2. Discover Mount Teide

Mount Teide is one of Tenerife’s most iconic attractions and a visit wouldn’t be complete until you’ve seen it for yourself, and we don’t just mean in the distance. Mount Teide is something that needs to be seen up close and the good news is, there are loads of different ways to do just that.

But what is Mount Teide? Well, if you’re not familiar with it, Mount Teide is a spectacular volcano that stands at an impressive 3,718-metres-tall. Its summit is the highest point in Spain, and you can go right to the top on an incredible Mount Teide cable car journey. With your Mount Teide cable car ticket, you can skip the line too, saving you valuable time. You’ll be able to take in the fantastic views on the way up, before getting out at the top and admiring your surroundings from the viewing platforms.

You can also choose to see Mount Teide on a guided hiking tour, from the Teide Observatory or at sunset with a glass of champagne in hand! Make sure a visit to Mount Teide is on your Tenerife ‘must-do’ list.

3. Get closer to nature at Loro Parque

This is another award-winning attraction in Tenerife, with Loro Parque taking the title of best zoo in the world! Loro Parque means ‘Parrot Park’ in Spanish and this is how it originally began. When the park first opened it was home to 150 parrots, but now there’s much more to see, with more than 4,000 exotic parrots and 30,000 beautiful animals that call this place home.

During your visit, you can expect to see lions, white tigers, gorillas, meerkats, alligators, flamingos, penguins and many more. You’ll also be able to visit a host of exhibitions like the 1,200,000- litre aquarium, the world’s largest penguinarium and the Katandra Treetops free flight aviary.

Loro Parque also has several shows that you can enjoy. The Loro Show gives you the chance to see some of the park’s amazing parrots up close. These amazing birds have some pretty impressive maths skills to show you and there’s nothing quite like watching these beautiful animals soar overhead.

When you book your Loro Parque tickets with us, you’ll get a free burger when you visit, so you won’t go hungry. There’s also a fantastic steak restaurant called Brunelli’s if you want to have some dinner before you leave.

4. Search for Dolphins

If you’re looking for something special to do on your Tenerife holiday, then look no further. The Royal Delfin Cruise makes for an amazing day out that you’ll never forget. This cruise takes you out to sea on a spacious catamaran in search of wildlife.

You’ll have the opportunity to see beautiful Bottlenose dolphins and Pilot whales in their natural habitat and if you’re lucky, they might just leap out of the water before your eyes. You’ll also be able to get a close-up look at the sea life by heading to the lower deck where there is a large underwater viewing area where you can see everything under the surface. This unbelievable experience is definitely something you’ll treasure forever.

You’ll pass stunning scenery along the way, including the famous Los Gigantes cliffs and the Teno Mountains, so make sure you’ve got your camera at the ready. Your catamaran tour also includes complimentary drinks (beer, wine & soft drinks) and a delicious buffet lunch.

5. Go to the beach

Tenerife is famous for having some of the best beaches in Spain, so you really should spend at least one day of your holiday at the beach. Pack a beach towel, some sun cream and a good book and get ready to laze the day away on one of Tenerife’s sandy beaches.

Los Cristianos Resort is the place to go if you want that picture-perfect setting. You’ll find soft, golden sand and turquoise waters alongside a promenade with shops, restaurants and cafes for when you want to stretch your legs. This is a great place to come if you’re visiting with children, as the water here is calm and there are shallow areas that the children can enjoy. We’d recommend Playa de Los Cristianos and Las Vistas beach if you’re in the area.

Playa de Las Teresitas is another great beach for relaxing, with lots of sun loungers and umbrellas available. This is the kind of place that deserves to be on the front of a postcard! Playa del Duque in Costa Adeje is another gorgeous beach that is well worth a visit. It’s just a short distance from Siam Park, so if you’re staying in the area this could be the perfect place to come and relax after an action-packed day at this amazing water park.

The beaches at Playa de las Americas have a much livelier atmosphere with fun water sports and bustling restaurants and bars nearby. Playa de Troya is the most popular beach here with lots of sun loungers for those of you wanting to unwind.

What’s the weather like in Tel Aviv in November?

Velvet season is coming to an end, and November is the final month. The temperature during this period of the year is quite comfortable, so you can have a great time on vacation.

This weather will especially appeal to those who do not like exhausting heat and stuffiness. Daytime hours average temperature +22 °C . There are also hotter days with t +25 °C. But such weather pleases only at the beginning of the month. By the end of the month there is a decrease in daily values to +19 °C. However, it is still warmer than the months after November.

It’s even cooler here at night. The thermometers show no more than +17 ° C. Therefore, in order to be comfortable walking around the city at night, you need to put warm clothes in your suitcase.

The waters of the Mediterranean have not yet cooled down, so you can swim in comfort . At the beginning of November the water temperature is around +24 °C. However, at the end of the month it cools down to +20 °C. The only thing worth considering is that a considerable number of sea urchins are found on the coast of the sea, which can not only cause discomfort, but also harm health with their injections.

Some people may not like this temperature too much. The warmest body of water in the whole world, the Red Sea, will come to the rescue. The water is about 2 degrees warmer there. But when staying in the water for a long time, the difference is felt very strongly.

And today the temperature of the water in the sea is +25.7 °C.

Along with November comes the anticyclone, and the rainy season begins . Showers are predominantly observed in the evening hours. However, they are quite short-lived and literally in an hour they seemed to be gone.

It rains about nine days a month. The rest of the time the sky is clear. And also at this time there are winds that cause significant discomfort to vacationers on the beach. Indeed, in windy weather, it is not very pleasant to get out of the sea.

What clothes will you be most comfortable in?

Staying in Tel Aviv will be comfortable if you take care of the presence of the necessary things in your suitcase in advance. It is necessary to have both light and warm objects. During the day it will be cozy in T-shirts with short sleeves, shorts and dresses.

It’s much cooler in the evening. It is worth taking a sweater or jacket that will not let the wind through. If a club holiday is planned for the evening, then the evening coolness will not create discomfort.

It is quite logical to have a swimsuit for a beach holiday, as well as an umbrella for the possible occurrence of rain.

Why November?

  • No crowd . Since the weather this month is not particularly hot, there are not very many tourists. The beaches are more free and there are few queues.
  • Prices . November is the end of the velvet season, so an active price reduction course begins. The price of tickets and hotel accommodation is reduced by 10 percent. However, the service, the level of comfort and the availability of a huge variety of services remains at the same level. Fans of low prices will like it.
  • Fruit . November is the month when many fruits ripen. First of all, this concerns the rarest ones, which you cannot buy in the European part of this continent. The most useful and very tasty pitaya is also harvested in November. At the Shuk-a-Carmel food market, you can buy the kiwano fruit, which is very much appreciated by tourists.
  • Sales . For shopaholics, the good news is that huge sales begin during this period. Many stores offer crazy discounts. Absolutely everything is sold at the Carmel market. Therefore, you can buy whatever your heart desires. Modern shopping centers also gather a huge number of people.

What to do during the holidays: excursions, festivals, entertainment

  • Active recreation . Cool weather and high waves allow amateurs and professionals to engage in water sports: surfing, yachting, etc.
  • Tours and museums . In the city of Tel Aviv there are a large number of temples that belong to various religions. You can meet the ancient church of Immanuel, Hassan Bek and Al-Bahr mosques, etc. It is recommended to visit museums: Eretz Israel, the Jewish Diaspora and the Museum of Diamonds. And there are also wonderful excursions to Bethlehem and Nazareth, which keep one of the most important shrines of the state.
  • Festivals and holidays . In November, a night marathon takes place here, which involves 5 routes. It starts from Yarkon Park, passes through Tel Aviv and ends in the southern districts of the city. Another interesting festival called “Open Houses” during which tourists with professional guides can see many galleries, monuments, various public buildings, as well as some apartments and dwellings of the local population.

In general, you can have a wonderful rest in Tel Aviv in November. And warm weather, lack of scorching heat and comfortable water temperature will be great helpers. 9Watch this video on YouTube UAE, Tenerife, Brazil and Latin America.

