Things to do in Mallorca in Winter
When thinking of Mallorca most people have pictures of summer, sun and beach in their mind. But the Island is also a wonderful destination to travel to in winter!
In general, the winter is very mild on the Island with January and February being the coldest months. The minimum temperature is 6 degrees, but during the day the temperature can climb to 15 to 20 degrees on sunny days. It rains more often than in summer but on average only 6-8 days per month. Even if in the typical touristy places, such as the Playa de Palma, Magaluf or Alcudia many of the hotels, restaurants and cafés are closed, there is still a lot going on in the capital Palma de Mallorca and in the less touristy places. Read on to find out why a trip to Mallorca can be an absolute highlight in winter as well!
1. Visit Palma de Mallorca
Personally, I like Palma, the capital of Mallorca, best in winter. It is so much quieter and more relaxed in the city centre and the atmosphere is very different from the summer when the streets are crowded during the day. On sunny winter days you can enjoy a cappuccino or a glass of beer outside in the streets and enjoy the sun. It is also worth visiting the famous cathedral of Palma de Mallorca in winter, as there will be less people. If it should rain, I recommend a cosy breakfast in one of our favourite cafés .

2. Shopping
The winter is perfect for a relaxed shopping tour in Mallorca since there are fewer people in the boutiques and in the streets. In Palma most of the shops are open all day from Monday to Saturday.
It is also worth visiting the Mallorca Fashion Outlet. The Outlet is about 10 minutes drive from Palma and offers a variety of brands at reduced prices. Especially when it is raining, a visit to the outlet is a great idea, because besides all the shops there are also some restaurants, cafes and a big cinema, where some of the movies are shown in English. The Mallorca Fashion Outlet is open 7 days a week from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.
3. Hiking in the mountains or at the coast
Winter is hiking time in Mallorca! In summer it is often too hot for long hiking trips but in winter there is no excuse! Especially in the Tramuntana mountains, in the northeast of the island, there are beautiful hiking trails, where you can make stops in the beautiful villages of the island. Another idea is to drive to the east of the island and walk alongside the coast, for example from Cala Romantica to Cala Varques .

4. Discover beaches and walk along the beach
To the beach at 18 degrees? Yes, it’s worth it! In Mallorca, there are countless beaches and bays where you can climb around a bit and take a stroll. And this is especially nice in the winter time, since it is even possible to be along at a beach, and believe me, this wont happen in the high season! Here are a few recommendations for beautiful “winter beaches”: Cala Llombards, Cala des Moro, Cala Varques, Sa Rapita, Port Alcudia

5. Visit Mallorcas villages
During the colder season you should definitely visit Mallorca’s mountain villages in the Tramuntana. In summer there is usually a lot going on here, but in winter there are fewer tourists in the small villages which creates an authentic and relaxed atmosphere. 6. Excursion to the Ses Fonts Ufanes
After heavy rains in the Tramuntana mountains you can experience a unique natural spectacle in the interior of Mallorca, near the village of Campanet, with a bit of luck. In the middle of the forest, water flows out of various spots on the ground, transforming the woods into a fairytale forest.

7. SPA & Wellness Day
On a cold, rainy day there is only one thing to do: heat yourself up in a spa! In Mallorca, there are countless hotels and many of them have saunas & SPAs that you can visit during the day without being a hotel guest. On the websites of hotelbreak and hoteltreats you will find some offers for Spa & Wellness days in hotels on the island.

What you need to know about Euro as the Canary Islands Currency
Going to the Canary Islands will be one of the best experiences you will have. But even before you get there, planning the trip can already get exciting. From booking your tours, plotting your itinerary and budgeting, the process can take a while. Which is why in this article, we will talk about money matters like the currency, how much should you bring, and other things you need to know before heading to your once in a lifetime vacation to the Canaries.
Planning your trip to the Canary Islands
Read on as we give you money tips and what you need to know about Euro as the Canary Islands Currency.
Canary Islands Currency: What you should bring
The currency used in the Canary Islands is Euros, which is what is used in most of Europe. 1 British Pound is equivalent to 1.1 Euros so it shouldn’t be too hard to convert. Knowing how much cash you should bring depends on your length of stay and your itinerary. But if you get short on cash, it shouldn’t be a problem because there are lots of ATMs all over the island. In fact, there is at least one ATM in each village. These ATMs take American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard, Cirrus, Visa and Visa Plus. Should you require bank service, banking hours on the Canary Islands generally open from 8:30 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon, with most branches being open Mondays through Fridays.
If you don’t plan on changing your Pounds to Euros all at once, that’s okay too. There are lots of foreign exchange places all over the place. You can take your pounds and have it exchanged in any bank, in most travel agencies, major hotels and of course, airports. If you’re not a fan of cash as most aren’t as well, MasterCard and Visa credit cards are accepted in main towns and cities. While the use of credit cards have become more common these days, bringing cash is still your safest option.
Euro Exchange Rate
Here’s a sample exchange rate for major currencies to euros. Please note that exchange rates vary everyday so it’s best to check the exchange rates for the day.
How much should you bring to Canary Islands?
Your budget to the Canary Islands will depend on your travel style. If you plan on doing a budget trip, then it will cost you about 50 Euros per day for accommodation, food, and other local transportation. Food can be as cheap as you want it to with all the options you can choose from. Now, if you’d like to go all out and have a luxurious trip, then you can prepare around 200 Euros a day, the bulk of which goes to accommodation.
Other Tips to keep your Money Secure
Always make sure that you go and exchange your money to a licensed money exchange establishment, be sure to count your money before leaving too.
Another tip is to keep your valuables secure and don’t put your money in one place. If you need to purchase a lock for your pieces of luggage and bags, please do so.
Also, keep your credit cards secure and check your statement online and check for your credit card purchases so you can inform your bank on any transaction that you think is odd.
But if you’d really like to explore the Canaries, then you need to save up and book your tours. There are tours that have been specifically designed to let you explore and maximise your time on the island. There are tours that give you the best value for your money such as the Grand Tour Tenerife or even the Big Gran Canaria Map Tour. If you were to go on one tour per day, then you must allot 50 Euros each. Some tours include lunches and even drinks so you can adjust your budget as well.
For a guaranteed value for your money and an unforgettable time, TravelON World offers the best tours all over the Canaries. You can book these tours ahead so that’s one less thing to worry about. You can also budget your trip easier because you would know how much these tours cost.
We hope this article helped you have an overview of the Canary Islands currency, and the money-related things with what you need to know about Euro as the Canary Islands Currency. With these in mind, you can go on your vacation hassle-free and without worrying about how much cash you’re going to bring!

