Costa Adeje is a popular holiday resort in the south of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, Spain. Since it’s a purpose-built resort, the majority of Costa Adeje is made up of bustling streets full of bars and restaurants, hotels and apartment complexes, shopping complexes and tourist attractions. There are a few manmade parks and green spaces in the resort, built to contrast against the concrete structures, in addition to plenty of sandy beaches which vary from naturally dark volcanic sand and coves of smooth pebbles to bays with golden sand imported from the Sahara Desert.
Unlike most European resorts which see distinctive spring, summer, autumn and winter seasons and the defined weather differences which accompany them, the Canary Islands only see two main seasons summer and winter. The temperatures and weather are very mild and pleasant throughout the year, which is why these islands are fondly known as ‘The Islands of Eternal Spring’. The reason behind the two seasons and year-round mild weather is the southern location of the Canary Islands. Even though the Canaries are technically classed as being in Europe, they’re actually closer to Africa than they are to Spain, being located just 100km off the North African coast.
Spring Weather in Costa Adeje
May and June are great times to visit Costa Adeje, when the average temperature is 20°C-21°C and the resorts are fairly quiet, so you’re almost guaranteed to a chance to grab a bargain on both flights and accommodation if you visit at this time of year.
There is only 1 to 5mm of rain during these months, such a small amount that it won’t affect your holiday at all. If you visit for a week or a fortnight, the worst thing that might happen is that you get a brief spell with a tiny amount of drizzle.
Both of these months see oodles of sunshine 11-12 hours each day apiece giving you plenty of chances to work on your tan, whilst a warm average sea temperature of 20°C-21°C allows you the opportunity of a dip before returning to the beach to enjoy the sun.
Summer Weather in Costa Adeje
July, August and September, being the height of summer, are the most popular months for travellers to visit Costa Adeje. This is primarily because of two reasons: the first is because it’s during these months that the resort enjoys some of its hottest weather and highest number of sunshine hours. The second is because Costa Adeje is largely a family resort and the school holidays fall in these months. The only downside about visiting Costa Adeje in the height of the summer season is that flights and accommodation are generally at their most expensive.
Across the summer season, the average temperatures steadily increase. August and September are the hottest months of the year for Costa Adeje, when the resort sees an average temperature of around 24°C. There is minimal difference between the high day and low night temperatures in summer, although the cooling sea breeze which blows in from the Atlantic makes the air seem cooler than it is especially after dark if the sky is clear. During summer, average high temperatures range from 28°C-29°C, whilst average low temperatures range between 21°C and 22°C.
The reason Costa Adeje is much cooler than the likes of southern Morocco, despite being on the same longitude, is due to the presence of trade winds. These winds blow across the resort (and the Canary Islands as a whole) in a north easterly direction, crossing over the Atlantic first. When the winds cross this cool sea, they decrease in temperature, so by the time they reach Costa Adeje they’re a few degrees cooler than the average temperature on land. These cooling winds can bring some much-needed respite from the heat during the height of summer.
During summer, Costa Adeje experiences almost no rainfall . July is the driest month, when there is an average of 2mm of precipitation, whilst September is the wettest month, when an average of 5mm of rainfall occurs showing just how little rainfall Costa Adeje sees in summer.
On the other hand, the resort sees a huge number of sunshine hours each day at this time of year. July and August receive the most sunshine, with 12 hours apiece. Although it might be tempting to lounge on a sunbed and soak in the rays all day, sunburn and heatstroke are real possibilities in Costa Adeje in the summer. The best way to avoid suffering from either one of these conditions is to wear plenty of sun cream, drink water as much as possible and avoid sunbathing between 11am and 3pm the hottest time of day when UV rays will be at their strongest.
With so many hours of sunshine each day, spending some time at the beach is a must during your summer stay at Costa Adeje. The average sea temperature for the water around the resort is 22°C-23°C during summer, which is certainly warm enough to go for a swim.
Autumn in Costa Adeje
For the perfect balance of weather and value-for-money, visit Costa Adeje in October, when the resorts are faily quiet and the temperature is 23°C.
