The Reyes Magos arrive in Tenerife from the Orient on the evening of January 5th. They visit towns and villages all over the island in parades known as the Cabalgata de Reyes. From their elaborately decorated floats they throw sweets to all the children along the route and listen to the youngsters’s requests for presents.
The children receive their gifts that evening or the next morning (just in time to go back to school!). Christmas and New Year in Los Cristianos Tenerife
By C0rnw@11Latest News, Tenerife Info, Things to Do
Are you in Tenerife for Christmas or New Year this year? Are you thinking of going next year? It is a great place to be with lots of sunshine and traditional celebrations. Christmas and New Year in Los Cristianos, Tenerife is a magical time for couples and families alike.
You can be on the beach (with average daytime temperatures of 22°C) in the morning and playing in the snow up Mount Teide in the afternoon, so you don’t have to miss the snow & cold! With sunset at 6pm the longer days will keep you smiling.
Christmas Traditions
One Spanish tradition at Christmas is the Belén (Nativity scenes) which are in most towns. Some are quite large and even have a mini village. Try to see if you can find some while on holiday. Our children loved looking at all the characters.
In the supermarkets, at this time of year, you will find lots of different types of turrón. It’s is a traditional sweet eaten at Christmas time, made of honey, eggs, and almonds.
The Spanish families don’t celebrate Christmas Day like we do (however it is still a bank holiday). Christmas Eve is very important as families gather together at their homes in the evening to have a big family meal then go to La Misa Del Gallo (Midnight Mass).
They don’t celebrate Boxing Day, so all the shops will be open as normal. However, watch out for 28th December El Día de Los Santos Inocentes (Holy Innocents Day) which is a bit like our April’s fools day!
Spanish children have to wait until Los Reyes Magos (the 3 kings) arrive to get their presents. The Cabalgata (parade) happens on the evening of 5th January through Los Cristianos, where Melchor, Gaspar, and Baltasar throw sweets out to the children. They then receive the gifts on the morning of the 6th January.
New Year’s Eve in Los Cristianos
New Year’s Eve is a big, family-friendly, celebration with live music, dancing and partying in the streets. The main action is normally around the cultural centre or church square in Los Cristianos. The tradition is to eat 12 green grapes, one at each stroke of midnight, to bring luck for each of the following 12 months. And if you want to find love next year – wear red underwear!
At midnight there will be lots of fireworks from all different places, we always found the best place to see them all from was the beach in Los Cristianos. From there you can see many displays going on around town. They are amazing!
The sales in Tenerife don’t start until 7th January after their celebrations have finished on 6th so don’t get too excited on boxing day.

Teenager Determined To End The Captivity Of Dolphins In Spain
Environment
08/07/2022
Valencia News
A 15-year-old girl is determined to eradicate the captivity of dolphins in Spain. She has launched a public awareness campaign that may cause a stir..
Nearly 120,000 people are backing a petition, set up by 15-year-old Olivia Mandle, that calls for the Spanish government to end the captivity of dolphins in Spain and shut down dolphinariums.
Spain has the most dolphinariums in the EU, with 11 parks showcasing captive cetaceans. One of the most infamous is Loro Parque, in Tenerife, was recently featured in Blackfish, a Netflix documentary that focused on US marine park Seaworld and the dangers and ethics of keeping orcas in captivity. And another one, Oceanografic, in Valencia, is probably the biggest place in Europe where dolphins are kept captive.
Like orcas, dolphins need a lot of space to swim around. In the wild, they can swim up to 80 miles a day. But in captivity, on average, they have around 200,000 times less space, says World Animal Protection.
This means they cannot engage in their natural behaviors. And as a result, they can get bored, aggressive, and even self-harm.
In the petition, Mandle writes:
“Aquapolis, the water park in Tarragona, had 9 captive dolphins for years and although this weekend it has decided to close its dolphinarium, once again they have treated these living beings as mere objects of economic interest.
And they fly them (it must be very nice for them) to another aquarium in China.
But they say they had to find a place to ensure the welfare of these animals.
SHAMEFUL LIE AND HUMAN AGGRESS.
What terrible legal gaps exist so that this “transaction” could have been carried out.
These animals need to be transferred to a marine sanctuary and try to give them an opportunity so that, even if it is little, they can taste something as close as possible to what their life could and should have been.
Let’s stop doing business with these or any animals.
For a Law Prohibiting Dolphinariums and shows in this country, sign my campaign: #noespaisparadelfines @change_es
Spain is the largest dolphin prison in Europe and the 6th in the world. Let’s stop this billionaire business.”
Mandle also refers to Barcelona’s decision in 2018 to become a dolphin captivity-free city. It was a start. But as the teen notes, the animals that lived there have simply been moved to another dolphinarium in a different country. She is calling for Spain to set an example and ban the captivity of dolphins in Spain once for all.
“It is not normal to lock these animals in small pools day and night for the rest of their lives,” Mandle writes.
The UK, Chile, India, Costa Rica, Norway, and Brazil are among the countries that have already banned dolphin captivity.
In 2020, the Jane Goodall Institute’s Roots & Shoots program recognized Mandle as a “mini-heroine.” The young activist set up the dolphinarium petition when she was 13, but it is still gaining significant traction.
In the country that can still not agree should the bullfights be banned, this is a big ask. Also, if we look at the Oceanografic in Valencia, it must be noted that this is the biggest tourist attraction in the city (together with the City of Arts and Sciences), so it is very hard to imagine that eventual decision to ban the captivity of dolphins in Spain, would have any support from the local government.