As the climate crisis accelerates, Europe is warming faster than any other region, according to a new State of the Climate in Europe report from the World Meteorological Organization.

The WMO report comes ahead of the UN’s international climate summit in Egypt, and is one in a series of reports over the past several weeks that show how the world is off-track on its climate goals. Not only are countries missing the mark on their efforts to reduce planet-warming fossil fuel emissions, but measurements show temperatures are already skyrocketing.

Global temperature has already risen around 1. 2 degrees since the industrial revolution, and scientists have warned that this temperature should be limited to just 1.5 degrees to avoid the most severe impacts of the climate crisis.

Some continents are feeling that rise more than others. Wednesday’s report shows temperatures in Europe have increased at more than twice the global average over the past 30 years – at a rate of about 0.5 degrees Celsius per decade.

Recent reports show how the region’s temperature rise is fueling extreme weather.

Year-to-date through July, the number of wildfires the EU was quadruple the 15-year average. A deadly, record-breaking heatwave in the UK strained public health and buckled infrastructure. Exceptional drought plagued the continent this summer, drying up some of the world’s most economically important rivers. And that drought that came on the heels of some of the most destructive floods Europe has ever seen.

People board a ferry during evacuation as a wildfire burns in the village of Limni, on the island of Evia, Greece, August 6, 2021.

Nicolas Economou/Reuters

Europe’s summer of floods and fire was its hottest on record, report finds

In 2021, the last full year covered in Wednesday’s analysis, more than half a million people were directly affected by climate change-fueled weather events. Extreme weather caused economic damages exceeding $50 billion. And the accelerated warming has caused Alpine glaciers to lose 30 meters in ice thickness from 1997 to 2021, the report notes.

“Europe presents a live picture of a warming world and reminds us that even well-prepared societies are not safe from impacts of extreme weather events,” said WMO Secretary-General Petteri Taalas in a forward on the report. “This year, like 2021, large parts of Europe have been affected by extensive heatwaves and drought, fueling wildfires. In 2021, exceptional floods caused death and devastation.”

Accelerated warming has caused Alpine glaciers to lose 30 meters in ice thickness from 1997 to 2021, the report notes. And in Greenland, which is covered by the WMO regional analysis, rain fell for the first time ever in 2021 at the summit station high atop the ice sheet – part of a melting trend that has accelerated sea level rise.

“European society is vulnerable to climate variability and change, but Europe is also at the forefront of the international effort to mitigate climate change and to develop innovative solutions to adapt to the new climate Europeans will have to live with,” Carlo Buontempo, director of the Copernicus Climate Change Service, said in a statement.

Taalas said in his forward that although Europe’s pace on cutting planet-warming emissions has been “good,” their ambition on this front “should be further increased.

The report notes that greenhouse gas emissions decreased 31% between 1990 and 2020. The bloc is aiming to slash greenhouse gas emissions by 55% from 1990 levels by 2030.

“As the risks and impact of climate change become increasingly apparent in day-to-day life, the need and the appetite grow for climate intelligence, and rightly so. With this report we aim to bridge the gap between the data and the analysis to provide science-based but accessible information that is ‘decision-ready’, across sectors, across professions,” Buontempo said.

Díaz, Brizuela and Barreiro, with the Spanish team for the November window

The national coach, Sergio Scariolo, announced this Wednesday the call for the two matches of the second qualifying phase for the 2023 World Cup, which will be held in Italy and Huelva this November. Among the 16 summoned for these ‘windows’ are, once again, three players from the Unibox: Jonathan Barreiro, Dario Brizuela Y Alberto Díaz, these last two brand new European champions with the Spanish team. In addition, the Malaga Francis Alonso Y Ruben Guerrero they are also among those chosen for the two international engagements.

The Italian coach, in a video broadcast by the Spanish Federation on its social networks, has valued the call stating that they have selected the players who came out of the quarry and have progressed with the national team’s game system. Scariolo defines the group “of a certain consistency, with important values, character, quality… that can allow us to fight for the goal of winning and completing the classification”.

These matches will be the first for the team after winning the the Eurobasket last September in Germany. Sebas Saiz, Jaime Fernández, Darío Brizuela, Joel Parra and Alberto Díaz will repeat their presence with the national team after their enormous performance in the continental championship. Next Monday, November 7, the team will travel to Bologna where they will begin to prepare for the match against Italy in Pesaro (Friday 11th, 9pm). On Saturday 12 they will travel to Huelva where they will face The Netherlands a few days later (Monday 14, 8:30 p.m. at the Palacio de los Deportes Carolina Marín).

In addition, there will also be typesetter and Malaga representation on the technical staff. On behalf of Unicaja will attend the delegate Javier Salvo. Enrique Salinas -physical trainer- and Carlos Salas -doctor- will be other Costa Ricans who will accompany Scariolo. On this occasion, Ángel Sánchez Cañete will not accompany the team as has already happened in other windows. So he will continue in the work dynamics of Unicaja.

  • Francis Alonso (Surne Bilbao Basket), 3 caps
  • Jonathan Barreiro (Unicaja), 9 caps
  • Ferran Bassa (Gran Canaria), 8 caps
  • Dario Brizuela (Unicaja), 36 caps
  • Pep Busquets (Young)

November Holidays in Lanzarote: Top Holiday Lettings

The Top Places to Visit in Lanzarote in November

Plan a vacation to Lanzarote and you’ll know tranquillity. While there are countless deals for November holidays in Lanzarote, the following destinations are essential for your itinerary.

  1. Yaiza

Yaiza village lies in the south of Lanzarote. It has been awarded for the superior adornment of traditional white houses. The buildings create a beautiful contrast with the black shade of the volcanic landscape. Walk through the streets and flowery gardens.

  2. Puerto del Carmen

It is one of the greatest nightlife spots in Lanzarote with an abundance of beach clubs, bars, and restaurants. The clubs remain active till the early morning. The family-friendly town also provides shops and activities for children in Matagorda.

  3. Caleta de Famara

Indulge your passion for fishing in the small town of Caleta de Famara. Traverse the unpaved sand streets where white houses are painted blue on the doors and windows. Surf on the beach overlooking high cliffs. In the evening, tuck into delicious local cuisine at specialised restaurants.

  4. Haria

Perched on the Valley of 100 Palms, the village of Haria is the greenest part in Lanzarote. Shop locally-made handcrafts and fresh produce in Haria market. Grab some handmade souvenirs in the stalls before ordering a local dish in one of the cafés.

  5. Cueva de Los Verdes

If you crave an escape into the underground, check out a series of caves in Cueva de Los Verdes. The natives used to hide here when pirates invaded. Today, the caves make perfect hideouts from the glaring heat. Don’t miss acoustic concerts in the intimate cave auditorium.

Walking grade

Grade 4
Grade 6

The popular and somewhat more barren island compared to its brothers and sisters in the Canaries offers a wide variety of walking which is perfect for our 2 Grade, 2 Leaders, 2 Walks option at a grade 4 and 6.

Each day we will walk between 4 and 6 hours with cumulative daily ascents and descents in the range of 300m to 800m depending on the grade of walk you choose to do. The paths we take are rough and steep at times, but will be taken at a pace appropriate to the grade of the walk. The higher the grade walking programmes the higher ascents and duration will be. It is important to note that some walks maybe difficult for those affected by vertigo. The maximum altitude reached on either grade is 650m.

Please ensure you read the Proposed Itinerary carefully to best gauge the walking technicalities.

Holiday Highlights

  • There is simply so much choice for an avid rambler, especially with two grades of walking on offer!
  • Discover a volcanic wonderland on an island of natural richness.
  • Descend through dramatic ancient lava fields surrounded by towering volcanic cones in Timanfaya National Park.
  • Explore palm groves, vineyards, whitewashed villages and mountain vistas.
  • Relax in our beachfront hotel, perfect for that early morning or evening stroll on the sand.
  • Enjoy easy access to Arrecife, just a ten minute walk away.

Why not extend you stay in the Canaries by combining your holiday on Lanzarote with another island. Take a look at our Canary Islands Page to view all our possible island combinations!