Although Costa Adeje is subject to an average of 20mm of rain during this month, this is such a small amount that it probably won’t affect your holiday at all.
10 hours of beautiful sunshine means there’s plenty of time to enjoy the beach and water temperatures of 23°C mean you’ll be able to cool off in the sea if the Canarian sunshine gets too much for you.
Winter in Costa Adeje
Thanks to the resort’s southerly location, Costa Adeje is pleasantly mild in winter, making it a great place to go if you’re searching for some winter sun. The winter season is made up of November, December, January and February and is a much quieter time to visit, compared to summer. The only exception to this is the end of December and the beginning of January. Loads of travellers from all across Europe head to Costa Adeje to spend Christmas and New Year in the sunshine, so be prepared for high flight and accommodation prices if you choose to visit during this period.
The average winter temperature in Costa Adeje ranges between 18°C and 21°C. There is an even smaller difference between the high and low temperatures in Costa Adeje in winter than summer. During the day average highs range between 21°C and 24°C, whilst night time average lows are between 16°C and 19°C. The cooler sea breezes can feel more cold than mild during this month, so ensure you have a jacket for the evenings if you plan on visiting Costa Adeje in the winter.
Compared to summer, Costa Adeje receives significantly more rainfall in winter. December usually receives the most rain, when 43mm falls across 12 days, followed by November with 39mm of rainfall over an average of ten days. When rainfall occurs in winter, it’s normally short and heavy downpours which end as soon as they begin. A whole day of overcast skies and rain is extremely unlikely, even in winter. If it’s raining in the morning, the sun is almost guaranteed to be shining by the afternoon and vice versa.
Sunshine hours are at their lowest during the winter season. November, January and February see the most hours of sunshine with nine each, whilst December sees only seven. Despite the drop in figures, Costa Adeje still enjoys enough sunshine each day to make a day at the beach worth it. Although with a cold average sea temperature ranging between 19°C and 22°C, you might want to think twice about going in the water.
Although the Canary Islands enjoy higher temperatures than most other European holiday destinations, they generally have cooler sea temperatures. This is because whilst many popular resorts in Europe are lined by the warm Mediterranean Sea, the Canary Islands are amid the cool Atlantic Ocean.
Weather Hazards
Despite top average highs of 29°C, temperatures in summer can regularly soar upwards of 35°C in Costa Adeje, when the resort is affected by a calima. A calima is a weather phenomenon which occurs when winds from the east blow directly in from the hot Sahara Desert in North Africa. When the winds blow in this way, they bring high temperatures (up to 10°C higher than normal), low visibility (due to concentrated sand and dust particles) and a general discomfort (due to the heat and saturated air).
Although calimas can usually be foreseen a few days before they descend on the resort, it’s almost impossible to estimate how long they’ll last. Some calimas last 2-3 days, whereas others can last up to a fortnight. The perfect way to cool down and stay comfortable whilst a calima is occurring is to find shelter in a hotel or bar with air conditioning or try to catch a cooler sea breeze by heading to the coast. Since Costa Adeje is located on the southern coast of Tenerife, you should be ideally located if a calima strikes during your holiday.
Although calimas are at their most severe when they hit the resort during summer, they can occur during any time of year winter included. When calimas occur in winter, they bring with them the same increase in temperature and decrease in visibility as they do in summer, but conditions are a lot more comfortable and sometimes even welcome if temperatures are particularly cool.
Despite experiencing 2-3 heavy rainstorms each winter, Costa Adeje is very unprepared for such weather occurrences. Draining is a big issue in the resort and without fail, as soon as a heavy storm begins, the drains get blocked up and flash flooding occurs which results in closed off roads, flooded tunnels, beaches half washed away and uprooted palm trees in severe cases.
In December 2013, Costa Adeje saw one of the worst storms to date which was caused by a clash of cold winds descending from Europe and warm winds blowing over from Morocco. After La Palma and La Gomera, the south of Tenerife Costa Adeje included was one of the worst affected areas in the Canary Islands. Thunder and lightning storms and intense rainfall caused mudslides spreading onto the motorway, huge traffic jams and leaking roofs in thousands of homes island-wide. When storms like this occur, there really is nothing you can do except wait it out in your hotel or apartment complex.