dolphins they are beautiful and super smart. These are marine mammals, cetaceans and there are 34 species . Did you know? I love them, but I think they are animals and should be left alone, so I don’t quite understand the desire of tourists for people to interact with them …
But then the question is, Can you swim with dolphins in Spain ? ? Basically, is not. Environmental groups assured this, but still there are several places where you can somehow see them up close. Let’s find out a little more about the subject.
As we have already said, swimming with dolphins is quite difficult in Spain because is prohibited . However, there are a few places where yes there is a dolphin show and even if it is, you can be close by, such as Madrid Zoo or Barcelona Zoo.
To interact more with them, you must upgrade to Benidorm in Mundomar , Acqui Seno one of the best dolphinariums in Europe not only with dolphins but also other marine animals such as turtles, sea lions, otters, flamingos… There are 80 species in total and this is also the place where you can practice dolphin therapy.
Mundomar offers half-hour encounters with dolphins, always in the presence of caretakers or trainers who teach the public the most interesting aspects of the life of these fabulous animals. Going with the kids is a great plan . The moment lasts 30 minutes and includes a meeting with the animals, two photos that will forever remember the contact, a gift towel, a backpack and a small bottle of mineral water.
Here It is advisable to book in advance. , within at least a week, via the online store or by sending an email to [email protected] with the name, surname, mobile phone number, number of children and adults and the time of interest (which can be at 12 or 16 hours).
You can also call by phone, all information on the site. That yes you need to be able to swim and not have mental disabilities, not be pregnant and if you are a child, you are from 5 to 12 years old and you cannot swim, you must be accompanied by an adult. This activity takes place from March to December, every day , and the price is 80 euros per adult and 55 euros per child.
Another place in Spain where you can meet dolphins is Catalonia – Aquopolis. This place is on the Costa Dorada, in La Pineda, not far from Salou, and it is a beautiful place. water park . You interact with the dolphins through a tour with a educational conversation and a small interaction that allows you to touch the animals, always under the watchful eye of the keepers.
Obviously you can take pictures. Today the price is 74 euros per adult and child. Children must be at least seven years old and be at least 1.15 meters tall. Persons between the ages of 7 and 10 must be accompanied by an adult who is also participating in the meeting.
en la Valencia you can also meet dolphins. Where? In Oceanography in Valencia and with an Animalia passport. You will not only be able to meet dolphins but also sea lions and learn all about the life of these fantastic animals. And you will take a photo for memory. What is the fee for this event? EUR 44.70 per adult and EUR 37 per child.
To see the Valencia dolphins, children must be at least six years old, and if they are between six and twelve years old, they must also be accompanied by an adult. The interesting thing here is that if you are interested in the work of guardians, you can become one of them for a day. Yes, You can be a trainer for a day and find out how they take care of the animals. Extra: the opportunity to sleep with sharks is offered even for 90 euros.
El The Selwo Marina is located in Malaga , in the municipality of Benalmadena. Here in the dolphinarium there is an underwater track, semi-submerged, so that you can take a closer look at the animals. The games are organized, you can take pictures and touch the dolphins. when these actions are completed. The bet per child is 39euros, and for an adult – 74 euros, depending on the season.
The minimum age for children to enjoy this experience in Malaga is 5 years old and yes, if they are between 5 and 7 years old, they must be in the arms of an adult. They also cannot be less than 1.25 meters in height, and if so, also in the presence of an adult next to them.
These are the places where you can interact with dolphins in Spain. Please note that I am not talking about swimming because, as we said at the beginning, this activity is prohibited in the country. It’s about interaction, closeness, touching them and not much else. .
Outside of Spain, although close, there is still a little more to do. in Portugal, in Zoomarina. Here yes, you can swim Well, you can get into a huge lagoon surrounded by plants and white sand. It’s more expensive, but worth it: 125 euros depending on the season.
But isn’t there another place in Spain? Well, you can go to the Atlantic coast and sign up for a tour that will allow you to see them in their natural habitat. Yes indeed. There are tours of this type. in the Canary Islands for example, but it is still forbidden to swim with each other.
Actually, I think it’s ideal not to swim with dolphins. Keeping animals deprived of their liberty seems to me a horror very typical of the 19th century, doesn’t it? What is the need to maintain such places today if you can travel or watch them on TV or the Internet? Yes, I know swimming with dolphins must be a wonderful and truly unforgettable experience, but should these animals be disturbed, disturbed in boats filled with tourists, or locked in dolphinariums for people to touch and photograph?
If this activity interests you anyway, my advice is: look to dive or swim among the dolphins in the wild . Doing this with free animals is wonderful and very different from interacting with animals indoors, as it only encourages hunting.

You’re quite right to be dreaming about which beach you’ll be sipping your Christmas cocktails on, says flight comparison site Skyscanner, which has handily trawled through its data over the last two years to reveal its Christmas holiday hacks, including the best-value destination, when to book, and the cheapest day to fly.
Tenerife comes out top as the best-value vacation spot for your Christmas break. With balmy temperatures hovering around 200C, it’s the ideal short-haul festive escape.

Tenerife is followed by Palma (pictured below) as the second best-value destination, with Prague, Buenos Aires (pictured above), and Budapest rounding up the top five.

The cheapest day to fly is actually the 23rd December, while it may surprise some travellers to know that flying on Christmas Day is the most expensive.
Lisa added: “With many still enjoying the late summer sunshine it might feel strange to be thinking about Christmas, however for those looking to grab a bargain flight this festive season now is the time to start.”
Westend61
She continued: “Looking at our flight data we can see that the best time to book flights for Christmas tends to be 13 weeks in advance of travel, although looking back over the years we have found that travellers have a tendency to book last minute.
“It might also surprise some to know that flying out on Christmas Day is in fact the most expensive over the festive period. Flying out on the 23rd December is the cheapest day to fly out, saving 16% and if you want to avoid the crowds then avoid the Friday before Christmas as our data shows that this is usually the busiest day for travel. “