Discover a volcanic wonderland with a difference on an island of natural richness and wildlife found nowhere else in the world. Lanzarote’s striking volcanic cones and beautiful sandy beaches are well known but those in search of the pleasures that walking can bring are also well catered for on this most northerly of the Canary Islands. There are palm groves, vineyards, white-washed villages, and mountain vistas. The whole island is a UNESCO Biosphere reserve with over 40% of the island protected for its natural richness. There are plants endemic to the island, volcanic tubes, salt marshes and wild beaches.

From Haria the Valley of a Thousand Palms, follow old trading paths to Tequise, the ancient capital of Lanzarote, one of the best on the island with views over La Graciosa and the other tiny islands off the north coast. View ancient lava fields surrounded by towering volcanic cones in the Timanfaya National Park and make your way through verdant palm groves and vineyards taking in the fresh mountain air along the way.

We stay in the island’s capital, Arrecife, a good base from which to explore the rest of the island. With a wild coastline, deserted sandy beaches and welcoming rural villages, you’ll always find a place to relax and take in the views at the end of a walk and with temperatures that rarely fall below 20°C, what could be more perfect?

Our Christmas and New Year departures are a chance to see in the festive season in a different setting.

During our time on Lanzarote we will be spending our time exploring the island through a variety of walks. There will also be a free day. Some highlight walks that we aim to complete are as follows:

Uga to Puerto del Carmen (Grade 4)

A good starter linear walk to stretch your legs on good tracks/paths, which takes in the grape pits of the La Geria district and continues through flatter residential land to the barranco of Quiquere, down to the coast and along the sea path to reach the resort of Puerto Del Carmen and refreshments.

Uga to Puerto del Carmen (Grade 6)

Both groups start out from the village of Uga but the Grade 6 walk involves two additional hills to climb which afford magnificent views.

Timanfaya & El Golfo (Grade 4)

Both groups start with a joint visit to the Timanfaya Visitor Centre which we believe is an essential excursion to get an understanding of the volcanic formation of the island. The visit is then followed by two circular coastal walks on lava paths, including a beach stop, a visit to the Green Lagoon and on the return journey a photo stop opportunity at the sea caves of Los Hervideros.

Timanfaya & El Golfo (Grade 6)

Our Grade 6 takes in a slightly higher and longer route.

Maguez Circular (Grade 4)

A circular walk starting from Community Centre at the whitewashed village of Maguez . The two groups walk largely independently for most of the day. The lower grade walk is less demanding in terms of distance and ascent but both groups are rewarded with magnificent views of the North of Lanzarote and the Island of Graciosa. These are both lovely walks with amazing views which many clients enjoy as a real highlight of the week.

Maguez Circular (Grade 6)

The 6 grade route visits along the side of a volcano and then passes through the picturesque village of Ye before continuing on high cliff paths with spectacular views of the nearby island of La Graciosca and returning to Maguez. These are both lovely walks with amazing views which many clients enjoy as a real highlight of the week.

Femes to Puerto Calero (Grade 4)

A linear walk starting in the high mountains of the south which are usually visible from Arrecife, this area offers two fine rough ridge walks of varying difficulty, then a quiet and tranquil valley, where rare birds have been seen, followed by a secluded lava beach which is an ideal location for a swim. Then it follows the coast path north with fine views. The path snakes through to the unspoiled resort of Playa Quemada where a few nice bars/restaurants are available. From there it continues on the coast path to Puerto Calero where it is possible to spend some time after the walk.

Femes to Puerto Calero (Grade 6)

Our Grade 6 walk is a longer and higher variation if the Grade 4 route.

Haria to Teguise (Grade 4)

Two linear walks with varying distance and ascent which basically follow old trading paths from Haria, the Valley of a Thousand Palm Trees to the ancient capital of Teguise. Both walks are on ancient and rough tracks, ascending to a high plateau and the church of Ermita de las Nieves. This walk affords both groups spectacular views inland and to the coast. There is also time for a look around tranquil Teguise. The ascent at grade 4 is all at the beginning of the walk and up to the first break, after which it is easy walking.

Haria to Teguise (Grade 6)

Our Grade 6 walk is a longer higher variation of our Grade 4 route.

There will also be a free day generally on day five your leaders will let you know about options available to you on Wednesday evening. Note: This free day is the best opportunity for shopping as majority of shops are closed Saturday evening and Sunday.

We draw particular cautious attention to our reliance on the MERRA-2 model-based reconstructions for a number of important data series. While having the tremendous advantages of temporal and spatial completeness, these reconstructions: (1) are based on computer models that may have model-based errors, (2) are coarsely sampled on a 50 km grid and are therefore unable to reconstruct the local variations of many microclimates, and (3) have particular difficulty with the weather in some coastal areas, especially small islands.

We further caution that our travel scores are only as good as the data that underpin them, that weather conditions at any given location and time are unpredictable and variable, and that the definition of the scores reflects a particular set of preferences that may not agree with those of any particular reader.

50 Fun Things to Do in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

Playa del Carmen is one of the shiniest jewels in the Mexican Caribbean, with white sand beaches, turquoise sea, and Mayan ruins everywhere you turn.

Spend your days swimming in mysterious jungle pools or snorkeling with sea turtles. Then as dusk falls, get the party started with tacos and tequila.

The coral reefs here are some of the best in the world, and the foodie scene will set your senses ablaze. There are lots of incredible things to do in Playa del Carmen, but these are the ones you shouldn’t miss.

1 – Whiz through the forest on a zip line

Harness your inner Tarzan and fly through the trees, getting up close and personal to the jungle canopy.

After a safety briefing and gear fitting, it’s time to take a leap of faith for the ultimate aerial view of the jungle.

There will be the opportunity to zoom over hidden cenotes, and then go for a swim in them to cool off.

2 – Taste local flavors on a food tour

Joining a food tour is one of the tastiest things to do in Playa del Carmen. You’ll be sampling dishes at the best eateries in town, and learning more about Mexico’s intriguing food culture.

Head off the beaten track in search of lesser-known specialties. Will you prefer the handmade quesadillas and tacos al pastor, or are popsicles and ice cream more your thing?

3 – Go whale shark watching

Whale Sharks are the largest fish in the ocean, so imagine what swimming beside one will feel like! Between May and September, the Riviera is a great snorkeling place to see the whales as they migrate to these warm Mexican waters.

You’ll head out to sea by boat in search of these friendly marine giants. Then it’s time to jump overboard and see them in action up close.

4 – Escape to tropical Contoy Island

This untouched island is small yet perfectly formed. Home to over 150 exotic bird species and lots of sea turtles in season, Isla Contoy is a relaxing day trip from Playa del Carmen.

Located on the second-longest coral reef in the world, the island is all about the turquoise sea, powdery beaches, and swaying palms. Snorkeling here is truly spectacular.

5 – Discover the coast on a boat tour

Taking a boat tour along the lush Caribbean coast is one of the most sought-after things to do in Playa del Carmen. Cruise along the tropical shore, anchoring in secret lagoons and snorkeling over reefs.

You can try stand up paddle boarding on some boat tours, or just chill out on deck with a gourmet lunch and an open bar.

30 Best Things to Do in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico – Fodor’s Travel Guide

Consider this your greatest-hits list of the best things to do in Playa del Carmen.

Swinging yet serene, Playa del Carmen is the not-so-secret antidote to Cancun. The Mayan Riviera is the coast with the most and Playa del Carmen is its most eclectic destination. Combining rich Mayan culture, culinary diversity, year-round warmth, otherworldly subterranean swimming pools, and a gorgeous beach or two, this city might just blow you out of the water.

Previously known as Xaman-Ha or “waters of the north” in Maya, Playa del Carmen was named for Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Cancun’s patron saint. Situated on the Mexican Caribbean coast, this once sleepy fishing village is now a cosmopolitan city in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo where many come to meet the world. To be able to say you’ve visited this Mayan Riviera gem, tick the following scintillating experiences off your list.

Here is a definitive list of the best things to do in Playa del Carmen, a tropical playground that might just blow you out of the water.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT PLAYA DEL CARMEN?The weather and waters stay warm enough to welcome you 365 days a year, but the best months to visit Playa del Carmen are November through March when the heat and humidity are less punishing.