Travelling abroad can be daunting, particularly if you’ve never done it before. Exchanging your Sterling for the local currency is essential, but learning how and where to use it on your holidays can be just as important! If you aren’t familiar with things like exchange rates or where to get hold of cash while you’re on holiday, here’s everything you need to know about the Canary Islands currency.
What is the Official Canary Islands Currency?
As part of an agreement with the EU, the Euro is the only form of Canaries currency that’s accepted as legal tender. You’ll see it represented as either ‘EUR’ or €. Before the Euro, the Canary Islands currency was the Spanish Peseta. This was taken out of circulation on January 1st, 2002. Pesetas are now worthless and cannot be changed up in banks or used in any financial transactions.
Finding the Low and the High Notes
Euro notes in the Canaries each depict something from Spanish culture, both ancient and modern. In the Canary Islands, currency notes are also given notably different sizes, so that the visually-impaired can feel which note is which. The smallest note is worth the least, starting at €5 and increasing in value and size, up to €500. Euros are different colours, making it easy for both the fully-sighted and the visually-impaired to distinguish between them. It’s worth remembering that many shops simply don’t have the change to deal with the larger notes, so you can make your life a lot easier by carrying only smaller denominations of Canary Island currency.
Using Euro Coins
Much like the British Pound and Pennies, one Euro equals 100 cents. These are available as 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50, before you get up to the Canary Island currency equivalent of the one and two-pound coins, the one and two Euro coins. Much like the notes, the Canaries currency carries pictures of Spanish culture, such as famous sculptures, buildings or pieces of art. While the currency the Canary Islands uses might be unfamiliar at first, paying for items with the right change can help you avoid coming home with a load of useless tender. Euro coins are too small in worth for banks to convert them back into Sterling.
Cards and Bank Charges
Traveller’s cheques were once an easy way to get Canary Islands currency, but they’re becoming less common. Credit and debit cards are a much better bet. There are plenty of ATMs in the larger towns and cities. Some British banks charge commission on cash withdrawals in other countries, so it’s worth checking with yours what they charge on Canary Island currency, before you go.

By saving this step, you will create a draft review. Fill in the 3rd step with a detailed description of your stay at the hotel, confirm adding a review and it will be able to influence the rating of the hotel.Your feedback is very important for everyone
Detailed reviews on our project help millions of people get a quality vacation that meets their expectations.
By leaving your opinion, you help not only with the choice of the right hotel, but also encourage hoteliers to improve the level of service, making the entire tourism industry better and more transparent. nine0019
It is your review that can be decisive when choosing a hotel for specific people.
How to write a good review
A rating review is a user review that affects the rating of a hotel. Below are simple tips on how to make your review rank.
Write for details
Write about the main criteria that affect the choice of a hotel by travelers: food, accommodation, service, territory.
Justify estimates
Reviews such as: “Everything was great”, “The hotel is terrible, I put deuces” are considered unreasonable and can be removed or transferred as thanks or claims. nine0019
Make text readable
Try to break the review into logical parts, so it is easier for travelers to find the details of interest. We also recommend avoiding large continuous volumes of text – break the text, for convenience, into paragraphs.
Add photo
Add only those photos where the hotel you are reviewing is visible. Photos will give your review increased relevance and trust from other travelers. The allowable size of the photo is 3000 px in width and 3000 px in height. Accepted format: JPG, JPEG. The maximum photo size is 12 MB. You can add up to 150 photos. nine0019
Participate in the tophotels rating and earn your rating
Not only hotels, but also users have ratings on TopHotels.
The more useful reviews and comments a registered tourist has, the higher his rating and readers’ trust. TopHotels also encourages active users with various awards that help to highlight opinion leaders and draw attention to their publications.
You can become one of them and help other users in choosing a hotel – just start sharing your impressions of the places you have visited. nine0019
Continue adding a review of the hotel
Adding photo materials is optional,
but significantly increases the interest and credibility of the review

The south of Tenerife is one of the most important tourist destinations in Europe. With millions of visitors a year, especially Europeans, it has gone specialised in sun and beach tourism. If it is the destination you have chosen for your holidays and you want to plan your activities, here are 5 things to do in Tenerife South.
5 Things to do in Tenerife South:
Enjoy its beaches
This is the main reason why tourists choose Tenerife South: Its warm climate and the perfect combination of sun, beach and leisure. This is the first thing to do in Tenerife South and these are some of the most popular beaches:
Located in the municipality of Adeje, in front of the luxury hotel Bahía del Duque is El Duque Beach. It is a beach of calm waters that counts on showers, points of vigilance and lifeguard, cafeterias, etc.
It also stands out in Adeje Playa Torviscas and Playa Fañabé, located together. They are among the largest in Tenerife, easily accessible and with fine sand. Not far from the above, you will find both Troya I and Troya II, in the area of the Americas, in front of the Troya and Palm Beach hotels. Its sand is slightly darker than its neighboring beaches and its calm waters will clear your mind.
Bathe in the crystal clear waters of the beautiful Playa del Duque.
In the municipality of Arona, next to Los Cristianos, you will find the beach of Las Vistas. This is an extensive beach that receives a lot of visitors, attracted by its beauty and turquoise waters. Moreover, this year 2019 continues to be awarded with a blue flag.
Relax on the Las Vistas beach.
Practicing other activities on the coast
Many other activities can be done on the above–mentioned beaches. For example, you can relax in the terraces, bars and beach bars, tasting some tapas accompanied by a cold beer and the best company. For the heat is the best remedy!
This time in the water, another activity that both visitors and locals like best is whale watching. Several companies organise excursions for small groups and, besides, usually offer a light cocktail and even a bath at sea.
Parascending, jet skiing, scuba diving, banana, surfing, windsurfing, flyboarding, paddleboard... Water sports have also found a place in the leisure offer of the south of Tenerife. You can go scuba diving to get to know the beautiful scenery that hides under the water or dare to parascending to feel the adrenaline and see the landscape from the air. Choose your favorite or just try them all!
Have fun surfing on the wonderful beaches of Tenerife
Spend the day in Siam Park
If you are looking for strong emotions, don’t hesitate to visit Siam Park, the best water park in the world according to TripAdvisor. Last year alone (2018) it reached 1. 3 million visitors. Therefore, I could not miss it in this list of things to do in Tenerife South.
With its Thai aesthetics, we present multiple attractions for all ages and all levels of adrenaline. In addition to the water slides, it has an artificial beach, bar-restaurant and a floating market. The visit to this water park will not leave anyone indifferent: it is the perfect plan for families, friends and couples.
Local Tip: To save time queuing and gain hours of fun it is possible to hire the Fast Pass Ticket. And farewell to the long waits!
Enjoy a sunny day at Siam Park.
Partying
Most of the plans on our list of things to do in Tenerife south are daytime. However, at night the south of the island is also characterized by its festive atmosphere. For the more animated we propose some places where you can party or just go for a drink.
In the Avenida de Las Verónicas, in Arona, is where there is more party in the south of Tenerife. Here you can find everything from English pubs to discos. One of the best known is the Papagayo Beach Club, located in front of Troya Beach. The Costa Adeje area also has a multitude of terraces and bars where you can listen to music or have a cocktail with friends. Among them are Achaman Discopub and Marina Beach Club.
For a more relaxed atmosphere with views of the beach, it is best to visit the premises close to Las Vistas beach. In spite of being a tourist area, it is frequented by more locals than in Las Verónicas. One of the most popular is the Magic Lounge Bar, right next to the Hard Rock Café.
Take a walk in Costa Adeje
Going hiking or walking
When you think of things to do in Tenerife South you are probably thinking of sun and beach. However, another recommended plan is to enjoy several routes for hiking and walking in the bush.
One of the best known is the Barranco del Infierno (Hell’s Ravine), in Adeje. Its abrupt character, hence its name, hosts a trail with waterfall included that has a length of 6500 meters (round trip). This translates into an approximate duration of three hours and medium difficulty.
If you have never been to the moon, you can always imagine that you were there, doing one of the Vilaflor trails and get to know the famous Lunar Landscape. Also, you will be able to appreciate the Pinar Canario, one of the most representative landscapes of the island.
More to the southwest of the island, one of the most beautiful excursions is the Barranco de Masca. A ravine with singular geography and breathtaking views. On the way, it is possible to visit Santiago del Teide, a charming village.
Hike through the incredible landscape of the south of the island.
Local Tip: In the ravine of Masca many tourists and locals link their walk with a boat that picks them up at the end of it.
The trails around Santiago del Teide are visually more beautiful in spring when almond blossoms take place and everything is dyed pink. A beautiful picture!
Closer to the coast but equally recommendable is the route of Roque del Conde. A circular path, based on an old agricultural path, which leads to the most emblematic rock on the south of Tenerife. From this area, you can not help but marvel at the incredible views offered by the southern coast.
These are some things to do in the south of Tenerife, but if you also want to tour the north of the island, do not miss this article with activities distributed by the different municipalities of Tenerife. And enjoy!