Fuerteventura weather September
What’s the weather like in Fuerteventura in September?
Just over 100km off the coast of Morocco, Fuerteventura’s the closest of Spain’s Canary Islands to Africa. This means it has a warm year-round climate, and you’ll still feel the long hot summer if you’re going in September, with which has lots of sunny weather and hardly any rain.
Climatic influences
The nearby Sahara Desert’s a driving force behind Fuerteventura’s heat, although you’ll usually be kept comfortable by north easterly winds and the Canary Current in September. It can feel really desert-like though when the island gets hot winds, which can push temperatures up a lot, and bring the occasional dust storm. Lanzarote’s just to the north, which means the weather’s drier and more consistent in Fuerteventura.
Averages
The average high in September reaches 28ºC, which is also the annual high. Things stay nice and warm in the evenings, which only cool to 20ºC. The sea’s also lovely and warm at 23ºC, while humidity’s low. At just 2mm average rainfall’s hardly worth mentioning, leaving you to concentrate on 12 hours of daylight with eight hours of sunshine each day. You should however take note of the very high UV levels and protect yourself in the sun with plenty of sun cream, which sets at around 8pm for most of the month.

We draw particular cautious attention to our reliance on the MERRA-2 model-based reconstructions for a number of important data series. While having the tremendous advantages of temporal and spatial completeness, these reconstructions: (1) are based on computer models that may have model-based errors, (2) are coarsely sampled on a 50 km grid and are therefore unable to reconstruct the local variations of many microclimates, and (3) have particular difficulty with the weather in some coastal areas, especially small islands.
We further caution that our travel scores are only as good as the data that underpin them, that weather conditions at any given location and time are unpredictable and variable, and that the definition of the scores reflects a particular set of preferences that may not agree with those of any particular reader.

Puerto de santiago, Canary Islands – November Weather
Weather Lowdown
As November arrives, the weather is certainly starting to get chillier in Puerto de Santiago. Though it is not quite fully winter yet, the average daily temperature drops to 21°C. Of course, it is worth noting that this is still a reasonably warm climate, which is fine for sunbathing or for exploring the resort, compared to places in northern Europe.
The highs and lows swing between 24°C and 19°C this month, allowing you to stay warm without having to worry as much about sun protection. If you are planning on staying out all day, however, it is still warm enough to justify wearing a hat and sunscreen. It’s warm enough to head down to the beach and jump in the sea, too, as the average sea temperature remains at 22°C.
It will get colder still when December comes, but this month is set to be the wettest one of the year. An average of 93mm of rain will fall across 7 days, so you will need to make sure that you look out for the weather forecast just in case. You could end up getting wet on an excursion or day trip, so being prepared is essential a light raincoat should do the trick. Remember that it is still absolutely possible to have a dry holiday here at this time of year, as there will be 23 days without rain at all. On the other hand, we are talking about averages, so you may find yourself visiting during a wetter or drier year than normal.
This is a great part of the Canary Islands to visit, as the whole island has a really great climate. If you compare it with the weather in Lanzarote, for example at the resort of El Golfo, you will see that there is a big difference in the temperature. For a warmer winter-time holiday, this resort is the much better choice.
Where to Stay
The Arena Suites are just a short distance to the beach, though you may not care about this in the November weather! Much more appealing is the heated pool which all suites have access to, and the luxury of being able to stay in a fully furnished suite for your holiday.
The Ocean View apartment is a privately owned apartment which is rented out to holidaymakers, so you will need to get in quick if you want to snap this one up. It has some great features such as a fully fitted kitchen, an outdoor seating area, and a very short walk to the beach.
Then there is the Jardin Marino. Here you can find rooms that each have their own balcony, as well as a central pool that you can swim in all day if you wish to. The whole complex opens right onto the beach for easy access to the sand.
Things to Do
November is starting to get a little colder, so if you need to cover up, make sure that you are still relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere. Sometimes there is nothing better than to relax with a book or an e-reader, whether by the pool or even just in your luxury room.
It is also a great time to head to Loro Parque, where you won’t be at as much risk of sunburn as in the summer months. This wildlife park is the key attraction in Tenerife besides Mount Teide, so you can be sure that all hotels will offer excursions there if you do not want to drive.
You can also spend some time shopping in nearby Costa Adeje. Taking an excursion here is well worth it, as there are plenty of great stores here including upmarket brands. There has been an influx of chic hotels here which is really powering the local shopping experience.
Restaurants and Nightlife
Those with a bigger budget will certainly enjoy Restaurante La Pergola Puerto Santiago, where sample dishes include kobe beef or snow crab. It is all lovingly arranged and served in a relaxed atmosphere with sea views.
Pizza, pasta, meat, and fish dishes can be found at El Caprichito, where a set menu for the day comes in at a set price allowing you to concentrate on relaxing rather than having to make too many decisions. All dishes are delicious and prepared fresh for you.
Make sure that you also take a look at the hotel you are staying at or the apartment complex. Many of them have their own restaurant on offer, which will give preferential rates to those staying in the area and may not be open to outsiders.