Monitor the Quintana Roo government portal to get the latest COVID-19 information, guidelines, and requirements.

    1 OF 30

    Begin at Quinta Avenida

Fifth Avenue (Quinta Avenida) is the beating heart of Playa del Carmen, which is affectionately called “Playa” by locals. Stroll along this pedestrian-only street to take in a conglomeration of tour operators, bustling bars, restaurants, clothing shops, live comic book characters, street performers, and well-stocked tequila stores professing to be museums.

Playa del Carmen is the largest (and fastest-growing) city in the Mayan Riviera but it’s still small enough to delightfully discover on foot. Quinta Avenida (or “La Quinta”) is Playa’s principal street paralleling the beach and a quasi baptism of fire that will get you pumped to start your trip.

    Frolic in a Rooftop Pool

Escape to The Fives hotel’s elegant rooftop pool and have an artful mixologist whip you up a cocktail to accompany your sunset while you teeter on the edge of bliss. The Reef 28’s sky-caressing pool is a place to see and be seen and Thompson Playa del Carmen’s rooftop is similarly stylish. From here you can take in purple and blue sunset hues from a cabana or the ivory in-pool loungers. The party crowd loves Deck 5 Pool and Skybar on weekend afternoons while The Palm at Playa boutique hotel is popular for its poolside workshops, yoga classes, and pulsating day-to-evening parties. Over at Be Roof atop the Be Playa hotel, the atmosphere is laid-back and the bar staff always seem to have just the right music playing.

INSIDER TIPOn weekends and days with fabulous weather, it’s best to arrive at a rooftop pool early to ensure you get your preferred sunny spot.

    Go Cenote Hopping

Cenotes are natural limestone sinkholes that ancient Mayans believed to be gateways to the underworld. These highly photogenic freshwater pools are a pleasure to swim in sans sand and there are thousands of them in the Yucatán Peninsula (which is comprised of Quintana Roo, Campeche, and Yucatán states).

Each cenote has its own splendor. There are free and paid cenotes, open-air, semi-open and underground, public and private, some with cliffs for jumping, and others permit scuba diving excursions. Between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, you’ll find an array of these jungle jewels including Dos Ojos, Tajma Ha, Cristalino, Azul, and the ever-popular Jardin del Eden (Garden of Eden). Don’t forget to bring biodegradable sunscreen.

INSIDER TIPCenote Azul, Cristalino, and Jardin del Eden are located side by side so if one is at capacity, you can easily go and inspect the others.

    Hit the Beach Clubs

Playa is a tropical party paradise. Whether you’re after decadent day drinking or a slow session on swings, there’s a beach club with your name on it. At Coralina Daylight Club, the most upscale of the bunch, expect show-stopping spectacles with dancers, boisterous beats, and golden champagne spray guns. For prices that won’t scare the daylight out of you, choose Encanto Beach where a delicious massage is a possibility.

INTI Beach wins the award for the most zen-like atmosphere given its past life as a holistic center while Lido Beach Club has bar swings, a fresh coconut stand, and live music. Mandarino is the one your Instagram account will thank you for, Mamitas Beach Club sits on its namesake beach, and Martina is a pool and beach hybrid and a local icon. Sink into a beachfront day bed or retain a VIP area out back by Martina’s pool where the real partying takes place. Though you might want to stay and play till the stars come out, happiness ends there at 7.30 p.m on weekends. A place where the beat does go on long after sunset is Soundset Beach Club.

INSIDER TIPNote that many beach clubs and rooftop pools require day passes or have a minimum consumption amount.

Fraternize With Rescued Reptiles, Toucans, Macaws, and Monkeys

Over in Akumal, you can hang out with a majestic flamboyance of flamingos and a dazzle of zebras as well as ostriches, wild boars, and titi monkeys. The Akumal Monkey Sanctuary started with the mission to save Mexico’s native howler and spider monkeys, which are protected and cannot be owned as pets. The sanctuary cares for animals received from closed zoos, illegal trafficking, and private collections. Bolster your animal kingdom knowledge with bilingual guides and cozy up to rare species like the critically endangered cotton-top tamarin.

If you feel like going for a dip after your experience, luckily, there’s a cenote right next door (Cenote Ma’ax) and if you dream of swimming with turtles, Akumal is the place to do it. In Mayan, Akumal means “land of turtles.” Head to oceanfront eatery Lol Ha for lunch and then find these sea beauties as you snorkel in the nearby waters.

    Say Yes to Isla Holbox

Overwater hammocks. Sand that feels like crumbled butterscotch biscuits. Tangerine-tinted sunsets. Warm blue-green waters with hundreds of maze-like sand bars. Visiting Isla Holbox is a covetable pinch-me-now experience potentially culminating in a sighting of prancing flamingos at the ethereal Yum Balam biosphere reserve or swimming with whale sharks between May and September.

Holbox (pronounced hol-bosh) is a 26-mile-long island 20 minutes off the Yucatan Peninsula. Holbox means “black hole” in Yucatec Maya but bright days are on the horizon as you feast on the island’s famous lobster pizza, admire bioluminescent phytoplankton, pinch yourself repeatedly, and get around on two wheels or two legs. Besides refuse collection trucks, Holbox is car-free and WiFi is spotty at best. This laid-back paradise beats to its own (quiet) drum.

Dine Alfresco at the Monkey’s Cave

La Cueva del Chango (“the monkey’s cave”) deserves its own spot on this list due to the spectacular breakfast menu and for the chilaquiles. This is a traditional Mexican breakfast dish of tender fried tortillas in a red or green salsa. Have yours plain, with chicken, or gingerly garnished with eggs. Vegan options are aplenty, too. Don’t shortchange yourself by not venturing to the back, an outdoor oasis with quiet ponds streaming across, lush trees, and blowing fans for extra scorching days. As the name suggests, cheeky monkeys are often seen cavorting in the trees.

La Cueva del Chango is situated on 38th Street between Fifth Avenue and the beach, a captivating corner with many restaurants, each clamoring for your adoration and reservations with string lights and snazzy décor.

    Snorkel and Dive in Cozumel

Cozumel Island is home to the Mesoamerican Reef, the largest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere, making it one of Mexico’s most prized diving destinations. Serious divers in Cozumel swear by Deep Exposure as the go-to shop for technical diving there. Overtly opulent reefs for snorkeling in Cozumel include Palancar Reef, Columbia Reef, and El Cielo, which means “heaven” in Spanish—a slight giveaway of the underwater magnificence that’s promised.

This handsome island is a mere 45 minutes away by ferry from Playa del Carmen and two companies that will chauffeur you across: Winjet (which has orange branding) and Ultramar (the yellow and blue one).

INSIDER TIPPlaya del Carmen also has a bevy of reputable and reliable dive shops such as Dive Point, Good Vibes Diving and Pluto Dive.

Day Trip to Chichén Itzá, One of the New Seven Wonders of the World

Mexico’s most visited attraction is only two and a half hours from Playa del Carmen driving. Chichén Itzá is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it was named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007. El Castillo, the Temple of the Jaguars, and the ball court are some of the monuments at this pre-Hispanic settlement. They grant a deeper understanding of Mayan culture and leave many awestruck.

You can rent a car and journey there independently but it might be worth booking a day tour that includes lunch, roundtrip transportation, fast-track tickets, and an English-speaking guide to talk you through Chichén Itzá’s various secrets. Many day tours also include pit stops in the charming Yucatecan city of Valladolid or at the Saamal, Ik Kil, or Hubiku cenotes.

INSIDER TIPBook your day trip to Chichén Itzá at any tour operator along Quinta Avenida but be sure to get written confirmation of everything that’s included in your package and have valid contact details for the vendor.

Taste Jamaica in the City Center

For Jamaican and Asian American couple Marvin and Stephanie, it was love at first sight. After vacationing in Playa two years ago, they returned home to Canada and sold their belongings to move to Playa and feed people. The result is Rockas Jamaican, where food is sourced locally and made fresh daily—nothing is carried over to the next day. You’ll hear deep cries of sorrow when the jerk chicken sells out—and it does. The ingredient-rich rasta pasta is also a firm favorite at this home-style Jamaican cooking spot.

