One of the most fun and flavoursome ways of getting to know places you travel to is through the food. There’s nothing more pleasing than trying new tastes, new ingredients and new dishes, quite different to what you’re ordinarily used to. The Canary Islands are a prime example of this and offer a remarkable variety of food. To travel there and not sample their typical dishes would be a serious mistake, so if ever you plan on visiting one of them you should jot down a list of dishes and restaurants to try beforehand. On the island of Lanzarote, the easternmost of the archipelago, there is a small town called Puerto Calero, belonging to the municipality of Yaiza. Here, there are a range of restaurants that we cannot recommend enough. If you ever plan a trip to this volcanic paradise, we recommend that you try, at the very least, some of the best restaurants in Puerto Calero.
How to get to Puerto Calero?
The best way of travelling there is by Water Bus. Perhaps you’re wondering what this strange thing is, but it’s none other than a boat that goes from Puerto del Carmen (in Tías) to Puerto Calero (in Yaiza). The trip takes approximatively twenty-five minutes and is run by Líneas Romero. Most of the restaurants are in the marina zone, meaning that once you’ve stepped off the Water Bus, it’s easy to get to them walking.
Restaurants in Puerto Calero
The vast majority of the restaurants are in the marina area, so once you get off the Water Bus it is very easy to reach all the establishments on foot.
Harbour Club Restaurant
Run by the seaport management company Calero Marinas, this restaurant is ranked fourth of the eleven most renowned restaurants in the zone of Puerto Calero. It’s a modern restaurant that opens every day of the year from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm, making it convenient for everyone.
Where is it? Paseo Maritimo, 12, 35570 Puerto Calero, Lanzarote (Spain)
Average price/person: €20-40
Menu: Highly-varied menu with international and Mediterranean cuisine. It also includes vegan and vegetarian dishes meaning it’s suitable for everyone to dine here. They offer fantastic burgers and chips, local fish dishes with chargrilled vegetables, delicious carpaccios, a selection of salads, desserts to die for and a range of foaming coffees. And those who enjoy a drink or cocktail are well-catered for too, as they have a broad choice ensuring you can enjoy the Canary Islands in the best way possible.
Tripadvisor average rating: 4.5/5 stars (525 reviews)
Restaurante Amura
Not only is it fifth of the twenty-seven listed in Yaiza (municipality where Puerto Calero is located), but it has also been mentioned in the article “Things to do in Lanzarote” in the prestigious Condé Nast ‘Traveller’ magazine.
Where is it? Urbanización Puerto Calero, 35570, Lanzarote (Spain)
Average price/person: €21-43
Menu: The Restaurante Amura menu is small (something that helps when choosing what to have) and focuses on Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine with ingredients that are typical of island. Guests can choose from rices, pasta, fish and meats. Starters include cheeses, tuna or octopus, etc., the rices are always with delicious fish or seafood, and the meats and fish are chargrilled. Desserts include classics such as sorbets, millefeuille and rice pudding. The perfect way to enjoy Lanzarote even more.
Tripadvisor average rating: 4/5 stars (879 reviews)
Mumbai Massala Puerto Calero
As you can imagine, eating at the Mumbai Masala takes you on a journey through Asia, especially India. This means that all lovers of this type of food know there is a special spot for them in Puerto Calero where they can enjoy delicious dishes. Here we should mention that this is the number one restaurant out of the twenty-seven listed in Yaiza and the staff are very attentive with helpful ideas and suggestions for diners, as is borne out by various clients who have left a comment on Tripadvisor.
Where is it? Paseo Marítimo Puerto Calero Local 15, 35571, Lanzarote (Spain)
Average price/person: €15-25
Menu: Mumbai Masala has an extensive menu that includes basmati rices with vegetables (very common in Indian food), all types of spiced meats (especially Mumbai Masala Tikka and Chicken Tikka Masala), perfectly seasoned and served in the most traditional dishes. The chapatis and chickpea fritters with mango, mint or onion dipping sauces, plus the desserts, are guaranteed to delight all. A genuine gastronomic journey taking you to Southeast Asia without leaving Lanzarote.
Tripadvisor average rating: 5/5 stars
Buda Bar
If you’re more interested in liquid refreshments than food, or you’re looking for somewhere to have a drink after eating, then Buda Bar is the place for you. This is one of the best drinks bars in Lanzarote, offering a packed menu of flavours and colours for the most adventurous and demanding alcohol connoisseurs. And if you’re after an extra touch of the exotic, why not ask for a shisha, the classic eastern pipe, and try out different types of tobacco?
Where is it? Marina Puerto Calero Puerto Calero, 35571, Lanzarote (Spain)
Average price/person: €15-20
Drinks list: Mojitos, orgasm cocktail, gin & tonics, etc. There’s a drink or cocktail with your name on it, waiting for you at the Buda Bar.
Tripadvisor average rating: 4.5/5 stars
The Azure is similar in style to the Harbour Club Restaurant and is the fifth best-rated of the eleven top restaurants in Puerto Calero. It doesn’t matter whether you’re Spanish or English, whether you only like a light breakfast or a fuller one, whether you have dinner before or after 8:00 pm, this restaurant fits perfectly around everyone’s needs. The menu is fairly simple, without anything too adventurous, and will please all tastes.

Menu: The Azure has it all – burgers, fried or grilled fish, mussels in sauce, pork knuckle with potatoes, papas arrugás and Caesar salad.
Tripadvisor average rating: 4.5/5 stars
Café de la Plaza
This cafe is the second-best rated of all restaurants in Puerto Calero – and with good reason. This quaint tea room offers everything British imaginable. Five ‘o’ clock tea, Victorian-style cutlery and crockery, a full selection of mouthwatering sweet pastries and cakes, etc. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy breakfast or afternoon tea, and well worth a visit.
Where is it? Local 8, Puerto Calero, 35570 Puerto Calero, Lanzarote (Spain)
Average price/person: €2-12
Menu: Carrot cake, muffins and bagels with cream cheese and jam, teas, coffees, all types of sandwiches, typical English-style breakfasts… Just like having tea in London but exchanging the hustle and bustle of the English capital for the peace and quiet of the Canary Islands.
Tripadvisor average rating: 4.5/5 stars
The Upper Deck Pub
If you’re a beer fan and you like to try different types, and even craft beers, The Upper Deck Pub is the place for you. This is the top-rated restaurant out of the eleven listed on Tripadvisor in Puerto Calero. Its reviews are really interesting and give us a little information about the pub, the drinks and the food on offer.
Where is it? Edificio Antiguo Varadero, 1st floor, 35571 Puerto Calero, Lanzarote (Spain)
Average price/person: €5-13
Menu: As the restaurant itself points out on Tripadvisor, its food is mainly international (i.e., a little of everything). They serve up enormous burgers, nachos with guacamole, fish & chips, hot dogs, cheesy chips, etc. A perfect combination of beer and tasty food for when you fancy giving yourself a little treat at a very affordable price.
Tripadvisor average rating: 5/5 stars
Sushi Bar Minato
If you get a craving for sushi or Japanese food during your stay in Lanzarote, don’t worry: in Puerto Calero there’s also a restaurant serving this type of food. Many visiting guests have left good reviews, a clear recommendation that it’s worth trying.
Where is it? Marina Puerto Calero 1st floor, Edificio Antiguo Varadero, 35570 Puerto Calero, Lanzarote (Spain)
Average price/person: €10-45
Menu: There’s a great range of options depending on the number of people visiting the restaurant and how hungry they are. The appetising starters include fish tartars, udon noodles, gyoza dumplings, tempura and even miso soups. The sushi options depend on the type of sushi you order and the number of pieces you want. For example, there are nigiris, sashimis or cut pieces and also sushi platters of eight, twelve or eighteen pieces. If you’re a vegan and a big fan of sushi, Sushi Bar Minato also caters for you.
Tripadvisor average rating: 4.5/5 stars
La Porteña
Although it may seem strange, the cuisine of Latin America and the Canary Islands has much more in common that could be initially thought. La Porteña, this Argentina-inspired restaurant with its famous grilled meats, is the third top-rated restaurant out of the best eleven in Puerto Calero. It’s obviously a bit tricky for vegans here, but this restaurant is a major attraction for all meat lovers who visit the island.
Where is it? Edificio Antiguo Varadero,1st floor, 35571 Puerto Calero, Lanzarote (Spain)
Average price/person: €30-50
Menu: As well as meats, of course, there are burrata salads, Argentinian-style empanadas and chargrilled chicken. A veritable wonder with a delicious Argentine flavour in the middle of Puerto Calero.
Tripadvisor average rating: 4.5/5 stars
Osteria Pizzeria Margherita
If earlier we mentioned cravings for sushi, now’s the time to talk about a hankering for pizza. Surely no holiday is complete without having eaten pizza at some point. The fact is, there are only very few people who aren’t fans of this gastronomic wonder originating from Italy. And we’re lucky enough to be able to enjoy pizzas in Puerto Calero in Osteria Pizzeria MargheRita. But they don’t only serve pizzas: they offer all manner of Italian food. Their medium-thick crusts cooked in a wood-fired oven are the perfect means to put an end to that eternal war between those who prefer thin-crust and thick-crust pizzas.
Where is it? Calle Pantalanes 2, Puerto Calero, 35571 Puerto Calero, Lanzarote (Spain)
Average price/person: €15-25
Menu: The menu is divided between red pizzas (with tomato sauce) and white pizzas (without tomato sauce) made to classic recipes: margherita, four seasons, four cheeses, veggie, fruti di mare… and also focaccia (for bigger eaters). There are also craft beers on the menu, a plus point for the best-rated Italian restaurant in Puerto Calero.