Where does this data come from
Weather data for Puerto de Santiago was collected from the MERRA-2 project from NASA, which used a climate model combined with historical data from weather stations around the world to estimate what the conditions were like for every point on the Earth.
For all data based on historical data, we’ve averaged the data from the past 11 years (2010-2020). For example, for the hourly temperature at 10am, we’ve looked at the temperature at 10am on every day in November (e.g., November 1, November 2, etc. in 2010, 2011, etc.) and took the arithmetic mean. We did not smooth the data, so for example, our daily temperature line will have some randomness due to the fact that weather is random in the first place.

When there’s non-stop sunshine and you’ve had enough of the beach, there’s no better place for whole family to relax and have fun than Aqualava Waterpark. It’s conveniently located in Playa Blanca at the southern end of Lanzarote, this huge waterpark is open every single day of the year.
Time to play in Playa Blanca
Lanzarote’s Aqualava Waterpark has a great range of slides and activities for every age group and it’s easy to spend a full day there. With pools, adrenaline slides and the lazy Magma River, you can lay out under a parasol or help the children explore. Corsair Bay is gives even the smallest kids a shallow pool to play in with fountains, a huge fun octopus and lots of gentle slides. Aqualava Beach has a wave machine which offers a safe environment for small children to have fun jumping over waves, and it even hosts water dance classes and tons of great activities.
Get that adrenaline going
Waterparks aren’t just a haven for the kids and we reckon you’ll have a lots of fun going down the twists and turns of the Timan Fire slides. Grab a rubber ring or share a double ring with your teenager and see how fast you can make it to the bottom. With four slides intertwining, the whole family can start at the same time and race each other to the splashpool. Those giant rubber rings are pretty comfortable right? Relax in one on the flowing Magma River which winds its way around the Aqualava Water Park. There’s no better way to enjoy Lanzarote’s sunshine than drifting around and mulling over what to have for lunch.
Refuel at Aqualava’s restaurant
All that swimming around is bound to get the stomachs rumbling so head on over to the on-site restaurant. With a big buffet on offer, everyone will find lots of delicious treats to enjoy from burgers and hot dogs to rice, pasta and salad. Why not get a bowl of paella for a traditional Spanish lunch? With cakes, puddings and refreshing juices, Aqualava’s buffet is the ideal way to refuel before relaxing on a sun lounger and preparing for your next water slide. If you need a quick ice cream, cold drink or snack later on in the day, just head over to Timi Shop where you can buy souvenirs and suncream too.
An easy day taken care of in Playa Blanca
Aqualava Waterpark is right in Playa Blanca and easy to get to with buses stopping off there from many resort towns including Puerto Del Carmen. It opens at 10am every day, even on Christmas Day, so you’ll have no trouble fitting it into your Lanzarote holiday. You can buy day tickets or week tickets making it easy to spend a few days there if the kids are real water park fans.
All the pools are heated so it’s easy to spend hours in the water and never get cold. There are lifeguards onsite and slides for every age, making Aqualava Waterpark a safe place for family fun. We recommend you enjoy the great views from the top of the Timan Fire slides as you can see right across this beautiful island.

Aqualava Ticket
Located in the town of Playa Blanca, in Southern Lanzarote, the Aqualava Waterpark offers the most refreshing and fun day possible!
While you decide which slide to go down first, you can stroll around the park’s facilities and admire its carefully designed decoration, which was inspired by Lanzarote’s landscape.
In addition, Aqualava has become a benchmark of sustainability, due to the use of geothermal energy to heat the pools. This park uses the heat coming from the Earth’s volcanic interior to ensure that the water is at a pleasant temperature for all visitors. How cool!
With your ticket to Aqualava, you can float down the Timan Fire’s 5 slides and take your little ones to Corsario Bay to have fun on the kid’s rides that are just for them. If you fancy something a little quieter, you can sunbathe on the lazy river or take a dip in the saltwater wave pool.
Opening hours
Aqualava is open every day from 10 am to 6 pm from June to September and from 10 am to 5 pm from October to May.