This will take you to the top of an extinct volcano at an altitude of 3. 355 sq.m. The view of the neighboring islands is breathtaking and a real eye-catcher in Tenerife itself. In spring, another unique attraction is added: Teide-Natterkopf , a giant red flowering plant that protrudes from the ground like giant candles.
Hint:
The highest point can be reached by a path from the cable car station. For this unforgettable experience, you need to apply for a special permit online in advance.Route and parking:

Masca village itself is one of Tenerife’s most authentic sights: Im a picturesque mountain village in the Teno mountains time seems to have stopped. Here you can still discover the authentic and charming village life of the Canary Islands. Hiking through the Maska Gorge is a must for active vacationers. Below is a beautiful landscape with fig and almond trees, date palms and agaves. Following a very good hiking trail, you will see a huge stone arch known as an elephant – a great photo opportunity! From this point on, the vegetation becomes more and more lush, and a wonderful spectacle of plants and flowers awaits you. At the end, you can cool off on a fantastic natural beach with crystal clear waters and enjoy a beautiful view of the island of La Gomera. Returning to Masca, you should definitely visit the wonderful restaurant La Pimentera.

The Tenerife ferry port is also located in Los Cristianos. From here, you can make the captivating trek to the beautiful sister islands of La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro, if you’re not already enchanted enough by the sights of Tenerife.4. Explore charming cities
One of the most beautiful cities of the island is La Orotava in the north . The architecture of the old town is beautiful and is one of the must-see attractions in Tenerife. In addition, excellent hiking trails along the green valley of Orotava beckon from here. Another attraction is the stunningly beautiful city of Puerto de la Cruz . The harbor is simply picturesque and the beautiful church of Nuestra Señora is worth seeing. In Puerto de la Cruz, a very special Tenerife attraction awaits you: the Jardín Botanico botanical garden offers an impressive collection of plants on 20.000 square meters and is uniquely designed with extensive paths, gazebos and amazing flower beds. After that, you can enjoy the view of Plaza del Charco with its beautiful fountain and old coves with good coffee.

Campus La Laguna
Hint:
To enjoy the two neighboring cities of La Laguna and Puerto de la Cruz in peace, it is worth staying overnight. In La Laguna, there are nicer and smaller hotels, such as the charming Casa Rural La Asomada Del Gato.5. Dive into Cueva del Viento
Cueva del Viento near Icod de los Vinos is another one of the natural wonders of the island and one of Tenerife’s attractions not to be missed! With a length of 18 km, Cueva del Viento is the largest volcanic chimney in Europe. Produced before 27,000 years ago, when the island’s second largest volcano, Pico Viejo, erupted, the lava hardened and turned into three caves. 200 m Wind Caves can be visited during an exciting excursion. It owes its name to the strong air currents in the channel.
It is also famous for the many unique living creatures that have been discovered here. Even the original inhabitants of Tenerife, the Guanches, worshiped the cave as a holy place. So a visit is a real highlight, but tickets need to be booked in advance on the site.

Tenerife is the most famous and picturesque island, which is part of the Canary archipelago. The top of the Teide volcano, located on it, is visible from ships approaching the Canary Islands. The highest point of the mountain is at an altitude of 3718 meters. This is the highest point not only in the Canary Islands, but also in Spain. In fact, the island of Tenerife is a huge mountain, “grown” from the sea.
Description of the island
The mountain ranges that descend from the crater of the volcano to the sea cut the island of Tenerife into amazing valleys. Its sights are, first of all, the extraordinary nature, which amazes everyone who comes here with its exquisite beauty. The capital of the island is the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Mount Teide reliably protects the southern half of the island from cool winds carrying clouds. Therefore, in the south of the island the climate is dry and hot, and in the north – mild and cool. Nevertheless, it is magnificent at any point, which allows tourists to enjoy both beach holidays and nature excursions.
The coast of the island is steep in some areas, with rocks and cliffs. For example, the cliffs of Los Gigantes break off from a great height (600 m). The rest of the coast is covered by magnificent beaches with clean and soft sand. On some beaches it is golden, and on some it is black, volcanic.
Tenerife Island: Attractions
The island has many interesting attractions – natural, historical, cultural. Today we will get acquainted with some of them so that you have a general idea of this wonderful place and a desire to come here in the very near future.
Auditorium
We will start exploring Tenerife sights not from luxurious natural monuments, of which there are a great many, but from this impressive concert hall, which is built in the shape of a wave. It’s called “Santiago Calatrava”. This is the main place on the island where music festivals and concerts are held. The famous Santa Cruz Symphony Orchestra works here. In the Auditorium, you can listen to chamber music, opera, see theatrical performances and dances, as well as zarzuela, a Spanish operetta.
Golf Club
It is impossible to imagine the sights of Tenerife without golf courses. Especially popular is Las Americas – a magnificent 18-hole course, 72 pairs. It is located between Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas. Picturesque canals, palm trees and a beautiful view of the sea give this place an unusual atmosphere of the tropics. A golf shop, a bar-restaurant, putting greens and driving ranges are at guests’ disposal.
Jungle Park
And now we will go to the most visited sights of Tenerife. These, of course, include Jungle Park, located next to Los Cristianos and Las Americas. On an area of 75,000 sq. m of this amazing park are the jungle. Today, more than 500 animals live in it.
Here tourists can watch tigers and lions, cougars and a huge number of monkeys. Walking through the park, you can be very close to them. Visitors will be separated from animals only by glass.
Catamaran “Lady Shelley”
Let’s continue to describe the sights of Tenerife. The unique catamaran “Lady Shelley” is not a simple vessel, it has a glass bottom. The catamaran cruises daily from Los Cristianos in Tenerife. As a rule, trips last about five hours and pass through areas where you can see dolphins and whales. On the trip, tourists are accompanied by a team of guides who speak many languages, including Russian. They are very interesting guide tours and happy to answer questions from travelers.
Masca
This amazing place Masca, which is limited by steep gorges, was not accessible to the public until recent years. Now in this virgin area guided tours.
Wildlife Park
When exploring the sights of Tenerife, one cannot fail to mention this park. It is known for some of the most amazing scenery in the world, most notably a gigantic volcanic crater with a diameter of 16 km.
In winter, the peak of Mount Teide is covered with snow, which sometimes descends to the mountain slopes. Tourists are brought to the top by a cable car, but most travelers prefer to walk this route to enjoy the unique fauna and flora of the National Park.
The diverse vegetation in the Teide Crater has adapted perfectly to the altitude, low temperature and lack of moisture. The famous Canarian cedars grow on its cliffs – these are the only trees in the National Park. The most widespread plant of these places is the Teide broom, which in spring is covered with a huge number of pink and white inflorescences. In addition, a large number of wild animals live here, including crocodiles, lizards, vultures, rabbits and bats.
Tenerife, Playa de Las Americas: attractions
This is a wonderful European resort town. It is located in the south of the island of Tenerife (Canary Islands). The sights of this city annually attract thousands of tourists from all over the world.
This popular resort is designed for fun and relaxation. A huge number of entertainment facilities are concentrated here. Las Americas (Tenerife), whose sights are well known to those who have vacationed in Spain, is a very picturesque place.
In 2008, Siam Park opened here – a magnificent water kingdom of entertainment, a true tropical paradise for lovers of water attractions, ocean water pools and artificial waves for surfers. This year-round park is served by free buses both from the center of this city and from neighboring resorts – Costa Adeje and Los Cristianos.
It is unlikely that anyone will be left indifferent by a cable car ride to the top of Mount Teide. From the top of this volcano, magnificent views open for many kilometers. Many note that the Teide volcano itself resembles some kind of fantastic Martian landscape with unknown cities and oceans frozen in lava.
In the evening it is worth visiting the Exit Palace, which is famous for its spectacular shows. Impressions from visiting will last for a year, until the next vacation.
Attractions of Adeje
A bit to the west of the youthful, lively and rather noisy resort of Las Americas is a resort of a slightly different level – Costa Adeje. The sights of this city, its measured rhythm of life attract wealthy family travelers here.
The border between these two resorts, one might say, is conditional – it is a narrow dry canal. Therefore, tourists have the opportunity to spend time in two towns at the same time. The resort of Adeje was created for wealthy and respectable tourists who want to spend their money on restaurants and entertainment. The streets of the city are filled with boutiques of various popular European and world brands.
Adeje (Tenerife) has a wide variety of attractions. Costa Adeje has the best golf courses, the magnificent Aqualand water park, expensive shops, saunas and spas, luxurious restaurants, casinos and bars. Guests of the city have the opportunity to go swimming and diving, make exciting boat trips and watch whales and pilot whales. The colony of these creatures has 250 individuals.
The most popular excursion in Costa Adeje is a fascinating walk to the Hell’s Gorge Nature Reserve. The route to the gorge, six kilometers long, starts outside the city of Adeje. In time, this route takes about 5 hours. The path winds through the gorge and goes to the waterfall (the only one on the island). This is a source of fresh water. Moving towards the center of the gorge, the road begins to narrow. A large number of cacti grow on the hills. In the gorge there are caves in which the Guanches once lived – the indigenous population of the Canary Islands.
Tourists are offered another exciting hiking route. It leads to the Roque del Conde. Its length is also six kilometers, it lasts four hours. The route starts near the city of Arona, crosses two very picturesque gorges.
Adeje has many historical buildings, including the Casa Fuerte, built in 1555 to protect against pirate attacks. You cannot enter Casa Fuerte – it is closed to the public.