    11 OF 30

Spot Mayan Ruins Right on the Beach

Where else can you appreciate Mayan ruins on a limestone cliff overlooking the sea? Only in Tulum. Once known as Zamá, Tulum is a popular tourist destination and a short bus, colectivo (public minivan), shuttle, or taxi ride from Playa del Carmen.

Despite its proximity, Tulum is worlds away from Playa in aesthetics and prices. “Tuluminati” is a colloquial term hatched to describe the robust population of moneyed spirituality seekers and boho-chic influencers that frequent the ritzy beach clubs and dining establishments, camera in hand.

INSIDER TIPFor day trips, renting a car is one of the best ways to get around but getting a vehicle on short notice can be difficult. Where possible, make reservations as far in advance as possible.

There are more than 40 attractions including a coral reef aquarium, an underground river, an archeological site, a beach, and a butterfly pavilion. The crescendo is the outstanding Mexico Espectacular cultural show which is presented each evening. Fortuitously, those wishing to extend the fun can stay at one of the group’s all-inclusive hotels with oodles of wow factor—Hotel Xcaret, Hotel Xcaret Arte and La Casa de la Playa.

    Pose at the Pink Lake

People are surprised to learn that Las Coloradas, the bubblegum pink lake on the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula is, in fact, operated by a salt company called ISYSA. You can’t swim in it either. Many still find the journey worthwhile, however, just to lay eyes on a body of water this colorful. An actual swim is also possible at the nearby white-sand beaches.

INSIDER TIPTo immortalize your visit, bring your phone or most basic camera, as fancy SLRs aren’t allowed.

A trip to Las Coloradas can easily be coupled with a stop at Ek Balam, the Acropolis pyramid with dense jungle all around. Unlike Chichén Itzá, you can actually climb the façade to reveal outstanding views from the summit.

    14 OF 30

Jam to Bob Marley in Puerto Morelos

Make your way to Puerto Morelos where the barefoot chic RoMarley Beach House awaits at The Fives Oceanfront hotel. Bob Marley’s son Rohan Marley is the proprietor of this waterfront venue which has a live reggae band every Sunday afternoon. Park yourself in a sun lounger, mini beach house, or nest bed and promptly order yourself a passion fruit mezcalita (they make a mean one here).

Under-the-radar Puerto Morelos is a fishing village halfway between Cancún and Playa del Carmen, so one may find hours-fresh seafood to accompany those sweet beats. Another sparkling activity in Puerto Morelos is a trip to Jardín Botánico Dr. Alfredo Barrera Marín, Mexico’s largest botanical garden.

    15 OF 30

    Sail the Colorful Caribbean Sea

The Caribbean Sea has long attracted odes from explorers, poets, and water lovers enamored of its deep colors, warmth, and the way of life it invites. See the sun set in a fiery blaze on a small boat, catamaran, or yacht, and discover the true meaning of paradise. Sail to any of the nearby turquoise destinations such as Cozumel, Puerto Aventuras, Puerto Morelos, Cancún, or Isla Mujeres, which has a blockbuster underwater museum (MUSA) with life-sized sculptures decorating the seafloor. Most boat trips will include an open bar and snacks, while blowout options go further with DJs, karaoke, all-you-can-eat sushi, and paddleboards.

    16 OF 30

    Sample Seriously Scrumptious Seafood

In Playa, there are a jillion places to eat wonderful seafood and juicy fish tacos dripping with spicy sauces and more guacamole than you know what to do with. Thompson Playa del Carmen’s rooftop restaurant Cinco affords scintillating views along with tasty treats of the sea like scallop aguachile, marinated octopus tacos, and a heart-stealing Cajun shrimp. You can feast on the catch of the day at El Pirata where local fishermen bring in the goods each morning and you can see and choose your preferred fish. Chiltepín on 34th Street North is perennially packed. The tuna burger here is excellent as is the mixed ceviche (and pretty much everything else). Dive into a generous gourmet tostada at Quinta’s Las Hijas de la Tostada or sample the mountainous seafood tower at Ojitos Mios, which is also on Fifth Avenue.

INSIDER TIPThompson Playa del Carmen has one of the city’s most celebrated (and plentiful) Sunday brunches up on the roof. After your four-course feast, you can head over to the infinity pool to enjoy a live DJ set and you’ll get a 10% discount on any subsequent consumption.

    Test Your Knowledge on Tuesdays

Tuesday evenings in Playa unquestionably belong to Laura’s Quiz Night. Visitors, as well as locals, flock to this fun trivia held weekly at 7 p.m. at Buzo’s seafood restaurant. You can go with friends or arrive alone and join a team—this event is the cornerstone of Playa’s English-speaking community where many newcomers build their social networks. There are riveting new questions every single week and you’ll never be short of chuckles. Entry costs 50 pesos and you’ll automatically be entered into a raffle to win exciting prizes. Miss this at your peril.

    18 OF 30

Dance or Sing the Night Away

This wouldn’t be a Playa del Carmen ultimate guide without a nod to the throbbing nightlife because this city certainly knows how to have a good time. Most nightclubs are concentrated around Quinta and 12th Street including Coco Bongo which was once voted the best club in the world. Packed with endless performances, Coco Bongo is a Vegas-meets-Mexico music, dance, and light show with sprinkles of confetti thrown in for good measure.

Venue hopping is the way to go in Playa and some noteworthy spots to get your party on include La Embajada, palm-fringed rooftop club Clandestino, and Santino, which is a two-story club that caters to lovers of reggaeton and electronic music, a seemingly unfathomable combination. Tequila Barrel has dancers and entertainment but if you’d rather amuse yourself, belt out karaoke hits at Club Social where Playa’s ex-pats tend to flex their vocal cords. You’ll meet more locals at the curiously named Los Olvidados (“the forgotten ones”) and La Cucaracha (“the cockroach”). These low-key Playa karaoke stalwarts exist right next to each other on Sixth Street.

    Quaff Craft Beer

When you’ve had your fill of Dos Equis, Modelo, and Corona, move onto some quality craft beer courtesy of Mexico’s many breweries. You won’t find a wider selection than at Club de la Cerveza, which has indoor and outdoor seating and walls nostalgically affixed with international beer brand paraphernalia. Chela de Playa is an independent cervecería with a cool location just off Fifth Avenue with a parched cenote at its doorstep. Cervecería Chapultepec appears to have an outpost on every corner of Playa’s centro and its popularity is tied to its genius “everything’s the same rock bottom price” concept.

    20 OF 30

    Embrace Huichol Culture

Forgo the wooden iguanas, charm bracelets, and kitschy mini sombreros on Quinta and opt instead for meticulously handcrafted Huichol art. Mexico’s Wixárika people, also known as the Huichol, are one of the most ancient Indigenous cultures in the world. The group settled in the states of Jalisco, Durango, and Nayarit along the Sierra Madre Occidental, but you can find their intricately beaded artworks right on Playa’s main street. Tierra Huichol (Huichol Land) on Fifth Avenue and 40th Street is a visual feast of a gallery and store where you can appreciate and explore colorful Huichol art, symbols, and patterns that all have deep spiritual significance. No two pieces are the same and there’s something splendid for every budget.

    Fill up on Street Food

Who knows a city better than the locals? The parking lot by the Mega Soriana supermarket on 30th Avenue and 14th Street North has some mighty cheap and cheerful choices of street food. Investigate which truck has the most people sitting on the makeshift chairs and side stoops and then follow their lead.

Some of the food trucks have names while others simply display menus and promising slogans. Of the titled trucks, La Compa makes a sizzling quesabirria taco, and slightly up the road, the Belgian food truck La Frit serves frikandellen and Dutch bitterballen that are just as delicious as you might enjoy at a stalletje (little food stand) in Holland.