Aviamania has already visited Lanzarote, the island of the Canary archipelago twice, which cannot be compared with any other place on Earth! Attractions we reviewed in separate articles , it’s time to talk about Lanzarote Resorts.
Playa Blanca – the southernmost
Choosing a holiday resort is always difficult due to the fact that, as a rule, any place with a beach and a settlement is already considered a resort. In Mallorca, for example, all places on the island, except for the impregnable mountains of Tramuntana, have been made tourist resorts. What can I say, even in the mountains of Tramuntana they made tourist centers that are worth visiting because of their high position above sea level and the cleanest air. Our theme is not Mallorca, but Lanzarote, and this Spanish resort of the Canarian archipelago is fundamentally different from its Balearic counterpart.
Lanzarote can be said to offer only 2 beach resorts: Playa Blanca and Puerto Del Carmen. We will talk about one of them today.
This article is very interesting, but in 2017 we returned to the island and I published an even more informative article for you, which I recommend reading!
Playa Blanca on the map
Attractions Playa Blanca in Lanzarote
When we think where to stay, we study this place thoroughly. That is what I want to dedicate today’s article. I will talk about what to see on Playa Blanca, what beaches the resort is famous for, whether there is entertainment here and how much it costs to dine in a restaurant.
Let’s start with a tour of the most interesting places in the resort:
This place is unique and unusual, but!
Only if you have a diving certificate will you be able to fully appreciate it. Or, if you have a lot of free time and a certain amount of money, then you can learn the art of diving and dive.
Museum description and concept:
Lanzarote Underwater Museum The Atlantico Museum was conceived as a place to promote the education, conservation and protection of the marine and natural environment as an integral part of the human value system. Jason deCaires Tayor sends us a hidden message in his work: protecting the oceans. This museum project is creating a huge artificial reef made up of a series of pH-neutral cement sculptures that will, over time, help the island’s marine biomass thrive and species reproduce.
Fans of historical buildings will be interested in visiting Colorades Castle.
This is an excellent example and a significant contribution to the study of the military architecture of the Canary archipelago in a past era, of which there are not many traces in the Canary Islands, given the delay in the access of the islands to European civilization and history. Its construction was proposed in 1741 to protect the area from the attacks of the corsairs who ravaged the southern shores. The castle was rebuilt and expanded in 1769year after it was burned down by the Algerian troops. It has a circular shape and its access is closed by a drawbridge. Built from stone, limestone and tea tree. There were dormitories for the troops, a gunpowder warehouse, a dungeon.

Flamingo Beach (Playa Flamingo)
All Lanzarote resorts have beaches, Playa Blanca is no exception. A very picturesque beach in the south of the island, although it is not considered the best, but more on that later…
Do not forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel Aviamania ! We shot a lot of videos on the island of Lanzarote and are ready to share useful and interesting information with you!
Flamingo Beach on the map
Of course, many families with children come to the island. And the ocean in Lanzarote is far from a pleasant temperature, and besides, it’s not calm either. It is safer for children to swim in artificial reservoirs. If your child is already bored with the pool in the hotel, and many hotels can boast of having one. I recommend visiting the Aquapark, which will allow you to enjoy your vacation and water without a threat to life. Of course, subject to safety rules, but that’s another story. Your child will definitely be happy!
Working hours of the park
OPEN In summer from 10.00 to 18.00 (Summer – From May 1 to October 31) In winter from 10. 00 to 17.00 (Winter – From November 1 to April 30)
at the moment, check on the website, link below)
It’s a pleasant moment that you can not only buy a single ticket to the Aquapark. If you know that you plan to come more than once, then it is more profitable to take a subscription for a week or 2 weeks for 55 and 75 euros, respectively, for an adult and 45 and 60 euros for a child.

Panoramic restaurant (Restaurante El Mirador)
Barcelona to seek fortune in the Canary Islands.
The restaurant is located in Marina Rubicon in Playa Blanca
Interior – wood and glass, and panoramic windows overlooking a fantastic sunset.
TAPAS is especially praised from the menu.
If we talk about prices, they are not the most democratic, but the taste is excellent.
In order to understand the prices, I check the prices of some traditional dishes:
To better view the resorts of Lanzarote, you need to look into such places, if not for dinner, then at least enjoy the view while drinking a cocktail!