The great weather in Tenerife – Teide by Night®
When it comes to Tenerife, one thing that’s talked about the most other than the scenery and of course the Teide volcano, which is the most popular attraction in the place, it’s the weather. To most people, after seeing images of Tenerife, they would immediately assume that the island is a really hot place that is populated by some big dry rocks, something that isn’t true at all.
If you follow the weather forecasts of Tenerife for a year or so, you are likely to figure out that when reporting the weather, Tenerife is split into two. There is the south and the north. The North can be classified as wet while the South is classified as dry. Although these ‘theories’ about the North and South are correct, there is more to it than what meets the surface and if you want to truly understand Tenerife’s great weather, then here are some key details for you.
The temperatures in Tenerife
As you already know, the weather patterns of Tenerife are divided between two regions, the North and the South. One basic assumption however that’s untrue is that the North is cloudy whilst the South is sunny. The reason why this popular assumption about the weather in Tenerife is false is simply because everything is all relative. The great thing about all of this is that in the winters, the weather will never drop below 20 degrees and in the summers it will vary between 25 – 35 degrees. This make this weather ideal especially for tourists because truthfully speaking, the weather is very easy to handle regardless of the conditions.
Short rainy days
One frequent question by someone who is considering vacationing in Tenerife are the rain patterns in the island. To explain them, we’ll start by bringing out the fact that although it rains in Tenerife, the rains are not as persistent and common as compared to other places. One notable thing about the rain though is the fact that the most rain falls in winter at night making it more enjoyable. Some downpours can be experienced when seasons are about to shift but these are not as frequents. And yes, there are no reported cases of floods in the modern history of Tenerife which makes its weather patterns one of the best in the whole world.
The Sun shines on 365 days every year
Yes, there are 365 sunny days each and every year in Tenerife. Name any other place in the world that experience’s this? Even in Zimbabwe where there is the world’s best weather, the sun only shines on 340 out of the total 365 days in a year. In particular, in Tenerife’s major attraction, the Teide volcano situated in the Teide National Park, there will always be a blue sky regardless of the circumstances. Despite was mentioned about a cloudy North in the beginning of the post, even if the day starts as cloudy in Tenerife, the sun will always find a way to expose it’s glamour upon the magic island.
In conclusion, apart from the amazing look of the Teide by night, Tenerife has a reputation for having a wonderful climate that is unmatched by any other tourist attraction in the world, it is a destination worth visiting.

Maspalomas: useful tips
TOURIST REMINDER
Spain is no more dangerous than any other country at the moment. The most serious problem is bag theft and pickpocketing. Therefore, we advise you not to carry large sums of money with you. If you intend to make a large purchase, do not put money in a lady’s handbag – it can be torn off by motorcyclist thieves passing by. Leave all valuables in the hotel safe. When you check in, hotel employees may ask you for an identity card (passport) and write out the data necessary for registration from it, but under no pretext have the right to detain your documents. nine0007 If you are staying in a hotel, it is more economical to make phone calls from street booths or call centers. Hotels have the right to set mark-ups for telephone calls and are happy to use this right. When making a long-distance car trip in Spain, try to plan your trip in such a way that you are on the road from 2 to 4 in the afternoon. At this time, the Spaniards are used to having lunch, and most autotourists (and, most importantly, truck drivers) will eat at roadside restaurants, and you can rush along almost empty roads with a breeze. nine0007 It is forbidden to take pictures at military bases, in areas of military ports, police, military and government employees. If you want to take pictures of locals, ask permission first. If you decide to have a bite to eat or something to drink in an unfamiliar city, do not rush to go to the first bar or restaurant that comes across. If there are no visitors at all, this is a clear sign that something is not quite right with the institution, and it is not popular with local residents. Possible reasons are food and drink fraud, hygiene problems, uncleanliness in settlements with visitors. nine0007 In a restaurant, you should round up the amount and add 5-10% to the waiter. The maid should be tipped the day after arrival, a few days later and before departure. Having arrived for a short time in a major Spanish city (Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia), it is better to travel around it by public transport than by your own car or taxi. You will be able to spend more time seeing the sights of the city than in traffic jams. It is best to use the metro – this will allow you to be as close as possible to the purpose of your trip. If you intend to travel to several places, it is better to buy a ticket for 10 trips – each trip will cost you almost half the price. You can use a ticket for 10 trips not only on the metro, but also on buses. Approximately the same applies to urban transport in other major Spanish cities. nine0007 If a highway patrol stops you and asks you to take an alcohol test, never refuse the test, whether you have been drinking or not. Even if the test shows that the alcohol limit is exceeded, in the worst case, you will be subject to administrative punishment. Refusal to check is a criminal act with all the ensuing consequences. Do not try to find public toilets in Spanish cities, they are practically non-existent, except perhaps at train stations and bus stations. Feel free to go to the nearest bar or restaurant. If there are several visitors in the institution, calmly go deeper into the room and look for the treasured door. If there are practically no visitors, you may have to order something first – a cup of coffee, a glass of beer or a soft drink. nine0005

What to see and do in Puerto Rico: If you are looking for a relaxing holiday, head to Puerto Rico.
Tenerife Weather 25 April to 1 May The pattern continued much the same as in previous weeks with a good amount of sunshine, cloudy spells and some rain, but nothing serious. High waves affected some ferries in the south of Tenerife, but all in all it was a typical end of April, beginning of May week. We spent the second half of the week in the south of La Gomera where it was mostly hot and sunny but also quite breezy.
Weather Forecast for Tenerife 2 to 8 May It’s no real surprise that the outlook continues to be similar with sunshine forecast for nearly every day on all coasts, but with cloudy spells and the chance of showers as well from Tuesday afternoon. It looks that most places will see some of the wets stuff at some point over the weekend. The forecast for the big 3rd of May firework display in Los Realejos on Tuesday is for an 80% chance of rain. Let’s hope it doesn’t turn out to be a damp squib.
Weather in South Tenerife – The week could start with a sunny Monday morning and then it should be a mix of sun and cloud for the rest of the week, especially from Wednesday to Sunday when there will also be a chance of showers (5-80%). At the moment some rain is most likely at the weekend. Shade temperatures start the week at 25C and then will stick around 20/22C from Wednesday onwards.
Weather in North Tenerife – Monday and Tuesday morning should see plenty of sunshine but after that there could be more cloud than sun each day with a good chance of showers from Tuesday afternoon. There’s a 30 to 65% chance of showers between Tuesday afternoon and Thursday, rising to 95 to 100% between Friday and Sunday. Shade temperatures start the week around 25C before dropping slightly to 22C on Tuesday and then staying around 18C from Wednesday for the rest of the week.
Weather in East Tenerife – The forecast for Santa Cruz mirrors that of the northern coast in all ways except there could be more sunshine.
Weather in South West Tenerife – Much the same as the south with a sunny start to the week and a mix of sun, cloud and showers during the second half of the week. There’s a 5 to 55% possibility of rain between Wednesday and Friday and a 75/80% chance over the weekend. Temperatures start the week at 24/25C before settling at 21/22C from Wednesday through to Sunday.
Weather in the Mount Teide Crater – The outlook is much the same for Teide National Park with a mix of sun and cloud every day as well as the chance of light showers from Tuesday afternoon till the end of the week. On the summit of Mount Teide it should be bright and sunny all week. Temperatures should hover between 7 and 9C in the crater and -3 and 2C on the peak of Mount Teide.
The Tenerife Weather This Time in 2015 So what happened this time last year? ‘Much of the same as last week with cloud affecting some areas at the start of the week, which may even result in rainfall on higher ground.
The best places to visit in Europe in December feature twinkling Christmas lights with little flurries of snow slowly cascading on centuries-old cobbled streets under the backdrop of fairy-tale castles with spires that reach up to the sky.
Europe is beautiful but gets even more magical in December when the Christmas spirit and exciting holiday activities add cheer to the air. Whether it’s finding delight in perusing Christmas markets, skiing amongst snow-capped mountains, or watching Christmas shows, Europe has it and more.
But first, some advantages of visiting Europe in December.
Advantages of Visiting Europe in December
Visiting in December is great because
the month belongs to a low season when travel expenses are cheaper. Airfare is cheaper, hotel rates are cheaper; and
there are fewer crowds, so you have museums and other sights all to yourself.
So if you’re decidedly set on visiting Europe in December, here are some options.
London, England
London is a lovely city, but even more so in December when it transforms into a winter wonderland full of magical sights and activities, and the spirit and magic of Christmas are hanging in the air.
Trafalgar Square is decorated with huge Norwegian spruce and carols are everywhere.
There are festivals, many different shows, ice rinks, and markets. Shopping is a joy, too, with shops prettily decorated for the holidays.
You can enjoy the sights and sounds with a tour of London via the hop-on-hop-off buses.
It is recommended to extend your stay well into the New Year because there are a lot of activities for that holiday, too.
Though rates tend to rise around the holidays, booking tickets well in advance may give you big savings.
Christmas Tours and Cruises
Here are some Christmas tours and cruises you can book in advance to make your London visit in December an experience for a lifetime.

