing holidays. But it is not very suitable for beach activities and families with children because of the cool sea. However, the prices here are quite high.

      Cadiz

Cadiz is a completely different coast – the Atlantic. There are wide beaches, clean sand. The swimming season opens in May and ends in October. High ocean waves allow you to practice various sports. In a long strip of surf, even the smallest will be comfortable. Due to the strong influence of the ocean, the climate is more even.

It rains more than in the Mediterranean. Cadiz is one of the oldest European cities, so it is popular not only for its beaches. In winter, it will be very pleasant to be here for an educational purpose or for those who just want to breathe in the ocean air.

More than 20 sunny days per month, this is an additional comfort factor. After all, the northerners miss the sun so much, especially in the cold and gloomy autumn.

What they offer (temperature data given day/night/sea/number of sunny days):

The Balearic Islands have a wonderful temperate Mediterranean climate. Proximity to African shores makes it warmer than on the mainland. The sea keeps the temperature from rising too much in summer and falling too low in winter.

The beach season here lasts a little longer, until November. The hot summer is cooled by the island breeze, so it is very comfortable to be here. There is more rainfall than in mainland resorts.

The rainiest months are November and February. The sun will not come out from behind the clouds every day, but the air temperature + 15-20 completely compensates for this shortcoming.

All Canary Islands of volcanic origin. The mountain range each of them is divided into 2 parts – northern and southern. The weather at both ends of the island can be drastically different. If it is raining at one end, a strong wind is blowing and a maximum of +20, then at the other it is quiet, sunny, warm and +26. The difference in average annual temperatures here does not exceed 10 degrees Celsius.

Looking at the table, you can see that the air and sea temperatures in the north and in the south are not much different, but the number of sunny days on the south coast is one and a half times more.

The beach season in the Canary Islands lasts almost the whole year. Of course, only seasoned swimmers can swim from December to April. After all, the sea temperature will be about +20 degrees. Also, here you can lie in the snow, if you climb the tops of volcanoes in the winter months. They do not reach the ski resorts, but it is absolutely real to admire the snow-white hats. Due to the uniqueness of the islands, vacation prices are much higher than on the mainland.

We hope that with the help of our article you learned something new about the weather in Spain by months and we helped you decide on the place of your upcoming vacation.

      Have a nice trip!

The whole territory of Spain can be conditionally divided into three parts according to the characteristics of its Mediterranean in the south of the country, continental in its central parts and Atlantic in the northwest of the country.

The Atlantic climate is characteristic of the north and especially northwest of Spain.

      • in this part of Spain, temperatures vary by month, and also during the day and night, have strong differences;

      Defined by three climatic zones.
The weather in the northern part of the country is influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. There are always warm summers, and winters are mild and wet. Winter minimum temperature +6..+8°C, maximum +12..+14°C, and summer minimum +12..+15°C, and maximum temperature +20..+24°C.

      Spain
is a beautiful country to visit at any time of the year. It captivates tourists with its special atmosphere, wonderful climate and great opportunities for varied recreation.

During the trip, you can combine a beach holiday, as well as acquaintance with ancient sights. The temperature in Spain by months and the water temperature will help you understand what time of the year it will be more comfortable to relax.

In addition, a dry and hot wind blows from the sea, which further increases the feeling of heat, this is especially noticeable in the Canary Islands.

If you don’t really like the heat, but really want to swim, then you should go to the resorts located on the Canary Islands, the Costa Blanca and the Costa Dorada, as well as the beaches of the Balearic Islands.

      Autumn

In the autumn season in Spain begins the real velvet season
. In September, the weather is just as beautiful as in previous months, so the number of tourists here does not subside. The sea continues to keep warm until the middle of the season.

March brings the long-awaited spring to Tenerife. And even if it manifests itself rather modestly, by the end of the month the sun is already warming the air quite well. So, what is remarkable about the weather in Tenerife in early spring?

      Air temperature

The general weather pattern in Tenerife in March is unstable. This is due to the cold winds often blowing from the Atlantic. Nevertheless, the March weather has its positive aspects. This also applies to an increase in the number of sunny days, and a decrease in days with precipitation. The average daily air temperature is 17 C, although for example in 2015 the column rose to +22 C. At night in March it is still quite cool, on average about +11 C. The average wind speed in March is 5.5 m/s, sometimes there are gusts up to 10 m/s.

      Water temperature

The sea water off the coast of Tenerife is still quite cold in March. Its average level is +18 C, which is still not enough for swimming, although there are lovers of refreshment in such water.