Well, where else to ride a quad bike, if not in Lanzarote! Martian landscapes and the sound of the ocean – is this not paradise!
Here you can rent:
quad bike
segway
electric scooter (scooter)
The rental period may be different, as different routes are offered.
Since the trip is supposed to be with a group, you need to calculate your strengths and capabilities. If you have never driven this miracle of technology and generally on “YOU” with technology, then think before paying for a tour for 3. 5 hours! It may happen that it will become difficult for you much earlier and you will simply get bored with the trip, although what am I talking about … It’s such a buzz and drive !!!
All ATVs have automatic transmission and are designed for 2 people. Children can ride accompanied by a parent from 5 years in front.
Clothing:
Please note that for the rides you need to dress appropriately: sneakers or hiking boots, long trousers, sunglasses!

Papagayo Beach
This is the place for which tourists who stay in different parts of Lanzarote, even the most remote ones, travel to the south of the island. Here, in bays sheltered from the wind and waves, heavenly beaches with white sand, turquoise water and a rich underwater world are hidden.
Be careful if you travel here with small children! On secluded beaches you can meet people who love unity with nature in every sense of the word and throw off all their clothes!
This beach is remote from the resort of Playa Blanco and it takes a long time to get to it on foot!
It is better to come by car and leave it in the car park:
The cleanest and warmest water in Lanzarote, an ideal place for snorkelers. Rich underwater world for the Canary archipelago!
Walking distance to two panoramic restaurants:
Calle Punta de Papagayo, 13, 35580 Yaiza, Las Palmas, Spain

This entertainment is very popular among travelers from all over the world. But this is not surprising, because more than 70% of the surface of our planet is covered by oceans / seas / lakes, so why do we need to admire only the rest of the land?!
Open from 10 am to 5.30 pm
Phone:
Diving center on the map
If you don’t know how to dive yet and you don’t have a certificate, you need to dive school
It offers a full range of services for children and adults in different languages : training for all qualifications from beginner diver to instructor. There is no Russian yet (((There are Spanish, English, German, French, Dutch, Italian.
Interesting:
Jason de Caires Taylor (Dover, Kent County, United Kingdom, 1974) has devoted more than eighteen years to underwater life and its conservation, along with his work as a sculptor and photographer.
He is best known as the creator of MUSA (Museo Subacuático de Arte), the world’s largest museum of aquatic plants, located near Cancun, Mexico, and is currently working on the Museo Atlántico in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote. Made from pH-neutral cement, its sculptures transform into coral reefs as they are consumed by aquatic microorganisms, helping to increase marine biomass and species reproduction.

Climate and Weather – Weather in Tenerife in September
Is September a good time to visit Tenerife?
As the leaves begin to turn in Europe to the north, in Tenerife – the island of “eternal spring” – summer, rather than spring, lingers on with hot days and warm nights, particularly on the south-west coast. The visitors with schools and jobs to return to in the UK and Europe at the end of the summer holiday period wend their way homewards, but now is the perfect time for those less encumbered by enforced breaks to enjoy the perfect weather of Tenerife, without the sweaty crowds of high summer.
Climate in Tenerife in September
Tenerife is a small island, but it has three very different climates dictated by the topography. On the south-west coast where most of the popular beach resorts are concentrated, it remains warm to hot and pleasant all year round. In September the beaches are washed by warm azure seas averaging 23°C, and the air temperature is a comfortable 25°C by day, seldom dipping below 17°C at night. Sunshine is the order of nearly every day here, but with the “rainy” winter season closing in there could be a few days in the month with some cloud cover and light precipitation. The second climatic zone is to the north-east of the island, encompassing the capital, Santa Cruz, where it is slightly wetter and cooler, but still good enough to procure a sun tan. Last, but by no means least, is the very cool high-altitude climate on the slopes of the interior mountains – particularly the dormant Mount Teide volcano – where it can be windy and chilly with temperatures of around 9°C at the summit during September.
What’s on in Tenerife in September
Tenerife is a land of never-ending festivals, and there are several in September to draw visitors in to the joie de vivre of the islanders, and complement the entertainment offered by the resorts. During the first week of September is the Festival of Socorro in Guimar, and in Los Silos a bright festival dubbed “Virgin of the Lights”. Mid-month the Festival of Jesus Christ in La Laguna is particularly enjoyed by young people, topped off with a splendid fireworks display.
What to pack for a holiday in Tenerife in September
For day wear bring your swimsuit, shorts, t-shirts and flip-flops, but in the evenings outdoors you may want to top off your party-wear with a cardigan or light jacket. If you plan to take the cable car up Mount Teide bring along a padded jacket and in the north of the island, a raincoat may see some use.