Nuremberg, Germany
Nobody does Christmas markets (Christkindlmarkt) in Europe better than Germany, and of them all in the country, the one in Nuremberg is the most impressive.
During Advent each year, Nuremberg’s lively Christmas fair is held at Hauptmarkt. Displays of locally crafted and handmade goods and other delicacies are sold in stalls with red and white striped canvas below the castle.
Munch some delicious Lebkuchen, a softly spiced gingerbread that dates back to the fourteenth century and pair them with Glühwein, their version of mulled wine. Go for Kinderpunsch if you want something non-alcoholic.

Rüdesheim am Rhein
Rüdesheim am Rhein, a town in the Rhine Gorge, also has a great Christmas market each year. Called the Rüdesheim Christmas Market of Nations, it’s as magical as the one in Nuremberg. See more information here.

Prague, Czech Republic
Prague in the Czech Republic is remarkable, to begin with, but gets more so in December when snow covers its spire-decorated skyline and majestic castle on the hill.
This picturesque landscape and its Christmas market draw visitors from all over the world.
While second only to Germany’s Christmas markets, Prague’s very own is nevertheless as much a magical and fun experience. From December 1 to 24 each year, stalls selling local products and delicacies dominate the Old Town Square against a backdrop of a giant Christmas tree. It’s a great delight to browse through the various displays and offerings while eating some locally-made sweets.
There are also several ice skating rinks around town where you can lace up your skate shoes and have fun gliding along with merrymakers.
Some fantastic shows you can catch include The Nutcracker at the National Theater, and a number of special classical music performances at the castle grounds.