Actually, we planned to go to Teide – it’s a volcano in the center of the island, well, or go for a walk somewhere … But when we woke up, we realized that the weather leaves much to be desired – it was cloudy and it was going to rain. It was extremely strange, because Tenerife is an island where it rains 2 days a year :). In general, we were lucky :). On the other hand, this did not mean that the weather was exactly the same on the other side of the island, but we decided not to risk it and go shopping, since we also planned the day for this. nine0006 Guidebooks recommended to go shopping in the capital, in fact, we went there.
On the way we stopped at the port of Los Cristianos. Ferries go from it to the nearest neighbor of Tenerife – the island of Gomera. At first they saw an advertisement on the wall – 3 men and a car – 99 euros. We rejoiced. They began to find out, it turns out that this is a price tag for the natives. For foreigners – please, the same but around 360… Unfair… Finally took a picture of a cloudy ferry in the port. Apparently, we are not destined to come here again. nine0006
There is nothing special to write about, we spent the whole day in the store. Expensive branded items are indeed cheaper. Perfume, cosmetics, about the same. There were no special discounts for clothes :).
Dined there. I must say that the staff in restaurants in English is not belmes at all. I had to explain myself almost on the fingers. The menu in English is also a great luxury. Therefore, the order looked something like this: “Give me over there what lies in that plate over there from that visitor” :). nine0006 The men ordered a strange-looking shish kebab from different types of meat, which was served in a suspended state. Vkuuuusny.
Crawled out of the store when it was getting dark. Needless to say, the weather hasn’t improved much. We walked a little around the new Concert Hall. The building, I must say, is grandiose. Both the design itself and the feeling of its perception are striking. From different sides – it is completely different, from every angle – a new vision. Plus, when the lights were turned on, the surface of the concert hall sparkled with light reflections. It is lined with white shiny mosaic, so from a huge snow-white helmet, the structure suddenly turned into a giant iceberg. nine0006 Well, these are my personal associations :).
In general, it was built according to the project neither more nor less than Leonardo da Vinci Himself and, according to the plan, it represents the head of a cobra.

Introduction: My name is Reed Wilderman, I am a faithful, bright, lucky, adventurous, lively, rich, vast person who loves writing and wants to share my knowledge and understanding with you.
Just like March, the weather continues to get warmer in Los Gigantes, Tenerife in April, when the spring season is well under way. At this time of year, the average temperature for the resort is around 19.5°C, made up of highs of 23°C during the daytime and lows of 16°C after dark. The highest temperature ever recorded in Los Gigantes in April is 37°C, whilst the lowest temperature ever registered in the resort at this time of year is 6°C.
As April progresses, the temperature tends to get warmer, making the final week of the month the best time to go if you want to experience the resort when it’s at its warmest.
However, whichever part of the month you choose to visit, you’ll need to pack light beach clothes for during the daytime and warm clothes, such as coats, jumpers and jeans, to keep you comfortable on an evening.
If you love the heat and would rather visit Los Gigantes when temperatures are at their highest, forget about April and visit in August or September instead, when the resort is usually hottest.
Rain
Across the month, Los Gigantes is subject to around 22mm/1 inch of rainfall spread out between two rainy days that’s almost double the previous month. With such a small amount of precipitation falling on so few days, chances are your holiday in Los Gigantes in April won’t be affected by rainfall in the slightest.
The likelihood of rainfall occurring steadily decreases as the month develops, making the last week of April the best time to visit if you want to keep the risk of showers to a minimum. If you are unlucky enough to experience some precipitation during your holiday, it will most probably be drizzle (which falls on 41% of days with rainfall), moderate rain (30%), light rain (20%) or heavy rain (7%).
Sunshine Hours
Over the course of an average April, Los Gigantes boasts 11 hours of daily sunshine that’s one hour more each day than in March with, alongside an average relative humidity of 66% and relatively cool temperatures, make this time of year ideal of travellers who enjoy mild sunshine but can’t stand extremely high temperatures.
Sea Temperature
The average sea temperature for the waters surrounding Los Gigantes is 20°C in April that’s 1°C warmer than last month which is considered too cold to go swimming. If you really want to take a dip during your April holiday in Los Gigantes, stick to the heated and indoor swimming pools.
Wind
The resort sees hardly any strong winds at all throughout the year. In April, the average daily wind speed is around 21 km/h that’s 1 km/h more than in March with the maximum sustained wind speed recorded in recent times being 96 km/h.
Los Gigantes Hotels In April
Apartamentos Poblado Marinero
If you want to be as close to the sea as possible, consider staying at Apartamentos Poblado Marinero. Located alongside the marina, within easy walking distance of the beach, water sport kiosks, excursion companies, bars, shops, supermarkets and restaurants, this complex provides accommodation in the form of one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments which can sleep between three and six guests, respectively. Onsite services and facilities include swimming pool, pool bar, a la carte restaurant, WiFi access and games room with pool table, books and magazines.
Villa Las Brisas
If you’re holidaying as a group of six, consider staying at Villa Las Brisas. Supermarkets and restaurants are just a seven-minute walk away, four tennis courts five minutes away and six golf courses within a 45-minute driving radius.
Bars And Restaurants
Tas-K
If you’re in the mood for some seafood or Canarian cuisine, pop into Tas-K. This small and friendly restaurant doesn’t offer a menu instead, your server will come over and tell you what is being prepared freshly that day. There is always a selection of al la carte mains, as well as a choice of tapas and a few handmade desserts. Although the food is said to be superb, the hand-crafted cocktails are said to be even better, with the caipirinhas taking centre stage.
Richardsons
For an eatery with a British pub grub-style atmosphere, try Richardsons. Here you’ll find a well stocked bar with a local and international selection of beers, wines, spirits, cocktails and soft drinks, plus a small bar food menu, with classics such as pizza, gammon, baked potatoes and steaks. Live sporting events and soap operas are also regularly shown on large-screen TVs both inside and outside the restaurant.
Things To Do In Los Gigantes In April
Maritima Acantilados
Los Gigantes is best known for its iconic cliffs which seem to burst out of the ocean and rise into the sky. Whilst you can admire the cliffs from the shore of the resort, the best way to see them is by signing up for a boat trip with Maritima Acantilados. Each boat trip begins at the harbour in Los Gigantes and sails past these cliffs from which you can take fantastic photos. Since this part of the sea is so popular with whales and dolphins, there’s also a great chance you’ll see some local marine life on your trip.
Puerto Santiago
At the other end of the scale, Crab Island is one of the least well-known parts of the resort. Although it’s not actually an island, this part of Tenerife is an exclusive area tucked in between Los Gigantes and Puerto Santiago. Here you’ll find a large number of rock pools which provide hours of entertainment for children on the lookout for marine life and shells. If the sea is calm enough, some of the rock pools are even large enough to safely swim in, too.

We base the humidity comfort level on the dew point, as it determines whether perspiration will evaporate from the skin, thereby cooling the body. Lower dew points feel drier and higher dew points feel more humid. Unlike temperature, which typically varies significantly between night and day, dew point tends to change more slowly, so while the temperature may drop at night, a muggy day is typically followed by a muggy night.
The chance that a given day will be muggy in Los Gigantes is essentially constant during April, remaining around 0% throughout.
For reference, on September 1, the muggiest day of the year, there are muggy conditions 47% of the time, while on January 14, the least muggy day of the year, there are muggy conditions 0% of the time.