Weather Forecast for Tenerife from 30th September to 6th October |

The Weather Forecast for 30th September to 6th October Normally October can be like an extension of summer but the forecast for the coming week certainly sounds like the seasons on Tenerife are changing early. Temperatures will drop slightly as the week progresses and there will be a chance of rain every day. Most surprising of all is the possibility of snow showers on Mount Teide towards the end of the week. On the bright side, the sun should be out, about and smiling most days as well so not as gloomy as it might sound.
Weather Forecast for Tenerife from 23h to 29th September As we weren’t here we can’t report first hand what the weather was like on Tenerife but it seems to have been a mix of long, sunny spells with cloudy intervals and some rain. When we flew into Tenerife Sur on Saturday morning, the air was crystal clear and we could see La Palma behind Tenerife long before we flew over Gran Canaria.
Weather in South Tenerife – It’s sun and cloud all week with more cloud as the week rolls on. There’s also the chance of rain every day – ranging from 5% this morning to 95% by Thursday. Temperatures will also drop from 27C today to 23C by the weekend.
Weather in North Tenerife – Much the same as the south with a mix of sun and cloud all week and a chance of rain every day (15 to 100%). Temperatures start the week at 24C and end it at 22C. Weather in East Tenerife – Same story with sun and cloud and the likelihood of rain every day (15 to 100%). Like the north, temps will start the week at 24C and end it at 22C. Weather in South West Tenerife – No difference even in the sunny south west. Sun and cloud all week with a 5 to 90% chance of rain each day. Temperatures will range from 29C today to 23C by the weekend.
Weather in the Mount Teide Crater – Even Mount Teide won’t escape the rain this week with rain forecast for the crater and the summit from Thursday to Friday. Even more incredible is the chance of snow showers on the summit on Thursday. If it happens, it would be the earliest we’ve seen snow on Mount Teide in 10 years. Temperatures in the crater will range from 11 to 17C whilst on the summit it will be between 2 and 8C.
So far today webcams around Tenerife show… not a lot. They all seem to be out of action. Coincidentally (or not) often a sign that things are not all blue skies and golden orbs in the south of the island.

150 beaches in the Canaries are at risk of disappearing by 2050 due to climate change –
5/25/22, 2:17 PM
By Janet Anscombe MBE
National
New research by the Canarian Government has shown that almost 150 beaches in the Canary Islands, including iconic sites like Las Teresitas in Santa Cruz de Tenerife or Las Canteras in Gran Canaria, are at risk of disappearing by 2050 through rising sea levels and coastal erosion as a result of the climate crisis. Apart from the beaches themselves, many other coastal areas are vulnerable, bringing not just loss of territory but significant economic costs.
These conclusions are the culmination of the PIMA (Coastal Adaptation Environmental Initiative Plan), a study carried out by the regional Environmental Department which has assessed a range of possible scenarios faced by the islands between 2050 and 2100 should no climate action be taken.
The worst-case scenario sees 10.6% of the total coastal area of the islands being lost over the next 28 years, which hugely impacts plans for future tourism development.
The regional Government is already focusing on sustainable solutions rather than continuing to promote mass tourism, or so it claims: this study shows they need to renew that commitment and, of course, it calls into question any new plans for developments like mega hotels in low lying coastal areas like El Puertito.
Residents might feel the message comes closer to home when they hear that Alcalá in Guía de Isora will have almost completely disappeared in the same period, with the beaches in El Médano in Granadilla and Troya in Costa Adeje at risk of vanishing by 2100.
The study confirms that the primary factor for vulnerable beaches is their inability to retreat in the face of rising sea levels because of urban development, beaches where every centimetre of sea-level rise removes land that can’t move backwards.

The Roque Cinchado, also known as the “finger of God”, is considered by some to be the symbol of the Cañadas. It is certainly the most spectacular and popular highlight among the Roques de García.
The summit of Montaña Blanca is relatively easy to reach and still offers a fantastic panorama. Below you, the mighty, reddish-brown rocky desert spreads out and above you the summit of Mount Teide towers into the blue sky.
It is best to start up the gondolas in the early morning with one of the first cable cars, then it is still relatively quiet and relaxed up there.