Whichever of these best places to visit in Europe in December you choose, you sure will definitely have a great time.
Indeed, traveling anywhere in the world is always the most exciting and fun experience. Different countries, different cultures, different cuisines, new people – how can that be uninteresting? Each of them has its own unique nature, flora and fauna, as well as fascinating traditions. Behind each of them is a story that can tell a lot. Architectural monuments that have retained their grandeur over the centuries are real proof of this. Of course, it is the dream of many people to travel to every country and have a world tour. However, it is more important to study each country more deeply and get to know everything. nine0003
Unlike most tourist attractions, I am most attracted to less visited places, invincible roads, various objects located in difficult and difficult areas. For example, I prefer to visit hidden places, lesser known sights, than the Eiffel Tower in France, the Pizzeria in Italy, Big Ben in the UK and the Taj Mahal in India. Of course, these places are worth seeing, but people who are attracted to more mysterious and unusual places will change routes to different regions. Are you one of those who prefer more tourist destinations when traveling, or those who make changes and prefer more hidden ones, secret, less visited places? Are obscure and less visited places exciting and attractive to you? Or do you want to get away from the crowds and visit quieter places? Then, this time, we will introduce you to places that are hidden, little known and less visited in Europe. nine0003
1. Setenil de las Bodegas, Spain
Let’s start our list with Spain. I’m sure Madrid and Barcelona are the first cities that come to mind when talking about Spain. Setenil de las Bodegas is a small settlement built into a rock in southern Spain. This means that people here live under a rock. Can you imagine? Although it sounds terrifying, it has a completely different beauty and wonderful air. Houses in this city of over 2,700 people are completely white. The reason for this was the choice of color, which sharply separates them from the dark stones. Although known as a settlement nestled under the rocks, it has a truly remarkable attraction. The Castle of Nazari and the Church of La Encarnacion are some of the attractions that are specific to this settlement. Nazari Castle is located on a hilltop and was an Arab fortress in the 13th century. All towers, except the original one, were destroyed after the last siege. But no matter what, if you want to enjoy a beautiful view of the city, it is worth visiting the castle. nine0003
The Church of La Encarnacion also has a fascinating history. It was built in the early 1500s to reflect Gothic architecture. Perhaps this is not one of the most outstanding and magnificent churches in the country. However, it has a calm and peaceful aura, typical of all small Spanish settlements. I’m sure this new settlement has caught your attention. If you decide to visit or add it to your plans, it is best to indicate the exact location. This settlement, located between Seville and Granada, the famous Spanish cities, is one of the unique places both in the country and in the whole world. It is a breathtaking and mysterious phenomenon to see how it has been protected under the rocks for so long. nine0003
2. Brisigella, Italy
Now let’s go to Italy! I think Brisigella should be included in this list of lesser known places. This small settlement south of Bologna is also known as “The Tale of the Middle Ages”. The population is over 7500 people. Brisighella is a place rich in history and indigenous culture. It is nestled between three magnificent hills known as the 14th century castle of La Rocca, the 16th century clock tower of La Torre and the 18th century church of Il Montesino. Country walks dominate here during the summer months. Brisigella is a place where you can have a fun time and admire the adventurous and colorful streets without getting bored. nine0003
We also have special tips for those who are tired of walking! Here you will have the opportunity to taste world-class wine, olive oil and ice cream in restaurants and cafes. If you want to experience nature, get to know ancient architectural monuments, witness centuries of history, and most importantly, visit less visited and less visited places, then Brisigella is one of those places to go.
3. Mittenwald, Germany
Speaking of Germany, of course, the first cities that come to mind are Berlin, Munich and Frankfurt. How could I not notice this beauty before. It is reminiscent of areas from fairy tales. It’s amazing how Mittenwald remained so secretive, given its proximity to Germany’s powerful automotive industry. This is a small village, far from the tourist crowd, but at the same time rich in lively historical monuments, where you can taste the best German cuisine and admire the breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains. The Karwendel Alps located around the city make this place an attractive place for winter skiing and summer hiking. It would be a lie if I said that I do not envy the more than 7500 lucky people who live here. nine0003
Mittenwald is one of the German cities that everyone should visit at least once in their life. Colorful architecture and paintings on the houses as a work of art make the city so fascinating that it’s hard not to fall in love with it. Houses with centuries of history are almost as modern as they were built yesterday, and, most importantly, durable. If you’re traveling here, be sure to take the time to visit the Altstadt or the Old Town. Every street, especially the Main Road, Obermarkt, epitomizes timeless tradition to the fullest. nine0003
Another interesting fact is that Mittenwald has a long history and heritage in violin art. Therefore, it is often called “the village of a thousand violins.” The history of this name dates back to the seventeenth century when the Klotz family began to work on making fine stringed instruments. By the nineteenth century, violins were so famous in Europe that every family in Mittenwald was involved in the process of making or selling them.If you are looking for a unique and ideal place where you can safely travel away from tourists, immediately add this city that has preserved the most beautiful traces of culture and history to your list!0003
4. Montenegro
Montenegro is one of the smallest and least known countries with a population of about 630,000 people. We can focus our attention on many cities and many small towns here. Unfortunately, this country is not as famous as other European countries, and it is not subject to the same influx of tourists, which would simply mean overlooking the beautiful nature of this country. The little-known village of Montenegro is Perast, where just over 400 people live. Peace in the city can be understood by this figure. One of the most beautiful cities in Europe, 12 km north of Kotor is the small coastal town of Perast. Although it may seem strange and inaccessible, its nature is fantastic. nine0003
It was a strategic port between the 15th and 18th centuries between the Ottoman Empire and the Venetian Republic. It is hard to imagine that this small village with one main street was once at the crossroads of these mighty empires. There are 16 churches in such a small town, and this figure makes this village the recognized city with the highest number of churches per capita. The most magnificent of these is the Church of St. Nicholas, a baroque masterpiece from the 17th century. The village is also surrounded by picturesque mountains overlooking the bay. Isn’t it great to have mountain views in small villages and towns? There is also an artificial island called “The Lady of Stones” which, according to legend, was built by sailors 500 years ago by collecting stones and old ships. A small church sits on this rocky mound in the water. nine0003
Inside there are many beautiful paintings from the 17th century and a symbol of St. Mary the Mother from the 1400s. Perast is also a great place for seafood lovers. Local fishermen bring fresh fish that day directly from the Bay of Kotor and the Adriatic Sea. This is a small but exciting place with a mysterious and rich history!
5. Folegandros, Greece
Folegandros, Greece is one of the countries that many love and often visit. But this time we will talk about a place other than Athens or Santorini. About Folegandros with a population of about 1000 people and an area of 32 km2! Folegandros is an undiscovered island that forms the southern part of the Cyclades next to the famous Santorini. Its pristine beaches and architecture amaze everyone. Beaches such as Karavostasis, Vizzezzo and Hohlidia, known for their clear and colorful waters, are must-sees. The island is designed for hiking along the road from the Chora cemetery to the magnificent sunset views of the Panagia Hill church. Coming here, you can enjoy different experiences by tasting homemade pasta with popular mats, roast lamb and tomato sauce. nine0003
In short, if you are tired of the usual island walks, crowded people, crowded beaches and the desire to discover and explore the news within you, then this extraordinary little island is for you!
6. Figeac, France
Figeac, France If you ask anyone in the world about France, Paris will be the first thing that comes to your mind. These two names are already inseparable abstractions. Of course, a trip to this beautiful city of love is a must, but this time I want to talk about the unknown and lesser known Figeac, a city that no one will ever think of when they mention France. Figeac is quiet, quaint and perhaps one of the best places to witness medieval life. Visitors who travel here even without information can guess how old this place is from the architecture and monuments. It is also impossible not to fall in love with this city, seeing the harmony of history and nature. Age graceful charm of the city can charm everyone. Proof of this are the luxurious streets, buildings of the 13th century and breathtaking landscapes. In the Champagne Museum you will find an incredible reproduction of the Rosetta stone. On Sundays there is a market with local products, which has retained its beauty for over a hundred years. nine0003
7. Mdina, Malta
Mdina, Malta is an archipelago in the central Mediterranean, located between the coast of Sicily and North Africa, with a population of about 494,000 people, according to 2019 statistics. However, despite being an archipelago, it is officially recognized as the Republic of Malta. One of the things people love to travel is that the country is one of the safest to visit. However, despite the fact that this country is not subject to the tourist flow in the same way as other European countries, some cities are generally not known, and there is even a city known as the “Silent City”. This is Mdina, where about 300 people live. nine0003
This charming city has been a prized fort for almost 2,700 years. It is said that when you stand on the streets of Mdina, you feel as if you are standing in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. You may ask, “How is this possible?” It depends on the geographical location, history, architecture and culture of the region. The architecture of Mdina was influenced by many powerful empires, including the Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs, Byzantines and Norwegians.
8. St. Gilgen, Austria
St. Gilgen, Austria, once again a European country distinguished by its beauty and admired by all: Austria! And one of its hidden and lesser-known attractions is St. Gilgen! It is a small town headed by the Wolfgangsee, one of the country’s most beautiful lakes, in the “Salzkammergut” district of Salzburg. In this small town, as in other Austrian cities, there are no high prices and crowded streets. This makes it the perfect place to experience the scenery, fairy tale houses and the country’s traditional cuisine. The colorful houses and shops here are designed to keep you in a pleasant aura. The facades are painted in all colors of the rainbow. It is one of the favorite places for skiing in Austria during the winter months. The Zwölferhorn overlooks the city and its adjacent lake, providing a beautiful view of the country in winter, which can be called the Land of Wonders. During the summer months, the lake has all the opportunities for water sports. You can rent boats, paddles and any other water equipment of your choice, depending on your desire for a relaxing or adrenaline-filled holiday. nine0003
9. Island of Pag, Croatia
The island of Pag, Croatia, as a country, was once one of the most secretive and least visited places in Europe. Although it is currently becoming popular with tourists, there are still many places to be known, discovered or known. And the island of Pag is one of them! Pag is one of 1200 Croatian islands in the Adriatic Sea. This figure may also explain how this island remains hidden and one of the least known places in Europe. Many of these islands are known for their tropical and dense vegetation. However, the island of Pag, unlike these islands, looks like not from this world, and looks more like the moon than our planet. There are no rivers or trees, but on the contrary, the island is covered with dry landscapes, white stones and a lot of salt. That is why it resembles the moon. Although the northern part of the island is known for its lively nights, the southern part is quieter. An interesting fact is that the island of Pag is also famous for its sheep milk cheese, which is considered the best professional cheese in Croatia. Be sure to try it with local Pag Zutica white wine and Pag lamb. They say that after that you will be able to understand why he is famous. My taste is addictive, what about you? nine0003
10. Bohinj, Slovenia
Bohinj, Slovenia And finally, we complete our list of Bohinj, a mysterious, unique, charming and fascinating place in Slovenia. Unlike others, this is not a city or a village. The name is simply associated with the region. Bohinj is located in the center of the Julian Alps. The largest and highest mountain range in Slovenia is also the southeastern part of the Alps. The most popular and amazing natural site is Lake Bohinj, the largest lake in Slovenia. There are 24 villages in the valley and above that combine the richness of the past with the beauty of the present, making it an invaluable place. nine0003
Before you see Lake Bohinj, you can assume that you have already seen the most beautiful lake in the world. However, the mountains that are reflected in the blue waters of the lake make this place so magnificent and beautiful that you want to spend hours away from all people, enjoy the peace and beauty of nature, and enjoy the pleasure of being one of the few people who come here. The Vogel funicular, the Mostnice Gorge, the Church of St. John, and in general the Triglav National Park are some of the most popular and beloved places in the region worth visiting. There are many countries and hidden beauties such as Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland, Portugal, Poland and many more in the world. There are many other places than the countries that we consider. However, we have tried to put together some of the most unusual, most beautiful and least known sites on this list. Every point in the world is worth exploring. Let this list be a map to guide you where to start! nine0003
Top 10 places to visit in Norway
Do you know what our favorite country is? Of course, Norway ! It is amazing and beautiful, and every year we go there again and again and study the beauty of this harsh Scandinavian country. And what is surprising is that although we have been to the Trolltunga many times, we do not forget the road to the Pea and constantly admire the views from the Pulpit, but every time we find something new and notice with delight what we have not seen before. nine0003
For those who appreciate outdoor activities and love Norway, we have compiled the TOP 10 places in the mainland of Norway that you must visit!
Troll tongue
What is the most famous landmark in Norway? Of course, Troll Tongue! It is a stone ledge on Mount Skjeggedal and towers over Lake Ringedalsvatn at an altitude of 350 meters. It offers a breathtaking view, and, probably, that is why there is no end to tourists here. You’ll have to stand in line to enter Trolltunga, but you’ll be rewarded with great views of landscapes that don’t look like Earth at all and, of course, you’ll be able to take atmospheric photos. nine0003
Every year, despite its inaccessibility, the flow of tourists to the Troll Language only increases. But in order to get there, you need to walk about 11 km (one way only!). But believe me, if you decide to take such a walk, you will never regret it!
Kjerag (Pea)
Another attraction in Norway that causes a stir among tourists is Pea. The stone, stuck between the rocks at a height of about a kilometer, can be called an ideal place for those who like to tickle their nerves. And in fact, when there are almost 1000 meters of open space under you, there is no time for jokes. Yes, and it seems that the position of the stone is not very reliable, but the years go by, and the stone is still in the same place. Anyway, you need to have a fair amount of courage to stand on it and take photos! nine0003
But this not only does not stop, but also attracts tourists here. Even the fact that the path to this popular stone takes more than one hour does not stop them. We believe that you should definitely visit here, if only to appreciate the full power of nature and enjoy the magnificent views!
Preikestolen (Chair of the Preacher)
Preikestolen or, as it is also called, the Pulpit of the Preacher, is a giant cliff 604 m high above the Lysefjord. This rock is known for having an almost flat top with an area of 25×25 m. And it is thanks to this platform that the rock is known as one of the main natural attractions of Norway. nine0003
The trail to Preikestolen lies among the most diverse mountain landscapes. It takes about 2 hours to get here from the nearest car park.
The path to the Preacher’s Pulpit is not easy. Despite the fact that the vertical drop is only 330 m and the distance is 3. 8 km (one way), the actual climb is longer and more difficult, because the trail rises and falls many times in the passes. The trail to Preikestolen passes through several different belts of vegetation, from forests at the base to mosses and lichens in the highlands. On the way there are small swamps and lakes. nine0003
However, tourists do not forget the way here: all summer Preikestolen buzzes like a disturbed anthill, but it’s worth going here: here you can look at Lysefjord not from the ferry, but from above. And if you climb even higher, then look at those who came to this rock, which is even more interesting) And we do not lose this opportunity!
Trekking Bessegen
Surprisingly, although trekking near Mount Bessegen is very popular with Norwegians, travelers who come to this country walk very little on it. But in vain: the route runs along the ridge between magnificent multi-colored lakes. nine0003
Trekking begins with a visit to the village of Glendesheim, located on the shores of a picturesque lake. Actually, then the road lies along the lake itself – the groups are delivered deep into the Jotunkhemen National Park on a speedboat. And then the fun begins: climbing over Lake Glende and traveling along a sharp ridge between several colorful lakes. By the way, the water here is of different colors due to the big difference in the depth of these alpine reservoirs. Surprisingly, depending on the time of day, the color of the water in the lakes changes, but never becomes the same! And just imagine what views will open before you: you can enjoy the beauty of snow-capped mountain peaks, glaciers and waterfalls flowing into lakes. nine0003
Mount Gaustatoppen
Do you know which place is the highest in Southern Norway? This is Mount Gaustatoppen, which in clear weather offers a view of 1/6 of Norway. Climbing Gaustatoppen is pleasant and easy. Despite the fact that it rises to 1883 m above sea level, the slopes of the mountain are sloping, and the journey to the top is very simple. The mountain itself is unlike the surrounding mountains and rises above them, according to scientists, because it was squeezed out from the bottom of the ancient sea – here you can find stones with a bottom pattern. Until mid-summer, Gaustatoppen is partially covered with snow and its shining cap is visible far around. nine0003
Gaustatoppen is interesting not only for hikers, but also for skiers: in winter, freeride enthusiasts actively use all the possibilities of this mountain. Moreover, a railway was laid inside the mountain, which is now used as a funicular for freeride lovers.
Valley of Waterfalls
Norway also has its own Valley of Waterfalls – Hyusendalen. It is notable for the fact that the Kinso River flowing here forms as many as 4 waterfalls, and each of them is beautiful in its own way. There is a road through the valley and then a trail, and depending on how many waterfalls you want to see, it will take from 1.5 to 3 hours. The first waterfall on the way feeds the hydroelectric plant. It is located at the very beginning of the trail, so the first impressions of the Valley of Waterfalls can be obtained immediately, just starting the path. The second waterfall is the most powerful, its height is 180 m. Just walking along the path, you can see the seething streams of water from different sides and enjoy the greatness of the natural elements. The third waterfall encountered by travelers lacks the grandeur of the first two, although it is amazing. The height of this waterfall is only 50 m. The last waterfall is really unusual, and if you love the water element, then you definitely need to reach it. The most amazing thing is that it falls into two bowls at once, tilted towards each other. nine0003
The trail along the Valley of Waterfalls is not well-groomed, but walking along it is quite easy and pleasant. If you have a fair amount of perseverance and want to see all the beauties of Hüsendalen, then be sure to follow this path to the end, and you will be rewarded with amazing and sometimes even unearthly landscapes.
Galdhepiggen
If Mount Gaustatoppen is the highest point in Southern Norway, then Mount Galdhepiggen is the highest mountain in all of Norway and Scandinavia. The mountain is located in the Jotunheimen National Park (translated as Giants’ Park). nine0003
The mountain attracts tourists because climbing it is not very difficult (especially in clear weather). There are two paths to the top: long and short. The long one, of course, takes more time, but the short one passes through the glacier, which you need to go along in a bundle and only accompanied by a guide. But just imagine how great it is: to climb the highest point in Norway!
Well, for those who have reached the top, there is a small bonus: there is a small house where you can warm up, eat, buy warm clothes and souvenirs with the symbols of the mountain. nine0003
Nigardsbreen Glacier
Perhaps the most picturesque glacier in Norway can be called Nigardsbreen. It is an arm of Europe’s largest glacier Jostedalsbreen. The color of the ice here is very beautiful: all shades of blue are combined in the snow massifs. And at the very foot of the glacier there is a lake with turquoise water – a turbulent river flows here, formed from streams of melt water.
What is the advantage of this glacier for us is its accessibility. Anyone over 5 years old will be able to walk along a simple route and see with their own eyes the unusual blue ice that appears due to complex processes of water and snow recrystallization, constant melting, freezing and sudden temperature changes. nine0003
Every year, for the convenience of tourists, park rangers cut steps in the glacier so that it would be more convenient for you and me to inspect the glacier. And by the way, you can choose the difficulty of the route: you can see part of the glacier in a couple of hours or walk along the entire hiking trail, spending about 9-10 hours on it.
Troll Wall and Troll Ladder
What else is worth seeing in Norway? Of course, it makes sense to see the Troll Wall – a cult place popular with tourists. It was also chosen by extreme tourists who are engaged in base jumping and mountaineering. And this is not surprising: the height of the Troll Wall is 1100 m, and the ledges reach 50 m, which makes the rock suitable for jumping. nine0003
But for those who don’t like to take too many risks, there are several trails of varying difficulty along the wall, and each route passes through the amazingly scenic landscapes that Norway is so famous for. If you love the harsh northern beauty of Scandinavia and are ready for long hikes, then reaching the Troll Wall is simply a must!
The Troll Staircase is located in close proximity to the Troll Wall and is a narrow path that curves at the most incredible angles. We can safely say that it is an example of engineering art: the serpentine has 11 sharp turns, bordered by low natural stone fences. In some sections, the width of the road does not exceed 3.3 meters. nine0003
The Troll Staircase rises 858 meters above sea level. Approximately in the middle of the Staircase, all daredevils who ventured to drive along it will face an impressive test – they have to overcome a narrow bridge thrown over the Stigfossen waterfall. And for those who overcame fear and reached the final destination, unforgettable beauty awaits: from the upper observation deck at an altitude of over 800 meters above sea level, beautiful views of the Valldalen valley and the Stigfossen waterfall open up.
Bergen
You can talk about Bergen endlessly. Indeed, how can you briefly talk about the city, which in 2000 was appointed European Capital of Culture? There are many attractions here, so when you get to Bergen, you will get a lot of impressions with a 100% guarantee.
Bergen is called the city of rains. In fact, it rains here 270 days a year, but if you are lucky and you get here on a sunny day, you can fully enjoy all the beauties of this port city! In general, Bergen has many names. It is also called “the gate to the realm of the fjords”, because it is from here that travel to the most famous region of Norway begins. nine0003
But Bergen is worth visiting not only because the journey through the fjords begins here. The city itself is beautiful and full of charm. Firstly, it is worth visiting the fish market known throughout Europe (by the way, it is a completely tourist place where you can buy seafood, fish pancakes, and just pieces of ready-made fish in all its forms in almost every tent), take a walk along the Hanseatic embankment declared by UNESCO a World Heritage Site, and of course the Floybanen funicular, which you can pick up near the fish market and drop off at the top of Floyen Hill, where you can take great pictures of all of Bergen. nine0003
This city has given the world many famous personalities. The composer Edvard Grieg, artist Johan Christian Dahl, singer Kurt Nielsen, writer and musician Varg Vikernes and many others were born and lived here. Probably, the indescribable atmosphere of the city, its rich history and a very special foundation contribute to the creative development of its inhabitants.
Although Bergen is the second largest city, it is enveloped in an atmosphere of comfort and a kind of homeliness that is inherent in provincial towns.