Temperature and Dew Point
There are 2 weather stations near enough to contribute to our estimation of the temperature and dew point in Los Gigantes.
For each station, the records are corrected for the elevation difference between that station and Los Gigantes according to the International Standard Atmosphere , and by the relative change present in the MERRA-2 satellite-era reanalysis between the two locations.
The estimated value at Los Gigantes is computed as the weighted average of the individual contributions from each station, with weights proportional to the inverse of the distance between Los Gigantes and a given station.
The stations contributing to this reconstruction are:
Tenerife South Airport (GCTS, 83%, 21 mi, southeast, 131 ft elevation change)
La Palma Airport (GCLA, 17%, 62 mi, northwest, 30 ft elevation change)
To get a sense of how much these sources agree with each other, you can view a comparison of Los Gigantes and the stations that contribute to our estimates of its temperature history and climate. Please note that each source’s contribution is adjusted for elevation and the relative change present in the MERRA-2 data.
Other Data
All data relating to the Sun’s position (e.g., sunrise and sunset) are computed using astronomical formulas from the book, Astronomical Algorithms 2nd Edition , by Jean Meeus.
All other weather data, including cloud cover, precipitation, wind speed and direction, and solar flux, come from NASA’s MERRA-2 Modern-Era Retrospective Analysis . This reanalysis combines a variety of wide-area measurements in a state-of-the-art global meteorological model to reconstruct the hourly history of weather throughout the world on a 50-kilometer grid.
Land Use data comes from the Global Land Cover SHARE database , published by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
Elevation data comes from the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) , published by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
Names, locations, and time zones of places and some airports come from the GeoNames Geographical Database .
Time zones for airports and weather stations are provided by AskGeo.com .
The information on this site is provided as is, without any assurances as to its accuracy or suitability for any purpose. Weather data is prone to errors, outages, and other defects. We assume no responsibility for any decisions made on the basis of the content presented on this site.
We draw particular cautious attention to our reliance on the MERRA-2 model-based reconstructions for a number of important data series. While having the tremendous advantages of temporal and spatial completeness, these reconstructions: (1) are based on computer models that may have model-based errors, (2) are coarsely sampled on a 50 km grid and are therefore unable to reconstruct the local variations of many microclimates, and (3) have particular difficulty with the weather in some coastal areas, especially small islands.
We further caution that our travel scores are only as good as the data that underpin them, that weather conditions at any given location and time are unpredictable and variable, and that the definition of the scores reflects a particular set of preferences that may not agree with those of any particular reader.

Things To Do
Acua Waterpark
The Acua Waterpark is one of the top attractions on the island of Fuerteventura and offers fun for all the family. Easily accessible on the fringes of Corralejo, the park features a range of different water slides for visitors of all ages, with a wave pool and Jacuzzi for those who want to relax. There is also a splash pool for the youngest visitors to enjoy.
Corralejo Market
Held twice a week next to the waterpark, the market in Corralejo is great for picking up a souvenir to take back home, with a range of stalls offering locally produced goods. Be ready to haggle with the sellers if you want to get the best deals.
Grande Playa Beach
Grande Playa Beach sits to the south of Corralejo and it isn’t hard to see why it is one of the best beaches to be found anywhere on the island. The golden sands run for nearly 10km along the coast towards the capital Puerto del Rosario and are backed by stunning dunes that are worth exploring in their own right.
Music Square
Corralejo isn’t the most lively resort on the Canary Islands but that doesn’t mean you won’t find something to keep you entertained when the sun goes down. Music Square is one of the best places to try, with a range of bars and restaurants as well as an open-air stage where various performers will showcase their acts.
Lobos Island
Lobos Island is a small nature reserve that is located on an island off the coast of Fuerteventura that can be easily accessed via ferry from Corralejo. On a day trip, you can explore the native flora and fauna on the island although it should be noted that access is limited to certain areas to aid conservation.
Harbour
The harbour area within Corralejo is the ideal place to go if you want to enjoy some fine dining with the best views of the surrounding sea. Sample top class seafood that has been caught that day or simply relax with a drink as you watch the boats bobbing in the water.

Beautiful safe water park
Jan 2023 • Couples
This water park is fab for all ages, especially for youngerchildren. The dolphin show is superb, theres no queing for slids like Siem Park, its relaxed for bringing in own food and drink etc and way cheaper than Siem park.its a fab day out and so pretty, will definatly go again with grand children, it is ideal if you have toddlers

Has potential but falls short…
Jan 2023 • Family
The park clearly has potential, walking in and they have clearly thought about the theming and really stuck to it, however…
We picked this park due to it advising they have heated pools, including a heated spa area. This added to the more child friendly rides advertised meant it seemed ideal for a 3 year old in January.
However, all of the water areas were absolutely freezing. The wave pool was the warmest with the shallow toddler areas/“thermo” spa feeling like they could ice over at any time.
The lazy river was shut and this wasn’t advertised anywhere until we got into the venue.
The flooring was really uneven in parts. The brickwork was chipped leaving both the uneven elements but also stones/dust to walk through.
Food wasn’t bad quality but a little overpriced. We got a similar meal at Loro Parque and paid nearly €15 less (for slightly more food I should add).
Paying for sunbeds was an extra charge to consider.
Dolphin show was good which helped keep it at 3 stars.

Nice experience
Jan 2023 • Family
Best part of our experience was a dolphin show, worth watching, overall place is ok, expensive food but you can leave the place to eat somewhere else so that wasn’t a problem, I advice everyone to wear wet shoes all the time as the ground is very rough.