This world-class attraction has been included by many travel experts as one of the “things to do before you die”, and one of the most romantic experiences in nature. A giant natural pool with a live aquarium underneath…
We adore this place…and so does everyone we know. So much fun for the kids, so romantic for couples, so connecting for nature lovers. The nickname says it all…”Gilligan’s Island“, a tiny paradise where one could easily dream of being lost away from it all. This tiny mangrove island formally named Cayo Aurora has the clearest water in Puerto Rico all year round. The bottom is white and the “pool” is shallow, making it safe for children to swim where they can see schools of fish swim around their feet. Caja de Muertos Island – Ponce, PR
Gorgeous beach, hiking, snorkeling, and blissful seclusion
Caja de Muertos, located off the coast of the city of Ponce on the south coast of the island. This island is one of the most underrated places in Puerto Rico. The island is a nature reserve, this is the kind of island a developer or cruise line would pay a high dollar to acquire. The little accessibility has kept Caja de Muertos sort of a secret, that even a few residents of Puerto Rico have visited.
This uninhabited island is home to Playa Pelicano which has won the Blue Flag award for many years. You can enjoy a full day of beach-combing, suntanning, and snorkeling. If you’re staying in Ponce, Playa Pelicano is truly the only beach by our standards.

Museo de Arte de Ponce
A must visit for art lovers…
Museo de Arte de Ponce is the most prestigious art museum in Puerto Rico, one of the most well known across the Caribbean.
“The Ponce Museum of Art is recognized worldwide as an important center of European art in America, and continues to offer its visitors a rich panorama of Western art, from the Renaissance to the nineteenth century. Two strong points within the European collection are Baroque art and Victorian painting.”
Permanent Collection
“The permanent collection consists of 4,500 paintings, sculptures, decorative arts, ceramics, three-dimensional objects, photographs, engravings, drawings, videos and installations of sound art. The works of art span 30 centuries (from 900 BC to the present) and come from Europe, America, and Africa. In 1956 Luis A. Ferré established a foundation that bears his name and acquired his first group of European paintings for the future museum in Ponce that opened in 1959.”

Hang out at a Plaza
To observe the best architecture and European charm of Puerto Rico, visitors ought to visit a plaza (square), considered the center of each municipality. At the plazas, you’ll find a Catholic church, the Alcaldia (Mayor’s Government Office), local shops, cafes, and small restaurants typically serving traditional Puerto Rican food. The best part of visiting a plaza is seeing locals just sitting down speaking to friends over a cup of coffee. Be sure to stop by the table of dominos where abuelitos (grandpas) enjoy the most beloved game, dominos, they’re happy to chat and show off their game.
Our favorite plazas are Plaza de Armas, in Old San Juan, Plaza Colon in Mayaguez (west region), the plaza in San German (the only town with two squares), and the plaza in the town of Dorado, one of the few remaining traditional plazas left on the island.

drink. Also on board you can buy any other drinks for an additional fee.
In addition, you can spend a day on the boat as a guest to enjoy the sun for a few hours on specially equipped sunbathing areas.
Spanish law prohibits the sale of fish caught by anglers. Immediately after the catch, the boats release all blue and white marlin, underwater fish, sharks and rays. The rest of the fish caught is for personal use.
Your fishing trip will end around 15:00 in the afternoon. Not far from the pier, a bus will be waiting for you, which will comfortably take you back to the hotel.
Family fishing
You can also go on so-called family fishing. Since 5 or 6 hours on the boat for the youngest guests is quite a long journey, you can book a short family sea fishing trip.
In winter, on this 3- or 4-hour sea adventure, you can catch fish on the bottom: sea bream, Atlantic bonito, sea bass, garfish and rays.
During the summer months trolling is common. This method consists in the fact that several spinning rods are installed on the boat, to which baits and tackle are attached. In this way you can catch wahoo tuna, skipjack and dorado.
During family fishing trips you can see dolphins, turtles, flying fish and maybe even a whale.
Family boat trips are held every day, starting at 15:00 and lasting until 18:00 or 19:00.
Puerto Rico
Your sea fishing will take place in the area of Playa de Puerto Rico, which is located in the municipality of Mogán, in the southern part of the island of Gran Canaria. It is well connected to the rest of the island as the GC-1 runs right next to it. While there are many beaches on the island that are naturally formed, there are three that are man-made. The most popular and famous is the beach of Puerto Rico.
This is the first artificial beach in Gran Canaria. All such tourist projects are turning to this beach, trying to copy it. Puerto Rico Beach is two hundred and fifty meters long and ninety meters wide and offers a wide range of tourist and recreational activities worthy of the best places in the Canary Islands. Most hotels and apartments are built on hillsides facing the sea.
One of the features that gives prestige to this beach is the opportunity to go sailing.