Before our arrival I debated for a long time if I should keep my reservation at the Adrián Hoteles Jardines de Nivaria because of its rather high price even in November. You can definitely find cheaper options and vacation rentals with community pools closeby are also a good alternative. However, at the end I am very happy that we kept our reservation as spending time in the “oasis” that the pool and garden landscape offers combined with the hotels location near the promenade and two nice beaches is quite unbeatable.
I still think the price is too high, but the overall very enjoyable experience of our stay sort of balances out that only pain point.
Our experience was first class from the beginning of our visit. As has been mentioned before, the reception staff is extraordinarily friendly and helpful. I also want to single out the young manager that attended to our questions and requests. He was very customer oriented and helpful. Normally I don’t focus too much on reviewing hotel staff, but in this case it is warranted, as it really stands out compared to many other 5 Star hotel I have stayed in.
We had a really nice room and our requests were fully met. We especially enjoyed the balcony with a view over the pool and garden, and we even had seaview. Some reviewers have mentioned that the rooms seem dated. Perhaps the design is not what a newly built hotel would use, but personally I actually really liked it overall. The room is really big and where do you still get a walk-in closet these days?
When we asked for a late check-out we were offered to move our luggage to a courtesy room with toilet and shower. Exactly what we needed!
The pool landscape is fantastic and the garden landscape is very well taken care off. We enjoyed both the heated saltwater pool and the slightly cooler pool with waterfalls. Also the large whirlpool was a delight.
I’d like to mention something about the nearby beaches: One of the reasons I chose the Adrián Hoteles Jardines de Nivaria was its closeness to the Playa del Duque, which is often referred to as one of the nicest beaches on Tenerife, because of its golden color sand. Well, I can tell you, this is definitely not or no longer true! The color of the “Duque Beach” is just the same grayish tone as the much closer Playa de Fanabe. I guess the imported Sahara sand has been blown away over the years. Don’t get me wrong in my opinion, Playa del Duque is still a worthwhile beach to go to, but it is at least a 15 minute walk from the hotel while Play de Fanabe is right in front of the hotel and its sandy beach and the clean water of the Atlantic was just as nice.