      Tenerife in March

      How to pass the time?

Most of the entertainment in Tenerife in March is not connected with a beach holiday, or rather with its “bathing” component. But it is already possible to sunbathe, especially in the second half of the month, when the midday sun is already hot. But still, the prevailing holiday in Tenerife in early spring is associated with trips around the island, since, despite the relatively small size, there is something to see here.
First of all, we are talking about such natural attractions as the Teide volcano, the laurel forest in the Anaga park, the Maska gorge and the wonderful Botanical Garden.

If you went on vacation with children, then you should definitely visit the real “pearls” of Tenerife:

      • Loro Park with a magnificent penguinarium and a collection of parrots;
      • Monkey Park;
      • Siam Park;
      • Jungle Park.

Another interesting activity in March is the jousting tournament. This event takes place in the castle of San Miguet and gathers a large number of people who want to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the Middle Ages. The show runs on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, starts at 19-00. Entrance ticket for an adult will cost 48 euros, for children a 50% discount.

Tour in March – the cost of the tour in Tenerife

The cost of holidays in March is not as high as in the high season, which will start a few months later. If we talk about average figures, then for $ 2000 it will be possible to spend a very good week together. If you’re lucky, then by purchasing some kind of “burning” tour, you can reduce this figure. However, do not forget that you should carefully approach the choice of a travel agency – try to work only with trusted companies.

Do you know what people call the island of Tenerife? Island of Eternal Spring! This is because here all year round the weather is like spring: it is not cold, but there is no real heat either. All this is due to the location of the island and the Atlantic Ocean, which also has almost the same temperature all year round. So what’s the point of staying here? The answer is just as simple: it’s beautiful here, it’s great here, and here you can escape from the Russian cold. For example, the weather in Tenerife in March 2020 is much warmer than in southern Russia. And although the temperature of the water in the ocean is not suitable for swimming, you can sunbathe on the beach without any problems. And so, we will tell you about the farthest island of Spain, and what awaits tourists here in early spring.

As we have already mentioned, Tenerife is located in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The closest land neighbor is Africa, and this also leaves its mark on the climate. Thanks to this neighborhood, spring comes here earlier, and the air warms up faster. True, this does not affect the temperature of the water in the ocean, but even so, hundreds of thousands of tourists constantly rest here.

With the advent of March, the amount of precipitation in Tenerife is significantly reduced. For the whole month, 25 millimeters of rain can fall. At the same time, there are no completely rainy days or no more than one. In general, it can rain up to five times in March, and its duration is about three hours.
The rains are uneven on the island. For example, in the south it can be cloudy and rainy, and at the same time the north of the island will illuminate the sun and warm tourists. It is also often possible to observe showers and thunderstorms in the ocean, and there will be comfortable sunny weather on the shore.

Comfortable sunny weather on the island at the beginning of spring happens quite often. If you believe the statistics of weather and climate observations, then in March there are about 20 sunny days. On such days, the sun shines for more than 70% of the entire daylight hours and is only occasionally hidden behind the clouds. And the daylight hours have already become much longer, and if in the first days of March it was 11.6 hours, then by the end of the month it is already 12.4 hours. This is great news for vacationers as they can spend more time relaxing on the beaches and spending more time under the sun.

The average air temperature during the day is about +17 degrees Celsius. On sunny days, the air can warm up to +23 and then absolutely all the tourists of the island rest on the beaches. Also, the temperature can be lower, usually it happens in cloudy weather, when the sun is hidden behind the clouds.

If during the day you can often walk in shorts and light T-shirts, then in the evenings and nights it is better to wear warmer clothes. At night, the air cools down and becomes no higher than +13 degrees. Plus, a breeze begins to blow from the ocean, which is not always warm and pleasant.

The bright and magical advantage of the island of Tenerife is comfortable weather conditions all year round. Such pleasant weather throughout the year, as in the Canary Islands, cannot be found anywhere else in Europe. And maybe all over the world =)).

Different spring in the north and south

The island consists of 4 altitudinal zones, which are separated by a high ridge that holds back the clouds. What does it mean? In different places in Tenerife, the weather, temperature and precipitation are very different from each other. Sometimes 10 degrees! O_o

First you need to clearly understand that the temperature on the island is very different, in the north it is always colder. Therefore, if you want to relax in Tenerife in March, April or May, then choose the southern resorts. .