In theory at least these taxis should all operate on a fixed price basis, charging around 30 for the journey south to Playa
Blanca, however experience has shown that this “fixed price” may vary slightly depending upon the number of suitcases,
the time of day or night of the journey, and of course the number of passengers carried. Also an important consideration for families with small children, is that these taxis do not as a rule carry child
seats, therefore children may have to sit on their parent’s knee for the journey. If this is a cause for concern,
we strongly recommend that you make arrangements for a pre-booked taxi to be waiting for you, and clearly
specify at the time of booking that a child seat is needed for the journey. Pre-booked taxis are often a little more
expensive, although as with all things in life, you only get what you pay for.For those visitors who have pre-arranged for the collection of a hire car from one of the numerous agencies
based at the airport, driving down to the resort is also very straightforward. As you leave the airport
facility join the main LZ2 heading south, and this road will then take you all the way to Playa Blanca passing
the towns of Tias and Yaiza en-route. If needed, a more detailed version of this route, complete with links to maps where appropriate, is also available from the
Route Map
link on the left hand frame of this page.As we said earlier Playa Blanca, whose name literally translates in English as “white beach”, was originally
a small fishing village, however, over the past few years it has grown into one of Lanzarote’s newest and most
modern tourist resorts.Building work is still going in some areas on the outskirts of the town, and undoubtedly
at some time during their stay, visitors will certainly witness some degree of construction works going on, although
in all fairness much of this is now low key and should not spoil a holiday.Playa Blanca is very popular with British visitors, and in recognition of the high number of private holiday villas’
and self catering apartments in the town, the resort has a good selection of shops and SPAR type supermarkets
that should cater for the everyday holiday essentials, with most also stocking a wide selection of UK recognised
branded goods, albeit at slightly higher prices than you would normally expect to pay back home in the UK.However, for shopping opportunities beyond the everyday holiday essentials, visitors should
head towards the commercial centre that has grown up around the Marina Rubicon. The impressive
Marina Rubicon
at the heart of Playa Blanca provides moorings for almost 400 vessels up to a maximum length of 22 metres, and
has on more that one occasion been described as being “the best in the Canary Islands”, and although clearly an
exaggeration of the truth, it certainly helps to raise the profile of the resort to have a number of expensive yachts
moored here. The obvious success of the Rubicon development has lead the Yaiza municipal council
to further propose the creation of a golf course along the northern outskirts of the resort,
although we recognise that the bureaucratic processes necessary to approve this type of project are
notoriously slow throughout all of Spain, and it may be many years before visitors to this area of Lanzarote
actually get to play the greens on this course. If you have access to a car, and wish to escape Playa Blanca for the day, the old town of Yaiza, some
8 miles north of the resort, is certainly well worth a visit. The brilliantly white washed houses in the town
have ensured the inclusion of Yaiza into the list of the most beautiful villages in the whole of Spain.Overall the municipal district of Yaiza is home to some of the most widely visited natural attractions on the
island, including the cliffs of Los Hervideros, and the green lagoon at El Golfo, both of which we will
cover in greater detail as part of our Attractions and Amenities pages. As with so many other resorts on the island, Playa Blanca could never really be described as being
rowdy, although few would ever dispute that due to its popularity with families with young children it
is at times quite a lively resort.Playa Blanca | Lanzarote
In the south of Lanzarote is one of the unique and beautiful areas of the island, where they focus most of the tourist attractions, places of interest and must-see of your visit to Lanzarote with a wide and varied range of hotels: the town of Playa Blanca in the municipality of Yaiza: Its unique landscape with all these factors make it one of the areas with greater appeal to visitors to Lanzarote. Furthermore, it is the starting point for trips to the neighbouring island, Corralejo in the north of Fuerteventura, which takes only 25 minutes by ferry.
The growth of Playa Blanca as a tourist destination in Lanzarote has been increasing in recent years, and many experts predict that it will be the reference tourist area in Lanzarote in the medium to long term. One of the factors is that the highest temperatures on the island are registered in Playa Blanca, the care of its heritage is latent, and also the proximity to such outstanding points of interest on Lanzarote as Timanfaya National Park, El Golfo or Papagayo Beach among some others.

Tourism: Yaisa.
What to watch. Tourist information
On the mountainous spurs of the Timanfaya National Park is Yaisa, the southernmost settlement of Lanzarote. In its surroundings, with amazing landscapes with craters and dark volcanic soil, you can see such stunningly beautiful places as La Geria, the El Golfo hydrovolcano and the Los Hervideros zone.
On the south coast, you will find some of the island’s most beautiful scenery, including Playa Quemada and Papagayo bays. A beach holiday is complemented by the many leisure and entertainment options that await you in the tourist centers of Playa Blanca and Puerto Calero. And away from the coast are historical villages with important historical heritage, such as Femes and Yaisa.
Yaiza , located on the southern tip of Lanzarote, is a historical site where you can see traces of the first settlements on the island. This municipality is distinguished by the unusual beauty of its landscapes, reminiscent of the moon, as well as well-preserved nature. The most striking example of this ecosystem is Timanfaya National Park . It covers a huge sea of hardened lava, which arose after intense volcanic activity in the 18th and 19th centuries. Here you can see curious geological formations, such as caves, cones, small ornito vents and 25 craters. A bus departs from here and follows the Volcano Route , a stunning landscape created by lava and ash covered in a thin layer of lichen. Timanfaya National Park is surrounded by Los Volcanes Natural Park , with fields of volcanic material that reach the very coast. On the coast, the volcanic relief takes on interesting forms, exemplified by Los Hervideros , imposing basalt cliffs against which waves break. Nearby rises El Golfo , a stunning coastal crater, inside which is the Verde Lagoon, a small lake declared a natural reserve. Be sure to visit other places of interest such as Charco de los Clicos and Salinas de Janubio. Volcanic activity has resulted in inventive farming methods, examples of which can be seen in the main wine region of the island, called La Geria . Grapes are grown here in holes dug in the soil, and small semi-circular stone walls protect them from the wind. Leisure and beaches Yaiza has some of the most beautiful beaches in Lanzarote. These are deserted sandbanks with crystal clear water, such as Playa Quemada , and secluded coves with white sand, such as Papagayo . Playa Blanca and Puerto Calero have everything you need for a great vacation. There are numerous opportunities for leisure and entertainment. On busy streets Playa Blanca , built around a small fishing village, offers various shops, restaurants and terraces of night bars. From here you can also take boat trips to the Lobos Islands or Fuerteventura. At Puerto Calero you will find excellent watersports centers offering sailing courses and boat or submarine excursions. Away from the coast, some of the historical monuments of architecture in Yaiza. AT Themes is located the Church of San Martial , dedicated to the patron saint of the island, where the first diocese of the Canary Islands was founded (XV century). The Remedios Chapel dates back to the end of the 17th century and is famous throughout the region. Other highlights include the defensive tower Agila and the house of Benito Pérez Armas, an important cultural center. Surroundings and gastronomy In addition to Yaisa, you can visit other nearby towns such as Tinajo , where in the Sanctuary of Mancha Blanca the Virgin of the Virgen de los Dolores, the patroness of the island, is venerated, and San Bartolome , with interesting architecture, in which the house of Major Guerra and the house of Achaia stand out. Nearby is also the capital of the island, Arrecife .