This hotel was absolutely exceptional!! We were here in October 2022 and I cannot rate it highly enough. It was absolutely amazing and we will definitely be back. The staff at reception and during mealtimes were so helpful and professional. The room and pool area was spotless. Lots of sun loungers and they have a policy where you cannot reserve sunbeds which was excellent. The options at the breakfast buffet were endless! We ate in the restaraunt on the top floor one of the evenings and did the 6 course tasting menu it was exquisite. The pools were fabulous – one of them was heated and the other wasn’t and there was great food and drink service around the pool although they probably could have done with having an extra staff member taking orders at the pool. There is a gate from the hotel down to the promenade which gives guests direct access to the beach and this was ideal! Lots of beautiful restaurants and bars to choose from down on the prom too. An incredible experience and we will be back!

The rooms are extremely basic, with no personal kits and products you dispense from then wall. In a 5* I wouldn’t expect to have to pay for water, when you can’t drink it from the tap, yet for a 500ml bottle €3.50. As we didn’t buy a drinks package, the fridge was locked so we were unable to use it.
The pool view / sea was lovley. Breakfast there was a good range of options for you to choose from.

Mostly great experience but a few things to improve: Must pay a package just to be able to open the minibar. Wifi could be improved in some of the pool areas, this was a bit problematic for us because our data plan wasn’t working well either. Jacuzzi pressure is too high and splashes too much, so it would be nice to lower the pressure or be able to adjust it to make it more relaxing.
Clean, very helpful and attentive staff, excellent food, well taken care of, room cleaned several times daily, free underground parking (very important). Gym was great but under construction, machines were moved and available as well as sauna/steam bath but weights were unavailable, and they offered to use another hotel’s gym nearby for free. Spa was fantastic. Heated pool was great. We liked that shaving, toothbrush, sewing etc kits were available under request and not a given, this is a good environmental approach to stop unnecessary waste.

The food in the poolside restaurant could have been better. Our pasta dishes were cold. Entertainment in the bar every night is sometimes a little wearing.
Breakfast, pool, hotel style and comfort were excellent. Plenty of sunbeds and no annoying music playing by the pool. The housekeeping services were also excellent. Wonderful waiter service in the bar – especially from Hector!

Callao Garden Family vacation on the island of Tenerife in February 2013. Impressions are the brightest. Excellent service, many excursions, which were both interesting and informative. I really liked the organization of recreation, the work of guides. The team turned out to be sociable, young, incendiary. Colorful carnival processions, a trip to the town of pirates along a mountain path, wine tasting, excellent Canarian cuisine. nine0009 Many thanks to everyone.

Royal Sun Resort Wonderful, very beautiful and so diverse island of Tenerife met us with bright sun, majestic locals and hospitable locals. Everyone will find something to their liking on the island. This includes excellent Canarian cuisine, interesting and informative excursions (visiting Loro Park with a show of killer whales, dolphins, fur seals, Siam Park, a trip to the amazing Teide volcano, boat trips, an unforgettable and vibrant Flamenco show), but also of course a variety of shopping in Las Americas and the capital of the island. nine0009 Coincidentally, on vacation my beloved husband and I had a wedding anniversary and my birthday, as a result, the attentive staff of Premier Holiday and Alfa congratulated us on these important events for us. Thanks to Alfa for a wonderful holiday and personally to the manager Svetlana in Ekaterinburg for the good work and attentive attitude. And also to Ruslan from Premier Holiday. We advise everyone to visit the island of Tenerife, where you will get a lot of emotions, a sea of positive and cheerfulness for the whole year. nine0009 08/31/2014

All is well that ends well. We were once again convinced of the truth of these words when we returned from a trip to Vietnam. Cham Buddhist temples and sculptures, thermal springs, fishing on a Vietnamese lake – we saw all this during our excursion near Muine. We rested at the Phu Hai Resort, we lived in a bungalow overlooking the sea. The hotel is very clean, the territory is large and well-groomed. They were satisfied with the service. The staff is polite, cleaned regularly, and the breakfasts are just good. Lunch and dinner at the restaurant “Madame Trang” portions are just huge, although we paid not much. Along the coast there were private restaurants where you could order various marine reptiles or steamed fish. In general, it was in Vietnam that we tasted seafood and truly appreciated this divine taste. The Show restaurant, which was built by the Russians, deserves a separate discussion. The place is awesome. We managed to get acquainted with its owner, a big and sophisticated new Russian. But after the first minutes of communication, we realized how much Vasily (that was his name) is a sincere person with whom you just want to chat. He told us about some of the secrets of the kitchen, about the delicious mixture of passion fruit juice and mango puree. nine0009 In the first half of the day, as a rule, the bright sun shone, and in the afternoon it was overcast and raining. As for the sea in Vietnam, this is a different story. Firstly, it is warm just to disgrace. Secondly, there are a lot of jellyfish in it, which, in addition to being unpleasant to the touch, can also sting very hard. And finally, a lot of debris floats on the surface, which is not very pleasant for swimming. However, my wife and I were not very upset about this and swam in the pool on site. nine0009 Among the excursions that we especially remember was a walk along the red “Fairy Creek”, which ended with a small waterfall and a panoramic view of the factory of the famous “Nuoc Mam” fish sauce. It is here that the most famous fish sauce in Vietnam is produced. We also visited Mount Taku and the statue of the Reclining Buddha. This is a sacred place for all believing Buddhists. We were sent on this journey by the travel company alpha of our Volgograd. We met her in the most usual way through an advertising campaign in the Voroshilovsky shopping center. Actually, we didn’t have any problems with the paperwork, and a bit expensive, as it seemed to us, but my wife and I have long wanted to go to Vietnam and therefore we saved money in advance. In a word, we are grateful to the travel agency for our trip, which we were satisfied with. nine0005

The trip to Montenegro was planned in advance, in fact, as always. Every year my wife and I travel somewhere, sometimes abroad, more often to Sochi or Adler. So it happened this summer, however, I had to go with a tour operator, acquaintance with which turned into a little story.
It turned out as follows. In the Voroshilovsky shopping center, where we bought small trinkets for relatives, an advertising campaign was held by the Volgograd tour operator alpha. In general, the action is like an action, we did not see anything special, we just took part, washed mugs in blue tickets with the image of a seahorse. And then, at the invitation of the company, we visited the office for a presentation. I had to beg for a trip to Montenegro from the manager, she enthusiastically talked about Tenerife and completely forgot about other destinations that were vividly presented in their catalogs (or albums …). We all successfully completed the paperwork and began to prepare for the trip. Somehow there was no feeling that the alpha was a scammer. And after the trip, it did not appear. nine0009
The word Montenegro, for some, is a memory of the former Yugoslavia, which broke up into small fragmented states, but for us it is a place where you can take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.
First of all, what struck me and my wife was the amazingly clean nature, with forests and mountain peaks, rivers and lakes. The most famous fjord in the world, the beautiful Mediterranean and the Bay of Kotor are protected and enclosed by karst mountains. We lived near the Bay of Kotor in the aparthotel Samardzic. This is a small hotel, similar to a country house, there are not many apartments. Ours were large, comfortable, clean and cozy. All the blessings of civilization worked for us, including a superbly finished bathroom, a complete well-equipped kitchen. We almost always cooked breakfasts and dinners on it, having previously purchased all the necessary products from neighboring shops. nine0009
Among the most wonderful trips that we managed to visit was the canyon of the Tara River and a trip to Skadar Lake. Most of the time spent on the sandy beach Horizon. It is well equipped, the water in the sea is clean and warm, so it is rightfully praised everywhere. Sometimes we sunbathed on the hotel’s artificial beach. Not very good, but nearby and you don’t need to go anywhere (you could walk to the Horizon on foot, but it’s far. It’s best to get there by bus).
Here’s an interesting trip we managed to go this summer. nine0005