Tenerife is called the island of “eternal spring”, due to the fact that there are no pronounced heat seasons, rains and other unpleasant periods. Tenerife differs from mainland Spain in its mild climate and warm winters.

To sum up, Tenerife is very nice in spring! Already in March you can sunbathe on the southern beaches, and in April and May you can swim. In the spring, temperatures even out, trees and flowers begin to bloom all over the island! This is a wonderful time for hiking and observing wild beauty.

Do not forget that the temperature in Tenerife in March, April and May depends more on the place on the island than on the month.

      Tenerife

Tenerife has a relatively small territory
, but the climatic conditions in the south and north of the island are markedly different.

      • Los Cristianos
        .

The water temperature in the ocean is not yet suitable for water procedures – it warms up to an average of +19°C. But even despite this, some tourists open the swimming season by the end of March.

In the second half of the month the temperature of air and water becomes a couple of degrees higher, and a strong wind leaves the coast of the island.

      North
Tenerife is a little cooler, but this region is mostly where the main attractions of the island are located, so you can take warm clothes with you to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. In this region, the air temperature during the day warms up to +18 degrees, and at night it cools down to +14 degrees. The ocean in this part of Tenerife often rages, and the water temperature is +16 degrees. A strong wind does not give a chance to have a normal and long rest on the coast.

      March holiday

Anyone who wants to go to Tenerife in March will not regret this trip. on the island in the first month of spring brings continuous advantages.

      Pros and cons

March in Tenerife belongs to the low season
, but even despite such features, there is always something to do here during this period. Many tourists head to the south of the country to enjoy clear and sunny days during their holidays, sunbathe on the beaches.

In March, it is quite easy to find and book on the island at an attractive price
, while the numbers will meet a variety of requests. In the following months, the beach season starts on the island, so it will be much more difficult to get to local resorts. Tickets to the island, entertainment programs and excursions are also quite cheap.

Even the temperature difference is positive
affects the holidays in Tenerife in March. During this period, newlyweds and families with children choose the south coast for recreation, and those who cannot stand the heat, but want to enjoy their vacation on the coast, go to the north.

Slightly cooler climate conditions are ideal for those with health problems.

Of the minuses of rest in March, it is worth noting that a sandstorm from the Sahara will most likely come to the island. This unusual natural phenomenon called Kalima
brings sand with it, forming an unpleasant haze in the air. Such a “bad weather” lasts about 1-2 days, and then everything returns to its place.

How to dress and what to take with you?

If you plan to travel in early March, you should pack not only light items such as a T-shirt, dress or shorts, but also warm clothes
. It should be remembered that in the evenings it is still quite cool, and a warm sweater, windbreaker or warm shoes will make you feel comfortable. Do not forget about swimwear – local hotels allocate pools with sea water for guests, where you can have a good time on vacation.

If a trip to Tenerife is planned for the second half of March, then you can immediately limit yourself to a small set of basic items
, such as swimwear, sunglasses and headwear, as well as light summer clothing and footwear. To avoid sunburn, you can take sunscreen with you.

      Beach holidays

Pleasant sunny days are conducive to an unforgettable vacation on the south coast, where the best resorts of Tenerife are located. In addition to Las Americas, Costa Adeje and Los Cristianos, which are familiar to many, tourists prefer El Medano
. These beach resorts are sheltered from strong winds, and in addition to relaxing on the coast, there is quite a lot of entertainment here:

      1. Surfing
        ;
      2. Dolphin and whale watching
        ;
      3. Diving
        .

Boat trips to El Hierro Island are quite popular, where you can also relax on the beach in cozy bays or go diving.

      Excursions and entertainment

Cognitive leisure in March in Tenerife is very diverse – there really is something to see on the island. The most popular attraction is Teide volcano
      – the highest point not only of the island, but of the whole. You can climb to the top on foot or by funicular and, if you’re lucky with the weather, you can see other islands that make up the Canary archipelago.

The first month of spring on the “Island of Eternal Spring” – do you think this does not happen? You are deeply mistaken. Come to Tenerife and see for yourself! Well, first of all, the Tour Calendar invites you to find out what makes this resort attractive in March, and how much tours can cost.