This section of the boardwalk now connects to Golf de Sur and Los Abrigos, and I am told is part of an ambitious plan to build a boardwalk right around the island.
This is a great walk along the coastline and something to do after a hard day out in the sun!
Good luck to those who try to walk the entire island. nine0003Posted by Graeme B

We walked right the way to the end from Golf down to los where the walk way ended. Amazing view of the sea all the way, I can only imagine the cost of this new walk way that’s been installed but it’s 100% worth it. It joins the locations up and makes it easy for tourists to get to the different areas on foot. nine0223 Only took about 45 mins to walk one way and with them views it felt like less.
Will be doing another stroll down there regularly on my hols.Published December 19, 2020

Quiet beach, though probably going to be busy in the future. nine0003
Aug. 2019
At the time I was there, they were building a wooden promenade so that people could get across from Abrigos to Golf del Sur easier. It was very much the construction site. Now that was about 8 months ago, so I am sure they have finished it now for the summer season. by walking the promenade, you don’t have to walk along a big hill and a rather dry loose sandy area. Can be a little tasking for some, so it was a welcome sight.
Otherwise the beach is lovely, there were a few kids building sandcastles there, a few bathers. Sits literally on the bottom of a hill next to downtown Los Abrigos. well worth a visit. nine0003Published June 1, 2020

Good Investment
Jan. 2020 • For two
Local government spending some money on joining Golf del Sur & Los Abrigos with a timber walkway
Passing through Playa San Blas, past Punta del Jarado & through Playa Grande. nine0003Golf del Sur end has still got alot of work to go (31/01/20), with the path around Hotel Vincci still being constructed.
Also the Golf end has some areas still to be finished, but the Los Abrigos end is all finished.
When finished it will be a lovely walk along a lovely coast.
The whole path will be wheelchair friendly, & has many seating areas.
Well done to the local government, money well spent & we highly recommend a visit & a stroll. nine0003

Very good
The territory of the hotel is very good – every centimeter of the land is occupied by plants, flowers, ponds with fish. The kitchen is not bad – visited all the restaurants. Breakfast is good sparkling wine)) Breakfast menu is varied. All areas of the hotel are very well thought out and comfortable. You can find activities for every taste – animation throughout the day. Free bus to Costa Adeje. Drive only 15 min. Free underground parking. The Russian-speaking representative at the reception is a girl with the original name Petya)) In general, the impression of the hotel is 5 stars-economy))
1. For some reason the mini-bar is locked. 2. The main disappointment – there is no beach near the hotel … without a car for a maximum of 3 days you can lock yourself up in this well-groomed area with beautiful pools))

Nudist beach los cristianos: shortlists, articles & insider tips
Tenerife Gay & Nude Beaches, Cruising and Saunas
An added bonus. Nude sunbathing is allowed on some of the more secluded beaches around the island if you feel inclined expose your bits to passers by. Here is a list of some of the acknowledged cruising areas/beaches.
Gay and Lesbian sex is legal in Spain, the age of consent is 16 and over. As the same laws in Mainland Spain apply in the Canary Islands it is the same in Tenerife.
Playa de los Rusos / Darsena Pescadora
Puerto de la Cruz
Leave La Cruz and head north towards San Andres and follow the signs toward Darsena Pescadora. Park by the jetty. Reach by car, bike or bus number 914.At the top of your list for daytime fun, write Lago Martinez in capital letters. Drench yourself in sunshine here while taking a dip in the natural salt water pools before lying back and enjoying the view at this somewhat cruisey landscaped lido (the gays are on the left hand side).
Playa de la Teresitas and Playa de la Gaviotas
An artificial beach, head north form La Cruz toward St Andres and follow the signs. Cruising takes place near the cliffs at the left. Also, when you reach La Teresitas , continue up the hill towards Playa de la Gaviotas where nude sunbathing is acceptable. Bus 914 also takes you here.Punta Roja at Playa de la Tejifa
Playa De Las Americas
Located close to Reina Sofia (southern airport), on the road between El Abrigos and El Medano, Punta Roja is a nudist beach at the headland between these two points. Bus 111 form Las Americas takes you to this beach.Los Cristianos
As well as the nude beaches there is a busy cruising area of the east side of Los Cristianos. Walk or get a taxi down to the Costa Mar hotel (15 floor towerblock) What past the hotel and down towards the beach. you should see a steady stream of cars and individuals arriving early evening. Watch out for the rocks though.La Caleta
Take a bus or taxi to La Caleta. Follow the coast (starting at a path next to the gravel football pitch) away from Las Americas, on a steep path up, over and down the headland and then, at sea level, around the next headland to two sandy bays – total distance about a mile but worth the effort aparently.Bora Bora in Las Americas
The beach in front of Bora Bora in Las Americas is popular for cruising in the evening.

If you walk along the coast, you can come to Los Cristianos.
On that day, the neighboring island of Gomera was best seen. Heads in the waves – surfers.
Rusty item. Here, running twice in the morning, I met Pierluigi Collin, who was also running. Don’t know who it is? Then google and understand what you knew before!

From Los Cristianos there is a ferry to the neighboring islands

The yacht cart for the beach
ends like this.
This last beach is actually a nudist one. But all nudists build small enclosures out of boulders, in which they lie. Therefore, it seems that the beach is empty. But in fact, there are a lot of nudists among the boulders.
The ferry departed, but for some reason forgot to close the bow
Pieces of brick walls covered in boulders on the shore
Fireworks prepared for the New Year
Turtle dove eating a crushed tomato
And this is pensioners playing Petanque. A game like curling – you just have to throw steel balls. Neighboring sites are close, and they throw balls at head level. How have they not killed each other yet?
An example of tasteless resort architecture
But nothing like this
Someone got sick on the beach – a helicopter flew in and all the local police, rescuers and an ambulance gathered. 914
They play paintball in the drained pools
And finally – a failure 🙂 Those who studied English took the geography of London. Know about…
Waxwings
Fieldfare thrushes sat on the mountain ash and slowly ate berries Then they appeared in the distance … flew closer with a characteristic squeak and sat on … blue tit. I bought the simplest webcam, installed the free iSpy program for video surveillance. Every time…