The pavements are dangerous
Dec 2022 • Family
Went to aqua land because we had younger grandchildren The pavement areas were awful It was like walking on broken tiles All the pools were cold even the jacuzzi 🥶🥶🥶🥶
The best bit of the day was dolphin show and the dolphin experience.
Would not recommend aqua land But if you do visit make sure you take some pool shoes or flip flops to walk between the sides

waste of money for an outdated waterpark, more like a building site
Dec 2022
Went to Aqualand on the 18 Dec with my 2 children, spent €93 on 3 tickets and within 30 mins we left to go back to Siam Park for a second visit.
Aqualand felt more like a building site.
The pathways near the pool was covered with broken tiles/slabs and just left there for people to walk over. The pool was supposed to be heated but was cold. The rides felt unsafe and kept being stuck on the way down. The inflatable rings were very dirty and didn’t really wanted to use them.
The whole place just felt battered and not looked after, even though we wasted €93 we were happy to leave the park.

Avoid unless you intend to do the €100 pp dolphin experience
Dec 2022 • Family
Honestly the dolphin encounter saved the day.. that was 5* experience! but without that sadly this park would be getting a 1* .. the parks in major need of renovation, the lazy river was fully closed and half dug up which I would expect to be explained on the website which it wasn’t! The ground is rough and very uncomfortable to walk on bare foot. . not usually one for reviews but this had to be done.. Siam park is miles ahead.. if I hadn’t already booked and paid for the dolphin encounter we would have left and gone back to Siam!

Great for younger children
Nov 2022 • Family
Really fun for little ones – plenty of space and things to do. The “bigger” rides and the park itself are a bit battered. Some attractions feel unsafe; the floats are old and not all of them fully inflated, so you get stuck sometimes, or slam your behind quite hard. Great thing is having to pay for sunbeds, so there are plenty of them available and they are comftable. The food at the fast food restaurant is good, service friendly and fast. Also the shop staff are really helpful and professional, amongst other things they sell really nice swimwear at totally low prices. The dolphin show is amazing. It’s just a shame that when you take pictures with them, you only get a few seconds. A word or two wouldn’t hurt, especially on a quiet day. It’s something special for a child so it should also feel that way. For 25 € per picture, a 5 second encounter seems a bit rushed. We are deffinitely visiting again. There is room for improvement, but still worth visiting.

Sad…
Nov 2022 • Solo
Quite sad. Only plus was that it was quiet and not not much people (I wonder why 😳). Lazy river was closed for maintenance. SPA that was supposed to be heated was the coldest pool of all. I asked if it was hot yesterday, or tomorrow. Lifeguard said – no. I asked if it will be warm ever. He said – no. Slides are… umm… ok, but not worth it. So I paid 38 eur for ticket, 5 eur for a locker. A sunbed is 2 eur extra(why???). So in total 35 eur. Siam Park is 40 eye and no extra charges. I had so much more fun there last year 😉

Family trip in November
Nov 2022 • Family
Me, my husband, our 4yr old & 1yr attended at the end of November. The park was very quiet! So that was a plus. I ’d say the park is just very run down, we couldn’t go on the bigger slides as my little boy was too small so just referring to the smaller rides.. my husband went on a flume & scratched his back, when you come off the slides you hit the concrete floor which is uncomfortable, they could just put some crash mats at the bottom. I think the lazy river was closed but it didn’t look very appealing, all quite dirty 🙁 The thing that really annoyed us was, the extras. . 5 euros for a locker & 2 euro deposit, then we seen there was beds, but they were 2 euros each or 4 if you had padding! Ok then the food.. £7 euros for chips!!! 3.50 for water.. We normally always just pay but that’s crazy! We watched the dolphin show, that was really good. All in all I’d pay the extra for Siam park next time

What is the Aqualand Water Park Tenerife?
The Aqualand Water Park (Tenerife) is an impressive theme park filled with exciting water slides, dizzying attractions, and relaxing lazy rivers. You’ll find everything from rides with 100-meter drops to child-friendly pirate ports – making it a perfect way to spend a day with the whole family.
Where is Aqualand Tenerife?
This aquatic paradise is located in Tenerife, Spain. It’s a well-marked location with its official address as Av. Austria 15.
The easiest way to get there is by taking a bus straight to Aqualand. Costa Adeje (Tenerife, Spain) is a popular tourist destination – and a relatively small island. So driving a car might not be your preferred method of transport. Luckily, there is plenty of public transport and the bus system that goes to and from Aqualand is quite simple.
There is a well-known beach area near the Aqualand Waterpark – Playa de Las Americas. Costa Adeje is full of family-friendly activities to make your vacation an unforgettable one!
Aqualand Tenerife Attractions
The Aqualand Waterpark (Costa Adeje) is home to several exhilarating rides for those adrenaline-seeking parkgoers. Here, you’ll be able to refresh and cool off – all while getting the thrills you were looking for.
Here are some of our favorite rides at the water park Aqualand Tenerife:
Tsunami – A 21-meters high wave that will bring you down its long descent through an eye-popping boomerang.
Ciclones – 21-meters high and filled to the bring with dizzying 12-meter bowls that will spin you as you descend through its 360-degree twists and exciting lighting effects.
Gravity – Enjoy the twists and turns on this 20-meter tall ride and don’t be surprised by its 3 striking drops.
Rapids – Fewers drops – just as much adrenaline. Rapids features several twists and turns at higher speeds and shorter drops to give you that constant adrenaline rush.
Kamikazes – The ultimate rush – super high speed dropping at a considerable angle – this is for the true adrenaline-lovers.
Tornado – A centrifugal ride that shows you the true strength of water.
Multisurf – Race your friends down this 100-meter drop on the 6-lane track.
Twister Racer – Another 14-meter high race track to compete with your family and friends.
Flying Boats – 2 parallel slides spiraling, dropping, and racing through this 272-meter long track.
Aqualand Tenerife Height Restrictions
Aqualand is the preferred destination for families with young children as the height requirements are much lower compared to other theme parks.
The majority of the adrenaline-seeking rides have a minimum height of 1.2 meters and are much safer for younger children. This means you and your family will be able to enjoy all of the rides together without worrying about any unexpected dangers.
If your child doesn’t yet meet the height requirement of 120cm, there are still plenty of attractions you can go on – including some of the lighter thrill-seeking rides.
Kidzworld – Aqualand Costa Adeje
The water park Aqualand (Tenerife) isn’t only full of exciting rides for adults – there are plenty of attractions suitable for the youngest visitors. Kidzworld is dedicated to rides, pirate coves, and pools that are perfect for younger children.
Pirate Port – Head over to Puerto Pirata to enjoy a wonderland of coves, slides, tunnels, hiding places, and a surprise waterfall. Children will love the pirate-themed attraction where they can live out their dreams.
Mega Adventure Land – 6 different slides suitable for kids. They’ll go down a float or a mat and race down a variety of slides.
Kids Pool – Let the littlest ones cool off safely. Small, colorful slides, shallow pools, and extra security let them play to their hearts’ content – and give the parents some relax time.
Adventure Island – The newest attraction full of entertainment for kids. Enjoy scenic decoration, thematic environments, and plenty of adventure for all!
Aqualand Tenerife Chillout Spots
Whether you’re 4 or 40 – sometimes you just want to relax in the waterpark, rather than heading out for a thrill. Head over to Aqualand Tenerife’s most relaxing areas where you can experience cool, well-deserved tranquility.
Family & Child Wave Pool – A well-controlled wave pool transformed for maximum relaxation.
Hydromassage – The thematic heated spa lets you lay out, enjoy a hydro shower, and really make the most of your vacation.
Lava River – A 500-meter lazy river that is filled with plants, a waterfall, and a volcano that lets you live your best island dreams. Sit back on the floating ring and soak up the sun.
Aqualand Tenerife Dolphin Show
Of course we can’t talk about the most amazing Aqualand experience without mentioning the daily dolphin show. The Aqualand Water Park (Costa Adeje) features an impressive dolphinarium with 12 bottlenose dolphins.
The Aqua Land Dolphin show was voted as one of the best dolphin shows in the world! If you’re spending a day here with the family – this is one show you don’t want to miss.
This conservation center is designed to protect the marine animals, generate awareness, and study them in a safe environment. You can head over to Dolphin Planet to learn more about these animals and enjoy watching them swim in the underwater section.
The star show of Aqualand Tenerife is the daily training show at 15:30. Here, you’ll watch the trained Aqualand experts carry out an impressive show full of leaps, jumps, and tons of educational tidbits about the beloved marine life.