    22 OF 30

Make a Splash at Punta Esmeralda

Punta Esmeralda stands out among Playa del Carmen’s sandy stretches due to one fun fact: it’s a cenote connected to the Caribbean Sea. The cenote waters flow directly into the sea forming a natural shallow pool. The water is warm, access is free, and there are no commercial beach clubs. Far off the beaten path, Punta Esmeralda is on the north of Playa del Carmen just past 110th Street. Locals love this totally open cenote so it’s advisable to visit on a weekday to escape the crowds.

    23 OF 30

    Paddleboard at Sunrise

For good vibes at sunrise, hotfoot it to Fusion Beach Bar where Aloha Paddle Club convenes to enjoy the sea on paddleboards. There are also morning and sunset sessions if waking up at the cock’s crow doesn’t quite appeal to you. Aloha is one of the top-rated water sports companies in Playa and their smiley, superstar instructors also lead private cenote paddleboard tours, surf classes, and supremely fun SUP yoga classes.

    Groove to Live Music

Living la Vida Playa means being regularly serenaded by live music. This can be a gift or a curse depending on the volume of the music and your motivation on any given day. To happily drink up live sounds, check out Baton Rouge, Caiman, or Fah, one of Playa’s first live music bars. If you like rock, Onyx Bar is your best bet. Delight in mood-pleasing music, Mexican wine, and a cheese board at Off the Vine, Playa’s premier wine bar (and a popular date night spot). La Vagabunda’s special sauce is Mexican food with a twist and bringing in brilliant musicians. Both of its locations are worth a visit, if only for the tunes alone.

INSIDER TIPTimings and schedules for Playa’s live events are best tracked on Mexpats, a community created and run by local entrepreneur Rodrigo Sagastegui.

    25 OF 30

Lose Track of Time at Parque Los Fundadores

Coming full circle to where your adventure most likely began, Parque Los Fundadores at the very start of La Quinta is the city’s most recognizable landmark. This seaside park has a towering bronze statue titled Portal Maya which was placed during Playa del Carmen’s celebrations for the end of the Mayan long count calendar. Right by the monument, there are 20-30 minute performances by the Voladores de Papantla, aerial showmen performing a rainfall-invoking ritual hanging upside down from a sizeable pole. Aztec warriors also make an appearance.

Playenses (as Playa del Carmen residents are called) congregate here to let life slow to a crawl, watch the performers, have a nice cold beverage, and give themselves the gift of sunset. You should, too.

    26 OF 30

    Get Sandy at the Beaches

With 20 miles (32 kilometers) of shoreline, Playa del Carmen is promising for beach lovers. Generally, the further you get from the center of town, the quieter the beaches are. Playa Mamitas, one of the busier beaches, holds appeal for those that want it all: people-watching, mariachi bands, jewelers hawking their wares, and even well-seasoned grasshoppers to snack on if that tickles your fancy. Want to play beach volleyball? Head north to Playa 88 in the Colosio neighborhood. Being wider, cleaner, and more tranquil, locals largely assert that Playacar is the best beach in Playa del Carmen. Coco Beach is another sweet spot to enjoy the sound of waves gently hitting the shore.

INSIDER TIP“Playa” is Spanish for “beach” and every single one of them here—even a resort beach—is free and open to the public, so you can park your towel and soak up the sun anywhere you like.

    27 OF 30

    Be Spellbound in Magical Bacalar

Lake Bacalar is more commonly referred to by its nickname—Lagoon of Seven Colors (Laguna de Los Siete Colores). This freshwater lake in the Pueblo Mágico (“Magic Town”) of Bacalar dances between seven spellbinding shades of blue and turquoise, and it’s a popular destination for day-trippers from Playa. An overnight stay is more than worth it, however.

    Go Salsa Dancing on Sundays

Blissed-out Sunday afternoons at Zenzi Beach turn into electric nights where salsa-loving merry-makers gather to be swept away by a live band. Even if you’re unskilled on the dance floor, this beach club offers a fun atmosphere, live music performances, and feet-in-the-sand magic under twinkling string-lit palm trees any day of the week.

    29 OF 30

    Explore Secret Rivers

Word got out about Río Secreto (Secret River) long ago and this 100 percent Mexican-owned nature reserve is one of Playa del Carmen’s top attractions. Adventure lovers revel in swimming, snorkeling, diving, and cycling through this extensive network—around eight miles—of colorful river caves and mighty rock formations that wouldn’t be out of place in a sci-fi blockbuster. Expert guides lead you through this underground marvel and it’s a perfect activity for rainy days that render the beaches off-limits.

    30 OF 30

    Dine in a Luxurious Cave

Dress to impress and make your way to Benito Juarez Avenue, where a dinner cave awaits to whet your appetite.Alux is a sleek fine dining experience in a cave dating back thousands of years. The restaurant is entirely underground but you can discard all thoughts of a damp, dingy bat-infested cavern—Alux was practically designed for photo ops. Elaborate chandeliers, neon catchphrases, and well-lit stalactites make up the décor, and owing to the uniqueness of the venue, Alux is a top pick for special occasions.

St. Petersburg . Even with the road. They can be bought for only 31.7 thousand rubles. for two .

Next comes Sochi , then Abkhazia, Kaliningrad and Kavminvody . All these tours can be purchased by paying a minimum of less than 60 thousand rubles. for two in 10 days.

Of the foreign non-beach destinations, the most affordable at prices Armenia ( 67 thousand rubles . for two for 10 nights).

Next are Uzbekistan and Istanbul (about 100 thousand for two). Well, Serbia , thanks to truly the highest prices for air tickets – even more expensive than the Seychelles with the Maldives, as we said in the previous review

Windy. Temperature was between 16 and 20 but felt more like 14 because of the ongoing strong wind.
Some rain, one sunny day out of seven 🙁
The wind is really annoying. It made us feel cold all the time. Luckily we brought enough warm clothes.

Holiday

Chilled holiday, except I got cold on the 3rd day of our holiday, but still tried to visit as many places as possible.

Weather

We been going to caleta de fuse for the last 6 years in December for two weeks and we had beautiful weather some days it can be windy and as for rain. ..it doesn’t last long and can usually walk in it and still be dry. A jacket or cardigan is necessary at a night time if you are going out.

Holiday

We loved Fuereventura the first time we went which was in 1992 and went to Coroleco which is 45 minutes from the airport and back then it wasn’t so built up and was lovely and the people were friendly.

We’ve been back once and found it too big for us now. We wanted something quiet which we found with Caleta de Fuse and it is only 9 miles from airport and it such a lovely place. The beach and harbour is shaped like a horse shoe lovely hotels there and plenty of restaurants, the ones we like is The Great Wall of China, The Angus Steak Bar plus The Dog and Duck is very well priced.

I would recommend this place to anyone .

Places Recommended

If you hire a car go down to Jander it about a 2 hour drive through beautiful country side and worth a visit to see its light house and the beach. On the way there is a parrot park with camels and if you go to Caleta de Fuse there is chipmonks for you to feed. There is only a few now years ago there was hundreds of them.

Another thing I recommend is for you to go and see Harvey the seal in the harbour.

Have been for the past 4 years and have only had the occasional drop of rain and that has mainly been either early morning or the evening, but not enough to spoil our holiday.

Absolutely and totally brilliant. We go year after year. This will be our 5th year. We love the island and the lazy way of life.
Jandia is nice and quite. If you want night life then this is not the place for you. If you require a bit more life then you should try Corrallo.

Very hot in July, was there during the World Cup football, very friendly and very good in all and also very nice along the beach and cafes.

Going back in November.

Holiday

Stayed in Barcelo Jandia Playa Hotel it was very good and the staff were very helpful.

We have been there 5 times now, and we are always looked after very well. The beaches are very clean and most hotels have there own private beach. Nightlife in the hotel is good.

Places Recommended

You will have to go to the south of the Island beaches for African markets. They are very cheap but you must barter with them to get a good deal.

Watch out for some of the Africans ladies they grab you and put on a bralet then ask you for money.

Weather

Amazing.
Been for last 10 years over every month except July, all year round best weather.
One or two showers during their “winter months” average rainfall (mostly showers) 12-16 days PER YEAR.
The odd day of more persistent rain, but overall, nothing to create about.