Excursions in Greece
Greece enjoys a reputation as a tourist mecca for a variety of reasons.
Algar falls spain: The Algar Waterfalls | What to see
The Algar Waterfalls | What to see
The Fuentes del Algar is a beautiful natural site composed of waterfalls that are connected by small water channels forming small rivers and pools, where visitors can bathe. This composition of the waterfalls, springs, tolls and crystalline waters, along with other services for tourists makes the Fuentes del Algar an excursion that can’t be missed.
Declared in 2002 a Wetland protected area by the Valencian Government, the Fuentes del Algar also well known as “Les fonts de l’Algar” its name in Valencian. There are several parking areas, toilets, first aid, a picnic area and information panels that promote environmental education and information.
Without a doubt, it is a place that you should not be missed, and that confirms that the province of Alicante not only offers you sun and beach holidays.Where are “Las Fuentes del Algar”?
“The Fuentes del Algar” They belong to the town of Callosa d’en Sarrià, in the province of Alicante, the fountains are located 3 kilometers from Callosa’s town center.
The head water of the river Algar is in this wonderful environment of Callosa, the river flows into Altea, with a 12-kilometer route meeting with the rivers Bolulla and Guadalest which come from the villages situated higher in the mountains just above Callosa.
This natural paradise is located just 15 kilometers from Benidorm and 28 kilometers from Villajoyosa. If you decide to stay in one of our hotels in Benidorm or in the Montiboli Hotel this is a place that cannot be missed.
A fantastic way to spend a different day out in the heart of the countryside, an alternative to a day at the beach or by the pool.
How to get to the “Les fonts de l’Algar” from Benidorm
From Benidorm it is very easy to reach the Fuentes del Algar, if you are going by car there are many parking areas. Below, we will give you the appropriate directions indicating the route, so that your journey is simple and straightforward, as well as pleasant taking in the picturesque towns and countryside. The journey takes approximately 25 to 30 minutes depending on the traffic.
Leaving Benidorm, you take the CV-70 road and heading towards the town of La Nucia. There are several roundabouts along the way, you have to continue straight towards the town of La Nucía.As you are leaving La Nucia, you will see a beautiful view of Polop on the righthand side, which is one of the most beautiful villages in Alicante, it has a beautiful plaza with 200 chorros de agua, water jets or taps with fresh water from the mountains. Once you have passed through Polop, at the roundabout take the exit in direction of Callosa d’en Sarrià CV-715. This is the town where the Fuentes del Algar is located. Callosa is also better known as the land of the loquat fruit, you will see a completely different landscape with Medlars trees all over the sounding countryside and on either side of the road.
Once in Callosa, in the center of the town you will find a roundabout you have to take the exit in the direction of Bolulla and Tárbena by the C-3318, you will see this signposted at the roundabout there are signs indicating “Las Fuentes del Algar”. As Callosa is a Valencian town, you will also see that the signposts are in Valencian “Les Fonts de l’Algar”.
You have to follow the road for approximately 2 kilometers, until you see another sign indicating Las Fuentes del Algar on the right-hand side. Approximately 1 kilometer further down this road you will be able to observe the vegetation and countryside of the area, finally you have arrived at your destination to enjoy a spectacular day, at the Fuentes del Algar.
There are several free parking areas along the way, so you should not have trouble parking. In addition, the restaurants also have parking that you pay for in their complex. But we recommend, especially if you go with children to park in the first parking area which is just after the main entrance to the Fountains, as it is free to park, and the access to the entrance of the Fuentes del Algar is a short walk downhill.
Entrance Tickets for the “Las fuentes del Algar”
The prices of the entrance tickets to the Fuentes del Algar, vary depending on the season. During the summer months it is slightly more expensive, but still very reasonably priced, and especially in the hotter months you will certainly enjoy using the pools to take a refreshing dip in fountain and spring pools to cool you down.
The prices are for adults, children and for the over 65’s, students and groups of 20 people or more.
The ticket price, ranges between 2 Euros and 5 Euros, a very affordable price to enjoy this natural park, and in summer transforms a hot day, into a fun educational and refreshing excursion.
Restaurants near to “Les Fonts de l’Algar”
In the vicinity of the Fuentes del Algar, there are of 5 restaurants, where you can eat if you are going to spend the day, or perhaps just stopping for lunch without having to drive back to the village.
They are family owned restaurants serving Mediterranean cuisine, where you can enjoy several typical dishes of this area. The specialties are Mediterranean salads and rice dishes very typical and traditional in the province of Alicante. In addition to these delicacies, we also want to highlight the more traditional dishes of Callosa such as the “La Olleta Callosina” not forgetting the different dishes prepared with loquat fruit, which is grown in this area, and has a great presence as you can see the fruit trees all around the countryside, the town is well known throughout the region and the rest of the country for this delicious fruit.
Or if you prefer a more causal picnic lunch, you will find various areas around the fuentes of the Algar there are picnic areas with tables and some shaded areas too, for all those who prefer to bring their own food. In this area you will find toilet facilities, vending machines with cold drinks and snacks.
The route of “Les Fonts de l’Algar”
You could define this wonderful excursion as a small route through the sources of the Algar, a route that will surprise you with its magnificent views, for its careful state of conservation and for its extensive ecological wealth. The only reason we would call it a ‘route’, so to organize your visit and not miss out on any of its wonderful scenery, the main attraction is to take your time and not to rush, enjoying the surroundings, stopping in the different tolls or swimming pools, take a swim or a refreshing dip, to cool off, and relax in the shade with the sound of waterfalls in the back ground.
Upon entering, once you pass the ticket office, you will be at the Font del Moro, from where you will directly access the Toll de la Caldera, and there you will find the main waterfall.
Once you leave the Toll de la Caldera behind you, making your way up the stairs, you will pass the Toll Blau and the Toll del Baladre. There you will see a surface which you can use to jump towards one of the pools of water. Where especially younger people have a lot of fun jumping into the pools of water. It is not very high or that deep, so you will see many people going into to take a dip, and perhaps that will encourage you to take one too!
Between the Toll del Baladre and the Playa de la Tribu you will find some more simple ones, which are the Toll de la Presa and the Toll de la Figuera. This is probably the most recommended area to stop and take a rest with family and friends, as it is a slightly bigger zone, there are several shaded areas. An ideal place for children to enjoy the water and their games while you relax in the shade watching them enjoy themselves.
After passing the popular Playa de la Tribu, the path will culminate with the Toll de la Parra. Along the way you will find different picnic areas where you can stop to eat, the Fuentes del Algar also has a barbecue and camping area.
On the other hand, you will also find that there is a children’s play area, that will keep the younger members entertained, after lunch.
An unforgettable a swim in the Tolls of the Fuentes del Algar, especially on the hottest days, can become an experience worth recommending, enjoying the excellent temperature of its crystalline waters.
For this excursion we recommend wearing comfortable sports shoes and or good quality water shoes, so as not to hurt yourself with the stones, and in the water and to avoid slipping. It is also important that you do not forget to take your sunscreen, a cap or hat to protect you from the sun, especially on the hotter days. Finally, don’t forget to take your camera or video camera to immortalize these special moments that you will encounter in this wonderful environment surrounded by nature.
What to see near “the Fuentes del Algar”?
Dino Park Algar
If you are going with children, and they like dinosaurs, the park is just a few meters from the Fuentes del Rio Algar. Dino Park Algar, is very popular. We are sure that you will also enjoy it, bringing back memories of your childhood.
This magnificent park is well worth seeing. It is located near the Botanical Cactus Garden d ‘Algar. It consists of six hectares, that house an exceptional exhibition of robotic and static models of the most characteristic dinosaur species.

Guadalest
Another very interesting option is to visit Guadalest. For that reason alone, we recommend that you go with plenty of time to enjoy a day in this small village, its beautiful and striking streets, fantastic views, its museums that will impress you with the interesting history they host. And of course, cafes and restaurants for you to enjoy, and not forgetting lots of lovely shops to wander round.
Spend a day out in one of Alicante‘s paradises.

Algar Waterfalls
Series of waterfalls and stunning crystalline swimming holes in an area with lush vegetation. Located in the mountains, 19 km inland from Benidorm (Spain).
Algar Waterfalls (‘Fonts de l’Algar’ in Valencian Language) are located 3 km from the village Callosa d’en Sarrià. This ‘Protected Humid Zone‘ running along the Algar river has a high ecological value. It’s also a theme park.
The visit consists of a 1.5 km circuit along the Algar (‘cave’ in Arabic) river bed. It consists of a landscape resulting from the karst modelling of limestone rock. You will see waterfalls, springs flowing from rock and swimming holes where you can take a dip. These natural pools were considered a source of health. You will also see the old dam, canal and old ditches that are still in use today.
Algar Waterfalls are very popular. They charge a small fee (between €2 and €5). It has several free and also paid car parks, restaurants and 2 free toilets once you enter.
During summer you will enjoy a refreshing swim in the waterfalls and most of the swimming holes. The water is so transparent you can see the riverbed. The bottom of the pools is rocky. Wear comfortable shoes and watch out for slippery areas and stones. Some people like to wear booties. These are available in stores here, but you will find them at half price in Benidorm. There is a lifeguard service at Easter and during the summer season.
The wooden building on the left is the entrance to these spectacular waterfalls in Alicante.
Straight after, you’ll cross a cute narrow bridge. From it, you’ll see the largest waterfall.
It’s very popular, so in high season there are many people.
The swimming holes have breathtaking crystalline water. Most of them are shallow.
This is one of the few deep natural pools.
The 1.5 km route along the course of the Algar river is beautiful and well signposted.
The colour of the water, its transparency and the vegetation around make this place so unique.
You can take an unforgettable dip anywhere along the route in the Algar river!
The water is chilly and reinvigorating.
This area of Alicante is quite dry. In contrast, the area around Algar Waterfalls is very humid.