Very good
Close to the ocean (one of the best beaches in Adeje)
Very close to an inexpensive supermarket, many restaurants, cafes and souvenir shops. Siam Park is a 15-minute walk. Delicious breakfasts, dinners. At the reception, they try to solve problems immediately. Nice, smiling staff
Wifi only at the reception, but for us it was not a problem.
On the day of arrival, we arrived at 11, we were told that check-in was at 2, after waiting 3 hours, at the appointed time we were told that the room was not ready and we had to wait another 1.5 hours, despite the fact that we had a small child with us. spoiled the rest, this time sunbathing by the pool with suitcases).

Not bad
Previously, when we booked this hotel, we were asked to settle on the upper floors and that there should be as little noise as possible, i.e. away from the pool, because we were traveling with a small child 1.3 years old. We must pay tribute to our request, 100% lived on the 5th floor with a gorgeous view of the ocean. The lobby is large and very comfortable. As for the silence, it was also quite comfortable. nine0003
Indeed, the furniture and renovation in the room left much to be desired… But in principle, they did not really count on more, because everything was clear from the reviews and the price…
The most negative thing is the cleaning and cleanliness of bed linen and towels. ..horrible.
Cleaned 1r a week and then this is a miserable semblance of cleaning …
Towels are all dirty…

We’ve gathered some of the best places to visit in April in Europe where you can enjoy the scenery and discover some hidden gems. As winter begins to fade and the sun’s rays begin to peek out in April, it is a sign that Spring is around the corner – at least in Europe. European Spring can be a bit chilly, but it is the perfect time to pack your bags and head to your favorite destination.
Besides the warm weather, many popular cities in the continent attract fewer crowds, allowing you to explore famous sights without distractions. If you wonder which European city is warm in April and worth visiting, below is a list to help you out.
Visit Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain
Average Temperature: High: 72F/22C, Low: 61F/16C
If you are a beach lover, southwest Tenerife is the best destination to visit and enjoy warm weather. Although the temperatures may seem a bit chilly for some, it’s actually pretty warm, with most visitors making their way to the beach to sunbathe.
If you want to avoid the crowded beaches like Playa de las Américas, you can visit other hidden gems in the Canary Islands. Some of the less known attractions on the island include Masca Bay which can be explored up close on a boat. Its dramatic shoreline has gigantic cliffs that are quite captivating, with waters colliding on them continuously.
Perfect for April: Antalya, Turkey
Average Temperature: High: 71F/22C, Low: 51F/11C
In April, the Mediterranean town of Antalya attracts thousands of visitors from Europe and beyond. The sunny weather gives them a chance to sunbathe and relax on some of the best beaches, including Cirali, Patara and Lara beach.
Antalya is also a popular cultural destination besides the beaches because of the roman and ancient Greek ruins peppered across the historic city. It is also surrounded by mountains and expansive meadows that are worth checking out.
If you are willing to go beyond the norm, you will discover Antalya has several undiscovered attractions such as Kıraç Kaleiçi Müzesi. The museum comprises traditional houses preserved to showcase local culture and its essential elements.
The Çığlıkara Nature Reserve is another hidden gem in Antalya with 400 plant species and diverse wildlife, including jackals. The reserve is an actual paradise and can be explored using marked paths.
After ending your trip to Antalya, you will surely also think it’s one of the best places to visit in April!
One of the best places to visit in April is definitely Florence, Italy
Average Temperature: High: 66F/19C, Low: 46F/8C
Pleasant weather is the norm in April, with many visitors making their way to the famous Italian city. The culture, architecture and monuments in the city make it a city worth exploring.
Its famous museums and galleries like Palazzo Pitti and Ufizi Gallery are a great place to interact with renaissance art across several fields. If you prefer spending time in less-known attractions, hike up the hill to San Miniato al Monte. The basilica provides a scenic view of the city without the hassle of large crowds. Its exterior is also beautifully adorned with Renaissance frescoes and large marble pillars.
Exploring vineyards in the Tuscany wine region within Florence is a great way to spend Spring in the city. You can be part of a winery tour to vineyards like Felsina, Podere Le Ripi and Volpaia, considered hidden gems in the city.
Undiscovered attractions in Nice, France
Average Temperature: High: 62F/17C, Low: 50F/10C
Nice can get very crowded during the summer months, making it one of the best places to visit in April and enjoy the city’s best sights.
The weather is warm, making it the ideal time to walk through outdoor markets shopping for souvenirs. Strolling on the private or public beaches spread across the city is also an excellent way to relax and interact with locals.
Although Nice is famous for its beautiful beaches, it has other undiscovered attractions worth visiting. Some of these attractions include Légion d’Honneur Garden, a perfect location to take a break and enjoy some quiet time or a picnic. The garden is filled with plenty of unique succulents and benches for relaxing while taking in its beauty.
The Baroque church of Saint Rita is an ecclesiastical building hidden between the narrow streets of Nice. It’s beautiful and calm interior with ornate carving and frescoed ceilings make it worth the visit.
Average Temperature: High: 64F/18C, Low: 47F/8C
April in Barcelona is associated with fewer crowds and warm weather, resulting in more time spent outdoors. The city is known for its beautiful architecture, and most of its landmarks center around traditional and modern art. Strolling through the streets of Barcelona alone or on a walking tour is a great way to explore the city.
If you prefer to take the off-beaten path when visiting Barcelona, you are in for a treat. The city has a handful of places hidden away, such as bunkers Del Carmel, filled with wartime bunkers perfect for a 360-degree view of Barcelona. The Horta Labyrinth is another hidden gem just outside Barcelona, with a real-life maze covering 820 yards.
Split, Croatia – blooming in April
Average Temperature: High: 63F/17C, Low: 51F/11C
Split may not be a popular tourist destination than Dubrovnik, but it is one of the best locations to visit in Europe. Its town centers have a rich history seen in its many archaeological landmarks such as Diocletian’s palace, which has been recognized as World Heritage sites.
Besides historical landmarks, Split has some less known attractions, such as Pazar Farmers Market that sells all types of green products. It is easy to miss because of its location but worth visiting to interact with its charming vendors. For the best Dalmatian dishes, visit Konoba Insula, a local Croatian restaurant. Its diverse menu makes it the perfect place for brunch or lunch.