we ourselves are surprised how they released something at all, the grip of the local managers is like that of bulldogs, dead!). My son went there himself, paid for the contract, chose the hotel himself, decided all the affairs with the alpha on the account of visas and tickets …
I have a dream since my youth after reading Thais of Athens and Spartacus. Finally, the child has matured so much that he sends mom and dad to the resort on their own. The beauty! nine0009
We got from Heraklion airport to Plakias accompanied by a guide Ruslan. Hotel Plakias Kritan Resort is of typical Greek architecture, with a view of the mountains and the sea from the terrace, at the entrance there is a small flower bed with tropical plants. On the way from the airport, the scorched steppe painfully resembled the Crimea on the way from Kerch to Feodosia, the water in the sea is turquoise! So clean, as not in every pool.
Beaches are paid. If you don’t want to pay, come in and pack, no one will say a word. Towels were changed only three times in two weeks, the beach is rocky. So what? We’re looking forward to a great vacation, and here we are! nine0009
In the evenings they raided local cafes, tried food and drink. The food is very tasty, plenty of vegetables seasoned with olive oil, it is considered the best in Greece. Bought home. It is sold packaged and on tap, like our sunflower. They ate mainly vegetable salads and cheeses. Yummy!
Maybe it will come in handy for someone, in the first days we tried local alcoholic drinks. The beer is good, light is better. Wines – the most delicious – cheap, sometimes from what is produced in small private farms, masterpieces are obtained. nine0009
Now cognacs to end the drinking theme.
Metaxa, unlike what we sell under this name, is a cool cognac! Better than the fact that I had to try their French, especially the Crimean ones. Ouzo – for an amateur. They drink, diluting with cold water, a milky-white liquid is obtained. For me, Burda, pertussin with ice is about the same, hot pertussin is no better, but among our relatives there are fans of Sambuca.
Of the sights, mostly ancient ruins, according to legend, Zeus was born here in one of the caves, we climbed all around. We rode on a boat, a small island not far away is called Karpathos, your deeds are wonderful, Lord! nine0009
From mid-September to mid-October, the most fertile time here, the heat subsides, the temperature is comfortable. They scared us with rain, but we were lucky with the weather, it was lightly sprinkled only twice. By the way, from the point of view of economy, it is also a convenient time, the high season is over, prices are falling.
I was blown away by the taste of coffee. We are drug addicts, in the sense of coffee lovers. I have never tasted something so delicious!!!
We will come again and again. This is a dream come true!

On April 19, the Assembly of workers was held at the Belgorod State Museum of Folk Culture education and culture of the region. The event entitled “Network interaction of educational and cultural institutions as a condition for the socio-cultural development of the younger generation based on the study of Belgorod studies” brought together more than 100 participants and, judging by their feedback, passed in one breath. nine0005
In front of the plenary part of the Assembly participants were greeted by Vice-Rector for Educational and Methodological Work of the Belgorod Institute for the Development of Education Yu.M. Melnik and project manager – head of the support center for work with gifted children and youth BelIRO L.N. Moskvitina. Larisa Nikolaevna reminded the audience about the history of the Belgorod Studies regional project.
The course with the same name, designed to instill patriotic feelings, knowledge of traditions and culture among schoolchildren in the region, has been included in the content of education since 2015 as an additional material to the main subjects, and, as experience shows, is very successful among children, and in adults. nine0005
Director of the Museum of Folk Culture Ye.V. Spiridonov. Elena Viktorovna said that since 2005, museum staff have been traveling to areas where, within the framework of the “Museum Away” project, they acquaint schoolchildren with the customs and traditions of their small homeland.
The unusual format of the event also influenced the plenary session, during which there were not only reports on the formation of the ethnographic culture of preschoolers, networking of general and additional education in the implementation of the Belgorod Studies program, on the partnership between the library and school in the dissemination of local history knowledge, but also folk songs performed by the participants of the meeting. nine0005
The plenary part of the Assembly was replaced by master classes, where the participants could not only see various handicrafts, but also communicate with masters of arts and crafts who came from different parts of the region, learn some secrets of creating certain works.
Windsurf Rental and Coaching Center in Gran Canaria
The wind is usually lighter in the morning and windsurfing conditions are easier for beginners. More action for advanced sailors comes around noon when the wind picks up. Inside the bay there are perfect conditions to practice beachstarts and waterstarts, or some first jibes. Around 600m further out you will find bigger swell from 0.5 to 1.5m for wave riding and jumping. On the left side of the bay there is a cape which forms a clean breaking wave on some days of the year, perfect for front side wave riding.
The wave conditions depend on the actual tide level. The breaking wave will have more power at high tide than at low tide, and the standing area is reduced at high tide. The FBC Team is always there to give you a helping hand and to provide useful advice about the spot, wind and wave conditions. There is a 60% to 70% probability of winds over 4 Bft from October to April. In the summer months (May to September) the trade wind is more consistent but is more northerly. When the wind blows around the island, Bahía Feliz is sheltered and only light winds reach the bay.
For that reason we offer our very popular daily high wind excursions to many top spots !
For many years our center has been organizing high wind excursions to the northern top spots of the island like Salinas de Arinaga or Burrero, which are situated near the famous World Cup spot of Pozo Izquierdo. We also offer more advanced excursions to pure wave spots such as Vargas, Ketchup or even Pozo, but only after having checked your level!
Salinas de Arinaga is a very universal spot for different levels. Protected by a windward tongue of land it offers flat water on the inside, wind chop in the medium section (easy to jump) and some long swells outside. Arinaga has a pebble beach, but further into the water the base is mostly sand. The wind is usually similar to Pozo or Vargas, but because of the flat inside area it is perfect to train water starts, first jibes or other maneuvers, along with lessons for wave sailing or jumping (depending on conditions and your level). As the wind is mostly very strong, water start and some experience in high wind surfing are essential (only short boards available). If you are not yet water starting, don´t worry … with a few lessons success is guaranteed! Owing of the challenging conditions, every guest participates at his own risk, being responsible for his own safety, and the equipment.
Last but not least, there is so far no kitesurfing on offer at FBC Gran Canaria. The team is actively looking into this to find the best suitable spots so this might very well change in a near future !
Instruction
Whether beginner or advanced courses, the FBC pro instructors are eager to use only the newest teaching concepts, with ongoing evaluation. Small groups with extensive support and individual feedback promise a fast progression, as well as safety and a lot of fun on the water. We cover all levels, from complete beginners and a basic introduction to windsurfing for active holidaymakers of any age. Also the young ones from the age of 8 years old can join the adventure with our special kids courses. They are designed to match the children’s needs, and with our special kids equipment we guarantee quick success thanks to its easy handling. However, we don´t stop there … we offer you top instruction for all levels with intermediate lessons for those who already completed a beginner lesson, or you can join one of our advanced to expert lessons, from waterstarting to the art of jumping and riding waves, which is also a must on Gran Canaria! The courses content is mainly orientated towards the level of the participants and the wind conditions.

Ridiculous price for top location
40 euros for an hour! You can easily double that somewhere else. And where it’s cheaper, it’s not as nice as on the GC coast. I will definitely book again.
Spottpreis für Top-Location
40 Euro für ne Stunde! Da bezahlt man woanders leicht das Doppelte. Und wo es billiger ist, ist es nicht so schön, wie an der Küste von GC. Ich werde definitiv wieder buchen.