Holiday

Always excellent.
Weather plays a big part.
Have a small bungalow in Caleta de Fuste. Less than 10 minutes travel from the airport, so no long transfers.

Places Recommended

Betancuria, up in the mountains, long journey up the mountain road, but a lovely little old village.
Puerto del Rosario for the Las Rotundas shopping centre and lovely harbour area.
El Cotillo for the beautiful beach. Gran Tarajal, La Lajita, Costa Calma, Jandia, all lovely places and many inland villages.
Corraleyo with the big water park and yacht harbour – lots of harbour restaurants and bars.
Of course Caleta itself, lots of facilities and restaurants/bars/entertainment.

Weather

The weather was perfect all the time. It is all the time a specific island wind but this is very nice especially for lovers of water sports.

In the morning is sometimes a bit cloudy but the sun always pops up and does not disappoint.

Sometimes it rains and is cloudy but is just fine how to succeed to take a break so you don’t burn your skin.

Holiday

I’ve been in Fuerteventura for several times. A couple of times in April and May and then in November.

The island’s beaches are fabulous especially lovely dunes of Corralejo and areas for kite and water sports.

The food is very good and varied. There are many types of restaurants and also you can buy anything from the shops.

I love that you can eat fish and fresh seafood, which the Mainland is not so easy to accomplish (especially at my home).

Places Recommended

It is very good to rent the car and to walk the entire island because everywhere there are interesting beaches and wonderful places with amazing views.

I recommend visiting Betancuria, Jandia beach where you can socialize and feed squirrels that are very close and friendly people.

Also seen Cofete area-spectacular protected area-recommended visit by car.

Very pleasant is to swim with the seals –this is possible in Caleta de Fuste from what I know.

My holiday was great although it was a little sad to discover that holiday complex break inns are becoming more frequent.

Although I would advise that if you get drunk and leave your doors open or unlocked then like the UK your open to opportunist burglary’s.

As for muggings, none take place but again insurance companies seem to be taking a hit by bogus claims.

Places Recommended

Do go to Porta Del Rossario and explore the island either by car or coach as it’s well worth it.

Try eating out instead of in your complex all the time, the restaurants do have a good selection of food and it is always fresh.

Even the chip loving Brits can get basic English food at all the local bars and restaurant’s.
Or try Spanish food as it’s great!

It was very hot and always felt like 35-37 degrees Celsius.

Even the odd waves of wind were warm and the evenings would still feel hot.

Holiday

Fuerteventura is good enough to feel like your new home!

You feel the healthy heat as soon as you step off the plane.

You will not want to go back to the UK.

The food was very good too!

The sun would start to set round 8/9ish.

We only saw a few mosquito%u2019s one day and I was even bitten by one in the leg but lucky there was an on-site nurse. They’re not the dangerous ones so nothing to worry about really.

I would definitely go back and stay at a different resort each time.

Places Recommended

Anywhere on the island!

Drive along the FV-2 COASTLINE and visit all areas.

The yellow dessert near Corralojo, Gran Tarajal, Costa Calma, Caleta de Fuste are all good places to visit.

The weather was glorious: sunshine each and every day,

We stayed at Costa Calma for the third year running and the beach is just the best.

If you want a relaxing break then this is the place to go; if you want more of a busy place, then maybe not as this is still unspoilt and pure.

Jandia has a good shopping centre, only a short bus ride away. the breeze was most welcomed as so hot and the breeze is warm- a pure delight.

Holiday

We have been to Fueterventura three years running now and will keep returning for our relaxing holiday.
My husband and I both have very busy lives and this is our time together, so we insist on the best places, at a most reasonable price.

Costa Cama beach is the best.

I have been to Corralejo three times and intend going again at end of October 2012. The last visit was in June and, as you would expect, the weather was glorious. Previous two visits were in October and we were not disappointed. A light cardigan at night, if you tend to feel the cold.

Holiday

Every time we’ve been and we step off the plane we just feel so relaxed. I’d read this about Fuerteventura, but didn’t know if it was for real, but it really is. We’ve stayed in three different apartments and have decided to return to Dunas Club near the harbour; so handy with lovely staff.

5th Avenue restaurant is excellent and for a drink, Champions Bar or Rosie Grady’s. There are lots to choose from that are fantastic, but these are our favourites.

Hot, windy, quiet and relaxing; lovely wide long beaches, safe bathing. Just remember to take or buy plenty of sun cream – please note that even if the sun may be hidden by a rare cloud, you will still burn from U.V Rays, not forgetting the wind burn!

Holiday

Fuerteventura is the best place we have visited in Europe: the cleanest, warmest and cheapest place we have found. Very highly recommended. We doubt that you will find anywhere better!

Places Recommended

The best resort by far is Costa Caletta: some class it as a pensioners’ resort, but others, such as us, do not, even though we are pensioners of 71 years young.

There is plenty to do for both young and old, the resort is by far the cleanest place we have ever been to on the European continent, food is cheap as are all the beers and lagers. The best hotel we have found is ‘Blue Sea Caletta Gardens’: the rooms are very clean, very adequate and large; you can choose from single beds to very comfortable doubles; and you can have either self catering, half board, or all inclusive. Our next visit will be our 5th to this resort.

There are plenty of coastal walks and also walks up into the mountains. You can also feed some of the wildlife along the cliff tops, such as the ever so friendly ‘chipmunks’ who will take monkey nuts out of the palm of your hand!

Weather

The weather was most unusual for the time of year, apparently.

We had cold weather (14C) all week with winds that lessened from gale force at the beginning of the week to breezy at the end.

Out of the wind, it was warm enough to sit in the sunshine, but it was a case of finding the right spot.

All the locals apologised for the cold – they felt it more than us!

We found everyone very friendly and helpful, with the whole island like one big village.

We’ll definitely go again – but will check the temperatures first!

Holiday

We stayed in a friend’s beautiful villa, overlooking the sea.

We ate out in various local restaurants and found a large variety of restaurants to suit all tastes.

We hired a car and toured most of the island, which was fascinating although not too many highlights.

Normally, we’d have just lazed in the sun, but it was too cold for that, so we explored instead.

Weather was very very hot most days, but the breezes made it feel comfortable. It actually rained a couple of times but only drizzle and was not a problem. Nights were a little cooler, could not fault it, I dont think you can fail to be impressed with the weather in the Canary Islands.

Holiday

Staying at Oasis Village, it was very average, not nearly enough staff around, entertainment quite amateur, daytime activities practically non existent. Beaches around Corralejo are very very nice, exploring rock pools is good, some very nice restaraunts (we were all inclusive but ate out a LOT). Shops are varied and plenty of them.

Places Recommended

Lanzarote for a day trip, Corralejo Harbour quite beautiful, even at night. Baku Water Park is not recommended, neither is the market there (on Mondays and Fridays), you can buy stuff cheaper in local shops.

Weather

Our first holiday to Fuerteventura, was greeted with surprise, what a lovely relaxing island – that was what the holiday was about to lie read and chill all week.

The weather in June 09 was glorious, a little cloudy in the mornings, but the sun always came through.

Holiday

We stayed in the Vila Rosario on the Turicomplex in Caleta de Fuste, and were pleasantly surprised – a large two bedroom villa with everything anyone would need, the private pool was just great.

We went down town in the morning, about half a mile for breakfast and to pick up the newspaper, it was cheap to eat breakfast out, lots of competition on the prices. Picked up a light lunch from the supermarket and headed back to our villa for the day.

I read 5 books that week, and got an amazing sun tan.

We ate out every evening trying different restaurants, I can’t say any one stood out, but we was never dissapointed.

There was a bar with live acts every night, which we always ended up at, some very good entertainment.

Places Recommended

We never travelled the island, just lay and read, but we had a good walk round the coast and managed to spot the chipmunks on the rocks, amazing.

We relaxed and chilled so much, we are now returning for our second visit, October 09, but are going to try Corralejo, will let you know how it goes.

Must say the climate really suited us, and the breeze was very welcome.