Teide Peak
The main thing to see in Tenerife is the Teide Peak. We moved there on the second day of our stay on the island. Teide is a volcano on the island of Tenerife, the highest point in Spain. Height – 3718 m , relative height above the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean – 7500 m, is the highest peak in this ocean. Tenerife is the third largest volcanic island in the world.
This place should have been a photograph of the Teide volcano. But the beauty of this road in the clouds outweighed the volcano itself. Volcano and two dozen more photos under the cut
Since our base is located on Costa Adeje, we started to climb to the top from the southeast. The first 20 km. passed through the inhabited territory of the island of Tenerife. The road winds, but not critically, it cannot be compared with the road to the village of Mask. You can drive at a speed of 40-80 km / h.
Already at an altitude of 800 meters we rose above the clouds.
At an altitude of 1200 m, a pine forest began. By our standards, such an ordinary pine forest, for these latitudes this is of course a miracle.
1150 m – pass to the caldera of the volcano. The caldera itself is located at an altitude of 1000-1200 m.
Most of the people actively moving around Tenerife rent a car. We are no exception – we have a moderately killed Toyota Yaris (44 thousand mileage). I have never seen such an old car at the rental. So much for Hertz.
From the coast to the caldera, drive about 25 km, the caldera itself is about 20 km, the descent to the western part of the island (in Santa Cruz) is about 25 km more. Everything would be fine, but there are a lot of viewing stations in the caldera, well, plus a serpentine. Stopping at each takes time. It took all day for 70 km. Back along the coast, along the highway, we were back in 40 minutes.
Passage and passage is free everywhere, except for the last 200 meters to the crater. You can get there by obtaining a special permit, but you need to go to the capital of Tenerife – Santa Cruz (UPD 2012: permission can be obtained on the official website). We didn’t have time to get permission, so we climbed to a height of 3538 meters using a funicular (spent 50 euros and saved about 4 hours), looked around and moved further along the caldera. It is the volcano caldera that is the most interesting and beautiful place, the view from a height of 3538 meters is not so impressive.

All the postcards have bright vegetation, but we got the dry season. Not as dry as in this photo, but still.

Approaching the clouds. Truly a magical island. Clouds in the mountains, then over the sea. They are everywhere, but not where we are.
Layers of lava along the road. Eruptions can be counted by stripes, like those of a tree.
On the way down, as well as on the way up, there is a beautiful forest.

Description
Don’t visit and conquer Tenerife
It’s like going to Paris and not climbing the Eiffel Tower! Excursion to the volcano is one of the most emotional. Mount Teide (3718 meters above sea level) is the highest point in Spain and the Atlantic. She majestically rises above the ocean, like a mighty hero, calm in appearance and at the same time keeping so many secrets in herself …
4 picturesque roads lead to the national park: 2 from the south from the coast and 2 from the north. Our journey will begin with climbing the southern slope (through the village of Vilaflor) and getting to know Pino Gordo, which translates as Thick Pine. Nine meters in girth and forty-five in height, it is so massive that only eight adults can fully embrace it! Further, the route will take us to the largest volcano crater in Europe – Las Cañadas del Teide! In clear weather, from this point we can see the sea from the clouds and the neighboring islands. You seem to be in some kind of magical land! But this is only the beginning of the journey. Today you will feel like a hero of a science fiction movie – these landscapes can decorate any film about a man’s visit to another planet. Indeed, this is one of the favorite venues for Hollywood directors. It was here that the films “Planet of the Apes”, “Million Years BC”, “Clash of the Titans”, “Mad Max” were filmed. Eminent directors and famous actors are frequent guests on the expanses of the volcano, which are filled with a supernatural atmosphere and incredible energy. Inspiration here can to be found by every guest of Teide. The area around the volcano has been declared a protected area and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The volcanic fragments of hardened lava of black, white and ocher colors surrounding Teide have acquired bizarre shapes under the influence of time and make everything around them even more like the world of science fiction films. And we can take a look at this stunning view from the observation deck, which is rightfully considered a symbol of Spain – Los Roques de Garcia, in translation – “Rocks of Beauty” (2150 meters above sea level). The country even issued banknotes with the image Teide from this viewpoint and we will definitely take such a photo. Our next stop will be the famous e Lunar landscapes, where the film with Arnold Schwarzenegger “Total Recall” was filmed. Amazing views await us!
Those wishing to conquer the Teide Peak (3718 m) must obtain a special permit and follow the 45-minute walk after the cable car (3555 m) to the crater itself! The number of permits issued per day is limited, so you should plan to climb to the peak at least 2 months in advance! (permission is free).