Windsurfing is possible wherever there is sea, sun and wind. However, more and more often we want to enjoy not only the picturesque nature and excellent wind, but also get the most out of our vacation by checking into a good hotel near the beach for skiing. Today we will tell you about the best hotels where windsurfers are always welcome and all conditions for water sports lovers are created. nine0003
Hotels in Egypt
The most popular place for windsurfers is Egypt. If we talk about hotels, then in Egypt there are more specialized hotels, stations and schools than anywhere else. When choosing a vacation spot, we suggest you pay attention to two interesting places.
The first spot is Laguna. All conditions for kite and windsurfers are created here. You will find here ten good stations and hotels, ski areas for athletes of all levels and several prestigious schools (instructors are fluent in Russian, German and English). In terms of windsurfing, Laguna in Egypt is the best place for beginners. nine0003
Hotels near Laguna:
Swiss Inn Resort Dahab is an excellent hotel with many free features for guests. The sea is at hand;
Iberotel Dahabeya is a good place popular with windsurfers and water sports enthusiasts in general. Located right on the seafront. The nearest school and equipment rental station are visible from the windows of the room;
Ibis Styles Dahab Lagoon is the most convenient hotel for athletes in terms of location. All popular ski spots of the Laguna spot can be reached within 10-15 minutes. nine0186
The second interesting spot in Egypt is Kiriazi Beach . Unlike Laguna, Kyriazi is suitable not only for outdoor activities, but also for a family vacation. On the territory of the spot there are 2 rental stations, three good schools and many areas for riding the waves.
Hotels near Kiriazi Beach:
Palm Royale Soma Bay is the closest hotel to the spot. Its own large beach, excellent service and not too high a cost of living; nine0186
Carribean World Resort Soma Bay – hotel right on the beach. Nearby there is everything you need to ride. The only negative that can affect the decision to move in is paid expensive Internet;
Kempinski Hotel Soma Bay is another great place to stay during your vacation near Kiriazi Beach spot. The hotel is distinguished by a large number of free services and a beautiful beach for windsurfing.
Where to stay for a windsurfer in Greece
In general, Greece is ideal for sailing and windsurfing. This stunning location has everything you could possibly need. Today we will dwell on three popular skiing spots and their hotels, which have long been considered a traditional place of residence for windsurfers from all over the world.
The island of Rhodes, the largest in the archipelago, is famous for its Prasonisi spot. The winds here are strong and constant, which means that this is a great place to uncover your board. The spot has two different areas for skiing – flat and waves. nine0003
There are six hotels near the Prasonisi spot, but only four of them are really located on the seashore:
Ocean Palace ,
LightHouse II ,
Hotel Oasis ,
LightHouse .
All hotels are three-star and are distinguished by the fact that from them you can easily get to any ski area on the spot. The cost of living, even in comparison with Egypt, is low.
Another excellent windsurfing spot, Psalidi, is located on the island of Kos. Considering the strength of the wind, this is a place for already confident windsurfers to ride. On the other hand, for beginners there is a good school with professional instructors who speak four languages (there are no Russian speakers yet). There are three stations on the coast. nine0003
There are several hotels that are located near Psalidi. In total, there are seven of them on the spot for every taste and budget. The closest hotels to skiing are Kipriotis Village (500 meters from the sea) and Natura Park Village (400 meters from the sea). For those who want to choose a cheaper place to stay, should take a closer look at the following hotels for windsurfers:
Natura Park Village – right on the beach of the same name, but a little away from the main skiing areas; nine0186
Grecotel Kos Imperial – the Imperial Kos Windsurfing and Watersports Club station is immediately located on the territory of the hotel;
Apartments Seagull is the cheapest and most comfortable hotel. Only 35 rooms and low prices, taking into account the high level of service. Located five minutes walk from Grecotel Kos Imperial.
Turkish Wave
Wave riding in Turkey has become very popular in recent years. Unfortunately, the water tourism infrastructure is not developing so fast. There is only one normally equipped spot in Turkey – Alacati. But, it’s really cool to ride there. nine0003
Turkish spot hotels Alacati:
Alkoclar Alacati – 5 stars, full service, a stone’s throw from the coastline;
Solto Alacati Hotel is another five-star hotel for windsurfers. The sea is also only ten meters away;
Shaka Guesthouse is the only budget hotel near the stations. Three stars and good service. It is designed for athletes and is not suitable for family vacations with children. nine0186
Mauritius Island
Mauritius is one of the most beautiful wave riding spots not to be missed. We’re talking about Le Morne. Nature is striking in its beauty, and the waves and wind are perfect.
Directly on the spot there are two hotels with four stars each:
Indian Resort and Spa – not far from the Club Mistral station;
Mornea Hotel – just a hundred meters from the famous kite valley. nine0186
If you need something cheaper, there are two good hotels for windsurfers near the skiing areas. True, they are not quite familiar in their arrangement – these are specially equipped villages or villas with apartments:
PIK-PIK – apartments three kilometers from the spot. A very beautiful place;
La Galette is a village six kilometers from the skiing area. Housing prices are low. A traditional stopover for windsurfers in Mauritius; nine0186
Sunset Villa – a large selection of small villas to stay. The spot is about five kilometers away. Relatively cheap accommodation and a full range of services for guests.
Caribbean waves of Aruba
Aruba is a small island in the Caribbean archipelago. From mainland America to the island is only fifteen kilometers. Today it is the place of residence of almost one hundred thousand people of various nationalities. But, for us, the main thing is the ideal conditions for all types of boarding. There are several excellent hotels on the island, and given its size, a windsurfer can check into any of them. However the best option would be hotel Fisherman Huts at the beach of the same name, where thousands of athletes gather every year. The hotel has everything you need – a school, a shop, a rental station. Just twenty meters away is a beach with good conditions for skiing.
Canary Islands, Gran Canaria
The Spanish island archipelagos are also distinguished by everything necessary for lovers of water sports. The best place to find a good hotel for windsurfers is Gran Canaria , one of the Canary Islands chain.
Morocco in January: Travel Tips, Weather, and More
Weather
Morocco’s winter is mild. But January is the coldest month of the year—and also the wettest. Generally speaking, temperatures peak in the high 60s, with lows in the 40s, though it can get much colder in the Atlas Mountains and much warmer in the desert. Though it gets chilly after dark, January days are often warm and sunny in Morocco. On average, January sees seven to eight days of rainfall.
Crowds & Costs
From a sightseeing perspective, January is an excellent time to visit Morocco, as crowds are fewer at major tourist attractions and many hotels offer low-season rates. If you have your heart set on a particular boutique hotel or riad, you’ll have better luck booking a stay in January—particularly in the second half of the month, when fewer travelers are competing for rooms.
Where to Go
Temperatures are relatively mild throughout the country in January, but major cities like Marrakech and Tangier tend to see more precipitation than usual. Bring an umbrella—or skip the rain entirely and head for the desert or the mountains. Destinations like Ouarzazate, offering easy access to the Sahara and the High Atlas range, are particularly pleasant (and dry) in January.
Another great option is the Atlantic coast, including the seaside city of Essaouira, where conditions are warmer than elsewhere in the country. Keep in mind when travel planning that southern Morocco is milder than northern Morocco in January, so the further south you go, the less you’ll need to bundle up in warm clothing.

What to Do
Thanks to the relatively cool weather, January is a good time to explore the Sahara Desert or hike in the High Atlas Mountains—though be aware that rain can make river levels rise in the mountains, rendering some trails unpassable. Trekking in the desert is a safer bet.
January is a calm time for sightseeing in cities like Fes and Marrakech, which tend to get overly busy with tourists during the high season. It’s also the perfect time to break out your camera: conditions for photography are optimal during winter in Morocco, when the air is clear and free of dust.
January Events
Yennayer. Morocco celebrates Yennayer, also known as the Amazigh New Year, on January 12-13. The festival marks the start of the crop year in traditional Berber communities across the country; celebrations are particularly lively in the Berber villages of the Middle Atlas Mountains, where the locals sing, dance, and prepare traditional foods. If you’d like to experience Yennayer, head for a town like Agadir or Tiznit.
Anniversary of the Independence Manifesto / Proclamation of Independence. Morocco’s official independence day is in March, but the country also celebrates its first attempt at independence from French colonial rule on January 11th. The Proclamation of Independence is a national holiday in Morocco, marked by street parades and festivals all over the country.

Moroccan Desert & Hiking in the Atlas Mountains. The desert is cool, dry, and clear in January. This eight-day itinerary starts and ends in (potentially rainy) Marrakech, whisking travelers away to the heights of the High Atlas Mountains and the expanses of the Sahara Desert—and into the home of a local family.
Morocco Grand Tour: Cities, Desert, & the Coast. Take in a bit of everything, from imperial cities to the mountains to the desert to the coast, on this ten-day grand tour of Morocco that begins and ends in Casablanca. Highlights include camping out in the desert, kitesurfing in the Atlantic, exploring the old medina of Fes, and a cooking class where you’ll learn how to cook tagine.

Why Sharm el Sheikh?
Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt was once one of the most popular holiday destinations for Brits until 2015, when a terror attack on a Russian passenger plane killed all 224 onboard.
All flights were stopped for four years, with TUI reintroducing holiday packages in 2019.
This was following the UK Foreign Office issuing new guidance which said Sharm el-Sheikh was considered safe after the airport security was overhauled.
However, just a few months later Covid hit – meaning the holiday resort once again saw tourist levels drop.
But with restrictions lifted, it is now the best time to visit – Sharm el Sheikh is ideal for winter sun as it rarely drops below 20C, even in December and January
The average temperature remains around 22C to 24C but reaches highs of 38C in August.
This means you should avoid the summer holiday months due to the extreme temperatures, with the best months being between December and February for winter sun.
Flights also aren’t much longer than the Canary Islands, with direct routes from London Stansted and London Gatwick around five hours.