      Weather in Tenerife in March

While in March in Russia spring is only on the calendar, in Tenerife the onset of this month promises beautiful sunny weather. The mild subtropical climate and proximity to Africa provide the island with consistently warm and sunny days throughout the year. If you decide to go on vacation this month, your suitcase will not be overloaded with heavy things. During the day, summer clothes like shorts, T-shirts, skirts and sundresses are appropriate, and for the evening you will need trousers, a windbreaker or a thick sweater. This wardrobe is relevant not only in the southern resorts, but also during a trip to the north. Although in some cities in this part of the island the temperature is a couple of degrees lower. Excursion to Pico de Teide requires separate equipment. It is very cold there, and in March there is snow even at low altitudes. The ideal option would be a jacket and sturdy boots with durable soles, allowing you to make a difficult climb. Sunscreen and sunglasses are equally important items on the road. It only seems that the sun’s rays are very weak. Even in mountainous areas, the nose can burn. An umbrella is also an indispensable attribute. March weather is often described as unstable. Although, of course, everyone puts their own meaning in this concept. In fact, this means that in the northern regions about 6 days of precipitation are expected, and in the south – at least 4.

But they do not follow each other in a row and alternate with dry and slightly cloudy ones. In addition, Tenerife repeatedly indulges its guests with a piercing blue clear sky. Now let’s briefly consider its temperature background. In principle, no special changes have occurred in it since February. Is that the nights have become a little warmer. During the day in the capital, which lies on the northeast coast, weather forecasters record an average of +22 ° C. The total duration of sunshine is somewhat lower than in the south. However, during the midday hours, the air tends to warm up much above this mark. Evenings are a little different. As you know, they are not comfortable enough even at the height of summer. This month, the thermometer steadily drops to +14 ° C. Puerto de la Cruz experiences lower numbers – +12..+19°C Apparently, its location in the lowlands affects. Humidity here is slightly elevated, often the sky is covered with a cloudy veil, so there are few people who want to walk on its volcanic sand. In the southern regions, the average value of the absolute maximums is approximately +22 °C, and with darkness the air cools down to +15 °C.

Despite the fact that Tenerife is adjacent to the Sahara, March is not very suitable for a classic beach holiday. The water is still cool, although some daredevils, it should be noted, take a dip. In any case, for children, bathing is fraught with colds. The first month of spring is more suitable for admiring pastoral landscapes, as during this period outlandish flowers bloom in the meadows and forests and various trees exude a sweet aroma. Renting a car will give you freedom of movement and save a lot of precious vacation time. Fortunately, car rental on the island is not expensive at all. Children will be delighted with amusement parks, while adults will remember interesting cultural programs and cozy evenings in restaurants.

      Beach holidays

If we consider the option of a beach holiday, then definitely in the southern resorts, where the weather is more pleasant. In early spring, the water temperature in the Atlantic Ocean continues to stay at the same level as in January and February – +19 ° C. According to the “experienced”, only a few enter the water. And even the euphoria that reigns during cruises to watch pilot whales and dolphins (by the way, highly recommended) cannot overcome the fear of their participants. Therefore, a stop for swimming comes out only nominal. But if it is cold for taking sea baths, then the weather is more than suitable for sunny ones. Although the daily maximums will seem unimpressive to someone for reclining on soft velvet sands. In fact, the sun is already palpably hot.

And sometimes the outdoor thermometer announces all +25..+26 °C. The only thing you need to choose the right beach for sunbathing. It is natural that it be leeward. Such places should be sought on the southwest coast. For example, in Los Cristianos, Las Americas or Costa Adeje. In the southeast, the ocean often storms due to the fact that the wind rose comes from the east, from the African continent. El Medano deserves special mention, a real mecca for surfers. Waves here disturb the water surface almost all year round. So this resort is exclusively sports-oriented. I would also like to draw your attention to the fact that at about three in the afternoon all the beaches begin to empty. Firstly, the sun is setting soon, and secondly, it is getting colder.

      Entertainment and excursions

To come to Tenerife and not visit the tourist attractions that are rumored all over Europe, even with complete indifference to any educational trips, is simply unrealistic. Your feet will carry you to some point of interest. In addition, the cost of organized tours is not so high. Perhaps the main advantage of the March excursion is the lack of tourist crowds. And this means that on the most “cult” routes, like Loro Parque, the Pueblo Chico themed miniature park or the Teide volcano, it will be relatively calm and free.