Holiday

Brilliant, stayed in Oasis village hotel on a all inclusive. unlimited snacks drinks and icecream was brilliant!
We originaly booked to stay in Club Las Olas Hotel, but after one day I arranged to speak to my rep because the hotel was so bad!
The rep quickly moved us to Oasis Village hotel and we had a excellent time.
The only thing that i disliked about the hotel is that birds kept flying in the restaurant and landing on the food.

Holiday

We stayed at Hotel Villas de Sol, just outside Corrallejo so you do need a car to get into Corrie unless you are very keen on keep fit. They are the best accom we have stayed at on the island . Totally self contained and private. Spacious and very clean. If you want night life then you need to go into Corrie.

It has tv. dvd player washing machine sound centre hairdryer iron and board.

So you can cut down on what you take.

Weather

Ubiquitous cold wind, downpours, showers, some sun, managed to get a tan in 7 days but only by stripping off every time sun came out from behind a cloud. Sky was constantly in motion.

Great sunsets. I saw the most amazing rainbow whilst doing Quigong on the beach just outside the hotel.

Holiday

Best bit of holiday was the hotel. Reluctant to name it in case we go back and it is booked up:) Oh, OK – it was the very attractive Hesperia Bristol, most northerly point of Correlejo. Lovely staff, all requests attended to, if you don’t like the location of your well-equipped apartment you can change at any point during your stay, subject to availability.

Spotlessly clean, a safe-feeling enclosed well lit triangular complex with three interlocking pools and beautifully maintained gardens, a tiny supermarket and a laundry. A different entertainment every night if you wanted – we competed at rifle-shooting and stroked pythons of various sizes, gave performing parrots and karioke a miss. They have a restaurant in the riad-style reception building, but we did self catering (amazing supermarkets in town) and eating out.

Places Recommended

We found a restaurant La somethingorother Del Pescadores (sorry:) at the north end of the harbour which had massive plates of delicious tapas and friendly staff, and went back three times after trying other uninspiring places.

Went go-karting in Calete del Fuste.

Also jet skiing in Correlejo harbour, very well supervised and a whole CD of pics offered at the end.

Swam on beach in the dunes near Riu hotels. Lovely clean turquoise water.

Went to Los Lobos island, great glass-bottomed boat with all round visibility.

Long drive down to Morro Jable and Jandia beaches, probably great in high summer for swimming but we bought ice-creams, swapped our hire car which had developed a fault on the trip down, and drove straight back, hard to understand why so many people recommend it – soulless. Drove through the volcanos in the south, terrific views westwards.

We had 7 days great weather with only 2 afternoons which clouded pver.

The temperature was around 72 degees all week but when in the sun and out of the wind felt much warmer. got a great tan.

Holiday

We have just returned from our 3rd winter break at this hotel.

Once again the whole holiday has been great.

We were welcomed with a bottle of Champagne in our room as returning guests. Not a great deal in an all inclusive hotel but it shows some thought has gone into it. We requested (by e-mail) a room in a certain area of the hotel and got exactly the one I asked for. (7301 great views of sea pool area and coast line towards sotavento beach.)I posted a review of this hotel 2 years ago and was amazed when I read some of the reviews on this and other sites regarding the refurbishment of the pool areas. I found that it was done in such a way that it caused little or no problem. There is so much space around the pool area that you can be away from any work area as these were closed off areas anyway.

This hotel is open all year round so how people expect this routine maintenance to be carried out is beyond me.

The food is varied and very good it offers a wide range and caters for all tastes.

People have also commented on how the Germans seem to dominate the place, they are the majority but are not any different than anyone else on holiday there.

There is an area at the bottom end of the pool areas that is sectioned off and is designated as a naturist area. There is also a sauna and steam room for guests in this area. No one bothers if you go in there keep you shorts or bathing costume on, but some protocol is expected.(sit or lie on a towel with feet on it as well, to absorb sweat) I feel this should be stated at the welcome meeting to save any embarrassment.

The walk to Jandia is fantastic along the beach. You can feed the chipmunks along the way.

Jandia is a resort that caters mainly for Germans but a bar with a beer is a bar with a beer.

The entertainment in the hotel this year was better than last with a Drifters tribute, Tropicana dancers and a comedy Acrobat troop that were good, we gave the Animation teams efforts a miss and enjoyed a beer in the Coco Loco Bar (thanks Eric)

This hotel is great for anyone looking to chill out and relax for a week. I would not think it would suit teenagers looking for some lively entertainment, but for a winter break it fits the bill to a tee.

Unfortunately some guests leave all their wastes around the swimming pool, it becomes quickly very dirty. If you stay there you are away from town, beaches, they offer 2 free shuttles per day, and you can find everything in the resort….but I would advise to rent a car if you want to explore the island.

Location was strange: nearest good beach is 18 minutes drive… So, if all you need is a beach – this is not the best location for you. It is quiet and pieceful there at an outskirt of volcanic desert thou, so, I believe, this location will attract some people. Equipment and size of the “villas” leaves room for improvement: here’s plenty of unused ground, but houses are tiny. Equipment is outdated: TV was small and could not play anything from the 256Gb USB flash drie I brought with me, there is no microwave and cooking pots are all scratched from inside. There are ants in some bedrooms and you can’t get rid of them. Water pressure in upper shower is almost non-existent. Kid’s pool ius a gem: it is heated, so even at bad weather kids can enjoy their rides, but due to lack of rules, fines and cameras that pool is quite often closed because of “technical grounds”, which sometime float in its water and smell badly. General impression of the streets of that estate/village is pretty dull: pavement on footpaths is almost all destroyed and was not maintained for years, road signs are rusty with holes in them, swimming pools (other that the two at aqua park) are either closed and not maintained or are for private use of local home owners. Information stands are mostly showing outdated information, like an entertainment programm from February while it is now May or advertisement of handcraft market, which has not been happening in past several months. Grocery shop in the “village” is small and very expensive, so you’d be better off buying groceries somewhere else, for example in HiperDino in Lajares (10 min drive). Variety and class of the food in cantine could have been better. It is all tasty, just a bit “the same” all the time and you won’t ever find something like spanish jamon or sparkling wine.

Staff at the bars, in cantine, at the pools and kids’ entertiners – are all very friendly and professional. Some people at the reception are also very professional and effective, others are not. Kids playground, mini-golf and garden near it are great. Houses are well built, most of them are far enough from the reception/cantine/pool area and it is quiet and peaceful there all the time. In general, they are small but quite comfy. Food we were geting for breakfasts and dinners was always tasty, clean, the cantine in general is very well maintianed and guests are well serviced there. Idea of having “all you can drink” for 3 EUR per person at the dinner time was good.

Unfortunately, the bed and couch weren’t very comfortable. The bed sounded like it was going to fall apart any time soon and our daughter hurt her head trying to rest her head on the (very hard!) armrest of the couch.
In the pool area the slides aren’t suitable for very small children who still need to be accompanied by an adult. This is not allowed. And on the slides for the adults, smaller children are not allowed. So the pool area looked great, but was a bit disappointing with a 2 year old.

The accomodation was clean and had everything we needed. Even a washing machine! You can park the car in front of your door. The supermarket in the resort was very handy and the staff very helpful and friendly.

loud dining area, quite remote, children wave pool not running.

Bungalows where large, luxurious, clean and private really good value for money. Breakfast was also very delicious with pancakes, fresh fruits, etc. dinner was good especially if you like seafood. The steaks and chicken were unfortunately almost always very over-cooked and dry. But the garniture, salads, nice wines, fruits, delicious cheese and cake made it up for it. You should go for seating in outside area as restaurant gets very loud (seems not thought though when building dinning location). The weekly trip to the volcano via kids club was amazing with Alex and Spyros both very nice and good with kids. Vicky in the reception was exceptionally customer service minded and we had one day of breakfast and dinner before deciding if going for 1/2 pension or not. Which we did and I think is a bargain for 18 Eur pr adult for breakfast incl. drinks and lunch or dinner incl. drinks. We stayed 9 nights 2 adults and 2 kids and would be happy to come again but recommend to rent a car as it is quite remote.
Thanks so much for a lovely stay