Treat yourself in Budapest, Hungary

When compared to Prague, Budapest is much warmer, making it the perfect destination in April. The city has several sights popular with tourists, such as the Budapest History Museum and Chain Bridge built in the 19th Century.
If you prefer visiting attractions with lesser crowds, consider visiting the underground caves of Szemlő-hegyi and the larger Pál-völgy. The cave system is captivating and fun to explore, its twists and turns. Green spaces like Kopaszi Dam are also worth checking out and perfect for enjoying an afternoon picnic.
If you’re worrying about the prices in Budapest, you should know that the city is actually affordable. Don’t give it much thought if you’re planning on visiting it – it’s worth it! Especialli because it’s one of the best places to visit in April.

13 Surprising New Rules For Off-Season Travel in Europe
Cherry blossom time in Paris.
Getty
Off-season in Europe once meant a blissful stretch of months free from crowds, lower hotel prices and reasonably predictable weather. But with greater numbers of people on the move and warmer temperatures stretching peak season in certain countries well into fall, what’s a traveler to do to escape the hordes and lock in favorable hotel and airline rates? Here three travel experts give their take on the new rules for off-season travel: Anne Scully, president of McCabe World Travel, a member of Virtuoso, the network of luxury travel advisors, who is on Travel +Leisure’s Advisory Board; Joyce Falcone, owner of Italian Concierge, specialists in custom itineraries in Italy, and listed since 2009 on Travel + Leisure’s A-List of the World’s Top Travel Advisers; and Kayla Zeigler, founder of Destination Europe, a member of Virtuoso.
1. The off-season keeps shrinking.
The town of Amalfi.
Getty
Kayla Zeigler: October is now very much considered high season. Clients are traveling much later in the year, especially in Europe, to avoid the summer masses. Many hotels have changed their rates for peak pricing to run though the fall. I am thinking specifically of places like the Amalfi Coast.
Joyce Falcone: We have seen an increase in requests through the end of October. Low season in Italy is November to mid-March. By November 1, you can feel an ease, as Italy relaxes and settles into the winter pattern of school and routine and olive pressing.
2. April is the new June. The first weeks in June were once considered “shoulder season” in many parts of Europe. Now with increased demand, April is becoming a prime month for off-season travel.
Amsterdam during tulip season.
Getty
Anne Scully: So many countries are now listing April and May as great times and some even say best months to visit. Yes, there can be rain but not much. April is a great month to travel along the Mediterranean—for example Rome will be in the high 60s and by the end of month in the 70s (in August it can be in the high 90s). Places like Venice, Barcelona and Dubrovnik are also in the high 60s. April is one of the finest months to visit Amsterdam—enjoy those tulips all over Holland. You can beat the crowds with 60-degree-plus weather in Paris, London, Munich, Salzburg, Vienna, too.
Zeigler: I think shoulder season is now pushed back into early May. June is typically in full peak-season swing in most places, especially the large capital cities. We have more families traveling in June and July than any other month.
3.Warmer temperatures are extending peak season.
Cannes.
Getty
Scully: Because the weather has gotten much warmer over the last five years, hotels have adjusted their closing dates, especially in southern towns, like those along the Amalfi Coast. This area now has a longer season, but hotels must stay closed for repairs in the off-season.
Zeigler: In parts of Italy and France warm fall temperatures are now running into October and November. I have been attending ILTM (a luxury travel conference) in December in Cannes for the last five or six years, and for the most part the weather is glorious, sunny, not too hot, with people lying on the beach.
Falcone: In Italy, a small country with towns founded two thousand years ago that still have medieval walls within, [in many instances] hoteliers don’t have the possibility of expanding their properties to satisfy the continued requests for availability, other than to extend high-season rates. For 2019 we have noted that rates have risen for all levels of accommodations in season as demand grows.
4. Because summers have been hotter, September and October are becoming the new August.
Zeigler: Summers have become hotter, even in the mountains. It is something we have to pay close attention to now. We sell a lot of mountain destinations in the Swiss Alps, Austrian Alps and northern European destinations like Ireland and England, where many hotels built hundreds of years ago do not have air conditioning. [Some] old manor-house hotels, even with five-stars, don’t have it, although many have been retrofitted over the years trying to accommodate the demands of their guests.
Falcone: Remember that in most cases air conditioning set to 65 degrees in summer is an anomaly in Italy, so the air conditioner in your hotel will likely not be as cool as you are used to. For those who are heat sensitive and crowd sensitive, I suggest fall travel, when cool air and fewer tourists make it a delightful time to visit.
5. Cruise ships are staying in Europe longer.
A cruise ship moored in the Mediterranean near Cannes.
Getty
Scully: The weather has been so much milder in the last five years and clients want the quiet/shoulder season as there is great value for cruising. Every time a client travels from one city to another on a land vacation they lose a day of their holiday; on a cruise they lose none and see more. Some cruise lines offer free, and even business class, air transportation.
6.Travelersare taking more than one vacation a year, increasing demand for off-season travel.
Scully: The more people travel the more they realize the beneficial impact it has on their lives. Multi-generational travel continues to grow every year. [Those taking several] vacations per year are looking for value, so they can travel more and the winter and off- season are what they need to accomplish those goals.