Algar Waterfalls are the scents of flowers and the music of falling jets. A unique nature reserve with cascades of azure water from the heart of the mountains.
If you want to take a break from the scorching sun while relaxing on the sunny Spanish coast of Costa Blanca, then you should go to the waterfalls.

Park and springs
A small but very beautiful park located in the valley of the river Algar. nine0003
The mountain river so bizarrely made its way through the rocks that a whole complex of waterfalls, lakes and springs formed on its way.
Tourists in this place have the most comfortable conditions for recreation:
- A hiking trail with wooden platforms has been laid. On its convenient steps, you can climb to the very top and admire the panorama of the park and its surroundings from there.
- There is a specially equipped swimming area.
- There is a unique opportunity to stand under a real mountain waterfall. nine0022
Algar waterfalls are cold, the water temperature never rises above 17 degrees, but there are always those who want to swim.
Is it possible to imagine something more pleasant in the sultry Spanish summer?
More than 50 thousand different plants adorn the park. Blooming oleanders, figs, pines create a beautiful green frame for the azure water.
In the park you can additionally find:
- fast food cafes and restaurants overlooking the waterfalls; nine0022
- charcoal and barbecue for self-barbecuing;
- booklet with a detailed plan of the park;
- first aid, if needed;
- souvenirs.
Hiking trail.
Where are the Algar waterfalls
They are located very close to the coast, in the mountains.
The closest they are located from Altea (a little over 10 kilometers), it will take a little longer to get from Benidorm (15 kilometers), from Alicante – 57 kilometers. nine0003
Landmark – the village of Cayosa d’En Sarria (Callosa D’En Sarria), from its center the park is located 2.5 kilometers.
Cozy cafe.
Getting there
From Benidorm, a tourist bus leaves every half an hour to the Algar Falls stop (Fonts de l’Algar).
From the Alicante bus station you can get to the village of Callosa d’En Sarriá and then travel about 3 kilometers to the park by taxi or on foot.
When traveling by car, you need to follow the A7 highway to the CV-70 or CV-755 exit and continue to the sign for Callosa d’En Sarria. nine0003
If desired, a trip to the waterfalls can be combined with a visit to the city-museum of Guadalest.
Opening hours and entrance fee
In summer, the Algar Park and waterfalls are open from 10 am to 7.30 pm.
At times less popular with tourists, the schedule changes slightly, closing occurs earlier.

Waterfalls. Bathing in a mountain river.
Beautiful place. The air is purest.
Among the shortcomings: there are no locker rooms, who can change clothes as they can. For Europeans, this may be normal, but our upbringing requires convenience.Review of: Day Trip to Algar Waterfalls and Guadalest from Benidorm

Fabulous day trip
Two great places to visit. Beautiful historic village with great views from the castle to the reservoir and the hills. Large selection of coffees etc. And two hours is enough to explore. The falls were beautiful and on a sunny, warm December day it was a pleasure to visit. Very quiet but imagine it would be different in high season. Travel time from Benidorm is about 45 minutes to each location. nine0110 The only downside was that the 6 pickup points meant that around 40 minutes at the end of the day was a little tiring.
Angela, our guide, and Juan, our driver, excellent

Fantastic Day
Dec. 2022 • Traveling alone
Highly recommended excursion. Enjoyed the tours a lot. Angela definitely knew what she was talking about and obviously has a lot of experience. Absolutely adored the Algar Falls and surroundings. Despite the bad weather, the day didn’t spoil thanks to the kind thoughts of Angela and the driver. If a visitor to Benidorm is looking for a day off, I would definitely recommend this tour. Two museums in Guadalest are must-sees. Thank you Angela for the very important information about the tour and a big thank you to the driver whose name unfortunately eludes me. nine0003

Great service
A day trip we both will never forget. We have returned home and hope that our next holiday will be in Valencia. We were delighted. Katy was excellent. Very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. They picked us up at Gran Bali and drove us to the center of the old town of Valencia at the Sorrono towers. The journey from Gran Bali to Valencia took about 1 hour and 30 minutes. We bought bus tickets to see the Mestalla Stadium (Valencia Football Stadium). I think they were about 12 euros each. It’s worth it as you get a backstage tour of the stadium. The staff really took care of us. We were dropped off at 11am and picked up back at 3:30pm to be taken to the stadium. They offered walking tours and oceanographic tours, but we chose Mestalla. They will also take you to your destination. Honestly great service. Thanks to Katy and the team. nine0003

Two great trips
We did two trips with Round Town Travel. Guadalest and Algar Falls trip to Valencia.
What we liked:
Guadalest is a beautiful city. We paid 4 euros to enter the castle which had a breathtaking view. Two hours was enough to give us a great taste. The trip to Valencia was great. Travel time flew by quickly as Angela, our host, shared many local details along the way. We did a walking tour which was slightly informative and gave us a landmark. We paid 8 euros for entrance to the cathedral which came with an audio tour. It was worth it to see including Holly Bowl. We went to the arts and sciences park along the old river to take home (optional pick up here). We had about 5.5 hours in Valencia which was the perfect taster. We will definitely return. nine0003
Angela, our tour for both trips was great. He spoke excellent Spanish and English. A caring and attentive owner makes sure that everyone has the necessary information. Special thanks for the excellent experienced bus driver.
Thank you Round Town Travel.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I’m not really sure what a vacjbdor is, but can only think you are talking about the bus journey. Whether you go on the Alsa bus from the bus station or go on an organized excursion, the distance and journey time are the same. I presume your reference to “doing nothing” was when the timings were given to meet those those who have opted to do the walking tour, bus tour, Mestall tour or oceanografic visit or indeed those who were not doing any of those. I’m sorry you took offence to the wording used buy our representative. nine0003

Two beautiful locations that would fit in well with the Lord of the Rings movie set.
Oct. 2022
We heard that Guadalest was the crown jewel of the area and were looking for a trip that would cover it and maybe something else as well. The pickup point was very close to our apartment and the bus was very comfortable… a slight problem with the guide’s hearing as the public address system didn’t work properly, but once international visitors realized they needed to keep quiet when Lee spoke, it was like would work! nine0003
The road to and from Guadalest is quite winding and if you are prone to motion sickness it would be best to take something in advance but the driver was excellent and the pace was right for the trip. The scenery is stunning and the village of Guadalest (only 200 permanent residents) is stunning. It’s a bit of a walk to get to the old Moorish fortress at the top, with lots of wide steps, but the views are worth it. Take time to visit the castle and its well-preserved halls, as well as two museums, one of which is listed in the Guinness Book of Records. The Doll House Museum is an incredible experience, the miniature work created by one person at the age of 6 is amazing… and it’s not just about doll houses. Another museum owned by GBoR features miniature work on the end of a match, needle, seed pod, rice grain, etc. in incredible detail. We had two hours to explore it all and unfortunately didn’t have time to visit the local shops or have a coffee in one of the cute cafes… as a feedback we would recommend an extra hour in Guadalest for tours though for “half day tour with travel between two attractions in just 45 minutes as we have been away from Calpe since 09:15 to 17:15.
The second stop was at the Algar waterfalls. We were less interested in it, but as part of the tour, we thought that it might be worth it – and it was. The natural environment created as the Algar River empties into this small valley is beautiful, and although there wasn’t much rain off the coast, there was plenty of water to feed the waterfalls up the slopes.

Data source and citation
Raw data for the calculations made to find the sea surface temperature in Fuerteventura comes from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and their 1/4° daily Optimum Interpolation Sea Surface Temperature.
The water temperature data is constructed by combining observations from different platforms (satellites, ships, buoys, and Argo floats) on a regular global grid. A spatially complete sea surface temperature map is then built by interpolating to fill in gaps in the data.