In addition to the places mentioned above, the Pyramids of Guimar are very popular – mysterious stepped structures built by the ancient tribes of the Guanches. Their appearance and layout bear a strong resemblance to the pyramids of Giza in Egypt and those in the Lambayeque Valley in Peru. Relatively recently (in 1998), an ethnographic park was opened on their territory. Every day, a documentary about ancient civilizations is shown in the cinema hall. Those who went on vacation accompanied by the younger generation will not have to worry about what to do with their own children. In addition to Loro Park, which is in the northern part of the island, we recommend that you look into the Eagles Park in Costa Adeje. His calling card is a breathtaking open-air performance of raptors. Along with them, parrots and marabou demonstrate their skills. An excellent alternative to the ocean for children will be Aqualand, which is half empty in winter. The water temperature is maintained at +24 ° C, there are no queues for the slides – beauty and more! The water park offers not only rides, but also go to the dolphin show.

It is said to be much more spectacular than in Loro Parque. However, this water park is mainly geared towards ages 3-5. For teenagers and adults, there is a direct road to Siam Park, which is notable for its Thai-style design. A pleasant end to the evening can be a tasting of Canarian cuisine from freshly caught fish or rabbit meat. If you are in Las Americas, be sure to splurge on the Carmen Mota flamenco show at the Pyramid of Arona concert hall. Enjoy untold pleasure!

      Holidays and festivals

The main carnival celebrations in the capital died down already in February. But if you go south, you will still find the enchanting spirit of the carnival. In towns like Playa de la Arena, Puerto de Santiago and Los Gigantes, the fun begins right after it fades in the north.

As a rule, festive events take place here in the first week of March. After which the baton is taken over (next weekend) by Costa Adeje, Playa de las Americas and El Medano. If Easter falls on this month, consider yourself unspeakably lucky. For the islanders, it is of great importance. And of course, the celebrations are not complete without religious processions. Many cities organize theatrical performances and reenactments of biblical events. Lush parades mark the southern city of Aron and Puerto de la Cruz, in the north of the island.

          Climate of Spain by months:

          Spring

Spring in Spain, as in most European countries, is one of the most beautiful seasons, pleasing with friendly flowering and a rapid rise in temperature. Especially beautiful and fresh spring in the Canary Islands. On the Mediterranean coast in early March, almost no one bathes in the still cool sea, but the beaches are already starting to heat up from the sun, and by May the air warms up to 26-28 degrees. Spring in the Spanish north begins the season of heavy rains.

In anticipation of the opening of the beach season in spring, you can see many holidays that are a way of life for the Spaniards. Of the most famous holidays, one can name “Las Fallas”, the Valencian spring festival, which takes place in mid-March, and the festivities in May dedicated to San Isidro, the patron saint of the city. In the Holy Week preceding Easter, mystical religious processions, known as Semana Santa, take place throughout Spain. One of the most spectacular holidays, “Moros and Cristianos”, takes place in the city of Alcoy at the end of April and lasts three days.

          Summer

In summer, the temperature in the interior of Spain often rises to 38-40 degrees, and the capital is no exception. Due to the suffocating heat, most enterprises close for one of the summer months, and everyone rushes to the sea together, often creating traffic jams not only in cities, but also on highways. July in Spain is the driest of the months, and even at night the air warms up to twenty degrees. The water in the sea is also warm, so in summer the beach season is at its height on the coast. In the Canary Islands, hot African winds are neutralized by the freshness of the south trade winds, creating comfortable conditions for relaxation. In the summer, bullfights take place throughout Spain, and from July 6 to 14, San Fermin is held in Pamplona, accompanied by the famous race through the city streets, ahead of a herd of angry bulls.

          Autumn

For most of the Spanish resorts, autumn is a blessed velvet season, September weather is like the beginning of summer, and the outflow of vacationers and students has a pleasant effect on prices. The temperature does not rise above the mark of 27 degrees, and the sea during the summer is warmed up to + 22-24C. Gradually the temperature drops, but the beaches are open until November. In the central part of Spain, the likelihood of rain increases, but this is a great time to visit the many museums and architectural monuments, holidays and music festivals. In autumn, the traditional deer rut begins in Spanish forests and reserves, and fans of ecotourism can watch their ritual fights.

          Winter

A mild winter on the Mediterranean coast of Spain in Cantabria or Asturias can turn into stormy winds or snowfalls from the Atlantic. Humidity is also felt in seaside resorts – this is the time of rains, as if catching up on opportunities missed during the dry summer. And in the Canary Islands, this is the peak of the season, warm and cloudless days. The velvet season in continental Spain continues only on the sunny Andalusian coast, where there are enough theme parks and golf courses. And, of course, winter is the peak season in the ski resorts of Spain. The country is preparing for Christmas, which is celebrated on a grand scale, the New Year, and the final New Year holidays, beloved by children, the Day of the Three Kings.