7. It’s not necessarily easier booking a pricey hotel.
Scully: The more expensive a hotel, the harder it is to get a room there. Hoteliers and cruise lines will tell you the first to be booked are suites and the best-value rooms or staterooms. Luxury clients only want the best. Those who love to travel but watch their dollars are looking for value, but still want great locations and could also want five-star properties, but at the best rates—we are seeing incredible prices right now in Ireland with 5-star hotels as low as $300 per night. And they are looking for value, meaning options for breakfast included, amenities, upgrades whenever possible, and early arrival. That’s always important if you get to the hotel by 8 AM! The best value I love to work with is 3rd or 4th night free. I can use this to have that room ready on arrival and have breakfast awaiting them. After a nice nap they are on the clock and can beat annoying jet lag.
8.When a mega-star is in town for a concert, it might seem like high season even when it’s not. A major music, sporting or fashion event can have you scrambling for a hotel room in off-season months.
The Galleria in Milan, a city with several Fashion Weeks.
Getty
Zeigler: In large cities with Fashion Weeks and other events, along with Easter (especially in Italy), it’s not so much that hotels are sold out, it’s more that rates are super inflated, so locating affordable accommodations or in certain parts of a city can be challenging. [In smaller locales] these events can create a strain on availability. For example the FIFA Women’s World Cup France will be held in Le Havre, France this year. There are lots of hotels, but virtually everything in the city is sold out and has been for a couple of months now.
9.When best to visit a destination overrun with visitors like Venice.
Venice.
Getty
Falcone: There is no low season in Venice, but there can be a peacefulness to the city in January or before Lent when snow falls and the foot traffic is much less. Venice has six sestieri, or neighborhoods, and the most crowded will always be San Marco, San Polo and Cannaregio. You can still enjoy a less crowded Venezia if you stay away from those areas and visit Dorsoduro, Castello, the Giudecca, and the Lido. [When traveling in high season] consider reserving a hotel on its own island and take the hotel’s private boat transfer to and from the city proper. Hotels on islands include the the five-star JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa on Isola delle Rose and the five-star San Clemente Palace Kempinski on Isola di San Clemente. [The famously luxe Belmond Hotel Cipriani is on the Giudecca.]
10. Some prime spots for off-season travel.
Mykonos.
Getty
The Duomo in Siena.
Getty
Zeigler: Places like Spain, Portugal, Italy, Croatia and even Greece can be really great places to visit in April, or even mid-late October. Also many countries have their own holiday festivals and Christmas markets, which are very popular reasons to visit Europe off-season.
Falcone: During off-season in Italy, it is best to stay in a larger town or city with a decent population like Siena, Lucca, or Sestri Levante— places where people live year-round rather than in the Cinque Terre.
11. Travelers are looking farther north during low season.
Snowmobiling in Finnish Lapland.
Getty
Zeigler: We have seen an uptick in adventure/outdoor requests in Iceland, Finland and Norway in the winter months for activities like dog sledding, Northern Lights hunting, [staying in] ice hotels, snowmobiling and snow sport activities. Prices in these destinations are cheaper than in summer months, but you do have shorter days.
12. Off-season in Europe is seeing warmer temperatures, but unpredictable and severe weather too, like torrential rains, unusual snowstorms and cold snaps.
Flooding in Piazza San Marco in October 2018.
Getty
Falcone: Climate change certainly has and continues to leave its mark on Venice in the form of Acqua Alta (high water). In October when the rains begin, if you plan to wander the city bring your knee-high rubber boots. You can download an app called apple.com/us/app/hi-tide-venice/id469821030?mt=8″>hi!tide Venice that will tell you where the flooded areas are and the tide schedule. Savvy Venetians know how to move strategically about their city, we tourists have a harder time with that.
13. Travelers are also heading to the countryside.
Windermere in Cumbria in the English Lake District.
Getty
Scully: The biggest growth I’ve seen in the last few years is the number of clients going to the countryside—in England for the Lake District, Cotswolds and the North; the highlands of Scotland; and always the smaller cities of Italy. Trains are good value and many people have already done the major cities.

Philippines in April – weather and seasons, is it worth it to go? The sun is almost always shining, the rains are very rare. True, in some regions it becomes very hot, which is not very comfortable for tourists from Russia and European countries. In April, according to statistics, there are no global tropical storms and typhoons across the country, due to which ferry and air traffic are usually interrupted in the low season.
Boracay has the most beautiful sunsets, holidays in April
As usual in the dry season, beach and diving enthusiasts from all over the world travel to the Philippines in April, which is why hotel accommodation will cost about 30% more than in the low season. Also in April is the celebration of Catholic Easter. This is a big holiday for the country, because Catholicism is the main religion of the Philippines, and therefore, during the period that falls on the date of this holiday, many local families arrange holidays for themselves and go on vacation to domestic resorts. Therefore, it is highly recommended to book accommodation and tickets for the Easter week in advance, especially on the island of Boracay, where the number of accommodation facilities is artificially limited in order to preserve the island (read more about accredited hotels to enter Boracay here…). Here are the dates for celebrating Easter in the Philippines in the coming years:
April 9-11, 2020;
April 1-3, 2021;
April 14-16, 2022.
